almost causing a riot at the Beijing airport

ZaiZai, Da S and Megan Lai went to China to promote Mars, the local fans all went wild and nearly caused a riot in the Beijing airport, just like the golden days of F4, it is apparent that ZaiZai is the most popular. Da S chatted and laughed with him, seemingly unperturbed by the rumour of her and Lan Zheng Long’s change of heart. Lan Zheng Long is now in Taiwan, and his manager tried to disperse the rumour of their breakup, “Who said Lan Zheng Long usually picks her up at the airport? And even if he doesn’t, it doesn’t mean that they’ve broken up!”

There had been press conferences and meet-n-greets for Mars both in Beijing and Guanzhou for the past two days. ZaiZai was obviously the most popular. With his birthday on 6/9, fans prepared a cake and celebrated his birthday in advance. In Guangzhou yesterday, the host jokingly suggested Da S and Megan Lai to give him a birthday kiss. As soon as she finished saying it, the fans offstage started protesting loudly. Da S’ reaction was quick, and immediately said to Megan, “Maybe we should just kiss each other then, to avoid being beaten by the fans”, and then they hugged each other. Facing such a big challenge, Da S had already witnessed F4’s power in Meteor Garden, and she also has many loyal fans of her own already. When she worked with ZaiZai before, she would often laugh at him for being childish, pouting whenever he gets unhappy, but now ZaiZai is already 24 years old.

F4 member Zhou Yu Min (ZaiZai) and Da S, Megan Lai attended the Mars meet-n-greet with the fans in Beijing the day before yesterday, which attracted nearly a thousand fans who were there to give support, and they were wild. When Da S and ZaiZai appeared on stage one after the other, screaming from the fans who were there reverberated throughout the place, entirely drowning out the host’s voice. Whenever ZaiZai appears on the big screen, the fans would scream loudly. ZaiZai would then surreptitiously wave at the fans with a smile.

ZaiZai wore a light brown suit, while Da S and Megan Lai wore light gauzy dresses, looking fresh and elegant. To express their support for ZaiZai, the fans made a tape especially for him. When he saw the little children included in the tape calling him “uncle”, ZaiZai puckered his brow and said that it is unusual for people to call him “uncle”, but in the future there’s a possibility that he could be called “Uncle Xiao Min” or “Grandpa Zhou”, etc. The host asked the fans if they want ZaiZai to marry early or late? The answer was, surprisingly, marry early. ZaiZai laughed and said that they probably want to see little ZaiZai sooner, so they can be the nannies, which caused the place to erupt in laughter. Next month is ZaiZai’s birthday, and the organizers prepared a big birthday cake for him to celebrate it. ZaiZai’s birthday wish is to see everyone who supports him happy. When he tried to steal a taste of the cake, Da S immediately slapped his hand, and ZaiZai laughingly exclaimed that it’s a real cake!

There's a rumor ( again) that GMA 7 will air this starting July at a 9:30 - 10:00 PM daily time slot. But GMA do not usually follow the time slots so we could expect MARS at around 10-10:30 to 11:00 PM which is too late for most people.

CETV Mars premiere was held on the night of 27th in Guangzhou. Zaizai Zhou Yu Min, DaS Xu Xi Yuan, and newcomer Lai Ya Yan attracted more than 600 funs across the country and from places such as Singapore, Thailand, and Hong Kong. Some of the Mars highlights were played in the premiere. The two leading actors' faces flushed and they were sweating with cold sweat while watching the love scenes. DaS, who is rumored currently having personal emotional problems, never mentioned Lan Zheng Long. She praised Zaizai's acting skills had made a great leap.

Zaizai interview: keen on acting roles with more depth

Reporter: You played two roles in Mars; especially Ling's personality is very different from yours. Do you have any particular thoughts on them?

Zaizai: Of course Ling's dark side is not like me, but his devotion to and bravery about love is quite like me. Contrarily, I feel Sheng is too weak. I don't like him. Actually, I'm not like him either. My own personality is more versatile.

Reporter: This is the third time you collaborate with DaS. Are you intended to create a new edition of best screen lovers like Qin Han and Lin Qing Xia of old time? Do you become not responding after collaborating many times? Are you considering new partners?

Zaizai: I'm not the type of person chasing after new things. I'm glad that I can work with DaS again and being appreciated. As for Qin Han and Lin Qing Xia, Ha Ha. It would be great if we can reach that kind of state. DaS and I were both very absorbed in the roles. We couldn't help feeling embarrassing because of the many love scenes. At some instant I would feel like I had falling in love with the leading actress. Fortunately when the director called cut, I could withdraw myself out of it. I don't have the right to choose my leading actresses. But for sure I will collaborate with other actresses. I hope there will be new inspirations inspired.

Too immersed in his character, fell in “love” with Da S

Reporter: You play two separate characters in Mars, especially Ling whose personality is so different from your own. Did you come by any particular insight while you were acting this role?

ZaiZai: Ling’s dark side is not much like me of course, nut his determination and courage towards love is quite the same as me. On the contrary, it is Sheng who I don’t like because I feel he is too weak. The real me is not like him. My personality is more changeable.

Reporter: This is the 3rd time you’ve worked together with Da S. Are there any plans of establishing a new love team for the silver screen, like Qin Han and Lin Qing Xia before? Does working too many times with Da S make you feel anesthetized and think about teaming up with another actress?

ZaiZai: I’m not a person who believes in “In with the new and out with the old”. I feel very happy to be able to work with Da S again and earn everyone’s approval. As for Qin Han and Lin Qing Xia, haha, it would be great if I could achieve what they have. Both I and Da S are very engrossed in our characters. Because there are a lot of passionate scenes there will inevitably be times when it gets awkward. At some point I will also feel that I’ve fallen in love with the female lead character. Fortunately I am still able to dissociate myself the moment the director yells 'Cut!' I don’t have the right to choose which actress I work with, but I will most certainly be able to work with other actresses and create a new kind of spark.

Reporter: F4 is said to have benefited the most from the success of Taiwan idol dramas. “Meteor Garden” made the four of you popular throughout Asia, and for the past two years there have been more and more Taiwan idol dramas. What is your opinion on that?

ZaiZai: It’s not necessarily a bad thing to have so many. On the contrary, I would like to see more outstanding artists from Taiwan aside from F4 and Jay Chou popular in every Asian countries. It’s true that most idol dramas nowadays are somewhat substandard, but there are still good ones around, like “Come to My Place” – I thought that wasn’t bad. A lot of drama series now are collaborations between Taiwan, Hong Kong and mainland China, and sometimes even with Korean actors. This way the work and the investment can be distributed evenly between everybody and the actors get to work with other actors. It’s a very good, new approach.

Fame came too quickly, success still baffles him

Reporter: You were still young when F4 became famous. How did you view your success then?

ZaiZai: Not that young! Just younger than now, haha! To be completely honest, during “Meteor Garden” I didn’t really know what success was, because I’ve never failed. I accompanied a friend to the audition and then was chosen to be in the series. At that time everybody encouraged me to treat it like just a summer job. I myself didn’t think anything of it, it was just for fun. It never occurred to me that we would suddenly become so famous. I remember F4’s first autograph session in Taipei – several streets were lined up full of people, the stage collapsed and we were forced to cancel the event. And the four of us even had tocome out and apologize because of that, haha. Now I think back on it and it’s very bewildering. All of our success before is due to “Meteor Garden”, credits should go to the director and Chai jie (Angie Chai). That’s why the four of us are watchful and alert and prepared. We all work very hard, hoping that there would be a new breakthrough in our careers, a success that we can call our own.

Reporter: You performance in “Mars” earned recognition from so many people, even Da S said that you improved a lot. Are TV drama series the main direction you want to take in the future?

ZaiZai: Yes, definitely. After filming “Mars” I have become quite demanding and picky. I have set very high standards towards new plays. I think that those roles with light love stories should be left to the younger people. At my age I need something with more depth.

Reporter: But you’re only 24 years old, is it necessary to look for depth so early?

ZaiZai: I started at 19. It’s been five years already, there is a need for more depth. A while ago some kids have already called me “Uncle ZaiZai”, if I don’t shape up on my acting, they’d start calling me “Grandpa ZaiZai”.



"Mars" is too raunchy

Reporter: There are a lot of passionate scenes in “Mars”, how do you regard idol dramas that incorporates passionate scenes and violence?

ZaiZai: We were all very serious about it during filming. We didn’t care if the result was “pretty” or not. I want the audience to feel that it’s all very normal. But watching those scenes earlier compiled together really made me blush and perspire. Made me feel like “Mars” is too raunchy. Truth is, acting to me is really a fun thing to do. You get to do a lot of things you can’t do in real life, and when you see the results you get this sense of achievement everytime that gives a feeling of contentment I’ve never had before. As for what you said about idol dramas adding a new element…well, what is an idol drama after all? Should a film be deemed an idol drama just because it stars a young, good looking cast? Being young and good looking is supposed to be an advantage! Look at Andy Lau – he’s good looking. Does that mean that he couldn’t act in the films he made when he was young? Hasn’t he also received so many acting awards now, not only in Hong Kong, but also in Taiwan and China! I believe that idol dramas that depend solely on beauty is past it already. The audience nowadays are not necessarily kids. People should change their point of view and treat idol dramas maturely, elevate our standard in watching television.

Reporter: Are there any other plans this year? Will you release another album?

ZaiZai: There are still plans for a movie, TV series and an album, I should think. I’ve never been familiar with the aspect of music. For the last two albums, I’ve always been at ease with just listening to the suggestions of my teachers and didn’t put in much of my own ideas. But for the third album I hope I can include more of my own feelings. I think this kind of music suits me better. I hope my third album will be about the real me, all of me.

Q 5.1: Please tell us something about Mars. Mars is about a youth whose heart has been badly hurt. You also acted the role of the younger brother. Facing the challenge of playing two roles, what kind of efforts did you make in order to act them?

Zaizai: This is the first drama I feel proud of as a professional. I thought the roles were difficult to act after reading the script. To prepare for them, I met with the director twice. The director recommended a book to read, saying that after reading the book, I may understand the psychological aspect of Ling. After reading the book, we started shooting on locations. Playing the two roles wasn't that difficult, I just made some slight changes to the acting methods. What I had suffered more was Ling's fighting scenes. To shoot cool-looking fighting scenes, we toiled a lot for the best poses. A fighting master was called in. While we fought each other, poses were selected and shot. Fortunately, we have shot many satisfied poses.

Q 5.2: Which scene in Mars do you recommend?

Zaizai: We all worked very hard for Mars, I wish you will watch it all. But if I have to, it would be the kissing scenes with Kira, they are very beautiful. You must see them. In private life, the relationship between Barbie and I are older sister and younger brother. We always joke and make fun of each other. It was very embarrassing to act the kissing scenes. Barbie has a boy friend. Right before shooting a scene, we would root each other to finish the scene in one take. But as we saw the other person's face, the two of us would burst into laugher. Sometimes it took many NGs to finish a scene (Laugh).

ZHOU YU MIN'S 24th birthday..Fans create a birthday book specially for him.


It is ZaZai Zhou Yu Min's 24th birthday today. To give him an unforgettable birthday, fans from Vicpower, which is composed of fans from all over the world, has kicked off the [Project of Compassion] on this wonderful day. This is already the fourth straight year that they have raised funds for this project, continuing to support charities under his name, like the China Children and Teenagers' Fund's "Spring Bud Project", as well as Taiwan Fund for Children and Families, helping poor and underprivileged children from ZaiZai's hometown Yilan.

S: (laughs) Pill?!

Z: (after correcting himself) Xu Xi Yuan Da S, welcome.

S: Hi, I'm a cosmetics pill!

S: In this drama she (Qi Luo) encounters many tragedies.When I was acting I would take these encounters and place them in my heart. So it was really painful while I was doing my homework for this role. I went to a domestic violence center in Taiwan that had girls who've had this kind of experience. I asked their counselors about their experiences. I felt horrible when I heard about it. My mind was filled with all those experiences because it was really painful to know about the things they had to go through and then there was nothing I can do to help. Afterwards I took those and put them in my heart, I took these pains, sufferings, and angers and put them all into my heart.

H: To imagine yourself as them.

S: Yes.

Z: I really admire her after seeing her performance. In one scene I had to test her to see if she really experienced domestic violence. I pressed her against the bed, on top of the bed, and she acted that scene so well that it scared me! Afterwards it was true acting, she really was scared, "No! No!"

H: She went crazy?

Z: Because she, that scene was when she suddenly recalls how she was abused by her stepfather. Then with the addition of my actions, it was like I was her stepfather, and screamd. I thought she was awesome, the few seconds of silence was acted really well. (To Da S) You were remembering right?

S: I forget

Z: There you have to pay attention to the expression in her eyes, really.

H: So you really got frightened?

Z: I really was frightened, yes. I thought it was acted really well.

Z: Before accepting this drama I didn't know how to ride those types of motorcycles. The only thing I was worried about in this drama was how I was going to drive, how I was going to ride it. And then how I was going to carry her, what was the best way to carry her. And then...yeah...haha (to the crew) Can you let me talk? (goes back to host) I had to try 2 times before passing.

H: The first time was because the weather wasn't good right?

Z: Yeah and I was too careless. And there were many others who were testing too. It seemed like I was the youngest one there, and I wanted to play handsome with those big friends right? So in the end...I crossed the line.

H: I think if two people are especially close, when acting this type of couple or intimate scenes, I think that its impossible to get into it. Did you guys run into this kind of problem?

S: Before, when I first filmed "Meteor Garden," I did.

Z: Yeah.

S: But not that I've grown up I'm not like that anymore.

Z: Who cares, you can't care so much. No, instead, because it's like this, because we're friends, so we would want to be even more professional about intimate scenes. We both hope that it's ok on our first try. I would often talk nonsense but they're just jokes.

S: Yeah, they're very alike. Why don't you take off your mask.

Z: I'm actually Xu Xi Di (pretends to take off a mask)

Z: Sorry that I let older sis knew that I actually earn a lot of money, I act two roles...

S: One person acting two roles.

Z: Right now Xu Xi Di is actually disguised by someone else.

Z: Because she really hates it when people say she's dark because she's originally really white and is also really white now. Don't pince me!

H: Da S says that privately it's actually ZZ who bullies you. We've actually heard of it before that he'd often bully you...

S: It's true because he's like my little sister. People think that I control my little sister and that I bully her but privately I spoil her. I've spoiled her ever since she was young and it's the same with ZZ. In the beginning I encouraged him, pardoned him. I really treated him like my little brother. Now he's bad, want to say, ok, I'm going to make you take the bad big sister role and then I'll turn in to the good little brother.

H: So often before you guys film...like often before you guys film he hits you...

S: He would

H: And then you have to start, the director says "action!"

S: That's exactly it! Whenever no one is looking he'd taken advantage of the time and come over and hit my head or knead my ears. And then when I get mad and want to fight back someone always just happens to see it and they'd think that privately Da S is very mean. It would just so happen that our eyes meet and then it's hard to defend my self, he's incredible!

Z: Every time we are filming, for example the scene is a romantic one, Xu Xi Yuan and I, I would have bie mai. And then we'll continuously say that the other isn't, keep on quarreling and quarreling until the director says, "Hey! This is a love scene, do you guys need to nourish your emotions?" Being like that how would you film later? It's very funny.

H: Do would you hit him back? For example, hitting him again before the next scene begins?

S: Yes. Often when during the countdown, 5, 4, 3, 2, we're still hitting and then enter the drama as quickly as possible.

Z: Yeah.

S: It's when it's more relaxed. When it's more solemn we wouldn't dare look at each other because we're afraid that if we do we'll start fighting again.

S: He was obviously glaring at me but his mouth was acting and apologizing to me.

Nanghihinayang lang kasi ako sa hindi pagpapalabas nito. This is the best ZZ series ever. Para mapanood naman ng madlang Pilipino. Para masabi ng iba na mahusay umarte si ZZ. Tapos baka yung ibang series ng F3 ipalabas ng ABS.

i have to disagree on this.... zaizai has been somewhat idle since january this year.. let's say that most were just promotions and no definite (or confirmed) projects like new album, or new series or a movie.... (unlike last year, he was here and there for shooting and doing promotions for album and lots of commercials)

yeah mostly plain promotions for parco, pepsi, japan, and mars... other than that just talks with new series with a korean actress park (ah hell i forgot her name... the one from jewel in the palace (sun)? gomen ne...).. but still remains as "talks"... so it shouldnt be difficult to bring zaizai this time around.....

unless he will confirm on that series.. or the new album will be realized...

There are times that I wished that the rights for MARS was bought by channel 5 then probably they will show it at the most favorable time but then it will go up against the other TV giants.

I don't want to lose hope. Probably GMA 7 have a surprise for us MARS fans.

Z: Privately we were fighting. The director said we had to film this scene, in the scene before we fought and then I was mad at her. In this scene I had to apologize to her and the director could see that my expression wasn't sincere. I wasn't sincere at all and said it with a murderous look but I still had to say sorry.

H: How long did you have to film this scene?

S: Many, many times and there had to be feeling. The camera slowly zoomed into his face, our face and then we'd be glaring at each other.

Evaluation on Mars?

Z: I personally think that it's really good. A lot of effort was put into filming this drama because I think that at different ages one's acting is different. Like I am 23 when I act in "Mars" and I when I watch it I think that it's awesome.

S: I personally really really like this drama. Out of all the dramas I've been in I'm probably most satisfied with this one.

ZZ's childlike manner

H: How do you feel about the real life ZZ?

S: He has many sides to him because he's s gemini like my sister. They have times when they are really funny and times when they are really stubborn, that is when they are black faced and ferocious. They also have times when they are really gentle and when they are like a child, they just change a lot.

Z: No mature side?

H: How is ZZ when he's like a child?

S: Ugh, nauseating! Really, he would grab onto people's clothes, whether it's a guy or a girl, the crew's designer, he'd be like (she pouts), he'd pout, (pulls on his clothes) "Come one let me see." That's how he is!

H: Really?

S: Yes.

Z: When?

S: He'd be like that, very immature. Sometimes when happy he'd pretend to be like a little kid and then use

a fake voice to laugh. He loves to pout and stuff like that, really! I'm serious.

H: How about ZZ, is this true?

Z: Half and half. It's not as severe as she puts it because actually I'm a person who thinks very maturely.

S: You do, you do, if you don't believe me ask the people around here. Don't I act more serious than he does? You're very severe.

Z: That was the old me ok? I'm not like this now.

H: Alright, you guys are close to fighting.

Da S' gentleness

H: Have you seen the gentle side of Da S before?

Z: I've never seen her when she's not gentle.

Z: She's always gentle.

H: Pinching him! We're going to ask ZZ a difficult question. You have to imitate Da S when she's gentle under 3 different circumstances. The first one is when she's gentle to you.

Z: To me?

H: She never has? (laughs) Pinching again.

Z: Yes, yes, yes. Gentle to me...I have to imitate her right?

H: Yes, for example, "ZZ dinner time!"

Z: "You can do it, focus!" When I'm floating during a drama and confused, she'll be like, "You can do it, focus! Remember!"

H: That's how she is when she's gentle towards you? Ok, how about Xiao S? To her little sister?

Z: Never seen before.

H: For example that her sister should eat dinner? Just that one sentence, imagine it.

Z: How I think she would be?

H: Yes.

hi beezz! i am so frustrated about this as well. i was happy to know that MARS rights was bought by a Phil network (though i prefer ABS) and that a lot of people will be able to see this series but i was wrong. it has been more than a year now and still, there is no definite date yet as to when really this will be shown. :(

i just hope that GMA is considering everything when deciding what series to broadcast. MARS deserves to be shown and to be in primetime. i am also wondering on the cause of the delay. they should show more faith in the drama; they bought the rights in the first place. oh, well. i'm really getting more and more frustrated as days passed by and as they announce other series to be broadcasted.

Q: Who's more fussy?

Z: Actually what's most incredible her is that she has this special ability, I'm serious. She has a crow's mouth. That is, whatever she says, "I think you're not looking so good today" or "I think something will happen to you today" or "Later you might something something," and it'll really happen! I really dislike it when she says something that I don't want to happen.

H: So everytime she says something you'd say, "Don't say it."

Z: Yeah. Everytime she's about to speak I'll say, "Don't say it!" So to me, she's probably a little devil.

S: I say that ZZ's is most fussy when we're in the car. He would be very fussy in the car.

Z: In who's car?

S: No, when you usually are in a car. For instance when we have to go filming, when we are returning from filming or when we are going to another filming location, or when we go overseas to promote, inside the car is the best place for him to talk about his personal affairs. And then he would ask me how I am, talk about how he's been. He'd go on and on. When he talks about a small matter he'd take forever to finish talking about it.

H: Do you really want to sleep during that time?

S: No, I do want to listen to his personal affairs but he really goes on and on. He'd ask me how I am and I'd say that everyone in the car would hear so I was too embarrassed to talk. He'd say, "It's ok, talk a little, lately..." and he's go on and on. Otherwise he'd be talking on the phone for forever. Right?

Z: It's good to keep at an energetic state, I'm afraid that I'd be tired.

H: To stimulate?

Z: Yes.

Who's more cranky?

H: (reads what Da S wrote) No? So you are saying that both of you don't get cranky?

S: Not cranky because I'm not cranky at all, as well as ZZ. We' already not limited to not being crank, we're already at the point of generosity. So we both aren't cranky.

Z: The both of us are really close, really. It's because we're a bit opulent, we really really a bit opulent.

H: A very simple thing but he can write a lot.

S: Yeah! If it's no then it's no, why write so much.

Z: You said to write the reason. (Pouts) You guys are bullying me.

S: See! Isn't he pouting?

Z: Pouting?! No! Alright, alright.

Who is easily angered?

S: I wrote: ZZ, he gets mad about everything.

H: Why?

S: For example, he always loves to ask me about ranking, that is: Who is the most handsome male celebritiy today? And I'd say for example Takeshi Kaneshiro. And then he'd be like (demonstrates by sighing and pouting). He'd pout and then look away and ignores me, he's already mad. Then 5 minutes later, "Who's 2nd place?" And I'd say, "Wang Leehom." He'd get mad again and then 5 minutes later, "How about 3rd?" And I'd say another person and he'd get mad once again. Then he'd ask, "Exactly what place am I in?" He just gets angry for everything. Like do you think I look good in this outfit and I'd tell him to fix it up here and there. He'd pout, he gets mad for everything. He'd always say, "Ok, ok, ok," he always loves to have a fit.

Z: She really described me like I am a little kid. I really like to read at the filming location.

H: Little kids also like to read, read series.

S: Yeah.

Z: When have I been mad to this type of degree?

S: You really have.

(Question. 1) If you were to use an animal to describe each other, what will it be?

B: Probably a cat, because he's very capricious, changing every once in awhile. I think he's more like a cat.

Z: Once she spreads out her wing, she's like a devilish bat. Sometimes when I hear her laughing at me, i can feel that evilness in her laughter, it's indescribable. It's like after her laughs, something horrible will happen. She really likes to make prediction of my life; she would say, "Mm, you don't look too good today. You must be extra careful these days." Such a crow mouth, everything she predicts is usually right. So since then, everytime she's about to say, "I can see..." I would say, "Mm." (Puts his index finger against his lips) Signaling Barbie to keep
quite. Then she would be like, "Ok ok..." And that's how everything end.

(Question. 2) Do you know which animal each other has used to describe you?

Z: It's probably a pig! Because I love to sleep!
(Host): It's a cat.
Z: Oh really?
B: I have a feeling that he must have used a deadly snake, a beast, lion, tigers...these type of stuff to describe me, since he must have used a fierce looking animal to describe me.

(Question. 3) Can you describe some of the special characteristics that your partner possesses?

B: I think...I think ZaiZai is a really adorable person, that's why I can easily get along with him. It's probably because he resembles my little sister a lot, so no matter what he does, I would think of him as my sister and I can always bear with him. For example, he would get really
naughty and then he would start acting dumb, acting really cute. And then sometimes he would get really moody and would even want to cry. That's what makes me think he's a really cute person.

Z: A really reasonable and mature woman. An excellent person! Because she said I'm as tame as a cat, so I must have to praise her. Oh nvm, this is BS, I have to praise her, because she knows a lot of stuff about me. Director, can you cut this part of the clip away?! (I think ZaiZai
is confused here, I'm confused too...)

(Question. 4) When there are times that you two would have different opinions, what would you do?

Z: We often have arguments, of course, usually these arguments start off from very minor problems, so why do we still argue because of these little problems? Afterwards, I started to realize that arguing is a way to get us along together. All along, it's because of these conflicts
that strengthen our friendship. Because she's a very witty person and she talks very sharply. Whereas I'm a person who has a lot of ideas, but has difficulty in expressing myself. So everytime, she would hold on to this weakness during our arguments. So afterwards, I'd always be the one to obey her, letting her get her way.

B: Not true! He never lets me get my way, he's usually the person who wins over me! Don't accuse me...haha! It's always me who obeys him, because he would always call me sister, so how can I not obey him? Afterall, being with him is like being with my sister, so I would always bear with him, root for him, comfort him...etc. So if we have different opinions, I'd let him get his way.

(Question. 5) Do you know what each other likes to eat? And what do you like to eat?

Z: Personally, I like to eat pork rib w/ rice. And because Barbie is a vegetarian, so I believe she likes to eat anything that only has veggie in it.

B: Because I'm a vegetarian, so I can eat anything that has veggie in it. As for Zai...he likes to eat pork rib w/ rice. He needs to eat a lot of rice and a big piece of meat.

(Host): So he's a meat eater.

B: Yes, he's a meat eater.

Z: Actually, there are many vegetables in pork rib rice! So my diet's really balanced! But she always denies it, nun!

(Question. 6) In <Mars>, which shot has the most NG takes? And why?

Z: I didn't make any NG takes! Fine, it's me. In <Mars>, the scene that has the most NG takes is actually an unimportant scene. That is when I had to say something to Qi Luo in the corridor of Ling's dad's house. Actually, I didn't have to say a lot of stuff, but that day I...I don't know what happened to me, probably I was too tired due to either filming too late, or I played too much. What happened was I kept on getting tongue ties! We got about 30 NG takes!..I believe. It really got on the director's nerve until he finally sai, "Good! Cut!" Then I felt really bad that I just wanted to jump into a river right at that instant.

B: Um..everytime Zai got to say a little bit more, he would get a lot of NG takes. (Laughingly said) Then he would get so many NG takes that he would start to get speechless or he would start to make up his own long dialogue. As long as the director doesn't cry, "Cut!" You can see
Zai continuing to make things up and he would go nonstop. (Laughs)

Z: I know! And so what? That's because I'm a person full of creativity and I don't like to memorize my dialogue, you know, it becomes very stiff if you memorize it. Personally, I like to read over my dialogue and I would express it using my style. They always say I make things up,
but I didn't! I'm protesting!

(Question. 7) Being able to work with each other after two years, what difference do you find in each other?

Z: The difference is...both of us got old! (Laughs) No...the difference should be found on her acting. (Clears throat), When I was acting in <MG> with her...I didn't know what acting is all about, so I didn't even know if her acting is good or bad. It's after <MG 1 and 2> that I started to act in other series and once I accepted <Mars>, I finally realized...Wow! Barbie is really...I've mentioned it before! I said she was....mm..within our age range, she is the most stabled actress, she can keep her acting skill really well and steady.

B: After working with him in <Mars>, I realized he's totally different. Even his facial appearance and body structure has totally changed. When I was working with him in <MG>, he didn't have a beard yet, and now that I work with him in <Mars>, I can see a beard coming out from him,
also he has become really strong, really manly. I can also see that he has done a lot of homework before accepting <Mars>, for example, his pronunciation and acting skill has improved a whole lot. There had been a few times that I got scared by him due to his excellent acting, I felt like I wasn't acting WITH him, but was actually WATCHING him act.

(Question. 8) If you get a chance to work with each other again, do you still wish to act as a couple?

B: I really want to work with ZaiZai again, doesn't matter if we act as a couple, enemies, siblings, or mother and son...as long as I get to work with ZaiZai again, I would really look forward to it. Because there is a sychronization between us, so whenever we act together, the whole atmosphere would become really delightful. Also, since we are really familiar with each other, and personally, we're great friends, so working with him makes me really happy.

Z: That's right, because we both are really tacit, so I believe no matter how intimate our scenes will be, or even no limitation, we can surely make a breakthrough performance out of it.

(Question. 9) Do you think he/she wants to act as a couple with you again?

B: I think he surely will. Because he doesn't like to work with strangers, so he would feel more comfortable working with me. I believe he wishes to work with me again, so that he doesn't have to handle strangers.

Z: Mm! She would surely want to act as a couple with me, because I know her, and she really likes to act as my partner.

The role of Chen Ling is tailor made for Vic Zhou. I can't think of any other actor who could have played the role so well. The other actors are handsome but too old for the role. Others can act well but they are not that handsome. Btw, it is cable or free TV?

The role of Chen Ling is tailor made for Vic Zhou. I can't think of any other actor who could have played the role so well. The other actors are handsome but too old for the role. Others can act well but they are not that handsome. Btw, it is cable or free TV?
mars is on the bay area's chinese channel: 26 for regular TV and channel 8 for cable. also i totally agree that zaizai is perfect for the role. at first i wasn't sure cuz i'm so used to him playing the quiet type and barbie playing the loud, tough girl from MG, but their acting is great so it was easy to accept them in their roles. i'm also kinna bias cuz i LOVE ZAIZAI! :) i'm only on episode 9 so i have a while till the end. the waiting isn't too bad though cuz so far it sounds like the movie follows the manga so i know the general idea of what is coming up. btw, does anyone have the song "Let Me Love You" and "Ling (Zero)"? and can you send it too me? sorry for asking so much :o and thanks again for the welcome.

I explained to her that this is already MARS volume 4 while the other have only one thread that started here in the new tsinoy. That the 3 volumes of MARS thread was in the old tsinoy. I think MARS thread # 3 is the most informative of all & the more pleasant to read since it contains all the critics and fans good reviews of this series. Volume 2 is also since it contains the pictures while they were shooting the series plus the media write-ups.

B: After working with him in <Mars>, I realized he's totally different. Even his facial appearance and body structure has totally changed. When I was working with him in <MG>, he didn't have a beard yet, and now that I work with him in <Mars>, I can see a beard coming out from him,
also he has become really strong, really manly. I can also see that he has done a lot of homework before accepting <Mars>, for example, his pronunciation and acting skill has improved a whole lot. There had been a few times that I got scared by him due to his excellent acting, I felt like I wasn't acting WITH him, but was actually WATCHING him act. ( Barbie Xu)


It's not only Barbie who noticed the improvements both in his physique and in his acting. Too bad he slimmed down again after being heartbroken.

And then she (meaning Barbie) would say to me, "Xu Xi Di, don't make any noice when you eat." And then I would think, what is she saying? And she would say, "Can you stop ~tsp tsp tsp~ when you eat!"And I would say, "I didn't..." And she would yell, "Look look look, there you go again! You're making the ~tsp tsp tsp~ sound again!" So I got really scared and stopped eating. On the way home, I would be speechless, feeling really scared and once I saw my mom, I started bawling, "Maaa...Shan Shan said I make the ~tsp tsp tsp~ sound when I eat!"
Cai: Poor you! Why don't you talk back to her?
Dee: Because she's too bossy.

Barbie: Yea, one day, Boss Yang came to the make up room and asked me if I want to be Nie Xiao Qian (the ghost)? And I said, "But I don't look a bit like Nie Xiao Qian, why do you want me to act her out?" And Dee, who was next to me, suddenly froze and thought, "Shouldn't I be Nie Xiao Qian?!?!?" and she froze for a long time until she finally asked, "Boss Yang, can I act in <A Chinese Ghost Story>?" And Boss Yang was like, "Ok, I'll find a role as a monster for you."

Dee: And then I got addicted to those girly manga, but Barbie didn't like it at all, because she likes to read those violent mangas. So I told her there was a really good manga called <Meteor Garden> and she said to me she wouldn't like those lovey dovey mangas. But one day, Angie Cai came to her and asked her if she wanted to be ShanCai in <Meteor Garden>. So that day, I got home....
Barbie:...and I asked her if she's ever heard of a manga called <Meteor Garden> and Dee said, "I have! I have!" So I told her Angie Cai had asked me to be ShanCai in <Meteor Garden> and her face had on this really complicated expression and she broken-heartedly said, "And you're gonna accept this role............"
Dee: And then it got worst, it happened to be <Mars>! When I was in highschool, I would be reading <Mars> with my good friends and we all would think, "Wow! The guy in the manga is really handsome!" So I would fantasize that guy as my boyfriend. But one day, she came home and told me she's gonna act in <Mars>.
Cai: And did you fantasize him (meaning Zai) as your boyfriend.
Dee: I'm ok with Vic, but what I cared most about was me and the female lead of <Mars>. But if the role was taken by other actress and not Barbie, I would be more mad. So it's better for my sister to take on this role.

So in order to find out, he had to fake this raping scene to see if I was once raped. And at the end, he found out everything and started crying with me.

Zai: Because of that incidence, we both argued for several days.
Dee: She has two weak points that you're not suppose to say to her, one is don't say that she has fat legs, the other is never say she looks tanned.

Cai: So everytime when Vic says something wrong to you, you would ignore him two days.
Barbie: Right, I ignored him for days and he had to apologize to me over and over again, but he would add, "No, I'm just saying when you sit like that, your calf would look bigger."
Zai: Wait, I need to explain. It's really weird, I didn't even say her calf was fat, I was just saying since she's a person who really cares about her image, how can she sit like that. So when I accidentally saw this, I said, "You should tuck your legs in instead."
Cai: I want to know how you apologized afterwards.
Zai: How I apologized? I frankly said, "You're getting whiter." And there was once that got really serious, she got mad at me for days, but we still had to film together, I felt really bad, so I told her, "You've seriously got whiter and your face has slimmed down a lot. And your face is glowing pink, you know..." I had to praise her much as possible. Then she got really happy and said, "Oh really?"

Zai: I want to say something. That is when we were filming together, she had once discussed about UFO with me. She asked me if I have seen one before. I told her when I was at my house in <Luo Dong> and I got really bored, so I started watching stars. Suddenly, I saw this thing that looks like a fire ball on my left. It was glowing and was slowly moving across the sky, getting closer and closer to our house. I thought I saw a UFO or some kind of meteor rock, so I quickly called my older brother to come up and take a look, but both of us got scared. Afterwards, when my brother left, I went back to take a look at it again and saw that it has crashed into the adjacent house. Then, the next morning when I woke up, I finally realized it's a lantern. Everything sounded so reasonable, but Barbie said, "It's a UFO." She was really positive that it was a UFO, not a lantern.

Cai: But I heard from ZaiZai that filming with Barbie is like filming with a tiger.
Barbie: Not true.
Cai: Besides having to apologize to her and having a cold war, you also need to discuss about UFO with her

Dee: Maybe when he's done with farming.

One day, I got into an accident and then she came up to me and said, "See? Told you your boyfriend is an unlucky person."

Cai: ZaiZai, when Barbie gives you those comforting words, do you feel any better.
Zai: No...it's just that....I find her predictions really mean, because everytime, like her sister (meaning Dee) said, she would always predict something unlucky. So I had to stop her from 'crow-mouthing' (cursing) me and she would say, "I didn't curse you, it's a fact that you're unlucky."
Cai: OK...so those comforting words don't comfort you at all.
Zai: Actually...yea, to me, they don't comfort me at all.

I don't have any intention to bid on that Ling painting. With that money I can go to Taiwan and stalk him or buy copies of MARS, SILENCE & his upcoming projects.

GMA 7 had been showing MARS teasers (although I haven't watched the last one) since last year. That's the 3rd teaser now but still no definite date.

MARS will re-air in KOREA

By the way, we're gonna have a chance to watch "Mars" through TV again on the end of August.

This time (MARS) will be MBC Movies. It is a cable TV station.

Last time "Mars" was broadcasted through MBC Dramanet.

The two companies are subsidiary companies of MBC which is one of the biggest TV station in Korea.

"Mars" will be aired at 8 pm on Monday and Tuesday from this coming August.

Other countries have already re-aired MARS but the rating is still good. And it's even on primetime.

The Philippines? Still zero.

Zaifreak! lol! I do agree with a Zai Zai wax figure! Visited an exhibition once and they sure look life-like!

I must admit the Philippines is falling way behind its Asian counterparts when it comes to the airing of Mars. Too bad. In a matter of exactly two weeks, Mars will celebrate it's anniversary of its first airing in Taiwan (July 31, 2004). And still it hasn't been show here in the Philippines. tsk tsk tsk.

I don't like to vent. But after all the efforts Zai Zai fans particularly Vicpower Philippines did in drumming up interest and supporting this series, still, GMA took it's sweet time. Oh well.

At least I got to enjoy the series during the first time it aired. And it will remain my most favorite series ever...for eternity actually. :o

Perhaps I'll celebrate Mars anniversary with another Mars marathon.

I miss mars as well, can remember.. have to go overnight at my friends house who lives very far from me, just so i can watch it.. it was well worth it to beg my friend nyahahaah!!!!! eventhough she doesnt like f4 (just like me...) (she adores GACKT) ahehehhe...

well except for zaizai of course...

and of course she dig it when she saw it... changed her opinion on zaizai and she digs mars, eventhough i never had overnight there again, she still watches it...

she even bought me some Wowo candies when she was in china last time...

while zaifreak was in her friend's house sms-ing us about Mars, zashikibuta, I and some zaichos were in conference crying...no more of wailing in missing the first telecast of Mars. Lmao!! remember zashi we stayed up till wee hours in the morning waiting for lic's screencaps and when we first saw them the excitement was so overwhelming I was suprised I did not suffer a heart attack.

we couldn't help not seeing Zai Zai as Chen Ling and so the following Saturday, the first of six or seven Mars ebs began.

True. It has always been my position that they should have shown this alongside its airing in other coutries like Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand, especially during the time when ZZ and the rest of the Mars cast were doing the rounds promoting the series. There were plans then that the Mars cast will promote in the Philippines after the Miracle Mars in Thailand. But still it did not push through.

Zaichos have heard a lot of rumors as to the delay of its airing here. But I guess all are just speculations. We all have to sit and wait. Personally, I'm tired of this issue. Whenever friends ask me when is the airing, I just roll my eyes. :rolleyes:

Now with the J-dorama wave being promoted here, I don't know how Mars will fit into the picture. Well, there is a possibility it may be shown soon considering that Mars is very much like a dorama.

yeah, we were literally bawling like babies cos we missed seeing the first episode of mars on cts :( then my phone kept alerting me of new messages from zaichos or friends who are watching mars and updating me about the scene being shown at the moment hehehe. good thing lic was quick to make those screencaps and brin was there to give us a blow-by-blow account of the episode. somehow it was like we were also able to watch it :)
