4th biggest buyer of ‘Asianovelas’

THE Philippines is the fourth biggest buyer of Asianovelas, according to Leng Raymundo, ABS-CBN vice president for program acquisition.

Raymundo, who is also the network’s most-traveled executive, told Inquirer Entertainment that Japan is the top buyer, China the next biggest buyer, and then Taiwan.

Philippine-made telenovelas, like Jericho Rosales’ “Pangako sa ’Yo,” have also been exhibited in trade shows abroad, and Malaysia has, in fact, acquired the local soap.

Raymundo said the popularity of Asianovelas, which have become a staple for the prime-time programming of both ABS-CBN and GMA 7, could be attributed to the similarity in the cultures of these biggest buyers.

“Asians apparently have the same sentiments and sensibilities,” she observed. “There’s also that kilig (thrill over romantic team-ups) factor in the shows that is also a common denominator in choosing what shows to buy.”

The most popular Asianovelas these days are made in Korea, Raymundo added.

An Asianovela with a feisty heroine always scores high with top buyers, Raymundo said.

Other considerations, she said, are romance and comedy values of a show, plus action sequences.

So far, the all-time top rater among the Asianovelas is “Meteor Garden,” which starred the popular Taiwanese boy group F4.

Raymundo stressed the cost-effectiveness of airing foreign acquired shows, saying that buying an Asianovela was less expensive than producing a local show in the magnitude of “Panday,” even if the network has to dub the show in Filipino and create a local theme song for the show.

The network, she said, also spends a sizeable amount in promoting an Asianovela even if the stars are not here physically for media events.

“If their schedules allow it, we always invite the stars to come here,” Raymundo said. In the Philippines, Raymundo bids against rival network GMA 7 for Asianovelas.

She missed out on “Jewel in the Palace,” which is now a ratings ruler on GMA 7, but she did not regret this, she said. “We have different tastes. I rely mostly on my guts when I bid for a show. So far, my guts have not failed me.”

Raymundo also predicted that Latin telenovelas like “Ruby” would be the next big thing in Philippine television, although these might meet with some objection for being bolder and more adult in content.

ABS-CBN’s latest Korean import is “Princess Lulu.”

There is also a travelling company which sells package tour in them, true reason of their popularity in nature and this popularity and fame goes on and on and has become strong as time comes by.

By comparison with the Japanese edition of F4, the Taiwan edition F4 with respect to the height and appearance, F4 from Taiwan is more attractive and is excellent. When the Japanese edition renders their very own versions, fans have been greatly disappointed with the outcome, of the performance, although in some part, audience rating for Japanese edition has dashed on top.

Meteor Garden Taiwan better

As Meteor Garden is produced, 1 collection of 90 minutes only is 650000 Taiwan Dollar or 2350000 Yen. Japan Produce costs 150000 Taiwan dollar or 540000 Yen.
For meteor garden as for the original Japanese cartoon, the leading part is all in Japanese, with the entire feeling and smoothness of the drama, the Japanese edition has won relatively. But it cannot deny that the Taiwan version is the ancestor or founder of true popularity.

The F4 Whirlwind

Meteor Garden is one of the reading works of the female cartoon market. For 4 years of existence and recognition of the taiwan idol play, many Taiwan and Japan readers existed. Sale of cartoon types already has gained a number of 48000000 volumes as sum total. As for the serial, those which in 1995 are filmed in Japan, Yuki Naoto Huziki and Uchida have played the leading part, but it was a common place record, very common and ordinary. After that, animation was converted, in Japan it did not reach the expectations of many viewers, but when they brought it to Taiwan the reaction of the viewers was satisfactory. In 2001, the Idol play was reorganized in Taiwan and was televised in as many as 13 countries and in fact made a wonderful record and that is how it created the "F4 whirlwind."

Getting linked with Ken Chu, Rainie feels like "vomiting"

F4 goes Separate Ways, Hard to Unite again ?

F4's HK concert was really the last unite of them ? Vanness Wu would be holding his solo concert in Japan on the 8th and 9th of July. Subsequently, Ken and Zaizai would be flying there to promote their dramas. Dreams of F4 being together has vanished.

Vanness would be singing at the Tokyo's Hui Yi Zhong Xin on the 8th and 9th of July. Each concert would allow 5000 people and tickets are prices at 8400 Yen. Japan side actually hope that F4 could sing together but Zaizai needed to film, Jerry has gone solo and Ken has a new show coming up. They could only grab Vanness to arrange a solo concert. He would be holding a press conference during the start of May.

While Vanness is going to perform, the other 3 cannot attend because they have work onhand, it is even harder to be the guest.

As to whether they would invite Vivian Hsu , who was once with Vanness to attend. The in-charge expressed, they can only make decisions after seeing what the performance are. F4's manager, Zhi Xiang Li revealed, Vanness is very creative with his upcoming concert. Not only he is discussing with the dance teacher, he is composing new songs as well. There would be lots and lots of wonderful performances.

Last night, the moment news of Vanness's solo concert was announced in the Japan's website, it started discussion between fans. According to what is known, he would be performing the most wanted hip hop tunes in the concert and would be having his own band to play rock, very different from the F4 who would go the smooth and sentimental way. Vanness, who loves hip-hop, even designed his own hip hop necklace with diamonds as the concert merchandise.

Vic Zhou, which Japanese fans wants to see most, having been having training sessions with Patty Hou because of his drama that would start filming the day after. However, he still uses his precious time to date Da S. After they met up for afternoon tea, they were once again filmed going to the movies together in the afternoon to watch Kong Bu Lu She.

F4 goes Separate Ways, Hard to Unite again ?
F4's HK concert was really the last unite of them ? Vanness Wu would be holding his solo concert in Japan on the 8th and 9th of July. Subsequently, Ken and Zaizai would be flying there to promote their dramas. Dreams of F4 being together has vanished.

Vanness would be singing at the Tokyo's Hui Yi Zhong Xin on the 8th and 9th of July. Each concert would allow 5000 people and tickets are prices at 8400 Yen. Japan side actually hope that F4 could sing together but Zaizai needed to film, Jerry has gone solo and Ken has a new show coming up. They could only grab Vanness to arrange a solo concert. He would be holding a press conference during the start of May.

While Vanness is going to perform, the other 3 cannot attend because they have work onhand, it is even harder to be the guest.

As to whether they would invite Vivian Hsu , who was once with Vanness to attend. The in-charge expressed, they can only make decisions after seeing what the performance are. F4's manager, Zhi Xiang Li revealed, Vanness is very creative with his upcoming concert. Not only he is discussing with the dance teacher, he is composing new songs as well. There would be lots and lots of wonderful performances.

Last night, the moment news of Vanness's solo concert was announced in the Japan's website, it started discussion between fans. According to what is known, he would be performing the most wanted hip hop tunes in the concert and would be having his own band to play rock, very different from the F4 who would go the smooth and sentimental way. Vanness, who loves hip-hop, even designed his own hip hop necklace with diamonds as the concert merchandise.

Vic Zhou, which Japanese fans wants to see most, having been having training sessions with Patty Hou because of his drama that would start filming the day after. However, he still uses his precious time to date Da S. After they met up for afternoon tea, they were once again filmed going to the movies together in the afternoon to watch Kong Bu Lu She.

“The correspondence course is received, and it is studying now. Actually, it is interested since childhood.

I think that I want to do the song and the charm expression more. Nothing is thought still concretely.

It is likely to become the one to put forth me of today completely. ”


ーThe recording of CD of F4 is progressing, too？

“One person has two solo tunes, and, besides, there is a tune sung by four people.
The recording ends, and my solo tune has been completed.
Other members' situations are not understood. However, everything is sure not to have ended yet. ”


ーDrama“天空之城～City Of Sky～” Though it is thought that the promotion of this drama starts from a Chinese inland sooner or later.
How many reactions of the person who saw this work do you expect?

“The schedule of promotion has not been made clear yet.
That is, a Chinese examination is severe and repair has already occurred several times.
It does not understand when it can really broadcast.(smile)”

F4 goes Separate Ways, Hard to Unite again ?

F4's HK concert was really the last unite of them ? Vanness Wu would
be holding his solo concert in Japan on the 8th and 9th of July.
Subsequently, Ken and Zaizai would be flying there to promote their
dramas. Dreams of F4 being together has vanished.

Vanness would be singing at the Tokyo's Hui Yi Zhong Xin on the 8th
and 9th of July. Each concert would allow 5000 people and tickets

The concert commenced under the “Wedding March”. Rainie appeared in a little bridal gown, fulfilled her dream of a garden wedding. “Gan Ge Ge” Chu Xiao Tian turned down Stafanie Sun’s invitation to be the guest for her Shanghai concert so as to back up Rainie. The two chorused “Qing Fei De Yi” holding hand-in-hand. Rainie told her fans that this is their “Song of Re-encounter”.

Chu Xiao Tian, who quieted down for a while, appeared with shorten hair and a little moustache. Fans rewarded him with ardent hurray. He said in laughter, “A lot of people are still unwilling to believe that we are only brother and sister.” Chu Xiao Tian further explained that Rainie looks like his sister very much. That is why he dotes on her. Rainie even urged for his hug. In fact they act as lovers in “Meteor Garden”. Last year, they act as brother and sister in “City of Sky”. No doubt they are destined to cling on each other.

F4 is composed of 4 males from Taiwan, they are hot all over Asia. Fresh from their concert success, they accepted a CNN interview a few days ago for CNN’s Talk Asia. They talk about their dreams of infiltrating the American market and the price they have to pay for success.

In the Asian region they talk to esteemed emcee Lorraine Hahn, English was used during the whole course of the interview of F4, the 4 members of F4 are Jerry Yan, VanNess Wu, Ken Chu and ZaiZai, the interview they appear on stage wearing a western suit, for a half hour during the interview they speak with fervour about their past works and interests. Vanness Wu was brought up in America acted as the “spokesman” and Ken who was educated in Singapore is at ease with replying in English and ZaiZai and Jerry responds through an interpreter using Chinese they convey their own views.

Huhuhu thats really sad...but i guess Ken's just being realistic....fame is fleeting and you can't be on top all the time.. i just hope that idea wont be anytime soon... ngayon ko pa lang nadiscover how Ken's making my life brighter! Now i wonder how did i ever lived w/o knowing him and the rest of F4. hehehehe

yeah.. i was never able to watch the interview kagabi at umiiyak na ako nun..waaah! masakit man na isipin na ken will leave showbiz someday... medyo parte na cya ng araw-araw na routine ko. CATCH Taiwanese boyband F4 on CCN’s Talk Asia today at 7.30pm and 11pm and tomorrow at 8.30am and 9pm.

In the 30-minute interview, Jerry Yan, Vic Zhou, Ken Chu and Vanness Wu talk to Lorraine Hahn about the price of fame, taking time off to do solo work, hitting the US market and launching their new album.

On whether they see themselves as colleagues or brothers, Yan says F4 has bonded and become ‘a small family’: “Ken is more like the mother, Vic is like the cute lovable little brother. And Vanness, he’s the serious and hardworking father!”

On F4’s fame, Wu says in Asia, one needs to have a clean image.

“But we’re only human, and we just try to do our best and live a proper and right life,” Wu said.

Zhu also ponders what life may be like after F4, while Wu is eyeing an acting career in America. “But that’s tough as Asians easily get typecast.’’

Hot all over Asia Taiwan’s idol group F4, a few days ago accepted an interview with American Cable Television News CNN English special report (interview was broadcasted 29 April), during the process of the interview American bred VanNess Wu and Singaporean educated Ken Chu used English to reply, as for Jerry Yan and Vic Chou they used an interpreter replied in Chinese.

Hot all over Asia Taiwan Idol Group F4, a few days ago were in Hong Kong to hold a concert also took the chance to accept an interview from “Talk Asia” the four of them developed a very good understanding of each other breaking the rumor that each had their own solo flight.

Since VanNess Wu grew up in the States and his English is fluent, during the course of the interview acted as the spokesperson of the entire group, and sometimes acted as the translator for Jerry Yan. VanNess with confidence talked about some past events: “Our first meet and greet with the fans was cancelled, Bao Long do you remember?” Bao Long: “Our first meet and greet with fans just started and I wasn’t familiar with it yet.”

And Ken Chu followed with a similar revelation that ZaiZai once experienced some heartbreak, the host asked: “You also help others cook food?” Ken: “I normally cook for myself, but when someone is broken hearted, I can go to the kitchen for him.”

When the four of them became popular they experienced many changes, for example how do they manage to avoid the paparazzi, Jerry Yan revealed that he watches DVD at home and has watched so many movies, then Ken Chu followed with a joke saying: “This is why I started learning how to cook and raise pets. I have three cats! VanNess agreed and said: “This is why I do sports.” I think I am the only one who hasn’t been affected by the paparazzi, anyway I like a peaceful place to wait for my family.

At present all of them are busy but are about to release a new drama an album and the four of them will release an album at the end of this year and they will be able to promote it together, obviously they haven’t disbanded and there is no sign of them doing so.

Patawa talaga si Ken when he said that he sometimes cook for the 3 especially if they are heart-broken. Passion ni Ken ang cooking that's why it keeps him sane ang caring for his 3 cats. Talking about his recipe book, Ken Chu immediately opens up. F4 member Ken Chu: "I often cook for myself!" Reporter: "Can you cook for other people?" Ken Chu: "Yes!
