Da S: Vanness in her heart is "a poor son from a well-off family"

Da S and Vaness became friends eversince they filmed Meteor Garden together. In Vanness book, she wrote that in her heart, Vanness is like "a poor son from a well-off family". Da S said that when Vanness just came to Taiwan, he had this prince-like fragrance on him, but only then she found out that he came to Taiwan to straightened financial difficulties (Vanness family were really rich in LA but unfortunately they had to face financial difficulties) but still Vanness would wear really nice clothes, go to the gym everyday, and frequently would apply face-mask. After their work, their common interest is applying "face-mask" together. Da S also buys facial masks for him.

Peter plans to invite Da S on Lunar Valentine's Day

Peter Ho plans to invite good friends Eddie Peng and Dylan Kuo on Lunar Valentines Day, when asked if he will invite Da S to spend valentines together, he said: "if she doesnt have other invitaions, I'll certainly invite her! Everybody is single!".

Peter Ho already admitted his admiration for Da S, and later on revealed to have gone to a movie with Da S, the progress of their friendship is indeed fast. What's amazing is since Peter is often at his home in Taipei, a bat was unexpectedly found in his house, and it is said that "bats" symbolizes good fortune, indeed, because He and Da S went to see The Batman series "The Dark Knight" movie together.

Yesterday, Peter as Love ambassador personally cooked a Valentines Day meal, he said that the best way to show your love is to personally prepare food for your love ones, "My father courted my mother doing this". He said when he's in love he could be very private and will not got on public, but with Da S, he expressed that it's hard to speak for the future.

Peter Ho produces an idol drama, Da S to play the female lead role
Peter Ho bought the story rights of the best selling novel "Pao Mo Zhi Xia", it is the first time he invests in a drama. The drama will start filming in February, and will film in some locations in Taiwan. It is reported that he will invests an approximate amount of 50,000,000 Yuan for this project.

The candidates for the female lead are Da S, Lin Jia Xin, Jang Nara, and Zhang Junning. Over in the world of haute couture, a bevy of celebrities and socialites attended last Friday’s Chanel autumn-winter fashion show at the Taipei World Trade Center Nangang Exhibition Hall. The list included singer Karen Mok, Patty Hou, Tien Hsin and Terri Kwan, who was hard to miss in a gold lame jumpsuit.

Also in attendance was sister act ASOS, or Barbie Hsu and Dee Hsu. Barbie was decked out in NT$6 million worth of Chanel jewelry — and a bandaid around her left big toe. She explained that she’d injured her foot at Vanness Wu’s birthday bash and only just had six stitches removed, but refused to be defeated by her sky-high black platform heels. Barbie may not have been the only one suffering for fashion — Dee looked somewhat pained as her big sister spent the entire night clutching her hand in a death grip for support.

Barbie and Louis who had separate fiming, and only met each other on their last day of filming felt 'stranged' when they saw each other for the 2nd time yesterday during the promo. Hollywood thriller 'Cellular' gets Chinese remake, stars Louis Koo and Taiwan's Barbie Hsu
HONG KONG: Hollywood has been mining Asian movies for ideas for years — but now an American studio is remaking one of its home productions as a Chinese-language movie with local partners.

Warner China Film HG — a joint venture between Warner Bros. and China's state-run China Film Group and Hengdian Group — is releasing "Connected" on Sept. 25, remaking the 2004 New Line Cinema thriller "Cellular," starring Kim Basinger.

New Line Cinema was an independent studio that's now part of Warner Bros. Entertainment.

"Cellular" is about a kidnapped woman who makes a call to a random mobile phone seeking help.

"Connected" changes the setting to Hong Kong and switches the cast to Chinese-speaking actors — Hong Kong's Louis Koo, China's Liu Ye and Taiwan's Barbie Hsu.

While Hollywood has remade Asian movies for years — Martin Scorsese's "The Departed," the horror films "The Ring" and "The Grudge" are based on Asian movies — "Connected" is billed as the first Chinese remake of a Hollywood movie.

Hong Kong director Benny Chan, who directed "New Police Story" and "Rob-B-Hood," says "Connected" improves on "Cellular" by injecting Hong Kong-style action sequences.

"In my movie, I added many elements that Hong Kong action movies do best — human combat, action, flying cars," Chan told The Associated Press in an interview Tuesday.

The director said he doesn't mind making a remake.

"What the world lacks most is good stories. If there's a story that investors think will work in the market and that I like, I don't think there's anything wrong with remaking it," Chan said.

"Cellular" made US$32 million in the U.S. and US$24.4 million abroad on a production budget of US$25 million, according to the box office tracking Web site Box Office Mojo.

"Connected" was budgeted at only US$5.8 million — even a conservative figure among growing Chinese movie budgets. John Woo's recent Chinese-language historical epic cost at least US$70 million.

Hollywood producer Roy Lee, who worked on many of the recent American remakes of Asian movies, says the effort makes financial sense "because it is taking ideas that worked well in one market and adapting them for others."

Da S suffers in the movie, lost 5 pounds while filming

In the movie Connected, Da S suffers from kidnapping. During her 10 day filming in Hong Kong, Da S lost 5 pounds, and when she returned to Taiwan, her sister Xiao S was frightened and asked her "How come you look pale?"

It is known that Da S became a 'movie star' when she acted in the movie "Silk" that made her star brighter. Silk was also recognized by the foreign and local media. Appearing on the same stage after break-up? ZaiZai 'OK', DaS uses work as excuse, Friday September 5, 2008 Taiwan

One fashion show, almost let ZaiZai (Vic Zhou) and DaS be on the same stage again in Hong Kong. When ZaiZai was informed that DaS had also been invited, he had no objections and agreed to commence with the event. However, DaS used work as an excuse and declined the invitation. Louis Koo, Da S and Director Benny Chan went to promote their movie "Connected" in Singapore. Because of the F1 Sports Event that day, their supposed 10-minute drive to the venue became 40 minutes. When they arrived at the promo venue, they played a game with the fans, and on stage, Loius koo took out his camera and took pictures of fans and also Da S.

Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu says there is nothing going on in her love life, but that she is perfectly happy to have it that way.

"My love life is now completely empty," Hsu, 31, said serenely in an interview with my paper yesterday.

In January, she and Taiwanese pop idol Vic Chou broke up after dating for 2½ years. She was also recently linked to American-born Taiwan actor/singer Peter Ho, but both have denied a romance.

'Between work and love, I find work more relaxing, whereas love can be much tougher,' she told The New Paper. 'Work is more exciting and gives me more freedom. I like the way my life is right now... I don't want to fall in love.'

Eight months after confirming that she split with her actor beau Vic Chou, it seems Barbie is happily basking in singlehood. What drives her on is her passion for acting instead, and instead of dates, she is on the hunt for good movie scripts. Her latest work is the highly anticipated action flick Connected, which boasts of being the first Hong Kong remake of a Hollywood film. The original is the 2004 title Cellular, which stars Kim Basinger and Chris Evans.

The Hong Kong version is helmed by acclaimed action director Benny Chan (Invisible Target, New Police Story) and stars Hong Kong's Louis Koo and Nick Cheung, and China's Liu Ye. It opens here on 1 Oct and Barbie, together with Louis and Benny, were in town yesterday to promote the film.

On why he picked Barbie over Hong Kong's own pool of actresses, director Benny said Hong Kong women seemed too 'strong' for the role. Barbie, however, appears fragile in comparison and 'invokes a natural instinct in people to protect her', he added.

In the movie, the dainty actress plays a mother who gets kidnapped but manages to establish contact with a man (Louis) through a spoilt phone and begs him to help save her daughter and younger brother. This is her most physically strenuous and emotionally draining role yet, as her character is a 'total victim' who gets beaten up and tortured by the baddies from beginning to end.

Lost weight

Filming in a small deserted hut - where her captors locked her up - was such a stressful experience that Barbie was constantly nervous and tense and lost her appetite. She lost 3kg as a result, she said.

The easy part for her was to play a doting mum, as she professes to be a child magnet. 'I love kids and I love to help my sisters with their children, so feeding babies and changing diapers is no problem for me,' she said with a laugh. 'I have very strong maternal instincts and kids usually don't shy away from me.'

If she wants to have her own children, she would need to find a man first. But - believe it or not - she claims to have no 'obvious' suitors knocking at her door. 'There are guys who say they like me, but probably more from a fan's mindset,' she said with a self-deprecating laugh.

Well, Taiwanese actor Peter Ho just blabbed to the media that he has been carrying a torch for Barbie since they met on the set of a drama three years ago. Barbie insisted they are just friends, and she does not rule out working together with him.

Another likely future co-star is her ex-beau Vic, with whom she still keeps in touch via phone messages. 'We're still friends and I like to work with him because we have established a certain mutual understanding. And I know he won't say no to the idea.'

Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu says there is nothing going on in her love life, but that she is perfectly happy to have it that way.

"My love life is now completely empty," Hsu, 31, said serenely in an interview with my paper yesterday.

In January, she and Taiwanese pop idol Vic Chou broke up after dating for 2½ years. She was also recently linked to American-born Taiwan actor/singer Peter Ho, but both have denied a romance.

Former 'doll' learns all about fear, Saturday September 27, 2008 China
TAIWAN actress and singer Barbie Hsu is known mostly for her role in TV dramas such as "Meteor Garden" and "Corner With Love."

But she recently challenged herself with a difficult role in the thriller "Connected" by Benny Chan, a Chinese remake of the 2004 Hollywood film "Cellular."

Hsu plays a woman who is kidnapped by brutal gangsters and makes a call to a random mobile phone seeking help.

Hsu said that, in sharp contrast to her usual roles as an elegant doll-like woman, she had to show the deep fear and despair of a hostage locked up in a dark room.

Hsu had a singing career prior to her acting career. She was in a duo group called "S.O.S" with her sister, Dee Hsu.

She was in the headlines when her romance with the Taiwan heartthrob Vic Zhou ended unhappily, even though they were once called Taiwan's golden celebrity couple.

Although Da S and Louis only have a 3 minute scene in the movie, the two have been getting closer since the promo of their movie. Da S comes to Hong Kong once again for their promo, and Louis especially bought food for her, making Da S very happy. Because Da S is vegetarian, Louis chose carefully which food to give her. He said, he still hasn't got to sit with her for a meal, and hasn't seen her eat anything during the promo, so he wanted to buy her something to eat. In the end, Louis bought her sesame rolls, a dozen of egg tarts, Pu Chay Guo (rice cake). He also said that his impression of Da S is that she is a refined woman, and she eats with such manner.

Connected will also be shown in Korea, and a group of South Korean media went to Hong Kong for an interview. A translator was needed to communicate with the director and the casts, but unexpectedly, the translator asked Louis "they said you acted your role poorly, how do you feel?", upon hearing this Louis asked right away, "I acted poorly?", the reporter and the translator were anxious, and after 5 minutes they realized that the translator made a mistake and everything was just a misunderstanding between the reporter and the translator. Connected Tops Hong Kong's Box Office, Wednesday October 1, 2008 Hong Kong
Several major releases helped boost the Hong Kong box office this weekend. Benny Chan’s Connected tops the box office with HK$1.08 million from 42 screens on Sunday for a 4-day weekend total of HK$3.61 million, pretty much guaranteeing that it’ll pass the HK$10 million mark. Japanese comic adaptation 20th Century Boys is at 2nd place with HK$729,000 from 32 screens (including an inflated ticket price to compensate for its long running time) on Sunday and a 4-day weekend total of HK$2.48 million. I think HK$6 million is a pretty reasonable goal for final gross. The Hollywood thriller Eagle Eye is at 3rd place with HK$651,000 from 39 screens for a 4-day weekend total of HK$2.26 million.

Disaster Movie continues its disastrous run, with just HK$144,000 from 21 screens for a 4-day total of HK$530,000. Meanwhile, the excellent Korean thriller The Chaser also flops in its limited release, making only HK$28,000 from 5 screens on Sunday, but no weekend total was available from the Hong Kong Film Blog.

Amazingly, the softcore porn flick Forbidden Legend: Sex and Chopsticks is still doing relatively well, making HK$177,000 from 16 screens for an impressive 10-day total of HK$2.48 million. I believe it still hasn’t had one day where the per-screen average was lower than HK$10,000, which is pretty amazing for a film of this type. Mamma Mia edges closer to HK$10 million, taking in HK$342,000 from 24 screens for an 18-day total of HK$9.28 million. You Don’t Mess With the Zohan somewhat holds up in its second weekend, making HK$313,000 from 30 screens for an 11-day total of HK$4.81 million. For those still following, Thai horror film 4BIA made HK$50,000 from 8 screens, and has now made HK$4.03 million after 18 days. The Muai Thai action flick Chocolate earned a similar gross back in April, except this one didn’t have the crazy stunts to pull audiences in.

Xiao S has arranged a birthday party for Da S, Thursday October 2, 2008 Taiwan
Da S will be celebrating her 32nd birthday on Oct. 6. Sister Xiao S and husband Mike have already arranged a party for her, spending approximately 400,000 Yuan. According to the source, Xiao S has asked Sun Yun Yun to help her organize the party in Breeze center, which is owned by her family. Xiao S has already informed her family and friends and asked them them for their cooperation. Another addition to their circle of friends is Lin Zhi Ling. DaXiao S and Lin Zhi Ling were on the same flight back to Taiwan last June and had a good talk, Zhi Ling has already confirmed her attendance.

Da S went on a Southeast Asian promo tour for her movie Connected. Because Da S has been busy and tired, Xiao S decided to have a grand party with the help of her husband and eldest sister.

Confirmed guests are Patty Hou, Fan Fan, Makiyo, Vicky Chen, and a lot more. Because Da S has recently made friends with Lin Zhi Ling, the latter has also confirmed her attendance yesterday.

Xiao S also asked her husband Mike to invite an orchestra and a dance group to perfom in the dining hall. She will also reserve a theater for the guest to watch her sister's movie "Connected". Da S celebrated her 32nd birthday in Breeze Center, good friends Patty Hou, Lin Zhi Ling, etc, attended her party and after that they went straight to Club Primo . Staffs also welcomed her by scattering petals across a red carpet. Interestingly, Da S who was wearing high-heeled shoes earlier at her party, got out of the car already wearing her boots, it was also in Club Primo that she got her toe injured.

Da S doesn't like celebrating her birthday, and her movie "Connected" is currently showing, Xiao S husband Mike especially arranged a movie showing for the guests, and rented a theater. Xiao S said, since they'll be seeing the movie, the guest will probably get hungry, and can have a drink after, therefore the party comes in trilogy. Everybody will be at the Breeze Center Dining hall for dinner, then at the theater for the film showing, and lastly at Jeff Huang and Vanness Wu's co-owned Club Primo. Da S was moved with Mike's arrangement, and several times has hugged and cried with Xiao S.

Da S and Louis played single parent in the movie "Connected" , because of this, Directior Chan, Louis Koo and Da S used their own money to invite 200 single parents to watch the movie.
In Hongkong, Da S has received high praises in her acting. DaXiao S thought that what they did was really meaningful.

Connected is currently being shown in Taiwan, yesterday, Xiao S came with Da S to support her, Xiao S, who never fails to joke around, said that if the movie breaks 10 million in Taiwan's box office, Da S and ZZ have to reconcile, or Louis and Da S have to kiss in public with tongues involve, to make it worth watching!. Da S invited FanFan for yoga practice, Saturday October 11, 1008 Taiwan
It is already 20 days count down for FanFan's "We are friends" concert. Yesterday Da S invited Fanfan to the gym and practiced yoga to relieve stress, relax muscles. FanFan was amazed at Da S's perfect yoga moves. Da S said that practicing Yoga, one has to integrate the body, the mind and the spirit. For the past three years, not only she gained breathing control, but also improved her scoliosis

Da S started her Yoga lesson three years ago. She practices Yoga whenever she has free time. Sometimes she paused her practice due to her busy working schedule. The teacher thinks that Da S is very talented in this area. She has made progress in flexibility and muscular endurance. Da S told Fan Fan " You listen to your breathing, try not to feel the pain. Even if you are tired, you still need to breathe smoothly. You need to endure the pain."

After Da S finishes her promotion for the movie "Connected", she will go on to promote "My so called Love".

Gui Ya Lei and Barbie Xu's collaboration in "Eat Drink Man Woman", how is it possible?

Salon Movie Company and Hengdian Film & TV will be collaborating to make series of projects, they have agreed to make 9 movies, including "Hua Mu Lan" and Ang Lee's "Eat Drink Man Woman" sequel.

Salon Movie Company and Hengdian Film & TV will also team up with "Crounching Tiger Hidden Dragon" Xu Ligong for the sequel of "Eat Drink Man Woman". This sequel is said to be 2.9 million dollar project. The planned line-up of actors includes Gui Ya Lei and recently renowned movie star Barbie Xu.

Peter Ho's self produced drama "Summer's Bubbles" caught the media's attention on who will be playing the lead characters in the drama. Yesterday, Peter Ho announced that Da S had accepted the role of the female lead "Xiao Mo", Peter will be "Luo Xi", and his good friend Dylan Guo will play the role of "Ou Chen".

Peter Ho said that when he read the novel, the only actress he had in mind is Da S, because she's very much like the female character in the novel. He said "therefore i spent 3 months of negotiating with her, hoping she'll agree to take this role"

Because of their constant communication regarding this drama, Da S and Peter have been rumored to be dating, Peter said "It's really unfair to both of us", "We just talked about the script". For a first time producer, the pressure is big, he said "I've been having bad dreams for months, I'm worried that I'll disappoint everyone,"

Da S who's recently in the movies, this time she will be once again play the lead role in the drama "Summer's Bubbles". Da S said she read the novel and likes it very much, but before she agreed on this project, she had requested scripts for her to review.

The filming will start in February. They will film in some locations in Taiwan, Japan and Europe. The estimated budget for this project is 60 million Yuan.
