The 2007 Miss Earth pageant will be held tomorrow night, Nov. 11, at the UP Theater, to be aired by ABS-CBN starting at 9 o’clock (with a delayed telecast in Starworld Asia), with 88 beauties in competition, making the contest the biggest in terms of number.

As usual, Funfare’s “beauty experts” Felix Manuel, Joey Cezeare, Gery Yumping and Francis Calubaquib are reminding beauty-contest enthusiasts to play the spectator sport called “picking out the lookalikes” — you know, several candidates are deadringers for showbiz stars and former beauty queens, including Nancy Castiglione, Collette Centeno, Carla Humphries, Ana Roces, Snooky Serna, Joey Mead, Elizabeth Oropesa, Rachel Anne Go, Dawn Zulueta, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Jenny Syquia, Mariah Carey, Beyoncé Knowles, Elizabeth Hurley, Eva Mendes, Rachel Weisz, Marcia Cross, Jennifer Lopez, Minnie Driver, Anna Kournikova, Nicole Kidman, Britney Spears, Priscilla Meirelles (Miss Earth 2004), Lupita Jones (1991 Miss Universe) and Natalie Glebova (2005 Miss Universe).

‘Banyera,’ in-extend

Nagre-react ang production team ng Prinsesa ng Banyera sa naglalabasang tsika na tatapusin na ang nasabing teleseryeng pinagbibidahan nina Kristine Hermosa at Angelika dela Cruz at ipapalit ang Parekoy ni John Prats.

Ayon sa production, maganda ang feedback sa serye, hindi lamang sa viewers, kundi maging sa advertisers dahil lagi itong almost full load in terms of commercial.

In fact, in the works na nga ang next season ng teleserye at extended indefinitely.

“The creative team has also reserved stories that can go as long as half a year if necessary,” say pa ng production staff.

While it’s true na initially ay 13 weeks lang ang plano for Prinsesa ng Banyera, dahil nga maganda ang feedback ay nagkaroon ito ng extension.

Ayon naman sa corporate staff, marami ang nagre-request na ilipat ito sa primetime slot at sa kasalukuyan ay kinu-consider ito ng management.

Samantala, sa tanong kung totoo bang ipapasok na si Oyo Sotto sa teleserye tutal naman ay lagi itong nakabantay sa set, ayon sa production ay may plano talaga, pero wala pang definite.

Ang Parekoy ay Enero pa iere at malamang, maabutan nito ang Prinsesa ng Banyera.

Ang reason behind, ay ang ‘pagkasulot’ sa kanya ni Marian Rivera sa soap na Marimar. Siya raw kasi sana ang gaganap dito bilang Marimar, kaya lang sa hindi malamang dahilan, ibinigay ito kay Marian. So natural, sa sama ng loob dahil hindi napasakanya ang isang ma-tatawag na ‘dream role’ sa TV, ipinasiya niyang lumipat na lang ng isatasyon, at ito ay balitang sa pag-ud-yok ng kanyang manager na si Becky Aguila.

Ang Marimar ay alam ng lahat na para sana kay Angel. And we can’t deny the fact that the soap is doing very well now, at ang karangalan sa pagganap dito ay na-punta kay Marian Rivera. Pero, walang panghihinayang naman umano kay Angel pagdating sa bagay na ‘yan.

WILL the magic that Piolo Pascual and Angel Locsin exudes in a commercial continue to be felt in their forthcoming teleserye, “Lobo?” No doubt, this is a most ambitious project from ABS-CBN and intense preparations were done prior to the taping. Directors Rory Quintos and Cathy Molina are leaving no stones unturned to make “Lobo” the best gift to the fans of the two controversial stars.

The initial outcome of “Lobo” will determine the real status of Angel as far as bankability is concerned. Has she made the right decision after all? This is something to watch out for.

While the GMA plug is type and safe, the ABS-CBN plug breaks boundaries. It is what Rainier Maria Rilke refers to as a work of art, the product of “having been in danger of having gone to the very end in an experience, to which man can go no further.” This shows that the ABS-CBN family has heart, not just empty sloganeering. This also shows that being an excellent broadcast station has nothing to do with claims of being the number-one network. The teasers of the young and old soldiers in the foxhole and Megastar Sharon Cuneta and Judy Ann Santos cooking up a feast make sense. The sharing of our abundant spirit is what this spectacle collects and shows through the infinite power of television.

naku dapat mag-improve ang sarah...sa bagay, pilot epi pa lang naman and most of the scenes kahapon eh ung nakalagay sa trailer...so malamang, never before scenes na ung mapapanood natin...

i've seen it last night lang.. teary-eyed ako nung mapanood ko... talagang nacapture nila ung feeling ng pasko sa pilipinas... siguro kung OFW ka...talagang gusto mo umuwi ng pinas sa pasko...

"One More Chance," their new movie together, is the fourth screen team-up of John Lloyd and Bea. They were first seen together in "Now That I Have You," followed by "All About Love" and "Close to You." All these four films were, of course, produced by Star Cinema.

Prior to their series of screen team-up, John Lloyd and Bea have been in several ABS-CBN soaps, the last of which was "Maging Sino Ka Man" which was so successful, that ABS-CBN has decided to do a book two of the teleserye.

"Maging Sino Ka Man Book Two" will start airing next month.

Iniiwasang sagutin ni Anne Curtis ang tanong kung totoong special guest na lang siya sa Book 2 ng Maging Sino Ka Man at papalitan siya ni Angelica Panganiban.

Hindi malinaw kung “oo” o “hindi” ang sagot nitong “ayyy!” tuwing tinatanong tungkol dito.

Sabagay, may The Wedding pa naman si Anne na siya ang bida at kasama niya sina Zanjoe Marudo at Derek Ramsey.

Pabor sa kanyang tatapusin muna nila ang taping bago ang airing next year para hindi mangarag at magkaroon ng time to rest.

Hindi rin alam ni Anne kung bakit wala silang project together ni Luis Manzano, ganu’ng klik naman ang loveteam nila sa TV and movies.

Hindi nila kailangang magkarelasyon para magkaroon ng chemistry dahil nagmumura ang chemistry ng dalawa.

Eula Valdes has the blessing of ABS-CBN in moving to GMA-7

Certified Kapuso na ang aktres na si Eula Valdes pagkatapos niyang pumirma ng one-year exclusive contract sa GMA-7. Kasama siya sa bagong fantaserye ng Kapuso network, ang Kamandag, na pinagbibidahan ni Richard Gutierrez.



Pagkatapos ng bonggang presscon ng Kamandag kagabi, November 12, inamin ni Eula sa PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) na nagpaalam naman siya nang maayos sa ABS-CBN bago siya nagdesisyong lumipat sa GMA-7.



"Never naman akong nagpa-exlusive contract sa ABS-CBN," paglilinaw ni Eula. "Ang last teleserye ko pang ginawa sa kanila ay ang Maria Flordeluna. Kahit may isa pa akong teleserye na ginagawa sa kanila, nagpaalam ako at pumayag naman sila.



"Yun kasing teleserye, paminsan-minsan lang kami nagte-taping at hindi ko rin alam kung kailan ‘yon ipapalabas. Naintindihan naman nila ako nang sabihin kong as an artist, gusto ko namang magtrabaho sa iba since wala pa naman akong ibang project sa kanila."



Dagdag ni Eula, "Lagi namang open sa akin ang GMA Network. Tuwing may matatapos akong teleserye sa ABS-CBN, tinatanong nila ako kung puwede na akong gumawa sa kanila. Kaya lang, madalas kapag tumawag sila, may sinisimulan na ako kaya hindi ko na matanggap ang offer nila. Tamang-tama nang tawagan nila ako last August, nag-decide na akong tanggapin ang offer nila.



"Sa contract ko naman sa GMA, stipulated doon na tatapusin ko pa rin ang commitment ko sa ABS-CBN. May assurance din ako sa contract ko dito ng iba ko pang project na gagawin sa kanila."



NEW KAPUSO STAR. Kumusta naman ang pagtatrabaho niya ngayon sa GMA-7?



"Medyo kinabahan ako noong mag-taping ako ng Kapuso Christmas Station ID sa Broadway Studio. First time kong pumunta doon at nagtanong pa ako kung paano pumunta doon. Nawala ang kaba ko nang makita kong very accommodating sila. Pero lagi naman akong happy sa pagtatrabaho ko kahit saan, dahil mabait naman sila sa akin. Pero siyempre, iba ang feeling ko ngayon dahil nakita ko na welcome na welcome ako dito," lahad ni Eula.



Natawa si Eula nang tanungin kung gaano kataas ang talent fee niya sa GMA-7. "Konti," nakangiti niyang sagot.



May expectations ba siya sa pagtatrabaho niya ngayon sa Kapuso Netwwork?



"Ayokong mag-expect dahil ayokong ma-disappoint, basta magtatrabaho na lang ako," sabi ni Eula. "Tama na yung nakikita ko ngayon na very warm ang pag-welcome nila sa akin, kahit ang mga artistang kasama ko rito. Yung iba naman, nakatrabaho na ko na rin at excited akong makatrabaho ang mga bagong makakasama ko, like si Richard na gaganap bilang anak ko. And I'm very thankful sa GMA Network management sa maganda nilang pagtanggap sa akin."



Pinabulaanan din ni Eula ang napabalita na ang kaibigan niyang si Jean Garcia ang nag-convince sa kanyang lumipat sa GMA-7.



"Hindi kami nagkakausap ni Jean noon kaya alam kong nagulat din siya na malamang nandito na rin ako sa GMA," paglilinaw ni Jean.



"Marami na ngang nagtatanong sa akin kung kailan daw kami magkakasama ulit ni Jean. Siguro darating din ‘yon, hindi naman puwede agad dahil mayroon na siyang sinimulang soap [La Vendetta] at ako naman ay dito nga sa Kamandag. I'd love to work with Jean again."



Sa ngayon, nasa Australia ang husband niyang si Richard Litonjua, isang electrical engineer. Last August ay nagpunta sa Australia si Eula at ang anak nila ni Richard na si Juliana at ang panganay ng aktres na si Miguel. Nag-enjoy raw sila nang husto doon.



Pero hindi pa raw sigurado si Eula kung makakapagbakasyon muli silang mag-iina sa Australia this Christmas, o baka naman daw payagan si Richard ng kanyang opisina na makauwi sa Pilipinas .

Five versus five ang labanan ng primetime shows starting next week.

Rarely magpantay ang dami ng shows sa primetime ng ABS-CBN at GMA-7. Madalas na mas konti ang nightly shows ng Kapuso network at nangyari na rin na tatlong shows lang ang lumalaban sa normal na limang shows ng Kapamilya. Minsan na ring nangyari na nagpantay ang dami ng shows ng dalawang station ngunit tag-apat lang.

Next week, sa premiere ng Kamandag sa GMA-7, tapatan ang mangyayari sa primetime with five Kapuso shows versus five Kapamilya shows, not counting the primetime news programs.

Kung hindi magbabago ang schedule, the competition will start with Zaido: Pulis Pangkalawakan nina Dennis Trillo, Marky Cielo, at Aljur Abrenica versus Princess Sarah ni Sharlene San Pedro. Ito ang parehong pinakapambatang shows ng GMA-7 at ABS-CBN, respectively, kung kaya't ito ang pinakamaaga sa schedule ng dalawang giant networks.

Ang Pangarap na Bituin nina Sarah Geronimo, Rica Peralejo, at Maja Salvador ang sasagupain ng pagpasok ng Kamandag ni Richard Gutierrez. Extreme ang pagkakaiba ng dalawa, isang musical-drama at isang fantaserye-action.

Si Lastikman (Vhong Navarro) naman ang sasagupa kay Marimar (Marian Rivera) na isang extreme muli, fantaserye versus drama.

Dumating sa Pilipinas ang international Filipino star na si Lea Salonga kagabi, November 13. Kasama ni Lea ang kanyang anak na si Nicole at ang kanyang equally-celebrated mom na si Mrs. Ligaya Salonga.

Halatang pagod si Lea, pero malugod pa rin siyang nagpaunlak ng interview sa ilang miyembro ng media na sumalubong sa kanya sa airport.

Tuwang-tuwa ang international star dahil naging matagumpay ang kanyang pagganap bilang Fantine sa timeless musical play na Les Miserables. "It was an honor and quite a challenge to have played Fantine in Les Miz," pahayag ni Lea.

Ikinuwento rin ni Lea na labis siyang naapektuhan dahil sa nagaganap na stagehand strike sa Broadway sa New York. Ayon sa balita, work rules at staffing requirements, pati na ang mga balangkas sa pagbuo ng isang mamahaling Broadway show, ang naging dahilan ng welga ng mga manggagawa.

"There's not much going on there right now because of the strike and I hope it stops," sabi ni Lea, na labis ang pag-aalala para sa kapwa niya Broadway actors.

Samantala, tuwang-tuwa naman si Lea habang ikinukuwento niya ang kanyang pagiging ina. Kilig na kilig pa siya habang idinedetalye ang pag-aaalaga niya sa kanyang panganay na si Nicole.

"She runs now! If you can just imagine, hinahabol na siya ng lola niya. Ako hinahabol ko siya kahit saan. Nakakatuwa! She's such a sweet and wonderful kid. She also talks a little bit now. So it's really nice when I talk to her. Nakakatuwa talaga!" pagmamalaki ng Tony-winning actress-singer.

Natuwa rin si Lea nang mabalitaan niyang may plano si Ai-Ai delas Alas na gawan siya ng tribute concert. Wala raw problema kay Lea kung gawin ng comedienne na katatawanan ang mga kantang pinasikat niya. Basta ang importante raw ay huwag mawala ang respeto kung paano isinulat ang mga nasabing kanta.

"Wow, I feel so honored and so flattered!" bulalas ni Lea. "You know that's Ai-Ai and you pretty know what to expect when you watch her. She's a great comedian."

Sa isang cruise ship daw magpa-Pasko si Lea at ang kanyang pamilya. Wala pang ibang plano ngayon ang aktres kundi tutukan ang kanyang bagong musical play sa Pilipinas, ang Cinderella.

ABS-CBN won six prizes for excellence in communications in the 2007 Gold Quill Awards held annually by the International Association of Business Communicators.

Bong Osorio, head of ABS-CBN corporate communications, accepted the awards from Roni Tapia-Merck, president and CEO of Merck Communications and president of the IABC, in ceremonies at Mandarin Oriental in Makati City Wednesday evening.

ABS-CBN correspondent Tin Repolona said the awards were given for six ABS-CBN public relations drives.

nakita ko sa pep ung costumes ng kamandag ng kabila..fantaserye pala to..kala ko action action lang... and i hate to admit this but ang ganda ng costumes nila.... walang wala sa mga fantaserye ng abs... nakakainis pa eh may mga characters sila dun na taong lobo... spoiler alert ata to para sa "Lobo" ni angel...talagang gusto nilang ibaba ng husto si angel..

sana magfocus na lang ang abs sa mga dekalibreng drama...wag na magventure sa mga fantaserye dahil talagang talo tayo ng kabila jan...

sana rin sa next kiddieserye na Cedie eh ayusin na nila...drama dapat hindi sineskwela..

Magaganap lang ito sa 21st Star Awards for Television na sa Linggo (Nov. 18), 7 p.m. sa Henry Le Ir-win Theater ng Ateneo de Manila University na ma-tatagpuan sa Loyola Heights, Quezon City.

It’s final: Piolo Pascual and Sam Milby are filing a libel suit against Lolit Solis this morning at the Manila Regional Trial Court.
The case arose from an item Lolit wrote in her column Take It! Take It! in Pilipino STAR Ngayon (PSN) where she recalled having seen Piolo and Sam whispering into each other’s ears while having snacks at the poolside coffee shop of the Sofitel Philippine Plaza and then “scampering away” when they heard her coming.Piolo and his “witnesses” claimed that he was “somewhere else” at that time, and so did Sam and his own “witnesses.” Insisting that they wanted the “truth” to come out, the two gave Lolit 10 days to make an apology and a retraction, otherwise they would file a case against her. Lolit stood pat on her story and said that, backed by her own “battle-scarred” lawyer, she is ready to fight it out in court in defense of her own “truth.”Will the expected long-drawn court battle bring out more “truths” about Piolo and Sam? Nasimulan ko panoorin yung PNB kaya lang ng ibahin nila ang twist ng story sa pagpasok ni Heart Evangelist..medyo nagulo yata yung istorya nila kaya tumigil na ako sa panonood.. I would suggest sa na gumawa ang ABS ng finish story and the script bago sila magsimula ng story.. Kagaya ng ginagawa ng Korea.. May finished script bago nila ilalabas.. Nasanay kasi tayo na kapag nag rate ..ayun dadagdagan ng bagong twist not thinking kung nakaktulong ba ito sa isang TV Drama to the point nasira na yung story line.

INakailang teleserye na ng DOS na nakapannodd ako na ilang beses din ako naguluhan sa totoo lang..

Actually ang inaasahan ko din dito sa PNB ay yung naging life story ng tatlo when they were separated and then how they will rise to fame and the ultimate to reunite the whole family once more.. Kaya lang naiba ang twist..kasi ang dami din nilang dinagdag na cast na dapat naman na hindi nah.

Nangyari din iyan sa Ysabella.. lalo ako nahilo bah.. ng bigla nilang ipasok namna ang character ni Angelica Panganiban .. Ay nako can we have a very good script and storyline this time ng sa gayon di naman nasasayang ang pagpuyat natin sa panonood ng mga teleserye na at least at the end of the day na masabi nating we watched a meaningful episode..

The current offering of Star Cinema, Cathy Garcia-Molina’s One More Chance, is something of a departure for this lady director. Known more for her excellent handling of light, romantic comedies, One More Chance’s screenplay, credit to Carmi Raymundo and Vanessa Valdez, is an angst-ridden examination of the process of separation. As in real life, there are shafts of humor, but this is not your twenty-something bubbly love story, but an in-depth look into how anxiety, hurt, a search for renewal and equilibrium, and a whole load of misunderstanding, accompanies the end of a “young adult-love relationship.” Vanessa was responsible for the box-office hit, A Love Story, so expectations run high in terms of the texture and depth with which this probe will be made. And on this count, both director and screenplay writers deliver with aplomb.

John Lloyd Cruz (as Popoy) and Bea Alonzo (as Basha) work in an architectural firm, he as an engineer, and she as an architect. They’re well into their relationship as the film unfolds and as a twist, we’re treated to Basha entertaining doubts on whether the relationship is growing and going anywhere. It’s this impending end to the relationship and the aftermath that drive the storyline from the outset. John Lloyd and Bea come into their own in the movie, showcasing their range and developing maturity as actors. We saw hints of this when John Lloyd played Aga Muhlach’s younger brother in Dubai, and we’ve seen it in Bea’s more complex teleserye characters. It all comes to fruition in the film, as John Lloyd and Bea essay roles that stand out as multi-dimensional. The confusion, the anguish, the drive for resolution and closure, the success and failure of all the above, are given their turn under the microscope and it’s wonderful to see the gamut of emotions playing on their faces and in their body movements and gestures. There’s even the play of “I may be saying this, but not feeling it” and it works precisely because of the range of our two leads, and the way direk Cathy makes them go through their paces.

The support cast superbly adds texture to the film, giving it a veneer of reality and complexity. The barkada element is an engrossing detail and even made me wonder how the restaurant/bar they’d meet in could survive given that every time we have it as a setting for the action, the members of the barkada are the only customers. Maja Salvador and Nikki Gil perform creditably as the women John Lloyd’s character interacts with, and Derek Ramsay has a relatively meaty role as the architect who befriends Bea’s character, and helps her discover herself professionally.

My only reservation about the film would be its ending. After all we’ve been led to understand about our two main protagonists, the bittersweet parting on campus (a poetic nod to where the relationship initially blossomed) strikes a much more consistent note than the ending we have with Popoy coming back from two years in Qatar and seeking Basha on the construction site of her latest project. But I accept that commercial considerations would have submitted a “suicide note” if it was my preferred ending. We still want a wistful and hopeful ending to our mainstream films.

My other comment would be that is it would take a “needle in a haystack” kind of search to come up with the kind of men we have in the film. John Lloyd’s and Derek’s characters are the stuff women’s dreams are made of. One is so in touch with his feelings, there is never a hint of macho posturing. The other is that straight best friend always there and yet never hits on you, even when there is a hint of sexual tension. Men in some feminist heaven won’t come any better than these two creations of a female director and two female screenwriters. Having said that, it doesn’t mean they make the film any less realistic or credible. In fact, they become potent points of discussion for young couples who will watch the film. One More Chance is a wonderful product that deserves a wide audience as it tackles a lot of the issues that accompany break-ups and heartbreak.

As if naman, hindi sila nagbabasa ng PSN eh noon pa ako sulat nang sulat ng aking mga saloo*bin.

Na mas concern ako kay Atty. Malaya dahil baka hindi niya magamit ang kanyang mga Barong Tagalog kapag hindi natuloy ang demanda laban sa akin.

Hindi ko yata pinangarap na iniirap-irapan ako ni Atty. Malaya dahil gumastos siya sa mga damit na hindi naman niya nagamit.

There’s a white paper said to be circulating against ABS-CBN news and current affairs division head Maria Ressa inside the network.


The document is reportedly a clear attack on Maria and the "job" that she is doing there, how she "dismally fails to deliver good ratings for any of the news and current affairs programs of ABS-CBN."



A network source informed Mister Showbiz that Maria was told by ABS-CBN management to "shape up or ship out," if she still cannot deliver good ratings for the news and current affairs programs in the coming months. Insiders are even talking about the return of Dong Puno, former head of the said department, to replace Maria and pick up his old post in the network.

Dong was sidetracked from news when he made unsuccessful political bids for the Senate and the Congress. Since Maria took over from Dong Puno in the news and current affairs in early 2005, she has initiated purely changes in the network, but her programs have not shown any formidable dominance or even considerable gain in the ratings game. "TV Patrol" continues to be clobbered by competition, "24 Oras" in the rival network. Even the late night "Bandila" proves to be a consistent nomatch against GMA 7’s "Saksi."

Another interesting subject tackled by the white paper, according to our source, is the "second boss" of the news and current affairs department who reportedly makes decisions, especially when Maria is not around. Not even the other two news bosses could do anything about the "second boss" decision, said our source. The second boss also handles several other programs.

Maria was taken in by ABS-CBN management obviously because of her impressive background in international news reporting, having worked with CNN for more than a decade before she joined ABS-CBN. While she may have all the enviable credentials to run the department, she unfortunately fails to apply her foreign leadership to ABS-CBN because she has not proven anything, the source added.

One of the glaring changes Maria implemented in the news room is the code of ethics. Because of this, several news personalities were either suspended (like Korina Sanchez) or kicked out from the network (like Doris Bigornia).

News and current affairs staff members, however, are wondering why the code of ethics does not include any morality clause. The white paper says it all as far as this issue is concerned.
