I watched the "No Hidden Agenda, No Spins, Just News" ang galing News and Public Affairs Ads ng GMA7... Nakakahook....

Im not pro-GMA7, pero i think ABS should do the same thing. Gumawa sila ng ganyang ads din.

Pero, one thing for sure---GMA7 ads plays with our emotions and i quote Maria Ressa "News that plays with emotions of people is not news, but exploitation".

Pero still maganda pa rin ang ads nila, sana gumawa din ang ABS ang ganyang ads.

Actress Ha Ji-won has been praised by Europeans as a "pearl of Asia."

The film "Duelist" (2005) directed by Lee Myung-se received acclaim at the eighth "Festival du Film Asiatique de Deauville," which came to a close on Mar. 13, in France, drawing attention to its lead actress Ha from European filmmakers.

According to an official from Ha's agency, SoftLand, on Mar. 17, "Duelist" received a standing ovation during its preview for its magnificent cinematography. As many as 1,500 filmmakers and officials from various agencies attended the preview, showing their interest in the film.

The size of the audience at the preview for "Duelist" was nearly double the 800 who attended a preview of "The Promise" (2005), a melodramatic martial epic film directed by Chen Kaige.

The official from Ha's agency said, "Europeans highly praised 'Duelist' probably because of Ha Ji-won's impressive acting as well as its cinematography and colors that must have captivated the hearts of Europeans." Director Lee, who accompanied Ha at the film festival, said, "I found everyone in the audience at the preview marvelling at Ha Ji-won's acting."

Ha, who returned home on Mar. 15, said, "Never did I expect that I would receive such a rave response in France. I felt somewhat perplexed with the top-class treatment I received. When I said my greetings onstage, I was all the more surprised because European filmmakers called me a 'pearl of Asia.'"

Meanwhile, the film "Duelist" will be screened at about 200 first-run theaters throughout France starting from May 17. Prior to this, it will also be shown at about 200 theaters in Japan starting from Apr. 22.

Actress Ha Ji-won has been praised by Europeans as a "pearl of Asia."

The film "Duelist" (2005) directed by Lee Myung-se received acclaim at the eighth "Festival du Film Asiatique de Deauville," which came to a close on Mar. 13, in France, drawing attention to its lead actress Ha from European filmmakers.

According to an official from Ha's agency, SoftLand, on Mar. 17, "Duelist" received a standing ovation during its preview for its magnificent cinematography. As many as 1,500 filmmakers and officials from various agencies attended the preview, showing their interest in the film.

The size of the audience at the preview for "Duelist" was nearly double the 800 who attended a preview of "The Promise" (2005), a melodramatic martial epic film directed by Chen Kaige.

The official from Ha's agency said, "Europeans highly praised 'Duelist' probably because of Ha Ji-won's impressive acting as well as its cinematography and colors that must have captivated the hearts of Europeans." Director Lee, who accompanied Ha at the film festival, said, "I found everyone in the audience at the preview marvelling at Ha Ji-won's acting."

Ha, who returned home on Mar. 15, said, "Never did I expect that I would receive such a rave response in France. I felt somewhat perplexed with the top-class treatment I received. When I said my greetings onstage, I was all the more surprised because European filmmakers called me a 'pearl of Asia.'"

Meanwhile, the film "Duelist" will be screened at about 200 first-run theaters throughout France starting from May 17. Prior to this, it will also be shown at about 200 theaters in Japan starting from Apr. 22.

I hope GMA will not find another "blackout" logic in some areas of Metro Manila for the ratings it got from the shows.

Pero Congrats na rin for the shows. GMA primetime shows are now leading with a slim margin--compared sa during MULAWIN days. Atleast, ABS-CBN is now on its senses. Exert more effort pa, i want you to win..:)

As for GMA7, IT IS EASY TO BECOME NUMBER ONE but VERY HARD to REMAIN NUMBER ONE. So work hard na rin, to give us excellent shows especially KOREANOVELAS...at para magkaroon ng magagandang shows pa ang ABS.:)

Pero Congrats na rin for the shows. GMA primetime shows are now leading with a slim margin--compared sa during MULAWIN days. Atleast, ABS-CBN is now on its senses. Exert more effort pa, i want you to win..:)

If true initial reaction ko suicide ang tapatang ito but on a second more deeper thinking if ever... this would be a very interesting experiment because the result can clearly serve as another conclusion on both competing station for future decisions :D Both series has its own strengths Emperor serious period themed drama (it's no JITP more like DAMO cia for me) versus Wonderful na light realistic dramedy. It only boils down to one question : Alin ba ang mas magiging type panoorin ng Pinoy ?

In recent years, F4 have left their fans hungry for a live performance. But now they're back, and three "F4 Forever Four" concerts are set for Hong Kong Coliseum from March 22 to 24.

According to Hong Kong media, the concerts are entitled "Forever" in the hope that the four guys will stay together forever and that the fans will remember F4 forever. Fans from Canada to Japan and the Chinese mainland have been phoning for tickets, and of course they all want to be close to the action.

Vic Does Not Allow Female Dancers to Dance Too Close.



F4's "Forever 4 2006" concert will be held on this month's 22nd in Hong Kong for four days. For the concert, there are dance practices. Recently, it's been intense practiing, but is Vic scared of "scary" Barbie Hsu being jealous, so he asks that the female dances don't get too close to him?

Yesterday, the only person at the dance practice exposed was Ken Zhu, manager Vicky said, there is an secretive atmosphere, they insist on not being exposed at the dress rehearsal. But before, a Hong Kong reported him taking a stroll in the super market alone, they believe that his fame is not as good as the other 3 boys in the group, but Ken does not give a response.

In F4, the best dancer is Vanness Wu. To show his dance skills, he chose a modern hip hop dance, as for the handsome Vic, he was arranged to dance a 'tangled' hot dance with a female dancer. One part of the dance, even one person will perform a striptease, Jerry Yan and sexy dancers will dance the next dance that will show a lot of skin.

The rarely-dancing Vic, when arranged to practice the dance, he was completely shy, he is also not willing for female dancers to touch him. After the dance instructor showed up to explain, only did Vic abandon his fear and willing to dance intimately with the female dancer. But possible too scared that his girlfriend will get mad, during rehearsal, Vic nervously made a tense movement, carelessly hit himself and caused a nose bleed, scared everyone on set.

The dance-loving Vanness, during the dance rehearsal, only wore a vest, revealing a vigorous figure. The crowd of female dancers who dance with him all receive the 'electric shock'. Afterwards, Vanness showed even more of his varied talent, with the big class of dancers. In less than a few minutes, he was able to call out all the girl's names, surprising everyone, calling him the Taiwan-version of Rain.

Jerry is the fan's most loved in the group, before because of a throat infection, fans sent him soup on the day of the rehearsal, also everyday, they sent cough drops, hoping that he can recover soon. Jerry was very moved and said: "Thank you everyone! There's no more problems now!" He said that before because he was filming "White Towers", he got skinnier, and now he's trying hard to get back to excellent health.

Since sa abs unang pinalabas ang series...hindi kayo magsisi dahil compare sa MG mas malapit halos ang story sa manga...at (gosh) ung cast jun at shun...at infairness mas hawig kay tsukushi ung bida na girl na si mao... ;)

F4 fever continues...nagpabili nga ako ng hongkong showbiz weekly magazine kasi puro F4 ang mga reports inside, that is before pa ng concert. how much more after ng kanilang concert, im sure next week's issue will be full of F4 concert pictures. im not their number 1 fans but i owe them for starting the chinovela/koreanovela fever in me...:D

Choi Su-jong and Song Il-kuk have attained one of the loftiest goals in television: the viewer ratings of KBS TV2’s drama “Emperor of the Sea” have surpassed 30 percent, the hallmark of a top-rated drama, on Jan. 12. The drama was found to be evenly popular nationwide, with the viewer ratings in Seoul recording 32.1 percent.

By contrast, the viewer ratings of MBC’s miniseries “Sad Love Story,” starring Kwon Sang-woo and Kim Hee-seon, have dropped to 16.6 percent, while the ratings of SBS’ drama “Crystal Shoes,” starring Kim Haneul and Lee Dong-geon, plummeted to 10.2 percent.

”Emperor of the Sea” has generated much viewer interest by featuring movie-like fighting scenes filmed in China and the escalating conflict between Jang Bogo (Choi Su-jong) and Yeom-jang (Song Il-kuk).

Kung tutuusin at dapat ding maunawaan ng mga kaanak ng biktima na ang pagtanggap sa areglo ay hindi masama. Isa itong natural na legal na aspeto na laging kinukunsidera sa iba’t ibang kaso.



Ang opsyon para sa aregluhan ay inilalatag ng abogado para sa kanyang kliyente at sa kabilang kampo na sa kanyang palagay ay MAS MAKAGAGAAN ng bawat partidong sangkot sa usapin/kaso.



Bilang basa sa pangyayaring iyon, nakabibigla talaga iyon. Kita naman na matapang pa nga kung magsalita sa harap ng kamera ang abogado ng Dos, si Atty. Regis Puno.

Mabuhay.....nakakatuwa naman sa Friday daw dito sa Riyadh ay may GMA7 Pinoy launching sa embassy mismo....i can't wait to go there....kaso nga lang conflicting eh...may karate tournament then my class pa ako pero ..sa gabi if ver i will try to go there just to see German MOreno and Jolina......

By the way ..guys alarming ako sa EC ..kasi natalo daw as in daw siya yesterday sa rating against GNP.........mukhang mataas ang lamang nya ...pero carry lang for sure eh hindi papayag sina Booba at Piolo ...babawi at babawi sila this week...

As the sun scorched Metro Manila on Monday, a refreshing drizzle fell from Tagaytay’s skies in the late afternoon, and as Filipino folklore would have it, showered heavenly blessings on the union of Claudine Barretto and Raymart Santiago.





Held at the Tagaytay Highlands, the Christian wedding ceremony began at 4:30 p.m. when the skies finally cleared from the brief rainfall. One by one, the star-studded entourage who were all dressed in pink (except for Maricel Soriano, who wore a lavender gown) prepared the aisle for the beautiful bride.

Claudine, radiant and glowing as ever, had her hair up in an elegant twist by Celeste Tuviera, and summer-fresh makeup by Juan Sarte. She wore a white bustier wedding gown by Randy Ortiz with a very long train, adorned with roses. (During the reception, Claudine no longer had her veil and wore a beaded bolero over her gown.)

The groom, meanwhile, cried as he professed his love (http://www.tsinoy.com/forum/editpost.php?do=editpost&p=394784#) for the bride, for not only was he happy to have and to hold her for all eternity but he also remembered his late father, the director Pablo Cuneta, who would have celebrated his 46th wedding (http://www.tsinoy.com/forum/editpost.php?do=editpost&p=394784#) anniversary with Raymart’s mom Cielito on the same day.

When they were pronounced man and wife, Raymart and Claudine kissed and hugged four times to the delight of their guests, as ABS-CBN’s chopper hovered above them for a shower of rose petals.

On such a special occasion, the network war was put on hold as the most unlikely names were paired as principal sponsors, such as ABS-CBN’s Eugenio Lopez III and GMA 7’s Wilma Galvante, as well as lawyer Felipe Gozon and Malou Santos.

Guests were mostly close family and friends (http://www.tsinoy.com/forum/editpost.php?do=editpost&p=394784#), which totaled only to 300. It was indeed a very intimate wedding for a celebrity couple.

As another drizzle began at the end of the ceremony, guests proceeded to a tented area for the reception. Cibo’s Gaita Fores catered the lavish sit-down dinner of Waterspinach Raviolo, Mushroom Trifolati, Pan-roasted Chilean Sea Bass, Green Apple Sgroppino, Roast Beef Tenderloin (http://www.tsinoy.com/forum/editpost.php?do=editpost&p=394784#) Tagliata, and for dessert, the Duetto of Crepe Millefoglie and Tiramisu (http://www.tsinoy.com/forum/editpost.php?do=editpost&p=394784#) Croccante.

The groom’s brother, Randy Santiago, with fellow singer Agot Isidro hosted the program. Performers included Piolo Pascual ("The Gift"), Kuh Ledesma ("Evergreen"), who also sang "To Have and to Hold" with Gary Valenciano, a song especially composed for the couple by Trina Belamide.

Fun and games followed after the program, where prizes were given to the most recently wedded couple (Willie Revillame and Liz Almoro), while a Japanese couple also took home prizes for having been married (http://www.tsinoy.com/forum/editpost.php?do=editpost&p=394784#) for 50 years.

The single male and female guests were also invited to join games, each of them receiving a Timex watch, endorsed by the bride.

Guests were asked to proceed to the back of the ceremony area where Claudine danced with Raymart and her father, Miguel, under a magnificent fireworks display.

Comfort food like salpicao and goto were available in the evening, as drinks overflowed and a band played for all-night dancing.

Giveaways were bonsai plants (overseen by Raymart, an avid bonsai grower/collector) and colored bread sticks (a symbol of union).

The celebrity guest list included Sharon Cuneta, Sen. Kiko Pangilinan, Anthony Pangilinan, Maricel Laxa, Sander and Mons Tantoco, Rica Peralejo, Nikki Valdez, Angelica Panganiban, Ketchup Eusebio, Richard Gomez, Bearwin Meily, Lydia and Arlene Secosana, Victor and Rose Tan, Patrick Garcia, Wenn Deramas, Rory Quintos, Chito Roño, Olive Lamasan, Kris Aquino, James Yap, Onemig Bondoc, Luis Manzano, Chockoleit, Jaclyn Jose, Lito Pimentel, Manjo del Mundo, Ricky Lo, Ethel Ramos, June Rufino and Mayor JV Ejercito of San Juan, who stood in for his father, former President Joseph Ejercito Estrada as principal sponsor.

Celebrity couple Claudine Barreto and Raymart Santiago wed Monday in a grand and intimate ceremony attended by some of society's most popular, most influential and wealthiest figures.

The Christian wedding took place at 4 p.m. at the picturesque country club of Tagaytay Highlands.

Barretto was radiant in an ecru off-the-shoulder gown by Randy Ortiz while Santiago looked dapper in his black suit.

Barretto walked down the aisle with her father, Miguel Alvir Barretto.

The bride and groom became emotional while reading their marriage vows, moving some of the guests to tears.

"A marriage made in heaven" was how actress Helen Gamboa, one of the principal sponsors, described the union.

There were 26 principal sponsors to the star-studded wedding. Among them were former senator Vicente "Tito" Sotto, Comedy King Dolphy Quizon, Lipa City Mayor and actress Vilma Santos, ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp. chairman Eugenio Lopez III and Mowelfund president and actress Boots Anson-Roa.

The other principal sponsors were GMA Network EVP and COO Gilberto Duavit, actress Susan Roces-Poe, Dr. Perfecto Palafox, Dr. Vicky Belo, Mayor Edmundo Jose Buencamino of San Miguel, Bulacan, restaurateur Glenda Barretto, former President Joseph Ejercito Estrada, ABS-CBN’s Charo Santos-Concio, GMA Network’s lawyer Felipe Gozon and Wilma Galvante.

Raymart’s best men were Reily Pablo Santiago Jr. and Reynovich Reyes, while Claudine’s matron of honor was her sister, Marjorie Barretto-Baldivia. Maureen Brennan stood as maid of honor.

The rest of the entourage consisted of relatives and friends of the couple in the entertainment industry, including groomsmen actor Bobby Andrews, and Raymart’s brothers, Rowell and Randy Santiago. The bridesmaids were actresses Assunta de Rossi-Ledesma, Jenny Miller and Ciara Sotto.

Secondary sponsors included Aga and Charlene Muhlach, Edu Manzano, Benjie Paras and Maricel Soriano.

At the reception, the newlyweds and their guests were serenaded by some of the country's best singers led by Gary Valenciano and Kuh Ledesma, a string quartet and an orchestra that played original music written for the occasion by composer Trina Belamide.

Which Famas shall it be? The Famas group headed by Art Padua released yesterday its final list of nominees in the major categories. LIKE global warming, the craze for Koreanovelas is fast peaking in Asia even as the western world —the United States and Canada— has similarly expressed interest in those Seoul-produced trendy dramas. Locally, they have displaced the teledramas from Latin America.

‘The Korean wave remains very strong in Asian countries. No let-up is seen in the near future, what with producers’ continuing efforts to upgrade production by going on location in various parts of the globe,’ says Evelyn ‘Leng’ Raymundo, Vice-President for Program Acquisitions of ABS-CBN.

Raymundo says the Philippines ranks the fourth largest buyer of Koreanovelas in a short list dominated by Japan, China, and Taiwan, in that order.

Which Famas shall it be? The Famas group headed by Art Padua released yesterday its final list of nominees in the major categories. Their nominees for best picture are "Nasaan Ka Man," "Dubai," "Ako Legal Wife," "Kutob," and "Mga Pusang Gala." The other, breakaway Famas group is reportedly still screening possible entries.

LIKE global warming, the craze for Koreanovelas is fast peaking in Asia even as the western world —the United States and Canada— has similarly expressed interest in those Seoul-produced trendy dramas. Locally, they have displaced the teledramas from Latin America.

‘The Korean wave remains very strong in Asian countries. No let-up is seen in the near future, what with producers’ continuing efforts to upgrade production by going on location in various parts of the globe,’ says Evelyn ‘Leng’ Raymundo, Vice-President for Program Acquisitions of ABS-CBN.

Raymundo says the Philippines ranks the fourth largest buyer of Koreanovelas in a short list dominated by Japan, China, and Taiwan, in that order.

hi! we know you are privy to the comings and goings of abscbn. how come they seem to be not in a fighting mood. both kss and jewel in the palace are clobbering the abscbn shows and abscbn is not even reacting. why? also, maybe the first thing they should do is immediately cancel 'wowowee' as it is proving to be their pabigat, it was simple stupidity on their part to insist the comeback of wowowee(the show which indirectly led to the loss of 70 lives). their midday programming needs to be overhauled . maybe charo santos needs to be in touch with programming trends around the world or the region, the world is simply not made of teleseryes.

Mas mabuti na din na sandali lang ang span ng isang teleserye ng ABS-CBN para hindi magsawa ang viewers. And you are right, sobrang ganda ng Gulong ng Palad. No wonder mataas ang ratings nito.

Yung Bituing Walang Ningning, 1/3 of the series, tapos na i- shoot. So talagang ang span ng teleserye ay less than 6 months na lang.

Sandara Park need not coach ABS-CBN Vice President for Program Acquisitions Leng Raymundo on how to speak Korean. The seasoned media practitioner has viewed enough Koreanovelas and gone to Seoul many times to buy canned imports she can grasp Korean words and speak them as well.

She describes the rise of the Koreanovela in more concrete terms. "The Philippines is the fourth largest Koreanovela buyer in Asia, next to Japan, China and Taiwan."

And since competition is tough, Leng knows developing rapport between her and Koreanovela producers is just as important as having money to buy their products. Months before she hies off to Seoul, Cannes, Japan or elsewhere to look for these canned shows, Leng gets a thick pile of fliers, info sheets, video trailers and other materials describing shows she is about to see.

These make it easier for her to narrow down her choices of what to buy for ABS-CBN viewers once she gets to the festival.

The arrangement is one of give and take, Leng states. Producers know they can’t price themselves out of the market. The Philippines needs new Koreanovelas in the prized primetime slots. So both parties find a happy middle ground.

That’s how the network was able to get Princess Lulu, Lovers in Paris, etc., shows that appeal to the Filipino’s penchant for young love, true and oh-so-pure.

"We’re like Koreans when it comes to love," concludes Leng. "We swoon when the girl fights for her man and he stands by her."

So she looks for the all-important kilig factor and touches of humor when she’s at the Mip TV and/or Mipcam festivals in Cannes, showcases of TV programs from all over the globe.

Once she’s made her choice, Leng negotiates and pays for acquisition rights (exact figures confidential). Then, the localization of the Koreanovela begins. Leng gets its English translation (the original script is in Korean), arranges the dubbing in the ABS studio and scouts for Filipino music to enhance the program.

She even makes sure voice talents they hire back home match the character whose lines they are dubbing. A timid character, for instance, calls for a shy, self-effacing person in real life. An aggressive one needs a dubber who radiates control, power even.

The pay-offs can be heartwarming. Koreanovelas have eclipsed Latinovelas like the all-time chart-topper Rosalinda in the ratings game. The fire and passion of those brown-haired Latina bombshells have long given way to the demure smiles and stolen glances of Korean lovers.

The Koreanovela boom offers not only a lesson on winning Pinoy audiences over. It also shows us a thing of two about helping the TV industry.

"The Korean government supports the TV industry. The homes there, for instance, are wired," observes Leng.

No wonder the Koreanovela is fast becoming one of the top exports on their side of the globe, with Asian networks trying to outdo each other in getting the canned shows.

About time we take the cue from our lucky Korean counterparts and hope – even by a long shot – that our government will follow suit.
