I read this and it's made me appreciate his songs so much more. So many of his songs are from his heartbreak, and that's why they are all so emotional and heartfelt. I feel really bad for him and after reading this it's made me understand his lyrics more. Now when I listen to his songs, it touches my heart even more.


Wow Leehom is such an awesome guy. It's amazing how much he has sacrificed for his music (http://www.tsinoy.com/forum/newreply.php). Leehom also wrote the song "Forever Love" for this girl because she is getting married. He said that he had mixed feelings when writing that song because he was sad that she was getting married because that meant she was leaving him forever, but he was also happy for her because he was glad she had finally found her happiness.

A Person who Speaks through Songs.



A few days before I was on the phone with Leehom, I had actually spared time to go meet his friend from college, Stefan.

We talked about many things that happened to Leehom in college. And probably as a result of this homework I was doing, he was able to recall many good memories from college, the more we talked, the happier we became, and I think because of my sincerity and diligence, I had also won his trust.

"Actually, the thing I have most difficulty understanding, is Leehom's love-life. He never seemed willing to speak about it. Is it cause he has been wounded by love before?" I asked very sincerely, hoping that Stefan would be able to help me from this confusion.

"Wounded? I don't think it was like that. You can't ever force love between a couple......, but I know he truly loved that one girl, and was once deeply hurt by her." he thought for a moment, and said, "Out of all the guys I have met, Leehom is the most dedicated[attached] lover, his love, was extremely focused[intense] and loyal." Then he shook his head, "That long distance relationship, went for five years......, they actually really loved each other, but in the end, they still chose to breakup, we all felt what a great pity it was for them......."

"How did they meet each other? I asked.

"We were classmates in WilliamsCollege. In first year, we all chose to study chinese and thus met. Actually she was from the year above us, she was a half asian, half american, but couldn't speak chinese." He smiled slightly, as he recalled.

"From the beginning I could see that Leehom really liked her. She was very beautiful, and was a bit mischievous, and especially liked to tease[play] with Leehom. Afterwards when we knew each other better, she told me that she has no interest in learning chinese, but because Leehom was also studying chinese, she then also became excited at the thought of learning it."

"What happened afterwards?" I anxiously asked.

"Afterwards......" He smiled again, "Leehom, who wasn't good at expressing himself verbally, decided to write a song for her. Have you heard his song 'Last Night'? Leehom wrote this song for her......", He immediately recited aloud, gently, as though he were reciting a love poem, "Last night I watched you sleep as you lay there. I dropped down to my knees and said a prayer. I leaned over softly to kiss your beautiful face. But I could not cross the ocean of your grace."


"Last Night is also my most favourite song that Leehom has ever composed!" I said excitedly. I shared with him this profound image that would appear in my mind when I first listened to this song: A shy, innocent guy, admiring the girl's face, as she falls asleep under the moonlight, only daring to bend down and gently kiss her forehead, and then kneeling beside her, would express to God the feelings he felt for her - - Only if you have experienced this feeling in real life, can you write such innocent lyrics, where the words will start to speak but hesitate, to you."

"The song must've moved her heart, right?" I said.

"They actually already had good feelings for each other, they chose the same classes in the day, at ngiht, they would do homework together, and naturally they became really good friends. Leehom's 'Zai Mei Yi Miao Li, Dou Xiang Jian Dao Ni' and 'As long as I have you' were both written for her!"

He suddenly jumped up, "Do you know Leehom's songs well? All his stories about his love and feelings, are actually written into his own songs!"

I've listened to many of Leehom's song, the emotional and sincere[impassioned] works, but I never knew, that these were actually Leehom's own heartfelt experiences and stories.

"The summer holidays of Leehom's second year in college, was the first time they'd been seperated, since they started going out. Written in Leehom's 'Dream Again' is the feelings of how much they missed each other as they were separated in two different countries."

“I have not seen my Baby in so long .But I can feel her in this song…”

As he sang, this time, my heart followed with the song's beat, along the memories, as if I had entered the song's time tunnel......"

"But real love, should be able to withstand these tests." I said

"Yeh. There wasn't acutally any problem during this time. In the summer holidays of 96', the album Leehom released in Taiwan suddenly made him popular, so the record company decided to make him come back in the winter holidays to promote it, so as to build his popularity. 'Hao Xiang Ni' - He spent that year's thanksgiving in Taiwan recording, and had to spend Christmas and New Year's in Taiwan promoting. So then, Leehom couldn't spend any of that year's summer or winter holidays with her."

"Did she really mind?" I asked.

"Even though she was not happy inside, each time Leehom came back to school from Taiwan, they'd still make up and be all good again."

He suddenly thought of something, and continued to speak: "But in the summer holiday's of 97', she had an outburst, because she was going to go on a holiday to celebrate graudation. Her fellow graduating classmates had planned a trip to Europe, and of course, she really wanted Leehom to go with her, and we knew that Leehom also really wanted to go with her too. He tried to ask his record company for a holiday leave, but they wouldn't allow it. Even though we were only third year college students, us group of friends also went along to Europe with the graduating students to have fun, while Leehom stayed in Taiwan, alone, working. We all knew that Leehom really wanted to come with us to Europe, but he was forced to stay in Taiwan, by himself, and work.

I thought of that kind of mood......., and I couldn't not admit that, if I was the record ompanies boss, I probably wouldn't have permitted the holiday leave application - - Because the production of an album, from producing to promotion, is all in a short period of three months, which is almost not even enough, how could there be the possibility that I would still let the singer take holiday leave?

"During the trip to Europe, you guys must've been so happy." I said, since there's so many beautiful places there.

"It was really fun! Even though during the trip, there were times where I could feel that she was really unhappy, because she could not accept the fact that Leehom put work in a more important position then her. But when the holiday ended, she still went back to Williams."

"So then she still loves Leehom." I let out a sigh of relief.

"Yes! Even though she studied business, she still didn't leave to work in the big cities after she graduated, but instead, she chose to stay in the town of Williams to work, so that she could be with Leehom."

"Isn't that very good then?" I continued to ask.

"It was good and not good in a way. Because once these summer holidays ended, Leehom returned from Taiwan, and went straight to beginning to write and plan his graduation thesis. At that time, we were fourth year college students and had alot of homework. We didn't think it would be any different, but she had already graduated. In the day she'd work, but in the evenings she had nothing to do, and consequently, she certaintly hoped Leehom would accompany her."

"The problem started during this period of time?" I felt a kind of sad apprehension.

"More or less! Each day we'd go back to our dormitories, and we'd all go into Leehom's room, to listen to what kind of new music he had composed during that day. In the beginning we would see her, but time went on, we saw her less and less, and in spring, we heard that she had found a new job in the city and was leaving Williams."

"Leehom must have felt really bad." I said.

"Actually, at the time, Leehom felt that it would still be good, because he had confidence in this relationship.. he was devoted, one and only, to her. Each day they would speak two, three times on the phone, Leehom had even looked into the long term, and felt that she would have more chances of development/promotion, working in the large companies in the city. She studied business and he didn't want to tie her down in the small town of Williams."

"I know. " I pensively replied. I had already asked Leehom that question - - This came from Leehom.

"Feelings from the heart when I had returned from Taiwan to college in 97'.", in this Broadway musical, was a story about a idol singer and his love.

"Leehom's graduation thesis, musical 'The Bite That Burns' obtained unprecedented success after the final performance, and during the celebration feast, everyone was very excited and really happy. Only Leehom was doleful and dejected......., We knew that he really wanted her to come, so he could share his success and joy, but in the end, she never came......, We all felt broken-hearted for Leehom."

"Love problems/matters..... outsiders can only accompany in sharing the pain, but it is still hard for us to know who/what was right or wrong." I said.

"I know when she was leaving Williams, she once asked Leehom to choose between her or music, Leehom isn't one of those who are dishonest/decietful and speak sweetened words, he said she loved her and music equally, both were long-term and eternal......, he could not choose one, or let go of one."

"This fool that cannot speak/express himself properly." I said, grapsing my wrist. At the same time, I thought what Leehom must've felt then, being both a student and singer, he'd have been doing several things at the same time and must've been loaded with work......., many singers decide to give up on their studies, however, Leehom not only finished his formal education, but he also handed over an excellent school reportas well. But who wold know that behind the scenes, Leehom had made such a big scarifice.

"How did this romance end?" I asked.

"I think at that time, neither of them wanted to give up on their love and relationship. Both seemed like they were trying their best, in 1998, after we graduated, we all moved on, and headed off on our own roads. That summer holiday, Leehom went back to Taiwan to release his album and in September, he went to Boston's Berklee College Music to continue his studies. Amongst us group of good friends, a few of us had also found jobs in Boston and had moved there, but I went to New York. In 1999, I went to Boston to visit them, and we met up at Leehom's apartment. We unintentionally got to the topic of Leehom's love life - - He didn't say anything, only played the song 'Mary Says' from the files off his computer......."

But in turn, it was Leehom who then comforted us, saying that he felt she would definitely came back to his side. I was very excited that she'd be coming. 'Of course it's true!' Leehom said enthusiastically. 'She said she already bought the plane ticket, and will tell me her plane arrival time when she knows, and said that I have to go to the airport to meet her.' Leehom very happily told me."

When I heard this, I felt a moment of joy in my heart, it was really good.

"On the day of the wedding reception, our whole group of friends arrived, and went through the doors to the great hall. We saw a beautiful table that was decorated with many fresh flowers and each guest's 'name card' -- Apart from the guest's name, the 'name card' also had the table number and seat information on it. Us group of friends were specially arranged to sit on the same table. But in the end, Leehom was to be disappointed."

"After dinner finished, some guests began dancing enthusiastically, I unintentionally walked pass the 'name card' table. Leehom stood beside the table, staring pensively at it, completely oblivious to my existence next to him."

" 'Something must have suddenly came up, that's why she couldn't come.' I could only comfort Leehom this way. I then lightly patted his shoulder, and couldn't think of anything else to say. 'I also thought that. ' Leehom said feebly, as he took up the 'name card' and placed it in the pocket of his suit. At this moment, I could feel his weakness......"

"He is a really attached lover." I said.

"Yes! He was so attached that he still hugged onto that hopefulness that she would come back to his side, even though he knew she had already accepted love from someone else." He agreed to my sighs, and said: "In his 2000 album, once I heard the song 'Gao Shu Wo Ni Hai Ai Shei', I realised that there was no way their love could be saved....... But what made me really feel bad was another song on the same album 'Yong Yuan De Di Yi Tian' -- He still dreamt of that moment, of going to the airport and meeting her, and how that day would be forever's first day......."

I listened to his discription, and couldn't say anthing, there was something in my heart intertwining...... The story seemed to have ended, but what about the feelings of missing a person? Those feelings had only continued to grow.....

"In 2001's 'Wei Yi', after awakening that morning and then taking a stroll on the sandy beach, 'Has a star changed its heart, the desires from before have all been abandoned. Recently, I've been finding it hard to breathe, I even want to avoid my own shadows. Baby, you are my only one, both worlds have changed heart, going back is easier said then done' It is like Leehom was writing about his footprints that were left on the sandy beach, still keeping in his life, the fond memories and not letting go, to the point he was not able to get over his emotions in his desolation......"He sighed and said.

"I know Leehom never blamed her, during many incidents, he was actually very protective, always considerate of her feelings. He believed that he did not spend enough time with her, but he could make up for this, as long as he showed he truly loved her and was sincere, then she would definietly be touched. He believed that long relationships, are shared/enjoyed by the mind through giving your heart out, truly. Only too bad it didn't happen this time......we also felt regret for them, because she actually still loved him, but she just couldn't accept a boyfriend that would often not be by her side, and from this, I understood, in Leehom's heart, the feelings of 'Liang Ge Ren Bu Deng Yu Wo Men'." He said.

I extremely liked that song, "In the empty room there is no sound of replies, but your fingerprints are in my memory. Me and you, two people don't equal us......", the first time I listened to it, my heart felt so wretched I cried.

"'After all it was only too short a love, finally we both returned to being strangers'" --After I heard this song, I finally knew that Leehom had let go of this love......, turning into a kind of tranquility and quiescence, becoming this song with an experience, to be shared and listened by all. " He said.

"In this song, we can also hear our own stories." I said, it really was so touching.

"If there wasn't this real and heartbreaking love experience , then there wouldn't be such a touching song."--I originally wanted to say this, but then gulped it down.

Trying/practice and creating, will always be a composer's reason and product, and what is reason itself, what is the product itself? Destiny frequently works in contrary to what is expected, apart from smiling, we should learn to accept-- If we were always given the right to choose, then why would we have needed to pray for a perfect result.

Destiny will always create some things that are very difficult for us to go back to again.

The significance in these songs are sublimated at this time, not soley is it to touch the listener, but even more precious is the Leehom after so many years-- a person used to speaking through songs, certaintly also uses songs to listen and hear......, this worthwhile and precious love, is in fact, not the composer's reason or product, but is the sincere proof. And we are willing to follow and take it out again, to carefully reminisce.

In fact, each song has its own elements of both happiness and blessings.

Weng: thanks talaga sa help re flower basket. ang ganda-ganda..simple but elegant..kung hindi dahil sa'yo di matutuloy yung plan na yun..muaaaah!

okay lang kahit di tayo nabanggit ni lee hom sa concert. umpisa pa lang yan. siguro naman naalala nya rin tayo dahil sa flower basket at sa flag na ginawa ni bing. waaaah kahit di nakarating sa'yo yung jeep (asan na kaya yun???!#@!$#!@)..sayang at di pala nya kinanta yung ni bu zai..huhu favorite ko pa naman yun..

haaaay affected ako sa story ng lovelife ni lee hom. sana matagpuan na nya yung girl na karapat-dapat na mamahalin syang talaga.

Leehom Avoids Rumors with Shu Qi

Yesterday WANG LI-HONG returned to Taiwan to promote for Sony Ericcson's latest edition. Leehom looked extremely exhausted and his face obviously looked thinner than before. After the press conference, Leehom said that he was in a hurry to catch the flight back to Hong Kong and quickly left, afraid that the media would ask more questions about rumors between him and SHU QI.

Leehom appeared in casual clothing to the press conference while wearing a dark cap, to prevent his hairstlye for "SE, JIE (Lust, Caution)" to be exposed. He also lost 6 pounds. He said, "Recently I've been an early bird, waking up as well as sleeping early. The reason why I'm getting skinnier is not because I'm tired, but because it is a requirement for the movie." Leehom is also currently practicing his speech. He said, "I really need to try my best. I need to have precise pronunciation in my speech. I'm also having stict training for this. Before I always thought that will be an obstacle that will be hard to overcome. It still is, but I'm trying - I need to fix my ABC accent."

A while back, the paparazzi caught Leehom talking on his phone during filming hours on set. Again, Leehom strongly denied that he was chatting on the phone. He said that he was using his phone to help him memorize his lines for the movie. After Leehom finished the short electronic press conference, he was in a hurry to catch with his 4:00 flight back to Hong Kong. He refused to accept his interview to be a regular press conference and instead he communited through the media electronically. After the short interview, he immediately left. According to sources, Leehom was originally leaving Taiwan to Hong Kong at the 8:00 flight at night instead of the 4:00 flight. Sony BMG stepped up to clear this mislead assumption and said that because there was a customer who needed to do some recording, Leehom had to postpone his flight.

The media also asked Sony BMG about Leehom's rumors with Shu Qi. Was the man that appeared at Shu Qi's apartment really Leehom? Sony BMG said that they will not reply to prevent further mislead information.

LEEHOM IS THE KING OF ADVERTISEMENTS

Recently WANG LI-HONG (Leehom Wang), along with LEUNG CHIU-WAI (Tony Leung), is filming for LI AN'S (Ang Lee) new movie, "SE, JIE (Lust, Caution)." However in the past few months, Leehom has been secretly kicking out Tony, becoming the famous shampoo brand, HEAD AND SHOULDER's, new spokesperson. This caused Leehom's advertising revenue to accumulate to over $130,000,000, becoming advertising king along with ZHOU JIE-LUN (Jay Chou). However in this comercial, Leehom just earned $15,000,000 TW and did not beat Tony the year before, who earned $1,000,000 US (about $33,000,000 TW).

To have charming features to appear on screen, the manufactures of the company invited a Swedish director for the advertisement. In the comercial Leehom was constantly splahsed with wather and had his hair constantly blowing, making it difficult for Leehom to keep his eyes open.

This year Leehom completed 10 advertisements. His advertisements ranged from cars, food, clothing, as well as from cell phones to video games. Leehom also spoke for skin-care products and in total Leehom earned $130,000,000, and can be compared with Jay Chou. Leehom is throned as this year's advertisement king for all of CHKTW. (China, Hong Kong, Taiwan).

As for advertisment queen, this throne is defintely pointing toward CAI YI-LIN (Jolin Tsai). Jolin earned about $1,050,000 US (about $35,000,000 TW) being as LUX's spokesperson in nine regions of Asia. Other advertisements includes for cola, motorcycles, jewelry, fast foods, contact lenses, video games as well as for other accessorries. Jolin was in a total of 9 advertisements, and the total income was $144,000,000.

After the release "GAI SHI YING XIONG (Heroes of Earth)" at the end of last year, Leehom will not be planning to release an album this year, he is currently focusing on his new movie.

A NEW ENGLISH SINGLE

Leehom and the mobile phone industry released a new English single called "As Time Goes By" for the Sony Ericsson 850i phone and will only be exclusive as a ringtone.

This song is originally the theme song for the movie Casablanca. Leehom says that this song prefectly contradicts with his recent movie, Lust, Caution, because the movie takes place around the same time era as the song, which is the 1930s as well as the spark of World War II.

"Lust, Caution" Begins Filming in Shanghai
Monday November 13, 2006 Shanghai

Yesterday afternoon, Oscar winning director LI AN (Ang Lee) and his Lust, Caution crew arrived in Shanghai to prepare for filming. Several days ago, male and female leads LEUNG CHIU-WAI (Tony Leung), TANG WEI, WANG LI-HONG (Leehom Wang) and CHEN CHONG (Joan Chen) all arrived individually, Leehom being the first one to arrive so the production could be prepared earlier. Once they arrived in Shanghai, Ang Lee and his production crew held a meeting to discuss the upcoming scenes and preperations, planning to tour around the studio for some thoughts, and will officially film the movie at the 15th.

"SE, JIE (Lust, Caution)" is the first Chinese-language film Ang Lee is directing after his two American movies, The Hulk and Brokeback Mountain, the latter winning him the Best Director Award at the Oscars. Ang Lee has been careful and wise in cast scouting, which includes the movie king and queen Tony Leung and Joan Chen, amatuer actress Tang Wei, and popular singer Leehom Wang. Just by hearing these four names has attracted global attention even before Ang Lee officially started filming the movie. From filming their first several scenes in Malaysia, and then to China's Hong Kong, the Lust, Caution crew has finally landed on their third and most important filming spot - Shanghai. Ang Lee has been very thoughtful and showed his true efforts to prepare for this movie - he personally organized the scenery as well as supervised the cast scouting. When Ang Lee and his crew arrived in Shanghai the day before, he immediately held a meeting with his production crew to discuss about the upcomings of the film as well as discussing about the important scenes they will soon film in Shanghai, such as the "Nanjing Road" and Wang Jiazhi's house.

"Wang Jiazhi" Tang Wei, "Mr. Yee" Tony Leung, "Kuang Yu Min" Leehom Wang and "Mrs. Yee" Joan Chen both individually arrived in Shanghai in the past few days as well as staying at four completely different hotels to prevent media curiosity. They also seldomly went out.

According to sources, besides Wang Jiazhi's house, they will also film a scene with over 600 people in Shanghai.

The battle between the Golden Horse Awards and the Asia-Pacific Film Festival (APFF) over which will be the most star-studded event is intensifying as the award ceremonies approach.

National treasure Ang Lee, however, showed off his diplomatic skills by declining invitations from both events, saying that he was both mentally and physically spent, and that his latest film project Lust, Caution is far behind schedule.

According to gossip observers writing in the Liberty Times (the Taipei Times' sister paper), Lee is paying for his bold decision to work with a group of young and inexperienced actors such as ABT pop idol Wang Lee-hom and Ke Yu-lun, who have so far failed to live up to the director's high expectations and need extra training in order to give presentable performances.

While Lee's mission to elevate local actors onto the world stage seems to have become an obstacle to his film, local pop diva A-mei is successfully continuing her quest to promote her tribe's culture....

The rumored romance between Shu Qi and Chang Chen that budded during the shooting of Three Times last year is back on the front pages of the gossip rags as the two have paired up for Blood Brothers, a film produced by John Woo, and are said to often sneak out for secret trysts after a hard day's work.

Ang Lee Serves Leehom Warm Tea
Monday November 20, 2006 Shanghai

For the past few days, Leehom's performance throughout the filming production had made Ang Lee smile with delight. As production dragged on, both Ang Lee and Leehom's friendship deepened. Yesterday Leehom had some free resting time in his hands because there were not many scenes that he had to film. Therefore, when it was not his turn to film, he would rest at a corner. Because yesterday the weather was really cold and Leehom's costume was really thin, he stood in a corner shaking with his hands crossed to keep his body warmer. When Ang Lee saw the cold Leehom, he immediately rushed to him and brought him a thermos bottle with hot tea to keep him warm. The hospitality of the director had scared Leehom. Leehom felt flattered and repeatedly thanked him.

Around two thirty in the afternoon, Tang Wei appeared to the public for the first time and went to the public barber shop to wash her hair so she could prepare for the next scene. It was hard to find this barber shop because it is extremely rare to find one in a small ancient town, where they were shooting their major scenes.

As Tang Wei entered the barber shop, the whole crew followed her and closed the door, telling the people to not come in to protect Tang Wei's privacy. Local people became surprised and many of them tried to peak through the window of the shop, fighting to see which famous celebrity was washing her hair inside.

Yesterday they filmed four scenes. The first scene involved Tang Wei, and the scenes with both Tang Wei and Leehom were in the third shoot.

The scene with Tang Wei yesterday was just about Tang Wei riding a rickshaw by herself, and she had no lines to talk.

The last scene invovled Leehom and Tang Wei, and it was also a really simple shoot. Leehom, wearing a long Chinese dress, stands in front of a store holding a basket. As he sees his girlfiend Tang Wei running towards him, he pulls Tang Wei to a nearby book store.

<<Superstars>> Photo Exibition
Leehom's picture will be displayed

After witnessing on tv the effects of the Sumatra-Andaman earthquake back in December 2004, Leslie Kee (a famous photographer in HK i'm assuming) will be exhibiting a gallery of celebrity photos called SUPERSTARS in HK which took him 2 years to photograph. This exhibition is in collabration with izzue.com ( a clothing shop in HK) and is a fundrasing event. There are 7000 copies of this photobook distributed around the world, costing about $300 USD each. All procceeds will go to charity.

A photograph of LEEHOM will be on display along with artists such as: Sammi Cheung, Aaron Kwok and Shu Qi

Funny Boy Look

Having been in the business for 11 years now, Leehom returned to Taiwan from USA in 1995 and released his first album <Rival Beethoveen>, starting with a "big boy" look, he had satisfying response from ppl, but people wonder where this ABC was from and why he deserved to release a cd.

"Thinking back to my "big boy" appearance, i find it very funny now. But at that time, i didn't think too much, I just did what others told me to do. It's not like I didn't like it, but being a new artist, i didn't know anything, what else could i have done? Now that I have more experience, I have the right to say that i want to change! I still remember, when my 1st cd came out, I wasn't in taiwan and so all my songs and mvs were made in the states. My 1st cd came out without any promotion."

When i say change, things changed

When I was a newbie, I was controlled by others. But when i'm famous, I can make my own decisions. This is the rule of the business. Leehom understand this rule and so he has always worked hard to balance between the market & music. He doesn't just want to sell his appearance, but also his hard work.

"After working in his businness for over 10 yrs, I know that the record company needs to make money, but to me, creating good music is a necessity. I also experienced the times when I made 2 albums in a year, but now, I only release cds with the best of the best songs in them. I absolutely need my freedom in music, and I am willing to listen to my record company for other things. I'm really happy that my record company really supports my music, like these few years, I combined R&B with eastern elements. At first, I didn't know if everyone will like it, but i HAD to try. I have to constantly change, it's like my purpose in life, I have to introduce asian and western music to every corner of the earth."

Born & raised in the states, Leehom's family status was quite wealthy. At least he had a worry-free lifestyle and whatever he wanted, he got. But he didn't let his background spoil him or make him egotistic.. was he really that good of a kid?

"My family was strict and I never really wanted to be rebellious. I loved music since i was young, I started learning violin in elementary school. I still remember always performing my violin infront of relatives & friends. Until highschool, university, i still wanted to go to a performing arts school. At that time, I was invovled in many plays and i sang soprano, you know the really art-sy kind? I used to want to become a violinist when i grew up, but under some coincidence, i came back to TW to release a cd."

People always put attention on Leehom's music, but acutally he studied performing arts and hoped to become like Jacky Cheung one day performing boardway shows. Ever since 6 years ago when he played a character in <china strike force>, he didn't make anymore asian films. He really wants to act again.

"I hope to have an opportunity to act, like in boardway shows, since i studied it in NY! When i was in university, I wrote a boardway show in english, I hope to write one in Chinese."

Q: If you spend so much time in acting, does that mean you won't have time to write a new album?

"Writing a broadway show takes a long time, but it's fun, becuase you're not only writing songs for yourself, but for other singers. Right now I'm invovled in the making of the show, the production and will choose actors along with the director of hte show. Hopefully it will be finished by next year because this show is the theme of my next album."

Leehom's been in the business for 11 years and has released 11 albums at the end of every year, hopefully the broadway show won't mess up the pattern. Leehom hopes to act in a broadway show like <if love> where the bad & good characters are all creative & memorable.

Loves to be down-to- earth

Leehom has been very brave in his music but in his love life, he doesn't seem to be so. Ever since he stepped into the industry, he has only revealed one girlfreind, Ms White, who appeared in his <Rival Beethoveen> MV.
" My 1st love was my classmate when I was studying in the states. When I stepped into the business, I had another girlfriend, but i was working in TW and she was in USA. That relationship was really hard so at the end we seperated. When she got married, I also attended her wedding and saw her blessed face. I was happy for her. "Forever Love" was a song which i wrote for her. As for the other gossips, I really don't want to talk about it. I just want people to focus on my music. I just want to live my personal life personally!"

But men are supposed to get married at 30 years old, Leehom is 30 this year and if he gets married, will he tell us?
"If i'm getting married, I'll tell you guys, but when i'm dating, i don't find the need to expose it to everyone. I think once I've dated to a certain point where I want to get married, I'll tell you guys."

Q: Aren't you afraid that your fans will be unhappy?

A: " If one day I get marriend and have kids, with my own family life, I think my fans will be happy for me! If I get to that day that is...."

Oscar-winning director Ang Lee says he feels sorry having caused traffic jams in Shanghai when shooting his new film "Lust, Caution."

The Brokeback Mountain director made an apology on New Year's Eve when he attended an activity at a local television station, saying he felt sorry for having brought inconvenience to Shanghai citizens. Lee also wished them a Happy New Year.

The plot of "Lust, Caution" is based on a short story by the late Chinese writer Eileen Chang. The film stars new actress Tang Wei, Hong Kong veteran Tony Leung and Chinese-American singer Leehom Wang.

Ang Lee has been heading the crew's work in Shanghai for the past two months, and reportedly plans to wrap up shooting by the end of January.

WANG LI-HONG (Leehom Wang), who did not attend to Friday's "Shanghai Countdown 2007" function, finally revealed himself yesterday afternoon at the conference. Regarding about any questions that will be about Leehom's latest movie, "SE, JIE (Lust, Caution)", he would martly dodge the questions, preventing any hints and clues to be exposed to the public. He even wisely wore a large cap to the conference to prevent his hairstyle for "Lust, Caution" to be revealed. However, besides "Lust, Caution", Leehom revealed that next year he will be planning to direct a new musical, hoping that it will give a refreshing new feeling to his fans of his music.

WORKING WITH ANG LEE IS A HUGE BLESSING

Leehom, who will appear in tonight's countdown ceremony, was asked what was the most sentimental event he has done over the year. Leehom quickly replied and said that filming "Lust, Caution" was his most memorable project. He also joked and said that because of "Lust, Caution" he already "lived" in Shanghai for almost half a year. Leehom also proudly said that LI AN (Ang Lee) is the person that he wants to give the most thanks to. "He is really a great director, a multi-talented genius. He's really my teacher. Being able to work with him for almost a whole year is really the best blessing for me of 2006. I've learned a lot from him."

Leehom also revealed that Ang Lee has given the production crew a vacation so they could attend to tonight's countdown ceremony to see Leehom perform. When asked if Ang Lee will attend, Leehom said, "Don't know."

CLEARS UP "LUST, CAUTION" RUMORS

At the conference, when mentioning anything that regards "Lust, Caution", Leehom immediately tried to avoid it. When asked what was the proudest thing he did or performed while filming "Lust, Caution", Leehom pretended to act confused: "We're still not done filming yet. I can't really say which performance in the movie is my best and which was the worst. If any of my scenes will be cut in the film, then it will be funny to even talk about it."

When a reporter asked if it was true about how during the production of the movie Leehom failed to meet the director's requirements and it slowed down the shooting process, causing Ang Lee to be very mad, a spokesperson from the management immediately shot up to reply to the question, but Leehom spoke up the answer quickly. However, he cleverly chose his words and did not reveal anything about the contents of the movie: "About this... well, all I can say is that we all tried our best. This movie is still in production. After it is released you will see all the effort we have put for. As for questions regarding how well I performed in the movie, I want to answer this after the movie has been premiered. Then you can also ask Ang Lee about our performance throughout the film. I do believe that at that time the audience will have already seen the movie and will have their own judgement."

After witnessing on tv the effects of the Sumatra-Andaman earthquake back in December 2004, Leslie Kee (a famous photographer in HK i'm assuming) will be exhibiting a gallery of celebrity photos called SUPERSTARS in HK which took him 2 years to photograph. This exhibition is in collabration with izzue.com ( a clothing shop in HK) and is a fundrasing event. There are 7000 copies of this photobook distributed around the world, costing about $300 USD each. All procceeds will go to charity.

A photograph of LEEHOM will be on display along with artists such as: Sammi Cheung, Aaron Kwok and Shu Qi

During a special ticket launch yesterday at Berjaya Times Square here, it was announced that tickets priced at RM53, RM183 and RM263 for the March 3 concert had already sold out.

The remaining categories are priced at RM73, RM123, RM153 and RM363.

The American-born singer best known for songs like Crying Palm, Impossible to Miss You and Descendant of the Dragon, as well as his signature brand of ‘chinked-out’ music – has already performed in China, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong and North America.

Malaysia will be the last stop in his world tour.

Ang Lee and three leads of Lust, Caution faced the press people for the first time yesterday at the newly constructed set inside Shanghai Film Studios. The set is a replica of Shanghai's Nanjing Rd. W. during the 1940s. Based on Eileen Chang's same name story, which was inspired by a real event, Lust, Caution tells about a young woman assigned to seduce and assassinate an intelligence officer working for the Japanese puppet government in Shanghai. After realizing she had fallen in love with the man, she did something she was not suppose to do. Little known mainland Chinese actress Tang Wei plays the young woman, Hong Kong veteran Leung Chiu-Wai plays the intelligence officer and New York-born pop singer Wang Lee-Hom plays a comrade of the young woman. During the early days of shooting, Lee was worried about whether Tang and Wang would be able to get their performance right. Now he is more worried about whether the newly built set would be authentic enough to recreate the old Shanghai. Principle shooting will end earlier next month and the theatrical release will come by August.

In film-related news, the international press got a chance to take the first peep at what has been going on with Ang Lee and his Lust, Caution last Sunday in Shanghai. The highly anticipated film will wrap up shooting next month. The slim director was accompanied by principle actors Tony Leung, Wang Lee-hom and Tang Wei, all of whom had undergone diets for the picture.

Appearing emaciated himself, the director reportedly lost his temper on the set several times and admitted that Wang needed extra training at the beginning of the shoot but had caught up with the rest of the cast soon enough.

Lee-Hom Wong became the biggest winner among the male signers in the13th Chinese Music Awards ceremony on Thursday night, picking up three awards in total.

The 13th Chinese Music Awards ceremony has been held in the Shanghai Grand Theater, featuring the best-selling artists from the Chinese mainland as well as Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Lee-Hom Wong became the biggest winner among the male signers in the ceremony on Thursday night, picking up three awards in total, including the Most Popular Male Signer Award (Hong Kong and Taiwan), the Best Composing Artist award (Hong Kong and Taiwan), and also the Most Popular Song of the Year award for his popular piece "Da Cheng Xiao Ai" or "Big City, Small Love".

Taiwan singer Angela Zhang took away two awards, including the Most Popular Female Singer Award (Hong Kong and Taiwan) and the Song of The Year Award (Hong Kong and Taiwan).

The Best Male Singer Award (Hong Kong and Taiwan) went to Eason Chan. The Hong Kong star also took away the Song of The Year Award (Hong Kong and Taiwan). The Best mainland Singer Award was given to Zhang Jingxuan.

The Best Female Singer Award (Hong Kong and Taiwan) was taken by Taiwan pop queen A-Mei Chang Huimei. And Jin Hai Hsin was awarded best female singer in Chinese mainland.

The Best Band Award respectively went to Taiwan band May Day and mainland band the Flowers. Mainland signer Li Huizhen was awarded the most popular female singer, and actor-cum-singer Chen Kun received most popular male signer in Chinese mainland. Super Girl Zhou Bichang and Tank got the New Artist Award for Chinese mainland and Taiwan Hong Kong. The Best Composing Artist award for a mainland singer was taken by pop duo Shuimunianhua. They also were awarded best singer group in Chinese mainland, with girl band S.H.E taking the best group award for Taiwan and Hong Kong.

MOVING OF CONCERT DATE, TIME AND VENUE

New date, time, venue: Sunday, 4 March 2007
National Stadium, Bukit Jalil
7:30p.m.

Galaxy Group, the organizer of the concert regrets (bao qian) to announce that the date, time and venue of Lee Hom “Heroes On Earth” World Tour 2007, originally fixed on Saturday, 3rd March at Stadium Merdeka will be moved to Sunday, 4th March at Stadium National, Bukit Jalil, 7:30p.m.


Due to the recent cabinet decision to extensively renovate Stadium Medeka for the 50th Anniversary Merdeka Celebration on 31st August 2007, the venue is no longer available. During this 3 weeks planning, the Organiser have considered other venues such as Putra Indoor Stadium but the concert has sold more than 20,000 tickets, hence cant fit into Putra Indoor Stadium while others are not suitable.
Galaxy Group booked both Merdeka Stadium for Lee Hom and Negara Stadium for Muse World Tour in November 2006 and the latter is already sold out by end-January. Although the band did accept the suggestion of changing to a bigger venue for more audience but we insist to maintain for the convenience of the fans who have bought tickets.


Lee Hom was originally schedule to house maximum of 30,000 crowd but due to the fact that the concert production + seating cannot touch the field of the National Stadium, Lee Hom “Heroes On Earth” World Tour could only now house a maximum crowd of 25,000 audience only. The tickets available now are RM123 and RM353 only while other categories of RM53, RM73, RM153 and RM263 have all sold out.; which also means that only 3,000+ tickets available from now onwards.

In view of the above, the good news is the setting between the stage and the audience seems to be closer proximity that the previous venue and coincidently, 4th March is the Chinese Calendar Valentine’s Day (Yuan Xiao Je) to celebrate with Lee Hom.
However to be fair to fans who have bought tickets but could not make it for the new date on Sunday 4th March, Galaxy Group accepts full tickets refund from now until 2nd March. Those who could make it to the concert can still proceed with the original ticket and no changing of tickets for the new date is required as the seats numbers will remain as per the original tickets.


Lee Hom is being informed and he is rehearsing his dance + vocals in Taipei. Lee Hom is also very excited with Malaysia, his world tour finale that will feature, for the very first time his good friend, JJ Lin as the Superstar Special Guest! Both of them have promised Malaysian fans a never-seen-before surprise collaboration!

my fave songs are his duet with tony bennett "if i ruled the world" and his collaboration with kenny g at a show where he played the piano especially his rendition of "sorry seems to be the hardest word".

the way he can shift from his usual r&b to ballads to jazz makes me admire him so much. actually, "admire" is an understatement. i just can't find the right words to describe how i find this über-talented guy.

Hong Kong pop king Leon Lai is likely to star as the famous Peking opera master Mei Lanfang in Chen Kaige's latest movie.

Besides Leon Lai, it is hoped that actress Zhang Ziyi will take part in the piece. Rumors suggest that Zhang Ziyi may play Meng Xiaodong, another Peking opera performer, and Mei Lanfang's good friend.

The Star Daily carries the report, saying that the complete cast of the film has not yet been published. The paper's own source is a member of the entourage. The man has since been dismissed for letting the news out.

It was planned for the film to start shooting this May, but shooting has been postponed to July or August. Guesses as to the leading roles had begun much earlier.

Some previous reports say that famous actors, including Tony Leung and Lee-Hom Wang had attended auditions for the leading role. But Leon Lai made it because he spent his childhood in Beijing and for this reason, he can speak Beijing dialect.

Mei Lanfang, described as a Peking opera legend, was famous for fulfilling female roles on the stage.

I arrived in Taiwan from Hongkong around 11 PM. And on the way to the immigration, Wang Lee Hom was in front of me. Oh my God, he's so handsome. He was carrying a black back pack with the Dragon G-clef sign. He was also wearing shades and cap.

TAIPEI - Wang Lee Hom is Taiwan's top-earning entertainer, says China Times.

The 30-year-old singer-songwriter, a Chinese American based in Taiwan, made a reported NT$285 million (S$13 million) last year, NT$150 million of it from renewing his contract with music label Sony BMG.

He also went on a concert tour and fronted 10 advertisements, said the report.

Pop princess Jolin Tsai, 26, was second with a reported NT$283 million, ahead of girl group S.H.E with NT$180 million, actor-singer Jay Chou, 28, with NT$170 million and actress-singer Angela Chang, 25, with NT$125 million.

Tsai had a good year, thanks to a NT$120 million contract she signed with Capitol Records.

Among Taiwanese TV hosts, Chang Fei, 55, showed he was still the Variety Big Brother with a reported NT$116 million. Second was Jacky Wu, 44, whose income from hosting was said to have hit NT$100 million. But he had to close down loss-making eateries, the report said.

Ang Lee's "Lust, Caution" to be in Theaters September 28 in both USA and China

Currently Oscar-winning director LI AN (Ang Lee) is busy for the pre-production work for his latest film, "Lust, Caution." Focus Features, its current distribution company, is impatiently announcing that the official release date for "Lust, Caution" in USA will be September 28, 2007. Mainland China's media also grabbed some information about the official release date of the film there, and it is reported that the release date in China will coincide with the release date in USA. Clearly "Lust, Caution" will air in both China and American on September 28, 2007.

The crew behind the movie production explained that "Lust, Caution" is currently finishing post-production work in America, and it cannot be given to the film reviews in time. Therefore a release date could not be confirmed. However, one of the crew members expressed, "'Lust, Caution' will definitely be released on the same date for both America and China. It's estimated that it will be around late September, early October." Nonetheless, it can be certain that the official release date for the film will be in September 28 in both China and America. A recent report also pointed that because Ang Lee is busy with the film, he cannot attend to the 60th Cannes Film Festival in June.

After the award-winning "Brokeback Mountain" and his win for "Best Director" at the Oscars last year, "Lust, Caution" will be his next and first Chinese production after "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon." The film will be based on a short novel written by ZHANG AI LING (Eileen Chang), and it will revolve around a patriotic college student (Wang Jiazhi) who was sent to seduce a Chinese traitor (Mr. Yee), so she can successfully destroy him. Unfortunately, she falls in love with Mr. Yee and she will end up rescuing Mr. Yee instead of pulling him into the assassination trap. Cannes Film King LEUNG CHIU WAI (Tony Leung) will be playing Mr. Yee, newcomer TANG WEI will be playing Wang Jiazhi, and Taiwanese pop singer WANG LI HONG (Leehom Wang) will be playing the second male lead, Kuang Yumin. This film began filming in Malaysia last September, and then ended with its last few scenes in Shanghai last February. Filming took a total of over four months.

Director Ang Lee's latest hit "Lust, Caution" has been confirmed to open this year's Venice Film Festival, domestic portal Sina.com reported.

The film, which started shooting in last year, is based on a short story by Chinese writer Eileen Chang. The work is now undergoing final editing in New York.

Ang Lee's English-language work "Brokeback Mountain" won the Golden Lion at the 62th Venice Film Festival

On Tuesday, another Chinese director, Zhang Yimou, has been invited to chair the jury of the festival.

The 64th Venice Film Festival will kick off on August 29. This year is the 75th birthday of the festival.

"Lust Caution" to Vie at Venice Film Festival

Ang Lee's new film "Lust Caution" has received an invitation to compete for a Golden Lion award at this year's Venice Film Festival in August, Shanghai-based Oriental Morning Post reports.

All the cast members of the film are expected to attend the festival, which begins on August 29.

Earlier reports said the film would not be the festival's opening film since post-production work was not finished yet.

After watching an early un-cut version of the film, sources from Taiwan reveal that the festival's selectors thought "Lust Caution" would turn out as another milestone work by Ang Lee. And they thought the film had strong potential to win an award at the festival.

The director is still in New York working on the film's post-production editing. It is expected to be finished by mid-August.

Marco Muller, director of film festival, also expressed strong interest in another Chinese movie entitled "Sun Also Rises", directed by Jiang Wen.

However, Hong Kong-based Emperor Pictures, one of the film's publishers, told Oriental Morning Post that the festival's movie selectors have already watched "Sun Also Rise", but as yet it has not received a formal invitation to compete in the festival.

Channel V doesn't look much like a music channel these days. Spawned by MTV, its Oedipal relationship with the king of music videos has naturally been a difficult one. It appears to have been resolved in Taiwan by doing something different. It's market is the same, teenagers, but instead of established artists strutting their stuff in endlessly looped photo shoots, Channel V has rediscovered the variety show.

The debonair Blackie hosts Blackie's Teenage Club and manages to be a sexy kind of headmaster to a group of teenage girls without coming off as a pervert. The girls meet celebrities, show off their talents and occasionally release a record or appear at concerts. The kicker is the girls get their big chance to appear on the show but can also be voted off, so it's like an evolving popularity contest. This format has proved so popular, especially among lads in search of fresh eye candy, that Blackie's rumored love interest Fan Wei-chi was tapped last year to produce a show for salivating laddettes as well.

Muofan Bang Bang Tang is a play on words, combining the characters for model, the show's presenter, good and candy on a stick. It features pretty boys with sharp haircuts who perform skits or short song-and-dance routines. They wear pink and purple, Burberry-type tank tops, or shirts and ties. A recent program had S.H.E appearing on the show. Ella did her tomboy act and the Lollipop gang did their cute impressions, down to the hao ke-ai-you inflections previously reserved for girls.

At the fruit tea sponsored Channel V concert a few weeks ago called Le Party (after Le Tea company that sponsored it) Bang Bang Tang was arguably the hit of the night, despite the presence of established stars such as Jolin Tsai and Wang Lee-hom. After an execrable performance from Blackie's Teenage Club Beauties, which included the immortal line "Smile, smile, shiny kiss, waiting for your answer" - even bad Elvis impersonators would have looked good. The Bang Bang Tang boys, however, were energetic, rapped, carried a tune ... and that's enough talent to make anyone happy these days.

For the past few weekends on Channel V we have had repeats of Le Party and endless reruns of Blackie's show. On Saturday and Sunday there were seven chances each day to see the same program. This must be a record. Fourteen opportunities over 48 hours to see identical hour-long programs. It's the same, cheap story of product overload for Bang Bang Tang. The Colorful Lollipop EP comes with a DVD and "footage of the boys' 44 autograph sessions and 99 days of recording and promotion, and self-recorded behind-the-scenes footage." The two Channel V groups are marketing fruit teas (for Le Tea) and Artificial Life is releasing mobile games centered on the two shows. Their dedicated Web site http://www.woo.com.tw/ is said to be generating an average of 28 million page views per month.

Like it or not this is the future: democratic entertainment. Marketing is everything and a celebrity-obsessed culture will provide new faces that appear endlessly on our screens until we're so sick of them they're voted off. We get what we deserve.

Taiwan R&B singer Wong Lee-hom will on July 13 release a "green" album dubbed as "Change Myself".

In the theme of environment protection which will dominate the media early next month during the Live Earth concerts, the new album is an echo to his earlier "green"compilation, "The Earth" released in 1997.

The new single "Fallen Leaves Returns to Roots" have received quite positive feedback recently after playing on Hit FM in Taiwan.

The pop star has recently starred in Ang Lee's latest movie "Lust Caution".

Andy Lau's sperms top the women-want-most list

Hong Kong entertainer Andy Lau has the sperms Chinese women want the most for their babies, a poll conducted by Self magazine found.

The 45-year-old star has beat out younger handsome faces like Brad Pitt and Tony Leung and billionaires such as Bill Gates to top the poll.

To the 1,000 women who, aged from 25 to 35 and taking the poll in 15 different cities, good looking and wealth are both very important to their kids' father. In addition, Lau has proved himself a hardworking man.

US billionaire Bill Gates comes in close on Lau's heels to be second placed while Japanese actor Takeshi Kaneshiron is in the third.

Ang Lee Lusts After World Release

Oscar-winning director Ang Lee's latest work, "Lust, Caution", has been slated for worldwide release on 28 September.

Director Ang Lee is now working on post-production editing, which is expected to be finished by the middle of August. The Shanghai Youth Daily reported on Tuesday.

As a movie adaptation of famed Chinese author Eileen Chang's novel, the film tells of what happened in Shanghai during World War II, and is said to be loosely based on actual events.

A young girl, played by actress Tang Wei, is assigned to seduce a high-ranking intelligence officer, working for the Japanese-controlled puppet government, before leading him into an assassination trap. She later realizes she is in love with the officer, played by Hong Kong actor Tony Leung. The unexpected love affair generates more turmoil.

James Schamus from investor group Focus Features, remarks that the story is "very Asia", and he is confident that Ang Lee can make it a worldwide success.

After more than one year's break, American Chinese singer and actor Lee-Hom Wang's new album "Change My Ways" will be released across Asia on July 13.

He told a press conference on Thursday in Beijing he wanted to take steps to improve the environment, so the plastic CDs feature cardboard packaging.

They will also be sold with a pair of chopsticks made from an apparently sustainable material.

Ang Lee thriller to compete at Venice

Taiwanese director Ang Lee says his new Chinese-language spy thriller Lust, Caution has been invited to compete for the top Golden Lion prize at this year's Venice Film Festival.

The selection comes two years after Lee's gay romance film Brokeback Mountain won the Golden Lion in 2005. It went on to earn Lee an Oscar for best director in 2006.

"They (the Venice festival organisers) invited us to take part in the competition. I think they quite liked the movie. I think they're very happy that I'm returning to Venice after 'Brokeback Mountain,"' Lee said in an interview with the Chinese news website Sina.com.

Footage of the interview was posted on Sina.com Friday.

The addition of Lust, Caution has not been officially announced. This year's festival lineup is due to be released July 26 in Rome. Organisers did not immediately respond to an email seeking confirmation of the movie's inclusion.

Lust, Caution, based on a short story by famed Chinese writer Eileen Chang, is about a group of patriotic students who plot to assassinate the intelligence chief of China's Japan-backed World War II-era government.

It features Cannes best actor winner Tony Leung Chiu-wai, Joan Chen from The Last Emperor, and Chinese-American pop star Leehom Wang.

Lee said that post-production work on the movie was going smoothly, and that he had spent several months editing the film and has moved on to music, dubbing and special effects.

The selection of Lust, Caution helps give this year's Venice Film Festival a distinctly Chinese flavour.

The festival's jury will be chaired by famed Chinese director Zhang Yimou, who made Raise the Red Lantern, The Story of Qui Ju and To Live.

Organisers earlier announced that the John Woo-produced film Blood Brothers will close the festival. The movie is about the breakdown of the friendship between three young men who move to Shanghai from the countryside in the 1930s.

In the Sina.com interview, Lee said he was affected by the dark mood of Lust, Caution.

"I often felt I couldn't escape the story," he said. "Now I'm beginning to detach myself slowly."

He said he had intimidated his actors with his exacting demands. Actor Leung told The Associated Press in March that Lee was one of the toughest directors he has worked with.

"I don't think the actors were scared of me because I'm mean," he said. "I very solemnly set standards for them to follow. They probably felt a lot of pressure. I insisted on meeting those standards."

Lee said Lust, Caution will be released in the US and China around the same time in late September.
