Big and good things continue to happen to the show-biz career of balladeer Christian Bautista. And one of them is his big break in television as the leading man of Ann Curtis in ABS-CBN’s "Kampanerang Kuba," which is based on the Vilma Santos film of the same title.

Under the direction of Wen Deramas, the soap according to him will start its taping on May 15.

"I know that this project will lessen my singing engagements," Christian confessed. "But I really want to try acting whether on television or the movies. I have established myself as a singer so I want to try acting too."

Fans of the Christian Bautista and Rachel Ann Go love team should start preparing for some adjustments about their idols’ tandem when "Kampañerang Kuba" starts airing. It is very much possible that a Christian-Ann TV romance will blossom when the said drama-fantasy begins.

With regards to his present and future love team, Christian describes them as an integral part of his work. He is confident that starring in the soap opera won’t affect his working relationship and friendship with Rachel. He also confirmed for the nth time that he and Rachel are not an item even if they go out a lot.

"Rachel is an inspiration because she is a very good friend. And honestly I like her. We are just trying to find out if we are good for each other. We are in that stage. If ever I’m good for her and she is good for me then baka ligawan ko siya," Christian said.

After Christian tapes his episodes for "Kampañerang Kuba" this May, he will leave for America to join the last "Nights of the Champion" series in the U.S. Produced by Adkins Multimedia Concepts, the show will be held on June 3 at the HP Pavillon. He will be with his "champion" colleagues like Sarah Geronimo, Mark Bautista, Sheryn Regis and Frenchie Dy.

"This is one of the best and biggest venues and it will be the first time that Filipinos will be performing there. I know it can seat 8,000 people," he described enthusiastically. "After the ‘Nights of the Champions’ series it will be time for us to focus on our solo careers."

To date, Christian’s solo career as a recording artist is doing very well. His self-titled album has reached double platinum status in the country and it has become a platinum success in Indonesia. He now joins the ranks of Filipino artists like Lea Salonga, Jose Mari Chan, Basil Valdez and Martin Nievera who have successfully invaded the airwaves of Indonesia.

His album too was recently repackaged to include four new songs – "Say You Love Me," from the "Start in a Million" album, "You and Me," his duet with Rachel Ann Go, "So It’s You," from the "Dreamboy" soundtrack and "I Will Be What I Believe." Five music videos were also included in his album.

According to him, "I Will Be What I Believe" is the theme song of the Naga College Foundation. His payment for interpreting the song will be a scholarship program for a student he will choose. This is his way of giving something back to the public for all the blessings he has received in his career. They decided to include it in the album because Christian considers it to be a very good song and it has a very inspiring message as well.

Christian is still overwhelmed with what has happened to his life when he joined show business. He was never interested in showbiz while he was growing up but when the opportunity arose, he gave it a shot not knowing the future it would hold for him.

"I realized in my life that when the opportunities come hindi mo dapat palagpasin and who knows baka yun ang destiny mo. So at least now I knowthat what I’m doing is what I really love pala."

He added that his showbiz life has made his family and relatives here and abroad closer. He has felt his family’s presence more especially during times when intrigues about him surfaced. He was called "suplado" and some also perceived him to be gay. But all the intrigues that were hurled him only made him stronger as a person, he said.

At a young age, Christian Bautista has already reaped success. But more than his being successful in his career, how would he really like to be known?

"I would like to be known as a true person. Sana maging role model, someone people could look up to. Kasi yun ang kailangan sa industry, someone who could set a good example and I want to be that. There might be times I’d fail but I would get up immediately and try again."

maganda kasi talaga aae compared to what happened in bali and stained glass(especially the ending). although hindi catchy ang teaser niya, marami ang naghihintay noong series since marami nang nakapanood noon since ginawa pa yon noong 2000 pa.

pero sa totoo lang, hanga ako sa ABS kasi ang galing nila sa dubbing at talagang inaalagaan nila yong mga series na palabas nila compared to GMA na bukod sa pangit ang dubbing, sobra pang magmasaker ng series katulad nang nagyari sa AAE kagabi wherein halos 20 minutes yata ang inalis sa episode 1 pa lang.

kaya naman ang ganda ng dating sa akin noong what happened in bali kahit na solid aae fan ako.

Grabe, tinapos ko pa ang Memories of Bali sa office. Nakakainis! I was expecting na 9:30PM, mag a air na ito kasi maaga natapos ang TV Patrol World as in medyo okay ang schedule ngayon. Pero nung Spirits na, aba, biglang nag advertise ang ABS-CBN nang sangkatutak, puro mga shows pa nila! Kaya hayun, 10:05PM na nag- start ang Memories of Bali. Hindi ko tuloy napanood ang Stained Glass! :(


Anyways, nakakatawa ang episode ng Memories of Bali ngayon. Ang cute ng role ni Erica dito. At si Paolo, babaero talaga. Ang sexy ni Nina! Ang tahimik ni Ryan!

Nung 10th year anniversary ng ASAP, diba tinapatan talaga ng GMA ng KAPUSO VICTORY PARTY.

Nung launching ng 30 shows, anong ginawa ng GMA? Tinapatan na naman nila ng GRAND SHINDIG PARTY (Victory Party daw ng MULAWIN)

Sa pagkakadetalye sa mga forums and newspaper dailies, matagal ng plano ng ABS na magkaroon ng THANKSGIVING PARTY sa CEBU, dahil hindi natitinag ang ratings ng KAPAMILYA sa CEBU(actually sa pagkakaalam ko rin, may THANKSGIVING RIN CLA SA DAVAO, which is ABS country, later this year din ata). Ano ang ginawa ng GMA? Eto mag vivictory party din daw cla sa CEBU. Victory Party para saan? :D
Syempre pa, expect na natin mga KAPAMILYA ang dirty tactics ng GMA. Mukhang may malaking demolition job ang GMA ahh. Dapat ABS should be ready to counter these wicked plans. (Naturingan pa namang CHRISTIAN NETWORK, ano ba!!!!)

For your information, there's an article that GMA braced to conquer Cebu. In that article, it was noted that GMA Network executive claimed that GMA 7 is #2 in the provinces.

Park Shin Yang to meet Kim Jung Eun again in LIP2?

The most popular drama last year - Lovers In Paris is going to shoot a sequel. The company behind this production - Castle Is The Sky is planning to ask former LIP's stars Park Shin Yang & Kim Jung Eun to act in the new sequel.

Because this project is still in the midst of discussion, there isn't any detailed plot yet. They decided on the 2 leads as an extend from LIP1. For the time being, PSY & KJE are not involve in any drama (this part is weird I thought kje is involve in PLL & WT)

Other than casts, the most important is screenwriter. Many will be paying close attention to the storyline. The 2 screenwriter for LIP are busy writing for other drama at the moment. As they have sign contract with these drama, so it not possible for them to get involve in LIP2.

So who will be the screenwriter? Furthermore whether the 2 leads are willing to act in the drama? All these may take an unexpected turn of event.

Kaya excited na ang buong Cebu sa pagdating ng mga Kapamilya stars na magsisimula bukas, April 29. Pangungunahan nina Dolphy, Charo Santos-Concio, Maricel Soriano, Kris Aquino, Gary Valenciano at mahigit 100 Kapamilya stars ng iba’t ibang ABS-CBN shows.

In fact, it was the only pop idol drama from Taiwan that got nominated for best feature in the recently concluded Golden Bell Awards, the Emmys of the Chinese-speaking world. Ka-liga siya ng mga serious at highly acclaimed non-commercial drama serials usually aired on public TV stations in Taiwan.

Kaso, the storyline of "The Rose" tends to confuse younger viewers. They may believe that intermarriage among siblings is acceptable. The viewers must be briefed before watching the series that the three siblings in the story all have different fathers but one common mother, who portrayed a movie actress. The reason one of the siblings (played by Ella of S.H.E) married one of the two guys (played by Taiwan commercial model Jerry Huang), is because she had the spirit of the dead girlfriend (played by Selina of S.H.E )of one of the two guys that had bloomed fully like a beautiful rose and had inherited her characteristics. Great care should be placed on this storyline. I have reason to strongly place this Chinovela on the latter rung of the Primetime Bida, and not in the afternoons, due to its mature content.

Philip shows up, pleads 'not guilty' to estafa raps



Actor Philip Salvador entered a "not guilty" plea Friday during the arraignment on an estafa case filed against him before the Las Piñas Regional Trial Court.

The actor presented himself to Judge Elizabeth Guray after he surrendered voluntarily to Las Piñas police officials.

Guray on Wednesday issued a arrest warrant for Salvador after the actor failed to attend the arraignment. The case was filed by businesswoman Cristina Decena, former girlfriend of Salvador.

Decena accused the actor and his brother Ramon of diverting $100,000 in funds for a remittance company that they would supposedly set-up overseas.

During the hearing, Salvador said he failed to appear before the court because of hypertension. He did not mean to ignore the court summons, Salvador added.

After hearing Salvador's plea, Guray set the next court date on May 11.

In an interview after the arraignment, Decena said she is willing to forgive the actor provided he agrees on a compromise settlement.

Salvador said he does not harbor any anger toward Decena or anybody allied with his former partner.

The actor, once a most-sought after action star in the '80s and early '90s, was dragged into the controversy after allegedly duping Decena of millions of pesos.

Decena, a businesswoman in Bulacan, accused Salvador of entering into non-existent business deals and using her money as capital.

Salvador denied the charge.

Bella Tan succumbs to cancer at 51

Bella D. Tan, a prominent pillar in the local recording industry, succumbed to cancer on Tuesday at 11:30 p.m. at her home in Corinthian Gardens, Quezon City. She was 51 years old.

Tan was the managing director of Universal Records, the producer and distributor of the albums of such artists as Jose Mari Chan, Gary Valenciano, Geneva Cruz and the group Parokya ni Edgar.

Valenciano and his manager-wife, Angeli Pangilinan-Valenciano, were among the last ones to see Tan on her sickbed. The couple went to see the music producer Tuesday night to present a demo copy of Gary’s album.

Tan passed away 30 minutes after listening to Gary’s new songs. She is survived by her two children, Jeffrey and Jacklyn.

Bella kissed and embraced Gary after she heard his new album. "I had the feeling she wasn’t going to stay long with us because the glow in her face was gone even as she did her best to smile before us," Angeli told the Times in a cell-phone interview Wednesday afternoon.

Tan was first seriously taken ill about two years ago but had a miraculous recovery. As late as February this year, she was still up and about, joining the promotions of one of Universal’s latest talents, Jerome John Hughes.

Tan comes from the Dy family, a pioneer in the Philippine recording industry that established Dyna Records in 1957 and WEA Records Philippines in 1977 (now Universal Records). She is the daughter of the music-loving physician James G. Dy, the founder of Dyna Records, now Dyna Music Products Inc.

As managing director of Universal Records, Tan is credited for developing dance groups into recording artists.

Under her wing, she developed the Universal Motion Dancers as a popular dance group from mere foreign album promoters. One of its members, Wowie de Guzman, became the first on-camera sweetheart of Judy Ann Santos in her early soap operas on ABS-CBN 2.

It was also under Tan’s leadership that Jose Mari Chan’s Christmas In Our Hearts album hit the foreign market and earned the distinction of being the first Filipino album to reach the diamond mark, selling more than 300,000 original copies in just a few weeks.

Universal at one time or another also produced and distributed the albums of APO Hiking Society, Kuh Ledesma, Jolina Magdangal, and those of the late veteran singer Diomedes Maturan, once known as The Perry Como of the Philippines.

Tan’s remains lie in state at the Chapel C of Christ The King Parish Church in Green Meadows Subdivision, Quezon City. Interment will be on the morning of May 1, Sunday. Final interment details are yet to be released by the family.

Rachelle Ann Go, whose voice and form bested all other contestants at the Search for a Star competition a year ago, will hold her very own concert dubbed Rachelle Ann Go, The Ultimate Champion tonight, 8 p.m. at the Aliw Theater in Pasay City.

Her self-titled album, released late in July, was declared Gold with sales of 15,000 copies after a month and later Platinum, with sales of 30,000 units four months later. She is now one of the regular hosts of the TV variety show ASAP and part of the Pinoy Champions group of young singers touring the country, the United States and other major cities abroad.

Go released three consecutive hit singles from her album: "Don’t Cry Out Loud;" "You and Me (We Wanted It all)," a duet with pop balladeer Christian Bautista; and "From the Start," which won for her the silver prize at Shanghai Asia Music Festival in November. The song, composed by Vehnee Saturno also won the Best Song Award and is available in music stores in a special concert edition of Rachelle Ann’s album.
