Photo 6(Bottom right):Photo session for the cast of MARS. Lots of media turned up for this event too, confirming once again the lure of Taiwan dramas!

Basking in the spotlight of over 100 members of the press

The afternoon of March 9, Vic Chou boarded the 12:44 plane headed for Japan's Narita airport.
By early afternoon, the arrival lobby at Narita airport was filled with excited female fans, and by the time Vic appeared, close to 1000 people had gathered to welcome him. At 1:42pm, Vic Chou finally appeared, accompanied by his fellow MARS cast mates, Barbie Hsu, Megan Lai and Shawn An. The lobby was instantly filled with the sound of the fans going wild, screaming excitedly. Waving to the crowd, Vic made his way across the lobby and into the restricted area. Barbie was really cute too!


Perhaps it was to avoid chaos in the lobby, but it was all over in about a minute. Not only that, but Vic was wearing sunglasses which prevented the fans from getting a good look at his face. While it was a pretty disappointing welcome party for the fans, when you think about the safety issue, it couldn't be helped.

The second day started with Vic and Barbie attending the MARS press conference, followed by a photo taking session and press conference at the Parco World Exhibition, together with Meteor Garden illustrator Kamio Hatsuko?, and later with fellow cast member from Mars. Day three was the meet the fans session, as well as a whole string of radio appearances and interviews, both with Barbie and also solo appearances. Despite the hard schedule that left him with no time to rest, Vic did not once show any signs of his exhaustion, be it at the press conference or the meet the fans session. Truly the mark of a true professional.

In front of some 100 members of the press, Vic, Barbie and Mars producer Angie Chai took to the stage. Vic greeted the reporters present in japanese, "Hello, everyone. I'm Vic." When told that he was very warmly welcomed in Japan, Vic said rather shyly, "I really hope that our drama will also be popular in Japan." His sincerity, coupled with his shy yet mischievious demeanor conveyed to all his easygoing, likeable character, in just one short press conference. When one reporter asked him what his favourite food was, he replied a little embarrassed, "I love curry rice. I really want to eat a delicious plate of japanese curry rice." His total lack of any big star ego utterly captivated every single female journalist present in the room.

And then day four...Vic returned to Taipei. Those four days had past in the blink of an eye. Amid some feelings of loneliness, it was a wonderful trip. Not only were many people exposed to Barbie Hsu's elegance, they also had a chance to see both Vic's charisma and cuteness. Needless to say, the BS Fan staff were totally smitten as well!

Ling and I are similar in that we both know how to treasure a lady.

Japan is one of my favourite countries because I find that there is a really good balance between the best of both old and the new. Japanese girls are really cute, gentle and polite...they are very attractive. I'm really happy to be in Japan to promote our new drama, and I really hope that the drama will be very well received in Japan as well. That would make me really happy. The character I play, Chen Ling, has quite a dark side to him, and this is one of my more challenging roles because it's a lot more serious. Despite that, I've tried my best to do justice to the role. Similarities between Ling and me...well...Ling is someone who is more prone to using violence, which is not like me at all. I'm a peace loving sort of guy. I think the one similarity we have is that Ling really treasures Qi Luo. I too would really treasure any girl I like.

I took my hat off to those people who were in charge for having found four people of such height.

I thought of drawing attractive boys with distinctive personalities, so I started drawing Hanayori Dango. When I knew that a Taiwan TV series was to base on it, I was very interested in how it would come out being adapted outside the country as there were already Japanese creations. When F4 was decided, the first time I saw them, I was really shocked. I took my hat off to those people who were in charge for having found four people of such height.

The TV series has followed the original manga faithfully. Real-person F4 are trendy and good-looking. People around me all say that their time has come.

In the drama, there are these four boys whom any girl will be fascinated with and they are in front of the heroine Tsukure and how they have affected her. Their respective pure loves are the highlights. I'm certain that Taiwan's F4 will become very active in the future. I'll support them, despite that I have to work diligently on my drawing.

Barbie Su, who played Tsukere rescued by Rui Hanazawa in Meteor Garden, also co-stars in his latest works Mars, which would be broadcast starting from April.

He said of Barbie, "If she weren't like my older sister, I absolutely would be charmed by her."

Barbie said, "Vic is a nice person. He has strength in many areas. He has many of what women consider as deal in men. He is kind and serious with his job. He's considerate toward women. His only problem is that he doesn't seem to like to go out at all. (Laugh!)" Singing his praise.

"I'm glad to here that. There are times that I feel it's tough to be actors because of the irregular working schedule. It's Barbie who has taught me that we would be rewarded, especially fans would enjoy it."

"It was challenging to act two different roles in Mars. I'm the only one among F4 who hasn't been in any movies. I would like to appear in movie with fascinating stories and act parts full of human dramatics, like Ling and Sei."

"Actually I've been in discussion all the time. But I'm a perfectionist. I've been searching for a role suitable to debut. it's available.. the soft subs. meaning, you can d/l the MARS NG, then MARS soft subs, then combine them using BS player, media player classic or yet the permanent, virtual dub :) it's pretty tiring to do but the reward is great!!:D

well, 89% of our source came from vicpower, if they dont have it there, they will provide the links as to where we can download it. Next, faithful4ever, azai-union, zaizaibbs, zaizhouclub some other sites. you just got to have to brave all those sites coz most of em are chinese site, japanese sites, korean n thai.. but even if we can't understand one..ALL FOR THE LOVE OF ZAIZAI ... from the philippines :p
