This year, awards were presented in 31 categories, with nominees selected by a 33-member panel of judges from a staggering 6,884 entries.

Hakka and Aboriginal sounds have also risen to prominence at the Golden Melody in recent years. Last year Hakka band Sheng Xiang and Water 3 had seven nominations, winning Best Lyricist, Best Hakka Album and Best Band. Beinan musician Chen Chian-nien also took the best male singer title away from other high-profile contenders such as Wang Lee-hom and Jackie Cheung.

Leehom's finally crowned as "GMA King", two hot girls by his side

http://www.geocities.com/uslhfc/gallery/GMA/LeehomAward2.jpg

During last year's "Golden Melody Awards" (GMAs), Mok Man Wai (Karen Mok) had mispronounced the winner's name, and mistakenly called GMA king Huang Li Xing to Wang Li Hong, causing Wang Li Hong (Leehom) to mistakenly run up on stage, thinking that he had won the award. The environment was extremely embarassing, and ironically, this year's GMAs were once again arranged for Karen to present the "Best Mandarin Pop Male Singer" award, but Leehom had finally managed to grab this honor!

Coming once every year, the GMAs were held two nights ago at Taipei Arena. Last year, during the same award, an extremely hilarious event happened, and that was when "Best Mandarin Pop Male Award" Leehom heard Karen and her hard-to-distinguish Mandarin mistakenly called his own name. He immediately rushed on stage, but in the end it turned out that the winner was actually Huang Li Xing, and the environment was extremely embarssing. This year's award ceremony, Karen once again was arranged to present the same award, and just like last year, she "called" Leehom's name. When Leehom heard his name, the first thing he said as he was praising Karen: "You have such accurate Mandarin!" Afterwards, he used Cantonese and said, "I need to 'hit Karen,' meaning that I need to kiss her!"

Leehom admitted that the embarassment from last year was still etched deeply in his heart, and said, "When I saw Karen, that same awkward feeling came again. Last year's incident had made me embarassed for quite some time. If the award was once again given to me, it would definately be 'adding ice on snow.' I would definately go crazy." Once again being the GMA king for the second time, it wasn't until after he said his speech of thanks when he forgot to thank his mom. He felt really bad and annoyed. Afterwards, he quickly called his mom and thanked her wholeheartedly. Leehom also exposed that he already had his winnings from his award, and he would invite 15 co-workers from his company on a vacation, planning that they would spend at least 500,000 dollars. (Taiwan currency.)

At the after party, the happy Leehom were drinking champagne nonstop, at the same time he also boldly talked about his old rumored girlfriend, Cheung Hui Mei (Amei). Two nights ago, Amei was a guest performer, and Leehom at the same time saw her performance and thought it was brilliant. After the award ceremony, he messaged her, and in the message, he put, "Your performance was great!" But when asked if Amei had replied, Leehom replied sneakily, "Next time you guys ask her by yourself. Asking more than once is the fun part." Famous Taiwan host Tao Jing Ying exposed that Amei still cares a lot about Leehom. During the time when they were announcing the "Best Mandarin Pop Male Singer," Tao Jing Ying told Amei that the winner seemed to be Leehom, Amei became really excited, and constantly said, "Really?"

When Leehom was asked about if his other rumored girlfriend, Shu Qi, send him any text messages to congratulate him, he heaved a deep sigh, thought for several long seconds, and replied with caution, "I received a lot of text messages from my friends." After the after party, Leehom went to a friend's house to celebrate. Unfortunately, some people caught that there were two hot girls sitting in the car. After that, Leehom explained that both of them were his good friends, and he's not afraid of having more rumors.

The 17th Annual GMAs: "The GMA King is really me!" Leehom Wang celebrates.

Leehom Wang and Tanya Chua posing.
http://www.geocities.com/uslhfc/gallery/GMA/Award_Hand2.jpg

The king and queen of this year's Golden Melody Awards are on fire! Because of Mok Man Wai (Karen), who had unclearly pronounced the name of last year's "Best Mandarin Pop Male Singer," led Wang Li Hong (Leehom) to think that it was he who had won the award and mistakenly went up on stage. This time he had taken revenge and happily celebrated his win. Two best friends Chua Jian Ya (Tanya) and Sun Yan Zi (Stephanie) also celebrated together, their tears of happiness dropping endlessly down their cheeks.

Finally being able to be known as the Golden Melody King, Leehom this time was sure that he had not heard wrong, and happily celebrated. Last year, Karen had mispronounced the name and said, "Wang Li Xing," and it turned out to be Huang Li Xing instead of Wang Li Hong. This time, they had arranged Lixing and Karen to present the award to Leehom, causing the three of them to be on the same stage at the same time.

Leehom: "The GMAs Best Mandarin Pop Male Singer. It has been eight years since I last got this award, and also after the embarassing scene from last year, this has made me extremely delighted and happy. But to be from honestly, I am very thankful."

Although the GMA king is happy, he'll never forget about the embarassing scene from last year! Tanya, who had beaten great friends Stephanie and Leong Jing Ru (Fish), and being 11 years in the industry, was finally known as GMA queen, and emotionally accepted her award as Best Mandarin Pop Female Singer.

Tanya: "The GMAs Best Mandarin Pop Female Singer, we will bravely love every second of it."

Chua Mama dressed formally to the after party. Stephanie who had lost to good friend Tanya also celebrated along. It had been a great night for everyone.

Too happy and said the wrong thing? Leehom Wang: "Singers on deck are not my competitors."

Leehom Wang celebrating.
http://www.geocities.com/uslhfc/gallery/GMA/Post4.jpg

Leaving beside the embarassing scene from last year, Wang Li Hong (Leehom) this year had finally grabbed the "Best Mandarin Pop Male Singer" award. The first sentence he said to the two presenters as he got on stage was, "Your mandarin is so accurate!" This proves that the scene from last year is still haunting Leehom's heart. When he went backstage and allowed the photographer to take some photos, he encouraged to take a picture with the winner's list, proving that he is the well deserved Golden Melody King. Looking back at the incident from last year, it must have hurt Leehom's heart very much.

As for this year's award, Leehom backstage didn't say much more words of thanks because he believed that he already thanked everyone he wanted to thank when he was on stage. As the interviewing led to what Leehom thought in his heart, he woodenly said, "I have a totally different feeling compared to last year!" But when he was on stage near the end when he was saying his thanks, he said something that had shocked several people, "I believe that my future competitors won't be the artists on deck (the nominees) but the artists from other countries!" Probably because at that moment Hendel's "Messiah" suddenly roared when he was doing his speech because he was taking too long, or probably because Leehom was too happy that he had accidently said something wrong. Probably what he meant was actually this: "The real competitors are not just the artists on deck, but also the artists from other countries!" If not, Leehom will definately cause an uproar from all the artists in Taiwan!

Leehom Celebrates, A-mei and Shu Qi fight to send messages of congrats

Leehom jumps with happiness as he went to accept award.
http://www.geocities.com/uslhfc/gallery/GMA/Arms1.jpg
"GMA king" Wang Li Hong (Leehom) could hardly hide his happiness at the after party, drank one huge gulp of champagne, and his cell phone ringing nonstop, including text messages sending in here and there. Did Cheung Hui Mei (Amei) or Shu Qi send him a text message to congratulate him? He thought for a long moment, and said, "It doesn't need to be only them. I have a lot friends, your (referring to reporters) friends sent me some text messages too!

Although Leehom managed to embrace such a huge honor, he was still very secretive about his rumors. However, he did admit that after he saw Amei's performance, he sent a text message to her at the end of the awards ceremony, telling her that her performance was magnificent and great. Will Amei reply to his message? He said, "This you will have to ask her (Amei)."

Leehom stated that in the beginning he thought Hu De Fu (Kimbo) would grab the "Best Mandarin Pop Male Award": "After I saw Kimbo's live performance, I was amazed that he had so much strength. He has such a unique voice. He can definately sing." After he found out that it was he who won, he became overjoyed, and said, "This year's 'family plan' really worked. Tanya (Chua Jian Ya) brought her mother to the awards and I brought my brother. In the end, both of us won this great honor."

When he said his words of thanks, he provided a proverb: "Gong Yu Shan Qi Shi, Bi Xian Li Qi Qi" (To make something near perfect, must master the basics. - breif translation) His Chinese had improved tremendously. He also added "Fen Gao Ji Gui" ('Burn the midnight oil': Working hard all day and night for a job - breif translation) and "Xue Shang Jia Xuang" ('Adding ice on snow': Making a situation worse - breif translation) to emphasize how he was teased at the award ceremony. One of the reporters joked and said, "I think it should be called 'spreading salt on your wound'!" After he heard that it was the name of one of Amei's songs, he quickly answered, "I think 'adding ice on snow' is better!"

LEEHOM introduces younger brother LEEKAI to Taiwan
June 12, 2006

Many have heard about Leehom's beloved brother, but never seen him. Last Saturday many Leehom fans saw Leekai for the first time.

Leehom has always had a close relationship with his younger brother. Before his little brother was born, Leehom would play the Violin for his mother's pregnant stomach. After Leekai's birth, Leehom soon became his baby sitter. He sang for, played with, and taught Leekai. Whenever Leehom was out with friends, he would take Leekai. It was quite an amusing sight to see a teenage Leehom carrying little Leekai alongside. As a result Leekai, holding Leehom's hand, would go with Leehom everywhere from bowling to the movies. Leehom was like a little daddy.

When Leehom went to college, Leekai grabbed onto Leehom's legs refusing to let him go and cried for days afterward. Now Leekai is all grown up, he is currently a Junior at America's Prestigious MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). However, the two brothers are still the best of friends. Leekai is currently on summer vacation and he decided to to visit Leehom in Taiwan. As a result, Leehom, having already enough rumors with girls, decided to keep things simple this year and took Leekai along with him to the GMAs.

However, despite Leekai being 20 this year, Leehom still has a protective instinct. While walking down the Red Carpet Leehom held Leekai's hands, just as if they were still little kids. Perhaps Leehom was trying to protect Leekai from the hungry and relentless paws of the Taiwanese Paparazzi.

Leekai, like Leehom has continued the Wang family's academic success. Leekai, along with Leehom, and LeeDe are all National Merit Scholars. In addition Leekai has a plethora of other awards.

Like Leehom, Leekai also sings. He is the director of his acapella group at MIT and is a Baritone voice, the same range that Leehom was in college. When asked if Leekai had plans to enter the Taiwanese music industry at the moment, the answer was, "No." Leekai currently is concentrating on his education on MIT and plans to graduate foremost.

Who knows, perhaps after Leekai graduates he may just as well carry on Leehom's legacy.

Acceptance Speech - 2006 Golden Melody Award (Best Male Vocalist)

Thank you all for your congratulations! It is a great honor for me to win this award again, after 7 years!

I wanted to take the opportunity in my acceptance speech to talk a bit about the importance of practicing, and to encourage the audience to work hard. Unfortunately, the speech time was limited and I was only able to say some of what I wanted to say. Here's what I REALLY wanted to say:

I never thought that I had a good voice. In 1999, when I won this
award for the first time, I knew there were serious problems and
limitations in my voice that were caused by bad habits and poor
technique. I was struggling with my voice and sometimes it even hurt
when I sang. Honestly, when I received that award, it scared me. I
thought, "My voice doesn't do what I want it to...how can someone with all these vocal problems be the best male vocalist of the year?!"

From that point on, I worked on my voice harder than ever despite many people saying, "Singing can't be learned. You've either got it, or you don't." Never believe someone who tries to tell you you can't do something. If you really want it bad enough, you'll find a way. But most people HATE practicing because it forces them to face their weaknesses and magnify what they aren't good at. Practicing makes us feel uncomfortable and can sometimes shake our confidence. But you don't improve by staying in the comfort zone. You won't improve without venturing beyond what you already know.

Seven years later, I still don't think I have a great voice, but I
know I am a better singer than before. These improvements have come
SLOWLY as the result of commitment and faithful adherence to a
vocalizing regiment. I practice almost every day, and always warm up
before every performance (even if it's just an autographing session).
I focus on the difficult passages of each song (instead of just
enjoying the easy parts) and work on them until they become easier.
This often sounds awful and can be embarrassing when people happen to
listen to me practice. But it works. And if practicing can work for
me, it can for you too.

Whether you are a singer, an actor, professional athlete, or WHATEVER, practice is key to getting better results. "Gong yu shan qi shi bi xian li qi qi. 工欲善其事 必先利其器" For a school student, practice might mean preparing for a test and working on your weaknesses (unfamiliar material). Hate practicing? Well I've grown to love it.

I sincerely hope the new Chinese artists can realize the importance of practicing. Our competitors should not be each other, but rather, the international artists who have historically set the standard in
popular music. I know if we put in the hard work to improve our
skills, we will be one step closer to making Chinese pop music a
worldwide phenomenon.

Good luck to all, and happy practicing!

Well, there you have my full speech. That's what I would have said if I had had 5 minutes!

Thanks for reading, and thanks again for your support. Now that I've won again, I'll continue to work harder. I hope someday I'll have the voice that I think is actually worthy of such an honor!

Love, peace, music

Wang Lee Hom Talkasia Transcript
Friday, June 16, 2006 Posted: 0657 GMT (1457 HKT)

LH: Lorraine Hahn
WL: Wang Lee Hom

Block A:

LH: Hello and welcome to Talk Asia, I'm Lorraine Hahn. My guest today is Taiwanese pop star, Wang Lee Hom.

Born in New York in 1976, Wang grew up in the United States. Blessed with a mix of brains and talent, he spent his youth performing in local musicals, then pursued a degree in music at Williams College, followed by a masters degree from the prestigious Berkley School of Music.

While in university, Wang landed a recording contract in Taiwan. His breakthrough album, Revolution, garnered rave reviews and firmly established him as a rising star in the Asian music scene.

In addition to writing and producing his own music, Wang has also dabbled in movie projects around Asia.

Lee Hom, it's so good to see you! Thank you. (WL: It's great to see you again.) Thanks for coming in. Your music, a blending of east west. You also sort of embody this mix. How would you describe your style?

WL: Um, actually I call my style -- and I hope I don't offend any of the viewers -- but I call it "chinked out."

LH: I'm glad you said it and I didn't.

WL: Well, the "chinked out" style is a school of hip hop - that's the way I like to think of it - that incorporates Chinese elements and sounds. Uh, I started it off in my last album called Shangrila. And this album incorporated the music of ethnic minorities, in China, in Tibet, in Mongolia, Shenzhen. There's 50 some odd --some people say 54, 55 different ethnic minorities -- tribal music. It's a -- beautiful and original to Chinese culture. And this new album called Heroes of Earth incorporates Peking Opera and Quen-chu which are thousand year old traditions that are also unique to Chinese culture. Very unique instrumentation, costumes, singing styles. And it invigorates hip hop music. I don't think anyone has ever done this before in hip hop, in the hip hop world.

LH: Now when you use this so-called "derogatory" racial slur (WL: Yeah) Did you not think you would offend some people?

WL: Well, I mean this is this is music. (LH: laughs) I'm an artist. I think I'd rather make people think, and coin new terms, and coin new sounds. You know, I think that saying this music is chinked out. I don't want to offend anybody. I want to repossess the word, and this is a word I heard growing up in New York. It was derogatory at the time. And you know, I hope I can make it cool.

LH: Right. So you don't mean it in a bad way then.

WL: Definitely not.

LH: Right. Your main influences when you're writing music. What are they?

WL: Well, I've got so many influences. As far as um popular music is concerned, there'd be people like Stevie Wonder and Prince. Um, Alisha Keys and Outkast. Missy Elliot. R Kelly. The Neptunes, people like that. And um, in classical music Leonard Bernstein, Bartok, Stravinsky, you know 20th century great composers. In Jazz there's the great Jazz pianists -- because I studied jazz piano as well- like Herbie Hancock, Keith Jarrett, Kris Tiner, Thelonious Monk, Bill Evans.

LH: Now I've heard that you carry a PDA all the time with you.

WL: Well, I carry my computer with me everywhere I go.

LH: And you write on it, right away?

WL: Yeah, I write and do all my arrangements on my Mac. And um, I use Logic Pro, which is a great software program. It's got all these synthesizers, software since... it's got a whole orchestra inside. (LH: wow.) And actually I did this whole album, I'd say 90% of it, all the programming, at least, in my laptop.

LH: Really? (WL: Yeah) On the road?

WL: On the road. On the airplane, in hotels.

LH: So technology is pretty important for somebody like you?

WL: Oh absolutely. Um, I think it makes the music more natural to be able to incorporate the production just in your every day life. You get an idea, and you just pull out your computer on the bus, or on the car, or wherever, and say , "Oh, I'm going to lay down another track," you know. It's just painless.

LH: Your mother tongues isn't Mandarin, right? (WL: no it's not) You had to learn it as an adult?

WL: Well, I learned it growing up in a Chinese household. But that was in the States so it was, by far, not fluent at all.

LH: So is it difficult for you to sing and write in mandarin initially?

WL: Initially. But I really I think paid my dues. You know, I studied it. And I'm still studying it because, colloquially for me, it's not a problem now, but when you go back and work with Peking Opera and you're looking at the scripts from, thousand year old scripts, and the way the Chinese language is, the ancient Chinese is so different than contemporary Chinese. I mean it would be very hard for your typical Chinese, native speaker, to understand that either.

LH: Right. But so far, of all you albums, none of them have been sold in English yet.

WL: I've never really had the urge to make an English album. (LH: Any plans?) I've done plenty of English singles though... are collaborations with artists from the States or other countries. I've just had a wonderful time doing Chinese music, and it's been so rewarding for me. I feel like there's so much potential in mandarin music, and there's so much, you know, ground left to be broken.

LH: So that's on the back burner -- an English album -- for the time being.

WL: Yeah. It is, it is. I mean, I love singing in English. And it's a wonderful language to sing in. Yeah.

LH: But not your preference at the moment.

WL: Not now. I mean, Chinese music is -- I hope everyone gets a chance to hear what's going on in Chinese music because it's, it is new. And everyone knows that the Chinese world is exploding and you can watch CNN. You can see all these news broadcast about the economy, etc. But as far as the music is concerned, it's the same way. Pop world, pop music, or movies, or etc, you know. Um, so there's a lot of interesting stuff going on.

LH: Right. You've won a number of awards the sort of Chinese Grammy Awards. (WL: Right) What do these awards mean to you? Are they important? Are they a validation of to what you do?

WL: Well. The first time I won, uh like you just said, when I was 22, it meant a lot to me. It was like...I didn't know I could make this happen, I didn't know I could get this kind of recognition. So back then, it was a huge boost of confidence. And I don't want to say ego, but confidence. I think every artist needs confidence.

LH: Speaking of awards now, you recently, co-hosted the MTV Asia Awards with Kelly Rowland. (WL: Yeah.) Who was here as well, as I mentioned earlier. (WL: Yeah, she's such a sweetheart.) I mean any funny, anything happen interesting, during that time?

WL: That was my first time hosting. And well, I know what pressures a host has so I really appreciate your job. (LH: Thank you.) Cause, I mean, I'm a musician because I'm just not a good speaker. You know, ever since I was a kid, I didn't want to talk to anybody, I just wanted to play my piano or the violin. So this really forced me to, you know, work on it. And to be able to read the cues and to read the teleprompter even though I'm not used to doing that. But Kelly was fantastic. Kelly was so sweet and she's really smart. Great timing. So she made my job easy.

LH: Lee Hom, we're going to take a very short break. When Talk Asia returns, we'll talk to Wang Lee Hom about being born in the USA, and life before fame. Stay with us!

Block B:

LH: Hello again, you're watching Talk Asia, and my guest is Taiwanese singer and songwriter Wang Lee Hom. Leehom, you started singing at 3. You started playing the violin. (WL: I don't know if that was called singing, but yeah.) Okay. The violin at 6. (WL: Right, right.) Was this something your parents did to put you through the motions or was it something you really enjoyed doing?

WL: Actually I always feel like, in retrospect, I was tricked into it. Most kids are forced into it but I was tricked into it because my older brother...he's two years older than me, he was kind of forced into playing the violin. Um, he didn't really want to do it and I didn't understand the forced element, I just went with my older brother to his lessons. And I would sit there and be like, "Ah, well..." My older brother to me, still, is a hero figure for me. But back then, he was my idol. Anything that he would do, I wanted to do. So I asked my parent, "Why can Leo play the violin and I can't play the violin?" "Lee Hom, you're too young. You're going to have to wait until you're six." I was like, "that's not fair. You guys don't let me do anything." (LH: laughs) So um, finally when I was six years old and I got to play the violin, I was like, "Ah, I've been waiting for so long" so it was love at first sight for me.

LH: What about other instruments? You picked up other instruments along the way, haven't you?

WL: Yeah, then well the drums... I think every kid, you know, every kid wants to play the drums. Just bang away. (LH: any male kid) Yeah, any male kid. So that to me was an immediate, this real passion as well. And the piano... I always loved the piano as well. But it wasn't until college that I really got into jazz. Other instruments, like guitar, base, and all the keyboards... those just came along the way, as I started playing in bands.

LH: You have an English name I read -- Alexander.

WL: Yeah. You know, I've never ever used it though.

LH: Yeah, I was going to ask you, who called you that?

WL: Nobody. Nobody except for um.. customs people. (LH: laughs) Cause it's in my passport. But, um I remember when I went to kindergarten, my parents asked me "So do you want to go by Alex or Lee Hom" and they're like "well keep in mind if they say Alex, there might be another Alex, but if you're Lee Hom, you're probably going to be the only Lee Hom." Well I want to be Lee Hom then. (LH: Right, and you are probably still the only Lee Hom.) I think I am. (LH: laughs)

LH: I heard you were a very good student in school. Did you enjoy it?

WL: I wasn't a good two shoes... I broke a lot of rules and I skipped a lot of classes and I did a lot of great things as well. But um, you know, I always knew what the consequences were going to be and I wasn't, um, you know, I wasn't difficult about it.

LH: What do you enjoy about school? What was it? I mean, the exercise, the games, the learning, the clubs, the friends?

WL: Well, I love most about my school is the friends... and the interpersonal relationships between, you know, whether it was hanging out with the baseball team... I loved to play baseball... or hanging out with the school band or doing musicals. You know, I loved to be able to hang out with different cliques. And I think that's who I always have been. I've been somebody that's been bridging over different... you know musical genres as well.

LH: Was music always your ambition even back then or...

WL: It was always my ambition deep in my heart. But music, especially I grew up in Rochester, New York, which is where the Eastman School of Music is in and at was always surrounded by professional musicians, and I always knew the outlook was bleak. You know, for any musician. (LH: It's tough.) It's tough.

LH: And your parents, they didn't sort of like push you like typical parents do? You know, get good grades, you know?

WL: They did. They did. That's why... um there was some tension going on as far as my parents wanted me to be a doctor, like my older brother is. And that would have been great, if I had, you know, the heart for it. But I just didn't. That was the hardest part of growing up. I think that was the hardest part of my life... was right during uh applying for colleges and "What do you want to major in?" and everything, every bone in my body is saying music, "I want to do music." And I'm writing down Biology, you know. (LH: laughs.) That was rough. Yeah.

LH: How did you convince them? I mean what did they think when you said, "I really want to do this." I mean that must have been difficult.

WL: Well, I owe so much to Taiwan... and the fans in Taiwan because I released my first album when I was 19. So that was... that was right at that um crossroads.

LH: While you were in university?

WL: Yeah, freshman year. So there was still enough time for me to change my major to music. After the first album, it was actually after the second album came out... cause the first album didn't do so well. So after the second album came out and um, there was, you know, a lot more response and I started to think, "This is it. Like this is who I am. Dad, mom, this is like... I'm a fish in water now. I'm happy. And this is what I've always wanted to do." Um, so I finally got their blessings.

LH: Great. How did you juggle university studies and then I presume flying to Taiwan?

WL: Yeah, that was tough. That was tough. Like I was on a plane at the drop of a hat. If it was Spring Break, even like Thanksgiving break, you got a 5 day break, I'd be back in Taiwan. And I'd record one song. So that was... you got to pay your dues. If you want to become a musician, you really, really have to commit your life to it.

LH: Right, and now your family still based in the United States. Right? (WL: Yeah, they're still there in Rochester.) I mean, was the transition difficult? Rochester to Taipei, for example. Taipei, Rochester, Rochester, Taipei. (LH: laughs)

WL: It was really difficult for me at the beginning to adapt. You know, I was 19, well I was 18 when I was recording the album. And I didn't really speak mandarin very well. I didn't know anybody in Taiwan. And I was really, really lonely. And uh, you know, it was hard to... hard to just express myself. So that was a tough time, but um like I said, I paid my dues. (LH: And it's all behind you now.) Yeah. Well, every time I go to a new country though... for example, when I went to Japan and did my Japanese album and movies and um, concert tours, and you know, I felt like, I'm a new artist all over again. (LH: laughs) That's one of the great things about the Asian market, is that you can go from country to country and you know, become a new artist all over again.

LH: Right. Great. Lee Hom, we're going to take another very, ry short break. When we return, we'll get Wang Lee Hom to share his thoughts on the Asian pop scenes up and coming stars. Stay with us.

Block C:

LH: Welcome back to Talk Asia. My guest is Wang Lee Hom. Lee Hom, you're not just, I mean, singing, yeah right, (laughs) you write, you produce. You've got your own studios -- Home Boys Studios. (WL: That's right.) I mean, what gave you the idea to start that in the first place... the studios?

WL: Um, just the bulk of work that I have to come up with. I produce for other artists as well and compose for them as well. Um, I just produced for some Korean artists. And there's a lot of crossovers going on right now in Asia. And it's really exciting so I decided that I'm going to need a studio in New York. I'm going to need a studio in Taipei. And maybe the rest I can get by with just my laptop.

LH: Yes. I was just going to say... so there is a business man inside there somewhere.

WL: No. It's actually.. it's not open for public, so that's probably the lack of a business man inside of me. If there was one, I'd probably open it up and charge people for it. But I'm not going to do that.

LH: You mentioned earlier, briefly, about acting. What is it about acting that's so attractive?

WL: Well I started doing musical theatre. And I loved it so much from the age of 13, you know, growing up in New York, Rod was a huge influence as well. So just the singing, the acting, the dancing... they're all my passions. So when that... I wasn't really able to do acting for so many years, just doing these pop albums and uh, you know, the opportunity presented itself. Actually in 2000, I did my first movie and ever since then I've been enjoying doing movies.

LH: Could you focus on one given the choice?

WL: I can definitely focus on music. (LH: laughs) I don't think I'm much of an actor. But I just love being surrounded by creative people and a lot of times, doing music is a lonely struggle, especially composing, and arranging, producing my own albums. Acting, everyday you get called and you're surrounded by other actors and creative people.

LH: Right. Right. Fame. Obviously. Has that made life difficult for you? Has it changed your life a lot?

WL: Well I think um, it's changed my life tremendously. And uh, for better and for worse, just like anything.

LH: How do you deal with this loss of privacy and intrusion? How do you do it?

WL: Well it can be a real pain in the neck and um, you know, I feel lucky that I can go back to New York and not be recognized and not be followed by paparazzi and be... that at times can be really, really annoying, um but you know, in today's day and age, anybody with a cellphone that has a camera on it... and a blog. I mean, there's... I don't know about other parts of the world, but in the Chinese entertainment news, there's this recent trend of journalists or media, present company excluded, just going on to the Internet and seeing a blog and saying "Oh, so and so saw so and so." You know, it's completely irresponsible but in the blog he says this and that can become the title of the newspaper article.

LH: No way! (WL: Yeah.) So during your time off, do you hide away somewhere then? Or just go back to... (laughs)

WL: I spend a lot of time in the studio. So it's great. Music is my best and healthiest escape.

LH: Now that you've been in the business or in any business for a few years, do you think that's changed you as a person?

WL: Deep down inside, no. Um, but as far as having better interpersonal skills, I think it has, yeah, and being more mature... (LH: Right. Good, good.) Dealing with different people. Yeah.

LH: Any advice you would give, and I'm talking to you like you've been a veteran (WL: I am a veteran.) I wouldn't even dare use that word... to younger people thinking of going into the business.

WL: Yeah. I think that artists, you have to be true to yourself and because there are so many record company executives, so many fossils, that tell you, "Trust me, I know what I'm doing. You can be the next, um, U2, or you could be the next Stevie Wonder, or you could be the next Wang Lee Hom or whatever." And I hear that so much and every time I hear that it makes me so upset because you're depriving this new artist of being the first themselves. (LH: Right.) And I always tell new artists to put your time and energy into finding that unique quality which makes you a star or which makes your music, you know, worth listening to.

LH: Rather than just being a copy cat. (WL: Yeah.)

LH: The new comers. Any new comers you've seen, I mean, there's so many when you open the pages of a magazine.

WL: Yeah. Sometimes it gets, it gets confusing. New comers, I love artists with great voices like um, ah Daniel Powter, he was at the MTV Asia Awards. And I was so happy to see him there. You know the guy who sings, "Bad Day." Everybody knows "Bad Day" now. But not everybody knows Daniel Powter yet. I love his album, I think it's great. Chinese artists. Um, new artists like Chau Gu. You know, he's from Malaysia. Gary, he's worked hard. He's really making it happening, he's got a great voice and a great attitude. JJ Lim, from Singapore. (LH: Wow.) These are artists that I really support.

LH: Wow. Great, great. What's next for you?

WL: Next for me? I'm writing a musical right now. Like I said, (LH: Wonderful) I'm coming back to square one because these are my roots and uh music theatre to me is something that lacks presence, especially in pop culture out here in Asia. So I want to write a Chinese musical, and that's uh in the works right now. It's going to be completely original, completely new piece.

LH: Oh, Lee Hom, I'm very happy for you. Congratulations. (WL: Thank you.) Thank you so much.

WL: Thank you Lorraine. It's great to be back. (LH: Really appreciate it. Okay.)

LH: You've been watching Talk Asia. I'm Lorraine Hahn. Let's talk again, next week.

Leehom angers internet bloggers as he accepts award
Monday June 12, 2006
Taiwan

http://www.appledaily.com.tw/060328/twapple/640pix/20060611/XN01/XN01_001.jpg

This is the second time Wang Li Hong (Leehom) was crowned Golden Melody (GMA) king. Two nights ago when the award was presented to him, he triumphantly ran up on stage and kissed "enemy" Mok Man Wai (Karen Mok). Although the two are now more comfortable with each other, Leehom began to say when he gave his speech, "I think the real competitors are not the talented artists in front of me, but artists from other countries." This had enraged many bloggers online, stating that Leehom "does not understand the meaning of humble after winning an award" or "obviously stabbing at the singers who lost to him", etc.

Last night, Leehom heard of the news and was greatly disappointed. "This was definately not what I meant to say. I meant that all of us talented artists must group together and support each other to compete against the artists from other non-Asian countries. This will make our music more international and meaningful." Besides all that, he also exposed that his good friend Shu Qi did indeed sent him a SMS to congratulate him. He also sent a SMS to Cheung Hui Mei (Amei), saying that her performance at the GMAs was superb.

When Leehom was doing his speech after he accepted his award, he said that he never thought he was person who can sing greatly, and even until now he is still experimenting and learning different styles of singing, and because of this, he spoke out a famous Chinese Proverb, "Gong Yu Shan Qi Shi, Bi Xian Li Qi Qi (To make something perfect, you must master the basics)". He believes that he must first do well on his homework, and only then when things will be perfect. He also hopes that everyone would continue to practice and discover their own and new singing talents.

Last night Leehom was hyper to the highest point. During the after party he exhaled boldly that he felt proud. He at first thought that Hu De Fu (Kimbo) would be crowned as GMA king because of his unique style of singing. His first regret after he finished his speech was that he did not thank his mother. When he went off stage the first thing he did was to call his mother. Leehom explained that he and his mother were "Best Homies." He said, "I understand her the most and she understands me the most. Our DNA should be the most alike!"

When he ran on stage to accept his award, Leehom grew so happy that he kissed Karen's cheek, beautifully wiping away the dark needle inside his heart from last year's embarassment. Actually, he wanted to thank Karen about last year reading Huang Li Xing's name wrong on the list. Because of her, the fast food restaurant Leehom is being a spokeperson for, McDonald's, decided to nickname Leehom as "Huang Lu Hong" as a selling point. Two nights ago during the "Golden Melody Crimes," it pointed out 5 subjects that led to Leehom's embarassment scene last year during the same award. Leehom laughed and cried, "Ella and Selina's round and surprised eyes were absolutely hilarious! By looking at their confused faces, this can explain that I am innocent."

He also said the he was thankful that he won an award, if not it would definately be "Zai Shang Kou Shang Sha Yian (Spreading salt on your wound)". Coincidentally, Amei has had a song called "Bia Zai Shang Kou Sha Yian (Don't spread salt on your wound)" and when the reporters began to hum the lyrics of the song, Leehom smiled and quickly said, "No no, it's 'Xue Shang Jia Xuang (Adding ice on snow)'!" He had once again showed his talent of mastering Chinese proverbs.

Good friend Heiren (Chen Jian Zhou), Wang Hong En and Tang Zhi Zhong (Jason) all attended to Leehom's celebration after party. Leehom also gave some "exclusive" information to the media, "I collaborated with Wang Hong En in his new CD." Jason also exposed that when they were collaborating, Leehom had played the piano all day, and Wang Hong En was still complaining that it did not have enough feelings and emotions to it and he was not quite satisfied.

Afterwards, GMA queen Chua Jian Ya (Tanya) also came and congratulated Leehom. When the first met they immediately gave each other a warm embrace and kissed each other's cheeks. The media stirred up and told Tanya to immediately teach Leehom how to do the Yoga. The light bulb in her head lit up and she lifted her right leg and placed it on Leehom's left shoulder. Leehom had no choice but to battle drinking with her in an awkward and difficult position. People laughed and joked that once they get home they should not wash their shoulders and feet.

SonyBMG gathered a group of stars namely Wang Leehom,Nirace, Alan Kuo, Han Xue and Chen Gang and made them the spokespersons for various channels on www.SEGAme.com who are known as G, M, A, S and Z. A CD has been recorded to accompany the project. Besides, the music video was shot in Korea as well as Australia. This is Chinese music maestro, Leehom's first time endorsing a game. Without a doubt, he is a very talented musician. In this album which features various artistes, Leehom has two tracks, "Finally" and "Caption of Love" as well as a ballad duet with Nirace called "Wants to Love" which is extremely romantic and touching.

On the other hand, this album includes a cute material by Han Xue, "The Power of Love"; Alan Kuo's energetic number, "Eruption"; Chen Gang's "Dance With Me", etc. Besides, it also contains the powerful recordings of Hitman Bang's small music team which fused together Korea's deeply emotional music style. As music styles vary, it is only those non-traditional individuals' albums that can cover the varieties.

SEGA carefully budgets the theme song's video by limiting it to 15 minutes. It's a short movie filmed in Korea and Australia. In the video, Leehom's character is a boxer who will give everything for love. In his last boxing match, he crashed onto the floor...

Hiding it from his girlfriend (Nirace) who lost her sight in an motor accident, he donated to her his cornea. He left his most loved one with shame and reluctance. All he left behind was his only hope – a key. When Nirace could see again, she went to Leehom's locker with great pain and unlocked it with the key. Tears filled both her eyes and she went speechless.

From a high quality idol to Asia's one and only "Wang Leehom phenomenon". A youth's warm dream; a mission to spread music. Even though there was no time to rest with the tight recording schedule, the accidental change in melody would appear when it was unnoticed. If the question now is "What super power does Leehom possess?"; then we can say that he single handedly conquered the music world. To him, developing the popularity of eastern music needs continuous persistence. It is an expression. He just loves music and likes to sing. Thus, he continues to explore the endless possibilities along this line.

Too happy and said the wrong thing? Leehom Wang: "Singers on deck are not my competitors."

Fans spotted Leehom's little brother, Vanness's sister, and Vanness hanging out together

Wang Leekai, Leehom's little brother, is in Taiwan during his Summer vacation from MIT. Vanness recently came to Taiwan with Kangta to promote their Scandel album, along with perform at the GMAs. Leekai, Vanness, and his sister Wendy were seen walking down the street to meet another group of friends. However, Leehom was no where to be seen.

Brave fans approached Leekai and asked him where Leehom was. He smiled shyly and said that Leehom couldn't come out because he was still working. He was currently editing his "2006 Gai Shi Ying Xiong" Concert DVD. This was bitter sweet news to Leehom's fans. Part of them were extremely excited for the realease, but they all felt heartbroken for Leehom for having to work non-stop even after his promotion period ended in May.

Leehom's concert DVD is scheduled to be released in July and it is Leehom's first concert DVD.
The concert was held in Taipei stadium, with guest stars Mayday and Westlife. The concert was a star-studded event as A-list stars from 5566, to S.H.E to DAvid Tao, to HArlum Yu, to Alan Luo to many other stars attended the event. Leehom performed 6 instruments at the concert and even had a "hot dance" session with one of the dancers. This section made Leehom a bit nervous because he usually is very reserved.

Leehom will continue his concert tour. He has confrimed 2 concerts so far in August. One is in Shanghai on August 12th, the other one is in Hong Kong at the end of August. Other stops that have no date yet include Signapore and the United States.

Golden Melody Award Leehom, Earns NT15,000,000

The Golden Melody Award winner Leehom has recently renewed his contract
with SonyBMG quietly and has earned himself NT15,000,000 and has planned to
conquer the international music industry in 3 years!

Leehom's contract with SonyBMG ended at the end of last year. SonyBMG
tried hard to keep him here while other companies such as Capitol, Warner,
HIM fought hard to get Leehom onboard. Leehom says, hes been working with
SonyBMG for his 8th year and he has a good relationship with them.

Normal record sales are going down, however Leehom's albums under the
management of SonyBMG are selling very well. Leehom's last album
"Heroes of Earth" have sold 180,000 copies and is the best selling album of the
year so far!

Last year, Leehom made NT16,000,000 for SonyBMG and SonyBMG spent
15,000,000 to make Leehom stay with them. Leehom emphasised money wasn't his first consideration, but opportunities for the future.

Tsui Zhen Dong the Vice CEO of SonyBMG Asia should take some credit of
getting Leehom to stay with SonyBMG. Tsui said "We want to see Leehom
on the international stage and work with fine artists". Tsui has already
fixed up plans for Leehom to work with Tata Young, Kenny G, Kyoka Suzuki and
Rain.

Leehom has quietly renewed his contract with SonyBMG and the first
album to be released will be the concert DVD of Heroes of Earth and will start
his world tour. On the 12th of August, Leehom will perform in Shanghai and
4 other concerts in China. Then Leehom will sing in Hong Kong, America,
Singapore and be preparing for his musical play.

Leehom to Star in Ang Lee Movie

Leehom's 2nd Japanese movie "Starlit High Noon" known by it's japanese name as MAHIRU NO HOSHIZORA premiered on June 24th in Japan. The movie was filmed in 2003 and stars, among Leehom, Suzuki Kyoka. It was directed by Yasuda Kyo and tells a story about a hitman (Leehom) who kills in Taipei and hides out in Okinawa. The movie garnered honorable mention at the Berlin Film Festival and earned Leehom a nominee as "Best Male Newcomer."

Although music is number one in Leehom's life, he has a hobby for acting and over the years he has taken on a few projects. Lately, there has been rumor that Leehom has taken on a new project with Ang Lee, the Oscar-Winning director of Brokeback mountain. Ang Lee's new film called "Lust, Caution" revolves around a story that takes place in 1930's Shanghai.

Tong Leung is said to have taken the role of the first lead male and Leehom will be the second male. Leehom will play the boyfriend of character ‰¤‰ÀŽÅ.

The main female character has yet to be decided. Rumors have it that either Shu Qi, Barbie Xu, or Zhang Ziyi may take up the role. Shu Qi has recently had rumors with Leehom and if she does take the part, it will be interesting to see their on-screen chemistry.

In addition, Leehom has many other plans. He is currently writing a Chinese musical. This is his first mandarin-language musical. Leehom's first musical was written when he was in College for his honors thesis. It was a self-writen, composed, arranged, produced, and directed play called "The Bite That Burns" Leehom worked on it for an entire year and the script spanned over 570 pages.

tapos pag-uwi ko, kanina ko lang nalaman nang nabasa ko sa Hot Magazine na :

"American-born Taiwanese singer WANG LEE HOM picked up his second
Best Male Vocalist prize at the 17th Golden Melodies Awards, stamping his
mask as one of the hottest Asian artistes around."

o di bah ? e di natuwa ako kasi may album ako nya...kaso kamalas-malasan

Leehom's Concert in Shanghai

Leehom will be holding his concert in Shanghai on the 12th August. He was wearing an orange T-shirt at his promotion for his concert. His fans became the focus as the first few rows of the seats at the press conference were taken up by his fans. The press could only hear Leehom but unable to see him.

The press conference was very different to others as fans were treated as VIPs. The first few rows were allocated to the fans. When Leehom stepped onto the stage, the fans brought out their cameras and mobile phones and took photos of Leehom. Leehom was very energetic and had his 'Sunshine boy' smile on, no wonder fans were so crazy.

Leehom mentioned many times that the name of the concert will be called "Heroes of Earth" and he said that in the past 2 years, he has experimented with his music. This coming concert will be based around Chinked out music and will include music styles such as Beijing Chinese Opera and Kun Qu. Leehom said he will invite professional 'Lao-shi' on stage and perform and will play a verse of Kun Qu together with the lao shi.

Although Leehom is extremely busy preparing for his concerts, he mentions that he is also preparing for a musical play. He did not reveal what the play will be about. The press asked Leehom "Who will you pick as the leading actress?" Leehom smiled and say "Why does it have to be a leading actress?" Leehom was later asked whether he will appear in Ang-Lee's new movie "Lust, Caution" as suggested by the rumor. Leehom replied "Never mind about that, let's talk about the concert." The press had to ask the staff from his company. "To what we know, we have not contacted Ang-Lee."

The interviews were interrupted by fans asking "Leehom, we bought your album, could you please sign it for us?" "I bought your concert ticket, can you please sign?" Fans became the focus again and the press could only sigh and say to themselves, Leehom is way too popular!

Leehom shows his new self in Shanghai

Leehom was wearing a red T-shirt with a dragon necklace and blue jeans for his Shanghai Heroes of Earth 2006 concert press conference. Leehom says he will reveal a new Leehom to 2 years ago to Shanghai in this year's concert.

At the press conference, Leehom poured champagne and red wine, played with a toy car and posed beautifully and kept the press busy. Leehom was friendly and easy going and posed until the press were satisfied with their pictures. Leehom has been awarded as the ambassador for fighting against pirated disks. When Leehom was told many of his oversea fans used his songs to learn Chinese, he said he only started to learn Chinese when he was 17 years old and he often used Jacky Cheung and Harlem Yu's lyrics as his Chinese text book! He encouraged people to discover the beauty of Chinese lyrics.

Leehom values this Shanghai concert very much and has been practicing hard on his vocal and dance performances. He said he misses the concert he had in Shanghai 2 years ago, as the fans and atmosphere was touching and he often thinks about it. He said this time, the concert will be all new especially the way he kicks off the show.

On the day of his 2006 concert will also be the day for singer Sandy Lin to hold her concert in Shanghai. Leehom says he would really want to go to Sandy's concert and watch her perform! Leehom says the concert will be based on his Chinked out music and will include music styles from Chinese cultural minorities, Beijing Chinese Opera and Kun Qu. He will also perform the song his fans from China wrote for him "Love on my mind" at the concert. As for special guests at his concert, Leehom will be choosing from a list including names such as Westlife, Mayday, David Tao, Rain, Lim Jeong Hee.

The concert will be held on the 12th August 2006 and Leehom says his whole family will be in Shanghai to support his show including his sister in law, his elder brother, his baby nephew and baby niece, younger brother Lee-Kai & his mum and dad. 5000 fans from Japan have already formed a group and will be buying tickets to support him that day.

Leehom congratulates Shu Qi, July 2006

http://www.geocities.com/uslhfc/gallery/hkpress/HK9.jpg

Leehom came all the way to Hong Kong to promote his "Heroes of Earth Hong Kong concert" which will be held on the 25th and 26th of August. At his press conference, he was awarded a new mobile phone and walkman as a gift by his sponsors. They also toasted to wish him luck with his concert.

It has been 4 years since Leehom held a concert in Hong Kong and he said this time round, Chinese elements will be added to his clothes, musical and dance arrangements. Leehom also said that there will be VIP special guests at both his concerts, but he will keep it as a surprise. The press asked whether Shu Qi and A-Mei will come and see his concert. Leehom replied that he will be inviting close friends, family members and fans to his concert. He was asked again whether A-Mei and Shu Qi are close friends of his, he smiled and did not reply. The press pushed further and ask whether he will invite the 2 ladies on stage to create noise, but again Leehom dodged the question skillfully.

There has been reports saying that Shu Qi has found a new "Lover" and asked Leehom whether this was the reason he is avoiding to talk about Shu Qi, however Leehom congratulated the Shu Qi and asked the reporters who she is seeing. The reporters said it was Takeshi Kaneshiro and Leehom was happy and said "This is news!" The reporters asked whether he thinks he suits Shu Qi more than Takeshi, Leehom replied "You should ask Shu Qi that, I don’t know." The reporters continued "Does that make you jealous (that Shu Qi has a new 'Lover' )?" Leehom says "Why would I feel jealous?" The reporters pushed again "In comparison, do you think Takeshi is better than you?" Leehom replied "I don't like to compare myself with others."

Recently, there are online blogs which claim to be written by Leehom. Leehom warn fans that those are fake and don't fall for them. Leehom says he will only write personal diaries and write on his official websites and tell fans to be careful for these fake Leehoms.

Celcom's Power Campaign Launch By Power Icon Wang Lee Hom

TAIPEI, July 12 (Bernama) -- International superstar and winner of the Golden Melody Award for Best Male Mandarin Singer 2006 Wang Lee Hom is expected to arrive in Kuala Lumpur end of this month for a special launching of leading telecommunication provider Celcom Malaysia Berhad's new "Power Campaign".
The campaign is positioned to target the Malaysian Chinese market as well as powering the brandname to another level of success.

Celcom will launch a series of vibrant print advertisements and TV commercial featuring Lee Hom as its new "Power Icon".

Prior to the launching, the Asian heart-throb has been involved and worked enthusiastically behind the scene for the shooting of the advertisements and commercial for the Malaysian market codenamed: Power Commercial.

In a special interview during the "Celcom - Wang Lee Hom - The Making of Print Ads and TV Commercial" here recently, Celcom’s vice-president for Marketing Zalman Aefendy and Lee Hom talked about their passion and aspirations on the new collaboration.

CELCOM REACHING OUT TO WIDER CHINESE MARKET

With the new promotional campaign powered by Lee Hom, Zalman said he was confident it would boost sales of Celcom products and services in the Chinese market and its overall sales target.

"Our track record and feedback from our dealers and customers on our previous campaigns have been encouraging.

"Certainly we believe that the Celcom-Lee Hom power campaign will create another successful impact in the market, especially the Chinese market segment," he added.

He said the campaign would boost the Celcom brandname which was strongly associated with technology, innovation and global connectivity.

"We have a strong Chinese customer base, and we want to further expand it besides capturing a bigger share of the non-Mandarin speaking market. We want to bring them closer to Celcom through such campaigns."

Lee Hom is the sixth international celebrity thus far to collaborate with Celcom.

The other five are Singaporean singer JJ Lin and English Premier League stars, Ryan Giggs, Michael Owen, Steven Gerrard and Robert Pires.

Zalman said Lee Hom was chosen as the corporation’s latest "Power Icon" because of his creativity, youth, energy and powerful personality.

"His charms and personality fit Celcom’s needs which highly emphasise quality, creative innovation and excellence of products and services.

"He represents success and sophistication and that he can truly relate to us as well as appeal to people from all walks of life.

"As the new spokesperson, Lee Hom will also participate more in our promotions and events in the future," he said.

In addition, Celcom will hold other promotions such as download of ringtones and wallpapers as well as Lee Hom's concert in Malaysia early next year.

Meanwhile, Lee Hom who looked immaculate in a white shirt paired with blue jeans for the advertisement photo shoot, expressed his optimism for Celcom, which he described as dynamic, innovative and visionary.

"I'm excited with the opportunity to work with Celcom. I love big challenges. I feel connected to Celcom as it always has new ideas to continuously empower people in this high-tech age.

"Certainly, I look forward to more collaborations with them in the future," he said.

THE MAKING OF THE POWER COMMERCIAL

The project has proven to be extra significant for the multi-talented entertainer as he is also co-directing and producing a TV commercial for the first time.

"Although I've been involved in music videos before, this is the first time that I am directing a TV commercial. I'm involved in the whole production of this TV commercial for Celcom.

"I've been focusing and preparing for it for the past three months," he said, smiling brightly.

Lee Hom is co-directing the commercial with American Sam French.

The TV commercial, which incorporates the aerospace concept with shock wave special effects, will feature songs from his latest album, "Heroes of Earth".

"The TV commercial and print advertisements will exude a lot of energy and power in line with the Celcom brand philosophy and its image as a powerful telecommunication service provider," he said.

The advertisements and TV commercial, which took two and half days to shoot and is wholly produced here, are scheduled to be completed in three weeks.

Viewers in Malaysia will be able to catch the TV commercial, which will be aired in all Chinese-dominated free and paid TV stations -- RTM2, NTV7, 8TV and Astro.

It will be available in three versions; 15 seconds, 45 seconds and 60 seconds.

The print advertisements will appear in all major newspapers and magazines.

Leehom Has a Split Personality - Like a little boy

Recently, Leehom was in Shanghai holding a press conference for his August 12th concert in Shanghai. The press conference was held by Sohu-Online. During the questioning session, Leehom was very polite, composed, and articulate like usual. However, once there was a break, Leehom's inner child broke lose.

At first he sat in his chair, then he became distracted and curious, and all of a sudden he started playing with the stuffed dogs in front of him. He was so intent in playing with the little stuffed dogs in front of him, that he had to be reminded that that interview was restarting.

Leehom's inner child isn't something new. Although Leehom is very serious when it comes to his music, he still has a hidden inner child. Many of his co-workers say that it's Leehom's "kiddy-side" that makes his music so creative. "Even as he ages, he's still young at mind and comes up with the wackiest ideas that only kids could think of." Leehom admits that he has a bit of a split personality. Leehom produces, composes, arranges, plays instrumentals, and even writes lyrics for his own songs, therefore because not many other people are involved, making music is a very lonely and boring process. To keep himself from being too bored , he likes to practice accents, his favorite being the Indian accent. Also he has a habit of talking to himself as he plays the role of a producer, lyrcists, composer, singer, etc.

"Sometimes I say to myself in a strict voice as the producer, 'I think that take sucked.' then I'll reply to myself in as the singer, "Really you think so?"' It's a bit weird at first, but working till 5 am in the morning can do crazy things to your brain," Leehom joked.

Leehom's co-workers explain that it's Leehom's quirky side that makes him such a musical genius, as well as an interesting person to be next to.

For those who can't read Chinese, the banner is promoting a limited pre-order edition, which includes 2 DVD + 2 live CD + a 52-page concert picture book + a T-shirt with crystals. The pre-order process starts July 21 in Taiwan for NT$799 (around US$25). They'll probably have other "regular" editions like DVDs only or CDs only later on. Can't wait to get the DVDs!

Leehom Being Representative for Sony Ericsson K800i

http://www.geocities.com/uslhfc/gallery/K800i/Sony2.jpg

Can you tell if someone has breast implants by touching them? Leehom has tips for us.

Leehom has been accused of having plastic surgery on his chin, and at a mobile phone promotion event, Leehom hit his chin with a mobile phone to try to prove that his chin is a real chin from the Wang's family. David Tao has mentioned at another event saying he and Leehom should crash their two chins together to show how real their chins are, and Leehom said in reply "I'm sure he just wanted to kiss me!

About the rumor of a fake chin, Leehom takes it as a joke and invited people to feel his chin. His colleagues said you can't tell a chin whether it's fake or not by feeling it, but you can with breast implants. Leehom instantly relied "I don't think so, some you can't tell the difference!" Leehom realized what he said and what people think he is suggesting and said "That's what they say online!" Leehom said people have regretted after plastic surgery and think what we are born with is actually a gift from god, however if plastic surgery can boost someone's confidence, he won't oppose the idea.

Leehom was asked whether he has made contact wit Shu Qi, but Leehom refused to answer anything related to her, and only said, when he was working in Korea, he did not meet up with her. He said "I don't have the habit of revealing the details of my private life to the public."

In August, Leehom will hold his concerts in Shanghai and Hong Kong, and he has asked whether would be abstaining himself from certain things. Leehom laughed "I am not drinking alcohol at the moment!" The media asked whether he would follow singer Wang Ji Yan and abstain from intimate relationships for 40 days, Leehom was forced to reply "We'll see!"

Earlier on, there was a rumor that Leehom has accepted a role in Ang Lee's new film "Lust, Caution", Leehom refused to talk much about working with Ang Lee, but said he went to the movie casting a month ago, and has bought that novel written by Zhang Ai Ling. When Leehom was asked whether he would be facing Tony Leung in the movie, Leehom said, he cannot reveal any details of the movie.

WANG LEEHOM, TONG LEUNG WORK WITH ANG LEE

Ang Lee's newest movie, "Lust Caution" has so far been shrouded in mystery. Recently however, his assistant David Lee revealed that Tony Leung, Tang Wei, and Wang Leehom will be part of the film. Tony and Tang will play the leading male and female roles respectively. This movie marks Ang Lee's first new movie after his Oscar-winning "Brokeback Mountain"

Tang Wei is a newcomer from Mainland. She earned the position despite rumors that Zhang Ziyi, Liu Yifei, Shu-Qi and the likes were to take her role. She is a 27 and is already a rising star in mainland China, having starred on stage and television. She recently gave an award-winning performance in the telefilm Jinghua Swallow.

http://img109.imageshack.us/img109/7981/normalu1513p28t3d855852f326dt20050930163525yl9.jpg

44-year old Tony Leung is a familiar household name, who won best actor at Cannes for ``In the Mood for Love'' in 2000. A native of Hong Kong, he has been one of Asia's top stars for nearly two decades. He has starred in several memorable films for directors Wong Kar-wai and John Woo, and in such smash hits as Hero and Infernal Affairs.

http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/6578/upcloseeo0.jpg

Wang Leehom, 30, is a Taiwan based singer, who is a renowned producer, composer, and songwriter. He won the Taiwanese Grammies for best producer in 1999 and 2004 along with Best Male artist in 1999 and 2006. He is a native New-Yorker and attended one of the best Liberal Arts Schools in the United States, the prestigious Williams College and earned a Masters Degree at top-notch "Julliard-Rival" Berkelee School of Music.

"Lust Caution" is adapted from a 26-page short story by the late Chinese author Eileen Chang. Wang Jiazhi (Tang Wei), a young woman who gets swept up in a dangerous game of emotional intrigue with Mr. Yi (Tony Leung). She seduces him into an assasination plan against the Japanese backed government of World War II. Things complicate as Kuang Yu Min (Wang Leehom), a young student who is romantically involved with Wang Jiazhi (Tang Wei) becomes entangled in matters.

Ang Lee's assistant David Lee said that filming is expected to start in September and will take place in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Malaysia, adding that isn't clear how long filming will take.

Spy thriller "Lust, Caution" to be shot in Malaysia

HONG KONG (AP) - Taiwanese director Ang Lee has cast Cannes best actor winner Tony Leung, Chinese-American pop star Leehom Wang and mainland Chinese newcomer Tang Wei in his upcoming spy thriller "Lust, Caution,'' his assistant said.

Lee's assistant, David Lee, said filming is expected to start in September and will take place in Malaysia, Hong Kong and Shanghai, adding that it is not clear how long filming will take.

The film marks Lee's return to Chinese-language film after making "The Hulk'' and the gay romance "Brokeback Mountain,'' which won Lee a best director Oscar this year, Lee's assistant, David Lee, told The Associated Press about the director's casting choices.

"We're still scouting locations,'' he said.

"Lust, Caution,'' based on a 26-page short story by famed Chinese writer Eileen Chang, is about a group of patriotic students who plot to assassinate the intelligence chief in the Japanese-backed Chinese government during the World War II era.

Hong Kong's Leung, who won best actor at Cannes for "In the Mood for Love'' in 2000, plays the intelligence official Mr. Yi, while Tang plays the Chinese student Wang Jiazhi, who seduces Yi to pave the way for the assassination.

Singer Wang portrays Kuang Yumin, a student collaborator of Wang Jiazhi's.

Media speculation of Lee's choice for leading lady had been intense because of Zhang Ziyi's rise to stardom after starring in Lee's martial arts hit "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.''

Zhang went on to appear in Hollywood films including "Rush Hour 2'' and "Memoirs of a Geisha.''

Earlier, Chinese media had wrongly tipped another mainland Chinese actress, Liu Yifei, for the lead female role in "Lust, Caution.''

Little is known about Tang.

Reports say the 27-year-old, who graduated from China's Central Academy of Drama, majoring in directing, resembles Taiwanese sex symbol Shu Qi.

She reportedly took part in a beauty pageant and appeared in a TV series and a TV film. Ang Lee's expected September start date for shooting "Lust, Caution'' gives Cannes winner Leung a tight schedule.

This summer, Leung is due to film "Confession of Pain,'' directed by Andrew Lau and Alan Mak of "Infernal Affairs'' fame.

The movie is about a police officer who seeks revenge for a family tragedy. - AP

Leehom Raps, Ah Shin forgets his lyrics

http://xs304.xs.to/xs304/06302/today-show3.jpg

It was the last show for 'Final Home'- rock concert and Mayday invited Leehom as their special guest. A rock concert all of a sudden turned into a Rap competition. Ah Shin changed from a rocker to a rapper and sung "Zai Mei Bian" with Leehom!

Leehom performed the song "Zai Mei Bian" as Ah Shin wrote the beautiful
lyrics for him. Leehom was very familiar with the rap lyrics and managed to
rap without getting his tongue twisted, however as the lyric writer, Ah Shin
only managed half of the lyrics before he started to forget and tried to get
by by slurring. Leehom made fun of him and said "How can you forget the
lyrics?" Ah Shin cleverly replied "Who on earth wrote this set of lyrics?"

Ah Shin had a hoarse voice when he was singing at the concert several days
before and the media focused on his voice. At the concert yesterday when Ah
Shin was testing the microphone, Marsha made fun of him and said "Please
don't use this hoarse voice again, otherwise the media will criticize you badly tomorrow again!" Ah Shin smiled and replied "Oh well, it doesn't matter, since they have criticized me badly already!" Ah Shin then asked his fans whether they will stop coming to their concerts because of his hoarse voice, his fans shook their heads and Ah Shin sighed with relieve. After a day's rest, Ah Shin's voice seems to be improving and has performed well.

Lee Hom Mixes Rap, Tibetan Vocals
Sunday July 23 2006 Hong Kong

HONG KONG (AP): Leehom Wang grew up in Rochester, New York, played piano in a youth philharmonic orchestra and performed in musicals at school. Now he's mixing rap and Chinese opera and fusing pop tunes with indigenous Tibetan music.

The 30-year-old Chinese-American singer-songwriter, one of the rising stars of the Chinese pop industry, has dug deep into his Asian roots for creative inspiration, reaching beyond his early days of sentimental pop ballads.

First was the rock version of a famous folk song about Chinese ethnic pride, "Lineage of the Dragon,'' released in 2000 on his album "Forever First Day.'' Four years later, he blended hip-hop with Tibetan-style female vocals and Chinese drums.

On "Heroes of Earth,'' issued last year, Wang combined his own rap with Peking Opera singing and traditional Chinese kunqu, a 500-year-old opera tradition that predates Peking Opera.

Rapping Chinese in the title song, Wang declares: "With Peking Opera and kunqu injected/Hip-hop enters a new phase/Only new breakthroughs, new musical styles produce new heroes.''

Wang isn't the first Chinese-American to explore his ancestry and he's not the first Chinese-language musician who's incorporated traditional Chinese elements into his work, but he's arguably the most experimental.

It was a long journey from a small American city to the forefront of Chinese pop culture.

Born into a wealthy family, Wang took an interest in music and performance at a young age, starting violin lessons at age 6 and the piano two years later, according to his biography "The One and Only Leehom Wang.''

He was also a regular in school musicals.

But it was after graduating from high school that he broke into the competitive Chinese-language pop world. He sent a videotape of his performances to an uncle, who then recommended him to a Taiwanese producer, his biography says.

He released his first Chinese album, "Rival Lover Beethoven,'' in 1995, when he was still attending prestigious Williams College in the U.S. state of Massachusetts.

Wang's clean-cut image was a perfect fit for the cheesy, smooth-sounding ballads that are the hallmark of the Chinese pop world.

Meanwhile, his ethnic identity strengthened after he moved to Taiwan to be closer to his growing Asian fan base.

The 2000 rework of "Lineage of the Dragon'' was one of his first displays of ethnic pride.

Several years later, he went further, experimenting with Chinese-style hip-hop. He called the genre "chinked-out,'' saying in his biography that he wants to reclaim the racial epithet used to denigrate Chinese.

The song "Heroes of Earth'' is the epitome of "chinked-out.'' Wang starts out rapping in Chinese, then a Peking Opera excerpt is played, then Chinese-American rapper Jin breaks out in English verse.

But not everyone is approving of Wang's musical experiments.

Taiwanese music critic Yeh Yun-ping said Wang hasn't found his own distinct sound and may be overstretching himself.

"He doesn't focus on a particular musical style. There's a bit of this, a bit of that,'' Yeh said, adding that he doesn't think Wang is that talented as a rapper.

"He has the ambition of mixing Chinese and Western musical elements, but sometimes his talents do not cover every aspect,'' he said. At a recent news conference in Hong Kong, Wang defended his new hybrid style.

"I wanted to do something different, to do something the audience hasn't heard before and to challenge everyone's ears.

"I think this is a necessary process for the evolution of pop music,'' he said.

"It's a challenge. There's definitely a certain difficulty to it ... but it's interesting to me. It's fresh,'' Wang said.

However, being a commercially successful pop singer on a major label _ Sony BMG _ Wang can't stray too far from Chinese pop's mainstream. His albums still include ballads called "Forever Love'' and "Kiss Goodbye.''

A-mei and Leehom appears together
Saturday July 29, 2006

Wang Hong-En (Biung Wang) is such a big figure. In his birthday party, the rumored-couple Wang Li-Hong (Leehom Wang) and Cheung Hui-Mei (A-mei Cheung) both attended to his birthday party. The two were not embarassed at all, and greeted each other warmly.

Wang Hong-En, who will soon release his new CD, had celebrated his birthday the night before. To thank friends that helped him on his CD, he invited many good friends over to "Yuan Zhu Min" restaurant to celebrate his birthday. Leehom and A-mei, who both collaborated with him in the CD (Leehom played the background piano music and A-mei co-sang with him), were both in the invitation list.

That night, Zhang Chen Yue, SAYA, etc were all invited. Ah Yue was high from the beginning to the end and frequently used his camera to snap some pictures. Everyone also requested to sing his music, "Love's First Experiment" and was enjoying their time. Leehom and Chen Jian-Zhou/Heiren (Blackie) appeared together to the party with a cake. Leehom also pretended that he was a machine where you insert money and he'll sing a song, but because of the loud echoes he produced, Leehom sang half a song and gave up.

Everyone thought that A-mei would not appear. Surprisingly, she did. When Leehom was about to leave the party, he bumped into her. Both smiled and greeted warmly. Both of them did not feel awkward at all and had a nice conversation. Leehom later left and A-mei stayed with Wang Hong-En and the others. She did not leave until the end of the party.

Stefanie Sun and Jolin Tsai Dazzle "Little Dome"

2006-07-31 11:55:12 CRIENGLISH.com

Singaporean singer Stefanie Sun and friend Jolin Tsai jointly presented a stunning gig over the weekend at Sun's concert.

The concert taken place at the Taipei Multi-Functional Arena, known as Little Dome, last Saturday.

Attached to a steel wire that landed her on the stage from above, Sun started the night with one of her hits, "The Kite."

Later, "Dancing Diva"Jolin Tsai made her dazzling appearance in a man's black costume, joining Sun on the song "Take Your Time."

Sun altogether sang 25 songs at the concert and changed costumes nine times.

Not all the songs were performed for her fans. The singer also sang two songs for herself that she did not sing well on the same stage at the Golden Melody Awards in June.

Other stars like Wang Leehom, A-shin and Fish Leong also enjoyed the concert on stage that night.

Jolin Tsai to Kick off World Tour Concert

2006-08-02 09:24:24 CRIENGLISH.com

Taiwan pop star Jolin Tsai will kick off her world tour at the Hong Kong Coliseum on September 15 and 16.

The 25-year old singer promoted her first concert stop at a press conference last Monday in Hong Kong, saying she's very nervous about her debut performance at the Hong Kong Coliseum, where many very professional concerts have been held.

Many pop singers will also be invited to guest perform on her world tour, including Taiwan actor and singer Alan Luo, Taiwan singer Wang Lee Hom and Singaporean singer Stefanie Sun. Taiwan pop king Jay Chou is not included on the guest star list.

Jolin Tsai said she has meticulously planned her concerts in Hong Kong so as not to repeat the stage designs or special effects that other performers have used.

Warbler Wang Lee-hom was second, while the Japanese actor and sometime singer Hideaki Takizawa was placed third....

Entertainment Preview This Week

2006-08-08 09:27:21 CRIENGLISH.com

This week is obviously a “music week” – with top singers of different music styles choosing this same time to present their charm at different venues.

This Saturday, famous rocker Zheng Jun will give a show at Beijing’s Star Live Music Hall, while R&B singer Leehom Wang will start his concert at the same time at the Shanghai Palestra.

Leehom Wang is undoubtedly one of the most successful “cross-culture” singers, who smoothly combined western music elements such as hip-hop and pop with traditional Chinese tones, such as Peking Opera and Kun Qu, thus creating a new flavor he calls “chinked-out”. This Saturday, Leehom will serve his fans a feast with his unique music style. By the way, it’s been said that renowned Taiwan singer David Tao might be the special guest. You can find out for sure by getting a ticket and going into the concert!

Leehom attends DVD press conference with a moustache
August 9, 2006 Taiwan

http://tw.image.news.yahoo.com/xp/tvbs/20060809/21/4264609292.jpg

Although Wang Li-Hong (Leehom Wang) has been in Hong Kong, for the "Heroes of Earth" 2006 Concert DVD release, he needs to tell his Taiwan fans good news through the news. Leehom Wang attended to a press conference yesterday for his DVD with a new image - an extra beard.

Entertainer Leehom said: "Ah. This style. Well, part of it is because I'm really a wanderer. I just came back from Chicage because it was my paternal Grandmother's birthday. I was in Singapore before and flew to Chicago, and used up 60 hours. Then in Hong Kong I met their typhoons. I still have not retrieved my luggage yet, and that's where my razor is."

Taipei was where Leehom's World Tour began. This Saturday, Leehom will hold a Shanghai Concert in front of 80,000 people. Later on, he will continue his tour in Hong Kong.

Leehom: "I'm really happy that this DVD is releasing. I'm also very excited about the Shanghai Concert. Hopefully the weather there would be nice because it really is very hot there. I also hope it won't rain there. Later I'm going to have a concert in Hong Kong in the end of the month. When the DVD comes out, I'm going to take it and use it to practice my dance moves again.

LEEHOM DROPS HIS LUGGAGE - HAS A NEW "CATHAY PACIFIC" BEARD

Last week Wang Li-Hong (Leehom Wang) went to Chicago from Singapore to celebrate his paternal grandmother's 90th birthday. During the flight he met with Hong Kong's typhoons. He was suppose to switch flights at Hong Kong, but then he changed the airline and went to the flight to the Philippines to switch flights at San Francisco. All the switching had lasted approximately 60 hours until he reached Chicago, and because of the abnormal switching, all the luggage were also switched and some were lost, making the process confusing.

Yesterday, Leehom was in Hong Kong holding a press conference for his upcoming concert DVD. He told them that he didn't shave because his razor was in his luggage, which was lost. Now, Leehom has a little beard.

He and Zhang Hui-Mei (Amei Cheung) are really fated. Last year Amei was in the same situation, over ten thousand dollars of instruments were in the luggage, but luckily her luggage was found in the end. This time Leehom lost his luggage, and in it contains main constumes and assessories for this Saturday's Shanghai Concert, the price reaching almost to $1,000,000.00.

HE WAS IN SINGAPORE. IN TRANSIT TO YOUR COUNTRY AND HE STAYED THERE FOR ONE NIGHT. You could, well, kidnap him or something and I'll fly over and join you. Lmao! Sorry, too hyper for this hour. XD Dude, I was totally too lazy to translate and update when I read that earlier on at leehom-cn.com

Anyway, they've found his luggage and are on the way back to Leehom in HK. So glad they've found it. I really hate to see him losing things, especially his beloved dragon pendent.

LEEHOM WANG'S Shanghai Concert: Fans Present Him with Roast Duck at the Airport

For his world tour, GMA King Wang Li-Hong (Leehom Wang) will hold his Shanghai Concert tomorrow (12th) evening in the Shanghai Stadium, performing in front of 80,000 people with some Kunqu and similar Chinese music. To prepare nicely, Leehom arrived at Shanghai early to do some last minute practice and preparations. Once he appeared at the airport, a mob of fans presented him with roast duck.

A couple of days ago Leehom still had some facial hair and looked nearly dead. Leehom, clean and shavened, arrived at Shanghai's airport in the 9th to prepare for his concert in the 12th. A mob of warm fans greeted him and gave him a roast duck, which surprised him.

Leehom's fan: "The roast duck was bought in Shanghai because we know he's not going to Beijing this time. She really likes roast duck."

Leehom's fans from Japan said that they already bought 5 thousand tickets. Leehom's parents, brothers, sister-in-law, etc were all invited to the concert. Before with all the switching airlines Leehom had lost his luggage, but now they are found. The customised silver dragon necklace for this concert was also found. Leehom seemed to be in a good mood.

Leehom: "I'm really excited for the concert. Tomorrow and tonight we will do some last minute practice and preparations, re-memorize the lyrics and stuff like that."

The theme for Leehom's Shanghai concert this time will be called "chinked-out." Being raised in the US, finding Leehom incorporating American music with ancient Chinese music is really a surprise. We all hope that this will bring new music to people's ears.

Leehom Scares Fellow College Student with His Love Ballads

Being tall, buffed, charming, and talented are the perfect characteristics to attract females. Although Wang Li-Hong (Leehom Wang) has it all, chasing after girls is definitely not something he is best at. Whenever he speaks up, the other will always reject him. It is also because of many rejections that Leehom manages to control his shy and bashful personality. He becomes braver, and if he meets a girl of his dreams, he will also be more initiative, and he "doesn't believe that dating is impossible."

Over the year, rumors has been bothering Leehom ever since. While rumors with Zhang Hui-Mei (Amei Cheung) are still boiling, a tourist in Tokyo sees him and Shu Qi shop together, and brings her in as well. Although their "love" was immediately discovered, both strongly deny about their relationship. Although they are bothered by the paparazzi, Leehom, Amei, and Shu Qi's friendship still did not change. He said, "No, it will definitely not affect our relationship with each other. Everybody knows about the paparazzi and no one really takes it seriously or even care about it. We are still great friends."

Working in the entertainment circle is extremely busy. You often work out of town, and controlling one relationship is harder than it is to people who are not in the circle. When asked if Leehom doesn't dare to focus in one long relatoinship, he said without hesitation, "Of course not. I've already accepted this kind of routine in my life, and I don't believe dating and loving someone is impossible. (When you meet a girl that you like will you be initiative and go after her?) I will. I've tried being initiative and I've also tried the other way around. Long time ago, usually the girl would be initiative, which made me really shy, and because of this when I meet a girl I like, I wouldn't know how to open my mouth. I would just write songs. I remember when I was 13 or 14, I had a crush on a girl, but I was too shy to tell her. So in the end I wrote a song and recorded it for her.

Now, Leehom will be more initiative when it comes to relationships. He will write love ballads to attract females' hearts, but this doesn't always work. There will be times when Leehom will fail to win her heart. However, this does not affect Leehom's views toward love. He also openly said that when he was in college he once failed to win a girl's heart. He said, "When I was a freshman in college, I met a girl I really liked. We didn't have the same classes so we hardly met. We don't have the same friends, and I doubt she even knew about me. It wasn't until my sophomore year when I couldn't stand it anymore. I had to get a chance to know her. All my friends knew that I liked her and told me to write a song for her. I listened to them and wrote a song to her to tell her how I felt." Afterwards Leehom's friends convinced him to sing that song to the girl. Leehom held his breath and went into her dormitory. At first both of them waved at each other and greeted warmly, but when Leehom finished singing, the girl was scared half to death and rejected him. However, Leehom did not break down and said that when he left the room, he felt proud. Although he was rejected he managed to control his bashful personality. He knew he could do it!

After many failures in relatoinships, Leehom's now more experienced in chasing girls and also gives some tips to other people. He said, "At that time I really had an important lesson in my life and learned something. Guys don't need to be afraid. It would only hurt yourself. You need to speak up, but not to a point where it would scare the other person. You have to be smarter and think of how the other person would feel, and you can't be too initiative all the time."

When it comes to his career, Leehom's Hong Kong "Heroes of Earth" Concert will be on August 25th, 26th. It has been 4 years since he stepped in the Red Coliseum alone. Leehom misses Hong Kong very much and he's very happy that his friends and fans have not forgotten him. His concert will incorporate the backgrounds of the Jingqu, Kunqu music, as well as mixing East and West music together, bringing new music to people's ears. Papa Wang also gave Leehom some of his old collections of Jingqu videos for Leehom's reference. Leehom listened to the videos closely, felt the music behind Jingqu, and then incorporated it into modern hip hop beats. Has this deepened your Father-Son relationship? He said, "Yup. He's really happy. My relationship with my family is great. They live in America so we hardly meet but we will talk to each other online." When asked if Leehom will invite Amei and Shu Qi over to watch his concert, he said that he will invite all friends, but the two of them are really busy.

Last year in Taiwan's "Golden Melody Awards" Leehom lost to Huang Li-Xing for the "Best Mandarin Male Pop Singer" award. This year, the award was finally given to him, and he said he would never forget that moment. Leehom won this award two times. When asked if last year's incident where he ran on stage and received the wrong award had affected him hugely? He said no. Although he didn't receive the award in a long time, he would still not be disappointed. Leehom agreed that competition is getting harder. When he first won this award when he was 22, it was a huge surprise and support for him. This time it was still huge support for him, and he doesn't mind waiting for it. Although Leehom had many interesting relationships in the past, his life isn't better than anyone else's. He thinks that being an artist in the circle and being someone from the outside is no different. People may think that you are lucky and proud, but when you are feeling low you are actually lower than everybody else. There had been extra struggling and frustration for him.

Leehom Lands in HK's Coliseum with a Million Dollars Insurance

http://www.mingpaonews.com/20060811/_11mi004_.jpg

Wang Li-Hong (Leehom Wang) will hold his "Heroes of Earth 2006 Concert" in Hong Kong's Red Coliseum for two nights starting August 25th. In the beginning of the concert he will appear in mid-air and fly down. Because of this definite danger, Eastern Entertainment helped Leehom purchase 1 million dollars of insurance, plus Leehom invited creative artists from different countries for his band, forming over one hundred people. In total, including the band, the stage, the lights, music, and clothes, it will cost over 100,000 dollars.

In this concert, Leehom said that he will invite Wu Jian-Hao (Vaness Wu) from F4 as his guest in the first night. Leehom laughed and said that he and Vaness might go against on stage to see who dances better. As for who will be his guest for the next night, he jokingly said that all of his guests will be important, "king-like" figures. He also said that his father and mother will attend to the concert to support him. When asked if he invited rumored girlfriends Zhang Hui-Mei (Amei Cheung) and Shu Qi to the concert, he said that he will invite all friends if only he had the tickets. He does not have any tickets, and he still owes tickets to a lot of friends.

"Lust, Caution" second female lead revealed - Taiwan chick Zhu Zhi-Ying battles with Beijing girl Tang Wei

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v88/scarlett13/leehompro1.jpg

In Li An's (Ang Lee) new film, Lust, Caution, the leading male and female roles were definitely unexpected. Hong Kong's Leung Chiu-Wai (Tony Leung) takes as the leading male role, Mr. Yi, while Beijing newbie Tang Wei takes as the leading female role, Wang Jia-Zhi. However, the film's second female lead has already been casted, and it is certain that this role is given to a new Taiwan actress, Zhu Zhi-Ying. Tang Wei and Zhu Zhi-Ying are both professional students from the Taiwan Theater of Arts, and in the film, both will have their own important respective roles, and both of them will also fall in love with Wang Li-Hong (Leehom Wang)!

Ang Lee has almost completed the film's casting and is prepared for the filming which takes place next month. The second female lead is also confirmed that it will be played by Taiwan Theater's newbie Zhu Zhi-Ying. Gang Lee also mentioned that Zhu Zhi-Ying's profile is extremely oustanding. Ang Lee was also at first considering her to be the female lead instead of Tang Wei. Zhu Zhi-Ying's manager also exposed to the media that Ang Lee had a hard time considering for the female lead between Tang Wei and Zhu Zhi-Ying. In the end, he finally decided that Tang Wei seemed more suitable, but he still had some more surprises underneath his sleeve for Zhu Zhi-Ying.

Zhu Zhi-Ying plays Lai Xiu-Qing, a college classmate of Wang Jia-Zhi (Tang Wei). Zhu Zhi-Ying will be the second female lead only next to Tang. She has been in several stage productions and one of them was shared with Tang Wei.

Internationally acclaimed art director Tim Yip knows the art of diplomacy when it comes to subtle criticism. Here in Taipei to promote The Banquet by Chinese director Feng Xiaogang last weekend, Yip was asked his opinion on Ang Lee's choice of ABT singer Wang Lee-hom to play the role of the young Chinese intellectual in Lust Caution, Lee's next project.

Striking an equivocal note, Yip said Lee's selection was “a very courageous and daring decision to make.”

SEGA, SONY BMG to Release "Life is a Game" Original Soundtrack

http://img1.qq.com/gamezone/pics/1188/1188529.jpg

Tycoon game company SEGA and music company Sony BMG cooperates for the first time bringing in new spokepersons for their new product. Sony BMG stars Wang Li-Hong (Leehom Wang), Ni Rui-Si (Nirace Ni), Ke You-Lun (Alan Ke), Han Shue, and Chen Gang were chosen as spokepersons for their new product. They also filmed a mini movie for it, spending a lot of money to film it in Korea and Australia.

Both Sega and Sony BMG are two of the largest companies in which are most welcomed by young adults. Since this time it is their first time cooperating together, and Sony BMG is also the largest music company in the world, they've decided to record an original soundtrack for their new release, naming it "Life is a Game" for people to enjoy.

"Ka You" (www.SEGAme.com) is Chinese talent Leehom Wang's first time being a spokesperson for a game. Leehom's music is undoubtly talented and popular so therefore in the original soundtrack, Leehom sang and produced two songs by himself, "Finally" and "Ai Qing Gong Lue" (Life is a Game). He also co-sang a ballad with Nirace, called "Xiang Ai" (Wanting to Love). The song is sad, beautiful, and touching.

Han Shue's cute "Ai Qing De Muo Li" (Love's Power), Alan Ke's crazy "Bao Fa" (Explode), and also Chen Gang's hip hop song "Gong Mu" (Dance with Me) etc is also included in this soundtrack. The soundtracks contains many different varieties of music, extremely different from many albums out there.

This soundtrack will be released on August 18th. Fans who enjoy "Ka You" (www.SEGAme.com) and enjoy Sony BMG's artists will definitely enjoy this soundtrack.

David and Jolin will have more duets? Leehom is left with no one

Probably the month of the Chinese Valentine's Day, July, is extremely popular for the male and female duets. Even "teacher" Tao Zhe (David Tao) invited beauty Cai Yi-Lin (Jolin Tsai) to have a duet with him in his lastest album, Tai Mei Li (Too Beautiful). Not suprisingly, male and female duets are extremely popular in the markets.

David's music is extremely stringent. From his first album in 1997, he controlled his own music and voice really well, but in this latest album, he purposely invited the burdened Jolin. Listening to both of them sing the fluffy "Jin Tian Ni Yao Jia Gei Wo" (You Have to Marry Me Today) made everyone jump with surprise.

David said that during the SARS period when he co-produced and composed the song "Shou Qian Shou" (Hand in Hand) with Wang Li-Hong (Leehom Wang), he noticed that Jolin was a singer with great potential. The song originally was not meant for both males and females to sing, but they later discovered that adding some female voices in the song adds a better feeling to it, and therefore invited Jolin as well as other female artists. This proves that Jolin is competent enough to sing the song with the required mood.

Cooperating with the "electrifying" Jolin will definitely make a "Scholar/Beauty Duet". When asking Jolin if she will develop rumors with David, she looked embarassed at first, but laughed. The witty David immediately said, "She thinks I'm too old for her." Therefore, the song and the MV for their duet will only contain simple "sweetness."

Actually, the three top music scholars of Taiwan all sang duets before. Besides David and Jolin, Zhou Jie-Lun (Jay Chou) also had a duet with Wen Lan (Landy Wen) called "Wu Ding" (Rooftop) and also another with Nan Qian Ma Ma's Lara, called "Wu Shan Hai" (Coral Sea). Leehom, on the other hand, seems to enjoy cooperating with Hong Kong female singers a tad more. He cooperated with Lo Hau Yum (Candy Lo) and sang the duet version of "Ho Sum Fun Sau" (Please Break Up), with Pang Ling (Cass Pang) and sang "Rang Wo Chu Nuan" (Give Me Warmth) and also rapped in Mok Man Wai's (Karen Mok) "Na Ke Bu Yi Ding" (Not Quite True) as well as appeared in her MV. Adding everything up, he still have not had a duet with Taiwan female singers.

Jolin had also cooperated with Taiwan talent Huang Li Xing and had a duet with him called "Guai Guai Pai" (Obedient). This song is very up-to-beat, causing the two singers to form recent rumors.

LEEHOM WANG ASKS HIS FANS PERMISSION FOR TAKING OFF HIS CLOTHES
Thursday August 17, 2006 Hong Kong

Yesterday night, Wang Li-Hong (Leehom Wang), Cheng Ka-Wing (Kevin Cheng) and Taiwan group Nan Quan Ma Ma all attended to "Jade Solid Gold" as special guests. Next weekend, Leehom will hold a two-night concert in Hong Kong's Red Coliseum. When asked about the preperation of the concert, he explained, "We're now practicing. I haven't performed in a 360 degrees stage in a long time so I'm very excited and looking forward to the concert. (Will you do any hot dancing?) Yes. The things that should happen will happen, the things that shouldn't happen will happen as well! I actually really like dancing. Unfortunately in my music videos I don't really dance that much. (Will you take of your clothes and expose your chest?) Well, let's see how high the audience is. I'm actually quite opened about it." As for the special guests that night, besides old friend Wu Jian-Hao (Vanness Wu) attending, there will also be another mysterious "important" guest. When asked who this mysterious guest is, he joked, "You said it. It's mysterious. You'll know by then." Will Leehom invite his rumored girlfriend Shu Qi to the concert? He said, "I will invite all good friends."

KEVIN CHENG SMILES WHEN TALKING ABOUT NICKI CHOW'S BIRTHDAY

Cheng Ka-Wing's (Kevin Cheng) concert will be held on this Sunday, the 20th. When asked if he went to find Professor Lau Ka Cheong for some lessons, he said, "I don't have the time for lessons. Recently I'm busy filming a series and I can only practice my vocals when I drive or when I'm in the car. The professor will also attend to the concert this Sunday. The pressure is really on me because he has really high expectations." Kevin's birthday was on the 15th this month. How did he celebrate it? He explained, "I still had to work on my birthday. However, the fans waited for me to celebrate it together. This year is also my busiest year ever. Although it was just a simple birthday party, it was the best day ever!" Chow Lai-Kei (Nicki Chow) earlier said that she wanted to publish an article on the newspaper to celebrate his birthday. Kevin smiled and said, "Thanks to her. When it's her birthday I will do the same thing!"

SHU QI AND LEEHOM WANG HAS THE SAME CELLPHONE

http://www.appledaily.com.tw/060328/twapple/640pix/20060821/EN05/EN05_001.jpg

Four months ago, Shu Qi and Wang Li-Hong (Leehom Wang) were caught shopping together for a ring by a tourist in Tokyo. Lately a reporter who was known to have sharp eyes caught them having the same Sony Ericsson K800i mobile phone. Rumors also say that Shu Qi stopped her tobacco addiction because Leehom told her that he didn't like it. Their 'ground' love is steaming more and more every minute! As for the coincidence of them having the same phone, Leehom's manager said, "It should be a coincidence." Shu Qi's manager, however, said, "Things like this always happen."

When Shu Qi celebrated her 30th birthday this April, her only birthday wish was to hope that she can stop her tobacco addiction. Although quitting will be extremely difficult, she says that she will not give up. Because Leehom is drug-free, other people began to think that it's because of Shu Qi's love for Leehom that convinced her to quit.

This month on the 10th, Shu Qi wore a cap with extremely casual clothes and shopped at Hong Kong's Central for some food and other daily necessities. Throughout her time shopping she was extremely happy, talking briskly and happily through her cell phone. She giggled, laughed, and smiled, causing people to look up at her, wondering who she's talking to that is making her so happy. After half an hour, Shu Qi finished shopping and smiled triumphantly, walking away with her female assisstant.

When they left the store, the reporters ran up to her and asked her some questions regarding her upcoming movie, "Confession of Pain." She immediately hid away her cell phone and ran to her van, ignoring the reporters. Although it was only a matter of seconds, a reporter with sharp eyes caught her holding a cell phone that is the exact same phone of the new generation in which Leehom was a spokesperson for: Sony Ericsson K800i.

DENIED THAT LEEHOM GAVE HER THE PHONE

http://www.appledaily.com.tw/060328/twapple/640pix/20060821/EN05/EN05_003.jpg
http://www.appledaily.com.tw/060328/twapple/640pix/20060821/EN05/EN05_004.jpg

When the reporters say that Shu Qi was using the same phone Leehom is being a spokesperson for, Leehom's manager said that she doesn't know if Leehom gave Shu Qi the phone. She said that Leehom is a spokesperson for Sony Ericsson and whenever there is a new generation coming out, they will give him one to use.

As for if he will invite Shu Qi to his upcoming Hong Kong concert on Saturday and Sunday, Leehom's manager said, "As long as it's friends, he will invite them." Shu Qi's manager said that Sony Ericsson K800i is a new generation. Having the same cell phone is nothing to be astonished about, and denied that it was Leehom who gave her the phone.

THE "WANG/SHU" LOVE LINE

(Time/Event)

* 2006/03 BED SCENE
Leehom directed his MV for his new song, "The First Morning" in his "Heroes of Earth" album and he invited Shu Qi to be the female lead. The two were on bed and Leehom was playing his guitar to her. Leehom praised that Shu Qi's acting skills were beyond amazing and he also joked that he wanted to cut all his parts in the MV.

* 2006/04/26 HOLDING HANDS AND SHOPPING TOGETHER FOR A RING
Leehom, Shu Qi were shopping in Tokyo together for a ring. They were caught as being extremely close and holding hands. A tourist caught a picture of them together but Leehom denied and said that "Shu Qi was helping him pick a mother's day present for his mom" to deny their relationship.

*2006/04/28 MARRIAGE DAY?
One of Shu Qi's best friends Lam Sum Mei said that at the meantime both her and Leehom were just good friends, but she said that if they will really end up marrying each other in the future, she would be more than happy to be the host for their marriage.

*2006/04/30 HANGING OUT TOGETHER
Shu Qi commented on the "Wang/Shu Love," saying that they are just good friends and will sometimes call each other to hang out. However, she also said that "it's hard to say what will happen in the future."

Hi In Kaos! Nice to see you here..

Thanks for the welcome! :D

Sa Ongpin may mga pirated dun:D pero I suggest na mas maganda na original cds and dvds kse di talaga sayang ang pera mo (di ba iruka? ;))..

I make it a point to buy orig cds but when none's available you gotta make do until they hopefully become available ;) I've signed the petition and hopefully Sony BMG will act on it. And I'll look around Ongpin when I visit my relatives over there lol!

If you want, bigyan kita ng copy ng mga mp3s at videos nya. Di ba magkakilala na kayo ni leideezaiko? Available na po concert DVD nya sa Yesasia...

I'm on dial up so hirap magd/l ng malalaking files! A sampler copy of his performances/mp3s would be awesome  I've seen leideezaiko in the BSB thread before but I haven't met her personally :)

LEEHOM WANG FINDS JACKY CHEUNG AS HIS SECRET GUEST PERFORMER

Wang Li-Hong's (Leehom Wang) "Heroes of Earth 2006 Concert" will be held for two nights beginning tomorrow night the 25th in Hong Kong's Red Coliseum. Earlier on Leehom told the media that the guest performer for the second night would be good friend Wu Jian-Hao (Vanness Wu), but when asked who was the guest performer for the first night, Leehom would not say anything else besides him being a big figure of the music industry. However, Leehom finally exposed that this big guest figure would be one of Hong Kong's Four Heavenly Kings, Cheung Hok-You (Jacky Cheung). Jacky agreed to be guest performer of Leehom's Hong Kong Concert. Leehom happily explained, "Earlier on when I released my new album, Jacky gave me a lot of advice. I'm so happy I can work with him again! Hopefully we'll have great chemistry on stage!"

Shu Qi Photo Caption: Can Shu Qi really be dating Wang Lee-hom?

While the leak of photos showing Shu Qi snogging dream lover Takeshi Kaneshiro during the Hong Kong filming of Behind the Sin caused director Andrew Lau to expel any reporter who dared approach the set, speculation about Shu's real-life romance with pop idol Wang Lee-hom is back in circulation again. This time, the local diva was spotted using the same mobile phone that Wang carries. Gossip observers also believe that Wang, a nonsmoker, is the inspiration behind Shu's determined attempt to kick the habit, even though she's added 2kg to her smack-addict physique.

Only time will tell whether the rumored pairing will turn out to have been just a fling or a serious relationship between the lonely diva and one of the most closeted womanizers in the business.

Wang Li-Hong's (Leehom Wang) "Heroes of Earth World Tour Concert" was held in Hong Kong last night in Hong Kong's Red Coliseum. It has been four years since Leehom last stepped on Hong Kong's largest coliseum. The coliseum is the most unique because it is a 4-sided stage which makes Leehom more closer and interactive with the audience. The organizers also presented Leehom with three million-dollared microphones and also a personal headphone. Leehom also invited one of Hong Kong's Four Heavenly King's, Cheung Hok-Yau (Jacky Cheung). They sang Jacky's "Wen Bie/Mun Bit (Kiss Goodbye)" together. Last night Leehom was very excited and happy, and even sang the Cantonese version of "Ai De Jiu Shi Ni (The One I Love is You)." (Bei Ni Geng Hao/Bei Ney Gung Ho) Shu Qi and Lin Xi-Lei (Kelly Lin) also gave him flowers for support and success of the concert.

When Leehom first debuted he always faked his idol, Jacky's, voice. Last night he played around, first singing in Jacky's voice and sang a phrase in "Wen Bie", and then invited his idol to appear on stage. Once guest performer Jacky Cheung appeared, Jacky immediately spoke in Cantonese and praised Leehom was "Liang Jai" ("Handsome" in Cantonese), and said that Leehom is also very talented. The two battled to see who had a higher range and also danced together. The fans were extremely high and loud. Everybody stood up and screamed loudly. Jacky said he knew Leehom for a long time, and Leehom wanted to invite Jacky to his concerts for a while already. Therefore when Leehom decided to have another concert, Jacky agreed to be his guest performer right away. Last night, besides singing with Leehom, he also did a solo and sang "Je Muo De Nan Ren/Jek Mok Tak Nam Yun (A Lonely Man)".

Leehom's qipao in this concert was different from the concert in Taipei. Leehom chose a golden and shiny qipao and descended from the roof of the coliseum. 12 people were dancing with the dragon, 4 kung fu dancers and 13 famous dancers appeared and sang the first song "Gai Shi Ying Xiong/Koi Sai Ying Hung (Heroes of Earth)". In total, the stage had 30 people dancing. Leehom was dancing with a huge flag that embedded with a dragon logo, looking extremely extrodinary. Many fireworks also shooted from the stage. At first the organizers were afraid that these fireworks would destroy the stage and hurt the performers, but luckily everything was solved.

Four years ago, it was Leehom's first time stepping onto Hong Kong's Red Coliseum to perform, and he also performed with good friend Zhang Hui-Mei (Amei Cheung). This time the concert was a little more special. The organizers made three microphones of different colors for Leehom to use at the concert, and also two completely different costumes. The 4-sided stage also allowed Leehom to be more closer to the audience and release some of his "electric" powers. The audience not only took this moment seriously, they also tried to reach out and touch their idol.

A light-blue collared-shirt with gray-blue pants is one of the new costumes. Leehom carried a guitar and performed, sang and played "Da Cheng Xiao Ai/Dai Seng Siu Ngoi (Big City, Small Love). When he sang "Kiss Goodbye," Leehom pulled a couple from the audience on stage. The couple also told Leehom that they noticed in the "Kiss Goodbye" music video, Leehom and the female lead kissed 50 times. The audience immediately screamed loudly. In Taipei's Arena, a girl dancer danced closely with Leehom and also ripped his shirt, showing off Leehom's abs and fit chest. Last night Leehom did the same, and the audience screamed even louder than they did before.

Weeks ago Leehom lost his luggage while flying back to Shanghai. Luckily he regained his luggage back. His accessories and costumes for the concert were all there. Before the concert Leehom and the dancers spent four days and three nights together practicing for the concert. Wang Mama also flew to Hong Kong to support her son. Tonight Leehom will continue his "Heroes of Earth" concert and the guess will be Wu Jian-Hao (Vanness Wu).

LEEHOM WANG SINGS "WEN BIE", BATTLES WITH JACKY CHEUNG

Last night, Wang Li-Hong (Leehom Wang) held his "Heroes of Earth Concert" in Hong Kong's Red Coliseum. Leehom and his idol, Cheung Hok-Yau (Jacky Cheung) performed together on stage and sang Jacky's "Wen Bie (Kiss Goodbye)" together. The two GMA kings performing together is seriously a treat for the Hong Kong viewers! Tonight Wu Jian-Hao (Vanness Wu) will be the guest performer for the second night, and he and Leehom will sing "Long De Chuan Ren (Descendant of the Dragon)" together.

FINDING HIS LOST LUGGAGE

Leehom had once performed a 360 degree turn while playing the drums in Hong Kong in 2002. It has been four years since he had last stepped in Hong Kong's largest coliseum and he still had the skill to attract more than 10,000 viewers to watch his concert. Leehom is already an idol of millions, but he's never too stubborn to deny the fact that Jacky Cheung is still his idol. Performing with Jacky Cheung on the same stage was a glory and honor for Leehom. When Leehom first debutted he could fake Jacky's voice, therefore yesterday night he sang "Wen Bie" with Jacky's voice, and later he finally introducted Jacky, causing people to scream with surprise and happiness.

Around the first couple weeks of August Leehom went to America to celebrate her grandmother's birthday, but because of Hong Kong's typhoons Leehom switched airlines more than three times and was stuck in the air for 60 hours, therefore losing his luggage. Luckily, the airline "Cathay Pacific" finally found his luggage and returned it to him. Because of this, the costume-changes for last night's concert was extremely elegant and Leehom had many handsome and hip hop accessories to go with it. The organizers also prepared a red, black, and silver different microphones for Leehom to use. Each microphone costs approximately $1,000,000. The price is extremely astonishing.

Leehom will Arrive in Singapore for his Concert

http://stars.zaobao.com/images3/wanglihong060824.jpg

After Leehom's "Unbelievable Singapore Concert" in 2002, it has been four years since Leehom last had a concert here. He's finally coming back.

LEEHOM WANG WILL ARRIVE IN SINGAPORE FOR HIS CONCERT - OCTOBER 21, 2006

In October 21, 2006, Taiwan's Golden Melody King Wang Li-Hong (Leehom Wang) will hold his Singapore concert. After his "Unbelievable Singapore Concert" in 2002, it has been four years since Leehom last had a concert in Singapore.

Leehom, who has not stepped on Singapore's Indoor Stadium for the last four years, will arrive with new surprises. Not only will he be playing more than five instruments, he will also show his improving dancing skills. He will also be showing his chest and muscles, and he will be very interactive with the fans. The fans will definitely never forget this upcoming night!

In his "Unbelievable Singapore Concert" four years ago, Leehom had a part where he was dancing with an electric motor. To give his fans something new and refreshing to see, this time he will dance closely with a female dancer. When asked if his Singaporean fans will get the honor to see his fit body and chest, he said, "Then we have to see how warm and high the fans will get." There will also be a special guest at the concert, but Leehom will not disclose who this is. He wants to give his fans a surprise!

Since 1995 when he first debuted, Leehom released a total of 11 Chinese albums. Being a compser, producer and singing fluently in other languages such as Cantonese and Japanese, he also became very famous in other Asian countries. He became from "Taiwan's No. 1 Idol" to "Asia's No. 1 Talent." His unique music, talented, and healthy image melts and attracts many fans hearts, and his music talent of composing and producing is definitely professional and is extremly high-quality. In 1999, 23 year old Leehom Wang's name became more widely known, for he was the youngest singer to have ever won the Golden Melody Awards for "Best Male Singer" and "Best Producer" - these two awards. His non-stop composing and producing music made him deserve another "Best Male Singer" award in 2006 and also a "Favorite Artist - Taiwan" award in MTV Asia 2006 that was held in Bankok, Thailand this May.

"Leehom Wang's Heroes of Earth World Tour Concert" will be held on October 21, 2006 in Singapore's Indoor Stadium. Ticket prices are 78, 98, 128, 148 and 168 individually in Singapore dollars. Next Monday (August 28) these tickets will be officially on sale in Sistic. The hotline for reserving tickets is 63485555.
