Ken will have "I•Ken 1st Concert Film 放映會" after Tourism Bureau's fan meeting.

It is a function between him and his own fans.

We are still collecting the information of this event such as time, place, how to join it, etc, etc.

As we know, ZaiZai and Vanness also have their own fan club members' function after the Bureau's event. They open to all of their official fan club members, not just for those can join Tourism Bureau's event. No restriction to nationarity as well. A draw was processed since too many members wanted to join the function.

If Ken's gathering is running under similar merchanisum, all [I-KEN] members will have chance to see him in the "I•Ken 1st Concert Film 放映會".

Vic and Barbie are in sweet relationship. What is " most hated" by Barbie of Vic, is that he has to be in his own home to go to stool. But right now Vic can do this in Barbie's home, which means the two have treated each other as family.

Vanness will have his new album, so Vic accompanied him to Kang Xi Coming where Dee and KangYong are the hosts. Dee said, after she became more familiar with Vic, she found out Vic would watch Andy Lau (Vic is Andy's fan)'s concert DVD, yelling "Come on everybody!" and singing Andy's song "Not a big deal for a man to cry".

Dee said Vic would watch Andy's concert DVD or read Fans' letter even when he goes to bathroom, but the point is that he has to squat. Vanness was curious how Vic could do that and said "well done" after Vic "showed" him. KangYong said "we shouldn't have talked about these about F4."

Dee said that the media always thinks Barbie is the one who's eager for the marriage, and Vic should say something good for Barbie. Vic said his recent slim-down has nothing to do with Barbie, it is because that he had so much pressure to learn Japanese songs in Japanese. Actually Ken and Vic went to the gym once with Vanness once. Vanness would run for a long time listening to music, but they two couldn't run more than 15 minutes and started hating to work out. "But I could run for half an hour now, with the encourage from Barbie", Vic said.

When being asked "if Barbie and Angie Chai fell into water, which one would you go to save first?" Vic said "Barbie".......

The all-famous Southeast Asian idol group F4 quickly visited Japan last month and guested in Fuji TV's high-rating variety show "SMAP x SMAP" In the show, F4 joined SMAP members in a spoof version of the Japanese manga "Meteor Garden" where Kimura, sporting a wig as a college dean was already funny enough . The "young rapid mouth" Shingo Katori in a braided hair acted the female lead Shan Cai that made the stage even more hilarious. The two idol groups also played a game "meatball trick" where a fencing sword was used to string down the giant meatball thrown in the air by his teammate. Whoever reached 5 meatballs stringed in the sword was the winner, but the one who misses got punished by alternately eating the spicy meatballs in the table. Eventhough Zaizai tragically swallowed the spicy balls, in the end, f4 won with 5 meatballs stringed in their fencing sword against SMAP's only 2. Finally, being spicy has its price.

Admit it. At one point or another, you spotted a celebrity you really, really admired and you mustered all the courage you had to ask him or her to pose for a photo with you.
We all have fan photos—some we love to flaunt on Friendster and others we would rather keep locked away in our drawers or buried in a shoe box, under a pile of old letters.

This week, 2bU! asked fans to do another brave thing—perhaps braver than asking your idol mid-bite if you can stick your phone's camera in her face—to dig up their favorite fan moments and allow us to show these to the whole country. And because we enjoy being embarrassed, too, we joined in on the fun.

This is only the first batch of photos, we still have a ton to share.

The photo was taken four years ago when I shot Mandy Moore for the cover of Seventeen magazine. I did my first Hollywood celebrity photo shoot while my hands were shaking (11 out of 15 shots were blurred due to camera shake). The next time I shot her for Cosmopolitan magazine, I was pretty much comfortable with her already, so I was able to make her sign our photo together.

This is my photo with Boy Abunda. I'm such a fan of his intelligence and wit that my Sunday wouldn't be complete without seeing him in "The Buzz!" It's a prerequisite to a fulfilling weekend! Note, pareho pa kami naka-white.

A photo of me with Malaysian model, actress and TV host Belinda Chee. This was taken in Embassy last December when she visited the Philippines. We met in Kuala Lumpur in 1997 when I was doing a feature on President Ramos and she was just 16 years old then. Now, she's all grown-up and has become a huge celebrity in Malaysia! Needless to say, I'm a big fan of hers!

I became a fan of the "Super Inggo" kids after meeting them. They're the cutest, sweetest little boys ever! Here's a shot of me with the adorable Mighty Ken last year.

Not once do I feel insulted whenever people tell me I look like Mr. Bean. I'd use it to my advantage many times to break the ice when talking to people, as a way to introduce myself as a light and fun guy. Because of this, I never have problems deciding what to wear on Halloween, and I'm also a hit at children's parties!

I love F4 so much because they are talented and very good-looking ... muy guapo! They are my inspiration and I don't allow any day to pass without watching their DVDs. Yes, morning, noon and nighttime. I can memorize their songs—even the Mandarin versions. Go, go, go F4! I love you!

Everyone suddenly became a basketball fanatic when the Univesity of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers snatched last year's UAAP championship from the Ateneo Blue Eagles. Well, at least every Thomasian.
Inquirer 2bU! ran a story on these campus heroes and we experienced first-hand during the photo shoot how they were chased and mobbed by adoring fans. My friends and I watched all three championship games in Araneta Center and cheered till we were hoarse. And after a grueling match that ended up as front-page material in most broadsheets, what else was there to say but "Go Uste!"?

We had a shoot with some female vocalists, and we absolutely had to have a photo taken with Aia of Imago. I remembered we got all shy to ask her for a photo op, but what the heck. As you can see, being star-struck has its benefits.

I met Tom Cruise during the "War of the Worlds" premiere at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood. It was a fun experience because I got to see some of the actors and actresses walk the red carpet. I also saw Patrick Dempsey at KTLA studio where Cher Calvin hosts one of the morning shows in LA. Patrick was in the make-up room so we grabbed the opportunity. He was really nice to smile for the camera, considering it was early in the morning, around 7:30 a.m.

My favorite "Oh Tokyo!" host is Ellen Nishiumi. I always had a blast watching her convert prices from yen to peso at lightning speed, visit theme parks and interview random Japanese people. Who can forget that episode where she tried to eat that huge bat sandwich? Last year, I was at a gala dinner thrown by the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo and I spotted her. I was torn between trying to be poised in my Filipiniana outfit and heels and giving in to the urge to be a gushing fan. The gushing fan won. I walked up to Ellen, started pumping her hand and said, "I am such a huge fan!" Ellen looked at me and started blinking rapidly. I was worried I had scared her. But she smiled and posed for photos with us. The next day I saw her again at another event but decided not to bug her anymore. I didn't want her to be scared of her crazy stalker fan.

Way back in college, I practically knew Lourd de Veyra's poems by heart. And while not once did I claim to be Radioactive Sago Project's head groupie, eventually I was promoted as one of the band's e-group moderators. To cut the long fanhood story short, I jumped in glee when I saw my name on the credits of the band's latest album, "T*ngina Nagugutom na ang Mundo Fashionista Ka pa rin." This photo was taken by a common friend during a Saguijo gig. Lourd was wasak-drunk and I looked like some annoying cartoon character villain who, at that time he was strangling me, was sweating by the buckets like some high-school kid who had seen her crush. I used to say: "Hindi na ko fan, colleague na ko," but I guess the stupid smile said it best.

Among all the pictures I have with artists and celebs, I've found only one photo so far that really reminds me of a super kilig (and obviously very memorable) experience. I was super nuts over this cute artist Ben Jelen and his music so I told a friend who brings foreign acts to the Philippines about him, and voila! The kilig part was that, before the concert, my friend told me she had a surprise for me. Then in the middle of his set, Ben asked, "Is there an Angela here tonight?" He couldn't even pronounce my last name. I was dumbstruck, so my friend wildly waved my arm for me. So ayun, he had me stand up and told the crowd that I was "responsible for us being here... she discovered us on the Internet! This next song is dedicated to her." Grabe. I've never been serenaded before, let alone by a hot foreigner. This is a photo of our huge bear hug after the show. He's such a sweetheart.

In 2005, I stumbled upon the blog of "America's Next Top Model" contestant, Elyse Sewell. I loved how she wrote, and looked forward to reading entries and seeing zany photos. Her blog gained a following in Hong Kong (where she worked), and last year some of her blog entries were published: "Beauty and the Biz: The International Adventures of America's Third-to-Next Top Model." I happened to be in HK during one of her book signings, and I joined the queue outside Dymocks bookstore. There was a short Q&A before Elyse read an excerpt from the book. Everyone was given enough time to exchange a few words and have a picture taken with Elyse. She was very sweet and reminded me of a pixie. Next to her my face looked like a pancake!

Was on my way home from a trip to Thailand, and spotted actor/singer/heartbreaker Jared Leto at the airport. I don't usually get star-struck, but as soon as I saw his blue eyes (which I fell in love with in "My So-called Life"), I started hyperventilating and kept saying, "Oh my God, oh my God," as if I were in a trance. My sister convinced me to run after him, so I took the chance and called out his name. He looked a little surprised that someone recognized him, but though he was in a hurry, he accommodated my request for a snap. It felt completely surreal! I wasn't a hundred percent sure it was him until I saw an online article about him where he wore the same shirt. He apparently shot a few scenes of "Alexander" (with Angelina Jolie and Colin Farrell) in Thailand and was on his way home when I ambushed him.

My "romance" with Kwon Sang Woo began when he starred as Cholo in "Stairway to Heaven" and then as Jeric in "Sad Love Song." The impact was so great that these Koreanovelas prompted me to buy Korean stuff like spoons, bowls and snacks. Those eyes and his acting really give me those kilig moments! I got very excited when I learned of his trip to Manila. I rushed to The Face Shop to inquire about it. Armed with my video and digital cameras, I went to Glorietta for the KSW Asia Tour. When my number was called in the Shake Hands with KSW raffle, I could not describe how I felt. I was literally shaking! Good thing he did not melt with my staring! If he ever comes back to the Philippines, I'll make sure I'll see him again no matter where he'll be. I love KSW!

I was a big Lea Salonga fan growing up. I had all her records, watched all her shows and became "friends" with her! I remember that she and her brother sang at my third birthday party, and I would visit their house a lot. Everyone was a fan of Lea at that time so that was one of my claims to fame in kindergarten, hehe.

This was taken last year during my vacation. Talagang nagpumilit ako manood ng "ASAP Live." At hinabol ko talaga si Piolo Pascual and Sam Milby para makapagpa-picture.

When I was in fifth grade and my cousin Chrissie was in sixth grade, we were huge fans of New Kids on the Block (NKOTB). I honestly believed I was going to marry Jordan Knight. Our parents and relatives were very tolerant of our NKOTB obsession, buying us magazines and all kinds of merchandise, from watches and T-shirts to bed covers and towels. My watches (I even had a set with interchangeable straps emblazoned with their faces) made me popular with the high-school girls in school; they would stop me during recess so they could look at my wrist. Pretty cool for a grade-school kid. This is a picture of us with our friend Lala, before going to the NKOTB concert in Manila. I cannot believe our moms let us leave the house dressed in those insane matching outfits. And the killer part was those NKOTB shorts weren't even meant to be worn outside—they're boxer shorts! We were blissfully unaware then; I guess we thought we looked cool. And the teenage girls at the concert loved the shorts, too. They kept stopping us to ask where we bought them.–Pam Pastor

"Coldplay Live at Twisted Logic Tour" in Singapore, July 2005. I smile every time I see this picture since this was my favorite part of the show: giant balls bouncing everywhere when the band performed "Yellow." Where are all the creative talents?

FOR the sixth consecutive year, composer M. Nasir and lyricist Loloq (whose real name is Rosli Khamis) earned the highest royalties from their published and performed works.

At the recently concluded the 11th Music Authors’ Copyright Protection (MACP) Awards Nite 2006, they took home Top Composer and Top Lyricist Awards respectively, beating other nominees who were also well known figures. With their wins, one can’t help but to wonder if the music industry is suffering from creative brain drain. When it comes to good radio-friendly and mass-loving songs, can we only count on M. Nasir and Loloq?

Not that we want them to take a back seat and give way to others. For goodness sake, they should NEVER stop churning out good songs.

The industry needs them to set the creative bar high enough so that others can keep up. On the other hand, listeners want to keep getting good songs.
Nevertheless, the scenario inevitably has “creative monopoly” written all over it, especially if you are an outsider looking in. We all know that nobody is at fault here, but we can’t help but to agree that it says a lot about our industry.

Back when the MACP Awards was first held in 1996, M. Nasir was also — surprise, surprise — named Top Composer.

Although the following three years saw Saari Amri getting the recognition in the category, the award went back to M. Nasir for the new millennium. The latter lost the award to Tan Kheng Seong in 2001 before reclaiming it in the following year. Since then, nobody has managed to take it away from the “sifu”.

For the Top Lyricist category, there has only been three other names who have shared the recognition with Loloq in the 11-year history of the award event. They were Juwie (1996, 1998, 1999), Habsah Hassan (1997) and Baiduri (2001).

Whatever it is, the recent event, held at the Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur, has opened our eyes on how malnourished our once-healthy industry now is.

The show this year, themed “Evolusi Muzik Merdeka” in conjunction with the country’s 50th Merdeka celebration, gave a retrospective journey of the industry over the last five decades.

It honoured songs which were popular back then with supplementary Popular Choice Awards which were determined by SMS votes (see sidebar).

A total of 10 popular songs were picked by a panel of judges made up of experienced RTM radio deejays to represent each era (‘60s, ‘70s, ‘80s, ‘90s and current favourite).

Essentially, it was not really a matter of why a song was chosen instead of another (like why Madah Berhelah, sung by Ziana Zain and Teratai Layu Di Tasik Madu by Fauziah Latiff were not included for the ‘90s era).

What’s more important here was to see the wealth of active composers and lyricists we had at that time and how the songs continue to sound so good after all the years.

Now, where have they gone? Why have some of these composers claimed they were so disheartened by the industry that they decided not to write anymore? The answers, dear readers, lie within the industry itself.

Nevertheless, it was exciting to see “live” performances by artistes from those decades at the event performing songs which they had popularised, including Saleem (for Suci Dalam Debu) and David Arumugam of the Alleycats (Sampaikan Salam).

An ensemble of veteran and young artistes also gave fine renditions of popular songs of the yesteryear. They included Jeffridin, A. Halim, Khatijah Ibrahim, Nora, Faizal (of One in A Million fame) and Nita (of Malaysian Idol), Zahid (of Akademi Fantasia) and V.E.

Aired for the first time over RTM2 and hosted by TV personalities Bob Lokman and Suriani Abdul Rahman, the event was a no-fuss and straightforward affair that had all the right ingredients for a good TV show.

Renowned producer/musician Freddie Fernandez received a special Nadi Cipta jury award for his contribution to the industry.

Another jury award, Most Promising Songwriter, went to Ng Chea Hwei, who have penned hit songs for Taiwanese group F4 as well as Hong Kong artistes such as Leon Lai and Jackie Cheung, among others.

At the show, RTM also received a special recognition award for its dedication in unearthing and promoting local talents through its multitude of entertainment TV programmes over the years.

POP GROUP F4 EXPECTED TO DRAW 5,000 JAPANESE, KOREAN FANS TO TAIWAN

Taipei, April 20 (CNA) Local pop group F4, which has been named as representative of Taiwan's tourist industry this year, has attracted nearly 5,000 fans from Japan and Korea hoping to meet their idols April 22 at National Taiwan University's sports center, an official of the Tourism Bureau said Friday.

The fans will create about NT$100 million-worth of sightseeing revenue for Taiwan, according to a bureau estimate.

F4 will perform and interact with their fans, the official said, adding that the bureau has provided a prize of another meeting tour with F4 to attract more tourists.

Quoting statistics compiled by the bureau, the official said Japanese tourists made 1.16 million visits to Taiwan and Koreans made 196,260 visits. The bureau hopes to attract more visitors from these two countries using the attraction of F4 as a draw.

Many artists are used to the applause on stage and so they are scared to be alone but in contrast to me I relish the feeling of being alone. When there is no work I sometimes drink a little wine, I have a 30-year-old whisky, smoke tobacco while watching TV it feels comfortable. I also like arranging my collections of books and CDs, tidying up while reading, listening to music, just a fun afternoon; a day have passed quickly without me noticing it. Even if I don’t go out I don’t arrange for any activity I just stay at home. Depending on my mood I cook a few simple meals, read a few books that I like and listen to some CDs that I haven’t listened to lately and this makes me happy.

PEARL HARBOR — The USS Missouri Memorial Association will partner with the Hawaii International Film Festival's 2007 "Spring Showcase" in presenting the Lessons of War series, this year featuring acclaimed film "Tokyo Trial" in its American debut.

"Tokyo Trial" will show at the Regal Dole Cannery Stadium on April 24 at 3 p.m. and April 25 at 6:15 p.m. Tickets start from $9 per person. Lessons of War is an ongoing film series that focuses on the lessons of war learned through individual experiences from a wide variety of personal, national, ethnic and cultural perspectives.


Directed by Gao Qunshu, "Tokyo Trial" was shot in English and stars international actors Kenneth Tsang, Damian Lau, Ying Da, Ken Zhu and Kelly Lam. The film explores the complexities of the post-war International Military Tribunal for the Far East (IMTFE), also known as the Tokyo Trials, held from 1946 to 1948. The trials provide the backdrop to the simple, universal story of a young, star-crossed love between a Chinese man and a Japanese woman. The symbolism reflects the deep scars left by the war, but offers a glimmer of redemption and forgiveness.


"Although the war may have ended on the decks of the battleship Missouri, the repercussions of the war echoed for years afterwards," said Mike Weidenbach, curator for the USS Missouri Memorial Association, which operates the Battleship Missouri Memorial in Pearl Harbor. "The aftershocks can still be felt today.


"The goal of the series is to open our eyes to our shared humanity. We hope to bring awareness to humanity's common bond that is often forgotten when we wage war against one another."


HIFF is dedicated to the advancement of understanding and cultural exchange among the peoples of Asia, the Pacific and North America through the medium of film. TAIWAN MULLS HIRING PITCHER CHIEN-MING WANG TO PROMOTE TOURISM

TAIPEI, April 19 Asia Pulse - The Tourism Bureau might make an offer for Chien-ming Wang, the Taiwan-born starting pitcher for the New York Yankees, to promote Taiwan tourism.

Tourism Bureau Director-General Janice Lai said Wednesday that the plan is still in the initial stage and that the method of cooperation will be unveiled "when the time is ripe."

Lai noted that the bureau hired popular singer A-mei to promote Taiwan tourism in Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore and Malaysia last year, with good results.

This year, they asked the pop band F4 to serve as the spokesmen for the bureau in Japan and South Korea, attracting around 300 reporters.

F4 will perform April 22 at the stadium of National Taiwan University in a show that is expected to be attended by around 5,000 fans from Japan and South Korea, with a second performance scheduled for October.

Taipei, April 20 (CNA) Local pop group F4, which has been named as representative of Taiwan's tourist industry this year, has attracted nearly 5,000 fans from Japan and Korea hoping to meet their idols April 22 at National Taiwan University's sports center, an official of the Tourism Bureau said Friday.

The fans will create about NT$100 million-worth of sightseeing revenue for Taiwan, according to a bureau estimate.

F4 will perform and interact with their fans, the official said, adding that the bureau has provided a prize of another meeting tour with F4 to attract more tourists.

Quoting statistics compiled by the bureau, the official said Japanese tourists made 1.16 million visits to Taiwan and Koreans made 196,260 visits. The bureau hopes to attract more visitors from these two countries using the attraction of F4 as a draw.

Taipei - Taiwan on Sunday succeeded in its first bid to use its pop stars to lure Japanese and South Korean tourists.

More than 4,000 Japanese and South Korean fans of the F4 - four handsome singers in their 20s - gathered in Taipei for the first meeting between the singers and fans from outside of the country.

Fans, including mostly teenage girls, but also middle-aged women and a few grannies, jumped and shrieked when the four singers showed up at the National Taiwan University Sports Centre.
The singers greeted them in simple Japanese and Korean before taking turns to sing their favourite songs.

The fans will spend several days in Taiwan on 'F4 Fans tours', during which they would meet the singers and visit the locations where the singers shot the TV drama Meteor Garden in 2001, and also taste Taiwan food and fruits.

Taiwan's Tourism Bureau hit upon the idea of using pop stars to lure foreign tourists studying the success that Japan and South Korea have had in this regard.

In the past two months, the bureau has sent F4 to Japan and South Korea to meet fans and to promote Taiwan as a beautiful tourist destination.

The singers are scheduled to hold a second meeting with foreign fans in Taipei in October.
The small country with no good scenery or tourist resorts, has been fighting an uphill battle to boost inbound tourism.

It has been encouraged by the success Japan and South Korea have had in drawing foreign tourists by promoting local film or television stars.

The Taiwan Tourism Bureau spent 60 million Taiwan dollars (about 2 million US dollars) packaging F4 and promoting the locations for Meteor Garden, for which they became famous throughout Southeast Asia.

Nearly 5,000 Japanese and South Korean fans in total have arrived in Taipei on the fan tour to meet F4 and undertake sightseeing trips around Taiwan that was expected to generate an estimated revenue of about 100 million Taiwan dollars (3 million US dollars).

Zhu Xiao Tian's management admitted that Zhu Xiao Tian is currently training martial arts for his role and the competition would be healthy in this collaboration with Nicholas Tse.
