(Jang Hyuk ) began his career in modeling, TV dramas such as "Model" and "School", music videos, and a minor role in the little-seen film Zzang. His career first began to take off in 2001 when he was cast for his first lead role in the special-effects extravaganza Volcano High together with actress Shin Min-ah. His acting in the eccentric role drew praise from fans and critics.

In 2002 he continued to make a name for himself, starring in the sleeper hit Jungle Juice, which made the top of the weekly box-office, and especially in the hugely popular TV drama "Joyful Girl's Success Story" with actress Jang Nara. He also took a role in Public Toilet, the HK-Korea co-production by acclaimed Hong Kong director Fruit Chan which won a Special Mention in the Upstream section of the 2002 Venice film festival.

napanood ko siya first sa Zzang... hinanap ko nun ung name niya sa net kaso no info dahil new pa lang siya sa industry nun. first movie niya un and tlga namang maangas na, gusto ko mapanood ung Jungle Juice kasi andun daw siya kso dahil luma na, di ko na mahanap. maganda ung volcano high, ung effects maganda tapos with kwon sang woo pa. kakatawa nga ung character ni Jang Hyuk dun eh kasi para siyang tanga pero sa totoo lang eh malakas siya.

d ko pa napanood ung please teach me english, pag nakahanap me ng dvd bi2lhin ko agad. f im not mistaken siya ung isa sa mga gangster sa a better day mv ng jtl. meron me nung album niya with GOD, ang cute niya sa Hey Girl video kasi kasama niya dun si Jeon Ji Hyun tpos hinahabol habol niya.

Korean Drama Wins Amnesty International Award


TV drama “Thank You” was honored with the 10th Special Media Award from Amnesty International. Starring Jang Hyuk and Gong Hyo-jin, the heart-warming drama was recognized for its frank, yet sensitive portrayal of a young AIDS patient and her family and friends.

An Amnesty International official said that “Thank You” was chosen because it dealt with a touchy subject that had not been broached in other TV dramas and taught the audience to respect AIDS patients and other underprivileged members of our society.

“Thank You” was Jang Hyuk’s first TV starring role following his controversial two-year military service. Jang fulfilled his military duty after being blasted for dodging draft by bribing military officials. His return to the TV screen proved to be successful, as he played a doctor who takes care of the young girl with AIDS and eventually falls in love with her single mother.
