Before filming <SR>, it was while I was at the Berlin Film Festival in February of that year when I started appreciating the charm of Rain. This big kid who just filmed his very first movie seemed to gain more public attention than the famous Korean director Park Chan-wook; he even became a part of the circle of the best actors around. Rain came to Berlin to promote for a few days and left shortly after because of his preparation for the Shanghai concert. After he left on the 2nd day I bumped into Song Hye-kyo; while we chit-chatted we even talked about him.

Half a year later when we met at the movie studio in Berlin, the reserved Asian side of me caused an awkward moment between me and Rain, not knowing how to greet one another, just a simple "Hi".

It wasn't until break time after the shooting of the 1st match scene when I 'launched an attack upon my own initiative'. "Hi, I'm Yu Nan." I never thought that the single-eyelid, boyish-faced person before me would reply so sincerely, "Hi, I'm Rain, I recognize you! Mr. Park (Park Chan-wook) always told me how amazing <Tuya's Wedding> is, where can I see that movie?"

Rain's speaking voice is very cute, very lively, unlike when he sings and it sounds so manly. Before going to Berlin I got one of my friends to download some songs onto my i-Pod. Don't know whether my friend did it intentionally or not, but there were a few songs that were of Rain. So when I was getting my make-up done I hooked my music up to a portable player and played the music aloud. As the play list went on, pretty soon it came to a track with a prelude of "I'm Back, It's Rain...". At this point Rain, who was sitting nearby me getting his make-up done, suddenly turned around and shyly pointed to the portable player and said to me, "That voice is me." And there I was, originally being playful but then started feeling slightly uneasy, I started laughing hard.


*He Acts Like Leslie Cheung*

When I look at Rain act I can then understand what is called 'self-confidence'. His experience in movies are not bountiful but he is rich in on-stage performances, so even when his acting would not turn out too smoothly, he still did it very well. Based on our impressions big stars who are singers can also act rather well, just like how Leslie Cheung and Anita Mui were, isn't that so? (Deb's note: they were big stars in HK particularly in the 80s and 90s)

When rehearsing with Rain, it doesn't matter who's leading who, it just feels like family, no sense of distance. Sometimes before we begin shooting, the lines instructor whom Rain and I 'share' would say to me, "I noticed just now that Rain's a little nervous." As soon as he stands in front of the green screen, his performance is absolutely 1st-class, he uses self-confidence to conceal any anxiety. But this does not hinder his earnestness. In between shooting you will see him sitting in the corner by himself, repeating and memorizing his English lines word-for-word.

For both of us this was our first Hollywood movie, even with so many big-name stars on location like Susan Sarandon, John Goodman and Christina Ricci, there were no assistants. Everyone served themselves during meals, even shooting scenes on the streets required no bodyguards. Sometimes in the afternoons everyone would sit by the river eating pizza. It was just me and Rain who each had a single-staff entourage to handle contractual businesses.


*He Is A Superstar As Well As A Kid*

Rain is really a big kid! He always said how much he thought of Asia, how much he wanted to eat Korean food. I told him that there was a Korean family-style restaurant in Berlin that wasn't too bad. A few days later in the hotel lobby he said to me, "I went to eat at that place you recommended, the kimchi there is not made in its original way, today I found an even better place!"

One time I asked him, "Do you know how to speak Chinese?" What I eventually heard was "Hi everyone, I'm Rain, hope everyone likes me!" (Deb's note: he's speaking in Mandarin at this point) I laughed as these were things that he had to learn for the concert. Suddenly he just looked at me intently, "Do people actually like me in China?" I quickly answered him, "You are HUGE in China!" He smiled with great satisfaction, just like a kid.

I have an 'intimate' understanding of just how huge Rain is. Before going to Berlin, the girls from my company urged me not to forget to ask for his autograph. I had an unconventional idea of bringing along 3 camisoles with me. When I first got to the crew I was anxious, not knowing what Rain would've thought if he saw me with these things. On the 3rd day, I braced myself and knocked on his trailer door, "I've a few 'sisters' who would like your autograph..." "Sure, anything, just give them to me!" I handed over those camisoles, he had a surprised expression on his face, "What do I do with this..."

The superstar that's on my mind doesn't let people around him feel that he's a star; warm, lovable, gifted...the Rain in my eyes is this kind of Superstar.

Brief information on Rain’s 5th music album

This is about "Tae wan" who composed "Touch ya" in Rain’s 4th album and is an excerpt from someone’s blog.

a. Tae wan is one of the treasures in Korea’s black music industry. He is already famous in this industry with his delicate and clean voice and outstanding producing ability. He was involved in massive workload after he became the main producer of J-Tune entertainment, a company which Rain has established, but he seems to be coming back to his original face as Rain’s 5th album recording is almost finished, which I think it is good for him as his older friend.

b. He was asked to write songs for JYP several times, but Rain’s 4th album is the first time that he got to work with them. They were very picky and tiring company. If it wasn’t Rain, I even wanted to knock up everything several times. Maybe because it’s a large company? Tae wan made track and add melodies to it, and we thought this would be enough to be included in the album but was a little bit worried because there were about 50 composers listed as I saw JYP webhard. After editing several times, it was finally accepted and this track received good reactions from people more than I’m coming. As a composer should meet a good singer, his copyright price has slightly gone up, and he is currently working for Rain’s 5th album, which has been progressing as picky as before.
It is not causing that much trouble for me but Tae wan who is the producer of J-Tune.
*He is the composer who made Touch ya from Rain’s 4th album. He seems to work as the main producer of J-Tune, and it looks like he is the one who is producing Rain’s 5th album.

19:50 (Beijing time) Flight KE 853 arrived.

20:22 (Beijing time) Rain came out from the airport. He worn hat, white t-shirt, red pant and white sneaker. When he came out he waved to fans, accepted flowers, there were about 100 fans at the airport, it was crowded!

BEIJING -- Samsung, Korea's handset leader and the Beijing Olympics' sole mobile handset sponsor, will try to tap a nonsports Asian celebrity to help push its products, including mobile TV, into the closely guarded Chinese media marketplace.

Jung Ji-hoon, the actor and Pan-Asian pop idol better know as Rain, will make an appearance Aug. 21 at the Olympic Rendezvous @ Samsung pavilion, Samsung spokespeople said Tuesday.

Whereas other, mostly Western official Olympic sponsors such as Coca-Cola, Visa and Adidas have seen fewer guests to the Olympic Green than hoped for, Samsung claimed visitor No. 500,000 on Sunday, on the Games' ninth day.


Jung won't sing his Olympic song "Anydream" -- named for Samsung's Anycall service here -- but the company is expecting a mob of young fans

What good news to start the day with - Rain was featured at Unang Hirit this morning at their Unang Balita Portion, it was reported as I recalled that &quot;mainit ang pagtanggap sa kanya ng kanyang milyun-milyong fans maski malakas ang ulan.&quot; Sinabi pa na siya si Justin sa Full House at nag-flash ng kanyang photos sa Beijing, and mentioned about his being internationally famous. Guys, if you have time I think that portion will be replayed at Q-11's Balitanghali with Pia Arcangel & Raffy Tima at 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m today, so you can still watch it.

Also at Showbiz Extra at Arirang last Wednesday, Rain is No. 1 at their Male Stars with the Best Bodies on the recent on-line poll it recently conducted.

Just received news from dayu (a fan), they are now standing near the stage which is outside the Samsung exhibition hall (in the Beijing Olympic Park)
Event will start at 14:30, there are about 300-400 people now (many!), and there are many other spectators standing outside. dayu and the gang are standing in the middle section. there are fans from cloudchina holding the banner at the first row.

Today, he attended a Samsung party (at Olympic Park) and met with his beloved Clouds in Beijing. Leaving his long hair and bowl cut behind, he now sports a shorter cropped look. We also noticed that his eyebrows are neatly trimmed or threaded or tattooed or waxed. Well, he did something to it - the vain pot! ;-)

BEIJING (Reuters Life!) - South Korean pop sensation Rain has vowed to keep acting and trying to break into the U.S. market despite his debut Hollywood movie, "Speed Racer", crashing at the box office.

Rain is one of Asia's top-selling musicians and a fan favorite in TV dramas but he has struggled for U.S. fame despite being named as one of Time magazine's 100 most influential people in 2006 and in People magazine's beautiful people list last year.

This summer, Rain, 26, tested the U.S. waters again with a role in the big-budget $150 million Warner Bros. movie "Speed Racer", but the film failed to ignite audiences with its American debut weekend only pulling in about $18 million.

But Rain said this would not put him off. He has already filmed his next movie, "Ninja Assassins," again by the Wachowski brothers, best known for "The Matrix" trilogy.

"Regardless of its ratings, Speed Racer was my first movie and I think it is meaningful that I get to meet the Wachowski brothers who I really admire," Rain told Reuters in an interview at the Beijing Olympics where he was a guest of Games sponsor Samsung.

"Right now I'm only focused on Ninja Assassin which is very important for me and is coming out early next year. I have plans to star in other movies but there is nothing confirmed yet."

Rain, whose real name is Jung Ji-hoon, has starred in TV dramas and movies in South Korea and played to sold-out concerts across Asia, where his boy-next-door image has won him legions of fans across language barriers.

But a series of concerts planned for the United States fizzled out last year because of promotional problems.

Rain, who sings largely in Korean and is working on another album for Asian fans, acknowledged he had yet to gain wide recognition in the United States or Europe, but said he was working on it.

"If I do a lot more activities and I do my best I believe a lot more people will recognize me," said the singer, dressed in tight jeans and white-and-silver pointed shoes.

"I can introduce more Western people to my movies and my songs and this type of interview as well will help me cement my name on the global stage," said Rain as he headed out to greet hundreds of screaming fans.

The Beijing Olympics' opening ceremony dazzled with its scale and the precision of nameless thousands, but to close the Games tomorrow, organisers are banking on the star appeal of famous individuals to electrify audiences.


Lighting up the stage at the Bird's Nest Stadium will be a line-up of top Asian mega-stars including South Korean pop singer Rain, Taiwanese crooner Jay Chou, Chinese-American singer Wang Lee Hom, Hong Kong celebrities Jackie Chan and Andy Lau, as well as Singapore's own Stefanie Sun, according to reports in the Hong Kong press.

Rain, reported Apple Daily, will team up with Hong Kong songbird Kelly Chen and Wang Lee Hom for a performance, while Ming Pao Daily said that Jay Chou is set to sing a pop song with classical Chinese touches.

London, which will host the next Olympics, will ramp up the glamour factor at the stadium with some of its biggest stars on display during an eight-minute music and dance segment to celebrate the handover.

English football icon David Beckham will lead a glittering pack of famous personalities that also includes guitarist Jimmy Page of rock band Led Zeppelin and pop singer Leona Lewis.

Spanish tenor Placido Domingo and Chinese soprano Song Zuying will serenade the 91,000 spectators at the Bird's Nest with a duet.

While at least three dress rehearsals were conducted for the opening ceremony, there have been none for the closing ceremony.

Still, Chinese movie director and chief director of both opening and closing ceremonies Zhang Yimou was reported in the Chinese press as saying that the extinguishing of the Olympic flame would be the climax of the show.

Audiences will also be treated to another highlight before the night is over -the handing over of the Olympic flag to London Mayor Boris Johnson, signalling the moment that the British capital becomes the official host of the 2012 Olympics.

A red double-decker bus, just like the ones that run on London roads, will be featured at the closing ceremony. Also expected are performances by disabled and non-disabled dancers from a contemporary dance company, and a hip hop dance troupe.

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, who was under intense pressure from human rights campaigners to miss the Games' opening ceremony, will attend the closing tomorrow.

He avoided public criticism of China's human rights record during meetings with Chinese President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao yesterday.

'With the whole world watching, the Beijing Olympics have captured the imagination of the entire global community,' the British Prime Minister said.

'The 2008 Beijing Olympics have set a new standard for the Olympic Games which we in London in 2012 will seek to follow.'

The handing over in Beijing will kick off concurrent celebrations back in Britain, including a giant party in London's Mall in front of Buckingham Palace that will include a free concert for more than 40,000 people.

Throughout Britain, a network of big screens will go up showing highlights from the Beijing Olympics as well as the closing ceremony. There will also be individual handover celebrations in towns and cities across the country, London 2012 organisers revealed yesterday.

Born Jeong Ji-hoon, the 26-year-old entertainer has returned to the Asian music scene after pursuing an acting career in the United States. He told Yonhap News that he is producing his new album himself.

For his right hand man, Jo Dong Won's wedding, the World Star sang at the wedding. The wedding was held at the Lotte Hotel in Sogong-dong, Seoul on the 30 August.

The program will last for one hour and will feature live performances and interviews. MBC is currently negotiating with Rain's management agency JTune Entertainment to air the show sometime in October.

Following his performance during the closing ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Rain told Yeonhap News Agency during a phone interview that he is confident about his new album.

Rain, who produced the album himself, said it took a long time for him to prepare and record the album, which is in its final stage of production. The singer added that the special album includes many of the songs he wrote himself and that some of them are in English.

The album will be released all over Asia as well as other countries with a sizeable Asian K-pop market. Rain plans to release a wordwide album early next year following the release of "Ninja Assassin," a Hollywood blockbuster film starring Rain.

Asia Special Album will release on October

Rain went to Thailand for MV shooting during Chuseok holiday and has prepared for its return to stage. Since the MV shooting is completed, that means all theme songs and dance choreography were determined, only left over is "the contestant to enter the stage".

Rain had completed the album cover photo shooting. Recently he is doing some wrap up work for the album, such as selecting cover photos, so on. After these are done then all preparation will be complete. Rain had participated in this album's production, 7 songs produced by himself were recorded, the album had more than 10 songs in total.

good for him and good for us, Biers:). havent we been missing him in the television scene? i have come to watch more than a hundred koreanovelas and i admit to missing him dearly. cuz he's not just a total entertainer but a very good actor as well. mukhang heavy at markado na naman ang role nya dito sa FOUR SEASONS. parang ala ALTK or Ijuksa. i just cant understand why a lot of pinoy Biers didnt like this drama. it was his best dramatic performance so far. perhaps they preferred his role in FH. well, being a versatile actor, he has to portray various roles. and to work with as many different actors in the process. can't wait. i love to see him act in those soaps again.

Rain’s 5th Album Teaser to Be Released

A teaser music video of the hottest K-pop star Rain’s fifth album will be released on Thursday, October 2nd. Rain’s agent said that the teaser video of “Love Story” will be first posted on online music sites like MNet and major portal sites. Now Rain’s fans will be able to get a taste of his new music video shot in some of the trendiest places in southern Seoul.

Actress Ha Ji-won has co-starred in the music video opposite Rain, who will show the sexy, yet dangerous aspect of himself. Rain himself has planned and starred in the video, which is about the dark and sizzling love story between a bad boy and a femme fatale.

The teaser video will be released on Naver, Daum, Cyworld, and MNet.com on October 1st, which will be followed by the second round of teaser release as well as the disclosure of music source and the full version of the music video.

Rain's comeback is nearing. The cover of his 5th Korean Album was released earlier today and so far his official Fan Club the Clouds are hyped up with anticipation.

The album entitled "Rainism" is said to be a mix between Rain's inner emotions including Anger and hidden secrets he has stored inside throughout the years.

Rain will officially return to Korea with a private showcase on October at the MBC Dreamcenter at Ilsan.

As it was said before, we've got 200 extra tickets for World fans.
We're really sorry for not giving enough time to apply for a seat.
But with time-limit & for whom has been waiting for the notice,
We'll get your application as following notice

Before writing your info, You should remember

1. You can apply for one seat per person, from 8am (Korean Time), Oct 8th .

2. The Ticket hasn't got a fixed-numbered seat, which will be given with a blank on the spot.
Of course, A number will be given for counting and entrance-ordering to 200, not a seat mumber.

3. You should be Qualified as Rain's World Fan(except Gurum 6th, Japanese from the Cloud 2nd)

4. You can write your informations as below .

5. You need your own passport to get a ticket on the spot.

6. No cam, No camera, No-recording device is not allowed.
