by Napoleon Quintos | August 14, 2009 8:31 AM | Share this article While continuing her success as a solo performer, Nina is also enjoying recognition as part of the ASAP singing group Sessionistas, which also include Aiza Seguerra, Sitti, Duncan Ramos, Richard Poon, and MYMP. Despite her busy schedule with the rehearsals for the group’s upcoming concert this August 28, Nina is still pursuing the estafa case she filed against her ex-boyfriend Nyoy Volante. At the press conference of the Sessionistas concert, Nina told ABS-CBN.com that she has no plans of withdrawing the case until she gets the P1.4 million Nyoy’s family owes her. The Soul Siren revealed that Nyoy and his mom, on a number of occasions, borrowed money from her, which totaled to P1.4 million. However, Nyoy contested that he doesn’t owe anything from Nina as the money he borrowed came from their joint account. When asked how she would react if Nyoy will approach her to say, “sorry,” Nina said that forgiving is easy, but it’s justice that she is seeking for. ABS-CBN.com asked if Nina will perform the song “Someday,” a composition Nyoy gave to Nina when they were still together, during the concert. “Hindi ko sure kung kakantahin ko ‘yun. Manood na lang kayo para surprise, ha ha ha!,” said the Soul Siren. Regarding her stint as a performer in ASAP ‘09, Nina reacted on the rumor that the reason she was placed in the Sessionistas segment was because the other young singers, supposedly Sarah Geronimo and Rachelle Ann Go, were feeling insecure over her. The Soul Siren denied there is tension among the “birit princesses” of the musical variety show. Minsan sinasama naman ako kina Sarah or kay Ms. ZsaZsa (Padilla) at happy naman ako na I get to perform with them aside sa Sessionistas. Wala namang inggitan.

Lorna Tolentino says she and Gabby Concepcion attained more depth in acting
by Bernie Franco | August 14, 2009 8:42 AM | Share this article After doing several movies years ago, Lorna Tolentino and Gabby Concepcion are reunited in ABS-CBN’s Dahil May Isang Ikaw, their first teleserye toether. The veteran actress noted that her and Gabby’s acting skills gained more depth through the years. “I feel talagang para sa akin, experience is the best teacher. With Gabby ganun din eh, makikita mo naman din sa trailer [ng Dahil May Isang Ikaw] na parang ‘yung maturity nandoroon na rin.”Lorna confessed that she uses the sadness she feels about the loss of her husband, actor Rudy Fernandez, to perform dramatic and heavy scenes. “Napalaking bagay ‘yon. Actually, kapag alam kong ang eksenang involved napakahirap, I think of Rudy right away so siyempre koneksyon na ‘yon dahil kasunod non nagdadasal na ako sa Diyos,” she shared. It has been some time since she last acted in front of the camera and Lorna admitted that she had to adjust for the first few taping days. What she really found difficult were the long taping hours that sometimes lasted well into the next day. Right now, their taping days take place three times a week: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Lorna revealed that what she misses about working with the Kapamilya network are the “exciting” roles that they give her, such as the one she played six years ago in Kaytagal Kang Hinintay where she had to play twins with contrasting personalities. People still remember her character up to this day and some would even approach her to ask when she is returning to TV. Aside from Dahil May Isang Ikaw, Lorna’s two-year contract with the Kapamilya network includes one more teleserye and a movie. Of her co-stars in Dahil May Isang Ikaw, Lorna mentioned that she is very impressed with Jericho Rosales’s acting. She said that her co-star’s dedication to his work makes their scenes together a breeze. “I think he’s a giving actor. Dahil May Isang Ikaw premieres on August 24. It also stars Kristine Hermosa, John Estrada, Chin-chin Gutierrez, Karylle, and Sid Lucero.

Cherie Gil says Erich Gonzales is a good actress
by Rachelle Siazon | August 14, 2009 11:42 AM | Share this article Katorse will be taking over the Boys Over Flowers slot when the Koreanovela ends it run by next week. At the grand presscon for the show last August 13, the cast expressed their relief that the show was finally premiering on August 24 after bad weather conditions caused production delays. Lead actress Erich Gonzales was asked if she had a hard time getting intimate with leading men Ejay Falcon, Xian Lim, and Enchong Dee since she has never had had a boyfriend in real life. “I come sa set on time and prepared talaga. I know my lines and kapag nandun na ako kakalimutan ko muna na ako si Erich. Ako si Nene, 14 years old, innocent at naive sa madaming bagay tapos biglang maiinlove. Kung ano man ang kailangan sa eksena kasama na dun yung kiss, as Nene talaga yun,” she explained to ABS-CBN.com. As a matter of fact, co-star Cherie Gil attested to the young star’s dedication to her craft when asked about her working experience with her. “In all honesty, I’ve worked with her already in Pieta and there I saw her humility and her patience. There were times na ang haba-haba ng hinihintay niya kami lagi nakasalang ni Ryan Agoncillo. And she would be there until the wee hours, walang reklamo, she's always smiling and such a very sweet girl,” she began. But now that Erich has her very own show, the beautiful veteran actress wasn’t ashamed to admit that she’s now the one who has to wait for her turn on camera. “I saw a lot of her sensitivity and the potential of Erich. I truly believe that she'll go places. She's very easy to work with and she's focused.” As praise coming from someone of Cherie’s caliber who was once trained by “wonderful mentors of the past” such as Director Ishmael Bernal and Charito Solis, Erich was overwhelmed by her co-star’s words. “Nakaka-overwhelm yun lalo na because she's one of my idols also, nakakataba talaga ng puso. Hindi ako makapaniwala and siyempre, I am honored na nakasama siya dito sa Katorse at nakatrabaho siya ulit kaya mas inspired ako,” Erich said in response to Cherie’s statement. Erich further shared that there was never a time that Cherie had to scold her for being lax on the set. Like what Ms. Cherie said, there’s a time for play and work. Kapag wala naman pong take maganda talaga ang bonding naming lahat,” she stressed.

Ejay Falcon is still uncomfortable doing love scenes in ‘Katorse’
by Fionna Acaba | August 14, 2009 9:32 AM | Share this article In his role in Katorse, Ejay Falcon has to do some love scenes with leading lady Erich Gonzales, something he still uncomfortable with. Hindi ko pa nae-experience kasi probinsya yun, eh, conservative mga tao dun.”He and his co-stars have undergone a sensuality workshop to help deal with their inhibitions. Ejay shared. Ejay admits that he’s still a probinsyano by heart. After his Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Plus stint, it took a while before he was given projects. But Ejay said that he is more than happy with what he has right now and that everything comes at its own time.

UNCLE MAX on ABS-CBN
It seems like ABS-CBN is getting fond of silent comedies on its programming! To premier on its Hapontastic block is Uncle Max, another comedy skit which will complement it currently airing silent comedy Mr. Bean. Uncle Max is a British children's comedy television series originally airing on CITV, and now CBBC. It features David Schneider as the title character, Uncle Max, and William Howe as Luke, Max's nine year-old nephew, although in the second series Jonathon Hanly took over from William. The show is very similar in style to Mr. Bean, with the basic premise being that Uncle Max is incapable of embarking on any adventure without upsetting another individual or group of individuals in some shape or form. The first series was filmed in Johannesburg in South Africa over a seven-week block in the summer of 2005, the show was written by David Schneider and 13 episodes were made for CITV and the CITV Channel in 2006. The second series was filmed in Galway, in Ireland. Schneider himself admitted in an interview for The Times that parts of the series are references to Laurel and Hardy; however the majority of the footage is a tribute to the cartoons which Schneider grew up with, cartoons such as Tom and Jerry, Scooby Doo and Wacky Races. Scheider also stated that the name of the Uncle is descended from his own uncle, Max Ward, who was born in Hastings but now lives in Hackney, London. Of his own Uncle Max, Schneider says that he used to get into all sorts of scrapes and adventures and would take the young David along for the ride. The programme contains very little spoken audio at all, instead vocal noises (such as gasping, grunting, moaning, panting, banging, sighing and a bit of broken vocal) similar to the type of voice Rowan Atkinson gives Mr. Bean in the animated series and the CITV show aimed for deaf children, Zzzap!. It is made by Little Bird Pictures and marketed as a silent comedy. Many of the acts are over exaggerated as in many Related Posts : International TV, Uncle Max kids shows and done in slow motion to create some tension.

E-passport Philippines launched
The first e-passport with Serial Number EA0000001 was issued on Tuesday to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. The e-Passport, which is currently being used in over 60 countries, is different from the machine readable passports that are currently being issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA). Its security features reportedly include a hidden encoded image, an ultra-thin holographic laminate, and a tamper-proof electronic microchip that stores the passport holder’s photograph and other personal data for easy verification of identity and is fully inter-operable. Initially, application for the ePassport, which costs 950 pesos will be on appointment basis. Full implementation of the project will take place in the next three months. Filipino passport applicants may still choose between the ePassport and the machine-readable passport (MRP). Meanwhile, holders of the green passports need not worry as the DFA had asked the international community to still honor them until their expiration dates.
