KBS Drama “Eighteen Vs. Twenty-Nine” to Premiere March 7

The new KBS Monday-Tuesday series “Eighteen Vs. Twenty-Nine” will premiere on March 7, following the popular series, “Sassy Girl Chun-hyang,” which has recorded the highest viewer ratings every week since its debut. Like its successful predecessors, including “Oh! Feel Young” and “Sassy Girl Chun-hyang,” the new KBS Monday-Tuesday drama aims to provide viewers with yet another enjoyable opportunity to have fun.

Based on the Internet novel “The 4321 Days That We Shared,” this drama has a tantalizing and logical plot. Although its story revolves around the much cliched subject of amnesia, the production team intends to turn this usually serious subject into a funny one. The main characters of the drama are top star Kang Sang-young (played by Ryoo Su-young) and his 29-year-old wife Yoo Hye-chan (Park Seon-young), who gets into a car accident on her way to court to file for divorce. After the accident, Hye-chan mentally reverts to an 18-year-old girl, and finds everything around her unfamiliar.

The lead actors of this drama -- Park Sun-young, who captivated the hearts of viewers in “Oh! Feel Young,” and Ryoo Su-young, who is familiar to the audience for sinister roles -- will show off completely different sides of their acting talent. Adding to the drama’s charm will be a cute villain character played by Park Eun-hye, who so far has built the image of an innocent girl.

"The storyline is easy-going, but not too light. We haven’t decided yet if Hye-chan will recover her memory,” said Ham Young-hoon, the producer of the series.

Actor Ryoo Su-young, who plays a caring husband in the KBS Monday-Tuesday miniseries "18 vs. 29," has drawn the attention of many female viewers recently for his charismatic yet cute portrayal. Although the popularity of the drama is ascribed largely to the charming acting of its lead actress Park Seon-young, the female audience credits Ryoo with perfectly portraying a husband doing his utmost to mend his relationship with his wife.

But very few know that Ryoo landed this role after many twists and turns. Although he was the first actor sought for the role when the drama was still in its initial stages of production, he had to square off with such formidable rivals as Kim Min-jong and Shin Hyun-jun. Ryoo was notified that he had been chosen for the role just two days before shooting started.

"In fact, I had almost given up, and was very stressed out. My self-esteem was hurt significantly, but when the production team told me that I was selected for the role, I decided from then on never to give up or let others beat me in casting competitions," said Ryoo. Ryoo was considered a second-rate actor for quite a long time. Many times he was pigeonholed into the role of the guy who fights with another guy over a woman. His new role in "18 vs. 29" presented him with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to try his skills at portraying a sassy and vibrant character.

"I want to become a step closer to the audience through this role. My ardent wish is to hear that I am good not only at sinister roles but at other roles as well," said Ryoo.

The viewer ratings of the KBS miniseries "18, 29" have recorded 18.5 percent, the highest since its debut on March 7 and attesting to the unrivaled popularity of the Monday-Tuesday series. The success of this drama, which is currently in its ninth episode, can be largely ascribed to the impressive acting of its lead actress Park Seon-young, who portrays a 29 year-old housewife who has mentally reverted to an 18 year-old. The drama's lead actor, Ryoo Soo-young, is also highly credited with breaking away from his usually serious image and transforming into a sassy and outgoing character.
In the eighth episode, which aired on March 29, Hye-chan (played by Park Seon-young) learns that Sang-yeong (played by Ryoo Soo-young) has quit his role on a television show because of her, and tries to apologize to him. But contrary to her expectations, the two end up fighting. Just when she feels more frustrated than ever, her "savior" Kim Noon (played by Lee Jung-mun) confesses his feelings for her at a drive-in theater.

yung isang scene last tuesday nung nag-peprepare si psy for an event di ko lang understand kung anu yun, heheh, yung BGM napa-reminisce tuloy ako ng MTF :)

Hye-chan is a 29-year-old housewife. The plagued relationship with her husband, the “handsome king,” spurs her to file for divorce. Park Eun-hye as Sin Ji-yeong
A top-rated actress, Ji-yeong falls for Hye-chan’s husband, Kang Sang-yeong, one-sidedly, while Hye-chan acts like an 18-year-old girl as a result of her amnesia.

Nun is a high-school student who sincerely loves Hye-chan.

Synopsis
(taken from KBS Global Marketing page):

"1829" is based on Ji Su-hyeon's Internet novel "The 4321 Days We Shared." This drama takes the audience back to the 1990s. The main character of the drama, Yoo Hye-chan, 29, reverts mentally to an 18-year-old girl after having a car accident. As she recovers her memory and the relationship with her husband, Kang Sang-yeong, she goes through many hilarious and heart-moving moments.

Hye-chan, who was a beauty queen in high school, marries her former classmate Kang Bong-man. In 2005, she turns 29. But after a fierce fight with her husband, she heads to court to file for divorce, unable to control her rage anymore. On her way to court, her car clashes with a truck, and as a result she develops amnesia. She only remembers herself as a senior high schooler, when she was sassy and outgoing, and popular with her peers. As her memory reverts to her adolescent years, she suddenly becomes crazy about the dance group "Seo Tae Ji and Kids," which was popular with teenagers back in the ‘90s. While looking strong on the surface, deep inside she is soft-hearted and feeble. She likes Jane Campion's movie "Piano" a lot. Although Kang Bong-man, nicknamed "Ice Prince," is the ideal of every girl in Hye-chan's school, she regards him as shallow. The guy she really likes is her senior, Jeong Shi-woo.

But in reality, Hye-chan's husband is Kang Bong-man, whom she despised so much in high school. He changes his name to Kang Sang-yeong when he becomes an actor. In the latter part of the drama, Hye-chan recovers her memory and pursues her dream of becoming a film director. When Hye-chan loses her memory, Sang-yeong becomes preoccupied with mending their shattered relationship. He collects all the messages they had exchanged in the past to help her remember who he is. The replays of Hye-chan's memories, which are presented in diverse ways, add to the drama's tantalizing plot.

Na-soften kasi look niya with the new hairstyle tapos la na glasses (pero cute din naman yung dignified look niya dati) To think I was always wondering what happened to this guy, esp since we get to see Nadine of Bright Girl in FH. Gulo ko ata, natuwa lang ako sobra sa learning ko for the day, hehehe. Kahit kasi sangkatutak na korean series na ang napanuod ko at napalabas dito, special talaga Bright Girl for me. :)

Kainis, sana me eng subs na lang ito. It really looks funny.

And bilog talaga ang mundo. Ang mga kontrabida, nagiging bida din! :D

himbing n himbing sina hazel at carol sa kanilang pagtulog. tumunog ang kanilang alarm clock pero d p rin sila bumngon at gumising sa kanilang higaan. habang tulog sila abala nmn ang knilng ina sa paghahanda ng kanilang breakfast.

nanay: aba tulog p din sila?
pumunta ang kanilang nanay sa kwarto nila para gisingin sila...(meron kinut d2 eh dapat nung ginising sila ng 2 beses ng nanay nila eh humangin ng malakas tpos nahangin yung mga papel etc dahil sa sigaw ng nanay)
nanay: gising n kayo may pasok p kyo.

nang makita ni hazel n late n pla siya dali-dali siyang nagbihis.

nanay: kain ka muna anak.
hazel: huwag n po malalate n po ako

ngyon nag-usap sina carol at bernard kung kanino mapupunta sa pangangalaga kay hazel. ang sabi ni bernard sa kanya dahil siya nmn ang asawa nito.

sa loob ng hospital habang kinakausap ni bernard ang kanyang manager tungkol sa project nito narinig ni hazel ang tungkol sa mga patay, ililigpit ang mga ito etc...ang akala niya eh isang mamamatay tao si bernard tpos nakita niya pang magtattoo n dragon si bernard hayun naghinala siya n mamatay tao nga si bernard. lol! at nag-isip ito ng paraan para makatakas ng hospital dahil inaakala niya n baka siya n ang susunod n papatayin. lol

lumabas si bernard sa room ni hazel habang kausap sa phone ang kanyang manager. si hazel naman abala sa pagplano n makatakas. nakaisip ito ng paraan at ayun nakatakas/nakalabas siya sa room niya at dali-dali itong tumakbo. d npansin ni bernard ito at ng matapos n ang pakikipag-usap niya sa kanyang manager pumasok ito sa room at nagulat ng biglang nawala si hazel at hinanap ito at nung makita hinabol niya ito. mabilis nmn tumatakbo si hazel papalayo kay bernard. at dahil sa kilala si bernard ng mga tao hinabol din siya nito at sa kasamaang palad nakasakay n sa bus si hazel.
