The making of A Bittersweet life DvD which will be distributing out into the market on 20th April 2005 has recorded all making scenes of the movie as well as parts of the movie itself in an hr's duration.

Not only that but interviews of Lee Byung Hun, Eric Mun and the rest of the casts will be included as well.... besides, director Kim & the producers will also brief on the content of the movie itself. The whole DvD production will be released in both Korean & Japanese version at 3 Million Won (approx 2,940 hollywood Jen).

Its the 1st time that Japan is releasing the making DvD of a movie even before the movie is even screened. This is due to the high popularity of Lee Byung Hun and the other co-stars in Japan, not only that but it also amazed ppl at the rapid development of Korean movie industries.

A bittersweet life movie story involves the relationship btw the successor of an organization acted by Lee Byung Hun and his boss's woman. The story itself will start off by the internal conflicts btw the members themselves.... starring Lee Byung Hun & Eric Mun will be screened in cinemas everywhere on 1st April in Korea.

Briefly translated :

Recently, the news of the popularity of Lee Byung hun in Japan had been reverted back to Korea.

Korean drama "Beautiful days" which was telecasted over Japan's NHK channel, the 1st episode received a rating of 10.2% and had overtaken "Winter Sonata" whose ratings was only 9.2%. This once again proved the power of Lee Byung Hun.

His popularity had also received overwelming response. The copyright of his new Movie - "A bittersweet life" was sold to Japan by 340 Million USD (approx 38 billion won) and the movie will be shown in Japan and Korea at the same time as well, not only that but it had also attracted at lot of Korean enterprises who voluntered to be the movie's sponsers.

Naturally, the popularity of Lee Byung hun did not happen overnight, even before Korean wave even started, there was already alot of his supporters in Japan. Some times back, when Byung Hun was invited to Japan for his movie "Addiction", there were abt 6,000 of his fans who went to support him.

It was also from that event that made Byung Hun feel that he was so popular in Japan. His movies "Addiction", "JSA", "Everybody has a secret" and "Beautiful days" were so popular that all his other works were also selling like hot cakes. His charm continued on which lead to his raise in poplularity tremousously.

Even now, his new movie "A bittersweet life" wif director Kim, not only has a good storyline and also proven the unique charm of Lee Byung Hun once again.

With no airs about him, Korean Heavenly King Lee Byung Hun will be arriving in Singapore via Flight KE 641 at about 7pm. The next day Saturday, he has accepted the local media's marathon 6-hour photo and interview sessions!

Korean superstars' promotional tours are fewer unlike HongKong or Taiwan stars, and thus there is stricter regulations ..also.. when they step out, it's "like a whole village following".. as in the case of Bae Yong Jun.. Won Bin .. both these stars travelled with at least 10 people in their entourages. By comparison, Lee Byung Hun seems more simple - when he arrives this Friday, only his Manager, assistant and the Japanese DVD company representatives totalling maybe 4 - 5 persons.

Just into Year 2005, we had Flowery Pretty Boy Won Bin visiting in January, Lee Byung Hun in February... just these 2 months alone, Singapore had 2 Korean superstars visiting. It appears that Singapore has become a new promotional turf for these heavenly kings.

Lee Byung Hun is supposedly coming to promote his "Brave" and "Human" DVD, but in fact, last year he was approached by a movie company and due to prior schedule, he was unable to commit to anything. This time round, his visit is at the request of the local media, and according to a spokesperson, the costs and expenses incurred in this promotional campaign for Lee Byung Hun is already in the 6-figure sum.

Lee Byung Hun will be staying at Grand Copthorne River Front Hotel. He will be given the same presidential suite which Bae Yong Jun and Won Bin occupied during their visits. When Lee Byung Hun went to Tokyo, Japan last year to promote his Dvd... he hugged a 79 year-old lady ... the latter whispered gently into the ears of the old lady, telling her that he planned to open such a fans gathering again 20 years later and requested the old lady to continue to support him. His gentleness touched the old lady deeply as well as the 2000 of his fans.

On the other hand, whilst being interviewed by Japan's NHK programme -" News 10" ... the "actions" at that time was noted by the media as "not giving face" to the compere. This was what happened at that time - during the interview, the compere asked Lee what was the type of gals that he prefered and Lee answered that the question been asked is not revelant to the news programme at all... Some of our local medias has even been to Korea to interview Lee Byung Hun once... most of the medias ve not been in close contacts wif him yet but based on the amt of time and allowance he has given generously to them has been proven that he contains no 'airs' as compared to Won Bin and Bae Yong Jun.

* THE POPULARITY OF THE GIRLFRIEND *

Among the love life of the 4 'Heavenly king.... Lee Byung Hun's is the most outstanding among the 4. This was because the popularity of his "girlfriend" is very high.. He fell in love wif Song Hye Gyo 2003 after the filming of drama - All in... a pity that both of them have to end splitting up. The breaking up news is even marked as the one of the "top 10" entertaining news in showbiz at that time. Does the breaking up of Lee and song has anything to do wif Choi Ji Woo??

Lee and Choi teamed up again in movie - "Everybody has a secret" .. in one of the scene, there was even a "hot and sizzling bed scene" .... at that moment, Lee Byung Hun and Song Hye Gyo are already at the discussion of marriage... both explained that the "bed scene" was only acted "like friends"... following the breaking up wif Song, Choi's name was put together wif Lee's...

Korean Heavenly King Lee Byung Hun charmed his fans of his recent trip here with his friendliness and warmth

FOR someone so big, Korea's Four Heavenly Kings, Lee Byung Hun doesn't have his heads in the clouds.

No entourages - he arrived in Singapore last weekend to promote his self-titled DVD box set with only his manager and assistant in tow.

No personal makeup or hair stylist - he employed the services of our own celeb hairstylist, David Gan, and stylist Johnny Khoo.

And loads of spontaneity: He asked to see what Singaporeans do on the weekends, and even tried reverse bungee on a whim.

Instead of holing himself up in his ivory tower - or in this case, the presidential suite of Grand Copthorne Hotel - the 35-year-old, who is perhaps the most easy-going of the royal quartet, chose to mingle with the locals.
SATAY LOVER

On Friday, the popular actor tasted chilli crab and satay at the popular Ubin Seafood (Keppel) open-air restaurant, much to the pleasant surprise of other diners.

The next evening, he took a stroll down Boat Quay and Clarke Quay, and did the unthinkable - the G-Max reverse bungee.

Miss Christina Bong of InnoForm Media, who accompanied him, told The New Paper: 'He said he wanted to see the local culture and what we do on weekends, so we took him to Boat Quay.

'When he saw the reverse bungee, he immediately said, 'I want to try it. Looks like fun'.'

Before she could react, the star of All In and Joint Security Area was already heading towards the five-minute ride, together with his manager and assistant.

'We were like 'Wow!', but he was so cool about it. He didn't scream. He was smiling away, waving and stretching his arms out. He really enjoyed the ride.'

The third Korean Heavenly King to visit the Lion City after Bae Yong Jun and Won Bin (leaving only Jang Dong Gun), Byung Hun is known to be sporting, adventurous, and a craver of new challenges.

During the media conference held at Grand Copthorne yesterday morning, he spoke about his biggest passion - acting.

Over 50 members of the media, including a few from Japan and Malaysia, were present.

Flashing his trademark pearlies, Byung Hun said through an interpreter: 'A lot of younger actors ask me how I learnt acting, and my advice to them is, you have to experience all kinds of emotions, be it embarrassment or shyness.

LIVE REAL LIFE

'Actors have to live other people's lives, so you have to relate to the common people and their lives.

'You cannot be too detached. You cannot pretend. You have to experience how real people live their real lives.'

True to his words, Byung Hun, who holds a degree in French literature and speaks reasonably good English, has extended his stay here by one or two days to 'see more of Singapore', according to a spokesman.

Celeb hairstylist David Gan was singing Byung Hun's praises.

'He's the first Korean star I touched! He's very charming and easy-going. No airs at all,' David told The New Paper.

'He doesn't behave like a star, but he already has that X-factor in the way he carries himself.'

Simple is the way to go for Byung Hun, as David said he likes his hair natural. No thick layers of foundation for his face either, only concealer to cover spots.

Voted by fans as Korea's Most Perfect Man and Most Reliable Man, he is a nice cross between Yong Jun's extreme gentlemanliness and Won Bin's cool aloofness.

Byung Hun speaks eloquently, laughs easily, gestures a lot, and has a habit of fiddling with his wavy fringe.

He admits frankly: 'I'm not a perfect man. Okay, I try to be perfect when I'm working. But in real life, I'm quick-tempered and sometimes clumsy.'

But that temper didn't show, not even when asked about the recent controversial 'entertainer's X-files' - an in-depth study commissioned last November by a top Korean advertising agency on the advertising value of 99 A-list Korean stars.

Byung Hun was alleged to be stingy, while his ex-girlfriend, actress Song Hye Kyo, was said to have broken up with him over unusual sexual requests.

ELUSIVE

Byung Hun just smiled and said in English: 'Sorry, but no comment.'

As for whether he and Hye Kyo still keep in touch, he let out a hearty chuckle, rubbed his chin, cleared his throat, and finally decided to feign ignorance.

'I didn't understand!' he said with a playful laugh.

When we protested that he obviously understood the question, he chuckled again and said in English: 'Yeah, sorry but I want to concentrate on the promotion of my DVD.'

Being the representative of Korean wave artists, Lee Byung Hun & Bae Yong Jun will be having a "battle" thru NHK in March.

The reason behind being, the dramas that both of them representated in namely "All In" and "First Love" will be telecasted on Japan's NHK TV station, not only that the showing time is even abt the same, therefore the "battle" in terms of ratings is unavoidable.

Bae Yong Jun's drama "First Love" will be telecasted on 31st March thru NHK's cable channel no 2.

Whereas Lee Byung Hun's drama - "All in" will be a repeated telecast from 14th march onwards.

Korean drama "All in" acted by Lee Byung Hun & Song Hye Gyo has already been telecasted thru NHK's cable channel BS2 once on 1st April last year. The whole drama was shown for 20 weeks.

As "All In" and "First Love" will be showing at the "Golden slot" of 11pm. "First Love" will be showing on every Thurs, whereas "All In" on every sat... as to what kind of results both dramas will produce, in terms of the closeness in showing time, will be the next hot topic to be concerned of.

Total Conquest

Korean Wave, besides having recently erupted strongly in Japan, unexpectedly descends upon Singapore. Known as one of “Korea’s 4 Heavenly Kings” Lee Byung Hun, came to town to promote his personal DVD. All female creatures in the surrounding radius of his location were hence electrified beyond description.

1. When asked at the press conference about his ex-girlfriend, Song Hye Kyo, Lee Byung Hun looked down and smilingly said “Don’t understand,” and “No comment.”, hence dodging the sensitive question.

2. Besides the local media, there were media representatives from Japan, Korea and Malaysia. Perhaps to make things easier for the Korean press, Mr. Lee chose to converse in Korean despite being having a good command of American-accented English.

3. 42 year old Japanese fan, together with her 13 year old daughter, dripped with sweat in the dressed-in-pink zone. Having shaken hands with her idol at the airport previously, she couldn’t bear to wash her hand for a whole day.

4. “Coming… coming…” A camera opportunity not to be missed. (note: the Chinese writing here is a pun… “ji1” bu4 ke3 shi1… ji1 as in xiang4 ji1… hence the pun… the joke can’t be translated into English properly… paiseh…)

5. Even other races are no proof against the Korean wave. One Malay fan Hayati gets to present a hamper to her idol, while another fan, (our very own panda, Inez!!!) and her family turned out in full force. (note: this is sort of my own caption because the reporter got it wrong, the report actually says that they are one whole family… heh)

6. During the question-prize session, a bold fan actually whispered the answer very close into bh’s ear, which incurred the protests of all the fans below stage. We shall not probe into the resulting fate of this particular fan…=)

7. 73 year old Madam Wang is already a great grandmother, and she came together with her granddaughter to catch a glimpse of Lee Byung Hun. She was absolutely delighted with just the glimpse of his shirt, that she couldn’t stop smiling widely. Another elderly Hong Kong fan exercised her “senior citizen” rights and sat in a chair in the sea of pink.

8. With such an example, the following fans grabbed every opportunity to fall into bh’s arms. LBH gallantly obliged and hence these fans walked onto stage but “floated” off stage…

Life is Long and Movies are Sweet.

Were the 6 months LBH spent working on Kim Ji-Woon's noir movie really "A Sweet Life"? One can tell just by looking at the traces Bittersweet Life has left on his face. So what is it that lights up his face? Check out the cover story.

You don't seem like a person who can multi task i.e. work on several things at the same time. Are you the type who focuses on doing just one thing once you have decided what it is you want to do?

I think so. When I was in middle school, I used to wonder at those people who had their walkman turned on while they were studying. I tried that once, just to look cool, but found that I focused more on the songs. Oh yes, there is something I can do really well. I can answer calls on my handphone or smoke while I am driving. (laughs)

When is the sweetest moment of your life?

When I am filming movies, the sweetest moment would be on the day of the premiere. I would be so nervous. But the truth is it is also a really happy moment for me. There would be a full house on the first day of my movies, even if they don't sell very well in the box office. The happiest moment is when I see that all the seats have been taken up in the theater, then I stand right at the back, and watch people's reactions. When I pass by a theater on the street and see that it is showing my movie, I would sneak in and watch. I feel that it is the only time for me to enjoy the fruits of my labor for the half-year that I have spent working hard on the movie. So, I enjoy these moments when I get to watch the audience, instead of the movie.

You pushed yourself real hard all through Bittersweet Life, don't you get to rest?

I worked on three movies consecutively in the period of one year. As the filming schedules clashed, I would have to stay up 3 nights filming Three Monster and then continue with another 2 nights of filming Everybody Has Secrets. That was death.

But you still managed to give the same charming smile all throughout Everybody Has Secrets?

No. If you look closely, you can see tiny zits sometimes. (laughs)

Your body has really suffered during the filming of Bittersweet Life, so you would hate to work with Director Kim Ji-Woon again?

No. If Director Kim asks me again, I would do it. We used to joke ... "Director, what is your next movie going to be?" "So far, I have done everything, except melos." "Oh, then I will prepare for a melo." That was how we joked between the two of us. (Laughs)

Isn't that what you said to make Director Kim feel good? Finally, I am really curious about something. Have you been hurt due to your short height?

When I was little, I used to wonder "why am I like this?," "why is my butt like that?" and "are my lips lopsided?". However, I realized that I was wasting time wondering about these things as they had been given to me by destiny. And I am not short, how tall do you think I look like?

Oh, I am hurt now. Many people guess that I am shorter than my actual height, but not a single person has guessed that I am taller than my actual height. I am 177 CM. 177!!

Movie 'A Bittersweet life' enters into its copy-right contract with 10 nations in Europe

As movie 'A Bittersweet life' starring Lee Byeong-Heon entered into its copy-right contract with 10 nations in the European Film Market of the 55th Berlin International Film Market, Lee Byung-hun is hitting the daily permissible ceiling in Europe.

There is just no logical explanation why Korean actors continue to captivate Asian women in recent years. In Japan especially, middle-aged women had fainted and screamed mindlessly when encountering Korean hunks such as Bae Yong Joon.

Apparently, yet another si lai sat sau (Cantonese term for a hunk who particularly appeals to middle-aged women) is the suave Lee Byung Hun, who has recently starred in the hit movie, A Bittersweet Life, and the popular drama, All In. A Bittersweet Life is scheduled for release in Japan and South Korea next month.

At the height of his success, Lee has launched a personal DVD set of two titles – Brave and Human – and a photo book.

The star was in Singapore for a promotional tour recently. The 1.8m actor walked into the press conference room at Grand Copthorne Hotel dressed in an Elvis-like ensemble of white jacket (with a super low V-shaped neckline that revealed his manly chest), matching white pants and shoes.

The confident thespian in rather thick make-up and faint lipstick, flashed a grin at those in the room, before proceeding to amuse them by grunting comically into the microphone to test the sound system.

In Brave, fans will get up-close and personal with Lee as he speaks passionately about his life and his 14 years in show business as well as savour some collages and candid shots of the star.

The lighter side of Lee is captured on Human as the camera zooms in on him touring Japan, Hawaii as well as his native South Korea.

“At first I was hesitant about coming up with a photo book and DVD set because this is more the habit of Japanese stars,” explained the voiced Korean-speaking Lee through an interpreter. “A lot of popular Japanese stars have done this but I have never worked with a Japanese creative team before so I thought of this as a challenge I have to take.”

Just like the autobiographical DVDs of fellow stars Bae, Won Bin and Jang Dong Gun, Lee’s became an instant success in Japan.

Furthermore, he found himself learning some valuable lessons from the Japanese crew as he disclosed with his trademark grin: “The Japanese crew was highly professional. I learnt some innovative working methods from the director and producer despite our cultural differences.”

In both DVDs, Lee appears at ease.

“I tried to be as natural as I could when filming the DVDs because I wanted my fans to see me as I am and not as Byung Hun the actor,” he described with panache.

“In Human, there is a scene of me jumping spontaneously off a water jet ski. There are many spontaneous and unscripted moments in the DVD.”

This former student of Hanyang University (where he majored in French literature) and Graduate School of Chungang University (where he studied theatre and cinematography) admitted that he does not speak French.

With that roguish smile and a wave of his hand, Lee quipped: “I started acting in my varsity days so I did not have time to pick up French.”

Clearly, not mastering French is the least of his worries right now as he is savouring every moment of being a revered actor.

“I love my work because through the different roles I play, I get to experience different feelings. I think the key to playing a role convincingly is to make sure you stay in touch with the layman to get a first-hand look at the wide range of emotions.”

To add another feather to his already well adorned cap, Lee was recently voted Most Reliable Man in a Korean poll.

With an endearingly dazed expression, Lee said: “I didn’t even know about this poll because there were too many polls being conducted. I think I was voted because I usually played a genuinely caring and thoughtful guy in my movies. And I try to be like that in real life as well. Maybe that is why my fans think highly of me.”

Lee seems destined for bigger things to come, if Hong Kong actor-director-producer Jackie Chan’s opinion is anything to go by. It was reported that Chan had named Lee as his number one choice if he ever gets the chance to work with a Korean star. Surely Lee must be reeling with happiness.

With a firm nod and an almost bashful smile, Lee disclosed that Chan has always been his favourite hero.

“When I was in primary school I wrote in the first page of my diary about how great Jackie was. I was so awed by Drunken Master (the movie which Chan starred in) and he was like a big brother to me then. Unfortunately, we don’t have the opportunity to work together as yet because of our busy schedules.”

On the romantic front, female fans might be curious if Lee still keeps in touch with his ex-flame Song Hye Gyo, who was his co-star in All In.

When the question was posed to the man, a foreboding moment of silence ensued before Lee burst into laughter and smilingly said: “No comment.”

The copyright of Movie - "A bittersweet life by director Kim has been sold to this company - " Studio Canal" in France. The person-in-charge revealed the news on the 21st that it has been sold to a France Distributor at the price of 2.7 Million USD. (Approx 2.8 billion Won) . Its copyright has also been sold to England, France as well as 10 over countries throughout.

在韓國熱播的《傷心戀歌》導演劉哲勇，原來也是李秉憲曾主演的《All　In》的導演。自《All　In》播出後，李秉憲和劉哲勇已有一段時間沒有見面

上月二十五日李秉憲在首爾市汝爾島一家咖啡店喝咖啡時，巧遇正在那座大樓拍攝《傷心戀歌》的劉哲勇，兩人更交談了一段時間。李秉憲事後更說這次遇上劉哲勇令他很高興，離開咖啡店後更特地請人為他們送上一箱蜜柑。劉哲勇在那座大樓拍攝至第二天清晨五時，而那箱蜜柑也趕及在眾人收工前送達，給工作人員一個大驚喜

On 25th last month, LBH co-incidentally met up Director Yoo( Sad Sonata) whom he had worked with previously in All In, at a cafe in Seoul.

Both had not met each other for a long while, and chatted for quite some time. LBH mentioned that he was very happy to have met up with Director Yoo again.

After LBH left the cafe, he had someone specially delivered a box of sweet delicacies to Director Yoo and staff who apparently were still at the site finishing their filming of Sad Sonata that early dawn. Everyone were pleasantly surprised by the gesture.

Lee Byung Hun received a pair of "golden chopsticks" from one of his Japanese fan.

During his DVD promotional trip to Singapore on the 20th Feb, fans from Spore, malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan and other Asian countries, showered him wif heaps of presents.

1,200 fans from all over the world attended the DVD official launch. There were huge posters of Lee Byung Hun everywhere on the day of event. The lucky fans who went on stage presented him wif all sorts of presents. The most outstanding one is a huge pair of "golden chopsticks" from a Japanese fan.

The person-in-charge from Lee Byung Hun's related company revealed on the 3rd that they ve actually interviewed the particular Japanese fan..... they were told that the "golden chopsticks" represents longevity. There was even a fan who presented him wif a "golden Rooster" .... as this year is the year of the rooster and they hoped that it will bring lots of luck to Lee Byung Hun.

On the other hand, 5,000 copies of his Dvds were sold out on the day of the DVD official launch itself, the satisfying good results also symbolis a good sign of success.

As the movie "A bittersweet life" will be screening in both korea and Japan at the same time on 1st April, therefore Lee Byung Hun will also take the opportunity to visit Japan in the middle of March.

如果說起『李秉憲的最大的魅力』，很多人都會記起他展示潔白牙齒的笑容。可是李秉憲卻認為這樣的笑容反而是自已一向的自卑感的來源，令人關注。

在4日播出的KBS 早上節目內以『對李秉憲是誤解，還是真實？』為題進行採訪。他表示覺得自已笑得難看，可是很多人卻認為他笑得好看，所以他亦因此而放下了自卑的情結。

李秉憲好像是一個就算喝醉了酒也會很冷靜、不胡亂多言的人。他說一半一半吧！在工作時他會正經規矩。

李秉憲表示：『很多人都說我是完美主義者，但這只是鏡頭前的印象，事實上不完美，也因粗心大意而犯了很多錯誤。如果觀眾看了我的電影而覺得享受的話，是身為演員的最大的幸福感。我會在其他作品中以不同的形象演出作為報答對各位的支持。』

What is most charming in LBH? Many people will mention that it is LBH full gleam, pure white teeth, smile that captures the heart. To the surprise audience, LBH actually thought that behind his such smile was some inferiority in him.

On 4th march, during the KBS morning show programme, the topic discussed in LBH interview was " Is LBH widely misunderstood or is he real?"

To that, LBH replied that initially he thought his smile was awful. However, he realised later that many people actually compliment and like his smile alot, that overcomes his inferiority in his smile.

Seem like in circumstances when LBH was drunk, he still maintained his calmness and coolness. LBH replied that it was half truth, but yes, when he was working.

LBH mention that many people think he is a perfect man, good example to follow, but this is only true thru the eyes of the camera that project the perfect image of him.
To LBH, he is far from perfect. He had make many mistakes due to his carelessness.

When the audiences enjoy his movie, as an actor, it give him great satisfaction.

In order to repay the ardent support from his fans, LBH will take on different character roles/images for his future projects.

This is Lee Byung Hun.
Perhaps I haven't got used to the time difference, so I woke up at dawn and have been sitting here at my desk just staring blankly, and ended up writing this message.

Completing 3 movies with no break in between sure wasn't as easy as I had thought. I have just returned from a relaxing vacation, that wasn't too brief, but was one that I had managed to take in a long time. Even though it didn't turn out to be relaxing after all ...

As I was preparing for my travel, I packed some books that had been lying around in my house, so I was able to keep myself from being bored during my travel and on the flights. Among the good works I have read, I remember these words from Shin Young Bok's Thoughts from Prison.

"People who have nothing believe that summer is better than winter, but we in prison, even though we may be suffering more than those poor people, would rather choose winter. Because a jail term in summer makes its 10 or even 20 advantages (when compared to winter) pale immediately due to one undeniable fact -- the truth is that a jail term in summer makes one hate the person beside oneself. As one lies sideways and tries to sleep in the narrow sleeping space available, one can only feel the person lying beside oneself as a warm body of 37 degrees. This is really the ultimate punishment, a stark contrast from the primitive friendship that arises when one draws warmth from the person next to oneself during winter ..."

Perhaps those lines quoted above don't make sense to you, but somehow I feel that there are many parts that describe my situation right now. Sometimes I have these extremely bitter and lonely thoughts ... that when we are weary with the very idea of our own existence in life, we become conscious of others' perspectives of ourselves and end up making ourselves and others feel the same way.

When I come across all these big, small and malicious rumors, when I have to face painful and difficult siuations due to the fact that I don't have an ordinary job, and when I can't muster the strength and courage to overcome all these problems, I wonder if all these events that have happened, whether they are happy or painful, have all been predetermined in destiny, so that I have to go through them in life.

Although the suffocating heat of summer makes one dread to even step outdoors, the cool rain comes soon afterwards. The heat cools off the land almost immediately, so we already know that we have entered the threshold of fall. Then the mountains and trees turn gaunt and wither away, yellow in the cold, but become lush and full with leaves again, just when we least realize the changes that time brings about. I wonder if I can have such a calm and peaceful mind to just let things run their natural course. Occasionally when I read articles, I find that they sometimes overrate me. There are also rare occasions when I have seen articles reporting positive events that are really opposite from the truth. At those times, I feel interested, grateful, but also miserable.

But what should I do about the complicated feelings I have about the current situation? I feel it would be really foolish and unnecessary for me to respond to these ridiculous, untrue, and infuriating statements. Who knows, the very fact that I am posting this message could be interpreted as me defending myself, or even me acting in the same way as them (when they wrote all those statements) ...

I am not going to bother about all this. I am not going to waste a lot of time and energy over all that. I have the premiere of my movies to look forward to, then I have to choose my next project, so there are many important things that I have to do, you know.

To become a famous sword, the sword has to to undergo grinding and polishing, cooling off in water after being heated at the flame, and finally finishing on the whetstone, all tedious rituals in a lengthy process, but necessary so that the entire world recognizes the famous sword for its true worth.

I believe what is happening right now is really like the process of becoming a famous sword.

They say that silence is golden, so I still would like to follow that way. However there are times when silence is not golden ...

韓流明星李秉憲的電影特別放映展將在日本展開。預計從5日至4月22日，在4個區域的電影院召開"李秉憲特別放映展"。

FYI,
To be able to meet their (Customs) quota for the year, so that they'll earn extra money...they're now implementing the 10% charge out of the total value of the imported goods that are coming from the Customs Post Office Department. So besides paying for the handling fee which ranges from Php 20-100, the recipient of the goods will have to pay 10% of the total value of the imported goods!

So I suggest that if you order online, opt for the Express Delivery/Door-to-door delivery! In this way, it's less hassle...the goods will be delivered to you! Unlike if you opt for the Standard Shipping, you have to claim your goods from the post office DURING OFFICE HOURS (M-F), commute in going there, and pay for the HANDLING AND 10% of the total value of goods! Argh! It'll become MORE expensive!

The Attrition Act of 2005, or Republic Act 9335

President Arroyo on Tuesday signed into law a bill to boost revenue collection, the latest in a series of tax reforms considered crucial to avoid an impending fiscal crisis.

The President thanked Congress, the business community and other officials for getting the lateral attrition law passed despite popular resistance to new taxes.

The law provides a system of incentives and penalties for employees of revenue-collecting agencies. Employees who exceed their collection targets get a share of the excess; those who miss them may be fired.

The law is expected to raise up to P30 billion a year because of the expected improved performance of the Bureau of Internal Revenue and the Bureau of Customs personnel in collecting taxes and duties.

The passage of the bill comes a week after the international credit-rating agency Standard & Poor's downgraded the country's credit ratings by one notch, partly owing to the government's failure to pass enough measures to deal with the fiscal crisis.

As she signed the bill into law, Mrs. Arroyo called for the swift passage of other revenue measures that have been stuck in Congress, saying that she was willing to listen to the opposition and the people in ensuring these new measures do not excessively harm the poor.

"There should be no divisions between pro-business or populist advocates. We must all be for one united, stable and prosperous nation," the President said.

Last year Mrs. Arroyo had asked Congress to pass eight measures designed to raise at least P100 billion through new taxes, fees or savings.

However, besides this newly signed law, only one measure, an increased "sin tax" on tobacco and alcohol products, has been passed.

The Attrition Act of 2005, or Republic Act 9335, sets up a Rewards and Incentives Fund and a Revenue Performance Evaluation Board to prod officials into raising their targets.

The Reward and Incentives Fund would come from the collection of the BIR and Customs in excess of their revenue targets for the year.

If the collection exceeds the target by 30 percent or below, 15 percent of the excess collection would go to the fund.

If the collection is higher than 30 percent of the target, 15 percent of the first 30 percent plus 20 percent of the remaining amount would go to the Rewards and Incentives Fund.

The money in the fund would be divided among the units, officials and employees of the two agencies.

The Revenue Performance Evaluation Board will allocate, distribute and release the money. It will also create the criteria and procedures for removing service officials and employees whose revenue collection falls short of the target by at least 7.5 percent.

The President is optimistic that with the strong ties between Congress and the executive, the measures to raise P80 billion would be passed without any hindrance and the country's economy would further improve this year.

"The buoyancy in the economy, combined with the equitable revenue program and a strong fight against corruption, is setting the stage for a decisive turnaround that will bring in investments and jobs for our people," she said.

The BIR has set a P547-billion collection target for this year.

BIR Commissioner Guillermo Parayno said heads will roll if the target is not met.

"I'm the first one to go if I don't reach the target," he said.

But he believes the target is achievable with the enactment of the lateral attrition law. - AFP and Ma. Theresa Torres

* SYNPOSIS *

The story-line of "A bittersweet life" is abt the conflicts btw the head of an underground gang leader who owns a motel and his faithful follower - Sun Woo (acted by Lee Byung Hun) as well as the common woman whom they both loved deeply, Hee Su. Sun Woo is his boss's most trusted right-hand man, who accidentally fell in love wif his boss's woman. As a result, he became the bitter enemies of his own organization overnight, which resulted him wif a no-return route.

The cool, smart and perfectionist Sun Woo... was highly trusted by his Boss Jang wif his capability and faithfulness. He was therefore being placed in charge of a motel in Seoul, from the day he manage the motel for his boss his "bittersweet life" has also began. The motel is a small paradise to Sun Woo where he contributed 7 years of his youth.

However, Sun Soo's "bittersweet life" is short-lived. This was because, his under-ground boss has a dark secret - that is the existance of his young lover - Hee Su. As Boss Jang suspected his lover has another man, therefore he sent his most trusted man - Sun Woo to watch over her and even ordered him to get rid of Hee Su immediately if she was really found together wif another lover.

During the 3 days of following Hee Su, Sun Woo found that she indeed has a secret lover. Just as Sun Woo was abt to finish Hee Sun off as per his boss's instructions... at that instance, he decided to let Hee Su and her lover off out of pity. It was because of Sun Woo's decision that angered boss Jang who latter found out the truth.... as a result, the whole organisation turned against Sun Woo overnight and resulted in a "battle" wif no turning back.

李秉憲拍攝新片「甜蜜的人生」，沒享受到甜蜜反而痛苦加倍。不僅被綑綁 12 個小時，而且連續 2 周淋了 100 噸的人造雨，最後還被埋在 3 公尺深塌陷的地洞裡，逼近死亡交界，非常辛苦。

在拍攝拷打部分，是在一處漁港倉庫中進行，李秉憲不僅得忍受反綁吊掛在空中，而且必須穿著被浸濕髒污的衣服，滿臉都是血的受傷裝扮。雖然李秉憲一下被綑綁、一下被潑水、一下又被活埋，不過，他工作態度還是非常敬業，開心的與工作人員聊天開玩笑。李秉憲苦笑說，在休息的時候，他身上還綑綁著繩子在抽煙，但是不知道為什麼，就像電影名稱一樣，感覺還是非常甜蜜，不過，說真的，這部電影的拍攝工作，比之前的 10 幾部電影加起來還要多出 10 倍的辛苦。

Lee Byung Hun changes his role to a Director!

LBH undertook the challenge of directing the MV of Bittersweet Life, which was sang by Korean singer Yang Pa.( Not sure whether this is her name)

This noir movie which starred Lee Byung Hun, Kim Young Chul, and Shim Min Ah, and directed by Kim Jee Woon, had been following the title of the movie closely.

According to the source, this is the first time in the Korean entertainment industry to have a lead actor directing the MV original soundtrack of the movie, what more, using all the ‘cuts’ version during the filming, to make this special edition of the MV.

The film company were pleasantly surprised with Lee Byung Hun great enthusiam in the whole project. They added that LBH had put in alot of his thoughts and feelings of Bittersweet Life in the making of this MV and it gave a charming refreshing appeal of the movie.

Currently, Singer Yang Pa is preparing a special new edition. She sang in the intial recording of the movie making with her timbre and latin flavour voice and her emotion reflected in the song, makes it very unique.

This movie, Bittersweet Life, will be premiered on 1st April 2005.

일본 산케이스포츠는 다음달 9일부터 도쿄 신주쿠에서 열리는 '한류 시네마 페스티벌 2005'에서 이병헌의 영화 데뷔작 '누가 나를 미치게 하는가', 권상우의 '동갑내기 과외하기', 송승헌의 '빙우' 등 예매권이 발매 즉시 매진된 3개 작품이 추가 상영된다고 17일 보도했다.

'한류 시네마 페스티벌 2005'는 일본 내 한류 주역이 된 스타들의 주연작과 한국에서 큰 히트를 친 영화 등 모두 22편의 한국 영화를 소개하는 영화제.

지난달 11일부터 예매권을 발매한 결과 폐막작인 문근영-김래원의 '어린신부'를 비롯해 '누가 나를 미치게 하는가', '동갑내기 과외하기', '빙우' 등 한류 스타의 작품들의 표과 완전히 팔렸다.

산케이스포츠는 예매권 매진 이후 영화제 주최측에 추가 상영을 요청하는 팬들의 전화가 하루 100통 이상 걸려왔다며 이같은 팬들의 요청에 따라 추가 상영을 결정하게 됐다고 전했다. roky@mtstarnews.com

Due to demand from fans, LBH, KSW, and SSH films will get additional showings at Japan’s Korean Wave film festival. The 2005 Korean Cinema Film Festival starts April 9 in Tokyo and Japan’s Sankei Sports announced on the 17th that they would be adding additional showings of LBH’s debut film, “Who’s Driving Me Crazy”, KSW’s “My Tutor Friend”, and SSH’s “Bing-Woo" after advance tickets sold out for these shows.

At the film festival”, 22 films starring Korean wave stars that are popular in Japan as well as films that were big hits in Korea will be introduced.

Advance ticket sales began last month on the 11th and starting with MoonGeunYoung-KimRaeWon’s “My Little Bride”, which will close out the festival, to “Who’s Driving Me Crazy”, “My Tutor Friend”, “Bing-Woo”, tickets became completely sold out.

When advance tickets sold out, Sankei Sports received over 100 calls each day from fans requesting additional show times and it was then decided that they would meet fan demands.
