Wang Leehom's new album "Xin Zhong De Ri Yue" has been the best selling champion album since the beginning of the New Year, selling more than 150,000 copies. After the 7th champion single "Shu Lin Shen Chu" his company spent millions in shooting Leehom's 8th MV "Ai Cuo" using movie techniques. After "Shu Lin Shen Chu" and "Forever Love," Leehom is once again acting as director, making Leehom very happy. He said it's his first time to shoot 8 MVs for an album and 3 of them are directed by himself. Being able to combine music and image together is the happiest thing for a musician. Leehom also said that he hopes to be able to have a homerun, that all 10 MVs can be main so that everyone can experience the charms of "chinked out."
In this new MV Leehom make a big breakthrough. He revealed his muscular body and six-pack. This time Director Wang also filmed using different techniques from his past MVs. Because of this this MV's male lead is a boxer. In order to win the boxing champion he neglected his girlfriend. In the end the two broke up. And in order to show the music and story, the boxing competition is the focus. To show his best physique, Leehom has been working out a month before the shooting of this MV. He lifted weights for 2 hours each day, making Leehom, who's body wasn't bad before, even more muscular.
Leehom especially invited his good friend Vanness Wu to act in "Ai Cuo." They will have an intense fight against each other in the MV. Because the main focus of the MV is boxing, someone had to be the 2nd male lead so that they could fight Leehom. The first person that came into Leehom's mind was Vanness Wu, who had portrayed a boxer in "Star Runner," knows martial arts and is also a good friend. Vanness, who was in Thailand filming an commercial at the time, agreed immediately and also made a day free during a critical time so that he could fly back to film the MV. A: I want my ideal wedding to be like a party. It'll be a party with great music and a great band. It'll have to be music that's really good, and preferably lots of performers. (Pauses) I hope my funeral's like that too. And that everyone gets a little tipsy!
Q: You have many fans in non-Mandarin speaking countries asking for an English album. Will you be fulfilling their wishes any time soon?
A: Composing in English is very natural for me. I've actually recorded many songs in English. I just haven't released an English album. I would probably do that in the next one to two years.
Q: "Forever Love" was written for your ex. Do you regret not salvaging the relationship?
A: No. I'm not a relationship salvager. I think when a relationship ends and when fate has dealt you the cards, it's time to start moving on in life, and to give her my best wishes. So I'm really happy for her, that she has found someone whom she can love for life, and can provide for her in ways which I could not.
That's why I wrote the song, "Forever Love". I want to write a song that actually has a positive outlook on love because I feel that so many Chinese songs have lost all faith in love. I still believe in love and that a song can inspire people to keep the faith.
Q: Your MV for "Forever Love" features a wedding. Do you feel it's time for you to slow down and start working on your "social" life?
A: Nah, I don't think so. I don't think I'm ever going to "work" on my social life. I already have a lot of great friends and special people in my life that I love dearly. They get me through the tough times, my writer's block and through whatever the tabloids say about me. I really appreciate the people who matter in my life.
Q: Shangri-La is the title of your new album. So what's your idea of Shangri-La?
A: I think it's different for everyone. I didn't know until last year, when I was producing the album, that "Shangri-La" means "the sun and the moon at the centre of your heart". Hence, the title of the album. So, it's different because everybody's heart is different. What is the sun and the moon in your heart? For me it's my music and to be able to live and thrive in the world of music.
Q: Your ballads tend to ber very well received. Who do you think of when you write and sing your ballads?
A: My ballads are all different. On this album, the title track "Shangri-La" is about finding that special place in your heart that fulfills you. So it's actually very profound and a bit abstract. I wrote the song in Shangri-La, and it's inspired by Tibetan music. There's actually Tibetan Palace music that I've recorded while in Shangri-la on the track. So it's very interesting piece of music and I sing from my heart, and that's it. Those were the feelings I got when I was in Shangri-la.

hey guys..newbie here...
Actually, i really have no idea of wang lee hom until i heard his songs in an airplane...Ihave no idea of what he's singing but i really like the rhythm and melody..tipong kahit hindi mo maintindihan carried away ka talaga...so i checked out the airplane's list of songs played in their radio...Good thing i can read a wee bit of mandarin, i learned that the beautiful songs were sung by wang lee hom..

The Fifth Global Chinese Music Awards was an event to remember for those who managed to see great singers from all over the region perform.
THE stars who attended the Fifth Global Chinese Music Awards (GCMA) must have felt like they were about to get their report cards that night. After all, winning an award during the event meant that they had the support of listeners from the seven radio stations across the region, namely Malaysia’s 988, China’s Beijing Music Station, East Shanghai Station and Guang Dong Radio Station, Taiwan’s Hit FM, Hong Kong’s RTHK and Singapore’s Yes 933.
The atmosphere last Saturday at the Putra Stadium of the Bukit Jalil National Sports Complex was charged with suspense as fans turned out in full force to show their undying support for their favourite singers.

It was a grand affair indeed, with an elaborate stage complete with a giant revolving TV screen and some huge flat screens for the benefit of audience seated far away from the stage. Of course, the artistes were garbed in their glamorous best as well.
My favourite was Hong Kong singer Joey Yung, who defied the usual over-the-top Hong Kong style of dressing and went for a classic black tube dress instead.
Other superstars who upped the glitz factor include Taiwanese hotties Jolin Tsai, Wang Lee Hom and Mayday, Singapore’s JJ Lim and Tanya Chai, China singers Hins, Zhang Jie and Snow Wei, our very own Nicholas Teo, Penny Tai and Fish Leong as well as Hong Kong favourites Eason Chan and Sandy Lam.
One of the most unforgettable performances for the night was veteran artiste Sandy Lam, who won the Best Achievement Award for her years in the music industry. Her repertoire included her classics Ai Sang Yi Ge Bu Hui Jia De Ren (Loving Someone Who Never Comes Home) and Zhi Sao Hai You Ni (At Least There’s Still You).
There has never been a more lovely or dynamic diva in the Chinese music scene. Her crystal clear voice mesmerised the audiences and even bowled over many of the stars who were present. This writer was also entranced with the beautiful rendition of Ke Bu Rong Huan (Precious Moments) by the beautiful pair of Joey Yung and Hacken Lee as well as Tanya Chai’s Xuang Yi Dong Wu (Amphibian).
Yung was obviously the media’s favourite as she won the Media Recommended Award and was also the top five Most Popular Female Artistes.
“With this award, I promise to work even harder,” said a beaming Yung.
Chai was honoured to be recognised for her composing skills. “It’s such an honour to be sharing the Most Popular Composer title with other great talents,” she said.
Eason Chan was another singer whose star shone brightly that night as he was named the Regional Best Performer for Hong Kong.
“With awards like these, I hope that Chinese music will continue to grow and prosper,” said Chan. after receiving his much-deserved award. His popular tune Xi Yang Wu Xian Hao (An Unbeatable Sunset) was performed as the grand finale for the Top 25 Hits that night.
The other big winner for the night was, of course, Wang Lee Hom, with his female fans shouting out their adulation.
was also a surprise favourite that night, being one of the winners for Most Popular Composer and having his album Pian Hao 89757 (Serial Number 89757) named as one of the best albums for the year. In fact, this singer sang out his thank you speech after receiving his award. While the slew of fabulous performances and smooth running of the show certainly made the GCMA a rousing success, it was just a tad disappointing when Taiwanese popster Jolin Tsai was named the ultimate Most Popular Female Artiste. As adorable and sexy as she might be, she could hardly hold a candle to other divas like Joey Yung and Stephanie Sun in terms of musical talent. Whatever the voting-based results may be, the fifth GCMA has certainly helped bridge the gaps between Chinese music in the different regions of Asia.

Alan Kou is having his first ever concert on 9/17, he has invited his friends Wang Leehom, Jolin Tsai, and Ken Chu. He held a press conference yesterday for his first concert. Suprisingly Wang Leehom, who was supposed to have left for Thailand, was also there to support him. Alan expressed his gratitude: "I really appreciate Leehom's presence. He should be in Thailand now, but this morning he decided to postpone the flight for me. Leehom has always given me support."
The Taiwanese media known for it's short attention span, decided to shift the subject to Leehom and Jolin Tsai. The two walked down the red carpet during the 2005 GCMAAs. After the show Jolin told the media in Malaysia that she used to have a crush on Leehom.
The media kept on drilling Leehom, what he thought about Jolin, whether the two would have a chance. Leehom smiled and politely answered, "I appreciate her for her admiration, she's a wonderful "shi mei," and I'll be there if she needs anything." Leehom, known for his refusal to talk about his private life in public, not even for publicity stunts, turned the spotlight back to Alan.
He joked, "If you want to know more, be sure to go and support Alan's concert 9/17, we are all going to be there and we'll see what happens."
At Alan's concert, Alan is scheduled to have a duet with Leehom, with Leehom playing the piano. Jolin will rap with Alan at the concert to the song "open one eye close one eye", the rap was especially written for the concert. Ken Chu will also make a guest appearance. We will have to see if Leehom will give a reply to the "Crush" story..
Alan was asked how he felt about Leehom pushing back his schedules for his concert, and Alan filled with gratitude replied, "Earlier when Leehom was busy promoting his album, I asked him to listen to some of my songs before my album release. Suprisingly he asked for all the songs in my album and put it into his notebook computer. I thought he would only help me critique one or two considering how busy he was. Instead he listened to them one by one and gave me advice song by song. Was I shocked when I found out he listened to them one by one, I felt so special! He gave me tips on how some songs could be improved and now to work on others. "

Leehom has been through a lot this year; one notable event is the mispronunciation of his name at the Golden Melody awards by Karen Mok. The event caused a lot of embarrassment, however Leehom, known for his sportsmanship, still sat through the ceremony with a smile and even attended the after party. The most amazing part of the ordeal was when he stepped up to defend Karen Mok, who was being criticized. Leehom has an amazing talent of coping, however, there are some accusations that still irk him. In 2001-2002, he was bombarded by the press and media with accusations of being gay, and now he has a fear of that subject because he is tired of answering the same questions over and over again.
Leehom is a truely devoted to his music in the sense that he keeps most of his life private to the media. Instead of fueling gossip, Leehom places most of his focus and energy on his music. It is admirable that he doesn’t need publicity to attract attention.
However, because Leehom rarely speaks of himself, the press is often curious. They only know of one of Leehom’s past loves, known as Ms. Bai, of whom Leehom wrote the song “Forever Love” to, for her wedding. To satisfy their curiosity the press has come up with two scenarios: Leehom is gay because he has no public love life or Leehom has a secret relationship with A-mei. Leehom has denied both rumors, he sees no need to attract any more attention to himself by holding press conferences declaring his sexual orientation or who his new lover is.
Recently however, Ah Xin, appeared on a television show and rekindled Leehom’s old “gay” rumor. On the show, the host said that out of Mayday’s members, Ah Xin received the best response from members of the gay community. Ah Xin replied to this “compliment” by saying “Well, I’m pretty sure Leehom would be much more popular.” Taking this comment as a sort of cue, the show immediately called Leehom, asking him if he was gay. Leehom was in Su Zhou eating dinner when he received the call. Although his dinner was interrupted, Leehom known for his composure, kept his temper and replied with a forced laugh, “So Ah Xin pushes this subject matter onto me, am I supposed accuse someone else as being gay? This is going to be a never ending topic.” It is reported that after the call Leehom lost his appetite as he was greatly disturbed/hurt (not sure of the word) that someone like Ah Xin, who worked with Leehom and Fish Leong, would make such a comment.
Looks like when Leehom finally thought he was free, he is once again going to have his private life scrutinized. Well we all know what is going to be on the newspapers for the next few weeks.

THE 12th Singapore Hit Awards (SHA) happening tonight is truly a Singaporean event.
Just look at the attendance list - of the 26 attendees, 16 are local artistes or musicians.
Homegrown singers Stefanie Sun and J J Lin are fighting for top honours with seven nominations each.
Even Singapore Idol runner-up Sylvester Sim has snagged three nominations for his solo Mandarin debut, while Project Superstar alumni Kelly Poon and Hong Junyang will be performing on stage.
But fans are disappointed at the line-up.
Isn't the SHA supposed to be the biggest and most glitzy Mandopop event of the year?
A time when fans get to scream for the who's who in the Chinese pop scene?
Last year's show was an extravaganza combining the star power of Faye Wong, Jolin Tsai, Eason Chan, S.H.E and Jeff Chang.
The biggest foreign stars expected tonight are frequent visitors like Emil Chau, Fish Leong, Mayday and Energy.
Hong Kong pop duo Twins will be attending the SHA for the first time.
Ironically, the four biggest faces that dominated the SHA poster - Jerry Yen, Jolin Tsai, Lee Hom and Jay Chou - will not be seen at the actual event.
The New Paper understands from their record label Sony BMG that they all have prior engagements that do not allow them to be in Singapore today.
Jay is busy promoting his new album launched on Tuesday, while Jerry is filming a new drama.
Jolin and Lee Hom are in China filming commercials.
So, Sony BMG's only representation this year is New Local Act nominee Sylvester.
Also missing will be former big-time winners David Tao and S.H.E, and Taiwan's longest-lasting boy band, 5566.
Even Ocean Ou, who finally unveiled his face here yesterday, after selling 75,000 copies of his two albums, will not be showing up.
The line-up has left many Mandopop fans like regular SHA goer Linda Loh feeling disappointed.
'Usually, the Hit Awards is a good chance for us to see big foreign artistes who rarely come to Singapore, but there are few big shots this year,' said Ms Loh, 30.
'I was hoping to see (Courts New Idol nominee) Jerry Yen, but he's not coming.'
A check with SHA organiser Y.E.S 93.3 FM revealed that 75 per cent of tickets have been sold - but not before the launch of a buy-three-get-one-free promotion for $58 and $38 tickets to boost sales.

Leehom has spotted Rain's popularity was able to compete with Jay Chou, he has proposed to sing a duet with Rain in his new album. If the 2 huge pop stars collaborate, we'll have to see how Jay combats this!
Leehom has been in the industry for 10 years. He began his career in 1995 with his handsome face and musical talents and was crowned "Quality Singer". He became the music industry's invincible Prince charming. Although 2 years later, another talented musician David joined the industry, however David seems more like a mature elder brother and their share of the market was divided clearly and didn't threaten Leehom's position.
It was until year 2000 when Jay entered the music industry and became popular very quickly and caused a shuffling of pop idols. Leehom has never collaborated with Jay and aren't really friends behind the stage, however he has collaborated with David before.
Jay and Leehom's competition has become apparent, they release their albums
at separate times to avoid each other and their fans would only like their singer and have comments to give to the other.
At the end of last year, Leehom released "Shangri-la" and set a best selling record for his recent albums. Leehom has targeted Jay's Asian vigorous opponent- Rain, and hope Rain can help him bet Jay.
This collaboration has been categorised as a confidential by SonyBMG. It has been said that Leehom and Rain plans to record this week, however Rain has to shoot the TV series "**** Love" and has been postponed.
SonyBMG says that Leehom and Rain has met many times at different back stages of music award ceremonies and Rain has admired Leehom's violin and piano solo performance in Korean's Buzz Asia awards. Leehom has invited many different singers to collaborate and Rain is one of them, however his new album is still in its planning stage and Leehom claims "Collaborating with anyone could be possible!"
Rain's Korea advisor has said Rain has been busy with his TV series shooting and has no time for other activities. He says Rain knows Leehom, however his schedule is packed. So how will Jay react to this collaboration of the 2 pop stars? Alfa Music wishes Leehom's album will sell better than before and hope his new
album will sell well.

Alexander Wang Lee Hom reportedly wants to do a duet with Korean singer Rain for his new album so that he can outdo rival Jay Chou. Lee Hom was originally being pitted against David Tao but the latter is older and their share of the fickle Chinese-speaking market divided clearly. Offstage, the handsome Lee Hom and Tao are actually good friends.
When Chou entered the music industry in 2000 and became instantly popular, he was immediately pitted against Lee Hom, something which their respective handlers do not discourage.
The Lee Hom-Rain collaboration is reportedly as good as done as both parties have met several times to discuss specifics. Incidentally, both are Sony BMG artists while Chou is from Alfa Music.

Chinked-Out is a new musical style created by Wong, which blends Chinese traditional music with western Hip-hop rhythms. It was featured on Wong's first Chinked-Out album, "Shangri-La".
Wong continues to incorporate the Chinked-Out style in the second album. He blends in the musical elements of Peking Opera and Kun Opera, to bring the musical elements onto the international stage.
Wong was caught up in the charm of Peking Opera in the film, "Farewell My Concubine", at the age of 16. And his father then deeped influence of it on him by showing him the video of the opera.
His success in combining the music elements of Chinese and Western cultures raises the music to a whole new level.
Wong also adds eastern elements to the cover of the album which is based on Hip-hop imagery. The new look helps him to express the concept of his music.

"Bulls---! I don’t know him (Yen) and never met him. The story is not worth wasting my breath on. Some media have no professional standards. No truth at all. I’m very disappointed,” said Wang during a press conference for his new album in Beijing.
The story goes back to popular Taiwanese Much TV host Emi Lee. Last week, she claimed on her TV program that some Taiwan tabloid journalists had taken intimate photos of Yen and Wang when the couple was traveling in Japan. Lee said Yen had paid 60 million new Taiwan dollars (US$1.81 million) not to print the pictures. After that, Lee’s claims were published in Taiwan’s newspaper China Times in a full page questioning of 29-year-old Wang’s sexual orientation.
The first outraged person was not Wang or Yen, but Lee. She insisted that the China Times garbled her remarks. “I had said in my program that Yen and Wang’s affair was totally gossip,” said Lee. She insisted that she never mentioned the Japan trip. “Tabloid reporters should not use another person to say what they really want to say.”
On Thursday, Wang held a press conference in Taiwan to clarify the rumors, including his sexual orientation. He confirmed that he would take legal action against Lee and her program. “I will sue all of them. Why didn’t they ask me before doing the program?” said Wang. As to Yen, one of his colleagues said: “Mr. Yen doesn’t know Wang at all. He has nothing to say about the funny news.”
After the press conference, Lee apologized to both Yen and Wang, saying that the TV station will soon take legal action against the irresponsible reporting of China Times. Wang’s label Sony BMG also had its lawyer release a statement Saturday saying it will sue Era Co., owner of Much TV, the China Times, and any party involved in the slander, demanding 10 million new Taiwan dollars each from Era Co. and the newspaper. In the world of show biz sex tidbits, R&B singer Wang is rarely mentioned in any liaison.

Leehom, the descent of the dragon had his concert in Las Vegas Caesars Palace on Christmas day. Leehom also used this time to see his family and friends.This is Leehom's first concert in America and he chose the place where most Chinese people like to visit- Las Vegas. He performed in the famous Caesars Palace where Celine Dior and Stevie Wonder performed before. He began the show with "Hello, Las Vegas!" and the audience were so high and sang along his songs and some stood up from their seats while others ran to the front of the stage and screamed with excitement.
In the 90 minutes of performance, besides singing his own songs, he also sang some Christmas carols. He said "Being able to perform on the stage where my favourite singers have once performed, I feel so honoured and excited. I hope I can bring you the best performance ever." Leehom's charisma and his songs have attracted many local Chinese to come and support him. All 5000 tickets were sold and many people were standing outside the venue hoping to get in.
The night before the concert, Leehom had a family reunion in Las Vegas. His parents and little brother flew from New York to the West coast. Even grandma, his cousins and some college friends flew in from California and drove 4 hours to see him. Leehom said "Its so exciting seeing so many relatives and friends and spending Christmas together!"

UFO radio's top 100 chart was released yesterday. Leehom's Forever Love was the number one for broadcasting, sales, and voting. Jay Chao always come first for most charts, but this year since his album was released in November, he could only make it to 14th in the chart.
Leehom became first and Jolin's "Tian Kong" was 1st runner up. Jay released his album too late in the year so he didn't have enough time to accumulate the scores and came 14th. When UFO presented Leehom with the award, he said "Although I only release an album a year, I am very happy that all the effort I have out into the album has been appreciated."

Stars spend their new years eve with their fans counting down to the new year, but what are their new year resolutions? Leehom manages to get to each concert on time and a little to spare to warm up, however he says this running around is actually quite lonely.
