Van Ness has just released a new series of jewelry named “3.V.O.7” in ‘Dazzling’ on the Valentine’s Day. He said ever since he’s 16, he started to design his own accessories like rings with the left behind diamonds from his mom!


He claimed it’s so easy to have sex relation with gals even without love esp., the time when he first became idol. He’s now 30 & longing to find his ‘Miss Right’ to have his own family. Now he has a different view towards girls: instead of just thinking of sex, he will make friends with them. So he vowed before God that he will not have any sex relation with any girl within 1 year.

“3.V.O.7” actually is the reverse of “LOVE”. When in love most people may get hurt but love is everything, so he hope with the release of this series can deliver a more positive message to others.

After having dabbled in a few ventures with friends…from clothing to shoe store, night club to record company, movie productions to talent angency…now finally comes something that I’ve always loved doing but never really had the chance of getting real hands on, until now. Jewelry.

I’ve always been drawing/designing but now thank God I finally met the right people to help put the visuals in my head into solid form. God is good people~ Believe dat! If you asked me why I didn’t come out with this line years ago…all I can say is…Timing. If I did release a jewelry line years back probably…no…mos definitely it would not have the passion, the look, the love of what it is today. Everything is about timing, God’s timing.

People say that stars shine, burn and die - but for a movie star like Sammo Hung, with all the sensationalised rumours about his death cropping up all the time, just doesn't seem to. The big guy can still jump and kick (and in the case of this movie, chop and grill) without so much as breaking sweat.

For those who are still wondering what's on the menu, "Kung Fu Chefs" is a combination of what general audiences like to see. In short, it has everything under one roof - great presentation of food, action, and of course, comedy. For "Kung Fu Chefs," not only the food captivates but also great showmanship from a cast on full power. It's like going back to the good ol' days when Sammo Hung and Stephen Chow teams up with Jackie Chan to do what they're best at.

If you're thinking that "Kung Fu Chefs" will be have a lot of super-fake or make-believe effects, think again. Sometimes, too much of special effects can be very confusing and unattractive and "Kung Fu Chefs" definitely avoids that by appetisingly serving up something worth watching and appreciating.

For fans of Vanness Wu who are drooling on this paragraph right now, you read it here first that the celebrated member of Taiwanese boy band "JVKV" (formerly known as "F4") has more mature looks now. He looks pretty good too, but somebody better take him off screen before he starts overdoing the new beefy body in front of the camera.

"Kung Fu Chefs" also see many kung fu masters from Stephen Chow's "Kung Fu Hustle" and Donnie Yen's "Ip Man" getting together to showcase their fighting skills. You can spot one or two masters in every angle showing off their skills.

All in all, "Kung Fu Chefs" is worth watching over the weekend with some friends. There are a few things you can pick up from watching the movie. Just a word of advice - make sure you don't watch this one on an empty stomach!

Taiwanese star Van Ness Wu finds God and looks to celibacy to start afresh

ONE of the pieces in Taiwanese American singer-actor Van Ness Wu's new jewellery line is called the Chastity Belt.

And the 31-year-old Taiwanese singer-actor says the piece - a ring designed to be worn on two fingers - is a current reflection of his life.

Van Ness, a Christian, claims he has given up his playboy ways and wants to focus on religion.

He told The New Paper: 'One of the things that I felt was keeping me from God was sex.

'So I told myself, let's just stop that right now.'

Van Ness was in town yesterday to promote his latest movie Kung Fu Chefs, which co-stars Hong Kong actor Sammo Hung and Japanese actress Kago Ai.

In the movie, which opens in cinemas today , he plays Ken, a martial arts foreign exchange student who loves cooking.

The actor, best known for being one-fourth of one of Taiwan's hottest boy bands F4 (now known as JVKV), said he has made a decision to remain celibate.

He has even changed the spelling of his name - from Vanness to Van Ness - the spelling of the road he was named after in his hometown of Los Angeles.

And it's not only his name that has changed.

He confessed that at the peak of his career in F4, he had led a life of 'fast cars and one night stands'.

Van Ness broke into showbiz in 2001, when he was cast with other F4 members - Jerry Yen, Vic Chou and Ken Chu - in the highly successful 2001 Taiwanese idol drama, Meteor Garden.

He said fame and fortune resulted in him losing his sense of self.

Van Ness, who has been linked to Taiwanese starlet Vivian Hsu and Japanese singer Aisa Senda, explained: 'There were days when I thought, 'how did I even get here?'

'I was concerned with the millions of dollars needed to buy a big house. I felt insecure and empty.'

The actor said he put his fast life behind him at the beginning of last year when he returned to the US.

He said spending time with his family and not thinking about work made him 'more grounded'.

Van Ness had given up his job as a telemarketer and moved to Taiwan seven years ago to pursue a career in entertainment.

His mother, sister and niece still live in the US.

But Van Ness said his new perspective on life didn't happen overnight.

'I have been a Christian for the past seven years but have I really lived up to that?

'I asked myself that and the answer was clear. Now I'm a changed man.'

Van Ness, attributes his renewed belief in religion as having helped him when he was down.

He recalled how he felt lost when he moved to Taiwan as a 24-year-old.

He said he was turned down a few times by numerous record labels and had turned to prayer to ask 'for a miracle'.

Before he knew it, he was cast in Meteor Garden and became part of one of the hottest boy bands in Asia.

F4 went on to release three albums and was the first foreign artiste to hold seven consecutive concerts in Japan, breaking the records of Taiwanese and Hong Kong pop sensations Jay Chou and Faye Wong.

Their group albums combined have sold more than eight million copies worldwide.

Van Ness, who has three solo albums to his name - his latest offering titled In Between released in July last year - has starred in movies such as Star Runner and Three Kingdoms: Resurrection Of The Dragon and Dragon Squad.

A different dream

Ironically, Van Ness confessed that he had never wanted to be part of a boy band.

His initial goal, when he made the trip to Asia, was to do TV and film.

He added that at the height of his career, he felt stifled by his management company, Fu Long, which he said dictated his image and choice of work.

Van Ness said: 'I'm not the type of person who likes to be confined.

'I wanted to do the music that I love, not something which the record company thinks will make money.'

But don't call him ungrateful.

Van Ness said he's happy for the path that being in F4 has paved for him and the 'roller-coaster ride of fame' was something that he had to live through and get out of his system.

He has now signed on with a new management agency, BST Corp - which stands for Blood Sweat And Tears - a company which he founded with 'people I trust'.

He plans to focus more on movies and TV dramas, but will also release a new solo album later this year.

He meets veteran chef, Bing Yi, played by Sammo, who takes him in as an assistant.

He also recently launched his jewellery line named 3VO7 (it stands for the word 'love' if the letters areflipped).

Having designed all the pieces himself, he says that the collection is an apt representation of where he is in life right now.

For example, on a pendant named Heart Trap, which is shaped like a mousetrap, the words 'save me' are inscribed behind - his personal message to God.

Van Ness said that he couldn't have done this two years ago because he wouldn't have been in the right frame of mind then.

He said: 'I wanted to make a statement with the pieces and I know people will listen.

'I used to be all about the bling. Now I am just about being positive and healing.'

Van Ness is also doing the English and Mandarin voiceover of bio-scientist Jack Griswold in new Animax film, LaMB.

The film, which debuts on Animax (StarHub Ch 84) on 24 Mar at 8pm, also stars Tanaka Chie and Josie Ho.

And probably as testament to the enduring success of his breakout TV series Meteor Garden, a third remake - in Korean - was recently released in January.

A Japanese version of the show, which is based on a Japanese manga, was released in 2005.

China and the Philippines have also jumped on the bandwagon and announced their own remakes of the series.

Van Ness said: 'I'm glad that our series made such a big impact. I do feel honoured.'

Martial arts meet Top Chef as singer Vanness Wu turns culinary for his new movie role

In the new action movie Kung Fu Chefs, actor-siner Vanness Wu plays a young cook who can whip up a delicious traditional Szechuan dish Fresh Water Bok-Choy (chinese cabbage).

But in real life, the best dish he can cook is simply an omelette.

The single 31-year-old was in town last week to promote his latest movie in which he plays a promising chef and martial arts fighter who takes part in a cooking competition to compete for the title of Top Chef.

We, who is in wildly popular Taiwanese boyband JVKV (formerly known as F4), tells Life! in a interview at Marina Mandarin Hotel: "The last time I cooked was many years ago. My cooking is not bad but I cook only for myself and have not really cooked for others before."

The Los Angeles-born actor is blase when comparisons about his film are made to Stephen Chow's famous Hong Kong comedy The God of Cookery (1996), which has a similar premise.

He says in his American-accented English: "There will always be comparisons so I won't worry too much about it. Just let it be."

Kung Fu Chefs is just the latest in a long line of movies with the words Kung Fu in its title, including Stephen Chow's Kung Fu Hustle (2004), Jay Chou's Kung Fu Dunk (2008) and Hollywood animated comedy Kung Fu Panda (2008).

Wu thinks the Mandarin movie industry should capitalise on the fact that martial arts is unique to the Chinese: "We should do what we are good at and not shy away from it. If something is unique and good, why stop?"

Sporting long shoulder-length black hair, Wu is dressed in a casual get-up of blue checked shirt and jeans. Although he looks tired, he is relaxed and chatty.

The actor broke into the entertainment scene with popular mange-based pioneer idol drama Meteor Garden (2001) along with fellow bandmates Jerry Yen, Vic Chou and Ken Chu.

He has come a long way from his F4 pretty boy days. Now sporting a more mature unshaven look, he says he wants to break out of his idol status.

He frankly admits that being in a boyband was not the ideal way of breaking into the entertainment scene: "There were too many riles and we had to sell this wholesome, clean-cut pretty boy image because that is what fans want. It was very restrictive and unreal."

However, he is grateful for his big break eight years ago. Now, the star is busy with his third album which will be released in Japan soon and a new unisex jewellery line he has created.

"I have loved drawing since I was young and I am glad that now I have the chance to put my designs into reality."

Even with a new movie, album and jewellery line, the busy man does not forget his fans: "I want to ask them to be careful and look after themselves. I am worried about their safety as some of them are always following me around in vehicles, and I don't want them to get hurt."

yup! nakita ko na yan...sinettle ko na rin sa kanya...as if my intention naman no...pinagmamasdan nga namin siya ni senorita nagtataka kami na aba tagal niya rin naghintay a...bilib kami! pero yun wala naman kaming intention takpan siya...excuse me...napakaharsh niya naman sa words, i really think naging oa lang siya...i'm sure were not that rude or anything kilala naman kami ng mga tao dito; kami pa ni senorita...

pero nakausap ko na siya...i also aired our side...we had no idea naman no...and yun nga nauna kami dun antagal din namin naghintay para dun...e ang liit nga lang namin kaya talagang hinold namin position namin dun...pero all is well...nakausap ko na nga siya...nag-sorry din siya for being rude sa comment niya...sinabi ko rin tuloy na buti narecognize niya filipina kami pero yun nga lang parang may prejudice or discrimation sa pagbanggit niya paulit ulit...nahimasmasan naman siya...hay naku! di lang kasi siya sanay no...sabi ko that it happens all the time and he may encounter meaner and more rude fans than us sabi ko lahat naman tayo would want to get a glimpse or take photos of him no lalo na kung naghintay ka ng matagal and you've traveled so far to see him...pasalamat pa nga siya at wala kaming dalang banners or lightboards or kung ganun pa kami katangkad to really completely block him...we were also blocked kaya we had to adjust also...(yung guard talaga sumingit pa in front of us as if naman nagsustruggle kami lumapit sa stage)...

and sabi ko pa if gusto lang din niya clear photos of him there are many available online and i'd also be glad to share to him what we've filmed if that's the case...kaya ayun...shinare ko sa kanya he was greatful naman...friends na kami...whoever it is - ako or senorita; of course, i apologized on our behalf...kung yun ang gusto niya mangyari basta kami we have no intention to block someone and were not even rude to the people there, you can even ask other fans there especially yung indonesian na katabi namin who we gladly took her pic dun sa may tarpaulin...we behaved perfectly the way filipinos should be...oa lang talaga and i really think may some sort of discrimination siya towards us...pero it seems that he came to his senses na...after explaining everything...

i just read the nishikado's blog...nakakaaliw sya kasi he's one of the few guy fans although alam ko marami pa rin naman sa taiwan/hk ang fan ni Van Ness na guys...sana lang magblog sya ulit and mamention na ok na kayo kasi me mga nagcomment na...and helleur, ganun talaga pagme event windang lahat hindi mo na talaga maiisip ang position mo. And true, lugi nga tayo pag me event kasi di tayo matatangkad like the japs or the chinese girls...
pero talagang ganyan me mga tradeoff sa pagpunta sa mga event at least friends na kayo and more importantly nakita nyo si VanNess...

i'm also glad we settled that issue...it'll be bad rep again for us filipinos...he kept repeating pa "filipino fan"...hay naku...let us not be quick to judge kasi...and try understanding the situation first...onga, tuwa pa nga kami sa kanya kasi rare yun guy fan and the fact that he was not afraid to be spotted there and even stood there long enough just to see his idol and support him...

vannesstasy: yup dun na sila nagtatrabaho...kaya nga i'm greatful to them for their hospitality and for touring me around singapore! had the chance to go to sg and saw Vann in person pa~! sana next time we could all be there in the next V events!

actually sumali ako dun sa game before si Vann magcome up on stage...they called for 5 people mukhang yung iba locals, ako lang di nakakaunderstand chinese...nagvolunteer na rin ako and thought - what the hell! wala naman nakakakilala sa kin dito...atsaka baka eto na chance na mameet uli si Vann! ang game lang naman is that the host will provide some drawing of kung fu poses and we must imitate it and hold the position for the longest time...pero anyway after the game we were each asked a question e in chinese...inisa isa kami...pero buti na lang medyo nakaaral ako konti mandarin and i heard something "shi wan" and then he said the name "Vanness" so I immediately thought a ok he was asking us why do we like V? e naconfirm ko pa when the girl before me was asked and she answered :muscles" with gesturing it pa...ok...so it was my turn na buti na lang i had the chance to think and he asked me in English - my answer was - "he's talented, a great performer, God-fearing, an inspiration to all of us"...hehehe! actually the list goes on pero yun nacome up ko...sabi pa nung host "you said it all, so she (the girl after me) won't have anything left to say"...naisip ko lang sana narinig ni Vann! he was already there na...pagkababa na pagkababa namin ng stage...sayang! i should've ran to him and hug him! lol! biglang kunin ako ng security!

Vanness Wu met with a black-hearted stall owner
was sold 150 sticks of satay when he ordered 10 sticks at Singapore Lau Pat Sat

Lately, Vanness Wu and Gabe Lee were in Singapore and fleeced by a satay stall owner. Luckily, another stall owner next door recognised them as celebrities, and helped out.

28 Feb, they were having supper at Lau Pat Sat and ordered 10 sticks of satay set worth NT550 from roadside stall. Unexpectedly, the stall assistant served 150 sticks. After an arguement, the shop assistant gathered 20+ malays around them.
To avoid trouble, Vanness suggested to pay up and leave but Gabe was unhappy at being fleeced and took photos as evidence. Luckily, stall owner next door recognized them and helped to settle the issue. In the end, they took back the satays at a discounted price of NT1590.

Singapore tourism board assisitant manager expressed: "In Singapore, every restaurant or stall will have license, if the public experience similar situations can inform the shop manager or report to the police. It is recommended to record the road name, shop name and photos as evidence and dial 18007362000 between 8am to 9pm to make a complain."

Natatawa lang ako sa issue. Sobrang masaya ako na me mga male fans si vanness, bilib talaga ako kay nishikado, at naintindihan ko rin yung feelings nya kasi super love nya si vann kaya cguro na- sad sha sobra nung nabo- block yung view nya. Ok lang yun, nadala lang sha sa kanyang emosyon kaya intindihin na lng natin. pero pero pero, sana medyo gawa sha ulit entry retracting his statement implying negative filipino values. ambait- bait nga namin dun e. sobrang gusto ko nga magpa- picture sa kanya kasi nga sha lang yung lalaki dun na fan at maya't maya talaga namin sha tinitingnan. sobrang tagal din nya naghintay dun a. patagalan sila ni woaivan, hehehe. ako kasi, paalis- alis e.

actually, hinihintay ko dun sa cineleisure si mommy amie, kasi always present yun sa mga V- events. chikahin ko sana sha kung andun sha.

my gulay, nung nakita ko si vanness walking towards the stage na, sabi ko "kamukha ni vanness". Ngunit sha po ay me escorts kaya sabi ko, si vanness na nga ata... My gulay, di ako magkanda- mayaw sa paghahanda sa camera, ganun pala yun. dumaan sha sa harap ko (harap kasi ako ng stairs ng stage, mga 4steps yung stairs). Anak ng... ayun, tumigil muna ako para tingnan sha para di naman ako malugi. then, few minutes later, nagpi- picture na ko.

Pictures do not justify his looks in person. sobrang gwapo nya, fave. ko ang ilong at ang cute ng pouty lips na unintentional nyang nagagawa. Very natural kung magpa- interview at mag- perform, walang ka- effort- effort. ang cool nya. he's the coolest person i knew (so far)..

waaah, can't help falling in love with him at sa f4. sila pa rin sa puso ko!!!!

It’s easy to think of Sammo Hung as the gongfu action star. But as a rapper!?

Indeed, that’s exactly what Vanness Wu managed to get Sammo Hung to do on the set of their latest film together, Kung Fu Chefs- though it did take some studious convincing on his part before Sammo said yes.

In town to promote the movie that he also produced the music for, Vanness Wu spoke excitedly about his successful attempt at getting “Da Gor” (as Sammo is affectionately known) to lend his vocals to one of the songs in the film.

“Terry, my fellow music producer, and I thought ‘Hey wouldn’t it be cool if we got Sammo on a track?’ But when we asked Sammo, he said ‘No, you don’t want me to sing on a song. I’m not a very good singer.’ So we discussed it and in the end, we decided that no matter what, we just had to get him to do the track,” said Vanness.

“So on the last day that Terry (who incidentally hails from Singapore) visited the set in Guangzhou, he brought all his recording equipment and we ambushed Sammo while he was resting between takes.” But after much pleading, Sammo gamely took up the mic and the rest is history. “He (Sammo) heard the finished product, and I think he was really quite happy with it.”

In fact, Vanness Wu has nothing but praise for his co-star. “It was just great working with him. His skill in martial arts, his character as a person- he’s just charming,” he said. “And to watch him fight, to watch him work, was really a great inspiration.”

And rightly so- since it appears that the former F4 member has been working hard at carving out a name for himself as a young, up-and-coming action star. Since the members of the popular boy band began pursuing their solo careers, his big-screen forays have been mostly action flicks such as Star Runner and Dragon Squad.

“I’ve always loved action movies since I was young. I guess because of my background in dancing, I’m more flexible and more limber so most of the roles I get are in action movies,” he said. “But I’d love to change my characters as well so I’m just looking out for the right role to play.”

His role in Kung Fu Chefs also marks somewhat of a change for him- this being his first action comedy. But it seems he is just as comfortable in comedy as he is doing action.

He said: “What’s really great in this movie is how the director just gave me the freedom to do what I wanted, basically to have fun, and I think that’s what made it much easier for me as well.”

But what he found more challenging on the set of Kung Fu Chefs was filming the many cooking scenes. “I like to eat, but I don’t really cook that well,” he said. “In cooking, the hand movements have to be a certain way. And plus if you’re not familiar with the knives, then it’s very easy to get hurt. So cooking is probably a little bit harder for me right now.”

Aside from acting, the versatile star has recently embarked on a new venture- designing his own jewellery line, called 3V07 (which actually reads “LOVE” backwards). In fact, he was also wearing some of the items he created, including a ring adorned with a star and a lightning bolt on it and another meant to be worn on two fingers that’s shaped like a chastity belt.

“I love to draw, and I love to design, so this is actually something that I’ve always wanted to do.” In a surprisingly frank and candid manner, he added: “Now I’m at a different point in my life where I see truth is, I see where I’m at, and I’m able to identify with who I am, and what’s important to me- God, family, friends, fans.”

And certainly that same kind of clarity, coupled with determination, will definitely serve him well. After all, that’s probably the same spirit that convinced Sammo “Da Gor” Hung to take up the microphone in the first place.

Sobrang masaya ako na me mga male fans si vanness, bilib talaga ako kay nishikado, at naintindihan ko rin yung feelings nya kasi super love nya si vann kaya cguro na- sad sha sobra nung nabo- block yung view nya. Pictures do not justify his looks in person. sobrang gwapo nya, fave. ko ang ilong at ang cute ng pouty lips na unintentional nyang nagagawa. Very natural kung magpa- interview at mag- perform, walang ka- effort- effort. ang cool nya. he's the coolest person i knew (so far)..

have you seen the razor tv video sorry dati ko pa na-DL pero now ko lang napanood tingnan niyo mabuti yung simula...yung coverage nila sa cineleisure...nakita ko kami ni senorita...kita niyo andun kami sa front row ng stage...sa gilid...at naprove ko na hindi tayo yung humarang kay nishikado...i can see the three fingers standing up while holding the cam (ang weird di ba? parang machi hand gesture! hehehe!) di ko makita yung mukha e...pero definitely it doesn't belong to me or senorita...and i already told him...hopefully iretract na niya talaga...he said he will when he finds the time...sabi pa nga niya - "erm actually i am confused of who blocked my view already, but i'm just sure it's filipino yeah.. i'll write an apology to filipino fans on my blog entry on some other when i have the time, but just that the person who blocked my view, i dislike it alot"...sa totoo lang we didn't notice any Filipinos near us shempre di ba mahahalata mo rin agad...kaya as far as i know we're the only Filipinos there...rebuttal pa nung guy:

Does abstinence in real life translate to greater restrictions in reel life? Taiwanese artiste Van Ness Wu, member of Taiwanese pop boy band F4, who has a one-year abstinence plan in place to honour God, distinguishes his work and private life clearly.

In new movie "Kung Fu Chef", his relationship with Kago Ai remained pure and innocent; he said the lack of kissing scenes has nothing to do with abstinence. In fact, he does not resist intimate scenes.

"It's acting and not real." He added that he has not set any restrictions for his onscreen performances, but will select scripts very carefully.
"I think what is most important is the script; the story, direction of the movie and director's vision. I will not easily take on something like 'Lust, Caution'. But if the director is Ang Lee, then it's ok. I'll do it," he laughed.

From his first film "Star Runner" to "Dragon Squad", "Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon" and most recently "Kung Fu Chef", Wu was unable to detach his onscreen persona with martial arts. However, this was not specially arranged for.

"I do not have a particular direction that I would like to pursue. Any characters that are challenging will interest me."

"Kung Fu Chef" combines martial art and culinary skills; despite their stark differences, Wu see them as a commonality.

"Kung fu is a form of exercise. It trains up one's self-discipline and lets you understand your ability. Cooking is also a form of kung fu. Every dish needs skills; the simpler the dish, the harder it is to create. Knife skills are also part of it," he said.

With an interest in martial arts and habit in frequenting the gym with his friend Jimmy Hong, Wu insisted on engaging in the actions by himself in the movie.
"I did insist on doing some fight scenes by myself; but when I need a stuntman to replace me, I will let the stuntman do it. When we make action films, injuries such as strains and bruises are inevitable. So we have to remember to stretch and warm up," Wu said.

With five movies and seven movies on his portfolio and experiences, come higher expectations. "It should not be hard to breakthrough. There are self-expectations; but what is breakthrough, I don't know. I don't know how to work towards breakthrough. I only know how to do my best in the things I do. I don't think I need to be better than the previous time. It's a learning process, not a competition."

Wu is currently boss of movie production company Smash & Grabs Productions, which he set up with Hong, son of action actor Sammo Hong, where they produce, direct, invest in films and screenplay.

"We have started work in name of the company. Jimmy's script is temporarily named 'Gulliver's Travel'. That is his script so he will be directing," he said. However, Wu refused to reveal or predict when the film will begin shooting or screening. He said, "You'd have to ask him."

F4 are "friends at work"

Since Jerry Yan, Vic Zhou, Ken Chu and Wu, the quartets of F4, spend most of their time away from each other, developing their individual careers, the areas and density of comparisons among themselves increased; the relationship between each member also naturally becomes a focal point.

Early this year, Chu commented on an interview that the quartets are merely colleagues and not friends. Wu, on the other hand, told us: "Everyone has their own opinion. What do I think? I think we are friends We are friends at work. In private, our personalities are very different, and we are each busy over our own careers."

He was first very certain they are friends but switch quickly to say they are "friends at work". You will have to judge what that means

Tokyo concert last October was the last time that F4 appeared as a group; when asked if the four of them will be working together again, Wu replied without hesitating, "If we are all available, of course we will. (What about in the near future?) We'll wait and see. (So there are no plans yet?) Hmm," he smiled.

Wu also revealed that he will be releasing his third album in the second half of the year. Besides that, he also has a movie and a drama in the pipeline.

Van Ness, the voice Heart-throb ditches F4 to pursue his first love ¡ª manga

HIS long, floppy rebonded hair sparked a trend among Asian guys who couldn¡¯t carry off the look. Best known for being one-quarter of once phenomenally popular Taiwanese boyband F4 (which has since been renamed JVKV), Van Ness Wu ¡ª he¡¯s changed his name from Vanness to Van Ness, the road in his hometown of Los Angeles he was named after ¡ª has long since shed his flowerpower Meteor Garden image in favour of an edgier style.
The 31-year-old, who has dabbled in diverse ventures including music, film and, most recently, jewellery design, stars in LaMB, Animax Asia¡¯s first original animation production. Or at least his voice does. LaMB explores the futuristic world of a harsh desert planet where the inhabitants have perfected ¡°lamination¡±, a system by which criminals are imprisoned in laminated suits to ensure that they remain productive members of society in a system of virtual slavery. ¡°I¡¯m very excited about this project,¡± said Wu over the phone from Taipei. ¡°I¡¯ve been a very big animation buff since I was a kid ... I love the way they¡¯re able to create a different world with so much imagination.¡±
Also starring the voices of Josie Ho and Tanaka Chie, the ambitious project includes music videos, web manga, mobile graphic novels and mobisodes, as well as online and mobile games. In addition, it features songs from The Click Five and Simple Plan, as well as costumes designed by Vivienne Tam. Wu, who counts Ninja Scroll, Appleseed, Akira, Samurai Champloo, Naruto and Finding Nemo among his favourite animations, voices protagonist Dr Jack Griswold, a visiting scientist who debates the ethical implications of lamination and falls in love with a woman serving her sentence in the laminated suit. ¡°I have a lot of inner demons I¡¯m trying to resolve on my own, and I¡¯m trying to get through life living in the past and wondering what the future¡¯s going to hold; trying to find a purpose,¡± he said of his character. ¡°It was really difficult, but it was fun to try to connect with those emotions. It¡¯s too bad I wasn¡¯t able to do it in front of the camera.¡± In fact, the Kung Fu Chefs star may have found his new calling. ¡°I¡¯d definitely love to try new characters and different types of voiceovers. I love doing crazy voices,¡± he said. ¡°And funny voices and high voices and low voices and monster voices.¡±

Member Race Wong of 2R is preparing to release her solo album. In order to match with the promotion of the album, she invited good friend. Vanness Wu to be the male lead of a short musical drama called <Don't Seperate Don't See> (Chinese saying: If we don't see each other, then we don't seperate. Except the original is 'But Geen But San' but Race switched the order of the Geen and San --> But San But Geen). The director of the drama was actually another one of her rumoured boyfriends. She pointed out that both the director and Vanness did not get paid, so she will pay for their meal and volunteered to help them in the future when they needed the film something. Race also started to compliment that not only Vanness specially came to Hong Kong to help, he also sacrificed his body for them to film him shirtless and working out at the same time. Then she also complimented that the director made the scene look very professional.

In the short clip, Vanness and Race play a couple. When asked if there were any intimate scenes, Vanness said they probably isn't. Race said, "This is the first time that the 3 of us are self-directing and acting at the same time, so there is a possibility that scenes need to be added or cut," Both males joked that if an intimate scene was necessary, they would demonstrate for Race before the actual filming.

MANILA, Philippines - Ten months in the making, with the efforts of stars in Asia and North America, a 50-strong production team, as well as on-and off-air creative, marketing and promotional efforts of a regional TV network, comes LaMB, the first original multiplatform multimedia animation project undertaken by Animax Asia.

A universe built by a range of TV, on-line and mobile content rolled out since last year, LaMB will culminate today in the debut of the original, LaMB high definition (HD) animation TV feature based on a truly compelling story. LaMB premieres tonight at 7 across Asia and on March 31, before the special on April 7.

Based on the script submitted by Filipino viewer Carmelo Juinio, winner of the Animax Awards 2007 regional script competition, LaMB was developed as Animax Asia’s first original animation production. Set in the year A.D. 2472, LaMB unfolds in Cerra, a barren desert planet 25 light-years away from Earth where humans are seeking redemption for their wastage that has destroyed their own world. In Cerra, not even the creativity and labor of prisoners are left untapped as criminals are “Laminated” in special suits as virtual slaves called “LaMBs” to remain productive, but no free members of society. Jack Griswold, a visiting eco-scientist is about to embark on a journey to change the fate of a “LaMB,” Eve, his life, and the future of Cerra.

“Carmelo’s story was so compelling that we would not bear to let it go to waste, and Animax is pleased to have turned his dream into reality with LaMB. With it, we are proud to have made Animax’s first-ever original animation production,” said Gregory Ho, VP and GM of Animax Asia.

Vanness Wu especially came back to Taiwan to film MV for his Japanese EP which will be released in May. He also invited his good friend Jimmy to be the director. There were Japanese fans at the filming location, proving that Vanness is rather popular in Japan. Vanness has officially joined Seed Music and will release new album later half of the year.

Vanness has just finish recording for the Japan EP in Japan and rushed back to Taiwan to film MV, then 30th he has to fly to China to start on filming of new movie. In the MV, Vann will be cupid and brings together 3couples, fighting against a little devil who breaks the relationship of lovers.

MV filming location is specially chosen to be at Danshui Little White House, the cloudy weather and breeze gives more feel to the mv filming. And there was a group of fans quietly and excitedly looking at Vanness, they are Japan fans who specially flew over.

Seed music specially prepared international superstar treatment for Vanness, they prepared a caravan which has a bed, bathroom, kitchen and filled with Vanness¡¯s favourite snacks and fruits. In addition, fellow artistes from Seed music Wu Ke Qun, Guang Liang, Xu Ru Yun, Landy etc send fruit baskets.

Besides these, they prepared a pretty lady to massage for Vanness. But Vanness was shy, expressed that he is not used being massaged in front of so many people.

As for the most important reason for signing with Seed Music, he said his music beliefs are similar to the boss of Seed Music ¨C Boss Tian. He was moved by Tian¡¯s passion towards music, Tian respects him and gives him large music space, willing to give him freedom in creativity and thinking.

Vanness joins new record company Seed Music and replied to Ken¡¯s saying that F4 are not friends. Vann emphasized that that he has interaction with Vic and Jerry privately and lesser contact with Ken.

Yesterday, Vanness was in DanShui filming ¡°Only¡± MV for his Japan EP which will be released in May. He said he looks for a record company that believes in me, he is disappointed in his previous record company for not fulfilling what they had promised.
It is rumoured that his contact with Seed music was for 2 years ¨C 20 songs and worth NT50 million. Seed music was unwilling to reveal the figures, merely expressed he is very expensive, but worth it.

Deng Zhe Ni Hui Lai - a horror-love-comedy movie will start filming soon.
Lead cast are Li Xiao Lu and VanNess Wu.

Li Xiao Lu will be a female ghost.

The story background happens in Singapore Chinatown many strange things have said to happen because of many races living together. A youngster named Liang Guang (acted by Vanness Wu) upon his girlfriend's support went for an interview at a medicine oil factory - Guang Chang Tang. Unexpectedly, when he arrived, everyone in the factory were shocked. Coz he resembles their 3rd boss Cui Zheng Guang who has been missing for years.
The supervisor rejected Liang Guang's job application. Just
when the dejected Liang Guang was leaving the factory, he saved their 2nd boss and was injured as a result. He is then arranged to stay and recuperate. That night, Liang Guang incidentally found out a secret at the attic.

According to source, filming will begin in Guang Dong. After which will shift to Singapore, Malaysia etc, and will screen within this year.

Van Ness plays scientist

Taiwanese American singer-actor Van Ness Wu is best known as one of the four members of boy band F4. Now called JVKV, they gained fame from the 2001 Taiwanese TV drama Meteor Garden.

But did you know Los Angeles-born Wu is also a big fan of anime? The 31 year old took on the role of scientist Jack Griswold in Animax's first original animation production, LaMB.

He spoke to my paper in an e-main interview about his love of anime.

What do you like about anime or cartoons?
In the worlds (that anime characters) live in, there are no rules. Anything is possible. And cartoons almost always have great stories that can teach you good values.

Do you have other geeky interests besides anime?
I love make-believe. I love Halloween, for example, when you can dress up for fun. One year, I dressed up as Akuma from Street Fighter (a popular video game).

How did u react when approached to voice role of Jack in LaMB?
I was very grateful for the opportunity to be a part of an animation. I would love to do more in the future, perhaps even playing a character with different accents.

What are the rest of JVKV up to?
Everyone is still busy with their solo careers, but we all text back and forth, here and there. Don't worry, we will return!

Following Fahrenheit, DA Mouth, and other popular Taiwanese artists, Vanness Wu of F4 (of drama Meteor Garden fame) will be making his solo Japanese debut! After ending his contract with Sony BMG earlier this year, Vanness signed on with PonyCanyon in preparation for his Japanese debut. His debut single, Only, will be released under the VANNESS on 2009.5.20. in CD+DVD and CD-only formats. The title track of the single is written by popular songwriter Daisuke "DAIS" Miyachi and is described as a fresh pop tune. The CD-only includes one extra song and its instrumental.

When Liang Guang is working at the factory, he was saved by a mysterious lady Xiao Fu Rong, and she said he is the 3rd boss whom she has been waiting for 10 years. To uncover the secret, he begins to take the role of 3rd boss and leads to a 3 sided love relation with the female ghost and his girlfriend. The closer he gets to the truth, the more dangerous it gets...

It is Vanness's 3rd collaboration with the director, the reason why he accepted the movie was because of the chance to act in 2 different characters in the movie. He feels that it is very challenging.

The extent of horror is not due to sound effects, but lies in the story and images. The ending of the ovie is more terrifying, Vanness will have a breakthrough in his performance.

In the recent years, Vanness has been acting in a series of action movies. This time is his 1st challenge in a role with much inner acting. He revealed the script is wriiten for him because the director discovered the different sides of him.

About his 1st collaboration with actress Li Xiao Lu, he said because both of them will talk about music and get along well.
