After boy band Little Tigers¡¨ dismissed in 1991, various types of boy bands emerged in the oriental region. Nevertheless, they were seldom able to make a furor throughout China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Asia at the same time. Not until the rises of F4 had boy bands become the focus of entertainment world again. There are many differences in between the Little Tigers and F4 on their success. The most important difference is F4's popularity was propagated by idol drama. However, they still have a common factor. That is, both bands got an aggressive lady back on them. For the Little Tigers, that's Miao Xiu Li, whereas, for F4, that's Chai Zhi Ping.

At the beginning, F4 could only buy cheap clothes

Yan Cheng Xu, it was a coincident that Chai Zhi Ping saw his photo; Zhou Yu Min, who came with a friend for audition; Chu Xiao Tian, a waiter worked in a BBQ restaurant; Wu Jian Hao, who ran into Chai's colleague. These four handsome sunny boys were recruited by Chai Zhi Ping for her Meteor Garden¡¨ TV series in February 2001. Later on, they began having the same name as they had in this drama, F4 (Flower boys). At first during filming, Chai Zhi Ping did not intend to group them into boy band. At that time, all of them were not wealthy.Chai Zhi Ping said, I remembered the first time I brought them to shop clothes. We did not have enough budgets so we can only buy cheap clothes. I urge them to do their best. If they become famous, they may have a chance to make records or even have world tour concerts.

Mainland China and Taiwan, both regions were obsessed with F4
The success of Meteor Garden rewards them with rocket flame. Both Chai Zhi Ping and F4 were so excited. Meteor Garden broadcast in 2001, when internet was well developed. Fans from Mainland China downloaded the drama through various means. They witnessed F4's success with the Taiwanese at the same time. During those years, many fans who like F4 said, other than interested in their handsome appearance, more importantly, this drama fulfill their dreams and fantasy.

Meteor Garden got Part II

Chai Zhi Ping realized the powerful influence of drama on boy bands. She decided to invest in Meteor Garden II¡¨ in April 2002. Since part I were so popular, Part II could even invited famous filmmaker Hou Xiao Xian to be the producer.
Unfortunately after filming started, they encountered many problems, like changing directors for 3 times, Da S tried to resign from it. All these brought along with the rapid success of F4. They had to run for all kinds of commercial events between China and Taiwan, shooting numerous advertisements. Although F4 did not have long-term training like the Little Tigers, they were born in an open-minded decade. This further proves an old saying, the most important factor for the success of Chinese boy band is a matter of right timing.

After Meteor Garden broadcast, F4 started have conflicts with Chai Zhi Ping's agency company due to disagreements on commission distribution. Their conflicts broaden as number of fans increased and got worst at the end of filming Meteor Garden II. Appeared mature yet innocent Yan Cheng Xu complained Chai Zhi Ping as the Vampire¡¨ on couple press conferences. Chai also geared her effort on Comic boys¨. Even-though both parties tried their best to liaison and compromise, F4's contract ended up being transferred to Fu Long under Yao Yi Jun on January 2003. This marked the beginning of their individual ventures.

The situation for F4 is better than a dying skinny camel

March 8, 2003, many presses reported that it was the last event F4 showed up together on the Pepsi Stars Charity Concert¨ held at Hong Kong Coliseum. July 2005, F4 were surprisingly found not set apart when they once again appeared together in Japan and announced the opening of their official Japanese Fan Club. Their situation is described as much better than a dying skinny camel¨. March 22nd to 25th , 2006, the four held 4 concerts in Hong Kong which still made a fruitful return. Will F4 be reunited? The key factor rests on their solo development. Currently they all accomplished certainly success individually. Notwithstanding this, they can always come back like many other foreign rock bands tens of years later. As long as they are still in fans' hearts, they will always be here in the entertainment world.

Interview with Ken

The interview with Ken started in a classic Vietnamese restaurant by
the Yen Dien Chao at Hou Hai. Sitting on the third floor, you can feel
cheerful sunlight shone through the skylight. Ken opened up his heart,
talking to us right from the bottom of his heart. From the interaction
with Ken, I noticed that I have overlooked F4.

H: Do you think you have a distance with your fans? What distance do
you wish to keep?

K: I think the word distance has two definitions. The first one is the
literal meaning, the real distance. The other one is the gap between
out hearts. These few years, I¡¦m very glad. Some fans want to get
close to me, literally. To me, it¡¦s bothersome. When I¡¦m working and
you try to get near me, you won¡¦t be able to get anything. You see
the real me, but you haven¡¦t gained anything. Another type is that
our souls are very close. I discover that there are more and more of
this type. They don¡¦t have to be in the same place as I am. But when
they see my productions, they¡¦ll understand the message I want to
convey.

H: Can you tell us about your personality? Some people say you look
very good-natured, but actually you¡¦re a little rebellious.

K: My character is I like to simplify complicated things.

H: You have had a few years of stage experience; so do you still get
nervous now?

K: It¡¦s my fifth year now, I still get nervous, but it's also this
nervousness that gives me the "explosive power" I have on stage.

L: So what's in Ken's head most of the time?

KC: Oh, everything. But these days, all I can think about is rest!

L: Vanness once described you as "cool and collected - but a deep
thinker." Did he nail you down to a T?

KC: That's just one side of me. But that's probably how he sees me.

L: You've gone through hard times and taken on odd jobs as a gardener,
waiter, and even worked in a pet shop. What life lessons have you
learnt?

KC: From young, I didn't have everything. For me, to set your sights
too high is only setting yourself up for disappointment. It's hard to
always remain at the top. I only strive to be happy and contented in hard
work. Make an honest living.

L: Sound like you're a very contented guy!

KC: Well, I can't complain... my career has been going pretty well!

L: What touches you most about your work?

KC: People who take me seriously and follow me around everywhere just
to show their support. To me, it really means I'm appreciated for my
efforts. It makes me contented to think I made a difference in their
lives.

hello sis.......meron din ako observation....as usual ken is full of surprises!!!...napansin ko lang....parang sumobra ang pagiging rugged at under dress ng ken....PERO KAHIT GANUN....GWAPOOOH PA RIN CYA 4 ME!!!...unlike d last tym he went 2 jpan medyo pormado pa cya....AGREE!...di cya naka-converse sis..parang yung luma pa yta nyang rubber shoes suot nya...luma pati sweat shirt, pants...at di naka-LV bag...naka-backpack..which i think matagal na nya di ginagamit...parang d last airport pic na nakita kong naka backpack...early f4 days pa....4 me lang ha...parang sinadya ni ken 2 be under dress...2 think na sa jpan pa ang punta nya..which is known 4 it's fashionable clothes....last tym nka pink formal polo shirt pa cya at dark pants........at chubby nga cya ngayon......4 me lang ha, parang ken is in .... a "mourning look"....d ba 4 mos. ago lang nawala father nya...which di nya pa rin cguro naramdaman ang grief kc nga busy cya sa work at malayo......kc i also observed that his aura is a bit....:( lonely, his smile is not as sweet...parang half-smile lang....and his unshaven pa....haaayyy sna di tama ang observation ko....at sna naman...may maka alala mag extend ng condolence sa kanya sa jpan...at di lang cya basta putaktihin ng intriga and all.....he is still as human as we are......masakit yung nangyari sa father nya....dhil bcoz of work pressure....he chose not to see his father go......cguro lately lang nag sink in ky ken...knowing how carefree n happy go lucky ken is.....sna naman di totoo...kc parang walang gana c ken......mas pormado pa assistant nya wd matching video pa.....parang basta2 na lang kumuha ng lumang damit at yun na.....jpan, hir i am na!!!i think ken is really not feeling ok haaayyy.....no matter what....ken is handsome coz he is.....real!!!

Just received the news, Ken arrive the venue early this morning.He went to a convenience store "Daily Yamazaki" to buy snack.Also, he "twist' his arms and nobbed while watching the flower bouquets.There are 8 bouquents till now, one from KCIFC Japan, one from Xiao Tian Garden and others seems from private.The reception starts at 5pm but there are already over 100 fans over there.¦The setting was just begun we can't see any banner yet.However, there are balloons with red, white and blue colour already.3_!Some fans made a large flag with is about one person high and hang over the door.And some fans made A3 size poster with lots of Ken's pic and his name on it.There are also a fans with a hugh decoration over her bag with Ken's pictures.¦¶§µ¤ÑKen Chu - ¤ÑÅ£¡E§µ¤ÑªºÁn­µ Ken's

There is boardcasting for asking fans to line up properly.
They are divided into three districts - yellow, blue and green.
Fans line up from A - Q and each 200 fans gather in one line.` I.NfL
There is a special counter for collecting gift to Ken,
but there is no couter for goods sales.Those balloons are from fans, there is also a 'cat shape' ballon in the middle.
fans wear kimono and some have head banner with Ken's name on it.
And, there are about 5 cook books in each bookshop,

We hope our friends can find some before they back to HK.................

Ken Chu na napaka organized nila duon, walang singitan sa pila, by the
number ang kanilang pila at walang tumayo kahit isa during the fan meeting.
At napakalayo daw ng mga fans na si Ken pa ang tumawag para lumapit
sa kanya. Tingnan nyo girls how disciplined Ken fans are wherever
Ken goes.At eto pa: napaka strict daw dun sa cooking demo with the 2 fans.
Kailangan sumunod sa standards nya. Like, tamang sukat ng mantika,
pagpunas ng kawali, pagbati ng itlog using the chopsticks, nagturo pa pano
tamang slice at paghawak ng kutsilyo, panong maglagay ng niluluto na
hindi matatalsikan ng mantika, etc.. etc...eh kahit ako nandun,

A member of Taiwan's popular group F4 held a press conference and fan meeting to promte his photo essay entitled Ken Chu: Oishii kankei - My falmily and cooking life last November 25 at the Pacifico Yokohama.

The photo essay includes many Taiwan recipes. He said: I hope you will use this book for cooking . On stage he held a cooking school and taught his fans how to make Lotus Root flavored with Ginger. He displayed his real cooking talent and enraptured 2000 of his fans.

More on Fan meeting:

Just received some more news from Fan meeting. After Ken sings Meteor Rain and disappears from stage, the fans sing the beach song together. They sing very good and repeat several times. And when Ken appear again, he join the singing together. At this moment, the camera is giving Ken a close up. My friend see Ken's eyes are red, seems there is tears inside. However, she was not sure about this so she didn't tell me when she called me last time. Now, they have discussed about this again and confirmed that KEN IS MOVED ANS HIS EYES ARE RED.

In the last last goodbye, Ken give a fly kiss, and show his hand from left to right, giving the kiss to everyone. Then, he does something the same as Kimura did in the Japanese drama 'Pride". He put his hand on his heart, make a fist, then release to everyone......... everyone is screaming.......

Two days ago in the evening, Chu Xiao Tian held a Fan meeting at Yokohoma in Japan. Organizer invested 20 millions Japanese yen (close to 7 million NTW) in order to impress 3000 “Shou Nuu” participant ladies. Chu Xiao Tian rendered so many “Love bear hugs” making winning girl fans wailed excitedly.

3000 fans burst the conference hall

This fans meeting was exclusively for F4ever official club members. Each member spent $2000 yen (close to $700 NTW) for admission. The conference hall was mean to hold only 2000 people but 3000 people rushed in. All are lady fans. Several media also surged for it.

Touches and scratches, prim ladies threw away manners

The weather was cold outside the venue but zealous inside the hall. When Chu Xiao Tian walked into the hall across a short distance of 100 meter, Japanese “Shou Nuu” (ladies), who were known to be prim and quiet, totally lost control. They broke through security and reached out to touch and scratch him. After the event, Chu Xiao Tian said, “I got scratches all over. I even lost my microphone that was set on me.”

She thought she could not come to meet Chu Xiao Tian. Finally she made it but was surprised to win the grand prize.

Two days ago in the evening, Chu Xiao Tian held a Fan meeting at Yokohoma in Japan. Organizer invested 20 millions Japanese yen (close to 7 million NTW) in order to impress 3000 “Shou Nuu” participant ladies. Chu Xiao Tian rendered so many “Love bear hugs” making winning girl fans wailed excitedly.

3000 fans burst the conference hall

This fans meeting was exclusively for F4ever official club members. Each member spent $2000 yen (close to $700 NTW) for admission. The conference hall was mean to hold only 2000 people but 3000 people rushed in. All are lady fans. Several media also surged for it.

Touches and scratches, prim ladies threw away manners

The weather was cold outside the venue but zealous inside the hall. When Chu Xiao Tian walked into the hall across a short distance of 100 meter, Japanese “Shou Nuu” (ladies), who were known to be prim and quiet, totally lost control. They broke through security and reached out to touch and scratch him. After the event, Chu Xiao Tian said, “I got scratches all over. I even lost my microphone that was set on me.”

He (Ken) shared some photos and cooking techniques from his cookbook with fans. They played games and sang together. One of the fans won a Taiwan-Japan round trip flight ticket. When she came up stage to collect the prize from Chu Xiao Tian, she cried. She wept and said that she had a car accident the day before the fans meeting. She thought she could not come to meet Chu Xiao Tian. Finally she made it but was surprised to win the grand prize.

Chu Xiao Tian kindly gave this girl fan a “Love bear hug” and made her cried with excitement. Other than this girl, Chu Xiao Tian also generously gave so many “Love bear hugs” making every hugged lady blushed and other fans jealously yelled off-stage.
