About "The Rose (Chiang Wei Zi Lian )"(2003):

This is a story about a dysfunctional family. Three children of different fathers by a single mother who is a big name movie star. All of them lived with her in her palatial compound far away from the city. Then there was a new entrant to their lives: in which the story was centered on. She was Lily (Chinese name: Pai Her), portrayed by Ella Chen, in real life, the boyish looking but strongest member of the mega Taiwan girl group S.H.E. Although on the surface, the characters are technically siblings, but Lily's encounters with her two supposed siblings "Tsin"(Jerry Huang) and "Kuei"(Joe Cheng) may not be misunderstood by majority of Filipino viewers because of the sensitive content of the story.

Also in this series is Joelle Lu Ming Jun (of "The Outsiders" fame), as the eldest sister of the siblings. The series earned well for TTV which first shown it in the summer of 2003 back in Taiwan. Produced by the same company that gave you "Meteor Garden", Comic Ritz Productions.

"The Rose" earned one nomination for the 2003 Golden Bell Awards as best Drama series but didn't won the award. A highly recommended series!

Vietnam Rose and Sugo, an exciting match up. A quality teleserye and a tele fantasy series. Mababa din ang ratings ng Sugo kumpara sa ibang tele fantasy series ng GMA.

Pinoy Big Brother versus Sassy Girl and Jewel in the Palace, hmm. Pinoy Big Brother has a strong following. It won over Sassy Girl. Let's see until November 7, 2005 if it will rate high than Jewel in the Palace.

Nakita ko na ung teaser ng Koreanovelas nila: Only You, Forbidden Love, Wonderful Life, Spring Day and Princess Lulu.

Feeling ko maglalagay sila ng Asianovela ulit. Pero this time, hindi sa Primetime Bida.

Since 1 episode na lang ang 24 Season 3, ang maiiwang timeslot nito every Friday night ang possible paglagyan nito.

Better siguro if not Koreanovela ang ilagay dito. Mas okay kung J-Doramas, kasi ang episodes nito mostly 10-12 lang, so good for 3 months talaga. Unlike ang Koreanovelas, matagal pa if ever kasi mga 16-22 episodes eh.

Hindi nila isinama yung Chinovelas and J-Doramas. Meaning, priority nila itong mga Koreanovelas na ito.

Sam got evicted last night. It was his best look in the show ever since he entered the house. So many people in and out of the house. Jampacked crowd. Most # of people for the past 5 eviction nights. Grabe din when he was about to go to the studio where he's in the Nissan Frontier. Hindi makadaan ung car.

i think its only fitting that they gave a good tribute to the original panday ... anyway, twas just 15-20 minutes (?) ... and there's still a part 2 of the documentary which most probably wont deal with fpj anymore. i salute abs for doing this.

as for heart ... twas said that they knew it was heart when they saw echo with heart on the tv screen, which presumably happened after the initial shoots of panday were taken and they realized that mel has no chemistry wd echo. heart didnt audition.

and i dont think they should harp on the reshoots done because of this ... its unfair to mel ... afterall, she's no longer a part of panday.

sa mga nagtatanong about ratings, iba-iba kasi ang method na ginagawa ng iba't ibang firm. hindi ibig sabihin ng survey ay isu-survey kayo sa bahay-bahay at lahat ng bahay...masyadong teknikal....it's just like pinalalabas nila na [halimbawa] ang certain number of respondents nila sa mega manila ay representation ng mega manila. of course, may scientific studies sila kung paano ide-determine ang tamang number of respondents na dapat mag-represent sa isang population.

one thing, meron ding method ang ibang firm na mag-aalok sila sa isang household ng pang-survey device [may bayad yun syempre, abala ba naman!] na iko-konek daw sa tv and every lipat mo ng channel may lalabas na questions daw sa screen regarding sa ginawa mong paglipat [ayoko ng ganun].

personally, naniniwala ako na ang mga ratings ay for entertainment. every one has right to question the accuracy of the ratings. sus! ihalimbawa mo na ang sa mga politically-related news.

pero, muli, sa mga makikitid ang utak na kapamilya...hindi ko nilalahat ang mga dos fans....na wag na silang mag-sourgrape regarding ratings dahil INUULIT KO, YOU USED TO ENJOY THE PUBLICITY BROUGHT BY THESE FU***** RATINGS WHEN FAVE STATION WAS ON TOP POSITION FOR SEVERAL YEARS.

dati akong dos fan, kaya alam ko na panay bomba rin ng abs ng mga ratings na pang-mega manila lang at automatic nga na nagpu-proof na sila ang no.1 dati.....

GMA na ang nasa taas.....bakit ba nagagalit kayo na may nilalabas na ratings ang GMA? bakit ayaw nyong gumawa ng petition sa abs na maglabas din ito ng ratings para magka-alaman.

nope indi comedy yung only you... pero its pretty good. i hope it also do good. i'm expecting n ibang kdram yung mauna ipalabas pero okay lang din e2.

as for panday maganda naman yung effects nila merong ibang flaws pero kung di mabilis yung mata mo and ndi ka naman masyadong bihasa sa computer effects halos di mo na rin cya mapapansin. gaya ng nasabi ko noon i hope this one do good kasi medyo mahal yung cost of production nito di ba at sayang yung more than one year na preparation nya pag nagkataon.

Actually, there's an instrument called PeopleMeter that AGB-Nielsen installs on random households. The instrument sends information to AGB-Nielsen when it's turned on.

Effects on encatadia are not so amazing coz the environment is so dark which you can't apreciate the effects kasi di mo kita masyado..unlike panday where you can see it on your bare eyes..no need to focus kasi kitang kita mo talaga...

i happened to watch 2 consecutive nights of panday when tristan accidentally met eden and the wedding event. imo, encantadia is by far much, much better than panday. however, it's too early for me to say the progress of the story but for a start, the love story itself is rather the conventional type ... poor boy meets rich girl ... girl's parents aggressively spurn the relationship ... boy&girl run away, etc, etc. don't you think the ratings (ulk!) of encantadia speak for itself? sorry, i find panday so boring and nowhere in the production value i can say WOW! pwede siguro, WOW, MALI!

so, you were able to watch mulawin ah! the creators of encantadia are the same creators of mulawin (except for the writer and chosen few), from the staff to the graphic/fx designers.

so what do you expect from the production/set design? be able to come up with props made from fibreglass/resin? even some hollywood movies make use of styrophor and even corrugated boxes for their props and sets. besides, that's when creativity and innovativity come in. and pls try to find out the credibility of the production designer of encantadia. do some research if i may ask so. abt the acting per se, i was just wondering ... ilan taon na bang artista si heart? matagal na syang artista pero wala pa akong nakitang pagbabago sa acting nya. hindi ko alam kung anong nangyari sa workshop ng panday. nag short-cut? pretty face (ulk!) lang talaga sya. para sa akin mas magaling pang umarte sa kanya si yasmien.

imo, this is where this series might fall. ginawa nilang semi sine ang mga elemento ng produksyon. tv medium is different from film in terms of technical aspect. remember, toto natividad/carlo caparas are film directors trying to penetrate the tv kasi wala ngang masyadong film projects sa industriya. paki sabi na lang kung may access ka sa abs, paki tone-down ng lights at paki-check ang acting ng mga artista at i-polish ng husto ang script. too ordinary ang play-up ng takbo ng istorya. WANSAPANATAYM is once upon a time, literally and figuratively.

how can you say bayaran ang mga g-liner buses? may basis ka ba? share mo naman sa amin dito. so aminado ka na mataas ang ratings ng encantadia at gma shows. di naman kasali ang mga mobile tv sets sa ratings. paano naman kasi maso-survey yon? nakaka-bilib ka naman ... natiis mong makapanood during your trip? heto ang WOW! para sa akin. i suggest, next time para di ka mabwisit matulog ka na lang din or bumaba ka na lang sa nearest bus stop. try to avoid things that upset you kasi mahal ang gamot. gets?

The QTV jumps over the What?

MOVE OVER, IBC 13 (CHOWTIME Na!), RJTV (Jojo A. All the Way!), and Winner TV Shopping (Suzy Guttler!), there's a new brotha' in town! (Well, he's actually more of a sistah.)

QTV is GMA 7's little baby. Don't worry, it isn't here to inflict pain and suffering on the entire human kind. It's only here to inflict pain and suffering on teen to middle-age females who watch local television. http://www.pinoyexchange.com/forums/images/smilies/hihi.gif (If it works, population control--not a problem.)

According to the GMA website, QTV's programming is fresh, female and family-oriented. Female, check. Family-oriented (yeah, if you want your little boys to prance around like fairies). Fresh? Not exactly.

Anyway, the folks at IBC 13 are trembling. And so are eager advertisers itching to reach out to Manang Tiring and a girl named Wynwin. There's an audience for QTV--and it'll score, no doubt. (Hey, if Joel Lamangan movies can, so can QTV.) But it doesn't mean the station's good--and that it's good for society. Oh god, let us pray.

Here's a rundown of what they have to offer:

'Candies'

Starring Inah Estrada (daughter of Janice de Belen), Wynwin Marquez (daughter of Alma Moreno) and Alynna Asistio (daughter of Nadia Montenegro), this show is about the hottest teen trends and concerns of the youth, and we're not talking about the hosts. (Hey, Dove! New models!)

Two lines sum up how good this show is: "We're sweeet sama sama/ C-A-N-D-I-E-S" to the tune of Hollaback Girl. Spectacular.

'Fans Kita'

Starring Rainier Castillo, Yasmien Kurdi, Benj Pacia, and other annoying unknown Starstruck contestants, this is the "ultimate fans' show that gives you a sneak peek into the lives of celebrities." (And wannabe celebrities.) Interesting, very interesting, this Benj Pacia guy.

'Ginang Fashionista'

Starring Melanie Marquez, Ginang Fashionista herself, this show promises to make the dreams of housewives come true by making them over into Melanie Marquez. Are there any takers?

This show is so intelligent, the concept so original, the tagline so serious--"It's not your problem anymore. It's our problem anymore!"

'Laugh to Laugh--Ang Kulit!'

(How can they think these shows up? Ang kulit!)

Starring the Jaboom Twins and Anjo Yllana's chubby brother whose name we do not know and don't care to know, this show features Chinese, Taiwanese, and Korean gags… in Filipino! Again, this is mindblowing!

'Ay, Robot!'

Starring Ogie Alcasid, Ryza Cenon, CJ Muere, and some unknown kids, this proves that QTV is the dumping ground for GMA stars we all thought had been run over by cars. http://www.pinoyexchange.com/forums/images/smilies/hihi.gif Knock on wood. This show is about a little doll who turns into a life-sized robot. The doll isn't played by Ogie Alcasid. (Okay, now no one's gonna watch the show.)

'Let's Get Aww!'

Starring Aira, Johlan, and Cheche of the Sex Bomb Dancers, this show is a televised aerobics class featuring the girls gyrating and grinding, to the pleasure of the MTRCB lolos and lolas. Perfect for mothers. It's also a testament to how you can think of any funny chipeaps name, call them a Sex Bomb Dancer, and give them their own show. Amen, mga handler!

'O, Mare Ko!'

Starring Lorna Tolentino, Sandy Andolong, Amy Austria and Gina Alajar aka stars of the 1845 movie, Tama Na, Apo!* this show is a copy of Desperate Housewives and proud to be one. Only in the Philippines!

Sandy is a separated mother of two. Gina is a happy-go-lucky old maid. Amy is a "not-so-smart" OFW. Lorna is a happily-married woman with a sharp mind for business. Three words sum up this show: not so smart.

'Moms'

Starring Lani Mercado and Sherilyn Reyes, this show is about--moms. It was probably created for the two rejects of O, Mare Ko! Sorry, ladies! Enjoy motherhood!

'Ganda ng Lola Ko!'

Starring Ms Camille Pratts, Kirby de Jesus (the one who looks like Jollibee) and (drum roll) Ms Bella Flores, this is a sitcom about (drum roll) Camille Pratts.

'That's Entertainment'

It's baaaaack!!!! To all the fans of Kuya Germs, let us thank him for making our showbiz industry what it is today. Thank you Kuya Germs. We wanna be part of the Tuesday group!!!

'Ultimate Celebrity Dancer'

Starring RnB Prince Jay-R, this show probably features ultimate celebrity dancers like Gloria Romero, Camille Pratts, Angelica Panganiban, Shaina Magdayao, and Camille Pratts. Winner.

'Groupee TV'

A la Friendster, this is the first online community on the tube. We don't get it. What's it about? For now … we can only speculate. Or, stop this 'cause we don't really care. All we know is that peeps from LinkTV like girlygay (annoying!!!) and lonely-poh-akoh are going to be all over this.

The problem with Q

You know what the whole problem with QTV is? It's a problem of the entire Filipino entertainment business--and the MTRCB. Hey, freaks -- wholesome is not always equal to quality. They're two entirely different things. Shows like Lost, CSI, Nip/Tuck--they're not wholesome, but they're qua-li-ty. Shows like Candies and Fans Kita--they're wholesome, but they suck.

We take this opportunity to sound like Robert de Niro. "You think ya' quality? Ha? Ha? Ya don't know quality if it stared at 'ya." End case.

gusto ko po sanang mag-comment dun sa post ni lojees na conventional yung love story ng panday. well, why use it to degrade panaday? hindi ba yun naman ang gamit ng gma sa mga shows nila? sobrang conventional ng mga storylines ng shows sa gma. as someone who's a couch potato, i can say na sobrang gamit na gamit na, sobrang gasgas na ang mga stories na ginagamit nila sa gma. ibahin man ang bihis, same pa rin ang laman. iba na lang ang ibato sa panday kasi bumabalik sa gma yung bato e. just my opinion.

we very well know, qtv has just started. kung baga, nanganganay o little baby 'ika nga. apparently, the article has some malice in itself bec imo, it's still too early to judge, unlike the way i opine on panday series. nowhere in the article i can see any constructive critiscsm w/c is a must for every journalist. kung ganun, para saan kaya ang article na 'to? wala man lang recommendation on improvement w/c nestor torre has the brains for. torre's columns attack and suggest w/c i always read them with utmost objectivity.

my suggestion: pepe diokno and james gabrillo might be able to make great improvements on abs-cbn shows. these two obviously and entirely understand the difference between being wholesome and fresh and quality. since you, johnston, have an access on your beloved network, pls ask abs to pool these 2 for new great concepts so abs will be even at par with the ratings(ulk!) of gma7 shows. 'ika nga sabi ni ai-ai dela alas sa isa sa mga bday wishes nya ... FOR SOMETIME NOW, CHANNEL 11 HAS BEEN biding its time, airing religious shows as it figures out a more definitive identity for itself.

Well, that long-awaited transformation was finally revealed last Friday when the TV station —reinvented as a channel for women, with the help of GMA-7—went back on the air.

QTV 11 now fields a raft of programs for women, like “Women’s Desk,” a public service show that seeks to uphold the rights of women and children, with Rhea Santos as host.

“Liga ng Kababaihan,” hosted by Suzy Entrata-Abrera, Gaby Concepcion (the lawyer), not Sharon’s ex!), and Lynn Ching-Pascual. The tele-magazine show focuses on women’s diverse concerns, interests and issues.

“O Mare” with Amy Austria, Lorna Tolentino, Sandy Andolong and Gina Alajar. The casting is “shades of ‘Moral’,” but the issues are different here, as the four hosts play it light and breezy as they showcase different Filipinas’ lives.

Other new shows deal with the concerns of mothers and women of other age groups, thus expanding the channel’s potential viewership.

What about a program on female-male relationship?

That could help make men feel less left out.

It’s gratifying to note that QTV 11 doesn’t hew to the traditionally held view that programs for women should be escapist, frothy, fad-oriented and out of touch with reality.

The channel’s more engaged attitude should persuade some female viewers to go beyond the “women who lunch” syndrome and deal with the problems that face them, not only as women, but also as active and equal participants in the nation’s life.

If QTV 11 succeeds in developing a loyal viewership in the next few months, it could end up as free TV’s third or fourth most popular channel, after GMA-7, a parent company of INQ7.net, and ABS-CBN Channel 2.

That would put it in direct competition with ANC and ABC-5, which are currently filling those slots.
Conversely, the entry of QTV 11 should light a fire under those two “runner-up” channels, to make their programming even more dynamic than it already is. ---> heto ang ibig kong sabihin abt nestor torre. kundi nyo pa maintindihan ano ang point ko, i suggest, tawagan nyo si leah gatdula sa abs. :D paki-regards na rin ako.

Just in the nick of time, ABC-5 has enlivened its offerings with the recent infusion of new shows like “The Apprentice—Martha Stewart.”

Will ANC come up with more investigative news reports and analytical documentaries to keep its own viewers from sampling the new competition’s offerings? ---> and so, what do u think of this guyz?

The TV wars thicken. ---> yes, indeed! although, qtv still needs to be polished. in due time, full swing din yan. like what i expect from abs, its fans will not take this sitting down. pero sana, mag hunos dili kayo sa mga emosyon nyo. suggestion lang naman. regards na rin sa inyo.

ABS-CBN suspends 2 of its own talents

TWO ABS-CBN talents were slapped with a 30-day suspension by the network for wearing skimpy outfits that exposed their breasts during a dance number in the noontime variety show “Asap ’05.”

The suspension of artists Cherry Lou and Gem Ramos was prompted by a complaint made by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) about the program’s Nov. 6 episode.

In a memorandum sent to ABS-CBN on Monday, MTRCB Chair Marissa Laguardia said Cherry Lou wore a “very sexy/skimpy outfit” and that Ramos exposed one breast while performing.

“We wish to reiterate our regret in connection with the incident,” said Deo Endrinal, vice president for Talk, Reality and Variety, in a letter to the MTRCB. “We wish to assure the Board that we shall ... take necessary measures to prevent a repeat of the incident.”

Endrinal added: “We will continue to strive, bearing in mind our responsibility to our viewers, to produce the quality programming that has been expected of ABS-CBN.”

Another Kapamilya show, “Magandang Umaga, Pilipinas” received a warning from the MTRCB on Monday for airing a video featuring fashion models wearing clothes “with visible/clear breasts.”

On Tuesday, “MUP” expressed regret for the “inadvertent showing of nipples” by contestants for Miss Playboy Latino on the show’s “Kakaibang Balita” segment.

its not about nasaktan ... dahil talaga namang nasaktan c hero ...

but then ... who caused his pain? nasa showbiz sya ... kailangan bang patulan nya lahat ng nega na isusulat sa kanya. kung tutuusin wala pa yung mga naisulat sa kanya compared sa mga nega write-ups noon about claudine, juday, aga ... etc.

everybody in abs advised him not to file a case against cristy dahil d naman talaga dapat patulan ang mga showbiz writers ... but he didnt listen. o ngayon ... d court has decided -- wlang merit ang 27 cases na na-file nila against cristy.

Lam mo I'm either a fan of Hero, The Buzz, Kris, and Sandara..I love them all but not now!! I was once brain washed by Cristy Fermin's articles and ABS's propaganda that Hero is an arrogant and dsrespectful talent and I believed it!..BUT NOT NOW!! I'm looking on the other side now..Hero was in a very fragile situation when he became more harsh on things.."when a certain staff of the Buzz said that he will be pulled down by the management.." how will you act when you hear that?? huh? you'll be paranoid!

Hi SilverBullet, I agree with you that Panday is a good series. One thing that I really don't like is the replaying of the previous episode, which is taking very long always and this is eating the timeslot. I don't mind all those "flashbacks" as long as they make it shorter. But all the same, I like watching the series because of Jericho. He's one of the actors that I like locally.

Suggestion po para medyo dumami naman ang content ng Panday pero kahit mahaba ang commercials, bawasan na ang opening (yung nilalagay ang cast) tapos bawasan na rin ang ANG NAKARAAN...Medyo 5 mins din ang inaallot na oras dun e.
Inuulit ko po, ok lang more commercials pero more content din. Hindi yung 3 minutes lang ang content tapos 10 minutes ang commercial. Pleaaaaseeeee....

ninominate nya c franzen A DAY BEFORE big bro informed her of the possibility of franzen's eviction bcoz of his mouthing violation involving her. iba ang mental and emotional state nya at that time wherein ang nasa isip nya cguro ay ang na-zero nilang budget bcoz of franzen, as against the time ipinaalam na sa kanya na mae-evict na talaga c franzen. and if you noticed, almost all the housemates also nominated franzen ... he got 5 nominations while cass got 6 ... kaya nga sila talaga sana ni cass ang magkakatapat.

i dont doubt cass intentions ... i believe in her sincerity in trying to save franzen from outright eviction.

hahaha...im sooooo happy di natanggal si cass...i like her!!!! for me kahit sino sa kanila ni uma ang deserving manalo...kasi kung tutuusin naman eh sila ang nagpaikot ng story ng pinoy big brother!! kung wala sila walang buhay.....di naman pahirapan ang laban dito... di dahil mayaman ka wala ka na karapatan na mas umasenso...wrong philosophy po yun....dati i don't like cass kasi nag iinarte lagi siya...pero ngayun na nakita ko na ugali ng ibang housemate naisip ko na baka nga strategy lang talga ng iba yung pinapakita nila...i agree po sa nagsabi na from the heart bumoto si cass...wla siyang pinupuntirya..basta kung sino di niya like yun ang binoboto niya...too bad na nga lang yung akala niyang kaibigan niya ay binabackstab siya....ehem SAY ehem!! pero ito lang masasabi ko...SAY UR next na mapapalayas(sori sa mga fans ni say)!!!
