If you noticed, marami sa young female talents ng Kapamilya ang talagang nagpaka-daring by wearing bikinis.

Ang young boys naman, well, kung hindi naka-shorts, naka-swimming trunks.

The song for the summer station ID was composed by Marcus Davis. Ang lyrics of the hit song Boom Tiyaga naman was from the ASAP Supahdance album.

It took the ABS-CBN creative team five days to shoot the summer plug.

Last Sunday, they again went to different locations for the shoot of the other Kapamilya participants. It included Aga Muhlach, whose ‘scene’ was shot in Boracay.

Stuart Little mamayang gabi sa Sunday's Best.:D The film opens with Mr. and Mrs. Little and their son George on the day of adoption. Mr. and Mrs. Little go to an orphanage and are asked to pick a child to adopt. When they cannot decide Stuart pops out of nowhere and the Littles immediately fall in love with him. George doesn't take to him at first, asking why his parents have decided to adopt a mouse. The same goes for Snowbell the cat who attempts to eat Stuart upon his arrival. Snowbell then goes to see the character "Smokey" (whose dialogue sounds similar to that of Don Vito Corleone from The Godfather (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Godfather_%28film%29)), the boss cat and the antagonist (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antagonist) of the film who arranges for Stuart to be "scratched out" (killed). In the end Snowbell causes Stuart to run away but feels so bad about it that he joins Smokey's hunt for Stuart in order to rescue him. He reveals the truth to Stuart and in the end Stuart and Snowbell team up against Smokey, his goon cats and Snowbell's friend Monty. Snowbell manages to defeat Monty and the goons but Smokey comes after him and tries to kill him. Stuart defeats Smokey and it is indicated that he is later killed by dogs. Snowbell lets Stuart ride on his back to the Little House where they reunite with the family.

Gerry Peñalosa remains WBO bantam champ

Gerry Peñalosa is still the WBO bantamweight king after the referee stopped the fight against Thai challenger Ratanachai Sor Vorapin Sunday morning at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

Referee Gino Rodriguez prevented the fighters from continuing the bout after seeing that the Thai boxer cannot trade punches anymore with 29 seconds remaining in Round 8.

Peñalosa, 35, scored two knockdowns against Vorapin during the course of the 12-rounder. In Round 5, the 31-year-old Thai was nearly floored but managed to cling on Peñalosa's waist.

Another knockdown occurred in Round 7 as the Filipino boxer continued to threw punches that connected to the Thai's body and face.

Peñalosa said he saw Vorapin as one determined fighter who defended himself throughout the bout.

Asked who he plans to take on next, Peñalosa answered: "No one else but the one who beat Boom Boom Bautista -- (Daniel) Ponce de Leon."

Peñalosa now has a win-loss slate of 52-6 with 35 knockouts while Vorapin dropped to 72-10 with 48 KOs.

'Boom Boom' KOs Camargo, retains WBO crown

Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista showed top form as he retained the WBO intercontinental junior featherweight crown against Genaro Camargo of Mexico Sunday morning.

The 12-rounder, one of three main events of the "Invasion: Philippines vs The World" boxing matches at the Araneta Coliseum, ended 57 seconds in Round 2 after referee Bruce McTavish of New Zealand stopped the fight.

Bautista, a Bohol native, also hit Camargo with a series of right punches that sent the Mexican down twice in Round 1.

Bautista improved his win-loss record to 25-1 with 18 knockouts. Camargo, meanwhile, now has a 16-4 slate, with 10 KOs.

Earlier, another Filipino boxer, AJ "Bazooka" Banal, threw a right-left-right combination to beat Uruguay's Caril Herrera for the IBF super flyweight eliminator.

Banal won by technical knockout after the referee stopped the fight 1:18 in Round 4. This came after Herrera staggered to the ropes following Banal's hard punches.

In Round 3, Banal floored the Uruguayan in the closing seconds.

The Filipino southpaw is still unbeaten with 17 wins and 1 draw, 13 of them coming via knockouts.

Herrera, meanwhile, now has a 21-1 record, with 13 KOs.

Banal's victory came after another Filipino won against a foreigner Sunday.

Ciso "Kid Terrible" Morales retained the WBO Oriental junior featherweight crown against South Korea's Yoo Shin Kim in one of the undercard bouts.

Morales won by TKO after the referee stoped the fight in Round 5.

The Filipino thus improved his win-loss record to an unblemished 11-0.

Yoo, meanwhile, dropped to 6-2.

Malapit nang mag-expire ang kontrata ni Richard Gutierrez sa GMA-7 kaya siguro lumulutang ang balita na lilipat na umano ang Kamandag star sa Kapamilya Network. But for sure, hindi pakakawalan ng Kapuso Network ang isa sa kanilang most valued star at hindi naman siguro mag-aala-Angel Locsin si Richard dahil ang GMA ang nag-build-up sa kanya at malaki ang utang na loob niya sa kanyang home studio na nagbigay sa kanya ng mga major projects.

At gaano kaya katotoo ang balitang nakarating sa amin na patuloy umano ang pamimirata ng ABS-CBN sa mga talents ng GMA? Hindi lamang umano big stars ang pinagkakainteresan ng Star Network kundi maging ang kanilang mga resident writers and directors. Isang top executive tuloy ng Kapuso Network ang nagsalita ng ganito, “Is that how they (ABS-CBN) define professionalism? Ang mag-pirate ng talents ng GMA? Kamakailan ay nagbakasyon ang young actor na si Matt Evans sa Hong Kong. Pero hindi ang girlfriend niyang si Olyn Membian ang kasama niya kundi ang ka-love team niyang si Melissa Ricks.



Binigyan ng kulay ng iba ang pagsasama nina Matt at Melissa sa Hong Kong. Siguro raw ay mag-on na ang dalawa at nakipaghiwalay na si Matt kay Olyn. Kung may relasyon pa raw kasi sina Matt at Olyn, how come na hindi raw sila ang magkasama sa nasabing biyahe?



Sa panayam ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) kay Matt kanina, April 7, after ng live presentation ng ASAP ‘08 ay ipinaliwanag niya kung bakit hindi si Olyn ang kasama niya sa Hong Kong.



"Kasama naman siya dapat doon," paglilinaw ni Matt. "Kaya lang, hindi siya sumama kasi busy'ng-busy siya sa pagiging SK Chairman niya sa kanila, e. Marami silang projects. Yun ang dahilan."



Kumusta na ba sila ni Olyn?



"Ayos lang. Mabuti naman kami. Kung anuman yung dati, ganun pa rin naman kami," sagot ni Matt.



Masasabi ba niyang hinding-hindi niya ipagpapalit si Olyn?



"Hindi naman ako lumiliko. Diresto lang akong lagi," saad ng binata.



Bakit may balitang lagi raw silang nag-aaway ni Olyn dahil kay Melissa?



"Walang isyung ganun, sobrang wala talaga," tanggi niya. "Hindi kami mag-aaway ni Olyn dahil alam naman niyang magkaibigan lang kami ni Mel. At magkaibigan din naman sila ni Mel."



Wala bang ibang babae na nagpaparamdam o nagpapapansin sa kanya?



"Wala naman. Saka kung magkakaroon man, hindi rin ako papayag," mariing sabi ni Matt.

"Hindi ako magde-daring," tanggi niya. "Kaya lang naman ako may eksena doon na naka-topless ako, kasi siyempre nasa beach ako. Alangan namang mag-swimming ako ng naka-sando?"

Sina Maja Salvador at Rayver Cruz ang partner sa isang episode kamakailan ng Your Song ng ABS-CBN. Ayon sa mga nakapanood ng nasabing show, may chemistry sina Rayver at Maja. Bagay na bagay raw ang dalawa at iminungkahi pa nga nila na kay Maja na lang daw sana ipareha si Rayver at huwag na kay Shaina Magdayao.



Sa panayam ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) kay Maja kanina, April 6, sa ASAP ‘08 ay sinabi niya na natutuwa siya sa magandang comment ng mga tao sa tambalan nila ni Rayver.



Sabi ni Maja, "Siyempre po natutuwa ako na parang ang dami nang ipinareha po sa akin, ‘tapos parang sabi nga nila, itong si Rayver ang pinakamalakas na partner ni Maja. So natutuwa po kaming dalawa ni Rayver. Kaya lang siyempre, management pa rin po ang nagde-decide.



"Katulad ngayon, hindi pa rin siya ang 100 percent na ka-love team ko kasi may Jay-R [Siaboc] pa ako na ka-partner sa Kapitan Boom, ‘tapos may Jon Avila pa ako. ‘Tapos si Rayver, may gagawin po kaming ibang project," paliwanag ng young actress.



Bakit paiba-iba ang ipinapareha sa kanya ng ABS-CBN?



"Hindi ko nga rin po matanong sa management kung bakit ganoon," sagot niya.



Pero kung papipiliin siya, sino ang gusto talaga niyang maging ka-loveteam?



"Ako naman po, hindi ako choosy, e," ani Maja. "Kahit naman sino, okay lang sa akin basta madaling mapakisamahan sa trabaho."



Kung nalilito ang fans ni Maja kung sino ba talaga ang permanent na ka-love team niya ay ganun din pala si Maja.



"Yun nga rin po. Sinasabi ko na lang sa kanila [fans], ‘Pasensiya na lang po kayo. Pati ako nalilito.' Pero natutuwa na rin po ako kasi kahit naman kanino ako ipareha ay tinatanggap ng mga tao," saad ni Maja.



Kung sila na ni Rayver ang magiging love team at tuluyan nang bubuwagin ang Shaina-Rayver love team, hindi ba siya nagwo-worry na baka magalit sa kanya si Shaina?



"Siyempre, hindi naman kami batang-isip ni Shaina... Alam naman po namin na trabaho lang naman ito. Saka hindi naman po niya choice, saka hindi ko rin po choice na mamili kung sino ang gusto naming ka-love team. Siyempre, management po. Kaya wala naman kaming karapatan na...alam ninyo po yun, na magtampo o magalit sa isa't isa. Hindi naman po talaga kami ang nagde-decide," paliwanag ng young actress.



Sabi ni Rayver sa isang panayam sa kanya ay mas kumportable siya na katrabaho o kapareha si Maja kesa kay Shaina. Ano ang masasabi rito ni Maja?



"Paano ko ba ie-explain?" tanong niya. "Kami kasi ni Rayver, parang childhood friends na. Kasi sa Spirits [their defunct horror series] pa lang, magkasama na kami. ‘Tapos lagi rin kaming nagkikita sa ASAP, ‘tapos sa mga raket din. Kaya siguro sobrang kumportable na kami sa isa't isa."



Kung sakaling dumating ang time na ma-develop si Rayver kay Maja at ligawan siya ng binata, sinabi ng dalaga na may maaasahan naman daw sa kanya si Rayver.



"Oo naman! Dyusko, may maasahan talaga siya sa akin!" bulalas ni Maja.



Nagpaparamdam na ba sa kanya si Rayver?



"Sasabihin ko pa lang po, magparamdam siya!" tawa ni Maja.



So, type niya si Rayver?

Sa isang episode noon ng drama anthology ng ABS-CBN na Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK) ay gumanap ang singer-actor na si Mark Bautista bilang lover ng veteran actress na si Gloria Diaz.


Tinanong ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) si Mark kanina, April 6, pagkatapos ng live presentation ng ASAP '08, kung sa totoong buhay ba ay posibleng ma-in love siya sa parang nanay niya na.



Sabi ni Mark, "Para sa akin, parang imposible siguro. Pero kung ang age gap lang namin ay mga 10 years, baka puwede."



Wala pa bang matrona na lumapit sa kanya o nagpapansin na type siya nito?



"Nakakatawa, kasi nung mag-show kami sa U.S. last month, yung mga lumalapit sa akin, mga older women. Sabi ko sa sarili ko, ‘Napanood kaya nila yung MMK or yung Sana Maulit Muli na si Gloria Diaz yung ano ko?



"'Tapos sabi ko, may impact din pala yung ganoon. Advantage din sa akin dahil yung market, may older na babae ‘tapos may mga bata rin naman. So nakakatuwa din naman.



"May nagpadala pa nga ng sulat sa akin. Siguro mga 36 na yung girl. Sabi niya sa sulat, wala naman daw imposible, naglabas siya ng emotions sa akin. Ibinigay din niya yung number niya. ‘Tapos may picture din siyang pinadala," kuwento niya.



Kahit may email address si Mark ng babae ay hindi naman daw siya nag-email dito.



"Huwag na lang, kasi kung sasagutin ko pa siya, baka umasa!" tawa ni Mark.



Wala pa bang lumapit sa kanyang may edad nang babae para sabihing gusto siya nito?



"So far, wala pa. Yung sa letter pa lang ang na-experience ko, "sagot ni Mark.



Sa ngayon ay loveless pa rin si Mark Wala pa ba siyang nakikitang gustong ligawan?



"Wala muna," maikli niyang tugon.



Okay lang ba sa kanya na zero ang lovelife niya?



"Siyempre, hinahanap mo rin yun. Pero darating din siguro yung right time at yung right na tao."



Nasubukan na rin ni Mark na gumawa ng pelikula, yung Lastikman under Viva Films, kung saan siya pa ang bida rito. Wala pa bang offer ulit na pelikula sa kanya ang Viva, na mother studio niya?



"May gagawin ako dapat dalawang movies sa Viva," aniya. "Yung isa ang nag-backout. Hindi ko alam kung nag-change ng ano...yung Gabby [Concepcion] na movie. E, nagbago lahat, wala na rin akong idea kung ano ang nangyari. I think si Rufa Mae [Quinto] may gagawing movie sa Viva. Baka makakasama ako doon. So hopefully this year, lalabas."



Okay lang ba sa kanya na gumawa ng pelikula kung saan gay ang role niya at may kissing or love scene siya sa kapwa niya aktor?



"Nag-play na ako ng gay role sa MMK with Janelle [Jamer]. Nung ginawa ko yun, sabi ko ito na ang last na gagawin ko, ayoko nang gumanap sa ulit gay role," saad niya.

Vhong Navarro professes ‘crush’ on Marian Rivera

TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte -- Comedian Vhong Navarro, a Kapamilya (ABS-CBN) star, professed that he has a "crush" on a Kapuso (GMA-7) star, Marian Rivera, before a jam-packed crowd at his concert held here Saturday night.

Navarro mentioned Rivera, whose role as "Marimar" propelled her to television superstardom, when he misheard the name of a 12-year-old girl, whom he asked to join him on stage to do a number.

"Did you say Dyesebel? You know, I have a big crush on Marian. She's so pretty," Navarro, to the delight of the crowd, said. The name of the girl was Elizabeth.

Rivera is set to do the iconic role of Dyesebel, a mermaid, which is slated to air within this month, her second lead role after her successful stint as "Marimar" on GMA 7.

Navarro is one of the fast-rising comics in the country and one of the prized talents of ABS-CBN, where he just finished his own television series "Lastikman."

Navarro also mentioned Richard Gutierrez, the leading actor of the Kapuso network, as a friend. He said that while his show was pitted with Kamandag, Gutierrez's show, he never considered him as a rival. "We are close," he quipped.

GMA and ABS-CBN are the leading television networks in the country and are engaged in bitter ratings rivalry with their respective talents not permitted to appear in shows of their rivals.

Navarro was in the city to do a concert, dubbed as "Lastik Navarro," held at the Tacloban Convention Center.

He was joined by the members of the Street Boys, an all-male dance group that served as a launching pad of his showbiz career.

Ayon kay Judy Ann Santos, emotional ang pelikula niyang Ploning na ipalalabas na sa April 30. Kasama niya rito ang ilan sa pinakamahuhusay na actor at aktres sa bansa—Gina Pareño, Mylene Dizon, Meryll Soriano, Ces Quesada, Eugene Domingo, Tessie Tomas, Tony Mabesa, Crispin Pineda, Ketchup Eusebio, Joel Torre, Ronnie Lazaro, at Beth Tamayo.


"Ang masasabi ko lang, sa dami naming artista dito na sobrang beterano, powerhouse cast siya, pero walang nagsapawan. Yung ginawa lang nila kung ano yung kailangan sa character nila, nagbigayan lahat," kuwento ni Juday sa PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal.)



Ipinagmamalaki rin ng aktres na nakakaiyak ang kanilang pelikula kahit walang sampalan o sigawan.



"Kasi, karamihan ng mga pelikulang ginawa ko, may eksenang nagsisigawan, may eksenang nagsasampalan, confrontation... Dito wala. Wala talaga, so magtataka kayo na paano ninyo sasabihing nakakaiyak kung walang confrontation scenes? Paano ninyo sasabihing nakakaiyak kung walang sampalan? So, parang sa akin, sa point of view ko, maiiyak kayo kasi nga maganda yung story," paliwanag niya.



Emotions from within daw ang pagbabasehan ng dramatic scenes ng movie nila na idinirehe ng first-time movie director na si Dante Nico Garcia, ang best friend ni Juday.



"Oo, yung mata lang yung magsasalita. Kung makikinig silang mabuti, at magbabasa silang mabuti sa mga dialogues namin, mararamdaman nila nang todo-todo yung bawat eksenang makikita nila," lahad niya.



JUDAY & PLONING. Ang kabuuan ng karakter ni Ploning ay niyakap ni Judy Ann nang buong-puso. Si Ploning raw kasi ang klase ng tao na gagawin ang lahat ng gusto nitong gawin, ngunit titiyakin nitong walang ibang taong masasagasaan o masasaktan.



Tulad ni Juday sa tunay na buhay, si Ploning ay gumagawa ng mga bagay na ikaliligaya niya nang walang inaagrabyado o natatapakang ibang tao. Pareho rin silang matibay at matatag, na hindi alintana ang sasabihin o paninira ng ibang tao basta't hindi nasasaktan ang sinuman sa kanyang pamilya o mga malalapit na kaibigan.



Pero kung may pagkakapareho sila, may mga pagkakaiba rin sina Judy Ann at Ploning. Isa na rito ay ang pagiging tahimik at kimi ni Ploning, na kabaligtaran naman ni Judy Ann.



"Maingay ako, e!" natatawang sabi ng aktres. "Si Ploning, yung mga sinasabi ng tao sa kanya, wala siyang pakialam. Kaya parang dun kami nagkakapareho, e. Yung okay lang kung ano'ng sabihin ng mga tao sa akin, basta huwag lang yung pamilya ko na yung naaapektuhan sa mga sinasabi laban sa akin."



At tulad ni Judy Ann, naiintriga rin si Ploning "Nang bonggang-bongga!" tawa ni Juday.



Dahil kasi nagmahal at naghintay si Ploning, na-misinterpret ito ng mga tao at inakusahan na siya ng kung anu-ano. Si Judy Ann daw dati, mas apektado ng mga initriga at kontrobersiya. Pero nabago niya na raw ito.



"Kasi parang matanda na ako para diyan, di ba?" sabi niya. "Kung pagtutuunan ko pa ng pansin yung mga intrigang hindi naman talaga totoo, wala namang mangyayari sa akin."



Kaya nga ngayon, manhid na si Judy Ann sa mga intriga lalo pa nga't hindi na mabilang ang mga krisis at kontrobersiya na dumating sa buhay ng young superstar.



DREAM ROLE. Naitanong ng PEP kay Judy Ann kung may dream role pa ba siya. Halos lahat na yata ng klase ng papel sa pelikula at telebisyon ay nagampanan na niya.



"Alam mo, ‘yan din ang tinatanong ko sa sarili ko, e," sagot ni Juday. "Ano pa ba yung gusto kong gawin? Hindi kasi masyadong creative yung utak ko when it comes to mga roles. Pero may naisip akong isang character na napanood ko, yung Wicker Park [2004 film starring Josh Hartnett], yung character nung isang babaeng kontrabida dun. Na at the end, mare-realize mo na, ‘Ah, may pinanggagalingan yung pagiging kontrabida niya.'



"Yung siya yung kontrabida na kakaawaan mo kung bakit siya naging ganun. Yung mature role, pero very touching yung character niya, yung ang lalim ng pinanggagalingan niya, ‘tapos hindi siya humahagugol. Nagsasalita lang siya, pero ang sakit ng sinasabi niya.



"'Tsaka sa emosyon, nakabase lang sa emosyon lahat, kung paano niya dineliver yung line. Pero ako, yun lang yung... Hindi naman siya dream role talaga, pero isa sa mga gusto kong subukang gampanan. Kung kaya ko bang maging kontrabida, kung kaya ko ba yun or what," pagtatapos ni Judy Ann.

Nakikipag-usap na raw ang TV host-actor na si Ryan Agoncillo sa ABS-CBN management para sa possible hosting jobs na gagawin niya sa taong ito. Under negotiation daw ang bagong kontrata niya sa Kapamilya network.




Bibigyang priority niya ngayon ang hosting, unlike last year na mas pinaboran ni Ryan ang acting matapos niyang tanggapin ang seryeng Ysabella opposite girlfriend Judy Ann Santos.



Ito ang naging pahayag ni Ryan sa PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) nang makusap namin siya kanina, April 6.



Isa sa sinasabing bagong programang inihahanda ng ABS-CBN para kay Ryan ay ang Pinoy Dream Academy na magsisimula sa Mayo. Ayon sa TV host, nakipag-meeting na siya sa ABS-CBN tungkol dito.



"We are ironing out the finer details of the matter," sabi ni Ryan, who added na he's willing to do the show, lalo na't kasama rin sa nasabing programa sina Maestro Ryan Cayabyab at ang award-winning director na si Jose Javier Reyes.



Sinabi ni Ryan na gusto niyang mag-concentrate sa hosting career niya this year, although open pa rin naman siya sa paggawa ng pelikula. Marami raw inaayos na hosting jobs para sa kanya ang ABS-CBN, pero lahat ay under negotiation pa rin.



Ryan used to host Philippine Idol nang magsimula ito two years ago sa ABC-5. Pero this year ay nasa GMA-7 na ang programa under the title Pinoy Idol with Raymond Gutierrez as the new host.



"We all enjoyed ourselves sa Philippine Idol. Hindi ko napanood ang initial telecast ng Pinoy Idol kaya hindi ko alam how different it is from Philippine Idol, pero I wish GMA-7 good luck para sa Pinoy Idol," pahayag ni Ryan.



Wala pa raw plano si Ryan sa kanyang birthday on April 16. Baka raw sa bahay lang siya mag-celebrate with his family. Pero kung bibigyan daw siya ng surprise party ni Juday, that would be very nice.



Pero hindi pa naman daw niya alam kung ano ang plano ni Juday for his birthday.

Anne was in a bikini in most of their scenes on the beach. How about Aga, is he as sexy as Anne in the movie?

"Basta panoorin n’yo ang pelikula," Aga answered with a laugh. "You’ll see a new me in the movie."

He admitted that weeks before they left for Boracay, he was a little overweight. Blame it on his latest trip to the US where he and his wife Charlene Gonzales went to watch the Pacquiao-Marquez bout.

"O, ‘di ba kasama namin ‘yung mga bata (referring to their twins, Atasha and Andres). I stayed with them for a few days before leaving for Manila ahead of them.

"E ‘di pasyal galore kami. Ang siste tuwing nagpapabili sila ng pagkain, kumakain din kami ni Charlene," he related.

To drop off the pounds, Aga had to go double time in his workout. He also went on a diet. He gave up his favorite dishes and abstained from eating rice, which is a staple in his every meal.

Those who have seen the rushes of "When Love Begins" agree that Aga's new look has given him a far better aura than in his past movies. Yes, including in his last, the blockbuster movie with Maricel Soriano and Angelica Panganiban titled "A Love Story."

Produced by Star Cinema and Viva Films and directed by Joey Javier Reyes, "When Love Begins" is scheduled for release on April 30.

Anne Curtis said "When Love Begins" is a wish fulfilled. Ever since she entered showbiz, she had hoped that she would get the chance to play Aga Muhlach’s leading lady.

"I never hid this fact from Boss Vic (del Rosario, owner of Viva Films, which co-produces the movie with Star Cinema)," said Anne. "Kaya when he announced that I was going to do a movie with Aga, I literally jumped for joy.

"Frankly huwag namang ikalalaki ng ulo ni Aga, I now feel ‘legitimized’ as an actress dahil nakapareha ko na siya.

"Talagang magaling siyang artista," she further said.

Playing Anne’s dad in "When Love Begins" is another excellent performer, Christopher de Leon.

GMA expects Gabby to honor his commitment

MANILA, Philippines - GMA Films won’t accept the downpayment Gabby Concepcion intends to return after his thwarted movie with Jolina Magdangal. Over and above the money, it’s “palabra de honor” that matters to GMA.

As GMA Films president Annette Gozon puts it, “It’s not about Gabby. It’s not about money. It’s about principle—stars should learn to honor their commitments. Gabby has a live contract with us. He has been consulted at every step of the production. We will enforce his contract with us.”

So even if Gabo is officially with ABS-CBN, he’s obliged to do the film with the Kapuso network. Heard Marian Rivera is being eyed as his leading lady. Since Marian is under contract with Regal Films, will it be a joint venture of Mother Lily, Star Cinema and GMA? Add to that the production outfit of Gabo’s manager Rose Flaminiano. What a circus! Poo, a clue to digestive health

TORONTO-- When it comes to ways to keep track of our health, a daily peek in the toilet bowl is probably not what first comes to mind. But one gastroenterologist says that your bowel movements can be an important clue to the state of your digestive health.

Dr. Anish Sheth -- otherwise known as Dr. Stool -- and Josh Richman outline all the things you can learn from examining your feces in "What's Your Poo Telling You?", a book that uses jokes and trivia as a way to get people comfortable with talking about gastrointestinal health.

"Of course there's a humorous side to the subject of poo," said Sheth, a gastroenterology fellow at Yale University. "But what isn't as well known is that you can learn about your health by looking in the bowl."

The book comes with a serious message about the importance of preventing colon cancer, the second deadliest cancer in the United States, Sheth said. People may have some embarrassment when they first pick up the book, he said, but making health the focus of taboo topics makes it easier to discuss them. "I think that's a safe place."

The increasing availability of information online is breaking down taboos about previously undiscussed personal health topics, Sheth said. "Patients are coming to the table with a lot more information about particular conditions or concerns they may have."

Discussions of bowel health in popular culture also help open up discourse, he said. Oprah Winfrey recently devoted an episode of her talk show to discussing gastrointestinal health with Dr. Mehmet Oz. "The Fiber 35 Diet" -- a book advocating a high-fiber diet, along with cleansing and detox, for weight loss -- hit the New York Times bestsellers list, and a new book called "The 'Regular' Gourmet Everyday: Sumptuous Recipes for the Gastro-intestinally Challenged", by author Danielle Svetcov, will soon be released. And last year, the hospital sitcom Scrubs devoted a song to bowel movements -- "Everything Comes Down to Poo" -- in a musical episode.

What poos reveal

So what can your bowel movements reveal?

A Floater is usually the result of too many burritos, but if it comes accompanied by a particularly bad smell and the presence of grease -- an indication of fat in the stool -- that can be a sign of underlying GI problems, usually related to the liver or pancreas and the body's ability to digest fat.

Thin stools -- The Snake -- are probably just a sign that you're straining too hard and causing your sphincter to contract, but when seen progressively over a longer period of time they might indicate a colonic blockage due to rectal cancer.

Variations in stool color are expected, but persistent changes can be an indication of a health problem: green stools can indicate a gastrointestinal infection, while white or grey stools may be the result of a bile duct blockage or liver disease.

Most serious of all is what Sheth and Richman term Rambo Poo. The appearance of blood in the stool is often an indication of gastrointestinal bleeding, Sheth said. Blood can be the result of something relatively minor, like hemorrhoids or diverticulosis. But it could also be the result of colon cancer, and the book advises anyone who sees blood in their stool to visit a doctor.

Sheth pointed out that many people may not realize that black stool can indicate blood as well. GI bleeding can develop gradually over time, he said, so paying attention to bowel movements can help to catch it -- and its cause -- early on. (To that end, he and Richman are releasing a second book, "Poo Log: A Record Keeper", this spring.)

No perfect poo

But the book is not meant to be alarmist. There is no perfect bowel movement, Sheth said, and regularity can be defined as emptying your bowels anywhere from three times a day to three times a week. The average weight of a day's worth of stool is 450 grams, which is about a pound, but day-to-day variations are normal based on factors like diet and stress levels.

Serious issues aside, good bowel movements can affect how you feel each day, Sheth said. Compare what the book describes as Poo-phoria -- where the passing of a large stool causes the rectum to distend and the vagus nerve to fire, increasing blood flow to the brain -- to the unpleasant experience of a Log Jam.

"Frankly," Sheth said, "it is no fun to be constipated."

Need lots of fiber

The best way to prevent constipation -- as well as more serious GI problems like colon cancer -- is to include a lot of fiber in your diet, Sheth advised. "In some ways the book looks at fiber as a panacea for GI disease, and in some ways it's not too far from the truth."

The recommended daily fiber intake is 25 to 35 grams a day, he said, but the average American eats less than 10 grams. Populations with a high-fiber diet have been shown to have lower incidences of colon cancer and hemorrhoids, he said.

"The benefits of taking in enough fiber range from just feeling great to having healthy bowel habits to preventing more serious complications down to line."

Fruits and vegetables are a good source of fiber, but even if we ate the recommended daily intake we'd still only have consumed half the amount of fiber we should, Sheth said. "The main thing we need to do is increase our consumption of whole grains," he said.

As with other aspects of nutrition, it's important to find ways to eat better that you can stick with because they're easy to incorporate into your daily diet -- Sheth suggests eating bran or oatmeal in the morning.

While some foods -- including dairy, red meat and processed foods -- are more constipating than others, they can usually be part of a healthy diet with no bowel issues as long as you're meeting your fiber requirements, Sheth said. "The issue is usually a deficiency in high-fiber foods, not an excess of low-fiber foods."

Colon cancer prevention

Meeting the fiber requirements can help to prevent colon cancer, a cancer that is often deadly but highly preventable, and which can often be cured when caught early, Sheth said. According to the American Cancer Society, about 90 percent of people with colon cancer caught before it has spread to the lymph nodes or surrounding organs hit the five-year survival mark, but only about 10 percent of those whose cancer has spread live to that milestone.

The society recommends that people over 50 should be regularly screened for colon polyps and cancer, and those with increased risk should begin screening earlier. But data released this month by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showed that while the number of people up-to-date with colon cancer screening has increased , it was still at only about 60 percent in 2006, lower than rates for other screening tests like mammograms.

"What's Your Poo Telling You?" is just another tool for people to use along with regular screening and information from their doctors, Sheth said. That resource is extended to the book's Web site, where readers can ask questions -- recent examples include "What volume of feces would you say an average American male (170 pound) would generate over his lifetime?" and "Is it possible for hemorrhoids to impede or affect poo evacuation?" -- which Sheth will answer either via email or on the site itself.

Multimedia star Sam Concepcion recently bagged the 2008 MYX Music Awards’ Favorite New Artist title. The 15-year old singer is the youngest recipient of the award, to-date, and a runaway winner garnering a majority of MYX viewers’ votes in the said category.

ABS-CBN management denied reports that there was a "too-good-to-refuse" offer to GMA-7 contract star Richard Gutierrez.

"There is no such "too-good-to-refuse" offer to actor Richard Gutierrez. We don't offer talents from outside to join the network," said Bong Osorio, head of ABS-CBN’s Corporate Communications, told abs-cbnNEWS.com in an e-mail.

The statement was rooted on an online report published April 2 that said talk of Richard transferring to the Kapamilya network is getting louder.

Osorio added that they don't do such things since artists from other networks are the ones who usually come to the station to discuss possibilities of being a Kapamilya talent.

"They are the ones who usually come to us to discuss possibilities," Osorio added.

Last week, Richard also denied the report through his family's official publicist, Jun Lalin. He said there was really no offer from ABS-CBN.

In the online report, Lalin said it all started from a blind item story. The spokesman said they were surprised when it was already published that there was a story of a "too-good-to-refuse" offer.

Lalin assured that there was really no offer made by the Kapamilya network and pressed that he doesn't have the idea if there was a discussion happened between Richard and his mother network's rival station.

Kanino ko ba narinig na dapat panoorin si Jolina Magdangal bilang judge sa Pinoy Idol dahil ibang-iba siya? Marami raw viewers siyang gugulatin. Kaya nga tutok ako sa first telecast ng programa na ang ipinakita ay ang mga auditions lamang. Pero parang na-disappoint ako dahil ’di ko napanood iyong sinasabing ibang Jolina. Parang wala siyang sinabi kundi “It’s a no” or “It’s a yes.” Ah, baka naman sa susunod na linggo pa ang mas mabigat na Jolina.

Got a press release from Pantene and learned something new. Not that it matters to the few strands left on my head but what should stop me from sharing this with those who have thin, thick, short, long, kinky, curly, dry hair. "Water used to be hair's biggest enemy. Water actually weakens hair because it makes the central part of the hair shaft swell so that outer cuticle scales tend to lift. That means your hair temporarily loses its smoothness, making it prone to tangles and vulnerable to breaking when you comb through."

What Pantene is saying is, it now has the right shampoo that would stop, diminish, control hair fall because of water. It's called the New Pantene Hairfall Control Shampoo.

Many summers ago, when I had hair as thick as a shrub, a friend gave me a bottle of imported shampoo. That time, anything imported was alien to my scalp that was more used to the gugo with home made coconut oil my grandmother proudly used all her life. I probably used up the imported bottle of shampoo in two days. I lost a lot of hair. For many years, I blamed that imported bottle of shampoo for the disappearance of my locks until a hair expert/doctor educated me that hair loss is genetic.

Anyway, bless all of you with hair and may you take care of it properly. Christian and Sarah on Balitang America

Christian Bautista and Sarah Geronimo were recently featured in Gel Santos’ television program Balitang America on TFC. The singers talked about their concerts in the US dubbed Night of the Champions in Houston, Texas, on March 29 and Anaheim, California, on March 30.

Christian and Sarah, together with fellow singing champions Rachelle Ann Go and Mark Bautista, just finished their three-week concert tour in Canada.

Christian shared with Balitang America viewers that he will star in the Manila production of Broadway musical West Side Story.

Sarah said she is getting ready for more work as film project that Viva and Star Cinema will co-produce this year could start rolling any time soon.

Mukhang hindi successful ang demolition campaign kay Gabby Concepcion through text brigade kasi winelcome nang buong-buo ng press si Gabby sa prescon niya last Friday sa ABS-CBN.

Sa katunayang nagmistulang fans ang mga reporters at mga taga-Dos at panay ang pakuha ng picture ng lahat sa original ‘80s matinee idol ng bansa. Aba, 13 years bang nawala si Gabs sa Pilipinas kaya na-miss talaga siya ng press. The feeling naman was mutual kasi panay rin ang kamusta ni Gabo sa mga dati na niyang kakilalang reporters. At panay pa rin ang hingi niya ng tawad sa mga press na maaari niyang nasaktan dati.

Pero sa overwhelming response na ibinigay sa kanya ng press mukhang everything is all forgiven and forgotten sakali mang nagkaroon man ng kahit na anong hidwaan.

Everybody is wishing Gabby good luck sa pagbabalik niya ng showbiz at sa pagiging isa nang Kapamilya.

Personally ay kilala na namin si Gabby way back 1982 nang kasisimula palang naming maging isang reporter. Naging publicist pa kami ni Gabs noong ginawa niya ang Miracle Of Love with Roxanne Abad Santos na may leukemia at namatay bago pa pinalabas ang pelikula. Saksi rin kami noon sa loveteam nina Gabo at Janice de Belen sa I’ll Wait For You Even If It Takes Forever kung saan kinuha rin kami ni daddy Rolly Concepcion as house PRO for the movie.

Niyakap niya kami nang mahigpit nang magkita kami ulit after 13 years sa presdcon niya sa ABS last Friday.

Para sa amin ay ni hindi nagbago si Gabo ni kati-ting. Kaya tumigil na ang naninira sa kanya. Ito ang mga taong hindi talaga nakakakilala sa kanya!

Ayaw nang banggitin pa ni Gabby ang pangalan ng tao pero nasaktan siya nang may nagsabi sa kanya na huwag daw siyang mag-expect na isang comeback movie para sa kanya ang gagawin niyang movie under GMA Films, kasi it’s a Gabby-Jolina movie raw ‘yun.

Excited daw sana si-yang gawin ang movie at makatrabaho si Jolina pero ang ipamukha sa kanya na hindi niya comeback movie ang gagawin niya ay isang malaking sampal sa kanya.

Kaya totoo ‘yung mga napabalita na nag-request siya ng revisions sa script at palakihin ang role niya. Pero too late na ang lahat dahil may sked na silang mag-shoot sa Europe. Kaya umatras na lang siya sa Love Cruise.

Plano naman daw ni-yang tuparin ang commitment niya sa GMA. Inaa-yos lang daw ang lahat ng mga gusot sa kontrata.

Pero may nasagap kaming tsika na wala nang gana pang gawin ni Gabby ang movie niya sa GMA Films kasi hindi niya nagustuhan ang tratong i-binigay sa kanya ng parti-cular person na ‘yun.

Totoo pala ang balitang balak na lang isoli ang isang milyung pisong downpayment na ibinigay ng GMA Films kay Gabo and with interest pa. Payag naman kaya ang GMA rito?

Abangan ang mga latest development pa.

Willing naman daw maghintay ang Star Cinema kay Gabby hangga’t hindi pa naaayos nang husto ang gusot nito with GMA Films. Here’s hoping everything will turned out fine para masaya ang lahat ng kampo!

GABBY WON’T REVEAL HIS BIRTHDAY GIFT TO KC

FORMER matinee idol Gabby Concepcion left the country supposedly for good due to a controversy which “killed” his movie career. After l3 long years, he returns to the Philippines begging forgiveness to all the people he has inflicted pain with.

He returned primarily to be at the side of his ailing father, Mr. Rolly Concepcion. Whatever television offer that comes next is only secondary, he said.

Gabby will definitely be seen in Maalaala Mo Kaya since the former Regal baby has chosen to sign up with the Kapamilya network. “Kung ano ang ibato nila sa akin (project) ay okay lang, I really don’t know kung hanggang kailan ako dito. Depende na ‘yan sa mga projects. A teleserye is being cooked up but everything is under wraps yet.”

Gabby came in time for KC’s birthday and for sure has a gift for her daughter. The actor however won’t reveal what his gift is. “Sa amin na lang ‘yon,” he quipped.

The still handsome Gabby looks forward doing a movie and points out that he will honor his commitment for a movie project with GMA7.

The last movie Gabby did was Ika-11 Utos which he said he’d rather forget.

Para sa amin ay ni hindi nagbago si Gabo ni kati-ting. Kaya tumigil na ang naninira sa kanya. Ito ang mga taong hindi talaga nakakakilala sa kanya!

Ayaw nang banggitin pa ni Gabby ang pangalan ng tao pero nasaktan siya nang may nagsabi sa kanya na huwag daw siyang mag-expect na isang comeback movie para sa kanya ang gagawin niyang movie under GMA Films, kasi it’s a Gabby-Jolina movie raw ‘yun.

Excited daw sana si-yang gawin ang movie at makatrabaho si Jolina pero ang ipamukha sa kanya na hindi niya comeback movie ang gagawin niya ay isang malaking sampal sa kanya.

Kaya totoo ‘yung mga napabalita na nag-request siya ng revisions sa script at palakihin ang role niya. Pero too late na ang lahat dahil may sked na silang mag-shoot sa Europe. Kaya umatras na lang siya sa Love Cruise.

Plano naman daw ni-yang tuparin ang commitment niya sa GMA. Inaa-yos lang daw ang lahat ng mga gusot sa kontrata.

Pero may nasagap kaming tsika na wala nang gana pang gawin ni Gabby ang movie niya sa GMA Films kasi hindi niya nagustuhan ang tratong i-binigay sa kanya ng parti-cular person na ‘yun.

Totoo pala ang balitang balak na lang isoli ang isang milyung pisong downpayment na ibinigay ng GMA Films kay Gabo and with interest pa. Payag naman kaya ang GMA rito?

Abangan ang mga latest development pa.

Willing naman daw maghintay ang Star Cinema kay Gabby hangga’t hindi pa naaayos nang husto ang gusot nito with GMA Films. Here’s hoping everything will turned out fine para masaya ang lahat ng kampo!

Still in celebration of ABS-CBN’s 55th year anniversary, the Kapamilya network is set to stun Filipino viewers yet again with an upcoming ‘Asian teleserye’ starring Jericho Rosales and Malaysian model-actress Carmen Soo by the latter part of this year. And luckily, ABS-CBN Interactive caught the two fresh from their first meeting slash contract signing last March 26.



One thing you’d instantly notice about Carmen is her resemblance to some Filipino actresses, which is good since local viewers won’t have a hard time relating with her once the project is launched on Philippine TV. Her angelic face may be familiar to some however for she has actually appeared in a famous shampoo commercial and two other endorsements here in the country.Now on her second trip to the Philippines, Carmen’s first impression is still the same, “One of the obvious things that I see is that http://beta.abs-cbn.com/Portals/1/TV%20Programs/carmen040808-2.jpgthere are a lot of handsome (Filipino) men everywhere,” she gushed. She appeared to be well-adjusted to the ways of show biz as she unflinchingly included Jericho in her spot on ‘observation’.



Was she able to watch Pangako Sa’yo, the hit Pinoyserye that made a big star out of Echo back in Malaysia?“No I haven’t. But I've definitely heard of it and the (fact) that he starred in a Malay movie in Malaysia. I've heard of his name before and I just want to know more so I ‘googled’ him and found out a lot.” Carmen further surprised the press with the depth of her research about his leading man, “I found out that he also sings and that he organized a concert; he write songs; his profile is impressive; and that he has a girlfriend, Heart". This caused some of the entertainment writers present to tease Echo about his relationship with actress Heart Evangelista but the actor remained unfazed . “Hindi na manganganib. Secured na yun,” he laughingly told everyone.

It would be different from the local productions in Malayasia and in the Philippines. There are more beautiful things to see, different locations (and) of course a different input from the Asian cast. Besides I hope that we’ll have a good time working together and also get to know about each other's countries. I promised him spicy food in Malaysia," Carmen shared.



Jericho on the other hand is very grateful to be a part of such a promising venture. "There is a God talaga. I'm not doing anything, (then) it came. I feel good because masusundan na yung Sana’y Wala Ng Wakas tsaka Pangako Sa’yo. For me it’s a very good opportunity to revive my career outside Manila, outside the Philippines. Right now I am very excited. I wanna make this good. I’m gonna work hard for this project. It’s quite interesting. Two countries, two different characters, two nationalities. We’re gonna tackle a lot.”

Under the direction of Gilbert Perez, the show’s cast and crew will start filming in Malaysia this summer and will return to the Philippines for another two months of taping.

Pero dahil sobrang ma-dugo ang taping ng Lobo, kailangan niyang bumalik agad sa set para makunan ang magkahiwalay na eksena nila ni Angel Locsin.

Gustuhin man ni Piolo na i-extend pa ang stay niya sa U.S. ay hindi na siya pinayagan.

Baka nga naman mag-kaproblema sa Lobo kapag nawala pa siya ng ilang araw.

Anyway, proud na proud si Piolo sa Lobo. Gandang-ganda rin siya sa pagkakagawa nito.

Madam Auring predicts career, love life of Gabby

Showbiz fortune teller Madam Auring predicts a good life and career for comebacking actor Gabby Concepcion.

"Sa career ni Gabby maganda ang vibes ko sa kanya... nakikita ko na talagang tatanggapin siya ng tao at magiging hit, box office kumbaga malaki ang kikitain sa paglabas na ito ni Gabby Concepcion. Number one magki-click talaga ang pelikulang gagawin niya sa channel 2 at nakikita ko din na talagang pampamilya sila," Madam Auring told abs-cbnNEWS.com inside the network's compound.



Madam Auring also said that Concepcion will find time to clear his name.

Last week, Concepcion posted bail at the Metropolitan Manila Regional Trial Court for nine counts of falsification of documents including bigamy filed by his estranged wife Jenny Syquia.

Aside from making predictions, the fortune teller also advised the actor to solve the problems regarding his contract with GMA Films and ABS-CBN.

"Ang unang gagawin niya siguro hindi ba naka-kontrata siya sa kabila isang problemang malaki 'yon kaya naano ko na maaring makagawa s'ya dahil hindi magpapabaya ang GMA na lumabas siya dito.

"Bagamat naka-kontrata na si Gabby dito (ABS-CBN), kumbaga malinis ang konsensiya ni Gabby so mangyayari niyan parang magkakaroon ng pag-uusap siguro whether kung ano ang mauuna, " Madam Auring said.

Sharon-Gabby movie

Fans are waiting for Megastar Sharon Cuneta to do a reunion movie with Concepcion, her ex-husband. Madam Auring predicted that the Sharon-Gabby movie would push through.

"Sa tingin ko matutuloy 'yan kung walang selosan kumbaga be a sport lang. Kasi parang feel ko na until this time marami pang nakakaramdam, basta ito feeling ko lang Sharon is still in love with Gabby. Ewan ko kung sino ang magseselos pero artista naman tayo kaya kailangan maintindihan 'yon.

"Pero ang vibes ko ay matutuloy at click na click talaga 'yung pagsasama nila sana ay maisama nila si KC para pang-family ang dating ng movie na matutuloy nilang gawin na first movie dito sa ABS-CBN," Madam Auring said.

In an interview on entertainment show "The Buzz" last Sunday, Cuneta told host Boy Abunda that she will be more careful about the prospect of working again with Concepcion.



Cuneta told Abunda that some people had teased her at a press conference by asking how much money she would ask to make a movie with Concepcion. The amounts of fifty and one hundred million pesos were mentioned but Cuneta said that no amount is worth it if it risks the peace and happiness of her family.

She then told Abunda that any plans to do a movie starring her and Concepcion would have to be approved first by her husband and children.

Sharon's love life

Madam Auring also had a prediction regarding the feelings of Cuneta's husband Senator Francis Pangilinan toward Concepcion.

"Mayroon akong nakikita sa husband ni Sharon kay Sen. Pangilinan parang nagkakaroon siya ng parang jealousy pero deep inside dahil sa alam niya naman naiintindihan niya na it's only showbiz, para kay Sharon 'yung gusto niyang makatambal ulit si Gabby at ganoon din si Gabby gustong makatambal parang ano lang 'yan walang personalan kung may magse-selos man sa panig talaga ng ating mahal na si Kiko."

Last Friday, Cuneta and Pangilinan showed the public that their relationship remains solid.

The Senator and the Megastar held hands and looked every inch the sweet couple as they said their good-byes at the airport. Cuneta is off to Europe to finish filming her latest movie, "Caregiver" produced by Star Cinema. She will shoot on location for three weeks.

During her interview on "The Buzz", Cuneta also said her husband has no insecurities at all when it comes to their marriage.

Gabby's marriage

Madam Auring said she feels that Concepcion has a problem with his current wife Genevieve "Ginbee" Yatco.

"Sa lovelife ni Gabby parang naba-vibrate ko nase-sense ko o nai-ESP mayroon siyang trouble ngayon sa lovelife niya ngayon sa present yung huling babae sa buhay niya. Parang hindi sila compatible parang nagkabiglaan lang at mayroon silang konting hindi pagkakasundo, kaya sa panahong ito ay trouble sila.

"Nakikita ko din na ang pagpunta dito ni Gabby ay hindi lang paggawa ng pelikula kung hindi parang may iniiwasan din siyang relasyon."

Last Friday, Concepcion belied rumors that his relationship with his wife is on the rocks.

"Not at all (Hindi totoo iyon na mayroon kaming problema), she’s an amazing woman," Concepcion had told abs-cbnNEWS.com.



Concepcion said that he has a strong marriage and shared that his wife is actually coming to the country with their child to be with him. Concepcion married Yatco four years ago in Stockton, California and they have a two-month old baby, Samantha.

Last year, Madam Auring predicted that young actress Jennylyn Mercado would get pregnant. Mercado is now expecting her first child.



Madam Auring is now busy promoting her first single entitled "May Asim Pa," composed by Paul Sambrano.

AIMING FOR HEALTHY revenue growth, Lopez-led ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp. increased its published advertising rates by some 15% earlier this year, a company official yesterday said.

In a telephone interview, ABS-CBN Vice-President for Research and Business Analysis Vivian C. Tin said the firm was in talks with various advertising agencies for final negotiated rates.

"We increased our [published] advertising rates by 15% already, but we are still negotiating with agencies," Ms. Tin told BusinessWorld, adding that negotiated fees were cheaper.

"Between that (increased rates) and the increasing advertising minutes we should have a healthy growth in terms of revenues in 2008," she said.

Ms. Tin said the primetime rate was now P356,000 per 30 seconds, from 2007’s P301,000.

ABS-CBN netted P1.27 billion last year.

ABS-CBN increased its advertising volume last year by 9%, which official said was a factor in 28% improvement in airtime revenues to P13.6 billion.

For 2007, ABS-CBN increased its net income by 71% to P1.27 billion, while its consolidated revenues rose by 17% to P19.9 billion.

Expenses went up by 13% to P17.6 billion as it produced more in-house programs during the period, but this year it was looking to minimize production costs to ensure profitability.

"If the prices of commodities increase, affecting consumption, and there is a general slowdown in the economy, we have plans to control production costs, flat production cost or even lower," Ms. Tin said.

Alaska Milk Corp. Vice-President for Marketing Ma. Belen M. Fernando said a 15% advertising rate increase was tolerable if ABS-CBN would be able to rationalize it and produce results.

"If we get the values that what we are paying for, then it is fine. If it allows us to de-clutter the market and our material is seen effectively, then it is financially viable, Ms. Fernando said.

Ms. Fernando, who is also the chairman of the Philippine Association of National Advertisers (PANA) Foundation added: "If it is just for the sake of increasing without yields on our part then we could explore other options. It has a tradition to increase rates every April and sometimes it is not justified."

ABS-CBN Investors Relations Head Kenneth V. Nerecina said that on top of the increased advertising rate, the consolidation of Sky Cable’s business should boost the broadcast firm’s performance this year.

"We are looking forward to the consolidation of Sky Cable, hopefully this year. The revenue portfolio would increase as its contribution is comparable to [with] ABS-CBN Global," he said.

ABS-CBN Global accounts to about 21-22% of consolidated revenues. Should the consolidation happen, Sky Cable’s revenue share would be 20%.

ABS-CBN has earmarked P1.6 billion for capital expenditures this year, the bulk of which would be spent for film rights acquisition and other expenses such as equipment. — MGSR

Pretty TV host thrown out of pad by landlord

If you see her on TV, you wouldn’t think that a pretty TV host could be, well, troublesome.

Ask the owner of the condo unit that she and her boyfriend (member of a band) are renting and the landlord will tell you a different story.

“The couple has been constantly fighting,” the landlord told Funfare. “These past few weeks, their fighting has become more violent.”

A few nights ago, the TV host came home in the wee hours of the morning and threw a gigantic tantrum. Her boyfriend didn’t open the door at once, so she started rapping at the door, rousing the whole neighborhood. And then, she got a fire extinguisher and smashed the door with it, destroying the narra door.

“Once inside,” the landlord said, “she continued her rampage.”

The exasperated landlord had no choice but to call the police.

“I will terminate their lease then throw them out of my place,” the landlord said

Okay ang Survivor na i-franchise in Philippine version. Maraming locations rito sa Pilipinas ang pwedeng maging shooting location ng survivor at kahit wala pa ang Survivor franchise ay nagawa rin ang mga ganitong genre (sa kabila lang nagawan). Kung Amazing Race naman, Pilipinas na lang ang libutin kaysa sa multiple countries. Malaking halaga, I guess, ang kakailanganin dahil maraming bansa ang pupuntahan at may mga babayaran sa mga fees over here and there. Well, may kasabihan naman, "if there's a will, there's a way" so makakayanan rin iyan.
