Bigger movie scenes with International locations

Cai Yue Xun states that they had always planned to do a movie version of Black & White. He had to wait until the drama became truly popular before pushing this project ahead. The <Black &White> movie script is currently in its first draft. The ending and sets will be bigger, and the hamburger place from the TV version will be blown up. Cai Yue Xun said: "The weapons and lethality are going to be 4 to 5 times greater than the TV version." I'm zhou glad that Black & White is making raves especially the high ratings...just hope Zai will have the official recognition that he's a good actor...a best actor nomination will do it and of course if he will win so much the better!

I'm starting to watch B&W already at mysoju.com... no comments muna for now except that Mark is also good but my heart belongs to Vic Zhou already ( sorry pag si ZZ nagiging corny ako) :p

Zaizai doesn't know about his compilation album

Zai's contract with Sony Music ended end of last year. As his current drama Black & White are having good reviews, Sony Music takes the opportunity to release a compilation album and the album title is "ÉîÇéÆ¦×Ó" to match with the drama.

The compilation album comprises of 36 songs, taken from his 3 solo albums and 3 F4 group albums with Sony Music. All his solo songs can be found in the compilation album. But Zai won't have any promotional events. Release of the album is targeted at loyal fans & japanese fans.

For the release of the compilation album, Zai's manager Zhi Xiang Li said they were informed only 1 week before the release of the album. Contract has ended but copyrights for the songs are with Sony Music. Sony Music has the right to release it. Zaizai only knew about the album after reading fans discussion in his official website.

Previously, F4's Vanness had revealed that Sony Music didn't have promotion budget for his compilation album. No one knows about its release. Now will Zaizai face the same thing? Sony replied, Zaizai is busy doing promotions for his new drama. Budget for the compilation has been used for production & packaging. The album consists of 36 songs and 365 pages of photo book, worth fans collection.

'Black and White' Overseas Copyright Sold Like Cow Steps, Thursday May 15, 2009 Taiwan
After PTS' B&W was broadcasted, the critics have been quite good, but what follows is a lot of controversies. First it was ZZ's damaging a borrowed TAG Heuer watch and the repairment fee's being paid late. Recently, it was exposed that extra and art/design assistant have not been paid for their work. According to source, although B &W was led by ZZ, overseas copyrights have not been sold out, including areas like Japan and Korea. It really can't compare with the bright sales of The Hospital which was played Yan Cheng Xu.

Production Team's Owing Fee Was Exposed

The Hospital was broadcasted three years ago. Due to Yan Cheng Xu's full power idol attraction, not only the overseas copyrihts were sold with over NT100 millions, it was the first TW drama which got on NHK in Japan. This year, it's director, Cai Yue Xun displays his big project, B&W, played by ZZ with newcomers Zhao You Ting and Chen Yi Han. However, the news of not being able to sell the copyrights in Japan and Korea was exposed. B&W's Executive Director, Zhong Shou Ying, said, "When The Hospital was broadcasted, the economy was better. For B&W, it is not unable to sell, but it just sells slowly. We are talking with some buyers already."

Not just that the profit return is slow, news of the production team's owing fee was exposed continuously. A Mr. Hu said that he asked his friend to lend 4 cars to the production team with NT4000 of fee, but it had not been paid. In addition, an art/designer assistant with a last name Zhong also indicated that she had not received any salary. Zhong Shou Ying said, "As the producer who is responsible for distributing the salary is not with us any more. We have already looked into it."

They have gradually created a path for themselves. "For a long period of time back then, Taiwanese idol dramas had taken an unrealistic route of pure love. From 'Meteor Garden' to 'It Started With A Kiss', it was all about prince charmings falling for cinderella in which issues regarding survival, pressures from work were all disregarded - such stories could best connect with the female audience's images regarding romance. However, such unrealistic idol dramas started to lose favour since last year. 'Fated To love You' changed the fomula last year. There were workplace problems and kinship problems inside, hence was well accepted by the audience."

As for the current year, he introduced the two most popular dramas at the moment: 'The Defeated Queen' and 'Black and White'. Both won the audience's favour through their unique style in the storyline and have became icons of the revolution occuring within Taiwanese idol dramas. "Other than the two leads in 'The Defeated Queen', what was most important was that it managed to reflect the psyche of the 'remainder women'2 resulting in many white-collars chasing after its episodes.

As for 'Black and White', you can say that we've threw in a lot of capital and spent a lot of effort on it to let the audience feel like they are watching a police vs thief show from Hong Kong. The moving and fast-paced storyline did away with the draggy issue that used to plague Taiwanese idol dramas. In 'Black and White', everyone presented an entirely new self that was refreshing in terms of style and character, be it the idols, Vic Zhou and Janine Chang, or the newcomers, Mark Chao and Ivy Chen."

Regarding the question of why Mainland idol dramas had been unable to progress forward, he felt that Mainland idol dramas had entered a wrong zone. Simply imitating will not work. Although netizens were more than happy to find out about this, director Tsai Yueh Hsun has issued a “warning” to PTS to not reveal any more plot.

In this week’s episodes, Zai Zai and Mark Zhao will be switching their roles as Pi Zi and Hero. The two have become close friends since the beginning of the drama but may once again face each other as enemies. Mark Zhao will even become wanted by the police. After finding out that Zai Zai is not the triad leader’s son, the netizens who have been supporting the Zai Zai-Ivy Chen love line are posting messages like: This is great news! Reporter: Do you mind very much about the terms Idol and idol dramas now?

Zai Zai: Yes, I very dislike being called an idol. I'm an actor, so I just want to do well in my performances. Zai Zai: Haha! I'm really expressing my true feelings. This drama had been in planning since four to five years ago. Why did it take so long? We were waiting for better technology and a good team. This type of drama has never been filmed in Taiwan before. The drama has a very good balance. Right now, other production teams are discussing about <Black & White>. They're not discussing just about a certain part of it, or the director or special effects, but they are discussing every part of the drama. For example: "How did you guys take this shot? How did you guys think of shooting it this way? How did you film this?" It's been like this. That's why we are qualified to say that it is so-far the most stylishly made drama in Taiwan.

Director Cai Yue Xun concludes: Zai Zai's performance was full of life and has exceeded my expectations tremendously. If I go out, most of the time, it's because I want to drive my car because I like cars very much. Usually, if my friends want to see me, they would need to buy some food and visit me because I don't go out! Reporter: You seem quite tough on the inside and not easily influenced.

After its broadcast in Taiwan, <Black&White> set off a craze and popularity, ratings reaching a height of 3.15 with 688,000 audience every minute, and created a 10-year highest ratings record for PTS since its inception 10 years ago. "Black And White" tops ratings. Zai Zai money-magnet, Tuesday June 30, 2009 TaipeiPTS aired the last episode of "Black And White" the night before yesterday. With a viewership rating of 4.03%, it beat the Golden Melody Awards ceremony broadcasted at the same time, achieving top viewership in the country. Its producer revealed that she wants to raise NT$1 billion in funds to shoot a film version and, laughing bitterly, said, "I don't have anymore house to sell!" Fortunately, the drama's high quality and Zai Zai's popularity as seenfrom the fan meetings he held in Japan these two days attracted Japanese investors. The film version is estimated to start filming at the end of the year.

The drama version of "Black And White" spent NT$10 million and although it was a hit, there has not been much returns yet. Its producer said that because they spent too much, they were really struggling. Previously, Director Zai Yue Xun had painfully agreed to remove a few scenes but just before the final episode was to be aired, the perfectionist felt that it was not satisfactory. He got Janine Chang to return to film some scenes. The scene showing her shooting back (at her attackers) in the final episode was actually only filmed last week.

Vic Zhou’s special interview: I want to turn 30 quickly, Tuesday June 30, 2009 Taiwan

Time is the most skilled thief in the world. The series <Meteor Garden>
created the F4 fever, and in the twinkling of an eye, it was around 8 to 9 years ago. When the pretty boy era hasn’t completely passed, the extremely introvert Zai Zai, has unwittingly walked away farther and farther. But, you can see an actor named Vic Zhou Yu Min, who would in a cool manner chewing his gum from on the television until in the press conference, giving an unrestricted yuppie look. Recently, Vic Zhou and director Cai Yue Xun were in Guang Zhou to promote their latest work <Black & White>, while also celebrating CETV’s fifth anniversary. In this interview, Vic revealed his metamorphosis since he embarked on his career 9 years ago.

Once had the thought to muddle along with the contract
20 years ago, Zai Zai Vic Zhou was a small boy who lived in his own world. Every day when he got home, he would lock himself in his room watching movies or listening to music. When going to school, he felt uncomfortable seeing people walking to and fro, he would rather climb the wall to enter his school. Zai Zai’s career starting experience has that kind of unreal similarities compared to the other actors’. He was accompanying his friend to have a screen test, but he was the one being selected. At that time, he was a total nerd. When he was accompanying his friend for a screen test for <Meteor Garden>, he was hiding in a trance in between dark stairs, and Angie Chai Zhi Ping had to coax and lie to him in assuring him to act as Hua Ze Lei. But Zai Zai in the beginning, who accidentally entered the entertainment circle, had no interest at all toward acting, he was indifferent even though he was called as the male ornament: “I don’t care whether people were calling me a male ornament, or that I depend on my good looks, doesn’t matter to me, because I really had no feelings.”

Zai Zai said that not long after he started filming <Meteor Garden>, he once was on Matilda Tao’s show, and when the advertisement was on,
Matilda asked Vic to take some kind of a psychological test by asking him some questions, and after they finished, Matilda’s conclusion was: “The entertainment circle doesn’t suit you.” Zai Zai pondered over Matilda’s words, and finally confirmed: “Maybe the entertainment circle really doesn’t suit me.” He secretly calculated this, the contract was 3 years, but he’d been working for only 1 year, so at that time his biggest idea was “how to muddle along with the contract.” But after he got along with the other actors and seniors, he felt that his personality was truly accepted and understood, and unwittingly he managed to go on, “I’m very happy that I can stay here up until now. My inherent quality hasn’t changed, and it is life and working experiences that have made me mature a lot.”

Cai Yue Xun prophesied: Zai Zai is the next Tony Leung Chiu Wai
2 years after finished filming <Meteor Garden>, Zai Zai was unable to let go the pretty boy image, not until in 2004, where he played as twins who suffered from dissociation of personality in Cai Yue Xun’s series <Mars>. He was able to make a breakthrough through his performance in the dark idol series, he also thinks that starring in the series marked a turning point in his career: “I filmed <Mars> after <Meteor Garden>, and then l realized that I was dealing with the issue of being an actor, and I started to ponder over how to make plans for myself. When I was filming <Mars>, I was determined to be an actor.” In <Black & White>, Zai Zai played as a policeman who handled cases with his intuition. He had to look handsome, while he also had lots of psychological and action scenes to film, and for him, this performance of his is his third model in his acting career. He also claimed that when filming, he would use some improvisations. Although he would still stick to the script in the order of the filming, but when the filming was officially started, people would realize that suddenly he’s using different methods to act, “At that time, there would be 2 kinds of powerful results. The first one was the actor who saw this kind of acting would laugh, the second one the cameraman sometimes thought that it was too funny, when he’s replaying the scene, all of us would notice that the camera was trembling.”

Having been in the showbiz world for 9 years, Zai Zai’s change is the most evident compared to the other F4 members. From being a pretty boy, he gradually changed into an actor who has self-control and is detailed. His face is not that delicate now, you cannot play the tricks of pinching his face to make water come out of it anymore. Instead, there’s a vague smoke and dust of experiences and vicissitudes of life. Witnessing Zai Zai’s 9 years of maturity and “aging” process, the habitually so-called father of Taiwanese idol drama, Cai Yue Xun, has good expectations of him: “If he continues to walk along on this road expanding himself, I believe that one day Zai Zai would become like Tony Leung Chiu Wai, the former will have the capability of the latter. finally i was aBle to finished watching the final 2 episodes of Black White!

it's so hard for me to finished it coz some links at viikii.net & at mysoju was Broken and some links the suBtitle wasn't done yet though it was stated there that the english suBtitle was already 100% completed...

well the long wait is finally over!!! i'm going to miss pi zi!!!

mayBe his love story with chen lin will continue at the movie version thats why they don't end up together in this series!!!

You know what?! :rolleyes: I'm more happy with the fact that B&W has very high ratings than the so many praises for Vic Zhou's superb acting because I already know that he's a good actor. He received so many praises already in MARS & I was so disappointed he was not nominated. I'm really hoping he'll win an acting award for his role in B&W. I also wish that the judges/voters will not feel that the media is pre-empting them with their choice like what happened in MARS.

Cai Yu Xun is very much taken with Zaizai's acting since MARS...hmmm I can't remember if he praised any other member of F4 to that level.

I'm also wondering if the role of Pi Zi is really meant for him...probably yes, and Mark's role is meant for JY...in that case who is Ken & Vanness???...well, I'm just thinking since Black & White was originally meant for F4 although I know they made some changes because they don't have 4 male leads anymore

7 Years after "Make A Wish"...

Last night, popular Taiwanese idols, Vic Zhou and Ariel Lin reunited in Guangzhou for a fan meeting sponsored by "Master Kong Jasmine Tea" - a drink company (see above pic). At the event, they were asked about this collaboration, the first since their first collab 7 years ago for Vic's "Make A Wish" MV. Vic laughed and said that Ariel has transformed from an innoncent young girl into a professional and well-rounded actress, while Ariel said that Vic's smile hasn't changed at all through the years, and he still takes good care of his juniors.

Vic also said that there are three type of people in the entertainment industry: Type 1, people who know how exactly to adapt to the environment/atmosphere to make a good collaboration; Type 2 have more of their personality and is more out-spoke; Type 3 doesn't care about others' opinions and input at all. Vic described that Ariel is Type 2 like he is. "She has her own opinions, similar to me. We're not the quiet obedient type as most people think we are." However, Zai Zai also mentioned that he has gone through many stages where he accepted deals where he did not fully agree to. "I think, I would know myself more than than my company knows me. I would know what my future plans should be."

Ariel Lin has been very busy promoting her own solo album, "Blissful Encounter". She said that even though she is still a newbie when it comes to singing, she believes that the market requires various types of singing voices. She also expressed that she would like to step out the "idol" image, so to prove that she should be taken seriously in the singer market.

Ariel added that she is a very quiet girl and has sometimes felt very out of place in current society where everything moves quickly and efficiently (like a fast food restaurant). When talking about unlucky in love, she answered, "I am someone who looks to people who have very deep emotions."

B&W will be broadcast on Astro from 28 Aug.

Zai, Director Cai & Zhao You Ting will be in KL for promotions on 9 Aug.

As the 3 guys are under a tight schedule, upon reaching on 9th afternoon they can only attend press conference and followed by a "closed door" meet the fans session. The next morning, they will fly to Singapore and continue promotions.

In other words, there won't be any public promo event.

- Da Li Ren said that he was staying at this hotel/ motel in Kaohsiung (I think he was filming his movie there too) and was very surprised to meet ZZ there. And thought why is he here? He later found out from Xiao Hui that ZZ would like to stay together with the rest of the cast and crew as they are one team/ drama. After he said that, he gave the "thumbs up" to ZZ !
- ZZ was really modest and shook his head when Da Li Ren gave him the thumbs up. He replied that all the cast and crew are staying together and he don't need any special treatment or requirement. All he needs is a space for him to sleep comfortably at night, that would be enough.
(Awww....don't you just love this simple and humble guy?)
- ZZ also said that he is someone who is very emotional and cries easily when he watches a movie. So that's why he seldom go to the cinema in case he gets emotional, and he is worried others will see it which will make him feel embarassed.

In this drama, Zhou Yu Min displayed his 9 years performance skills, giving his best performance for the role of "ruffian" Chen Zai Tian. Even high-profile director Cai Yue Xun gave him high evaluation, saying that Zhou Yu Min has broken away from the idol group and has entered the state of maturity as an actor.

F4 star Vic Chou may try to blend in, but he still can't hide his star power, Tuesday August 11, 2009 Singapore
HE REFUSED to stay in a five-star hotel, opting instead to share his film crew's NT$400 ($17) a night accommodation.

Certainly not something one would expect from Taiwanese superstar Vic Chou.

Vic is famed for being one quarter of boyband F4 (now known as JVKV), a foursome that gained regional blockbuster success after starring in the 2001 Taiwanese mega-hit, Meteor Garden.

Said Vic, 28: 'When I was young, due to differences in backgrounds and things that we owned, my friends and I had many misunderstandings.

'For me now, I want to be treated the same as everybody else. As long as we are all happy together, that's good enough for me.'

Vic was in town yesterday to promote his latest television drama, Black & White, along with co-stars Mark Chao, Ivy Chen and director Tsai Yueh Hsun.

The action drama tells the story of two detectives who are as different as night and day - Vic plays the irreverent one while Mark plays the goody-two-shoes.

Black & White is currently showing on Mondays to Fridays at 8.30pm on Mei Ah Drama Channel (SingTel mio TV Ch 73).

Vic explained that during the filming of the series, he was offered luxurious accommodation which he felt was 'unnecessary'.

'A small space that is sufficient for me to sleep in and put my belongings will satisfy me greatly.

'I don't like to be thought of as being better than everybody else,' he said.

The heartthrob's hope of 'blending in' was apparent - literally - when he suddenly pulled the lever to lower his chair, causing him to sit lower than everybody else.

But his efforts to go unnoticed were in vain.

Director Tsai was addressed by the media next and was asked to rate the competence of his cast.

The director, oblivious to Vic's 'lowered position', singled out the actor and commended him for turning in an outstanding performance in the show.

Instead of owning the moment - as all eyes were on him - Vic looked solemn and squirmed uncomfortably in his seat, constantly sneaking peeks at his co-stars seated beside him.

And his humble reply?

'My biggest challenge was worrying about how to do justice to such a good script.'

Answering reports that series-wise, he has been insured for NT$1 million whereas co-star Mark was only insured for NT$300,000, Vic was quick to say that Mark should have been insured for a bigger amount than him.

Didn't work

His reason? Because Mark was a better fighter than him.

But however hard he has tried to play his success down, it seemed that Vic's wish to assimilate with his peers has not been entirely fulfilled.

When co-star Ivy was asked to choose between dating Vic or Mark, she chose the latter without hesitation.

The reason for her choice caused everyone to break out in laughter.

Said Ivy: 'Mark and I are closer in age so we probably can get along better.

'But the bigger reason is that I'm terrified of Vic. He really intimidates me such that I am even scared of talking to him.'

Ivy, by now a bundle of nerves, tried to elaborate further but constantly tripped over her words and eventually gave up speaking altogether.

Joked Vic: 'She's like someone who dug a hole, got in and now finds it impossible to get out.'

Could it be that Vic alienates people not because of his 'star status', but rather his dark, sullen side?

The self-confessed introvert admitted to suffering from severe mood swings which he said could cause him to go from happy in one second to 'extremely down' in the next.

In recent reports, it was surmised that this was the cause of his break-up with Taiwanese starlet Barbie Hsu, whom he had dated for two and a half years.

Barbie told Chinese media that Vic had, at times during their relationship, locked her in his bedroom with him and ordered her not to talk to him while he played video games and watched TV for hours on end.

Said Vic: 'I don't like places where there are many people, in fact I have a phobia of crowds. That's just the way I am.

'But I'm not stingy with love. If I meet someone that I really like, I would go all out to sacrifice for this relationship.'

Vic Zhou hopes to be the angsty hero, Tuesday, August 12, 2009 Singapore
Black and White is Taiwanese actor Vic Zhou's latest police and thief drama series, which has been lauded for its good plot. It will soon air on mioTV. A meet-and-greet session with members of the cast was recently held for fans of the drama series.

Despite his breakup with Barbie Hsu a year ago, the media continued to relentlessly hound Zhou for more inside details on their separation, but he has since been keeping mum about the topic. During a recent charity event held in Taiwan, he shared his experience with the media's predatory nature. "I don't mind it on a personal basis. But the more nonchalant I am, the easier I fall into the traps. At that time, I was really enjoying myself in the atmosphere of the event, and was honest in my replies. However the media tried to make my gossip the topic for the event. It marred the entire purpose behind the event and destroyed its meaning. Thus, no matter if it is for myself or for the event, in order to show a responsible working attitude, I will avoid answering these questions in future."

Despite his unpleasant experiences with the media, he is unafraid of being in a new relationship. He feels that it is natural to be in love and will not be bothered with others' opinions. "I hope that when a relationship ends, it will be beautiful with no regrets."

In Black and White, Zhou plays a brutish policeman. His ability to assimilate himself wholly into the role impressed audiences and portrayed a different side of him. Director Cai Yue Xun, even praised the actor for his good acting skills. On his successful portrayal in Black and White, Zhou credits his impressionable acting to his character's personality which provided him with more room for experiment and allowed him to fully display his acting chops.

Like the show's title, the actor compared the stark difference between the hooligan character and his own personality, "I love being quiet. I love being alone. I don't like it when it is noisy. However occasionally, I will want to find someone to chat with and do some crazy things with my friends."

Zhou also expressed that he would like to have a tough-guy attitude in life but yearns to be a pillar of support and a hero in the eyes of his lover. He further explained that the term "hero" should not be likened to that of comic book superhero Superman.

The drama will also have a movie spin-off, which is a continuation of the TV series. Filming is due to start at the end of this year. Estimated to cost up to S$6million, fans can look forward to a more complete and wholesome ending in the celluloid version as promised by the director.

Vic Zhou holds Ariel Lin's hand in Nanning to promote, admits to being an Otaku*

On July 26, Taiwan idols Zai Zai and Ariel Lin were in arms for the Moli Tea "Meeting Sweetly With You" press conference. The two, who collaborated again after a period of 7 years, had a lot of chemistry. Zai Zai praised Ariel for becoming more mature, a young lady he admires for her calmness. He himself during the meeting, kept on biting his fingers. This let his manager and the host both sweat a bit for his "immature" appearance.

During the interview, Zai Zai said: "Ever since F4 debuted nine years ago, I'm almost 30 now. So I can't keep my shy, cute and immature image anymore in front of the media. According to Hong Kong media reports, Vic Zhou (Zai Zai) has recently been appointed as the Hong Kong ambassador for the United Nations’ Children’s Fund (UNICEF). Earlier when he attended an event in Hong Kong, he revealed that he hopes his old love Da S will find true love as soon as possible, at the same time he also denied rumours of Fan Bing Bing ‘electrifying’ him.

Zai Zai will give his full support for the upcoming charity event, organised by UNICEF to help fund-raise for the victims from the Si Chuan earthquake. He expressed that if he has the opportunity in the future, he will personally go and visit the local children.

Zai Zai, who loves children, previously pledged that he would get married and have children at 25. Now he’s realized that that’s unrealistic. Not sure if you know, but China Hunan TV has just launched their version of Meteor Garden which is called “Let go and see Meteor Shower”.
The storyline is supposed to be different from the original, but it is still 4 rich guys and 1 girl. The ratings are apparently very good but there is both love and hate reaction from audience. Anyway, comparison to the other versions is inevitable and the netizens have been debating about this online pretty passionately. In particular, the role of LEI (who is called Duan Mu Lei) is the one most debated on and many started comparing him with ZZ’s portrayal. Some of the news articles that came out are pretty funny (really pity the China actor who had to face a lot of criticism) and I was pleasantly surprised at how much praises ZZ got from the reporters for his portrayal as LEI.

Here are two of the articles (this is meant as a criticism to the China actor but more to show you what the China audience and media thinks about ZZ as LEI) :

- This article really made me laugh, yet at the same time pity the China actor. The writer was pretty frank in his/ her opinion (maybe because the actor is from the same country and hence the writer was more critical). - Anyway, the writer compared the 3 other actors from Taiwan (Zaizai), Japan (Oguri Shun) and Korea (Kim Hyun Joong) vs China (Yu Hao Ming). I just want to focus on what was said about Zaizai (summary) :

1) With the high standard (of HZL) set by Taiwan, it is obvious that both Japan and Korea faces pressure to compete

2) Conditions to be Hua Ze Lei : If not beautiful, not qualified !
a. (under the pix) Zaizai, needless to say. Oguri Shun and Kim Hyun Joong are also in the category of refined beautiful flower boys.

c. In terms of close-up camera shots, not anyone can be at equal level to Zaizai.

3) Hua Ze Lei Killer Skills : If not melancholic, not qualified!
a. (under pix) In terms of being melancholic, Zhou Yumin who is the one with no acting experience but is the best role model
b. Among the three, Oguri Shun has the most rich and variation in acting. But Zaizai who was singled out as not having acting skills is perhaps the only one who portrayed the most naturally the depression of a youth in Lei. He really made people feel pain and love for him. Whereas the others were “acting” too much.

4) Hua Ze Lei Hidden Rules : If not model-like (stylish), not qualified
a. (under pix) In past history, the look of Lei is simple and stylish. Although Zaizai’s styling is rather Taiwanese, but his temperament is able to overcome that
b. Zaizai’s styling and dressing is obviously not comparable to the Japan and Korean version, but if following the characteristic of the original work of the author - which is simple and pure, he does not lose any marks.

Vic Chou, Ariel Lin “embrace” on Chinese Valentine’s Day in Shanghai, Thursday August 27, 2009 China
Yesterday (Aug. 26) Vic Chou and Ariel Lin, along with 10,000 people were at Shanghai’s Yuanshen Sports Center Stadium to take part in a special QiXi (Chinese Valentine’s Day) event -- “10,000 People Embracing,” marking a new Guinness Book of Records for the highest number of couples embracing. Vic, who’s popular with the ladies, seemed to have been caught in a dilemma – first saying that hugging Ariel gave him the best feeling (?) and then turning around and couldn’t seem to forget Da S, remembering the car accident four years ago.

Hard to forget love affair with Da S

Vic Chou and Ariel Lin participated in an “adventure party” in Shanghai yesterday. The theme was to create a new world record for couples embracing, with the couples required to hug each other tightly for 10 seconds. A lot of observers were curious how these two non-lovers would embrace other. Ariel looked kind of shy, while Vic, who’s filmed several “hug” scenes in his dramas, helped her out by stating frankly that the most-felt hug for him was when they embraced each other during the filming of the [Kangshifu] ad. “Lin Yi-chen looks small, slim and strong (?), but embracing her gives [one] quite a feeling.” [*sorry for the sucky translation: 看上去瘦小的林依晨感覺蠻結實，抱起來很有感覺。]

But when asked about his thoughts on the most romantic scene/spot, it looked like Vic was unable to forget Da S. “As long as it’s the right person, the woman that you favor in your heart, I think any place would become romantic, even if something unexpected happens, like the scene of a car accident.” One couldn’t help but remember the year 2005 when Vic was in a car accident and Da S cared for him, which was the beginning of their love affair. Asked if this “accident” refers to that incident four years ago, Vic said: “Everybody knows what it is.”

Every drama is a “transformation”

Vic’s transformation in “Black and White” has caught a lot of people’s attention. Yesterday, he clarified that he didn’t take on this role because he wanted a change (*to transform himself). “Actually, I’ve tried to make a transformation in every drama that I’ve done. I don’t really know what ‘type’ I am, so I have different characterizations (?) in each drama.”

What do Vic and Ariel, who have never collaborated [in a drama], hope they could work together on screen? The two were interviewed separately, but their answers were of “one mind.” Ariel said she hoped it would be drama on the relationship between a psychiatrist and a patient, as “this could be a test of [our] acting skills.” As for Vic, he said he hoped they could do a non-mainstream art film, such as a “crazy person” because “this type of films can help raise our acting skills. I’ve been performing for 10 years, I don’t want people to keep on viewing me as a ‘vase.’ That would be unfair to Director Tsai [*not sure how to translate this, what he actually said was這樣對不起柴導 something like he would feel sorry/ashamed for not doing better or improving since his discovered by Dir Tsai/Cai]. He also said that he’s focusing on acting and wouldn’t consider releasing an album for the time being.

"Zai zai" Vic Chou has just ended a 2-month break of self shut-off. " Xiu Jie Kai and I will be sitting on the same sofa without talking at all, and it was only when he hears my stomach rumbling that he will ask me if I am hungry and force me to eat." Zai zai did not leave the house and all three meals were taken care of by Xiu Jie Kai.

Admits to poor body resistance, exercise for health

Later on, Zai zai went home often to Luodong to accompany his family, and also cultivated affection with his 2-year old nephew. His mobile phone has many pictures of his little nephew. "I love kids, but I must be fully prepared before I have one of my own."

Zai zai accepted a camera advertising for a NTD7million reward, making a rare comeback (after long hiatus) and willing to cope with overwhelming queries from media, such as about Mark Zhao's rumours of "Big Headed Disease", and even about H1N1. Zai Zai said that he had known from the start that Mark Zhao will become popular, and from early on has told Mark what he will face. I really enjoyed the above video in particular where Jimmy Hung talked about the different actors' martial art ability. In summary, he was saying that some of the actors (like Mark and Xiu) were quite stiff at the initial training, except for ZZ. And that ZZ is very agile and quick and learns very fast. And Jimmy said it is a pity that ZZ don't have many action scenes, and later he requested from Dir Cai for more action scenes in the last fight for ZZ.
* I have always thot ZZ is super great at action and super agile. Now I long for more action movies for ZZ!
