you are very much correct...panoorin kung anong gusto at kung saan ka masaya..hindi naman mahalaga sa amin kung mababa ang ratings basta ang importante ay quality nung palabas..ang mahirap lang kase sa iba eh parang buhay na nila yung ratings....puro ratings!!!ratings!!!!ratings!!!!even pagbibilang ng commercials ginagawa haha.

DTI: No evidence of 'Wilyonaryo' cheating so far; Willie might be asked to testify

The Department of Trade and Industry committee investigating the "Wilyonaryo" incident on the August 20, 2007 episode of ABS-CBN's game show Wowowee clarified earlier reports, saying it has not concluded its probe on whether cheating actually occurred.

According to a report aired over ABS-CBN's TV Patrol World, the DTI's fact-finding committee said that it simply found "probable cause" to charge ABS-CBN for a possible violation of the Consumer Act.

The DTI committee clarified that the filing of administrative charges against the network is for possible violation of the Consumer Act and not because any cheating has been established.

Darating na ang LIGHTNING INA mo! Magsisimula sa Enero 26 (Sabado) sa ABS-CBN ang ser*yeng Volta, na pinagbibidahan ni Ai Ai de las Alas.
Sa pelikula apat na taon na ang nakararaan, single pa si Perla/Volta. Dito sa TV series, siya’y INA NA!
Napangasawa niya ang SHOKOT investigator na si Mark (Jayson Gainza) at nagkaroon sila ng dalawang anak, sina Salty (Dino Imperial) at Pepper (Nariel Pamintuan).
Itinago ni Perla ang kanyang secret identity para maging enemy-free ang kanyang family, kaso, may powers din pala ang mga anak niya.
Si Salty, malakas ang kuryente sa katawan, alter ego si 220.
Si Pepper, may lightning power na ay may strong smelling power pa, alter ego si 110.
Sa pagdating ng mga alien na Maskulado fa*mily, kasama ni Volta sa pakikipagtunggali sina 110 at 220.
Pero ano ba ang mas matimbang kay Volta? Ang puso ng isang ina, o ang puso ng isang lightning bida?

Ayon kay Direk Wenn V. Deramas, ang unang ikinunsidera na mapangasawa ni Volta ay si Sam Milby.

Ofori Amponsah and Samini to perform at Telenova Night

Ghanaian fans of Timeless, the Telenovela which airs on TV3, will see fantasy turn to reality as the National Theatre in Accra hosts some of the top stars of the Asian soap opera on January 27.

Lovers of the Telenovela are expected to troop to the National Theatre to see live on stage Jericho Rosales, who plays Christian in Timeless, among others as he renders a sizzling and thrilling musical performance to his fans.

According to a press statement issued in Accra, Jericho, who has starred in numerous movies and pursued his music career with bands like The Hunks and Jeans, is set to come down with Kristine Hermosa (Ara) and Angelika Dela Cruz (Mary Ann), both co-stars in Timeless, for the concert which will also feature performances by Ghanaian award winners, Samini and Ofori Amponsah.

The visit to Ghana by the 28 year old Timeless and The Promise star from the Philippines is a way of expressing his gratitude for the love and support from his fan-base in Africa including Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya and Cameroon.

This first time musical concert would not only bring Telenovela lovers and their favourite stars in a face to face encounter but would also offer Timeless fans the chance to win free tickets to the concert, Jericho’s music CDs and invitation to an after party on Sunday by texting the word “Ticket, CD or Invitation” to One Touch short code 1945 from now till January 22.

After exiting the Big Brother house, todo ratsada ang Mariel Rodriguez sa pagtratrabaho…. Balik siya ng Wowowee bilang isa sa mga co-host ni Willie Revillame kasama sina Valerie Concepcion, Pokwang at Precious Lara Quigaman. Naghahanda na din siya sa pagbalik niya bilang isa sa original hosts of Entertainment Live and she is currently preparing for a new soap opera, a stint in Love Spell and back to hosting Big Brother, Teen Edition.

"I really love my work," says Mariel. "Minsan nga, ilang oras lang ang tulog ko sa isang araw or sometimes, I don’t get to sleep at all but I don’t care. I really love what I do."

Nangyari ba ito lahat dahil mas madaming nakakilala sa kanya dahil sa pag-stay niya inside the Big Brother house? "Maybe I got to reach out to a wider audience because of the popularity of the show and that they saw a different side of me," explains Mariel. "They saw the realistic side and although not everyone got aliw with what I did, there are a number who appreciated what I did inside the house."

Mariel says she still remains friends with all the housemates, even with Riza whom she personally apologized for her nasty remarks. She even approached the parents of the Canadian housemate para mag-apologize ng personal. "They’re very nice people and they understood what happened. That’s all that matters to me. Riza, too," Mariel says.

Speaking of housemates, may konting pakipot factor ang Mariel when asked about Jon Avila and Zanjoe Marudo. Chika lang niya is that both are her friends.

Pero may nag-reveal sa amin na confused na ang dalaga sa pagpili between Jon and Zanjoe…. Case in point? While lumabas sila Jon and Mariel last Friday night, magkasama naman the next night si Mariel and Zanjoe but on a group date with some of Mariel’s friends in Rockwell.

Reacting to the AGB Nielsen report, ABS-CBN, in a statement issued to PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) this morning, disputed the content of the data and its logic.

"ABS-CBN was the one who initiated the move to clean up the TV ratings system. It does not make sense for us to call for this clean up, if we ourselves have done anything intentionally to infiltrate the panel homes of AGB Nielsen Media Research."

The Lopez-owned network challenged AGB Nielsen to present valid proof and back up its claim before the network takes necessary steps to address the issue.

"We understand that our questions have affected AGB-NMR's operations," acknowledged ABS-CBN, "but we urge them to show proof and we will investigate. We do not condone any actions that would affect the credibility of the ratings."

i dont visit pep.ph anymore...i find the site too biased sa kas*so...at nakakainis pa, they're claiming hindi sila gme affiliated pero looking at their homepage...its screaming kas*so all over... naiinis din ako sa mga icons/pics na ginagamit nila... gma's logo is always on top of agb/abs logo... kahit na abs vs agb ung topic, nasa ilalim ng agb ang abs... heller, sa alphabetical arrangement, the word abs will always come first before agb or gma...hehehe mejo mababaw pero i believe may hidden something sa kanila...hehehe halatang may pinapanigan...

Eugene Domingo received the most number of questions from the press last January 16 during the media junket for the TV series Volta at the 9501 restaurant in the ABS-CBN compound.

The comedienne was asked how she felt after winning the Best Supporting Actress Award in the 2007 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) for her role in Bahay Kubo.

"Alam mo, minsan matapos ko lang ang isang araw na napasaya ko yung director, yung writer nakakausap mo ng tama, 'tapos pareho kayo ng way of thinking, happy na ako doon, nananalo na ako doon," Eugene told PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal).

She added, "Pero yung recognition is really very important kasi mas nakaka-inspire, na tama pala yung ginagawa mo."

Eugene was blessed with many projects last year. She did a total of nine movies: The Promise, Paano Kita Iibigin; Apat Dapat, Dapat Apat; Pasukob, Katas ng Saudi, Foster Child, Pisay; Shake, Rattle, And Roll, and Bahay Kubo. In television, she was seen in Kokey, Palimos ng Pag-ibig, and in two episodes of the weekly show Love Spell.

Is Eugene expecting a similar hectic schedule this year?

"Siguro hindi na ganung ka-hectic," answered Eugene. "Siguro parang ipe-pace mo na, may pacing kasi iisipin mo, ‘Ah, ito hindi ko pa nagawa.' Yung ganun. Mas challenging sana at saka yung, ‘Ah, ito, ito naman. Yung ang saya, ang sarap lang mag-enjoy, ang sarap katrabaho nitong mga 'to.'"

She added, "Actually, ganun naman ako mag-isip. Nagkataon lang last year, sabay-sabay gusto ko. Gusto ko yung mga nakakatrabaho ko."

Did she feel any changes in her career after winning an acting award?

"Ganun pa rin, wala namang nagbago sa akin," she replied. "It is an important thing because it is a recognition, pero hindi mo dapat 'yon ilagay sa ulo mo 'tapos iisipin natin, ‘Academy Award-winner ako." Academy talaga! Ano ba 'yan? Di naman ganun."

TRYING OUT NEW ROLES. Although Eugene is more popular as a comedienne, she mentioned to PEP that she also play different roles in theater and independent films.

The actress said that she's always open to the idea of trying out new roles in her projects.

"Kaya nga every now and then, I see to it na I accept projects from Cinemalaya. Hindi ko naman sinasabi na mas may katuturan yung sa kanila, kundi dahil ang mga roles parang hindi masyadong limited. Kasi hindi sila [independent films] masyadong ano, parang kung saan ka na-typecast yun na lang. Somehow may nakikita sila na puwede mong gampanan, so I grab that chance all the time," explained Eugene.

When asked about her dream role, Eugene answered, "For commercial projects, I like the role played by Bette Midler during her time. For indies or serious projects, sana parang yung roles ni—huwag na tayong lumayo kasi meron di naman tayong genius actors dito—Nora Aunor. Kailangan nating ipagmalaki yun. So yung mga ganung ka-varied na roles."

She then added, "Pero kung talagang mabigyan ka ng chance na i-pursue ang pagiging komedyante, ang sarap maging Dolphy, e."

JOINING THE "DESPERADAS." During the press conference, a member of the press said that Eugene might be included in the sequel of Desperadas, another entry in 2007 MMFF.

But Eugene said, "Narinig ko rin pero wala namang nagsasabi sa akin." However, if the rumor is true, Eugene would be glad to work with the "desperadas": Ruffa Gutierrez, Rufa Mae Quinto, Iza Calzado, and Marian Rivera.

"Sa tingin ko, desperada talaga ako na ma-level doon!" said in jest. Then, the actress became serious when she said, "Ay, enjoy yun, enjoy yun kay Direk Joel [Lamangan], si Ruffa Gutierrez, Rufa Mae, Marian, and Iza. Kilala ko sila, e."

NIKKI ON DISNEY CHANNEL

CONGRATS to Nikki Gil, one of the regular host-singers of “ASAP.” The other year, she was chosen to sing the Asian version of one of the hit songs in the movie “High School Musical”. Last year, the movie had a sequel and some of its songs are now being recorded for an Asian version. Nikki feels very lucky as she was once again chosen to sing one of the songs in the sequel, including its music video. And not only that. Last time, she’s one of three Asian girls in the song she did. Now, she has gone solo, which means the Disney people really appreciated her first performance. Nikki is singing “Gotta Go My Own Way” and it’s now being shown in the Disney Channel, including the scenes involved in the making of the music video. It has entered the Top Ten in 20 Pinoy Weekly Countdown of the MYX Channel. Disney Channel Asia just called up Nikki to say that her music video is now also being shown in the U.S., which means she has gone international. We hope this opens more doors for the very talented young singer-actress.

No more sequel for ‘Sakal’

MANILA, Philippines - My fun colleague Eric John Salut, who’s based in the US, sent me a pic of Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo taken at the Los Angeles airport last Jan. 11. They flew there for the LA premier of their hit movie “Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo.”

Juday and Ryan excelled in their roles as husband and wife in the film. It’s a foretaste of married life for them. Art imitating (their) heart?

Speaking of “SSS,” Direk Joey Reyes told me there wouldn’t be any more sequels to the MMFF top-grosser. “I want to do other stuff. If Star Cinema decides to do another sequel, somebody else will have to write and direct it.”

Perhaps Direk feels the movie has run its full course and the logical sequel should be Juday and Ryan’s much anticipated wedding.

She’s currently shooting "Caregiver" for Star Cinema. The film presents a very timely story about a Filipina caregiver who is caught between her responsibility to her family back home and the patient she takes care of in a foreign land.

When the actress read the script of the project, she said yes right away. According to Sharon, what endeared her to the project was the fact that it would be meaning ful to overseas Filipino workers, the very group of people whose lives she wants to uplift.

Being the wife of Sen. Francis Pangilinan, Sharon is bent on pursuing causes for the working classes.

However, the actress clarified that for now she would rather help OFWs in her capacity as a movie star and citizen, instead of going into politics herself.

She's no stranger to politics, after all, having grown up as the daughter of Pablo Cuneta, the longtime mayor of Pasay City.

Sharon said that for now she would rather stay behind the scenes when it comes to politics, letting her senator husband be the one in the thick of things.

"I have no time for politics. I think it’s not my cup of tea," she said.

And while she does her share of socio-civic activities, she never likes to have them publicized -- except in projects where she's sponsoring budding musical talents.

Sharon said that her being a singer herself is a lifetime commitment to the arts, including helping other talents who also want to make it in the business.

While "Caregiver" is a family drama, it also tackles important issues affecting overseas Filipino workers and how government can protect their welfare.

Sharon and the rest of the cast and crew of "Caregiver" will soon fly to London and other parts of Europe, where many Filipino caregivers are working, in order to shoot scenes for the film.

Balik-teleserye ang aktres na si Claudine Barretto pagkatapos niyang isilang ang anak nila ni Raymart Santiago na si Santino. Si Claudine ang bida sa horror series na Maligno, kung saan gagampanan niya ang papel na una nang ginawa ng Queen of Philippine Movies na si Ms. Susan Rocess. Makakatambal dito ni Claudine si Diether Ocampo.

Happy si Claudine na muli siyang umaarte sa harap ng kamera.

"Feeling ko, ang tagal-tagal kong nawala. This is my work. This is my life. Masaya ako na mayroon ulit akong show na alam kong susubaybayan ng mga tao. Iba talaga ang horror sa drama. I really say that I live up to expectations of Ms. Susan Rocess," sabi ni Claudine sa panayam sa kanya ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal).

Sa pagbabalik-telebisyon ni Claudine ay suportado naman siya ng kanyang mister na si Raymart. Bilang suporta ay laging dinadala ng aktor ang dalawang anak nila ni Claudine kapag binibisita niya ito sa taping ng Maligno.

"He brought the kids along para hindi ako ma-homesick at hindi ko sila masyadong ma-miss," sambit ng nagbabalik na aktres.

Maliban sa kanyang bagong project, masaya rin si Claudine dahil sa ilan pang blessings na natanggap niya.

"On the second week of December, we got the paper, the decision from the court na Sabina [her adopted daughter] is no longer a Barretto but a Santiago already. It's the first Christmas that is with us. And my sister [Gretchen] came home," masayang pahayag ni Claudine.

Ibinalita rin ni Claudine na tuloy-tuloy na ang lagi nilang pagkikita at pagsasama ng dating nakaalitang nakatatandang kapatid na si Gretchen.

"Kami—Gretch, Marj, ako at Gia—we had the chance to spend time together having late lunch, late meryenda, ganyan, kuwentuhan," sambit niya.

Ano naman ang naging reaction niya sa mga matitinding kontrobersiyang kinasangkutan ni Gretchen?

"Funny, kasi kung kailan lumalabas yung mga ganyang intriga, namamatay agad kasi wala namang katotohanan," sagot ni Claudine.

Ang huling proyekto ni Claudine bago siya manganak ay ang Walang Kapalit, kung saan nakatambal niya si Piolo Pascual.

May plano ang Star Cinema na gumawa ng bagong sequel ng KKK, kaso nga lang di na si Direk Joey ang direktor. May bago kasi siyang gagawing pelikula sa ibang Movie Company.

Pero sang ayun ako kay Direk Joey, di na ganun ka-exciting ang susunod na gagawing sequel.
Gawa na lang sila ng Horror-Suspense Movie ngayong 2008 mmff ;)

sorry pero i disagree... jon's quite good an actor for a beginner. i watched jon avila act before, and i can say he can act... once he was kontrabida in your song, kaya nya sabayan si sam milby. he was actually scary when he yelled. tapos sa indie movie na nars (with jodi santamaria and agot isidro), he's very convincing naman... about mariel, maarte sya. so umarte? baka kaya nya... hahaha...

i hope it's not true na ipasok sina mariel and jon sa mskm2. kung gusto nila bigyan silang dalawa ng show to test their on screen chemisty, why not give them an episodic show like mmk, your song, lovespell? pwede naman diyan di ba? huwag lang biglang isulpot sa isang drama, magugulo lang ang original story nito. sayang naman!

naman akong namimiss.. and it's a brainer show.. you won't watch it just to

relax but you have to listen each crispy lines, watch the sequence of the

story, be retentive of the past scenes where you can figure out why the

scene you're watching is happening.... whew I simply love this show... kaya

please... naestablish na sa akin at nasundan ko na lahat ng characters..at

masyado silang marami... kaya sana wag na sila isingit sa MSKM2... wag nilang

babuyin ang soap... kung kikay girl ang magiging ganap ni Mariel, nandoon na

si Toni... sa tisoy na hirap magtagalog... nandoon na si Sam.. kaya please

lang wag na sila isali.. kahit nakakalungkot na sooner or later.. Anne will be

out of MSKM... but atleast justified ang pag-alis niya hindi yung out of the

Hindi raw kaya ng double niya ang flying scenes sa Volta kaya si Ai Ai de las Alas na rin mismo ang gumagawa ng mga deli-kadong eksenang ito.

“Nakakatawa ‘di ba? Ako ang gumagawa ng flying scenes ko kasi hindi kinaya ng double ko ang mga eksena sa paglipad” kuwento ng co-medy concert queen sa presscon ng Volta, ang bagong series niya sa ABS-CBN.

Umabot daw sa 60 feet ang taas ng pagbitin sa kanya sa ere. Kaya para huwag malula, hindi raw siya tumitingin sa ibaba. Halos kasing taas na raw kasi niya ang mga building sa paligid niya.

Aminado naman si Ai Ai na sobra ang nerbiyos niya sa flying scenes kaya naman panay ang kanyang dasal. Tinitiyak din niya na maayos ang pag-kakabit ng harness to ensure her safety.

Ginagawa pa lang nila ni Direk Wenn Deramas at Ai Ai ang Volta: The Movie ay pangarap na talaga ni-la ni Direk Wenn na sana ay maging TV series ito. Heto nga at natupad na ang wish nilang dalawa.

Matapos din ang ilang buwan na ‘pamamahinga’ (matagal kasing walang trabaho si Ai Ai sa ABS-CBN), finally bumabawi ang comedy concert queen at box-office star ng Ang Tanging Ina dahil muling mapapanood ang beauty niya sa telebisyon. Halu-halong comedy at action, pati na rin drama, itong Volta dahil it touches on the value of family

Iba na rin ang kuwento ng Volta this time, kasi may family na si Perla (ang alter ego ni Volta). May asawa na siya (played by Jayson Gainza) at dalawang anak, Dino Imperial at Mariel Pamintuan.

Happy si Chocoleit dahil kasama siya sa cast ng Volta, ang TV version ng blockbuster movie na pinagbidahan ni Ai Ai delas Alas four years ago at nga-yon ay isinalin sa telebis-yon ng ABS-CBN.

Ito ang unang project ni Chocoleit for 2008 at ma-saya ang bading dahil ka-level na niya sina Ai Ai at Eugene Domingo na, tulad niya, ay kasali rin sa mo- vie version.

“Happy ako na kasama ako sa movie tapos na-retain pa ako sa TV version. Tapos kuwela pa ‘yung plugging nila na joketime trio kami nina Ai Ai at Eugene. Aba, sino na-man ang hindi matutuwa roon,” sabi ng stand-up co-median na nakilala rin sa karakter na Pearly Shells sa seryeng Marina.

“Natuwa talaga ako na isinama ako sa joketime trio with Ai Ai and Eugene kasi ibig sabihin, kinukunsider ta-laga nila akong komedyante,” sabi pa niya.

Para raw makasama sa liga nina Ai Ai at Eugene, ibig sabihin ay kinilala na siyang epektibong komed-yante.

Reunion project ito ni-na Chocoleit at Direk Wenn Deramas sa TV. Ang una nilang pagsasama ay sa Kampanerang Kuba maliban sa kanyang guest role sa hit comedy film ni Wenn na Pasukob last year.

Bukod sa pagiging re-gular host sa comedy bars, Laffline at Punchline, may naka-line up ding shows si Chocoleit sa Australia pa-ra sa TFC subscribers.

Actually kung ako ang tatanungin, hindi na dapat bigyan masyado ng pansin ang mga ratings-ratings na yan. Ang hindi lang naman katanggap-tanggap sa isyung yan e kaya naman pala nakaka-ungos ang iba e dahil may mga sinisindikato sila. O sige na nga, granting na no.1 ang GMA. E bakit wala silang artista na no.1. Bakit kung namamasyal ka ang maririnig mong kwentuhang madalas ng mga tao na pinunuod nila e yung mga teleserye sa Dos. E bakit wala silang magandang artista? While everyone knows it was a star-studded line up of witnesses (Angel Locsin, Rica Peralejo, Cristy Fermin and Pokwang are those among who testified in favor of Piolo and Sam), the heartthrobs are hell bent on pursuing their case on Lolit Solis who wrote in her column that she saw them lounging in the poolside of some hotel.

In that hearing, hindi sumipot si Lolit Solis. But her lawyer was present and even revealed her strategy the next time they go to court: “We’re still studying whether we would be presenting witnesses for the next setting. Our client has a valid defense so we’ll see.”

Meanwhile, in Lolit Solis’ program, she announced na kung talagang hangad nina Piolo at Sam patawarin siya, she is ready to retract provided they file a motion of desistance to no longer continue the case if she does… plus she won’t be charged with perjury.

But Atty. Joji Alonzo, legal counsel of Piolo and Sam says: “If you lie under oath, you will be held liable for perjury. Two Korean movie production outfits choose the busy streets of Manila and beach of Boracay ..

MANILA- Two Korean movie production outfits have chosen the busy streets of Manila, the pristine beaches of Boracay Island in Aklan and the scenic Pagsanjan Falls in Laguna to serve as backdrops for the romantic comedy they are filming here, Department of Tourism secretary Joseph Ace Durano has announced.

The crew of DRM Entertainment Co. Ltd. and Story Factory, producers of the romantic comedy "Feel So Good", has been at work in the country since Jan. 9, Durano told Korean and Filipino entertainment writers in a press conference last week. Shooting wraps up on Feb. 23, he added.

For this particular production, the DOT is helping the Korean group obtain permits and other logistical requirements for the location shoots. It is also tapping local talent for additional assistance, said Durano.

The producers considered getting Angelika Panganiban, Michelle Madrigal and Marian Rivera to play some parts in the movie, said Maricon Basco-Ebron, Philippine tourism director and attache to Korea. However, initial talks with the actors' handlers fell through.

"The exposure we will get from this film is worth a thousand times the amount we are spending to accommodate them here",Durano pointed out. "As much as possible, we want to portray the country as it is with beautiful destinations, warm and friendly people but also as a developing country that has its own challenges".

Department policy

Durano said it was part of DOT policy to go through the script before it supports any movie project. "The overall theme of this movie, which is love for self and country, is something the Philippines itself can stand for",he explained.

"Feels So Good": is about six strangers who fly to the Philippines hoping to escape their troubles, unaware of what love has in store for them once they land on Boracay Island.

The movie's lead actors, Yoo-jin (popularly known as Eugene) and Lee Min-ki, were present at the press conference. Kim, who speaks better English compared to the other members of the entourage, said she was excited to be back in the country.

In 2006, the DOT appointed Kim, star of the Korean hit TV series "Save the Last Dance" and "Wonderful Life", to be the face of Philippine tourism in Korea. As DOT spokesperson, Kim was in the Philippines twice in 2006, visiting key cities like Manila, Cebu, Bohol and Boracay.

The 26-year-old Yoo-jin is one of the widest-sought celebrities in Korea. She was a member of the now-defunct Korean pop group "S.E.S".and was also seen in the drama series "Loving You" and "Really Really Like You".

Lee, a first-time Philippine visitor, said he had heard of the beautiful beaches in Boracay but did not know it was in the Philippines until he arrived here last week. Lee was last seen in the Korean TV series "Dalja's Spring", opposite Chae Rim and in the movie "A Good Day to Have an Affair".

DRM Entertainments executive Jung Sub-lee first came to the Philippines five years ago when he accompanied his father on a business trip.

"I met a lot of good people", he said through an interpreter. "Many offered their countries for this film, but I was dead set on making it here".

The director, Kang Cheol-woo, is the winner of Best Short Film trophies from the 15th Pusan Short Film Festival (now Pusan Asian Short Film Festival) and the 1997 Seoul Independent Film Festival. He was a member of the production team of Lee Jeong-kook's "Promenade "and worked as a sequence director of a segment titled "Restaurant" in Kim Ki-duk's "Real Fiction". (Philippine Daily Inquirer)

A new year signifies change for every individual, especially to a man who has portrayed several characters in his career. As his first teleserye concludes on his birthday month, Vhong Navarro is very excited for his next role and the new challenges coming his way in 2008.

2007 was a good year for Vhong Navarro. A truckload of blessings came his way as he was able to immortalize two legendary characters in Philippine pop culture in one year. The first was the comedy film Agent X44, which reaped success in theaters. we are very much aware of the importance of ratings for networks and advertisers...its true na kikita ang network kung mahaba ang primetime that is kung puro paying advertisements ang pinapakita and not in-house promos...so paano nga kung madalas pa ring ipakita yung GMA's advertisement ek ek regarding tampering of ratings instead na regular commercials?Kumita ba sila?May sponsor ba sila dun?

pero bakit ganun? 8pm na natatapos ang TV Patrol, 10:45pm Bandila na. Tamang tama lang. Eh bakit sa GMA, 11:20 na natatapos ang Coffee Prince nila? Hindi itinatapat ng GMA ng direkta mga palabas nila sa Dos. Kung number one ka, dapat confident ka kahit ano itapat sa yo ng kalaban diba?

NAGBIGAY ng ilang updates ang ABS-CBN about the issue of TV ratings sa pamamagitan ng isang presscon yesterday. Sina-got din ng Dos ang mga alegasyon ng GMA-7 tungkol sa cable ratings.

Read on: maaaring mapanood sa mas malinaw na TV reception ang inaabangang pagsisimula ng pinalakas na ABS-CBN Primetime Bida ngayong Lunes sa pamamagitan lamang ng mga paraang tulad ng paglalagay ng Baron antennas o paghahanap ng Dos sa mga piling UHF channels.

Ito ang pahayag ng ABS-CBN Head of Research and Business Analysis na si Vivian Tin hinggil sa reception problems sa Metro Manila at ilang bahagi ng Central Luzon.

Ipinaliwanag nito na ang low-band channels na nagsisimula sa 2 hanggang 6 ay may mababang frequency na madaling maapektuhan ng mga “noise” o balakid sa reception tulad ng paggamit ng kur-yente at ilang telecommunications activities.

Lalo pang lumalakas ang mga “noise” na ito dala ng patuloy na pagtaas ng antas ng urbanisasyon kaya naman mas nagiging malabo o “snowy” ng pinapanood sa TV.

Dagdag pa rito ay ang iba pang mga uri ng interference tulad ng hangin at ulan.

Kaya naman nagsagawa ang ABS-CBN ng communications campaign na nagpo-promote ng tamang antennas tulad ng Baron at nagpakilala ng UHF channels sa ilang areas kung saan madalas apektado ang reception.

Sa kasalukuyan, ang ABS-CBN ay mapapanood sa UHF sa mga lugar tulad ng San Miguel at San Ildefonso, Bulacan (Channel 34), San Fernando, Pampanga (Channel 46) at sa Nueva Ecija at Tarlac (Channel 32).

Idinagdag din ni Tin na isa pa sa posibleng solus-yon ay ang paggamit ng Digital TV na ilulunsad ngayong taon, at ng nakagawiang cable TV.

Hindi lingid sa nakararami na pinupunterya kamakailan ng intriga ang Cable TV ratings kaugnay na rin sa di pa rin nalulutas na TV ratings issue, kaya naman nagsalita na rin si Tin, kasama ang ABS-CBN Head of Corporate Communications na si Bong Osorio at Chief Legal Counsel Atty. Maxim Uy hinggil sa issue sa isang press conference na ginanap kamakai-lan.

Iginiit ng ABS-CBN na hindi issue ang pagkakaiba sa ratings ng cable at non-cable TV bagkus, ang korupsyon ng mga panel homes ng AGB Nielsen Media Research Philippines ang dapat pagtuunan ng pansin.

“Ang pagkakaroon ng cable ay nakakabawas o nakakalayo sa mga sinasabi nating ‘noise’ na maaring makasagabal sa reception. Kapansin pansin naman talaga na mas malinaw ang mga free TV channels (kabilang ang ABS-CBN) kumpara sa nauna. Sa pa-mamagitan ng cable, mas nagiging patas ang labanan sa lahat ng channel dahil lahat sila ay malinaw na napapanood,” paliwanag ni Tin.

Mapangahas ding sinabi ni Tin na ang malisyosong reklamo ng kabilang network sa cable TV ratings ay pawang kathang-isip lang, di tulad ng inihaing reklamo ng ABS-CBN tungkol sa korupsyon ng AGB-NMR panel homes kung saan may mga sinumpaang salaysay mula sa mismong testigo at panel home members.

“Ang isyu sa korupsyon ay totoo. May mga testigo kami na magpapatunay kung paano hinanap ng isang network ang panel homes at sinuhulan para panoorin ang kanilang mga programa,” sabi ni Tin.

Sinimulan ng ABS-CBN ang laban para sa malinis na TV ratings process nang magsampa ito ng civil case laban sa AGB-NMR noong Disyembre 2007 matapos tumanggi ng research agency na huminto sa paglalabas ng TV ratings, bagamat alam nilang ang kanilang panels ay napanghimasukan ng isang organized, well-funded at systematic na tangkang pandaraya.

Kamakailan ay naghain ang ABS-CBN ng motion for reconsideration sa Q.C. regional trial court sa kasong nauna ng nag-dismiss dahil sa “premature”na pagkakasampa nito.

Patuloy naman na naninindigan ang network na ang naganap ay hindi isang uri ng data error, kung hindi isang uri ng pandaraya, isang issue na hindi saklaw sa probisyon na dapat ayusin muna ng dalawang kampo ang anumang reklamo o problema sa loob ng 90 days.

nakikinig ako sa eradio portal kahapon.. tapos ewan ko kung anong station yun nakalimutan ko na.. na nagpapaliwanag ata dun sa issue dun sa agb,, parang ganito ang sabi... 5 years na daw kasi silang nagrereklamo sa agb dati, tungkol nga dun sa rating kasi daw nakapagtataka daw na bakit ang taas ng rating ng abs-cbn sa mga bahay sa mega manila na may cable. eh samantalang mataas naman daw ang rationgs ng gma sa bahay na walang cable...tapos meron pa eh about dun sa sky cable nakalimutan ko na yung sinabi niya.. basta sabi namimigay daw ang abs ng 300 pesos at groceries(nakalimutan ko na din kung saan yung tinukoy nila)

tanong ko lang.....hindi kaya nila naisip na mahina ang reception ng abs sa ibang mga kabahayan sa manila? kaya siguro mataas angf ratings ng abs dun sa mga may cable lang ? saka hindi naman makakapag pa cable ang isang tao kung wala silang pera noh.. ?

tanong ko lang.....hindi kaya nila naisip na mahina ang reception ng abs sa ibang mga kabahayan sa manila? kaya siguro mataas angf ratings ng abs dun sa mga may cable lang ? saka hindi naman makakapag pa cable ang isang tao kung wala silang pera noh.. ?
this is the case in our house...the main reason we subscribed to Sky is because of poor reception of ABS...so bakit pa kami manonood sa GME eh may cable na nga at malinaw na ang ABS?

hehe oo nga eh , eh yun ang kinakatwiran nila... na matagal na daw nilang inirereklamo sa agb.. (baka kaya hindi pinapansin dati) kasi napaka daling masagot nung tanong nila

sus ngayon na lang nila ulit binuhay yung reklamo na yan nung nagfile ng kaso ang ABS sa AGB..dapat kung 5years ago pala ay may problema sila sa cable ratings pinukpok nila ng reklamo ang AGB....hindi dapat nila tinigilan ang AGB or nagbayad sila ng ibang survey company para masagot ng maayos ang mga tanong nila.

THE press launch of the teleserye people are waiting for was done in grand fashion inside the Studio 1 of ABS-CBN.

From the buffet table, the intricate arrangement alone can tell that something bigger inside the studio was going to happen. We were right. ABS-CBN’s Studio 1 was made to look like a replica of a forested area where some of the scenes were shot.

Though a bit late (they started taping for the series July of last year yet), it was worth the long wait. Really, “Lobo” will be a big event in the teleserye history.
The time has finally come to watch Angel Locsin, the female lead, to show what she’s got in terms of acting. In fairness to Angel, she didn’t speak ill of anyone from her former mother studio, co-stars included, for the sake of good karma.

The EVP explained why it took the production people to finally show the much-publicized teleserye which has Piolo Pascual as leading man.

They put all their efforts in the entire production and presumed that the talent of other actors, Pilar Pilapil, Dante Rivero, Shaina Magdayao, Diether Ocampo, Jacob Dionisio, Bobby Andrews, Robert Arevalo, Gabby Eigenmann and Agot Isidro weren’t wasted. Adding prestige during the presscon was concert king Martin Nievera who sang the theme song.

Sagot ng GMA Network sa ‘mapanlinlang’ na pahayag ng ABS-CBN sa kanilang pa-presscon
CONTRARY to what ABS-CBN said in its statement to the press last Jan. 24, the disparity between cable and non-cable ratings in GMA’s programs is a legitimate issue in the move to clean up the ratings survey.

Since 2003, GMA Network has been complaining to AGB Nielsen why the ratings of GMA Network’s programs are so low in cable TV households but so high in non-cable TV homes, a situation that does not happen in ABS-CBN’s programs.

It is to be noted that when GMA Network was not a strong competitor of ABS-CBN, the cable and non-cable ratings of both GMA and ABS-CBN consistently exhibited a normal behavior in the past.

The abnormal ratings behavior of GMA’s programs in cable TV homes started to happen only when GMA Network began to compete head-on with its rival station five years ago and when GMA Network began to beat ABS-CBN in Mega Manila TV ratings. At that time, AGB and Nielsen were providing separate ratings for TV programs. And the cable ratings disparity happened only in the AGB results and not in Nielsen’s. In 2005, AGB and Nielsen merged their TV ratings services in the Philippines.

ABS-CBN said in its official position paper that it presented to the trade in 2006 that the reason for their high cable ratings was that “among cable homes, the connection through cable takes away the vulnerability of ABS-CBN’s reception from noise, especially in instances when ABS-CBN is assigned to a channel 8.”

ABS-CBN was referring to the movement of their cable channel assignment from channel 6 to 8. GMA Network consulted with a third party technical expert to seek his opinion on that claim and the following was what he said:

* No VHF (Very High Frequency) be it low, mid, or high-band is immune or not susceptible to interference, thus making it imperative for the cable industry in the present to undergo a study to ascertain that a channel is ‘clean’ enough to be operated in.

* Engineering surveys conducted have also yielded that interference varies in different portions of Metro Manila. It is on the Cable provider’s shoulders to limit amplifier cascades to attain a decent carrier to noise ratio resulting in better picture quality.

* In summary, the Cable television provider and its engineers are the ones responsible in seeing to it that a specific Cable television channel is clean enough for a commercial TVstation to operate in, thus making everyone operate on a level playing field. ABS-CBN did not reply to the rebuttal made by the expert consulted by GMA Network. After a long silence, ABS-CBN now says that the disparity between cable and non-cable ratings is due to their reception problems on Free TV and that these problems are eliminated on cable TV where their signal is clear. GMA Network believes that the highly erratic or fluctuating behavior of ABS-CBN’s cable ratings, particularly in the suburbs, cannot be logically attributed to their clear cable TV signal.

It is not true that GMA’s complaints of interference in cable TV have no basis because GMA has received thousands of complaints of signal distortion and degradation from Sky and Home Cable subscribers who have executed affidavits. The complaints ranged from snowy and/or blurry to black and white reception; wavy/shadowy image; zigzag/moving/diagonal/vertical/horizontal lines; noisy/distorted video; weak audio; and weak or no signal. These complaints prompted GMA Network to file a case before the NTC, where it is now pending.

It is a fact that GMA Network’s competitor owns and/or controls the dominant cable operators in the country. Thus, it is the one who has both the means and opportunity to know where the people meters are installed by AGB Nielsen among cable TV homes.

She had a meeting with Malou Santos of Star Cinema and Annabelle
Regalado of Star Records.

Gretchen is set to record an album for Star Records. She's also set to
do a soap opera for

ABS-CBN although she declined to give details since the project has
yet to be finalized.

Gretchen looked radiant in her white dress as she emerged from the
meeting with the two

executives from Star Cinema and Star Records, respectively.
When asked to say

something about the projects that she's set to do for ABS-CBN,
Gretchen demurred and pointed

to Malou who said that there are still on the lookout for a leading man.

The partner of Tony Boy Cojuangco was last seen in the movie "Matakot
Ka Sa Karma" shown in

the 2006 Metro Manila Film Festival. She would have been in the cast
of the hit movie

"Desparadas" but changes in the cast had to be made.

NAGKITA at nagkausap sina Richard Gutierrez at Angel Locsin sa Cebu last week. Ang Pista ng Sto. Niño ang dahilan ng presence ng dating magkapareha sa GMA show and movies.

Wala naman daw isnabang naganap sa da*ting magkapareha ayon sa aming source, kahit na nga naghiwalay na sila ng network.

Ang hindi lang daw nagustuhan ng aming source, matapos yakapin ni Angel ang dati niyang executive producer sa GMA shows niya at sinabing miss na niya ang mga ito, may ibinulong ito kay Richard.

Naku, hayan na naman ‘yang mga bulung-bulong na ‘yan, ‘no!

“Binibenta kita sa kabila,” bulong daw ni Angel kay Richard. Nangiti lang daw ang aktor sa tinuran ng dating kapareha.

Of course, denial ang kasunod tiyak ng sinulat naming ito kapag nabasa ni Angel o ng kampo niya. Basta, galing ito sa aming source na nakasaksi at nakaalam sa ibinulong niya kay Richard, huh!

Tinanong din daw ni Tita Annabelle Rama si Angel kung bakit laging namu-move ang airing ng series nila ni Piolo Pascual sa Channel 2.

Anyway, ngayong gabi sa Kamandag, masasaksihan ni Talim (Mark Anthony Fernandez) ang halikan nina Jenny (Jewel Mische) at Kamandag matapos mailigtas ng huli ang dalaga sa mortal niyang kalaban.

Dahil sa pangyayari, unti-unti nang nahuhulog ang loob ni Jenny kay Kamandag. Samantala, nagalit si Haring Budog (Johnny Delgado) kay Agol.

Ilan lang ‘yan sa eksenang dapat abangan tonight sa Kamandag after Zaido sa Channel 7.
