Q: When you are together with F4 members, it seems that the three of them are truly cheerful with smiles as if they are really happy?
Vic: Not at all, they are only trying to pretend to be happy! (Laugh)
Q: For the three of them, it seems you are their ‘medicine’, how do you feel towards that?
Vic: I am only laughing with them (Laugh) Actually, everyone do have difficult moments during work, we just try to joke around to ease the stress.
Q: From your point of view, not even being notice from fans, where exactly does F4 members’ charm come from?
Vic: Each one of us just wanted our fans to be able to see 100% of our charm. But during work, we will re-discover ourselves and there should be more areas that maybe even we do not know. For example, for this time, for my DVD and Pictorial book, my upcoming work, maybe there will be some new areas that I may discover on myself, so I will continue to keep re-discovering myself.
Q: Now that F4 had their own solo work and events, how do you all keep in touch with each other?
Vic: Sending birthday wishes is a must. For example, recently for VanNess birthday, we went out together for a meal! Lately, we are having much less time to spend together, like I may be in Taiwan while the rest of the guys are at somewhere else. We miss out on each other many times. This time I flew in from HK to Tokyo, it happened that the morning before I set off here, VanNess had just arrived in HK. He gave me a call once he arrived and then learned that he was staying in the same hotel as I was. So after I got off the phone, I immediately went to VanNess’ room and both of us chatted till dawn. We rarely have such opportunities, hence that day was really happy!
Q: What did you guys talk about?
Vic: VanNess will bring lots of DVD when he has to work overseas, so that when he has free time, he will stay in the hotel to watch the DVDs. That night, it is the same, we started off watching a DVD movie, then I suddenly remembered something and asked VanNess, “Do you have that recorded DVD of your Japan concert?” He answered ‘Yes, I brought it’. Then I continued to say, ‘Then I want to watch that, why do you hide it from me?’ VanNess answered ‘It’s not nice to show you.’ He was obviously feeling shy to show it to me (Laugh). ‘What is there to be shy about’, I went on to persuade him. Finally we watched the concert DVD. While watching it, we chatted a lot. Since the DVD lasted 2-1/2 hours, after that it was dawn already (Laugh). I had to set off to Tokyo, so I quickly went back to my room to tidy my luggage for the trip.
Q: So you did not get any sleep the whole night?
Vic: I guess VanNess had prepared to accompany me till dawn, because I did not plan to sleep. Furthermore my flight to Tokyo was very early that morning. I was worried that I may oversleep, thus, I kept awake all the while.
Q: What are your comments after watching VanNess’ solo concert DVD?
Vic: It was great! At March this year, for the F4 concerts, VanNess’ performance was already very good. This time at Tokyo was even better, better than he was in HK. But when we were watching the Tokyo concert DVD, VanNess will fast forward all his talking portions. He fast forwarded many times, so I asked why he did that, he said ‘Not nice to show you’ (Laugh). VanNess frequently said that the portions where he spoke Japanese, it’s not nice to show them to others. I said ‘But I want to watch, just let the DVD play at the normal speed!’ He replied ‘Ok, then…be it.’ Finally I got to watch everything. Spent 2-1/2 hours (Laugh)
Q: Did you notice anything special?
Vic: During the recent F4 concerts, VanNess had been trying to say there are rooms for improvement to have a better performance. I felt this is a very wonderful thinking. While we are putting 100% effort in doing a job, after it is done, being able to look back to review what are the areas that we need to emphasize and to improve further when we get to do it next time, we will be able to get a more perfect end-results, getting more ideas here and there, etc… I felt I can use also use this method to make myself ‘grow’ ‘too.
Q: What do you think of your nickname being ‘rain god’ where everyone knows of this?
Vic: Yes. (Laugh), Tokyo’s weather had been gloomy lately, I think it is due to my presence that it started to rain. *sigh* Me being the ‘rain god’ is rather widely known here? (Laugh). It is a common joke among my fans and F4 fans (Laugh). When VAnNess departed from Beijing to HK, there was a rainstorm, his fans will jokingly say, ‘must be due to me being around for work taking place in Beijing that caused the rainstorm’
Huh (Laugh), but I guess it is because VanNess fans also wanted to see me! If this is the reason, I think they will think of me whenever it rains. (Laugh) If I am really that powerful, then our fans will no longer need the weather forecast!

Answer: Which actors do I like? Uh…[looks mischievous] Cai Yue Xun. [laughs] The director of Meteor Garden. [ZaiZai explains to the interviewer] He used to be an actor.

Question #5. Your dream?

Answer: My dream is…to have a quiet and stable life. Like building a small cabin made of wood on a field of grass, and then raise some small animals, that kind of dream.

Question #6. Your favourite colour?

Answer: Favourite colour? Blue and black.

Question #7. What is the first thing you do when you get home?

Answer: It’s… Well, the first thing I do when I get home is to take off my socks and my pants. [tries to suppress laughing but fails]

Answer: When I was young I dreamt of becoming an archaeologist who excavates dinosaur fossils.

Question #12. Where would you like to live in the future?

Answer: In the future…I would still want to go back to Yilan and live there, yes.

Question #13. What kind of music do you like?

Answer: The kind of music that I like? I like Jie Lun’s music.

Answer: When I was young I like to listen to Andy Lau’s songs.

Answer: Time of day? When I’m at home sleeping.

Question #16. What is the kind of people you can’t stand?

Answer: I most dislike…[closes eyes and thinks] I dislike people who are too…too…too phony and insincere the most. Unreasonable people are also quite hateful. Let me see if there’s anything else… [laughs] Yep, that’s it I guess.

Question #17. What would you do if the world ended tomorrow?

Answer: If the world ended tomorrow…I’d go and immediately buy the car that I've always wanted to buy. [laughs]

Question #18. What would you want to be if you could start all over (reincarnated?)?

Answer: Reincarnated…I’d still wish to be reincarnated as a man, right.

Question #19. What was your biggest failure?

Answer: Biggest failure? [thinks for a long time] Mmm, dressing up as a female maid in the series "Poor Prince". Yeah, I think I looked a bit…too much like a girl. And also, baring my ears. [starts laughing]

Question #20. Who do you consider your biggest rival?

Answer: I think I know…I’ve never really thought about having a rival. Neither do I need a rival. But I do have someone whom I admire and look up to very much, a yardstick against which I measure myself. That is, I hope that I could be like Andy Lau and be as…as professional as he is.

Question #21. You are an actor and a musician. How do you feel about the professions?

Answer: I have…I have had a music album released, as well as act in TV series. As an actor, I really…being an actor, I have a very, very deep fascination with it and I am fraught with opinions and ideas [gestures with hand], and I am very persistent and dogged in a lot of aspect. Often while we’re filming with directors I am more familiar with, I would discuss things with them, just as if he’s the teacher, and I’m the student. I’d frequently ask them questions like taking cues and when to enter a scene. Being an actor holds a great interest for me.

As for being a singer, because I myself don’t…that is, I never had much self-confidence when it comes to singing. Because singing is just a hobby of mine, perhaps I’d go to KTV bars with friends, but that’s it. Then suddenly when I was about to release a music album, those days spent in the recording studio were really very excruciating. One day inside the recording studio to me feels more or less like the entire period of time it takes to film a TV series. Even now, I still…still feel that a singer’s job is harder to grasp, and I don’t have as many ideas or opinion about it besides.

Question #22. What are you most interested in now?

Answer: I’ve been interested in a few things lately. One of them is that I suddenly…because I’ve never been a person who’s very fond of sweets and desserts before. But lately… Well, I’ve never comprehended why my friends would order dessert after a meal whenever we eat at a restaurant. I’d say no to them every time. And then one day, I finally took a bite. And suddenly I realized that, desserts are quite delicious after all. All of a sudden I started researching it: what kind of cake or which shop makes delicious desserts. I started…started making comparison, and then I went to so many, many, many shops to eat. Often, as soon as I get home I would…let’s say maybe there’s a pastry shop nearby that I saw selling sweets and pastries. I would buy one of every kind of sweets and then bring them home. Not necessarily to eat them myself. I’d let my friends eat them, and I would taste whichever one they think is good. Lately, these desserts have kindled my interest greatly. I guess it can be considered as a turning point in life.

Another one is, uh…lately, I suddenly felt very interested in this thing called dancing. It’s because we’re going to hold a concert recently, and during the preparation stage we kept thinking what kind of “me” are we going to show the fans this time. Because in the past everyone liked to joke that I was a robot. And even if I danced, the most that they would concede is that I’m a robot that can dance, or a robot that has been greased and lubricated so my movements are more fluid. They’ve never said that I’m very…very…that I’m very facile or agile. So this time I thought to specifically choose something that would really demonstrate my physical agility. I learned dancing. And I found out that dancing is really not an easy thing. But then I also found out that I’ve actually got pretty good genetics in dancing. But…actually, I mean…Aiya…, maybe just a bit good. I’m scared that you’ll be disappointed when you see it. [laughs] But dancing has triggered a great interest for me. Hopefully, maybe in my next album there’ll be many songs that I could…I could sing more dance-related songs, or songs that everybody can dance to.

Question #23. What kinds of sweets do you like?

Answer: There’s a…a somewhat expensive and high end teppanyaki grill restaurant in Taiwan that I recommend. It’s called "犇". That’s three "牛", pronounced as "bēn" [or pən1]. At the end of their teppanyaki meal they would serve a kind of dessert. The outer layer is…outwardly it’s like a chocolate cake, and it makes you feel that maybe it’s just an ordinary chocolate cake. But what a surprise…the moment your fork or your knife slice through it, it erupts like a volcano and the 'Bam!' – hot, molten liquid chocolate inside flows out and fills up the plate. There’s even steam coming out from it. For me, and my friends agree, it’s one of the most delicious desserts we’ve ever tasted.

Question #24. Do you have methodologies to improve yourself and enhance the skills for being an actor and a musician?

Answer: I feel that I haven’t immersed myself enough as a singer, therefore a lot of times I leave it to the producers of the recording. But I feel that these producers are also very nice people. They’ve been very good to me, and have also been very willing to teach me. A lot of songs can be interpreted in different ways. When I’m singing, when I step inside the recording studio, they’re all very willing to teach me and tell me how this line or that line should be sung. On this aspect, as a singer I’ve mostly relied on the guidance of these producers.On the other hand, in acting, I make use of my free time to watch movies. Sometimes my friends will make some recommendations on which films are good, or so-and-so did great acting, so that I can observe and learn. I’d rent these films and watch them at home. I also frequently discuss these with directors. Often, lately I often…because I lived in a hotel for a time while I was filming my last project, and the hotel room had several multi-sided mirrors. What I do the most is to stand in front of the mirrors in the hotel room and act or make different facial expressions. And then I think about how this expression in this scene is better if viewed from that angle. The conclusion is…half-and-half. There’ve been quite a few misses. [giggles]

Question #25. Tell us your plan for future. Will you challenge other fields besides acting and music or will you continue in acting and music? What are you considering for yourself for the future?

Answer: Actually, I very much hope that I will be a very professional actor in the future. I really want to take on the role of a lunatic…a psycho who even has split personality syndrome. You can have a crack at many different roles all at once. Actually, privately, I’ve always wanted to become a professional race car driver one day because I love cars and driving them. In the past, there hasn’t been a very good…very good venue in Taiwan for racing cars, so I haven’t much free time to go there expressly to compete or to practice. But lately…Taiwan would probably set up a better racing circuit in the near future. I hope… A lot of young people like to drive fast cars. I also like to drive fast cars. But I feel that safety is very important. One shouldn’t drive fast cars or race on the streets or highways and instead spend this energy on the race tracks. And seeing as sometimes there’s no way to use up all these energy, if I wanted to drive (fast) cars then it’s best to become a professional racer.

Question #26. What is your motto in life?

Answer: My motto? [laughs] Really? Alright, let me think…what’s that about giving way to others and the possibilities are endless? What’s the line before that? [someone off-screen answered] Oh, "忍一時風平浪靜, 退一步海闊天空." [laughs loudly as soon as he said it] Yes, "忍一時風平浪靜. 退一步海闊天空". [translation: "Endure for a while and all will be at peace. Give way to others and the possibilities are boundless.” ] I think that this quote is most appropriate for my life right now. Because, well perhaps there are a lot of unnecessary conflicts in my life, or perhaps there are too much turmoil troubling me. But if I endure just a little, or give way just a little, and redirect my thoughts in another direction, then maybe I can find a happier way out.

I hope that everyone will still welcome and support us the next time we come to Japan. We will also strive harder in our work, give you better films or make even better music albums for you, and we won’t disappoint you. I hope that everyone will "qi dai" [means 'look forward to it']. "Qi dai". (臍帶 = umbilical cord) [laughs hard] Oh, it isn’t funny? I like word games that play with words that sound similar the most. [laughs]

Vic and Da S are deeply in love and are unseperable! They have always planned to get married but Da S's mum has not agreed. Finally Da S's mum's views on this couple has softened. She no longer rejects them as a couple and hints that next year there may be plans of marriage!

Da Zai Lian (Da S, Zai Zai's love) has passed the test of two car crashes, and their relationship has become steady, they both see each other as a perfect other half. It has been rumoured that Vic and Da S have always had plans to get married, and they have promised not to find another lover in their life. The only problem had been Da S's mum's views on the couple getting married. Da S's mum reckons that Vic is too young, and is worried that he isn't mature enough. She also commented earlier that 2 of her 3 daughters have been married and she doesn't want Da S to get married so soon. She would like Da S to stay by her side a little longer.

Yesterday Tsui Ma Ma accepted a reporters request for an interview, and during the interview she denied that she is against Vic and Da S getting married. She said that they both are very busy and have a lot of contracts and so are not able to get married in the near future, and that when all their contracts have expired they can step foot into the church at any time.

At the moment Vic and Da S have been separated as Zai Zai is in Tokyo promoting << Silence >>. Yesterday he showed off his cooking skills on a television programme. Vic used to only be able to fry eggs and cook instant noodles, but for his new tv prog. << Tasty relationship >> he has had cooking lessons for over a month. When asked if his future wife needs to be able to cook, Vic, as a perfect boyfriend answered, [whoever has time should cook! I won't pressure my other half to cook!]

Whilst boyfriend Vic is in Tokyo promoting, Da S is having a short vacation and has chosen to spend the time with her sister shopping and eating. When she was out with Xiao S and Fan Xiao Xuan shopping, she tailed behind whilst the other two walked happily along, poor Da S so lonely without Zai zai by her side!

Pumunta po ako sa SnK shop at nagtanong sa isang staff dun... at ito ang mga sinabi nya sa akin na ikinatuwa ko....

Magkakaroon pa daw ng isang branch ang SnK dito sa manila.... ROBINSON'S ERMITA 2ND FLOOR... natuwa ako dito kasi malapit sa dorm ko...hehehe on going na daw ung construction at magbubukas daw un DECEMBER 2006 so watch out natin un!
By next year makakaroon na din ng branch ang mga sister company ng SnK like IP ZONE, KENTEX, BALENO sabi sa akin ni ate Ciara/Shara the staff around 3rd quarter daw un next year kaya napaka gandang balita nun dibah! inuna lng daw nila ang SnK but eventually magtatayuan nadin ang ibang shops na ito by next year....
sinabi ko sa kanya na magdala sila dito ng mga ineendorse na damit ng F4 na SnK at itry nya daw un. kaya naman daw SHE ang naging endorser nila dito dahil sila ang current endorser ng SnK...so thats explain kung bkit SHE ang nandun... pero mukha daw na mapopost sila ng mga posters and everything ng F4 hindi ko lng sure wen...
well, i hope nasagot ang mga katanungan natin... kung meron man kayong tanong just PM me or post lng kau dito...ok? and by the way binigay ko ung cell # ko kay ate Ciara/Shara para in case na may dumating na SnK shirts na ineendorse ng F4 like 8 series maite2xt nya kagad sa akin....

ZaiZai, Li Bingbing getting the chills

Yesterday, Zhou Yumin (ZaiZai) and Li Bingbing continued with the filming of Du Qifeng¡¯s new film. The production unit specially rented a rain-creating truck to create a ¡°romantic atmosphere in the midst of rain¡± scene. The two held each other in the rain. On the surface they looked tender and inseparable, but in reality they were racked by chills.

ZaiZai together with Li Bingbing turned up in Tai Po Ocean Park to film an embrace scene while soaking wet for Du Qifeng¡¯s new film. Although Li Bingbing was once romantically linked to ZaiZai¡¯s good friend Zhu Xiao Tian, in front of the camera there were absolutely no reservations for both. Under the downpour of the man-made rain of the production unit, the two were wrapped up in a passionate embrace while soaking wet. Aside from their foreheads touching, ZaiZai even tenderly wiped off the droplets of rain from Li Bingbing¡¯s face, and director Du Qifeng was also on hand to guide them.

Fans convey concerns

But after the scene was finished, because they were drenched the two were racked by chills from head to toe. Although the staff immediately brought towels and hot tea for them, ZaiZai was still so cold that his teeth chattered. Under the protection of the staff, he went straight to the restroom and changed out of his wet clothes, during which time some ten or more fans conveyed their concerns, asking him if this is the first time he has filmed a ¡°wet scene¡± in Hong Kong? He laughed and said: ¡°That¡¯s right!¡± (And how do you feel about it?) ¡°Very, very cold!¡±

Always changing dry towels

Even though there were some sun yesterday, the temperature at the filming location wasn¡¯t high, making the already soaked to the skin Li Bingbing even more pitiable. But she insisted on finishing the filming before leaving. To avoid her getting sick from the cold, the staff could only change her wet towels into dry ones again and again. At some time past five Li Bingbing completed the last wet-scene shot, went to her trailer (car) to change clothes and left without accepting an interview.

Zaizai will pitch to start a pro baseball game at Tokyo Dome on Nov. 10
Per Japan f4-tv's mail magazine dated Nov. 1, 2006, Zaizai will pitch during the opening ceremony to start a pro baseball game at Tokyo Dome on Nov. 10

Zaizai will attend the 2006 KONAMI CUP for Asia's professional baseball teams.

He will root for the team representing Taiwan and appear in the following game:

Hello Zaichos! (that’s what Zai fanz are called right?) Thanks for the warm welcome. Really nice to belong and have someone to talk to about Zai.

Actually, I'm a late bloomer (kinda), lol. I've just recently discovered this wonderful guy (Zai) through a friend who literally forced me to watch Meteor Garden. Literally cuz what should've been a sleep over became a TW-drama-marathon. (hair dying, manicure, pedicure, foot spa and other agenda forgotten). She played the first vcd (hers wasn’t even the DVD version) and we were instantly hooked. Well, the rest is history…I’ve been a stalker since then. Yeap, viczhou123 is right, another Zai addict here. I even bought my Mars copy from an illegal seller in eBay (he’s not even a distributor). Well, I was ignorant then about “downloadables”, typical of a late bloomer (lol). I even went to the nearest Chinatown here in Houston, looking for magazines and posters of Zai (imagine that!) I found 2 and bought one from eBay. The rest are print outs. After discovering the Mars thread, I decided to make a scrapbook of Mars *teehee* talk about obsession! Like what I've said, I’m a bit late than most, but better late than never, right? I just thought I’d share…

Would someone be kind enough to let us know what we have to do, and which box we have to press? Is it the one on the right (the bigger one) or the one on the left (the smaller one)?

I tried pressing first the big one on the right, and ZaiZai's numbers didn't change, and then I went back in and hit the one on the left, but I got an "error" message.

Also, do you know how many times we can vote?

*Note 2: Wang Jian Ming a.k.a.Chien-Ming Wang (nicknamed “Ah-Min”) is a very popular baseball player from Taiwan who is currently playing for the New York Yankees.

Taiwan’s “Ah-Min” is coming, and Japanese film buffs and sports fans are all eyes waiting for him to pitch. But this “Ah-Min” is not Wang Jian Min, but “ZaiZai” Zhou Yu Min. Taiwan’s LA New Bears and Japan’s Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters will be pitted against each other the day after tomorrow in the 2006 KONAMI CUP ASIA SERIES, and by invitation of Japanese TV station TBS, ZaiZai will be the special guest at the opening ceremony of the game to be held at the Tokyo Dome, the first among Taiwan’s idol actors.

ZaiZai’s first reaction upon receiving the invitation was to hesitate, worried about failing because his baseball skills might not be up to par. Only after some persuasion did his worrying turn to joy, and he has been in a very excited state for the past few days, diligently practicing his throws at home. As for whether ZaiZai’s girlfriend Da S will be on hand to cheer for him? There has been some rumours that Da S has already made preparations to be at ZaiZai’s side, but producers of “Love around the Corner (?)” states that they still have to film two of the scenes again and wouldn’t be able to let Da S go. And unless Da S leaves forcefully, the possibility of a joint appearance of the two “lovebirds” on the baseball field is not high.

ZaiZai is not the most athletic among F4. When it comes to having the build for it, Wu Jian Hao has the build most suitable for a sports celebrity. ZaiZai is also not a baseball fan usually, not like Yan Cheng Xu and the others who show up frequently at a basketball court or any other sports, but it’s he that the Japanese fans want. Because his dramas “Meteor Garden”, “Silence~Shen Qing Mi Ma” are both being broadcasted on TBS lately, the organizers firmly decided to invite him to be the special guest of the opening pitch of the game without even ask if he can play baseball, which is actually taking a big risk. Yet it is also evident that TBS wants to attract a younger fan base to watch the games, with a fervent ambition to try and make the games "younger”.

The Japanese organizers are currently working overtime to make a baseball uniform of blue jersey and white pants tailor-made for ZaiZai. ZaiZai was very happy when he learned of the news, and said: “I’m going to have my own baseball outfit! That is so great! I’m not dreaming, am I?” Asked if he is a fan of Wang Jian Ming, or if he collects Wang Jian Ming toys or clothing? His manager Wang Yi-Xuan said: “He doesn’t have time to collect Wang Jian Ming items, but if there are any news about Wang Jian Min, he would always ask for details and is very concerned. I guess you could say that he is a typical Wang Jian Ming fan.”

To allow ZaiZai to go to Japan to pitch for the game, the production unit of “Delicious Relationship” has temporarily halted filming his scenes for the meantime. Producer Angie Chai said: “What can we do? We are already behind schedule, but being the special guest at the opening ceremony is a good thing, so let him go and make this achievement. We will be waiting for him to throw a good ball and earn the applause of movie fans and baseball fans all over Japan. ZaiZai, jia you!”

Your other acting counterpart, Andy Hui, is a famous singer and actor in Hong Kong, and doesn¡¯t he look like your (F4) agent xiao Chih! When you were shooting the series with him, have you ever mistaken him for xiao Chih?

Vic: Good question! (Laugh) Actually before this drama series took off, me and other staff had been jokingly saying that xiao Chih and Andy were brothers since they resemble each other so much! So we thought it would be nice if the two of them could meet each other one day. Later, when I decided to star in Silence, I learned that Andy would play my counterpart. On the day of the press conference, I told Andy about xiao Chih. But if I were to compare, I think Andy looks more cool (grin). Plus, xiao Chih is aging¡(Chuckle)

In other words, the two had met each other?

Vic: Yes. When we looked at them side by side, we thought their atmospheres were totally different. (Chuckle)

After playing a dying patient in a drama series, did you think more about your health? Do you usually do anything in daily life to stay healthy?

Vic: Ever since I played this character, I¡¯ve had complicated thoughts on my mind. A person can lose anything and still gain it back, but if that person loses his/her health¡But even as I think that way, it is like normal operating condition for actors, and even staff who work in the entertainment industry to stay up all night. And even when we can rest, often times we are not able to really relax and fall asleep. I haven¡¯t been trying particularly hard to stay healthy; conversely, because I wasn¡¯t able to pull myself completely out of this character, I lost more and more weight.

To prepare for your latest drama series, ¡°Delicious Relations¡±, you¡¯ve taken some culinary training. Do you know cook for yourself at times?

Vic: Yes I do. For instance, I would make omelet rice. Don¡¯t think that omelet rice is a very simple dish. Actually it¡¯s a profound recipe. Before taking on this series, I didn¡¯t know much about cooking, so I didn¡¯t know if I could cook or not. For about a month before shooting began, I went on for basic culinary training, and as I learned more about cooking, I began to have an interest in it. Now, during shooting, if staff members get hungry, I would fry some eggs for them. And I can make them fast!

Did you let anyone try your cooking?

Vic: My family has tried my cooking. One day, I asked my sister-in-law to buy some seasoning for me as I wanted to show off my cooking skills. My sister-in-law looked at me in shock and asked, ¡°can you do it?¡± In the end, I messed up and was torn apart pretty badly¡(laugh). And I haven¡¯t been able to re-build my reputation since then.

What are your thoughts on Patty Hou, your acting counterpart in this series?

Vic: This is her first acting experience; before we began to shoot the series we both attended acting lessons. I think she acted with her true emotions. She is full of emotions, and she would be moved just by reading the script. She engrossed herself deeply into the character, and I hope sometimes that she would pull herself out sooner. (grin) The casting members of this series get along very well, especially those who play the restaurant staff in the series, we all are like family.

Singer Alan Ko also stars in this series; what kind of conversation did you have with him?

Vic: Alan is very professional. He had debuted as a singer, but in fact he graduated from acting college. That¡¯s right. I asked him to write songs for me, and every time I saw him at the shooting site I asked, ¡°Is my song ready?¡± ¨C just kept bugging him. Finally these days he¡¯s done with the song; it has a nice melody.

You shot your private DVD at Yilan. Will you make some recommendations on where to go at Yilan to Japanese fans?

Vic: I would recommend the beach that we went when we shot the DVD footage. It¡¯s called ¡°Ne-bi-hai-wan¡± in Suao, Yilan province. It is very scenic; in the past I would go there with my family and my friends often. But Taiwan coastal force patrols there often (to catch illegal immigrants); so if you want to light fireworks on the beach, watch out and don¡¯t get caught. This is my advice. (grin)

When you think of your home town Yilan, what would you visualize?

Vic: Probably, Luodong Sports Park. For people my age, we all remembered that there used to be only a small park in Luodong, so when ground-breaking took place for the Luodong Sports Park, we were all so looking forward to it. In this park, there are baseball court, playgrounds and other courts; so it is not only special to people in Yilan, but also to students from other provinces who would come visit the park during their graduation tour.

Can you tell us about the movie you¡¯re shooting? What kind of character are you playing this time?

Vic: Shooting has begun, but I can¡¯t quite talk a lot about the story just yet. This movie is a love story and I play a student who died in an accident, so I would appear as a ghost. But, this is not a horror movie. The script writer told us about the story, and he pointed out that there are many suicide cases in Hong Kong recently. He said, people tend to forget about the incident and would not think deeply why people were killing themselves. So he decided to write this story, as he hopes that viewers will think more seriously about this subject.

This is your movie debut, so what do you feel at the moment? Do you feel any pressure, or high expectations?

Vic: We just began to shoot, plus I was only playing a corpse so I didn¡¯t feel much yet. (When this interview took place, Vic has begun shooting for the movie for only one day). Of course I will feel the pressure. Director Johnny Tou is a strict person. But, on that day of shooting, Tony Leung Ka Fei was also close by (on another job), so he stopped by our site. He told me, ¡°The director actually likes to talk to people.¡± I got a lot of advice from Tony, and they really helped.

We heard that you¡¯re planning on releasing a new solo album; can you tell us anything about it?

Vic: Songs were gathered for quite some time. We¡¯re hoping that by the end of the year, we could either release it or at the minimum begin to record the songs. But because of my work, I can¡¯t quite be sure about it. I hope that we take our time in producing good songs and a good album for my fans.

What is your favorite song thus far, from either your solo albums or F4 albums?

Vic: Different songs have got different meanings to us. But if I were to choose, I would choose Meteor Rain. This song is beyond fondness, to us, it represents an epic.

What kind of characters would you like to play as an actor?

Vic: I have been longing to play a mentally ill person. This kind of characters allow many different dimensions in acting styles, and I want to try a way different from others who¡¯ve played these kinds of roles before. I wish that one day I can find a matching script. I feel very lucky that I¡¯ve been able to work with many great actors and great directors in my career.

Private: In his busy life, what is his thinking in terms of his private lifestyle? His answer is indeed very much like himself!

You often fly around Asia. What do you usually do on the plane?

Vic: Sleeping

What will you always bring when you¡¯re traveling overseas?

Vic: My soul (grin). Sometimes I am so tired that I felt like I left my soul somewhere¡ (staff cracked up).

Where would you like to travel to the most?

Vic: I want to go to Alaska to see polar lights. I once saw a program about Aura on the Discovery channel and I thought to myself that I had to go there once in my life time. And I thought that it would be nice if Wei Yi (Vic¡¯s character in Silence) too could go and see the lights.

What is the first thing you do when you get up in the morning?

Vic: Going to the bathroom.

What are you getting into these days?

Vic: Studying the scripts. Sometimes I get so excited I couldn¡¯t sleep at night as I was thinking about acting and shooting.

What interesting movies have you seen recently?

Vic: This movie ¡°Click¡±. I thought the actors, the director, and the shooting crews were all great. It made you re-think the directions of your life. I held back and didn¡¯t cry when I saw the movie. At the beginning I thought it was a relaxing comedy, but the ending was actually very touching and brought tears in my eyes.

Which CDs have you been listening to often these days?

Vic: I don¡¯t often listen to CDs. Maybe Silence soundtrack? (grin)

Do you go to Karaoke often?

Vic: I used to go a lot. But I haven¡¯t gone there for like a year because of my work schedule. Then last month, I finally went with my friends, and I realized that I didn¡¯t know any of the new songs and I forgot about all the old songs. So I just zoned out right there, and I felt like I was living on the moon watching a bunch of people on earth.

Did anything happen recently that moved you?

Vic: When I came to Japan in August, there were a lot of fans at the airport. Among those were about 20 children and they said to me, ¡°We like Zai Zai very much.¡± in Chinese as I walked by. I was quite touched by it. Although it was just one sentence, but they must have practiced hard and they were so sincere and cute. Their cheeks were red, so I couldn¡¯t help but doing hi-fives with them.

If you can rest for a month, what would you like to do?

Vic: Either going out of country or just stay home, I don¡¯t care at all. I would be so happy if I can rest leisurely and quietly.

If you¡¯re about to go to a no-man-land and you¡¯re allowed to bring 3 things with you; what would you bring?

Vic: First I want to bring my family and my friends with me. (Staff said, ¡°then that¡¯s not a no-man-land!¡± Zai Zai responded ¡°but he/she didn¡¯t say I can¡¯t bring persons!¡±) Then I want to bring my home with me. You know like in manga, there¡¯s this capsule that can shrink anything and you can carry it in your pocket? I want to put my home in this capsule. Finally, I need to bring money with me. So I can go fill up on food for about once a month. That way, I can live leisurely on the island. (At this point the staff said, ¡°Then this absolutely is not a no-man-land. This is a Zai-zai-land!¡±)
