I will admit I am more ABS-CBN avid watcher kaya lang pag dating ng DAMo.. I am sorry for ABS-CBN.. mag GMA 7 ako..kasi pinalampas ng ABS the opportunity to get a beautiful series like DAMo.. kahit anong itapat ng DOS sa DAMO pag time ng showing nito.. I will definitely watched this series.. Gandang-ganda ako sa series na ito..Nakasangkap na ang lahat ....Kaya hindi ako nang hinayaan to get a copy of this series... Bakit kasi sinimulan na nila si Ha-jiwon sa Bali hindi pa nila tinuloy tuloy ang pagkuha...masabi ko lang pinalampas nila ang DAMo...halos lahat ng magandang Korean Novela ay nakuha ng GMA 7 ..kasi di ko sasabihin ito kung di ko na siya napanood sa English subtitled...

unfortunately, ABS is not going to claim their name again...ang hina nila...y did the GMA get the chance to invite LDG when its ABS who made LDG popular? i mean i never expected magiging mas hi tech pa ang GMA wen it comes inviting their imports korean stars...tsk..tsk..sayang..its too sad...i know ABS is promting our own filipino talents but these days,audiences want something new and more exciting.something different from our own tastes... well... i hope ABS can catch up the popularity GMA is recieving now....goodluck nlng....:o

MALI TALAGA ang ABS to NOT put 101 in prime time eh remember yung STH nag hit talaga. At yung girl din na bida sa STH ang bida sa 101. Dapat yung green rose ang ilipat sa timeslot ngayon nang 101 at 101 ang ilagay sa timeslot nang green rose.

Ewan ko ba kung bakit mahina talaga magprogramming ang ABS pagdating sa asian soaps nila. Nakakabwisit.

Nakapanuod ako kahapon ng 101 ang ganda as in sana nga primetime or replace sa Mr bean....

I think siguro ABS-CBN management had learned its lesson, tanggap na nila siguro na hindi nila panahon ngayon, panahon ng GMA-7 ngayon sa pagiging hari ng telebisyon. On what I think about ABS-CBN plans mukhang they are determine to make name ABROAD. On what I've heard (I hope its true ha) na they are seeking plans for Brazil & other South American countries for their TFC. Tapos na kasi yung sa Europe (Vatican, Italy, Rome TFC etc.) nila so siguro its time to meet other borders of other continents. Saka I know nag-fofocus sila na maibahagi sa ibang bansa ang mga drama series nila like sa Mexico, Thailand, Indonesia & Kuala Lumpur. Kaya nga wala yung ibang Star Magic artists di ba dahil either nasa abroad promoting like Echo & Kristine Hermosa or kasama sa US Caravan nila. As of Asian series is concern I think ABS-CBN play fair naman sa pagkuha ng mga Korean series & J-dorama nila. Sa mga Asian star worth million kasi ang ibabayad natin kung mag-iinvite tayo rito eh baka pa-sweldo na iyon ng isang show kung nagkataon. Not unless may big sponsor or mismong ang management house nila ang magbigay like kay Jerry Yan na tie-up sa Bench Co. or dati yung F2 (Jerry & Vic or Ken & Vaness). Yung kay Lee Dong-gun mismong agency house ni Lee ang nagprovide at hindi ang GMA management. Parang media outlet lang ang GMA-7 sa pagpunta niya rito sa Pilipinas dahil doon ang may excisting show (Sweet 18 & the upcoming Friends). And as of GMA-7 sinasamantala nila ang pagiging hit nila ngayon "strike while the iron is hot". :D

takang-taka rin ako sa abs ... bakit pinipilit nila ang mga tearjerkers sa primetime. ok, tama rin naman yung suportahan nila ang mga local artists pero ang genre na super melodramas bulok na sa panlasa ng mga pinoy. at sana lang tigil-tigilan na ang mga drama na ang mga bata ang ginagawang biktima o sinasaktan. naiintindihan kaya ng mga abs writers o ng creative dept ano ang ibig sabihin ng subliminal learning at ano ang mga ini-inject nila sa mga viewers nila kung ang napapanood eh yung mga batang ginugulpi, inuuntog o sinasampal? sana tigilan na lang nila gamitin ang mga bata bilang mga biktima. mag-isip naman sila ng ibang konsepto, 'wag lang verbal o physical abuse ang gamitin. kaya yang gulong ng palad o flordeluna man o analiza ... i-scrap na lang. masasayang lang yan. ubos na ba ang mga writers?

I'm not satisfied with evrything they do..I really miss the old ABS that fully satisfies the viewers taste...

I couldnt agree more, nonsense talaga, nakakasuka mga untugan, ginugulping bata, ay naku ano ito dyos ko.

I remember my niece saying the other day na bakit daw ganun sa 2, kulang na lang daw patayin ang mga bata, kaya di na sila pinapanood feeling ng mga bata kawawa sila.


Kampanerang kuba ano ito, naging comic na nga, maganda pa naman ang concept nung una, pumapangit na...ano ba yan...

Be competitive naman, mag koreanovela nalang kayo lahat after tv patrol may laban pa.

I remember before mga 5 years ago, Iloilo was an ABS-CBN country, our place is about 30km from the city..during those times only 2 channels ang clear ang signal or may signal totally.. that was ABS CBN Iloilo and ABS CBN Bacolod.

Pero nung naging clear ang signal ng GMA 10 iloilo, sino na ngayon ang No.1 sa iloilo? I dont have to answer that.

Sa bacolod naman at Negros Occidental, watch out this year tingnan natin...
Sa La Carlota City noon dalawang channel din, ABS CBN Bacolod at ABS CBN Cebu....

Bilib ako sa signal ng ABS Bacolod ang lakas kahit ang DWRR from Bacolod grabe kahit sa bundok ka na ng Kanlaonm ang lakas.

I just can't believe that this is happening..

Although ABS is losing all its grip I'm still an ABS-CBN fan..it's in blood already so I can't do anything to change it..

I like their new reality show "Big Brother" something new but I don't think that could cope..lols!

Spring Day, Green Rose and Feell Young is a great move for ABS but they advertised it poorly..It would have been a Phenomenal hit but they promoted it very low...

Issue about Hero Angeles..napka injustice naman...

Korena should get the MGB and be returned to TVPworld..

Search for the Star in a Million should be promoted and change its set..tama na ang pangongoripot...please..!

ive watched this great indian movie lately Lagaan, a potential for phil. market why not bring indian telenovelas here, a great catch for ABS, no use crying over spilled milk, also try Bhutanese shows top notch, or monks shows of the Mekong...a great prime time show.

THE television ratings war between ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp. and GMA Network Inc. has spilled overseas, with the two leading networks simultaneously staging their star-studded shows for the Filipino-American community in the Bay Area this Saturday.

GMA Network flew about 40 stars and executives to San Francisco last week, while ABS-CBN dispatched an apparently bigger delegation.

Because of the entertainment invasion, the business class section of Philippines Airlines has been fully booked these past few days; even frequent-flier businessman Roberto Cuenca could not get a seat on the San Francisco flight.

If you believe the pro-ABS-CBN grapevine , the network of the Lopez group has stolen the thunder from the competition with its salvo last Sunday at the humongous Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, with no less than Nora Aunor among the main guests.

But more than the ratings battle, the ABS-CBN and GMA Network roadshows are providing entertainment relief for Filipino-Americans, who have grown sick of the daily barrage of toxic politics from their land of birth.

Even ABS-CBN honcho Eugenio Lopez III apparently welcomed the overseas break, so he would not get besieged daily from all quarters about the content and direction of his network's political coverage.

According to the grapevine, Lopez plans to fly back to Manila next week, after President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has delivered her State of the Nation (or whatever is left of the nation) Address to Congress.

So the only stars I saw who were giving autographs away were Ogie Alcacid, Kris Aquino, Richard Gomez & Lucy Torres, si James Yap was only there to accompany Kris Aquino. So I saw them from far away and pass by me up-close, hindi na ako nakipagsiksikan dahil na kita ko na nga sila. haha.

So lumabas na ang mga first people who got an autograph and I over heard them saying "Yun lang yun? Ang saya!

Well marami ang na disappoin na tao na hindi nakakita sa mga guests as many people waited in the wrong side of the mall when all along the special guests were signing autographs na on the other side of the mall.

May taga GMA PR na nag invite for people to join them sa concert nila mamaya. He was boooed by some people. Some of them were chanting "TFC" TFC" and "Kapamilya kami!" while he was delivering his invite. That was so embarrassing! Obiovusly mas maraming maka ABS sa crowd pero in fairness may mga taon din curious and ready to watch GMA 7's SOP concert mamaya.

I dont know and this is just my opinion, medyo 'nag age' na siya. How old is he na ba? Sure ako though, like wine ang pag age niya! Si Ogie was wearing aplain red ****y on jeans. Eh ano ba ang height niya? Maliit na tao but I'm sure he's blessed in other ways...hoy mga bastos...sa boses is what I mean.

Anyway, papunta na ako sa Monster Park baka malayo na ang parking ko. Ready na ang buong barkada for the ASAP .concert and the Buzz later.

Hopefully maganda position ko mamaya to be able to take good photo shots. Hindi pala sa stadium mismo ang show lie, the one in Pasadena's Rose Bowl, but sa parking lot. Pero sure ako maraming tao pa rin.

Hindi masyado sila dinumog ng mga Fil Am as face it, hindi masyado kilala yuong mga artista nila except for Regine Velasquez, Richard Gomez et al - yuong matagal nang artista. Pero sa mga press releases ng paid GMA hacks, eh sulat ng sulat na marami ang mga tao gustong makita nila. Nakakatawa nga isang sulat diyan, na "sold out" daw yuong ticket for their show tomorrow sa Bill Graham. Eh I think "sold out" is not the right word for it kasi nga free ang ticket di ba?

Anyway, yuong ibang mga ABS CBN stars , bukod sa rehearsals for the show tomorrow, found time to do the sights around San Fran in the last few days since they arrived sa area from LA last Tuesday. Dumating karamihan ng mga artista who did the show from LA last Tuesday via Southwest Airlines flight thru Oakland Airport sa across the bay. Sina Zsazsa Padilla, Vina Morales ay nag sight seeing sa Fishermans Wharf, Pier 39 Area Nuong Wednesday. Yuong mga younger set, like Joross and Roxanne Guinoo, Nikki Gil and Sheryn Regis ay dinala ng TFC sa Great America Park sa Santa Clara , an amusement park known for its wild rides and attractions. Yuong iba, nag private time na lang doing shopping et al.

Tomorrow is the big show sa Monster Park aka Candlestick Park. I'm sure dagsain ng mga Filipino ang show na ito. It's a good thing that TFC announced na libre ang parking doon kasi for a while it was a concern kasi normally $25 ang bayad pag mag park sa Moster Park. I know from friends na yuong mga kamag anak at kaibigan nila are driving from out of state like Reno Nevada, Oregon and Seattle to watch the show tomorrow. So malamang mas marami ang tao doon kaysa 30,000 na na nood sa Pasadena.

So kung 'sold out' ( as in free tickets na pinamigay) talaga ang show ng GMA tomorrow night sa Bill Graham - expect mga 7,000 people to be there as that's the capacity ny venue na ito. Pero across the street sa venu ng GMA expect a big banner at the San Francisco City Hall declaring July 23 as Kapamilya Day. Mamayang gabi (friday here), ay may Gala Dinner with all the ABS CBN stars, TFC executives, prominent local Fil Am community leaders and movers , San Francisco Bay Area government officials headed by San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom are expected to attend. Ito ay mangyayari sa San Francisco City Hall historic rotunda.

Ayon sa text message, may langaw daw pala sa San Francisco dahil nilangaw daw ang show ng Kapuso.

Half-filled daw ang venue, walang dancers at dry ang palabas.

"The Mayor declared the day July 23 as ABS-CBN global day. Need I say more? SOP is a mere mall show compared to ASAP," ayon sa mensaheng natanggap namin.

Kinumpirma naman namin ang balita mula sa isang Kapuso executive at aniya ay walang katotohanan ang ikinakalat ng Kapamilya.

"Ang Bill Graham Auditorium," say niya, "ang pinakamalaking closed venue sa SanFo. Du'n kami. Sila, sa maliit lang na park. Ang sa kanila, concert at the park, 'yung palabas sa Channel 4.

"'Yung LA (Los Angeles) show nila ang half-filled. Dapat whole stadium, pero hindi kinaya, kaya hindi na nila binuksan ang likod. Teka, nanood sila ng show namin?

"Isulat na lang nila na maganda ang show nila. 'Wag na sila manira. Why do they need to do this kung talagang confident sila sa show nila?

Well got to the park at about 12:45 na. As I said earlier dito on Saturday morning, the show was going to be held sa parking lot ng Monster Park Stadium , which disappointed many of those who came kasi nga they were expecting na ala Rose Bowl with matching stadium bleacher seats and decent rest rooms. My estimate of the crowd, mga 40,000 to 50,000 yata - although admittedly hindi ako expert sa ganyan but definitely it was a good crowd. Maraming nahimatay sa init, I saw around four ladies on my side sa may front stage ang dinala ng mga security sa First Aid station.

The Show:

Fe delos Reyes front acted the suceeding shows. She did a good job warming up the crowd ( as if they weren't 'hot') by then. Also about five local young singers who were introduced as Pinoy Pop Idols did individual song numbers.

The Buzz :

The typical show. Medyo kulang sa intriga considering as their exclusive with guest Nora Aunor did not really reveal any new explosive revelations tungkol sa kinasasangkutan niyang kaso dito sa USA.

Kris Aquino had three costume changes. I love her candidness and openness - tinanong niya ang crowd kung ilang costume changes ang gusto nila. LOL! Kris said she came prepared with at least three costumes. She did not disappoint. First she came in an cool baby pink outfit, then a sexy pants and tube piece and then a smashing, yellow gown done daw by Rajo Laurel and Paul Cabral. The crowd just loved her. Siya yata ang nagbigay flavor at kasayan at enganyo for the people to stay to the end of the show despite the heat. Otherwise, kung sina Boy and Cristy Fermin lang, eh malamang marami na ang nag uuwian sa init.

Antonette Taus had an interview with Boy Abunda. May saya si Vhong Navarro and the Antoehrs cast. Then sina Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo with Kris Aquino and then Nora Aunor.

ASAP 05

All the disappontment of the venue and all ay nawal dahil sa bonggang opening number na talagang pinaghandaan ng ASAP production people. I mean it was like no other - Top notch talaga. Super. Yuong mga puti na nasa side namin ay na pa believe sa bonggalicious na opening number na yon. Suddenly naging alove ang crowd which was startnig to become thick na. Kudos sa bunog producation and ASAP cast!!!

May helicopter na nag circle around the park taking vantage aerial shots of the show. Ava bongga!
Overall, the ASAP show was superb. I wanted to stay till the Finale pero I was afraid mag ka traffic jam na pauwi and I live alomst two hours from San Francisco, so after Judy Ann Santos and Piolo Pascual's and Bea Alonzo and John Lyold Cruz' numer, umuwi na ako.

Feedback sa mga tao na nandoon was generally good, although they felt the venue could have been better but as some people would say you know ' ang Pinoy daw mahilig mag reklamo. Eh, libre na nga young show!'. My comments, I think the venue was appropriate naman, yun lang nagkataon mainit talaga - which was beyond the control of the show organiserz. Normally, malamig and pleasant of a weather diyan, pero na timing lang talaga. It was a good thing that people started to appreciate their sticking thru the heat and all after the great ASAP 05 show na except glitch (na na edit I'm sure) went as smooth as silk.

Highlights:
Zsazsa Padilla's sexy gown which collectively drew 'oohs and ahhs' from the crowd. Very revealing. Malapit maexpose yuong mga parts na hindi dapat ma expose kasi nga mahangin. In fairness, Zsazsa acted like a pro and 'held that part of the gown everytime the wind would blow threatening to expose her you know what...She even joked about it na medo unexpected ang hanging at nakalimutan daw niya San Francisco pala is a windy city to whuch the crowd laughed.

Congrats to everyone involved sa show. I mean I think majority who came could not ask for anything more. Many came home with a smile in their face and promise to be Kapamilya Forever.

"Pinoy Big Brother" is the country’s counterpart of Endemol’s "Big Brother," worldwide series aired in the United Kingdom, Brazil, Australia and Thailand among the other 31 countries holding a "Big Brother" reality-TV show.

"Pinoy Big Brother" like in the rest of the countries it is shown, will feature the lives of 12 housemates ( six male and six females aged 20 to 40 years old) or contestants who will live together in a Big Brother house for 100 days. The catch is that inside the Big Brother house are video cameras watching their every move i.e. while they’re eating, sleeping, showering, having conversations, fights, kissing, etcetera. What the video cameras will show will be the dramas that will unfold as these 12 housemates interact with each other for 100 days. And nudity as far as "Big Brother" is concerned has been part of the show because housemates would sometimes suddenly bare or are caught making out with their fellow housemates. Fortunately for the conservative Filipino televiewers and parents watching prime time shows with their children, nudity will be a big no in "Pinoy Big Brother!"

The producers or Business Head Units Ms. Linggit Tan and and Laurenti Dyogi are aware though of the possibility that some of their chosen housemates would bare in one of the episodes. They would just make sure that these won’t be aired.

"I think the ‘kalaswaan’ in ‘Big Brother’ got worst because there’s a lot of it being shown now. At first hindi naman daw ganun. Siguro it just gets edgier as it gets along kasi like in Hungary we heard that their housemates were all porn stars so it was impossible that they won’t bare at all. Even in Australia, the government there is getting mad at the series. Here, if there would be someone who would expose himself, we just won’t include it in the show," explained Laurenti Dyogi, the director of "Qpids" the reality-TV show in search of perfect love team.

He added that as of the moment he wouldn’t know how to tackle such incidents when they happen during the run of the series. Because of the numerous characters in the Big Brother house, the unexpected is really bound to happen.

"We don’t really know how we will tone down the show. But definitely yung maghuhubad hindi ipapakita," Mr. Dyogi declared.

Such concern of the producers is expected since ABS-CBN is shelling out millions of pesos in mounting "Pinoy Big Brother." Just building the Big Borther house which is located in front of the ELJC Building of ABS-CBN is very expensive. Though they won’t say exactly how much it costs them, you could make an estimate yourself by multiplying the price of lots nowadays in that area which is a business zone to almost 1,500 square meters and also multiply the building cost nowadays per square meter to a floor area of more than 3,000 square meteres.

That’s only the Big Brother house structure. The interior will have a centralized airconditioning system, a swimming pool and a garden outside, security outside the compound, a second floor equipped with the best editing facilities and 26 cameras all over the Big Brother House. To top it all, expenses would also include the 10 day extensive and intense training of the "Pinoy Big Brother" production crew.

Inside the Big Brother house is a fully functional house with two bathrooms, a kitchen, a living room and it has a centralized airconditioning system. Outside the house is a swimming pool and a garden. On the second floor is the video and editing room to which the 26 cameras inside the house are connected to. The Big Brother house will also have an altar at the corner of the house wherein Sunday masses would be held. There will also be a confession room which is popularly known as the "diary room" in the some of the "Big Brother" series. These changes according to them are because the show has been also patterned after Filipino norms.

The other changes from the original "Big Brother" for the "Pinoy Big Brother," are: There will be no "Strip to Bare Back Necessities" in which they live, instead of calling it an eviction, it will be called elimination, housemates can vote on the next housemate to be eliminated and even televiewers can text who should stay in the Big Brother House. The housemates will also have daily tasks and weekly assignments. They will also have an allowance so they can order and buy food.

"There’s a lot of difference already. First of all, the Filipina contestants were the ones who backed out because their parents or boyfriends and husbands didn’t allow them to stay in another house for 100 days. Mas marami ang nag-apply na lalake because I think the misconception was that ‘Big Brother’ was a contest about searching for a brotherly figure!"

So how were the candidates chosen?

As of press time there are already 30 hopefuls. The 12 housemates will be chosen from them and Mr. Dyogi enumerated some of the traits they are looking for in a candidate.

"The person should have an interesting personality. They should be from 20 to 40 years old so they have enough experience to share and talk about. We can’t discount the fact the 12 housemates should also have good looks, they should have an easy time sharing their emotions, they are articulate and eloquent and interesting. But we could not have contestants with the same personalities. Dapat may mix," he elaborated. "Dapat interesante yung tao. Kailangang sa 12 may itsura rin pero hindi lahat. Importante sa amin yung madaling makipagkuwentuhan, yung masasabi mo yung emotions mo, eloquent either in Tagalog or English, gusto mong malaman ang nasa loobin niya, kailangang halo rin kasi hindi puwedeng madaldal lahat, kailangang may laid-back din ng konti para kapag nagsama-sama sila may mangyayari."

With regards to the possibility of having gay housemates, he stressed that they did have a number of lesbians and gays who auditioned and there were even some included among the 30 candidates. Unfortunately it would be the people from Endemol who would decide if the the first season of "Pinoy Big Brother" would have a gay contestant or not.

The rationale is that the first episodes of "Big Brother" usually have staright housemates. Then as the series progresses into another season, variety is added like the winner of the 2nd "Big Brother" in United Kingdom which was a transvestite. People from Endemol will also be present to guide them in selecting the final 12 housemates.

"Personally as a producer this is something new for the Filipinos so I don’t know how they will warm up to it. Hindi ito madalian and kailanagang pahinugin. Hindi kasi familiar ang tao and hindi mga artista so I don’t know how they’ll react to that. Interesting kung pag tiyatiyagaan because bago ang concept," said Mr. Dyogi.

"Pinoy Big Brother" when it launches on Aug. 21 will be seen on Channel 2 and Studio 23 and on a 24-hour basis on the Internet and cable. The website is www.pinoybigbrother.com.ph. And before it airs, the making of "Pinoy Big Brother" will be seen on Aug. 7 and 14 which will give televiewers a glimpse on how taxing and exciting the auditions were in Manila and other provincial areas like Cebu and Davao.

When auditions for the "Pinoy Big Brother" was announced last May, 25,000 attended for a chance to be one of the Big Brother housemates!

This is a Big challenge for ABS, big brother became a phenomenal hit in other countries, pag naging big hit ito, this could be the break ABS is waiting...

The premiere episode rating will determine kung maganda ang reception ng tao dito. Kung and pilot ratings nito ay Below 30% it means hindi sya well received and mahirap na mag-take off ito, pero kung above 30% or 35% it means higly anticipated ito, it only means the interest is already there and they have to keep up a good show lang to maintain the ratings.

The takeoff weight of Airbus 380 is 560 tonnes, imagine an engine thrust of 311kN to have this thing fly, but maintaining it to fly will only require half of that thrust.

Everything is on takeoff....if you cant takeoff you cant fly.

Get ready to be thrilled, excited and intrigued as ABS-CBN’s "Pinoy Big Brother" soon enters your free air television, cable and Internet this August. "Pinoy Big Brother" is the country’s counterpart of Endemol’s "Big Brother," worldwide series aired in the United Kingdom, Brazil, Australia and Thailand among the other 31 countries holding a "Big Brother" reality-TV show.

"Pinoy Big Brother" like in the rest of the countries it is shown, will feature the lives of 12 housemates ( six male and six females aged 20 to 40 years old) or contestants who will live together in a Big Brother house for 100 days. The catch is that inside the Big Brother house are video cameras watching their every move i.e. while they’re eating, sleeping, showering, having conversations, fights, kissing, etcetera. What the video cameras will show will be the dramas that will unfold as these 12 housemates interact with each other for 100 days. These housemates will not be allowed any contact with the outside world, thus mobile phones, newspapers, television, radio, computers and even writing materials will not be permitted inside the Big Brother house. Viewers as well as housemates will determine who will be evicted or eliminated in the case of "Pinoy Big Brother" until a winner emerges this December.

The grand prize at stake is a cool R1 million, a house and lot courtesy of Filmal Realy located at St. Monique Villais and a brand new car!

The Internet is often filled with websites containing items about "Big Brother" in different parts of the world. And often they would contain nudity. Kasama ang God Mars nina Vic Zhou at Barbie Xu sa teaser na ipinakikita ng GMA-7 ng kanilang Asian novelas na ipalalabas. Ibig kayang sabihin nito'y hindi na itutuloy ng istasyon ang balak na sa Zoe TV Channel 11 ipalabas ang TV drama dahil dark daw ang story? Nabanggit namin kay Joey Abacan na hindi magugustuhan ng fans ng dalawa na hindi sa Channel 7 ito mag-air lalo't matagal nang hinihintay.

Hindi naman makumpirma ni Joey kung bibilhin nila ang Silence, ang bagong series ni Vic. Nang sabihin naming bibilhin o binili na ng ABS-CBN ang White Tower ni Jerry Yan, mukhang nagbago ang isip nito.

However, because of the extreme heat, I decided to skip ASAP. Baka kasi sumpungin ako ng asthma ko. Anyway, my family and I went to see the SOP concert. It’s not true that it was filled to capacity. But in fairness, almost filled to capacity naman siya. Iyong mga empty seats were mostly in the General Admission area. At tsaka iyong ibang empty seats, hindi talaga puwedeng upuan kasi obstructed view na siya. Considering naman na wala naman silang tv commercials advertising the show, at katapat pa nila ang ASAP show na established na talaga dito sa US, okay na rin iyong turn-out nila. It’s not true na nagdagdag sila ng seats to accommodate requests for more tickets. Bill Graham Civic Auditorium can only seat so much. What they actually did was to request Bill Graham management to issue more tickets in the General Admission area to accommodate requests for more tickets. I was one of those kasi who e-mailed them a week before the show to request tickets. They told me that they were all out of tickets. Then a couple of days later, they e-mailed me back saying that they issued more tickets. That’s how I was able to see the show. In the end, it didn’t matter na rin. Kasi, on the actual day of the concert, kahit walang ticket, puwedeng pumasok.

We enjoyed the SOP concert. I think they had a live band. Nakatago siya sa side kaya hindi siya makita. But from where I’m seated sa right side ng General Admission area, I have a partial view of them. I only looked at them once, so I wasn’t sure kung live band nga lahat ng numbers.

Medyo turn off ako sa mga parinig ng GMA sa ABS-CBN during the show. They keep saying, finally, “malalaman niyo na rin ang totoo”, “ito ang totoo”, “hindi na kayo mangungulila”, “hindi n’yo na mamimiss ang mga shows sa Pilipinas,”, blah, blah, blah”. At tsaka iyong mga ibang young stars nila, (with the exception of Richard Gutierrez), parang walang dating sa akin. Nanghinayang ako sa kaguwapuhan ni Richard kasi parang mas marami siyang puwedeng makapartner kung nasa ABS-CBN siya.

It’s true that most people left before the show ended, but not because they thought some of the performers were palpak or boring. Actually, the SOP family made a big bubu. Towards the end (or what we mistakenly thought the end of the show), they all came out and started thanking people for coming. And then they invited the audience to come forward and dance with them. They started singing a VST medley. Some people started leaving na. They thought that’s the end of the show. When the SOP family realized that people were leaving, they said something na hindi pa sila tapos (I actually didn’t even hear this part). But at that time, it was already too late. Most of the people left already. Then after the VST number, they dimmed the lights, so most everyone thought it’s really over. I thought it was over, too. And then, here comes Richard Gutierrez again. Iyon pala, meron pa pala silang show na parang counterpart yata ng Fanatic. I don’t know the name of the show. Had people realized that it’s not the end of the show yet, I think they would have stayed. Iyon tuloy, by the time, the show ended, 1/3 or 1/4 na lang ng audience ang natira. Sayang coz they missed a very energetic dance number. Astig talaga! Jaya, Regine, Janno, and Ogie also came back to perform another number at the end of the show.

Over-all, our SOP experience was enjoyable naman. I will definitely subscribe to Pinoy TV come August 1 kahit na mukhang apat na shows lang ang gusto kong panoorin. But, it’s okay. Apat na shows din lang sa TFC ang pinapanood ko. At tsaka, dapat suportahan lang natin sila pareho kasi pare-pareho naman tayong Pilipino. Iyang mga network wars na iyan, dapat hanggang Pilipinas na lang iyan. I’m just very grateful to ABS-CBN for bringing TFC. At least through TFC, we’re able to keep in touch to what’s happening in the Philippines. Here comes Pinoy TV naman. Wish ko lang sana iyong GMA, medyo bawasan sana kahit kaunti iyong arrogance nila. Grabe kasi!

RIGHT in the middle of the Extra Challenge taping, bigla raw binawi ng ABS-CBN ang pahintulot nilang lumabas si Marvin Agustin sa naturang programa ng kalabang network.

This happened last Wednesday afternoon sa Malabon where the reality-based program was taping their next episode. Morning, nakapagsimula na sila ng taping at nakunan na si Marvin with Jolina Magdangal as partner. Pagdating ng hapon, pinu-pull out na raw ng ABS CBN si Marvin from participating sa nasabing programa. Marvin is still an ABS-CBN talent with a live contract until next year so, sila pa rin ang nag-a-approve at nagdi-disapprove ng mga paglabas ni Marvin outside their network.

Kahit may nakunan na ang Extra Challenge kina Marvin and Jolens, no choice ang program but to edit it out. Pinalitan si Marvin ni Biboy Ramirez as Jolen's

partner. At kinunan ulit ang eksenang iyon ng latest episode ng Extra Challenge.

Ayaw naming maniwala na it was because of Jolens kung bakit siya tinanggal dahil in the first place, pumayag naman sila na mag-guest si Marvin sa Bubble Gang Jr. noon with Jolens as partner din.

Sana malinawan ang tunay na dahilan kung bakit kailangang tanggalin ng Dos si Marvin sa EC

Ako ay isang communication arts graduate from dlsu. gusto ko lang mag comment about dito sa nakakaaliw na labanan ng mga networks, nabasa ko ang mga comments ng iba, but i need also to bring out my point of view. nakapagwork na ko sa gma pero nasa abscbn na ko ngayon which you can really feel you are part of the family. di lang puro puso, meron ring kalinga... i have here some questions and answers na sinagutan ko.

1. Sino ang mas powerful? 2 or 7?

-sino pa nga ba? eh di syempre abscbn2. natural dahil mas mayaman, sa totoo lang! Lopezes is one of the 5 elites in the Philippines. pero si Atty. Gozon ng gma7 ay hindi. maraming kumpanya ang lopez (Sky cable, bayan tel, home cable, meralco, rockwell land and powerplant mall at marami pang iba). maraming tv stations pati sa cable(ANC, MYX, Lifestyle Network, Cinema one, pinoy central at studio 23). mga magazines, (pink, metro, star studio etc.) pati recording at film making ay meron sila. (star records and Star cinema- makers of quality film) pati ibang bansa ay mayroong The Filipino Channel (TFC) na natatanging mata at boses ng mga pilipino sa ibang bansa. Sa responsibilidad ng pagtulong sa kapwa at serbisyong totoo sa bayan ay mayroong bantay bata, bantay kalikasan, bantay usok at Abs-cbn foundation. Sa dinami dami di ko na kaya pang banggitin ang nakakalulang kayamanan ng abs-cbn na pagaari ng eletistang si Genie Lopez. na sa tingin ko ay 100% walang wala ang gma 7. nakakahiya man sa gma 7 sabihin pero ang totoo ay wala sila sa kalingkingan ng abscbn

2. Sino mas mataas magpasahod?

-Syempre ang mas mayaman, ang abscbn! ang tunay na may pera at may pusong handang magbigay ng sapat na sweldo sa mga empleyado at talents nito.

3. Kaninong network ang mas may magandang studio? facilities, lights, OB van, sounds at video graphic designs?

-ang studio ng gma ay mukhang basura! aminan na ito! kung ayaw mo maniwala ay pumunta ka sa broadway studios at wag magpabulag sa maliit na lupang kinatatayuan ng gma building sa kanto ng edsa kamuning.alam mo ba na sobrang ganda at sobrang lamig sa loob ng dos? para kang nasa hotel. sobrang hi-tech at ganda ng loob! i-try nyo na lang magpunta... lahat ng kagamitan ng dos ay puro bago, puro hi-tech! kung ikaw ay mascom, comarts or orgcom student i-try mo mag practi##### sa dalawang network nang malaman mo ang sinasabi ko, kung ano ang pagkakaiba ng facilities ng dalawa! nang mapatunayan nyo na mas maganda ang kagamitan ng dos. mas may pera ay mas may kayang gumastos sa mga shows at fascilities!

4. Sino ang tunay na manggagaya?

-pareho lang na naggagayahan... kung inaakala ng iba na 2 ang nanggagaya. mali po kayo! gumagaya din ang gma! alam na nating ginaya na ng gma ang station id, maalaala mo kaya, chinovelas, telenovela sa primetime, na dati sa gma ay puro non sense na anime / cartoons. pati ang talent center ay ginaya na nila na kung tawagin nila'y artists center. excuse me sa mga nagsasabing ginaya ng willingly yours ang wish ko lang... mali po kayo! bago pa magkaroon ng bernadette sembrano ay nauna na si sharon cuneta sa wish upon a mega ng abs-cbn. isa pa, sa ratings din lang eh talaga namang abscbn ang tunay na nangunguna! aminan na kasi! walang show at naging show ang gma na sumobrang patok hanggang labas ng bansa! di lang dahil sa walang TFC ang gma! wala silang "pangako sayo" na ipagmamalaki ng mga pinoy dahil ito ay pinapalabas na sa ibat ibang bansa na pinatungan ng ibat ibang lingwahe. wag nang isaksak pa sa isipan na dos lang ang nanggagaya. ang syete ay ganun din. pareho lang sila! bobo na lang siguro ang taong di nakikita ang lahat ng ito! sabihin ng gma ng taas noong never sila nanggaya eh baka sambahin ko sila! kaya sa mga taong nagbubulagbulagan! aminan na!

5. ano ang mas engrande sa pag gawa ng musical specials? 2 or 7?

-natural ulit syempre ang may pera! halos linggo linggo ay may musical special ang dos! at annually ang kanilang christmas special kung saan kumpleto ang pamilya sa pag gawa ng napaka engrandeng production taun taon! kung naaalala mo ang Back2back2christmas ng gma kung saan ay sila regine lang ang pangunahing kasama,katapat naman ang Isang pamilya isang puso ngayong pasko ng dos na halos lahat ng artista ay nandun na! isa lang ang ibig sabihin nito! mas malaki ang budget ng abscbn sa mga specials kesa sa gma! ano pa nga ba ang ibabatbat ng gma sa nakalipas na "kapamilya abs-cbn at 5o" powerful ang production! ang stage! ang umaapaw na wines sa pagpasok mo sa tent bago mag plenary hall ng picc. labas pa lang eh parang hollywood na sa red carpet treatment! powerful ang powerhouse family! ang mga ambassadors at mga eletistang tulad nina cojuanco at zobel de ayala. nakakaloka ang mga guest! ang mga invited ay alta sa syudad! pagsasamasama ng mga artista, eletista, mayayaman at mga sosyal sa pilipinas! na di kayang gawin at pagsama samahin ng gma!

6. Sa kabuuan ay:

- nag conduct na ko ng survey nito ng mag thesis ako. lumalabas na ang crowd ng gma ay mga masa kalimitan at ang crowd ng abscbn ay mga sosyal na tao kalimitan. hindi sinasabi ng survey na walang nanonood na masa sa dos at walang nanood na sosyal sa syete. pero, 80% ng mga sosyal ay sa dos at 72% ng masa ay sa syete. kung baduy ang paguusapan kayo na ang mag judge sa kinalabasan ng survey na ito. and standard na tinayo ng dos ay may touch of class, di kayang ibaba ang lebel nila bilang isa sa top corporate company na may standard na dapat tutukan. unlike ng gma, sumombra ang tutok nilang makuha ang masa na nakaapekto upang bumaba ang kanilang corporate standard. sa tanong na kabaduyan, saan ka ba sa dalawang network na ito nabibilang? kapuso ka ba o kapamilya?

Mas magandang di hamak ngayon ang katayuan ni Jolina Magdangal dahil mas lumalabas ang kanyang talents, di gaya noong araw na ipinipilit siya bilang ka-love team ni Marvin Agustin, na wala na ring ningning ang career ngayon. Tingnan ninyo sina Mark Herras at Jennylyn Mercado, ginawang stars ng GMA. Si Hero Angeles naman, jinunk ng Channel 2.

Si Ariel Rivera, nasa number one Sunday noontime show ngayon. Si Vina Morales, naroroon sa number two show, at ang masakit, dalawa lang naman ang magkalaban.

ABS-CBN posts P185-M net income in first half, down 67%

ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation posted a net income of R185 million in the first half of the year, reversing losses posted in the first quarter, but still 67 percent lower than the R560 million earned in the same period in 2004.

ABS-CBN chief financial officer Randolph Estrellado said the firm’s finances continue to reflect weaker airtime revenues and higher costs due to the impact of a lower ratings performance and a highly competitive environment.

Gross airtime and other broadcasting related revenues reached R5.2 billion, down 6 percent year-on-year as Mega Manila Channel 2 household ratings fell to 14 percent in the first half of 2005 from 16 percent in the same period last year.

For the second quarter this year, gross airtime revenues declined by 5 percent to R2.9 billion. Excluding the political ads that were booked in the same period last year though, gross airtime revenues were up by 6 percent.

On a positive note, net sales sustained its robust growth, up 19 percent, due to strong subscriber growth of ABS-CBN Global, translating to 1.7 million viewers worldwide by end-June 2005. Thus, net revenues went up 2 percent to R6.7 billion.

Operating expenses rose 9 percent to R6.1 billion on the back of higher cash expenses as production cost rose 10 percent to R2.1 billion due to the full year impact of new programming.

ABS-CBN president Luis Alejandro said the third quarter should be better than the second quarter as ratings have already stabilized when compared to ratings in April. He added that July airtime revenues were already higher than the same month last year.

He noted that Channel 2’s Mega Manila audience share for primetime has risen to 38 percent in July from 27 percent in April. Rival GMA-7 continues to lead with a 43 percent audience share.

Alejandro said the firm will continue with its three point program aimed at reducing costs and raising earnings until the end of the year. They will begin to assess the effectiveness of the program in October and decide if further steps are necessary.

The three-point program focuses on raising ratings for primetime which accounts for the bulk of airtime revenues, optimizing production units, and the reduction in general and administrative expenses.

I think it's time for ABS-CBN to start doing something different to beat 7. I quite agree that their decision to take out the Koreanovelas on primetime is correct. Anyway, I just hope ma sustain nila ang mga new shows nila. Look at Going Bulilit. It was a success because it was different. Ayun, balik "Wansapanatym" format ang "Mahiwagang Baul". Hello?! Ganun din yung Anghel na Walang Langit kaya nawindang ang Extra Challenge at di na nila alam kung saan time slot ilalagay. I think the current teleseryes have strong following naman. At saka, dapat mas pinapanood natin yung mga may local talents para naman mga Pilipino din ang kumita, lalo na sa hirap ng panahon ngayon. Seriously, bumababa ang dollar reserves natin sa kakabili ng rights sa mga Koreanovela. Don't get me wrong, gusto ko din sila lalo na kung maganda like Lovers in Paris, etc. Masyado lang ako na depress sa Memories of Bali. It was then I realized iba yata ang culture nila. Medyo weird. Anyway, kung magkaka koreanovela uli ang 2, sana nandun na si Paolo of MOB. :)

Well I do hope its an improvement for ABS, but Pinoy Big Brother's primer showed that it has no mass appeal a dissappointing rating of 19%.

Gulong ng Palad, Vietnam rose and Panday show no promise, no innovation on primetime.

The only thing I like is the Probe team, a great comeback but on thursday night against DEbate na ah...better have it in the morning.

I based my opinion on the things that shaped this medium.

Maybe im just frank and open minded. I have big hopes for Big brother of becoming a hit but unfortunately all indications point otherwise.

I think its about time for kapamilya to create innovative shows to be No.1 again.

And I mean innovative, Gulong ng Palad and Vietnam rose are not, Pinoy Big Brother is but fast becoming a reality boredom.
