BEVERLY HILLS — Brace yourself, Ben Affleck. Your sweetie, Jennifer Garner, was spotted at the Beverly Hilton Hotel Wednesday night in the arms of another man, crooning a love song and even planting a kiss on the guy's lips.

Garner's new man? Her Alias TV dad, Victor Garber. But fret not, there's no Elektra complex going on here. Garner and Garber came together to perform the Stephen Sondheim song Side by Side at the Alzheimer's Association's 13th annual "A Night at Sardi's" gala.

"I am not a singer, nor do I have any real ambition to be," admitted Garner, who wore a black Nicole Miller dress. "But I did sing a bit in musicals when I was starting out." Her musical résumé includes Lil' Abner, Nunsense 2 and in the seventh grade, a chorus role in Barnum.

Garber, who rehearsed his big musical number with Garner on the Alias set in her trailer, recalled his very first "musical" was his bar mitzvah at age 13, "and I was very good in it."

Garner Directs May 'Alias' Episode

"In Dreams," the first "Alias" episode directed by series star Jennifer Garner, is set to air on Wednesday, May 11 in an installment that promises to be stuffed to the gills with all things Rambaldi.


The episode will feature guest star Joel Grey, appearing on several episodes this spring as a mysterious man impersonating Ron Rifkin's Arvin Sloane, hot on the trail of some Rambaldi secret or other. Amy Irving, who hasn't visited the show since 2003, will also appear as Emily Sloane, which should intrigue regular "Alias" viewers. Garner is a three-time Emmy nominee for her acting work on "Alias" and she won a Golden Globe in 2002 for her performance as Sydney Bristow. This season, "Alias" is averaging nearly 11.3 million viewers per week thanks to a healthy boost from creator J.J. Abrams' other ABC drama, "Lost."

The May sweeps episode allows Garner to easily trump significant other Ben Affleck, who is also preparing to make his directing debut with his own adaptation of the Dennis Lehane novel "Gone, Baby, Gone."

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are engaged to be married

Though neither Affleck nor Garner will officially confirm it, a close friend of his has been spreading the word that the couple are going to tie the knot. This echoes a prediction that one of Garner's childhood friends made in early February when she noted that "it's my understanding he's going to give her a ring."

The Hollywood pair spent the weekend in the Los Angeles area celebrating Garner's 33rd birthday (April 17), including a party Saturday night at her Brentwood home with her parents, pals and some co-stars from Alias.

Affleck, 32, and Garner, who co-starred in 2003's Daredevil, have been dating since August 2004. But except for occasional appearances together at Boston Red Sox games and low-key events, the couple have kept their relationship mostly out of the paparazzi limelight.

Affleck, for example, didn't accompany Garner on the red carpet of the Screen Actors Guild Awards in January – or to the premiere of Elektra that same month – but joined her at the SAG after-party, where one observer told PEOPLE, "They both seemed really happy all night."

In February, Garner visited Affleck on the set of his upcoming film Man About Town in Beverly Hills, where between takes "they were smiling and holding each other," a witness told PEOPLE. "They didn't seem to care (that people were watching.) They looked really happy, looking into each other's eyes." Said a friend of the couple's: "(They're) like high school sweethearts. The Alias star is expecting her first child, E! Online and E! News have confirmed.

Multiple sources close to Garner and beau Ben Affleck say the actress is three months along. News of the pregnancy comes just two weeks after several published reports claimed the couple were engaged.

According to E! Online columnist Ted Casablanca, Affleck flew Garner's kin from West Virginia to California in April for his leading lady's 33rd birthday party. The question subsequently was popped in private, Casablanca reported.


At the time Affleck's rep, Ken Sunshine, described said reports as "garbage." On Saturday, Sunshine declined to address the baby news, saying "I never comment on [Affleck's] personal life." There was no immediate word from Garner's camp on the pregnancy or whether a ceremony was in the offing.

Despite having a baby on board, Garner is still keeping to her schedule this summer. Her next big-screen project, Columbia Pictures' romantic drama Catch and Release, begins its two-month shoot next week in Vancouver. The film costars Kevin Smith, Juliette Lewis and Timothy Olyphant and marks the directorial debut of Erin Brockovich screenwriter Susannah Grant.


But Garner's November due date could prove tricky for the Alias brain trust. While ABC's spy thriller is wrapped for the season (the finale airs May 25), the show has been picked up for the fall and is slated to resume production in July. Now, producers must decide how to deal with Garner's pregnancy, either by incorporating it into the show (remember, Sydney's eggs were harvested last season) or just try to hide it. Then again, considering the show's sky-high slinky outfit-to-episode ratio, a burgeoning belly would be hard to conceal. Further complicating matters, Garner performs most of her own stunts.

Affleck, 32, and Garner costarred on screen together before coupling off--he was Daredevil to her Elektra in 2003's Daredevil. (His cameo in this year's Elektra wound up on the cutting-room floor, but is preserved for posterity on the DVD.)

They finally went public with their much-rumored romance last fall at the World Series, when she was spotted snuggling Red Sox diehard Affleck at Boston's Fenway Park. Their pairing was alternately dubbed Garfleck and Bennifer II.

But unlike the original Bennifer tandem of Affleck and Jennifer Lopez, the all-new edition prefers to fly under the radar. The World Series appearance aside, Garner and Affleck have generally managed to eschew being photographed together at red-carpet events.

Garner was previously married to Felicity costar Scott Foley. They split in 2003, and their divorce was finalized in March 2004. They didn't have any children.

The never-wed Affleck previously was engaged to Lopez. That relationship ended with the scuttling of their September 2003 nuptials.

You can't believe everything you read, but you sure can read a lot of it.

Besides, it's hard to miss the biggest news EVER to hit jen-garner.net.

"Omgomgomgomgomgomgomgomg," according to a participant known as ALIAScraZedJG.

It helps to know that in Internet talk, "omg" stands for "Oh my God."

The post continues, "i think im going to cry. if this is true. . .Alias is ruined for me. . .because the fights are my favorite part--especially the fights Jen is in. . .. )-;"

And then, "THIS HAD BETTER NOT BE TRUE THIS HAD BETTER NOT BE TRUE THIS HAD BETTER NOT BE TRUUUUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

The topic, of course, is the speculation -- unconfirmed in real life and spreading like wildfire on the Internet -- that Charleston sweetheart and "Alias" star Jennifer Garner is expecting a baby with boyfriend Ben Affleck.

Their publicists have issued a big "no comment," which means everyone else has rushed in to fill the void.

From the publication "Sify" in India to "TV Squad" on the Internet, everyone seems fixated on the motherhood speculation.

The Star-Ledger of New Jersey gives us "Stork report: Garner to be a mother."

The entertainment Web site "hecklerspray," which seems a tad too literal minded, tells us "Jennifer Garner having a baby Ben Affleck."

And a Web site called "defamer.com" is running a "Jennifer Garner Womb Watch."

The most common headline seems to be "Jennifer Garner's next Alias: mommy."

Nearly everyone is relying on original reporting by the gray lady of celebrity journalism, E! News.

That organization didn't exactly get a confirmation. Instead, it ran contrasting statements by Affleck's publicist, Ken Sunshine.

Last month, the publicist described pregnancy rumors as "garbage." By last weekend, he wasn't exactly denying it. He declined to discuss the rumors, saying, "I never comment on (Affleck's) personal life."
Garner, a 33-year-old George Washington High School graduate, and 32-year-old Affleck co-starred in "Daredevil" and went public with their romance last fall. Last month, he reportedly proposed marriage after a birthday party attended by her parents.

The most recent rumor has fans aflutter at Jen-Garner.net.

A Web site participant known as street_soldier posed the question on many minds: "What does this mean for ‘Alias?' Still shocked!"

Others are expressing disbelief and support.

"Ok, if these rumors really are true, I am SO happy for Jennifer and Ben. But, like aliasfancarrie7 said, I won't believe it until I hear it from Jennifer's mouth," wrote a participant known as jg4eva (which, like a vanity license plate seems to stand for "Jennifer Garner forever."

"And now, going to what ivand67 said, WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO ALIAS NOW!?"

Finally, a Web site participant known as phoenix_girl15128 spoke for everyone by saying:

"Ok i know i was happy like 20 min ago. . .but now im freakin out!!!. . .. . . . .im still happy for her. . .but im just freakin out!!. . ..and i dont know why. . .. . .. . .but thats just me. . .i freak out easily!!. . . . .still happy for ya jen!!!!!. . . . .and worried about next season of alias. . .BUT STILL HAPPY!. . . . ."

Garner's Changing Role on 'Alias'

J.J. Abrams: blabbermouth or PR whiz? As Jennifer Garner continues to keep her lip buttoned over whether she's carrying Ben Affleck's baby, her "Alias" overlord is opening up about the stork talk.

Abrams, perhaps in a bid to save his star the trouble of officially confirming her bun in the oven, tells "Access Hollywood" her pregnancy "will affect" the fifth season of the ABC spy series, "but I think we have overcome a lot of other issues and things. I think the show will be a little bit different because of it, but Jennifer is so excited about everything right now ..."

As for how the actress's delicate condition will affect her bad-guy-walloping CIA agent alter ego Sydney Bristow, Abrams deadpans, "I'm sure kickboxing is probably out."

While it's still unclear how Garner's expanding waistline will figure into the show (fans will recall Sydney's eggs were harvested against her will as part of the elaborate Rambaldi plotline), Abrams jokes that "every alias [she dons] will just be a pregnant person."

Garner, 33, meanwhile, is currently in Vancouver filming the romantic comedy "Catch and Release." Over the weekend, paparazzi snapped her looking very affectionate with Affleck as they ambled around town, publicly smooching and holding hands.

Just how focused were the lovebirds on one another? During their stroll, they failed to notice they'd stopped in front of a movie poster for "Monster-in-Law," which stars their respective exes, Jennifer Lopez and Michael Vartan.

Jen, by the by, was not only sporting a rare smile in the pics, but she was also wearing what looked suspiciously like a diamond engagement ring on her all-important finger. Affleck, 32, reportedly popped the question last month with a 4.5-carat, $500,000 sparkler from Harry Winston.

i don't like him and jen being together and jen ending up pregnant also. nyahahaha! i'm more of michael vartan and jennifer garner tandem. hehehe... it's really sad especially for alias coz jen is really good with stunts. so i'm wondering how they will put it in the story. with holly marie combs of charmed, they easily changed the story and making the baby her second child in the series coz her character is married. but with sidney bristow... mmm... i just don't know :confused: . hehehe..

The Daredevil and Alias star said the positive side of having a high-profile image outweighs the relentless media attention and harsh criticisms that stars are so often subjected to.

"You can't have success without a flip side," she said. "Some things you can achieve through this job are amazing, such as making a sick child smile or raising money for charity."

"But the bad side is that your private life isn't so private and you can put yourself up for some incredible criticism."

"13 going on 30" duo Jennifer Garner and Gary Winick are set to buddy-up again, as star and director, respectively, for another fluffy romantic comedy - this time, "Christmas in Wisconsin".

Niels Mueller, who did re-writes on "13", is penning the script for the film, eyeballing a late 2006 release.

Meantime, Winick - who's producing - is putting the finishing touches on "Flakes", a Michael Lehmann directed comedy starring Christopher Lloyd.

In the film, an old hippie (Lloyd) starts making some dough from a cereal shop he's got up and running. Because he's a bit of a cereal expert and seemingly knows the perfect cereal to milk ratio, folks flock there for their morning wheat-bix. When a competitor opens up across the street and rips off the hippies concept - the manager's utopian state is disrupted.

UK warms to Garner's DVDS

"With both "Elektra" and "Alias Season 3" being out this week on DVD in the UK; some stores had special stands for Jennifer Garner DVDS. Those stands seem to have paid off as Elektra debuted at #3 on the charts this week, whilst Alias' third season may have been the least watched and most heavily downloaded - but it still started out better than any previous season with its 44th ranking being 4 places above season 2s start.

Garner, who's only recently developed into a well known name in the UK, has never seen her television show Alias get much attention - the major networks skipped it over and the ones that do show it tend to do it on a "when we want to basis". So downloading of her television show "Alias" has always been a big problem. Infact the ratigns for season 4 in the UK have reflected the massive problem that downloading has for a show with such a cult following.

Alias dvds have always shifted well - especially on the internet. The season one and two boxsets have always started out low in the offline charts - but sustained sales online have meant they provide quite impressive numbers in light of the lack of viewership the show has in the reigon. Season 3s strong start ; notably its top 10 ranking at Amazon.co.uk [Season 2 also did this] is a good sign that fans are still there and is quite suprising considering it finished its airing almost a year ago in the reigon . But Alias fans now know that waiting a month or two after the intial release of the dvds could save them a fortune, as the DVD price usually drops from £37 down to around £20 online; and offline a similar drop from £49.99 to around £29.99.

A word of mouth sleeper hit in the bowels of UK tv, Alias' fourth season is screening on Bravo right now. Lets only hope we dont have to wait another year after it finishes to get the DVD box sets.

As for Elektra? It performed much the same here as it did Amercia - an okay opening followed by a horrible drop to give it one of the shortest runs of the year. But dvd sales and its $60m global haul should have already covered Elektra's costs - with enough left over to make a profit when the deals done."

Jen enthusiastic about US Weekly's new policy


US Weekly, one of the largest markets for celebrity photographs, said yesterday that it would tighten policies with a formal ban on any pictures taken through "reckless" means.

The move comes on the heels of a decision by the Los Angeles District Attorney's office to open a criminal investigation into the activities of "paparazzi" who break the law in pursuit of photographs. US, in a statement, said it was "formalizing" existing guidelines to ban pictures taken by photographers who "violated traffic laws, trespassed on private property or invaded the privacy of children at school."

Investigators are looking into not only the reported crimes committed by the individual paparazzi, but also studying whether the competing paparazzi teams could be prosecuted on felony conspiracy charges. The increased scrutiny comes almost two weeks after police say a van driven by a photographer intentionally plowed into the side of a car driven by the film star Lindsay Lohan.

Janice Min, editor of US Weekly, said in an interview that the magazine had "always gone out of our way to omit photographs from the magazine if we were able to determine the photos came through means that were dangerous."

But, she said, added: "After serious consideration over the last few days, we realized this has become a serious safety issue and US should address it."

Us Weekly, which is owned by Wenner Media, has a circulation of about 1.5 million, according to the Audit Bureau of Circulations. Like People and Star, it has thrived by serving up a heady diet of celebrity news and photographs.

A number of stars - including Cameron Diaz, Justin Timberlake and Jennifer Garner - say they have experienced increasingly aggressive tactics by the paparazzi.

Ms. Garner, a frequent paparazzi target, was enthusiastic when asked about US Weekly's change of policy. "I'm so happy that US Weekly is taking a step in this direction," she said. "Who knows, maybe their actions will save a life. I hope that the new policy is enforced and that other magazines follow suit."

"Daredevil" co-stars Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, who reportedly is pregnant, probably will get married quietly once they wrap movie projects in Canada.

Garner, the star of ABC's "Alias," was in Canada for the filming of "Catch and Release" while Affleck was wrapping shooting on "Truth, Justice and the American Way."

"She's starting to show -- they have to get married soon!," In Touch magazine's Tom O'Neil said.

"We predict once production wraps they're going to get married quietly."

Affleck proposed to Garner at an April bash in Brentwood, Calif., to celebrate Garner's 33rd birthday.

Ben Affleck's publicist has quashed rumors that he and girlfriend Jennifer Garner tied the knot over the weekend.

Ken Sunshine told "Access Hollywood" that it was not true that Affleck and the 33-year-old star of the she-spy TV series "Alias" said "I do" at a hush-hush wedding out of the media spotlight.

Rumors of the Hollywood nuptials broke on Saturday when a florist and wedding planner in Wheeling, W. Va., told The New York Daily News that Garner had ordered a bridal bouquet and six bridesmaids' bouquets for a late-night ceremony at the posh Greenbrier Resort (search) in the Allegheny Mountains.

Brandon Tucker, who owns the Briarwood Flower Shoppe, said that Garner wanted the bouquets to include ivory Virginia roses, Casablanca lilies and gardenia.

"I was just dumbfounded," Tucker told The Daily News. "In Wheeling, not too many celebrities come in. I should have worn something different."

The rumor mill has been working overtime on the celebrity couple, who met on the set of the 2003's comic book-based action flick "Daredevil."


Gossip Web sites and tabloids have buzzed for months that Affleck proposed to Garner at her birthday party last April, and that the pair are expecting a baby, which is due sometime in November.

Publicists for both stars have categorically refused to comment on the report, but Garner has been spotted wearing a 4.5-carat Harry Winston diamond ring in recent months and appears to have gained some weight around her middle.

So far, the low-profile couple have managed to keep the nature of their relationship under wraps, appearing publicly together only once at the 2004 World Series in Boston.

The never-married Affleck's relationship with pop star Jennifer Lopez was the favorite fodder of tabloids until the pair split in 2002. The 'Bennifer' breakup came just days before they were scheduled to walk down the aisle in a lavish ceremony in Santa Barbara, Calif., and was a media sensation. Garner divorced actor Scott Foley in March of 2004 after four years of marriage.

Affleck, 32, is currently filming "Truth, Justice and the American Way," a biopic on the life and mysterious death of 1950s "Superman" star George Reeves. Garner, whom Forbes magazine recently rated as the fifth best-paid actress in Hollywood, is filming a romantic comedy, "Catch and Release," and is working on the fifth season of "Alias."

Florist Brandon Tucker says Jennifer Garner bought wedding arrangement yesterday. Did they or didn't they?

West Virginia was abuzz with rumors that Hollywood hunk Ben Affleck was tying the knot last night with Jennifer Garner, the supersexy superspy on "Alias."

The wedding was supposedly taking place at the Greenbrier Resort, a five-star, 6,500-acre hideaway tucked in the mountains of West Virginia, where the actress grew up.

Resort staff and Affleck's publicist denied that a wedding was taking place last night, while Garner's mom said she didn't know of any nuptial plans.

But a florist in Wheeling, W.Va., told the Daily News the 33-year-old Garner walked into his store, Briarwood Flower Shoppe, yesterday morning to order a bridal bouquet and six more bouquets for attendants for a 9 p.m. wedding.

"I was just dumbfounded," said floral designer and wedding planner Brandon Tucker. "In Wheeling, not too many celebrities come in. I should have worn something different."

For the bride, Tucker said he created an elegant bouquet of ivory Virginia roses, Casablanca lilies "and of course gardenia."

Garner - who reportedly is pregnant - has been sporting a hefty 4.5-carat Harry Winston diamond ring since mid-April, when Affleck allegedly popped the question at her birthday party in Brentwood, Calif.

She insisted her daughter was "in New York City on a photo shoot" last night. Affleck's publicist, Ken Sunshine, also denied a wedding was scheduled. He said his client was in New York, too. The wedding would be the second for Garner, who split from actor Scott Foley in 2003. It would be the first for Affleck, 32, who became a tabloid staple - not to mention half of "Bennifer" - during his engagement to actress/singer Jennifer Lopez. They called off their wedding in 2003, just days before a lavish ceremony was to take place in Santa Barbara.

Warner Bros. has acquired remake rights to the 2004 Japanese hit "Be With You," with Jennifer Garner starring and producing via her newly formed Vandalia Films banner says Variety.

Originally directed by Nobuhiro Doi from a novel by Takuji Ichikawa, "Be With You" used a supernatural element to a common love story formula. On her deathbed, a dying young woman tells her husband and young son that she will return to them. A year later, father and son happen upon a woman who bears an uncanny resemblance to the dead woman.

Studio will set a filmmaker shortly to steer the script adaptation. Garner, who launched into features after the success of the J.J. Abrams-created series "Alias," recently wrapped "Catch and Release," a romantic comedy for Columbia written and directed by "Erin Brockovich" scribe Susannah Grant.

Soon-to-be-Mrs-Affleck Jennifer Garner is to star in a remake of 2004 Japanese hit Be With You. But don't switch off yet, readers – at least this one isn't a horror remake. It may or may not involve people coming back from the dead, but not in an eat-your-brains or haunt-your-house sort of way.

The original was more of a family drama, directed by Nobuhiro Doi. It tells the story of a dying mother, who promises her husband and son that she will return to them. A year later they come across a woman who bears an uncanny resemblance to the dead mother – and start to wonder if she has really kept her promise.

Presumably Garner will use this as a chance to show off her acting skills in a role which requires more of her than ***-kicking and wearing tight catsuits, talents she honed so well in Elektra and her TV series Alias. What's more, herer newly formed Vandalia Films production company will be producing the film as well, so expect this to be the start of a whole new string to her bow.

Actress to extend Asian-export trend with 'Ghost'-like 'Be With You.'

When Naomi Watts wanted to make a name for herself while getting terrified, she looked to Japan's "Ringu" (which, in turn, became "The Ring"). Jennifer Connelly may already be a star, but this summer she'll similarly turn herself into a credible horror heroine by importing another blockbuster from our Asian neighbors, "Dark Water." Adding to a trend that now also includes Sarah Michelle Gellar ("The Grudge"), Jennifer Garner will star in "Be With You," an American-import version of the 2004 supernatural Japanese hit "Ima, Ai Ni Yukimasu."

Warner Bros. has acquired the rights to remake the film, with the "Alias" beauty starring as well as producing through her new company, Vandalia Films. One of the more popular of a recent wave of Japanese tear-jerkers, the "Ghost"-like film directed last year by Nobuhiro Doi recounts the story of a dying woman who tells her husband and 6-year-old son that she will return to them. Amidst an atmospheric rainy season a year later, the duo discover a woman suffering from amnesia. Taking her in, they are amazed by the similarities between the stranger and the woman they recently lost.

The fantasy-drama will be produced in America with the help of "American Beauty" producers Dan Jinks and Bruce Cohen and the production company responsible for the Japanese original. The source material for the original version was a novel by Takuji Ichikawa.

The pregnant Garner recently made a splash onto the big screen with the romantic comedy "13 Going on 30," then barely registered a drip a few months later with the clunky superhero flick "Elektra." She just wrapped production on the comedy "Catch and Release" with Juliette Lewis and Kevin Smith, and will likely hold off the start date of "Be With You" while she prepares for her most important upcoming release, a yet-to-be-titled film alongside companion Ben Affleck.

It's a Girl! I hear that JENNIFER GARNER has been telling family and friends that she and hubby-to-be, BEN AFFLECK, are expecting a girl. "They are thrilled," a source tells me. "They just heard, but they are only telling close friends." While reps for both stars have yet to confirm Garner is pregnant and the two are engaged, that hasn't stopped them from enjoying their happiness. In fact, another source tells me that Garner bought a Father's Day present for Affleck during a recent trip to New York City. The gift remains a mystery for now. The lovebirds have become quite the experts at keeping most of their private life just that -- private. For the record, their reps aren't commenting on the sex of the baby, either.

After months of speculation, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner have tied the knot and she's pregnant.

Representatives for both actors confirmed the marriage to The Associated Press Thursday. The publicists, Ken Sunshine and Nicole King, also confirmed that Garner is pregnant with her first child.

Sunshine and King would not give any other details.



The confirmation came after Us Weekly reported that Affleck, 32, and Garner, 33, were wed Wednesday at the Parrot Cay resort in the Caribbean islands of Turks and Caicos. The National Enquirer also released photos it claimed showed Garner arriving on the islands.

In stark contrast to Affleck's much publicized relationship with Jennifer Lopez, he and Garner have been tightlipped about their romance from the start. Aside from appearing at a Boston Red Sox game last fall, they have stayed out of the public eye.

Reports in April about an engagement were never confirmed. In May, E! News reported that Garner was pregnant and the baby was due in November, but neither star confirmed that report.

This is first marriage for Affleck and the second for Garner. The "Alias" star divorced actor Scott Foley in March 2004 after 3 1/2 years of marriage.

Affleck and Lopez called off their September 2003 wedding and broke off their engagement in January 2004. Lopez married singer Marc Anthony later that year.

Garner and Affleck met while they were shooting the action flick "Daredevil," but they didn't begin dating until last year.

It's official: Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner have tied the knot.

Representatives for both Affleck and Garner confirmed the marriage to The Associated Press on Thursday.

The publicists, Ken Sunshine and Nicole King, also for the first time confirmed that Garner is pregnant with her first child.

Sunshine, who represents Affleck, and King, who represents Garner, would not give any other details.

Wearing white, the pregnant Alias star sealed her union with Ben on a sandy beach on the Turks and Caicos island yesterday evening.

With the sun setting, her costar Victor Garber watched as Jen, 33, and Ben, 32, embraced and kissed.

And The National Enquirer was there to witness the romantic moment.

The couple flew to the paradise hideaway yesterday morning, accompanied by Victor, who plays Jen's CIA agent father in the hit TV show.

Hollywood's hottest couple could have spent their honeymoon with the hot dog guy, the Toastman and Pyro the mascot.

Instead, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck will have to settle for a baby shower with those characters. Or at least they're invited.

You, too, are invited to Charleston's largest baby shower Friday night at Appalachian Power Park, where the West Virginia Power baseball team will host "Jennifer Garner Baby Shower Night."

"I don't know if they'll make it or not," Power general manager Andy Milovich said about Garner and Affleck. "It's a hectic time for them with a marriage and a baby on the way. Hopefully, they're in need of some R and R and will come out."

Publicists for the two actors confirmed last week that Charleston sweetie and "Alias" star Garner, 33, tied the knot with Affleck, 32, on a Caribbean island Wednesday. Representatives also confirmed that Garner is pregnant with her first child.

Boston TV station WCVB reported that Garner and Affleck were rumored to spend Fourth of July weekend in Charleston with Garner's family, but Milovich said he believes the two are still on their honeymoon.

Part owner of the Power Alan Levin is in Los Angeles and has ties to Hollywood, Milovich said. Through Levin, the team was able to officially invite the two to Appalachian Power Park for the baby shower.

Affleck's recent attire indicates he may actually consider the offer. Affleck, a long-time Boston Red Sox fans, was photographed wearing a Power T-shirt in "US" magazine in May.

Affleck hasn't been to any games, so a friend or relative of Garner must have picked up a shirt for him, team officials said. If Affleck and Garner accepted the invitation for Friday, the team would likely host them in one of the luxury suites. Then again, they'd be welcome to sit wherever they wanted, Milovich said.

Of course, it would be rude to not invite the family to the baby shower. Milovich said he'd like to make the occasion a family affair by hosting the entire Garner clan.

Garner's mother, Pat, contacted this morning, declined comment.

Milovich acknowledged of Friday's event, "This is a tongue-in-cheek promotion, but it's also a time to do something fun and benefit a great cause."

As part of the promotion, the Power asks fans to bring a "shower gift" in the form of diapers, baby wipes, food, formula, wash, shampoo, lotion and baby clothing or maternity clothing. Items will be donated to Starting Points, a local nonprofit organization that serves needy children under 8 and their families.

"To do that with the help of Jennifer and Ben, it seemed like a great idea," Milovich said. "This is a chance to celebrate the life of a significant Charlestonian and benefit a charity at the same time."

Any fan that brings a donation to the ticket window will be admitted into the game for free. Season ticket holders will receive a ticket voucher for a future game.

Also, if you can prove that your name is Jennifer or Garner, you'll receive a free ticket to the game.

After the game, the 2003 superhero flick starring Garner and Affleck, "Daredevil," will be shown on the big screen.

It's not known whether Rod Blackstone, the Power's Toastman, will give the couple the ceremonial toast.

Newly married, Affleck and Garner were back in Vancouver, where she is filming Catch and Release, on July 4. Though close Affleck pals such as Matt Damon, director Kevin Smith and producer Chris Moore didn't make the wedding, says Moore, "I'm happy they were able to have the moment to themselves. They're really excited."

There was nothing flashy about the newlyweds. She wore no makeup; her hair, in a losing battle with the humidity of Parrot Cay on the Turks and Caicos Islands, was tied in a loose ponytail. He wore a T-shirt and a five o'clock shadow. But as Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck chatted over pizza at Parrot Cay's Terrace Restaurant on July 1, there was much about the husband and wife that shined. Their rings, for starters.

On June 29 the couple of one year exchanged vows in a low-key island ceremony so small not even her parents attended. Two days later, sitting side-by-side on a couch at the Terrace bar, Mr. and Mrs. Affleck kissed, cuddled and ate chocolate torte.

Then, at 11 p.m., they hopped in their golf cart and started the 20-minute ride to their secluded villa – and the prized alone time that made for the ultimate wedding gift.

"They're in it for one another, not for anyone else," says Affleck's pal, director Kevin Smith. "They didn't need or want a crowd. They just wanted each other."

They got their wish – with a combination of cheers and sighs from friends who were sad they could not be there but understanding of why: in a word, Bennifer No. 1, Affleck's glitzy romance with Jennifer Lopez, which ended with the permanent postponement of their planned $2 million wedding in 2003. Affleck and Garner, who met while filming 2003's Daredevil, were afraid that if they told anyone about their plans, the news would spread. So they didn't – and it didn't.

"I'm so happy they pulled off such an intimate, private event," says Affleck's longtime friend, producer Chris Moore. "That wasn't easy."

Now that the fait is accompli, reps for both have confirmed not only that the wedding took place but that Garner is indeed pregnant – a fact that was unofficially obvious to anyone who saw her supertaut belly swell in recent months. The fact that until now the couple had kept their private life private is, according to his pal, director Don Roos, "a sign of maturity."

Says Moore: "Jen's got the right woman and he's excited about this new chapter in his life. He's really excited about becoming a father and Jen seems ecstatic. She's so in love and really happy to be married to him."

Of course, pulling off the secret wedding was not easy. (And not just because of logistics: The Turks and Caicos registrar general says they did not file an application for a marriage license, which foreigners may do only after being in the country for 48 hours. Reps for the couple declined to comment, but said they wereindeed married on Parrot Cay.) Most of their family and friends were absent: Garner's father, Bill; her mother, Pat; and her sisters Melissa and Susannah. So was Affleck's mother, Chris; his brother Casey; his father, Tim (who has been divorced from Chris for more than 20 years); and his pal Matt Damon.

Still, alone in paradise was not a bad way to start a life together. After the two landed in the Turks and Caicos Islands, they went by boat to a home that, sources say, belongs to Bruce Willis. There, they were greeted by vases full of lilies and roses and platters of cheese and potato chips.

The only glitch during their stay was the heat, which a source says was hard on Garner, now about four months pregnant. Luckily, she and Affleck did little more than stroll, rest, read The New York Times and hang with guest Victor Garber, who plays her dad on Alias.

"They just seemed like regular newlyweds," says a resort guest. "He was affectionate with her, but nothing over the top."

That moderation is, it seems, a key to their success. Like so many, Roos is delighted to see Affleck – "a hot dog and cheese-fry guy" – walk down the aisle with this Jen (whose two-year marriage to actor Scott Foley ended in 2003). "Most of Ben's friends thought [his Lopez era] ... with all the bling and excesses, seemed out of character. His relationship with Garner seems more who he is. He really is an ordinary guy and she's an ordinary girl."

Who soon will have an ordinary baby. (They know the gender but, no surprise, are not telling.) "I can't wait to see Ben change a diaper," says Roos with a laugh. "He's so huge, and the thought of him standing over a 7-lb. baby ... He'll be a great father. He's very patient. He's close to his mother, brother, father and family. What else do you need?"

Nothing – and Affleck knows it. "You know how you can tell Ben's happy with Jen?" says Smith. "He married her. He never married anyone else, but he married her. It says a lot, doesn't it?"

Hundreds of gift-bearing fans came to a West Virginia Power minor league baseball game on Saturday for "Jen and Ben Baby Shower Night."

Some 4,248 fans came, although Garner and Affleck were not in attendance. Fans named Jennifer and those who donated a gift were admitted free.

The promotion benefited the baby pantry for Starting Points, a nonprofit group serving children and the families of children under age 8.

Among the 410 donations were a car seat, diapers and baby food, Power account executive Matt Thompson said.

Garner, 33, star of the TV series "Alias," and actor Ben Affleck, 32, were not at the game. The couple wed last month.

Alias" star Jennifer Garner is supposed to give birth to a babygirl, who will be named Violet. It appears that Jennifer left a telling sign of the baby's sex while filming her new movie "Catch and Release" in Vancouver, Canada.

Talk about your awkward work situations. To earn his paycheck on "Alias," Michael Vartan must spend his days pretending he's expecting a baby with ex-girlfriend Jennifer Garner.

Sure, it sounds uncomfortable, and yeah, the former flames now generate as much onscreen heat as a pair of Otter Pops, but the furrow-browed actor enthuses to People that he's "very excited" about Mrs. Ben Affleck's impending visit from the stork.

"I think it's fantastic," he tells the magazine. "Very cool."

Vartan, whose future on the ABC spy series has been the subject of much conjecture, doesn't think Garner's delicate condition will slow her down, much as he wishes it would.

"It's hard, it's 14 hours a day, you know?" he says. "I hope she takes some time off. She needs to really take care of herself because she's such a workaholic. I can just see her working to the very last day saying, 'No, I really want to do this.'"

And with Garner's usual butt-kicking curtailed in the coming season, "it will be interesting to have to write around her for a while," says Vartan, who adds that no matter what happens plot-wise, "the baby takes precedence over 'Alias.' It's a no-brainer."

In related news, Us Weekly says Garner, 33, and Affleck, 33, who said "I do" in an ultra-private seaside ceremony in the Turks and Caicos on June 29, have applied for a U.S. marriage license.

The expectant newlyweds -- whose island wedding is valid if they processed their paperwork correctly -- reportedly turned up at a Beverly Hills courthouse on July 26 flanked by two police officers.

"They were whisked into the wedding room so they could fill out their license in private," a loose-lipped clerk tells the magazine.

Ben and Jen were issued a temporary marriage license that gives them 90 days to retie the knot in Los Angeles County, leading to speculation that they are planning a second celebration, perhaps this time with family and friends (but probably not Vartan) in attendance.

Actor Ben Affleck decided to quit smoking for his baby's sake, helped by his beautiful wife, "Alias" star Jennifer Garner. It appears Jennifer doesn't want Affleck to smoke in the presence of their future child.

Talks About 'Pregnancy Leak' In Media

Actress Jennifer Garner confessed she was very angry with the media for publishing she is pregnant with Ben Affteck's baby just days after she found out, because she didn't even get the chance to tell her close friends the big news.

"Alias" butt-kicker JENNIFER GARNER has been keeping mum on becoming a mom as well as about her super-secret wedding to her new hubby BEN AFFLECK -- until now! The down-to-earth actress opens up on her private life.
"We were able to have a beautiful, private wedding, and I couldn't be happier," she says in the September issue of InStyle of her June 29 nuptials to her 'Daredevil' co-star. "My life is definitely changing for the better. I couldn't be happier or feel more comfortable with the direction it's going in."

The pair is expecting their first baby this winter and Jennifer does admit she's a bit nervous about the new addition. "Clearly I'm in the middle of a life shift," she says. "I don't know what things are going to be like, so of course I have moments of apprehension and in-over-my-head-ness. I think I'd be a fool not to."

She says she takes comfort in the fact that women become mothers every day -- and that hers will only be a phone call away! "I'm not the first person to have a baby and try to balance a relationship and work," she says. "And P.S. -- I had a really good role model. As excited as she is about her new family, she knows to keep some things private. "It's so personal for me," she says. For a couple that has tried so hard to keep their private life, well, private, Jennifer Garner may have just let the cat out of the bag about her and Ben's upcoming bundle of joy.

The “Alias” star appeared on the “Tonight Show” Tuesday night and refused to answer Jay Leno when he asked if she was having a boy or a girl.

But later in the show, when Garner began to talk about her expanding belly, it seemed she inadvertently slipped.

“You can just start to feel really pregnant, like you are the hugest person on the face of the planet,” she said. “I felt bigger and bigger, like she...”

The audience erupted in applause as Garner laughed and stopped in mid-sentence, realizing what she had just said.

But it wasn't the first time Jen has slipped up when talking about her baby.

When Access Hollywood's Nancy O'Dell spoke with her on the red carpet of this year's Emmys, the two joked that since the baby is being written into the plot for “Alias,” the baby should be collecting a paycheck.

“I hope your baby's getting paid,” Nancy joked.

“I think that's a great idea! She..... yes... definitely,” Garner said, again realizing what she had said and quickly stopping herself.

Luckily for Jen, a sense of humor has served her well, especially since her pregnancy has indeed been written into her hit show. Her character, superspy Sydney Bristow, discovers that she's pregnant with fellow agent Michael Vaughn's (played by Michael Vartan) baby.

“My stand-in has a bump, and my stunt double has a bump,” she revealed. “The other day, I walked in, and my stunt double looked a little different to me and I said, ‘Did they graduate your bump?’ ... And she said, ‘Yeah, we went to a bigger bump.’”

Always the trooper, even though Jen is just months away from delivering her baby, she's hard at work back on the set of “Alias” for a fifth season.

Nancy recently paid a visit to the set to catch up with the mom-to-be to find out if the baby was affecting the show.

“You're doing a lot of pushing and shoving,” Nancy joked.

“Don't worry. It's all fake,” Garner laughed.

“Now I see you're glowing,” Nancy added. “I can't tell if it's because of the new season or the pregnancy.”

“You just decide on your own,” Garner grinned.

“Probably a little bit of both,” Nancy suggested.

“Maybe,” a coy Jennifer played along.

However, Jen told Access Hollywood at one point, they actually considered trying to hide the pregnancy on the show.

“We talked about trying to hide it and I just said that's ridiculous,” Garner admitted. “First of all, I think it's a really honest, mature, real storyline for her to play and for me to get to play with her. Also, it would just be ridiculous right now, if not in a couple of months.”

Garner married actor Ben Affleck in June. Dressed in a cream colored empire waist, straight gown with a sea-colored sash, the 33-year-old Garner said her vows to 32-year-old Ben on the Caribbean islands of Turks and Caicos.

During our set visit, she told Nancy that her life is about as close to perfect as it gets.

“Life is good in general. Even when things are a little sloppy, there are things you can look at and say, 'Wow! This is a really great aspect of my life' and maybe I didn't know about it before or didn’t appreciate it,” Jen said. “Then there are times where everything is going right at the same time and you just have to love them for all they're worth. I feel like I'm in the middle of one of those, so I'm just appreciating it.”

Garner must be losing her mind. She'd have to be. In the last few months she's got married to Ben Affleck and allowed him to get her pregnant almost immediately. And now, while her hormone-inflated body is at the height of it's postnatal transformation, she's reportedly going to prance around in front of a camera naked for the forthcoming Disney erotic thriller Sabbatical.

The story's premise reportedly follows a couple that hits the seventh-year-itch of marriage. To inject some life into their union, they decide to take a two-week sabbatical from each other during which, within a set of agreed rules, they can do whatever they want. When the wife returns to the agreed-upon meeting place two weeks later, however, she discovers that her husband has disappeared.

Sabbatical might well be the first decent mainstream erotic thriller in years. After all, Jennifer Garner has an enormous following [cyberpedia has her as the 13th most searched celeb] and many are comic book fans who have all fantasized what she looked like naked throughout every second of Alias and Elektra. Presumably, Sabbatical might fulfill their wish.

Garner Gives Birth to Girl

NEW YORK -- Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck welcomed a baby girl into the world Thursday.

Representatives for both actors confirmed the birth to The Associated Press. Their publicists, Ken Sunshine and Nicole King, said the child was born at 6:26 p.m. (EST) Thursday.

"Mother, father and baby are doing great," Sunshine and King confirmed. They would not give any other details.

It is the first child for Garner, 33, and Affleck, 33, who were married in June.

The confirmation came after several media outlets reported the baby's birth — hours before the time of birth supplied by Sunshine and King. Us Weekly reported the baby was born Wednesday night, and E! News said the couple had named her Violet.

Affleck co-starred with Garner in 2003's "Daredevil," her first big movie role, but they didn't begin dating until last year.

Garner was previously married to actor Scott Foley. They were divorced in March 2004 after 3 1/2 years of marriage. Affleck and Jennifer Lopez called off their September 2003 wedding and broke off their engagement in January 2004.

Affleck will star as George Reeves, television's Superman, in the upcoming movie "Truth, Justice, and the American Way."

It was announced last month that Garner's ABC series, "Alias," will end its five-year run in May. Her pregnancy was written into "Alias" for her character, a globe-trotting spy.

Jen, 33, whose due date was reportedly Dec. 8, gave birth at 6:26 ET on Thursday in L.A., the stars' respective reps confirm to the mag. Affleck was with Garner throughout the delivery, according to Us Weekly, which says she was induced on Wednesday night.

"Mother, father and baby are doing great," the flacks said in a statement.

No word on a name, but the privacy-loving couple, who secretly tied the knot on June 29 on the Turks and Caicos Islands, is said to be leaning towards Violet.

Garner inadvertently revealed the sex of the baby back in September, when she was explaining to Jay Leno about how self-conscious her expanding waistline had made her.

"You can just start to feel really pregnant, like you are the hugest person on the face of the planet," said Jen. "And then I felt just bigger and bigger like she ..."

The toothsome twosome, who first met on 2001's "Pearl Harbor" and worked together a year later on "Daredevil," reportedly began dating in the summer 2004, after Garner had split from husband Scott Foley (and later her "Alias" co-star Michael Vartan) and Affleck had run screaming from the media beast that was Bennifer.

A mole claims to the New York Daily News that the coffee-fueled couple, who in the early days of their romance would have stealthy early-morning Starbucks dates, have landed a "seven-figure" deal "to drink, be photographed with and generally promote" the brand.

While it's true that Ben and Jen love their lattes, reps for both the actor and the company insist the shill talk is a load of hooey.

Ben and Jen's Baby Violet Settles In

Not long after Violet Anne Affleck came into the world on Dec. 1, pals of her famous father were making sure she got his religion: baseball, that is.

"We're going to raise this baby right," Marc McGovern, one of Ben Affleck's oldest buddies from his hometown of Cambridge, Mass., tells PEOPLE. "So she's definitely going to be getting a lot of baby Red Sox gear in the mail from me."

She may have been born in L.A. – a continent away from Fenway Park or the hills of her mom's home state of West Virginia – but the firstborn child of Affleck and Jennifer Garner, who weighed in at 6 lbs. 14 oz., is destined to trace her roots back East.

Meanwhile, her parents are already at home in their new roles as Mom and Dad. "Ben has been changing diapers. He's an amazing father," says a friend of the couple's. "I don't know if I've ever seen anybody happier. He's already wrapped around Violet's little finger."

Violet, whom their pal describes as "beautiful – you instantly fall in love with her," arrived just a week after Garner and Affleck, both 33, shared Thanksgiving at their Brentwood home with her parents. After a complication-free delivery at an L.A. hospital, Violet (a Garner family name) was born at 3:26 p.m. Pacific time. The couple, who wed in June in the Turks and Caicos islands after dating for a year, brought her home three days later.

As for Garner, already known as something of a den mother on the Alias set, where she often brings homemade brownies, "she's an amazing mom," says the friend. Needless to say, both are overjoyed. "You took two of the best people, who have the most love and affection for each other, and just when you think the ultimate is the two of them finding each other, this little girl came into their lives."

The DAREDEVIL co-stars, both 33, exchanged vows in June (05) and had planned to buy a property where they would raise their new family, but with the arrival of their bundle of joy, they put it all on hold.

Affleck moved into Garner's Brentwood, California, home and struck a deal to sell his old five-bedroom home in the same area - which he'd purchased from MELISSA ETHERIDGE in January (05) - for $5 million (GBP2.7 million).

Jennifer Garner has officially taken her hubby Ben Affleck's name and changed her name to Jennifer Affleck, according to a published report.

The new mom reportedly wants to be known as Jen Affleck so she can share her surname with her baby daughter Violet.

People Magazine notes that the new parents each made $500 donations to Massachusetts gubernatorial candidate Deval Patrick's campaign recently.

An item on the People web site notes that Affleck is an ardent Democratic supporter, and Garner (Jen Affleck) is apparently following in her hubby's footsteps.

Patrick's press secretary Libby DeVecchi told People:

"Jennifer Garner's donation was listed under Jennifer Affleck. And no money yet from baby Violet, but we have three out of four Afflecks – and the baby is too young to legally give!"

"Alias" star Jennifer Garner hit up the Sunset Strip this weekend, but it wasn't to go bar hopping or clubbing -- the new mommy was in Los Angeles to host an event for the I Have A Dream Foundation at The House of Blues.

"Extra's" Carlos Diaz caught up with the butt-kicking new mom as she made her first public appearance since giving birth two months ago to baby Violet. So did Garner find it hard to leave her bundle of joy at home with hubby Ben Affleck? "I'm checking my watch, yes," she confessed. "But I'm okay… I'm happy to be here!"

Jen and Ben have been laying low at their Georgia home in recent months, taking quiet strolls with the new daughter. But Jen's return to the spotlight was for good reason; the I Have A Dream Foundation, which benefits low-income children, was also honoring legendary actor Samuel L. Jackson.

"I've had similar experiences that a lot of these kids had," Jackson said.

So is this event even closer to Jen's heart now that she's raising a little one of her own? "It's always been special to me," Garner said. "And now that 'Alias' is going away, I hope to get more involved with kids directly."

And no doubt this do-gooder will do just that! But first, Jen begins work again on "Alias" this Wednesday, gearing up for the mother of all series finales due this spring.

New mom Jennifer Garner is determined to shed her baby weight because she doesn't want to wind up looking like fellow new mom Britney Spears.

According to a report is the Star, Garner was shocked into motivation for losing weight when she saw an unfaltering picture of the former toned pop tart Brit.

"The recent picture of a double-chinned Britney must have been a wake up call for Jen," says a friend of the actress. I heard pictures like that terrified her into seeing how she could become."

As a result says the source, Jen is even more determined to get back her fabulous body.

"It showed Jen that unless she shook herself out of the new mom thing she's in, she'll just sit back, eat more and soon outweigh Britney."

Garner has loads of support from hubby Ben Affleck as he has even pressed the svelte starlet to hire a nanny so she can have more time to work out and get back ito shape.

Jen so far has refused, but says she won't feel sexy again until she loses the baby fat, the item dishes.

Jennifer Garner is said to be so enamored with her baby daughter, Violet Anne, that she is having trouble focusing on her job. On a Feb. 1 shoot for her show, Alias, Jennifer reportedly would run back to Violet, who was only ten feet away, as soon as the director would yell cut.

"She suffers from separation anxiety even when Violet is 10 feet away," says an on set insider.

Jennifer is also reportedly looking to leave Hollywood for awhile as soon as her last season with Alias is complete, which is in three months. The source added that she can't wait to " be finished with Alias for good." The actress is rumored to be planning a change to full time mother as soon as possible.

Jennifer Garner talked to Extra about slipping on her dress at Sunday night's Academy Awards.

''I almost went down,'' she said, laughing. ``I was so close to going all the way down to the ground, I can't even tell you.''

Known for doing her own stunts, Garner -- who's married to Ben Affleck -- was surprised that she lost her balance.

``I kind of stepped on the lining of my dress and I just felt myself, my feet absolutely going out from under me. In that moment I was thinking in all the stunts I've done, in all the things I've done, I never fall. I'm so cautious and careful and here it's going to happen in front of billions of people!''

Well, maybe not billions: An estimated 38.8 million people watched the telecast -- an 8 percent drop from last year and the show's worst outing since 2003.

New mother Jennifer Garner has abandoned her extreme diets implemented by 'Tinseltown mothers,' and is now adopting a light exercise routine as well as practicing eating healthy, according to a published report.

The sexy actress, who is married to Ben Affleck and gave birth to their daughter 'Violet' in December of '05, has recruited Valerie Waters, a fitness expert, to drop the weight gained through her pregnancy.

The fitness expert explains, "Jen is on target to getting back her pre-baby figure through moderate exercising and sensible eating."

"She's not jumping on that celeb mom bandwagon of getting super-skinny, super-quickly."

"She is more concerned about keeping healthy and spending time with Violet than anything else. So because she's a busy career woman and a hands-on mom who nurses the baby, it's unrealistic for her to aim for a rigorous exercise regime."

"I think it's great that Jen doesn't obsess about her weight and is losing it at a sensible rate."

Jennifer Garner & Ben Affleck Scare: Rush Baby for Medical Care

New parents Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner got quite a scare last week when their little baby Violet came under stress and was having trouble breathing.

In Touch Weekly is reporting that on April 8 the 4-month-old adorable little girl had to be rushed to a medical building in Century City, Calif.

It seems Violet was having difficulty breathing, says an insider, who adds that the baby was also tested for asthma.

The weekly tabloid cites an eyewitness that said, “Ben and Jen looked so worried. As Ben carried Violet, Jen kept peering into the blanket to check on her.”

They got their little girl in for care and about an hour later, a much calmer family emerged, and they headed straight home with Violet.

No word on whether it was asthma or just some sort of an allergic reaction but the mag does report that the insider says Violet will undergo more testing.

Here's hoping it is indeed nothing serious.

Jennifer Garner Is Happy To Be Doing Stunts Again
April 21, 2006

Jennifer Garner desperately missed doing stunt work while she was pregnant and was thrilled she had the chance to jump off a 10-story building last week. The Alias star did quite a bit of her own stuntwork on the show and had to take it easy while pregnant with daughter Violet.

She explains, "I haven't done any of that stuff since I've been pregnant, so I told the stunt coordinator, 'Let's do it ... after I put the baby to bed.'"

The star leaped off ABC network's office building last Saturday while filming the last season of her hit TV series. She adds, "When am I ever going to get the chance to jump off of the ABC building again?"

The star, who plays superspy Sydney Bristow on the show, will soon put her daredevil days behind her. A source from the show says the actress is ready to stay home and "be a good old-fashioned mommy".

Jennifer Garner Joins The Kingdom

Jennifer Garner is in final negotiations to star in the thriller, The Kingdom for Universal Pictures.

She'll be starring opposite Jamie Foxx and Chris Cooper in the film, direced by Peter Berg. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the story revolves around an FBI team on assignment in a Middle Eastern country investigating a terrorist bombing in one of the compounds housing Western workers.

Matthew Michael Carnahan has written the screenplay; production begins next month in Arizona. A 2006 release for The Kingdom is set.

Academy Award winner Reese Witherspoon and Alias star Jennifer Garner recently visited children in New Orleans who lost their homes during Hurricane Katrina. The actresses chatted with the kids and did art projects before watching a song and dance performance.

"I don't think you get a real clear perspective unless you come down and see it," Reese told the Associated Press after spending time with students at a Freedom School, which helps kids. "The children need attention right now."

The visit was part of an effort by the Children's Defense Fund to help raise awareness and address the needs of Katrina's youngest victims. The group plans to open more than 20 such schools in communities along the Gulf Coast: 13 for Louisiana and nine for Mississippi, the AP reports. The school is in a part of New Orleans that was under 5 feet of water after Katrina hit in late August. About 1.2 million kids under the age of 18 are living in areas rendered disaster zones by the hurricane, the AP reports, and as many as 100,000 are expected to develop post-traumatic stress disorder, according to various estimates.

Many children are showing lingering symptoms of trauma, including nightmares, flashbacks and heightened anxiety.

"I've been shocked and heartbroken," said Jennifer, star the film Elektra, who cried during a performance by the school children of "Something Inside So Strong" by South African singer Labi Siffre.

Jennifer Garner costumes on display

A late-breaking addition to the Avampato Discovery Museum's current costume exhibit comes from Charleston's own Jennifer Garner. This week, the museum in the Clay Center got two costumes Garner has used in her Emmy Award-winning TV spy thriller, "Alias," the show in which she plays Sydney Bristow.

The costumes have been added to the exhibit, "Fashion in Film: Period Costumes for the Screen," which is on display through June 11.

Garner's offerings include this blue dress, made of rubber, and the high-heeled shoes and rhinestone choker she wore with it.

The rest of the exhibit includes costumes from major motion pictures, including "Titanic," "Evita," "Out of Africa," "Pride and Prejudice" and "Gosford Park" worn by such actresses as Nicole Kidman, Gwyneth Paltrow, Colin Firth, Meryl Streep and Elizabeth Taylor.

Seems that Ben Affleck’s little wifey, Jennifer Garner (http://www.tsinoy.com/forum/newreply.php#), is quite the handy gal in the kitchen. Um, not.

The “Alias” star confessed on “Live with Regis and Kelly” yesterday that one of her first acts in the couple’s rented Cambridge digs was to set off the fire alarm, prompting the Cambridge Fire Department to arrive at the Tinseltown twosome’s door - hatchets in hand!

The hot news flash came whilst Garner was regaling Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa about the joys of being a Cambridge wife and mom as Ben prepares to direct his first feature film (http://www.tsinoy.com/forum/newreply.php#), “Gone, Baby, Gone.”

“It’s great just being home,” said Jen, a devoted disciple of domestic diva Martha Stewart. “I’ve been cooking a lot.”

Which prompted Kelly to inquire “Are you a good cook?”

“I love to cook but, um, I do have a little problem,” Sydney Bristow’s alter-ego confessed. “Sometimes I’ll cook a little hot.”

Jen went on to say that she put some oil on the stove to heat, then got distracted and the burning fat filled the house with smoke.

“We’re staying in a rented house, and I didn’t know how to put the vent on over the stove,” she said.

Consequently, the fire alarm went off.

“And it’s saying ‘Fire, please leave the building. Fire, please leave the building.’ ”

And then the phone started ringing and baby Violet started crying and hubby Ben started yelling. Well, you know the drill . . . .

“He’s upset,” she said of the man of the house. “So he rips the thing out of the wall. Sorry, people we are renting from! We will fix it!”

(That would be American Repertory Theatre bigfoot Robert Brustein.)

The next thing Jen hears is sirens wailing - and they are coming closer and closer.

“Here they come,” she said of the Cambridge firefighters. “Hatchets, hats, full gear. We hear pound, pound, pound, pound, pound on the door. There were like eight firemen and I said, ‘Well, I can fix you dinner. But it’s probably gonna be burned.’ ”

Ben & Jen Settle Into Parenthood

How do you make a big lug like Ben Affleck go all warm and fuzzy? Ask him about the new woman in his life: his 6-month-old daughter Violet.

On May 9 the Cambridge, Mass., native poked his head into Cataloni’s, a Boston neighborhood bar, while scouting locations for his directorial debut, Gone, Baby, Gone. And fan Dawn Pirone couldn't resist asking him about his first child. "His face lit up like a Christmas tree," Pirone tells PEOPLE in its new issue. "He said, 'She's beautiful.'"

He's not the only one feeling the love. Pals say Affleck, 33, and wife Jennifer Garner, 34, are reveling in raising little Violet – especially now that the family is nesting in Cambridge for the summer while Affleck shoots Gone, a detective thriller based on the 1998 novel by Dennis Lehane.

"Ben enjoys playing daddy," says a friend. "He's in love with his little girl."

And while teething is "a little uncomfortable for her," Violet "is delightful," adds a friend of Garner's. "She is just the apple of their eye – beautiful and happy."

As for her proud dad, he's not missing his swinging Hollywood bachelorhood much. "That's all behind him," says Gone producer Alan Ladd Jr. "Now he’s very serious-minded. He goes to bed early these days and gets up early."

Pal Peter Berg, who is directing Garner’s upcoming action thriller The Kingdom, says Affleck’s newfound maturity enabled him to write the script for Gone and take the director’s chair (the movie also stars his younger brother Casey). "There’s a maturity about him now," says Berg. "His life is taking him in a new direction that’s going to be really satisfying."

Jen rushes Ben to Hospital

“Gone, Baby, Gone” director Ben Affleck was rushed to the emergency room at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge yesterday afternoon after suffering a painful migraine attack.

ffleck was driven to the hospital by his concerned wife, Jennifer Garner, at around 2:30 p.m. He was released about two hours later. A spokesman for the actor-turned director said Affleck was “recuperating at home.”

“Ben Affleck was treated for a migraine at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge today,” said a statement from publicist Ken Sunshine. “He was released (yesterday) afternoon.”

According to an eyewitness, the couple left their rented Cambridge home just outside Harvard Square with Garner at the wheel of their Jeep and Affleck lying down in the back seat. They arrived at the hospital a few minutes later and Garner helped Affleck out of the car.

“He looked kind of sore,” said photographer Paul Adao, who saw the couple at the emergency room. “His wife ran around the car and helped him get out. He was a little shaky and she was asking, ‘Are you OK?’ that type of thing.”

Adao said Affleck appeared to be holding a towel or an icebag in his left hand.

About two hours later the couple emerged with Ben wearing a police cap and an emergency room bracelet on his wrist. A driver backed their Jeep up to the door and they quickly jumped in and made the short trip back to their home.

Affleck has been in Cambridge for about a month working on his big-budget directorial debut, and the stress may be getting to him. The new husband and dad, whose acting career has been on the skids, badly needs a hit with this movie to propel his career in a new direction.

The Oscar-winner seemed in fine form all last week in Dorchester and Southie where he was behind the camera filming the big-screen version of Boston author Dennis Lehane’s thriller about the disappearance of a 4-year-old girl.

The flick stars Ben’s brother, Casey Affleck, and Michelle Monaghan as Lehane’s hard-boiled Dorchester detectives Patrick Kenzie and Angie Gennaro. Ed Harris, who plays a police officer who helps the pair solve the kidnapping, recently arrived in Boston to shoot his scenes. Morgan Freeman is also expected to join the cast. It is unclear whether Affleck will be well enough to resume filming

Jennifer Garner Turns Down Dallas

Actress Jennifer Garner has turned down her offer to star in the cinema adaptation of the television series Dallas.
According to hollywood.com, the star of Alias, Daredevil and Elektra, has told the film's producers that she did not want to work with Jennifer Lopez, who will also be starring in the project.

Lopez was previously engaged to Garner's husband, actor Ben Affleck. Garner and Affleck have been together since July, 2004, and are the parents of a six-month old daughter, their relationship began seven months after Affleck and Lopez split.

Other celebrities to star in the film Dallas include Luke Wilson (Bobby Ewing), John Travolta (JR), and Shirley MacClaine (Miss Ellie).

Ben and Violet share a family moment

Ben Affleck and wife Jennifer Garner attracted attention in Boston over the weekend while they were simply picking up coffee. The couple went to Darwin's at the edge of Harvard Square on the way to the set and attracted many people, whose hearts were apparently melted because of the way Ben played with Violet while mommy got the coffee. A customer said that "Ben [is] obviously gaga over the baby, [he] played with and talked to her while Jen got the stuff." Apparently no fans actually approached them, with many saying "it seemed to be a sort of family moment."

The couple, who had been living in Massachusetts while Ben directs his new movie Gone, Baby, Gone, split this weekend when Jennifer and Violet left for Arizona to start filming Jen's new movie.

Jennifer Garner was seen out again this week, once again sporting what x17online thinks may be a suspicious baby belly. We posted a few pictures last week of her on set of a new movie, and now these pictures have surfaced as well. It could quite possibly just be a little left over weight from her pregnancy last year, but you never know.

Jennifer and husband, Ben Affleck, have a daughter, Violet Anne, 7 and a half months.

The Afflecks home, sweet home in Cambridge

Tinseltown twosome Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are giving up the glitz and glamour of La-La to raise their daughter in Cambridge, Us Weekly reported on its Web site yesterday.

“They realize it’s important to be as ‘un-Hollywood’ as they can,” a pal told Us Weekly.

As you are sooooooooo aware by now, the Afflecks have settled quite nicely into a rented manse near Ben’s childhood home in the People’s Republic whilst he films “Gone, Baby, Gone.” (The film wraps Aug. 4.)

And the Hollywood honeys appear to be quite content with life in Harvard Square as they take daily walks with little Vi in the carriage, chatting up neighbors and fans along the way. Can’t do that in paparazzi-infested Brentwood!

The couple, according to the maggie’s sources, plan to commute to the Left Coast for film projects and other movie star commitments, but would call Cambridge home.

And why not? Ben’s mom, Chris, lives nearby, Jen’s sis lives in Newton and ya know how the “GBG” director loves the local politics (they’ve both ponied up to Deval Patrick’s gubernatorial campaign).

Ben’s PR man Ken Sunshine, who “doesn’t respond to stories originating in the tabloids,” told the Track his client has had “a great time while filming in Boston. But that’s all he’s focusing on for the moment.”

The Jen-Fans gallery has two great new photos of Jennifer Garner and Violet Anne, 7 1/2 months, arriving at Logan Airport in Boston by private plane on Tuesday evening. Jennifer and Violet had been in Arizona the past few days while shooting The Kingdom, but came home to visit Ben Affleck.

However, the attempt to leave the airport did not go as smoothly as everyone originally anticipated. According to the Boston Herald, Jen and Violet got into the SUV waiting to take them to Cambridge only to find that there was no carseat installed. Jen was apparently "adamant" that one be found, and "took the baby in the terminal and didn’t come out until someone returned with a seat...When the guy did come back with one, it took him about 20 minutes to figure out how to secure it. She wasn’t happy.”

Violet is pictured sucking on a Gerber NUK pacifier ($3.99 for a set of two). No diamond encrusted pacis for this little one!

Affleck dashes to sick Garner's side

Ben Affleck jetted to Arizona to be with his ailing wife, Jennifer Garner, after the actress passed out in 43 degree heat.

New mum Garner was shooting the upcoming movie Kingdom in Phoenix last week when she was overcome by the heat and fainted.

A set source says: "She overexerted herself."

The Alias actress, 34, was taken to hospital while frantic aides tried to get in touch with her husband, who flew from Massachusetts to the desert as soon as he heard the news.

Garner was released the next day and spent time relaxing with her concerned husband before returning to the film set.

Jennifer Garner Back To Work

Jennifer Garner passed out due to the heat while filming her new movie "The Kingdom" in Arizona last week, according to an online report.

However, Access Hollywood has confirmed the actress is doing fine and is back at work.

On Friday, Access obtained this exclusive statement from Jen's rep:

"Jennifer wasn't feeling well after working all day Friday (August 4) in the Arizona heat, went to the hospital and was released the next morning. She is back on set and healthy."

On Saturday, August 12, Access Hollywood's Billy Bush sat down with Garner's husband, Ben Affleck, to find out the latest on Jen's condition.

"How is Jen doing?" Billy asked.

"She's great. Absolutley fabulous," Ben said. "Today she's in a desert, upside-down spinning around in car that's pretending to have been blown up in 110-degree heat in Phoenix."

"And you're here with me," Billy laughed.

"That's my wife," Ben smiled.

"Kingdom" follows a team of U.S. government agents that is sent to investigate the bombing of an American facility in the Middle East. The film also stars Jamie Foxx, Chris Cooper and Jason Bateman.

The film is directed by Peter Berg ("Friday Night Lights"; "The Rundown").

"The Kingdom" is slated for release in April 2007.

Garner Great at Rally

"Our fight to unseat Richard Pombo is a fight for the beauty and natural heritage of California, my new home," Garner said. "It's a fight for the beauty of West Virginia where I grew up. It is a fight for the ecological preservation of the United States. It's a fight for the world I want my little girl to inherit."

Having flown up from Los Angeles that morning, Garner, who starred in the ABC series "Alias," posed with fans before and after her four-minute speech until she was whisked away. Her husband, Ben Affleck, the star of such movies as "Pearl Harbor" and "Armageddon," did not make the trip because he was ill, Garner explained.

"We were supposed to be up here together, but Ben has a migraine and he's flat on his back," she said. "That's what six years of George Bush and a Republican Congress will do to you."

Jen Garner: I'm Not Pregnant!

Jennifer Garner wants to put the pregnancy rumors to rest. In Elle magazine's January issue, she says, "No, everyone calm down. Nobody's pregnant...You still have that little bit of extra skin, know what I mean? But still, it's enough for people to think that you're knocked up."

Her hubby Ben Affleck only fueled the fire when he recently told Ellen DeGeneres on her show that he wants more kids.

Jen, who's new flick, Catch and Release, hits theaters next month, says, "I'm in the worst shape ever. My trainer just shakes her head and says, 'This is a disaster.' It's such a horror in front of the mirror with no clothes on."

Compared to her physically fit days while starring in Alias and Elektra, she says that now, "I am as physically unfit as I've probably been in my whole life. It's such a horror in front of the mirror with no clothes on."

She's happier chatting about the time she spends at home with her 1-year-old daughter Violet whom she spends most of her days at home with. Violet "is saying 'ee-i-ee-i-o' — and 'mama!' she says proudly. "My husband is superinvolved and very present...[Ben] is a very understanding individual. A compassionate, generous guy. He's great with [Violet] and she loves him, which makes it a lot easier on me."

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner have daughter baptized

She doesn't get the same press as Suri Cruise or Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, but Violet Anne, the daughter of Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck, has some pretty popular and beautiful parents too and they baptized their baby girl on Christmas Eve at the United Methodist Christ Church in Charleston, GA. According to Monsters and Critics, the baptism took place at a church near where Garner grew up.

Monsters and Critics reported that Violet spent the day sharing the baptism with her cousin Alex at the church where Garner's parent, sister, and brother-in-law are still regulars. Pastor Randy Flanagan held the ceremony, witnessed by ordinary members of the congregation, and confirmed the baptism to the press. Flangan noted to the Charleston Daily that he believes it was the first time that Affleck and Garner have attended the church together.

The Pastor also told the paper that he knew in advance that the two would be there and that the baptism would take place but there was no extra security or out-of-the-ordinary measures taken. He told the Charleston Daily, "They just came to church. We were able to celebrate the baptism for two children in the church. It was a very special celebration. I can say that about every baptism at the church. It's a special privilege for every single child we baptize."

Flanagan spoke to the paper about the presence of Garner's family at the church, "I appreciate the Garner family very, very much. Bill and Pat (Garner's parents) are very precious people to the church. It really was just a nice Sunday and nothing out-of-the-ordinary." He added that he had never met Garner before Sunday's service by that "She's a really nice person."

Affleck educates Garner on politics

Former ALIAS star Jennifer Garner is getting a lesson in politics from her husband Ben Affleck.

The PEARL HARBOR star has always been fascinated by current events and is helping his wife become more educated when it comes to world affairs.

She explains, "I didn't grow up in a politically active family like he did, and I'm jealous of him that way.

"I've always felt slightly behind. But it's like baseball: The more you know about it, the more you like it.

"I'm finally learning the difference between Sunni and Shiite, you know what I mean? And thank goodness, I find that (Ben and I) are pretty much on the same page."

Jennifer Garner says being a mother has changed her life more than she ever could have imagined.

"Having a baby fills your life in such a way that no matter what you're doing, there's something bigger," the mom of 1-year-old Violet said Saturday while promoting her new movie Catch and Release. "I've just been in heaven being with her the past year."

In the new issue of PEOPLE, Garner, 34, shares more about bringing up baby with husband Ben Affleck, also 34:

How motherhood changed her: I call my mom now and say, "You know all the dinners you made that I said 'No' to and went off and ate peanut butter? I'm sorry. I get it. I slaved over roasting this, and (Violet) goes, 'No, no, no!' "

Lessons learned: I was rocking her, and she was fascinated by the light hitting the ceiling. I thought, "God, for the past five years, I haven't stopped to look at light on the ceiling for (one) second." To slow down and go at her pace has been such a gift.

Losing the baby weight: It took me a long, long time. I just wasn't that motivated. I wanted to play with her. Then I got on the treadmill, stopped stuffing my face and lost the weight. I cut out croissants, bagels and muffins – all the good stuff. And went back to having a salad once a day and protein.

Ben Affleck on daddy-duty: He does a good job. I mean, okay, maybe I wrote out what he was supposed to make for her (to eat) today while I was gone. But that's just me being paranoid. He's great – he can do it.

On the Mommy-Daddy bond: There's nothing more emotional than seeing your partner – the man you love – with your baby at any time: the first time, the second, yesterday, today. There's nothing more beautiful.

Garner Tells How Ring Fell Into a Drain

NEW YORK -- Jennifer Garner revealed a secret Wednesday that she'd been keeping from Ben Affleck: She nearly lost a ring he had given her after the birth of their 1-year-old daughter, Violet.

Garner, who stars in Columbia Pictures' "Catch and Release," said the mishap occurred while she was primping for the movie's premiere.

"He gave me this beautiful diamond ring and I was playing with it and ... it fell off. And it fell under this ice maker in the house — he (Affleck) hasn't even heard of this yet — and ... it fell into the drain under this ice maker," the 34-year-old actress said on "Live With Regis and Kelly."

"And the plumber had to come and dismantle the thing from under the house. And he found it," she said, holding up her hand to flash the sparkler.

"And Ben hasn't even heard that," said co-host Regis Philbin.

"I should have warned him," Garner replied.

Garner and Affleck, 34, were married in June 2005. Violet was born later that year.

"Catch and Release" opens Friday.
