The first time when I saw Zaizai up close, compared to his beautiful face features, I was even more fascinated by the childlike expressions on his face - seemingly shy that only his eyes were moving. English-fluent Vanness and Ken were on his two sides, so he just giggled and cast side glances at them. Sometimes urged by Vanness, he would straighten himself and said a few words like a naughty child instructed by a teacher. Zaizai behaved exactly like a cute youngest brother. On the other hand, you could also see manly expressions as he showed in his latest works Mars.

The interview was conducted in March in a hotel in the city where he stayed with other Mars costars. DaS came to the room where the interview was conducted to take pictures. They were close friends, cared about each other, and worked with the press with a good mood.

Q 1.1: Please tell me how you debut chance came by. Was it that you accompanied a friend to the audition?

Zaizai: Yes. I went to the audition with a friend who auditioned for the Qinghe role in the Meteor Garden and was scouted.

Q 1.2: Wasn't you originally not interested in the show biz?

Zaizai: Yes. Since I'm shy, originally I couldn't image myself working in front of crowds of people.

Q 1.3: Then, why did you decide to enter the showbiz?

Zaizai: The day I was scouted, the producer asked me to star in Meteor Garden. But I didn't have confidence in my acting skills. On top of that I didn't feel like doing it at all, so I immediately turned down the offer. I went home and told the whole thing as a joke to my mom. My mom instantly became enthusiastic about it (Laugh). In the end, pressured by my mom, I had to say okay. Once I replied to the producer, arrangements for taking acting lessons were made. I immediately started taking acting lessons.

Q 1.4: So, thanks to your mom for what you have now!

Zaizai: Yes (Laugh). I fulfilled my mom's dream.

hey guys... just saw zaizai in CETV, it was just a commercial, they showed some actors and stuff they also showed DaS, then at the end zaizai spoke in english. he said "i love music" hehehe... for all those who have CETV, i don't know what the show's about, i also don;t know when it will be shown:p i only saw the time 18:45...:D

ZaiZai: There are still plans for a movie, TV series and an album, I should think. I’ve never been familiar with the aspect of music. For the last two albums, I’ve always been at ease with just listening to the suggestions of my teachers and didn’t put in much of my own ideas. But for the third album I hope I can include more of my own feelings. I think this kind of music suits me better. I hope my third album will be about the real me, all of me.

Q 2.1: What were your impressions when you first met other F4 members and DaS?

Zaizai: Vanness and I took the acting lessons together at the beginning, we got along immediately. The other two were already in the showbiz and also have more experiences in acting, I regard them as seniors. Barbie and her sister have formed a group called SOS. Previously I was a fan of her sister (Laugh). Barbie is very small; I was astonished that such a doll-like person existed when I first met Barbie. I'm glad that we have become friends.

Q 2.2: When you said you were a fan of her sister, Barbie got angry, didn't she?

Zaizai: She was instantly offended when I said that (Laugh).

Q 2.3: Among the members, especially Jerry who is four years older and is a senior in the showbiz, did you have to exercise special care and awareness in acting as a childhood friend and a love rival?

Zaizai: Actually I don't feel our age difference is that big. I think, once starting working in the society, for example even with people 10 years older, one should be sociable with them on equal term. So, I didn't sense much of the age difference. But at that time Jerry was already a famous model, I had seen him in magazines and on TVs before I entered the showbiz. So, just like normal people would feel seeing a star, I was nervous the first time I met him. As we worked together and soon became friends, I started feeling relaxed. He is different from what he looks and is as innocent as a youth. Usually he is easy to get along. But once he starts working, he is completely changed and treats everything seriously. This side of him is good for me and I'm learning from him.

First overseas trip was to film on location in Okinawa

Q 3.1 Do F4 members go out together in private?

Zaizai: At first, we didn't know each other, so we didn't much socialize. When we got to film the latter half of Meteor Garden, We all had become friends. When I was off, I would go visit them on the set or we would go out to have some drinks. We really became close friends when we released the CD together. During that time we often went out together.

Q 3.2: Now that the four of you all have become stars of Asia, you can no longer find that kind of time, can you?

Zaizai: Because we work independently now, we end up feel closer. Indeed we all are very busy and don't have much time to spend together. Because of that, we feel all the more happy and cherish the time we spend together. Now eating together is something to cherish.

Q 3.3 You had gone to Okinawa to film Meteor Garden, didn't you? Please tell us some anecdotes about it.

Zaizai: it was the first time I went overseas. Usually people fly for overseas trips, but the script wrote that we went to Okinawa by ship. At first we were all thrilled about it and were very excited, I in particular since it was my first time. I was buoyant and excited with joy. Before we left, the staff warned us and wanted us to take medicines to prevent seasickness. But I had never been on a ship and didn't know what seasickness was. I paid no attention to it. We were having fun and finished the first day of shooting without a hitch. But when the night drew close, none of us could laugh any more. We all got seasickness (Laugh). We all threw up and were in really bad shape (Laugh). (He cast a side glance at Barbie taking pictures nearby.) I think it happened to Barbie too.

Q 3.4: You had gone through such hardship for shooting it, can you tell us a scene you consider cool to watch?

Zaizai: The kissing scene with Shan Cai on the beach when we traveled by ship. I thought I looked cool too. (He smiled shyly.) Meteor Garden was the first TV drama I starred. So did Barbie. It was my first kissing scene in TV dramas. It felt like stealing a first kiss from each other (Laugh). (Actually Barbie's first kissing scene was with Jerry.)

Zaizai: The kissing scene with Shan Cai on the beach when we traveled by ship. I thought I looked cool too. (He smiled shyly.) Meteor Garden was the first TV drama I starred. So did Barbie. It was my first kissing scene in TV dramas. It felt like stealing a first kiss from each other (Laugh).

Cracking unusual weird jokes was how I repaid other F4 members

Q 4.1: Besides focusing on love stories, friendship between guys is also an important part of Meteor Garden. In real life, do you have F4-kind of relatives and friends?

Zaizai: Of course I have many relatives and friends. Taiwan has military services, where people sleep and take shower together, i.e. people live together. But usually it's very rare for friends taking bath together. Recently I went to a hot spring resort with a few good friends. Taiwan's hot spring resorts are different from Japan's and are equipped with private rooms where people usually go in by oneself. But that time we went to a public bathhouse. We all jumped in without clothes. It was a very rare experience for me. I feel our friendship has gone deeper after that (Laugh).

Q 4.2: Doesn't Taiwan have public bathhouse?

Zaizai: Very few. It's customary for people wearing swimming wear in places like SPA. Since I'm not used to it, initially I strongly resisted not wearing anything because I was shy. But I soon started enjoying it. We splashed hot water onto each other like children.

Q 4.3: From your point of view, what kind of relationship does it exist among F4 members?

Zaizai: Without question, we are better than colleagues. For me, it's my first group. I have gone through my first drama and CD with them. I'm very shy. Initially I didn't know what to say during interviews. The other members would come to my rescue. To pay them back, I told some light jokes. They were all just cold jokes (Laugh). After many practices, my jokes became popular. It became part of my reputation. Taiwan reporters thought it was interesting. During interviews, they always asked, "Please tell some cold jokes." (Laugh.) Even though now we are engaging in different activities respectively, for me F4 members are irreplaceable.

The kissing scenes with Barbie are the best highlights of Mars

Q 5.1: Please tell us something about Mars. Mars is about a youth whose heart has been badly hurt. You also acted the role of the younger brother. Facing the challenge of playing two roles, what kind of efforts did you make in order to act them?

Zaizai: This is the first drama I feel proud of as a professional. I thought the roles were difficult to act after reading the script. To prepare for them, I met with the director twice. The director recommended a book to read, saying that after reading the book, I may understand the psychological aspect of Ling. After reading the book, we started shooting on locations. Playing the two roles wasn't that difficult, I just made some slight changes to the acting methods. What I had suffered more was Ling's fighting scenes. To shoot cool-looking fighting scenes, we toiled a lot for the best poses. A fighting master was called in. While we fought each other, poses were selected and shot. Fortunately, we have shot many satisfied poses.

As for now that ZaiZai's relationship with Hsu Wei Lun is very stable, ZaiZai expressed that he does not like to marry in a late age, but since he's only 24 years old, he does not want to marry get have a child so early yet. It's been more than two years now since I first laid my eyes on the Lord of Shuai. I remember watching my first episode of meteor garden. I just thought, "Okay, he's cute." I merely acknowledged him as the shuaiest. I remember my little sis and I used to call him "Incremin"http://tsinoy.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif because of his skinny body. (Get it? "lampayatot")bwahahahahahaha....

Then Meteor Garden Two happened. There I was transfixed on the screen sitting on the edge of my bed as I watched the graduation scene. Hua Ze Lei then steps out of the vehicle in that all white outfit, and I literally fell off my bed! Who would have thought incremin would grow to be a hunk of burnin' love? And yes, I got a little obsessed. Changing my office computer's wallpaper with zz wallies, listening to mandarin songs and swooning over the heart-melting voice. Rushing home from work just to catch him in MG and that includes swooning whenever he comes onscreen and silently cursing Shan Cai for being stupid. And don't get me started on Happy 50 TV. I had to stay up late just to watch its telecast even if I had to wake up early because I had to appear in court. Not to mention I was tuning in to CETV, watching programs I don't even understand. (I swear all I understood was "Zai Zai Zhou Yu Min") I was giggling like a schoolgirl! Swooning like a teenager! And I felt then this was not normal behavior for a professional in her 30s.....

Then Zaichos and Zaiwan happened. Fast track to 2004. I got my new computer at home which meant more time in Vic Zhou thread...I metamorphosized from a lurker to a post whore...I was in the company of forumers who called themselves "Zaichos". In a month..I became one. And I must say...being with these biotches...makes your Zai Zai addiction worse. And it dawned on me what the name meant...a psycho for Zai Zai..Zaicho...not crispilicious nachos lest one get's confused. http://tsinoy.com/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif

Love Storm happened. Got crazy over Lu Ying Feng, his singhots and the way he swirls that lollipop in his mouth. And that kiss he gave Vivian!! Waaaaaaaaaah! I remember my trip to Cagayan De Oro and how I looked back then, dressed in a corporate suit and watching Love Storm in the lobby of a government office. The things this man does to me....

Then..Mars happened. Zai Zai as the sizzling Chen Ling...I was beyond crazy! It seems from that point forward my admiration for the guy has reached new heights. He has become a hunk of burnin' love wahahahahaha. I became even more bangag if ever that was still possible. I was enraptured with Chen Ling's looks, Chen ling's wet locks in that shower scene, with Zai Zai's portrayal of the passionate Chen Ling and not to mention the way Chen Ling romances the uber-lucky Qi Luo...Chen Ling's extremely charming hipline! nyahahahahaha! To the extent I was screaming "Marry me Chen Ling!"

Sighhh, it will be almost a year now since Mars aired. And I'm still here. But producer Chai Zhi Ping and Hong Kong producer Xia Ding Yi are very considerate. Considering her language barrier, they tailor-make a mute-woman role for her. The whole series will be shot in Taiwan and Da Lian and is slated to start shooting in early July.

Owing to the tremendous popularity of "Jewel in the Palace", Po En Hui who acted as Lian Sheng in it has also become hot. Po En Hui has watched "Meteor Garden". When Chai Zhi Ping was in South Korean in April to negotiate with her, she said she hoped to co-star her first overseas TV series with Zaizai. So Chai Zhi Ping has been trying to have them collaborate for the first time. It's not the first time a Korean actress is invited to star in a Taiwan TV series. Fans create a birthday book specially for him


It is ZaZai Zhou Yu Min's 24th birthday today. To give him an unforgettable birthday, fans from Vicpower, which is composed of fans from all over the world, has kicked off the [Project of Compassion] on this wonderful day. Zaizai: Since I joined the showbiz up until now, I have released two CDs in Taiwan and starred in several TV series. I will appear in TV series and movies if there are good scripts. For myself, I like acting more than singing.
