but whose got better reception, without cable, in mega manila.


there are a lot of areas in megamanila where abs has poor reception or no reception at all if without cable.

Jan lang yun sa metro manila kasi dahil sa hirap ng buhay di na minsan nag papaconnect ng cable....... kaya xempre inuna ng ABS ang mga province na lalong pagandahin ang network nila sa mga province.... nahuli lang ang metro manila kasi mas naiisip ng ABS na priority nila noon ang mga malalayung lugar kaya hindi sila nag-stick sa metro manila.........


Pero kung mapapansin mo lahat ng mga shows nila na ginaganap sa labas...... dami kayang nagpupunta.......

Hmm, I think hindi din. Kasi kung trusted masyado ng mga tao ang mga Koreanovelas ng GMA 7, hindi sana mataas ang ratings ng Koreanovela ng ABS-CBN.

Look at Only You, di ba flop ito sa Korea? Pero in the Philippines, tinalo nito ang Sugo, Etheria, even ang StarStruck.

And in the case of Princess Lulu, na super flop sa Korea, itinapat ng ABS-CBN sa My Name is Kim Sam Soon, pero ano ba ang difference ng ratings? 7% in favor of My Name is Kim Sam Soon.

The reason why most of the people here are happy seeing Korea's best series over ABS-CBN is because of excellent dubbing and good promotions. May sarili kasing dubbing facility ang ABS-CBN, kaya kung pangit ung pagkaka dub, puwede ulitin. Saka yung quality ng promotions, maganda.

Kahit hindi man mag rate dito sa Manila, understandable naman because of poor reception of ABS-CBN. Ang important eh mas madaming nakakapanood ng show outside the ratings area. Of course, to satisfy viewers.

I think it's not a matter of trust its a fact that majority of the very good K-Series had been acquired by GMA and their advantage - the momentum is currently with them. There are some good acquisition by ABS but hasn't been shown yet. They COULD be potential hits but of course it would greatly depend on the TIMESLOT and what K-Series it will be pittted up against with.

Imagine naman ang ipinalabas nila for more than a year na: Full House, All About Eve, Jewel in the Palace, Sassy Girl, Kim Sam Soon, Attic Cat at marami pang iba.

Many people, especially avid followers of the ABS-CBN gameshow, have been asking if Wowowee has been totally scrapped or will be revived after its airing screeched to a halt when a stampede killed 71 people and injured more than 300 during its planned first-anniversary presentation last Feb 4 at the Philsport Arena (the Old Ultra).

The answer is a big yes, Wowowee will be back – very soon (perhaps sooner than you can say, "Wowowee!").

"It will still be hosted by Willie Revillame who has created a cult of his own," said Funfare’s Bohol Avenue DPA. "Willie has also turned the gameshow into an inspiration for the poor who pin their hopes for a better future on the show’s various contests which shell out cash goodies as prizes."

The DPA added that there will be changes in the format, all for the good of the show and its followers who have been, despite the tragedy, clamoring for the show’s comeback. Whatever those changes are you’ll have to find out for yourself when Wowowee returns...this Monday (Feb. 27)?...or next Monday (March 6)? Stay tuned.

One positive change ("improvement"), according to the DPA, is the inclusion of a Bayan Micro-Financing which will help the winners, if they so desire, put up income-generating small-scale industries. ABS-CBN, which helped bury the dead and take care of the injured’s medical/hospitalization needs, put up the 71 Dreams Foundation in memory of those who died in the stampede.

There are many shows from ABS that had been shown & has to be shown yet, which are good shows but I think their reception affected them very much. Why can't they fix it? Unlike GMA, ang ganda-ganda ng reception nila including their QTV station. How come Studio 23 has a clear reception, that's also owned by ABS. That's why, I prefer watching GMA shows because of this.

Mich fails to beat 24-hour deadline

Mich has failed to beat the deadline set by Kuya for her to return to Big Brother’s house (http://showthread.php?p=367267#). More than 24 hours have passed since her unprecedented exit yesterday but Mich has not yet returned.



The la fashionista left the house yesterday at exactly 3:12PM after she complained of having difficulty breathing. She was immediately rushed to Philippine Heart Center for a medical checkup. Upon her exit, Big Brother gave her 24 hours to return to his house. “Sa mga panahong ito, si Mich ay nagpapahinga sa ospital at tinitingnan ng kanyang doktor. Huwag kayong mag-alala nasa mahusay siyang kalagayan pero hindi ko alam kung anong oras siya makakabalik. Binibigyan ko rin siya ng 24 hours para makabalik sa aking bahay." Kuya told the housemates yesterday.



As of this moment, Kuya has not yet informed the housemates on the whereabouts of Mich and his final decision on Mich’s failure to beat the 24-hour deadline he set. Watch Pinoy Big Brother’s 1st Eviction Night later to get the latest updates on this story. The show airs after XXX on ABS-CBN.

'Wowowee', 'di magpapalit ng titulo!

IT’S final: The controversial yet popular program of ABS-CBN Wowowee will be back on television on Wednesday, March 1.

As its top brass Gabby Lopez explains: "This is not just a game show anymore. This is not just ours anymore. This is now the show of the people."

Hence, the show must go on. With its good intentions too.

It comes back with top host Willy Revillame and its other co-hosts and cast and the whole crew behind it.

Even if the last fatality of the Ultra Feb. 4 stampede was buried last Monday with Willie and other Wowowee people present, the show must live with the tragedy. Anyway, they have more pleasant memories to live by.

So now they are planning to make a fitting comeback. Next Wednesday.

Now it can be told: There were suggestions to change the name of the Wowowee show, only the name. But then, it is just like having a new collar for the same dog.

So instead of changing the name of the show, it was decided to improve on the format and the selection of the contestants for the games.

The segments must be improved. According to Mr. Lopez, they have to bring in a machine to print admission slips or tickets for the audience so that the same won’t be duplicated by xerox machines or copiers. So they can give them out early.

This is one reason why they cannot issue these slips or passes earlier for enterprising people tended to duplicate them or reprint fake ones. Or sell them.

Moreover, they will bring the Bayan Micro Finance measures to the show with these financial advisers to help out "instant millionaires" with their prize money, advising them how, where and when to invest their net prize, after the balatos are given out. Isn’t this teaching these people how to fish, too?

There’s a suggestion to invite past winners to the resumption of the show and few days after — to tell their "success stories", what they did with their winnings. To look back to pleasant memories rather than tragic ones.

Then have a regular portion, once or twice a week, a dramatization of their success stories as part of Wowowee. Abangan na lang natin next week.

Rudy Fernandez, the "Iron Man of Asia," was booted out of the "Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) Celebrity Edition" Saturday night.

Rudy was the third housemate to leave the house but the first to be evicted under the regular eviction process, which is determined by viewers' text votes.

Rudy, got 22.6 percent of total text votes. His fellow nominees DJ Rico Robles got the highest vote with 50.4 percent while sexy star Keanna Reeves got 27 percent.

Like a true sportsman, the 2001 SEA Games flag bearer of Team Philippines, accepted the viewers' decision, saying that it was part of the game.

"I am an athlete and I am used to winning as well as losing," he said.

Before he left the house, he gave each housemate a souvenir. The housemates in turn gave him a good-bye hug.

As a farewell gift, the housemates also gave Rudy a DVD that contained their personal messages to him whom they considered their "tatay" (father) in the house for 20 days.

"Tatay Rudy, you have been an inspiration to me. [Your eviction] does not end our friendship]," said housemate John Pratts.

When Rudy emerged from the house, hundreds of fans in front of the PBB house cheered. At the studio, Rudy shed tears when he saw his four sons among the audience.

Rudy was in his prime years as an athlete when he lost his right leg from a bomb explosion. Instead of losing hope, he strived to regain his strength so he can join several competitions.

In 1996 he drew national attention when he swam from Guimaras to Iloilo to shatter the long-distance swimming record of Terry Fox who crossed the English Channel. A hospital in California donated a hydraulic mechanical leg to Rudy to replace the wooden leg he has been using since the ‘80s.

That same year Rudy ran for Standard Chartered Bank in a Hong Kong marathon and was hailed Asian Hero by Readers’ Digest. He has since been representing the Standard Chartered for various triathlon events in Asia.

Mich suffers anxiety attack

Meanwhile, Big Brother announced the automatic eviction of fashion designer Mich Dulce after she failed to return to PBB house within the 24-hour deadline.

Mich left PBB house at 3:14 p.m. on Friday after she complained of breathing difficulty. She was rushed to the Philippine Heart Center for a medical checkup.

Under PBB rules, however, a housemate who goes out of the house should return within 24 hours or face automatic eviction.

As of 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Big Brother said Mich was still in hospital and has been advised by doctors to "stay for further treatment and examination."

Dr. Randy de la Rosa, PBB resident psychologist, said Mich is suffering from anxiety attack caused by suppressed emotions.

He said among the aggravating factors that worsened Mich's condition were her fights with several housemates. "She also expressed disappointments and frustrations over the fashion show inside the house," de la Rosa said.

He said Mich, who is an artist and writer, found no emotional outlet for several days because writing and drawing are banned inside the house unless ordered by Big Brother.

The doctor said Mich had suffered stress when she decided to shave her head as a sacrifice for her nanny.

He said Mich also got no emotional support from many of the housemates who find her hostile.

The psychologist said Mich's may ease her anxiety by resolving her conflicts with the housemates.

Prior to the anxiety attack, Mich had a verbal tussle with Keanna in front of several housemates. She also had a misunderstanding with John Prats, one of her closest friends inside the house.

She was able to resolve her conflict with John but she evaded her other housemates. Mich thought they hate her for being so vocal and open about her feelings.

Having noticed it, Big Brother asked the housemates to work closer with Mich during tasks and dance routines.

The move paid off as Mich got along once more with her housemates.

On Friday, however, she suffered an anxiety attack, prompting PBB to call the resident doctors who advised that she be brought to a hospital.

I'm not a Sharon fan but I'm happy that finally we are having a local version of Oprah. Long overdue na ang magkaron ng local talk show that can inspire people. Sana lang this show would not only stick but surpassed it's VISION at di maging mixture lng ng showbiz, pulitika at pa-cute pag tumagal-tagal ;)


Now that MANWL ended... hope there would be another series for this talented kids on primetime. Maybe dramedy for a change :)

I love Sa Piling Mo premiere episode. I had great expectations about the show but it was even more. Very poignant yet very entertaining. This is the one I've been waiting for years for ABS-CBN to produce! Genuine drama on Philippine primetime television!

talagang malaki na ang improvement ng mga teleseryes ng dos. tama si kris, koreanovela inspired nga. example na iyan yung sa piling mo, in just 5 days, sobrang bilis ang takbo ng istorya. di na pinaikot-ikot. same with gulong palad. all i know marami na silang natapos na eksena kaya walang disturbo. dati kasi hinihintay pa mga reaction ng viewers saka gumawa ng script.

ABS-CBN was featured in KBS World this morning. They had an interview with Ms. Kris Aquino and Ms. Cory Vidanes. Madaming Asianovelas ang ABS-CBN na in- acquire kasi plano nila na maglabas nang marami ngayong 2006.


And kung mapapansin ninyo, hindi na inaabot ng 1 year ang mga teleserye ng ABS-CBN. Tinatapos muna i shoot, bago ipalabas.


Ang pagkakaalam ko, sunod na ipapalabas ang Wonderful Life. Wait na lang tayo.

But this show needs to be seen, even if you've never seen a Korean TV Drama. Its script is almost flawless, the characters interesting, multifaceted and true to life. The 'love triangle' shenanigans are really only an afterthought, just there to pretend this is a Trendy Drama, and when there is a touch of melodrama it always feel sincere. Why? Because such emotional intensity is brought up in an amazing crescendo that when it explodes, it's like a Scud Missile. And I'm not talking about easy, formulaic 'Korean Drama' histrionics.
