yup that's the sad part of it. how do we go about that site eh di naman tayo mkabasa ng korean characters? they should have a language option man lang para non-korean members or fans can join and login.

RAIN's name is being mentioned here...........

The 'Korean wave' is getting stronger and stronger in Hollywood now. Whether it's Korean actors from S. Korea or those American-born Korean artists, the audience can see more Korean faces show up in Hollywood box-offices. It is said that some producers do not mind to amend their scripts to invite the Korean actors. And it seems to be easier to enter this movie kingdom nowadays.

Just a few years ago, news like "Actor XXX has met Hollywood personnels, etc" could occupy the headlines. However, some usual filming news is no longer catching the eyeballs. In other words, it's pretty 'normal' for Korean actors to star in Hollywood films.

One of the best examples is Korean mega star, RAIN. With the support from Wachowski brothers, his Hollywood career has a good kick-start by starring in the film <Speed Racer>. The Wachowskis directed the acclaimed Matrix series of films and their names are enough to catch
the attention. Later on, RAIN received another invitation to star in the film <Ninja Assasin> directed by James McTeigue.
Undoubtedly RAIN is lucky enough in his first entrance into Hollywood.

Given a choice, whose face you'd like to borrow and live with it for one day? An interesting polling started by a musical site which titled "Which male singer's face that you'd like to borrow for a day?" and attracted 3437 netizens voted for their favourite between Feb 21 to 27. And the result was:-

No.1 Lee Seung-gi 1362 votes (39.63%)
No.2 RAIN 1158 votes (33.69%)
No.3 Seo Tai-ji 486 votes (14.14%)

Lee Seung-gi is currently starring in KBS2 TV programme <Happy Sunday, 2D1N>. Thus his great exposure won the majority votes from netizens.

Whereas RAIN is well known for his exploration in overseas career with two Hollywood films <Speed Racer> and <Ninja Assasins>. Comments from netizens "Wanna change face with one of the 100 Most Beautiful People" "If I'm using his face, means I must sing and dance and many interviews run after me!"

Top star Rain plans to debut a solo female artist and male group by year's end, making his own debut as a producer. In February, he revealed at a press conference his intention to debut 2 new teams within the year. According to Rain's reps, these artists are a solo female and a male group. Though teens, they're exceptional singers and dancers and the bearers of much expectation. Rain also recently made news for being awarded the "Korean Image Stepping Stone Award" on the 19th for elevating Korea's image.

RAIN asked help from fans

Rain has asked his fans, through J Tune Entertainment’s homepage, to help him find photographs of him that are illegally distributed.

The Korea singer had a world tour in 2007 and before his concert in Thailand, he signed a contract with MAMA, a Thai company, to allow it to use his picture for the packaging of it cup noodles. Under the terms of this contract, the cup noodles with Rain’s picture on it can only be sold within a given period but unfortunately, that term was not followed and is still on sale up to this day. Pictures of the cup noodles can actually be found in the Internet.

Because of this, Rain requested his Korean and overseas fans to help him fight against his pictures being used illegally.

*** A contract is a contract & if this is over you have to re-package your product. But according to some people in Thailand, this Mama Noodles with his image is no longer in the market. ;)

Please give us proper credits if you copy it to the other sites. Thank you!

From March 10 to March 17, website Dcinside of Korean did a public poll with the subject "Who has the hottest body?". It had 29.322 people voted in this poll.

The result as follow:
The first place is Hyun Bin with 7563 votes (25,8%)
The second place is Bae Yong Joon with 7489 votes (25,5%)
The third place is Kwon Sang Woo with 6521 votes (22,2%)
Number four is Bi (Rain) with 4867 votes (16,6%)
So Ji Sub got the fifth place with 1243 votes (4,2%)

Besides, Seven, Cha In Pyo and Eric are all in the top 10.

**************************************************************************************
A lot of K-male stars have nice frame but having a firm 6-pack abs only a handful of them. HyunBin’s body is great but not HOT for me. I like Se7en’s music but not as much as his body. RAIN’s #4? – it never happens in my mind.

Here's one more Hollywood-level actor who will be in <Ninja Assassin>...

http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee79/malaydebster/choucollin_matrix_tn.jpg

Chou Stars In Wachowski Ninja Film

Matrix cast member Collin Chou told SCI FI Wire that he will be one of four leads in a new fantasy ninja film from Matrix creators Larry and Andy Wachowski, who will produce but not direct. Variety has reported that the film will be called Ninja Assassin, a title Chou couldn't confirm.

"I don't think I'm supposed to talk about it, but I am working with the Wachowski brothers next month, and I look forward to working with them again on a major movie," Chou said in an interview at the Wizard World convention in Los Angeles over the weekend. "It will be in Berlin." As for the film's title, Chou said: "I don't know if that's the final name yet." Chou played Seraph in all three of the Wachowskis' Matrix films.

Chou also confirmed a longstanding rumor that he is playing a role that Jet Li turned down. "I have to say that I'm constantly grateful to Jet Li, and I thank him all the time, but that is personal," Chou joked. (Chou co-stars with Li and Jackie Chan in the upcoming fantasy martial-arts film The Forbidden Kingdom.)

Chou said that the Wachowskis' ninja movie starts production in late April or early May. "And this is a part that is built around me," he said. "They have wanted to have me in a larger part, and I was waiting and waiting for a long time for it to happen. I am one of four of the main characters in this movie. It is a great honor to be on board."

Korean pop star Rain, whose real name is Jung Ji-hoon, is also part of the project and one of the four main characters. Rain, who is in the upcoming Speed Racer film, was also in last year's Korean film I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK.

Variety earlier reported that the film will be produced by Matrix producer Joel Silver and most likely will be directed by James McTeigue, who also helmed the Wachowski-produced V for Vendetta.

Lionsgate's Forbidden Kingdom opens April 18. --Mike Szymanski

More Than Just The Money, It's Realizing A Dream

During the time of confirmation for world star Rain's pay rate for his second Hollywood movie <Ninja Assassin>, which stands at about $500,000 US dollars, Rain's side said, "Rather than looking at the compensation, we hope that everyone will be able to see the process of the realization of a bigger dream."

His representative company J.TUNE pointed out that Rain's American agent WMA (WILLIAM MORRIS AGENCY, L.L.C) and England's Rocklock Films Ltd. had signed on Rain's related compensation for his role in <Ninja Assassin> to be at US$500,000, and upon the screening of the movie the profits from the box office will be divided based on the "Running Guarantee" contract.

Rain's $500,000 compensation does not count as much considering he is acting the leading role in a movie that cost hundreds of millions of dollars to produce. Regarding this, Rain's side said, "As of now we are not considering money income, stages of compensation of the contract and so on. We are just approaching this from an attitude of a newbie as a good form of work. Rain is in the middle of the process of realizing a dream."

Although it is only $500,000 in the beginning, trust that it will be a market of $5,000,000 or $50,000,000 US dollars later. Rain hopes that his own march towards Hollywood will broaden the industry for South Korean actors as well.

Rain went abroad to Berlin on March 7th for the filming of <Ninja Assassin>. He will be there for approximately 3 months, concentrating on the movie shoot.

Samsung Unveils Promotional Music Video Starring Rain

http://english.kbs.co.kr/ICSFiles/artimage/2008/03/25/c_ent_nws/080325_ent_2.jpg

Samsung Electronics has unveiled the 2008 Beijing Olympics theme song and the music video that will be used for advertising its Anycall mobile phones. Singer and actor Rain, who is one of the hottest celebrities in Asia, stars in the music video.

Samsung Electronics, one of the official sponsors of the 2008 summer Olympic games, launched the music video starring Rain at a recent event announcing the participants of the Olympic Flame relay. The music video is about working hard and achieving one's dreams. Rain conveys the message by dancing throughout the music video.

Rain took active part in choreographing the dance moves for the music video, which boasts blockbuster-level cinematography. In the video, Rain battles it out with talented B-Boys and shows off his sexy charm to the fullest. Rain's physique in the music video reportedly looks very impressive, as he underwent months of hard training to prepare for the shooting of the film 'Ninja Assassin,' a new Hollywood action movie.

Director Jang Jae-hyuk, who made the music video for 'It's Raining,' the title song of Rain's 3rd studio album, took charge once again. Samsung Anycall's promotional music video starring Rain will be played throughout the Olympic Flame relay as well as the summer Olympic games for a total of 97 days. The video will also be edited into a 15-second commercial clip that will go on air nationwide in China and Hong Kong starting in early April.

Once he finishes shooting 'Ninja Assassin,' Rain will visit China in mid-August to take part in events related to the Summer Olympics.

08 Mar 24 [innolife] Maggie Q: Hopes Rain Will Not Lose Focus In Hollywood

Deb's note: Maggie Q is currently in Seoul together with Andy Lau promoting their new movie "Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon". She and Rain were co-presenters of an award at last year's Asian Film Festival in Hong Kong.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

As one of the seniors stepping very early into Hollywood, Maggie Q proposed the following suggestion to Asian actors, "For those Asian actors wanting to develop in Hollywood, the most important thing is that you do not lose your own focus."

(Skipping)

Maggie Q, who can portray both a moving performance matched with the ability to do acrobatic fighting movements, indicated this, "In order to survive in Hollywood, the most important thing is that you don't lose your focus. Although South Korean actors have left a profound impression on me, I can only remember several names, but I have heard the news of Rain stepping into Hollywood." Maggie Q as a senior gave Rain such an advice to him upon hearing the news that he was

heading to Hollywood through <The Matrix>'s directors the Wachowski Brother's new movie <Speed Racer>.

"The most important thing is not to forget why you're doing this in the first place. However, staying focus in Hollywood is extremely important yet a very difficult thing to do. And given what is assigned to us, Asian actors should be more diligent in making prior preparations. Otherwise, we'd only be actors stuck with roles such as an angry dry-cleaning shop owner."

08 Mar 23 [ShenZhen Business Times] Rain Sings Chinese Olympic Song For The First Time

On March 21, the Samsung Olympic Games theme song "Anydream" that was done in Chinese for the first time by Rain was released in Beijing. The entire song follows his movements, dynamic hip-hop style; and through various forms of expressions, Rain's optimistic self-confidence and spirit of persistent dreaming are portrayed. Moreover there has been a great improvement in Rain's enunciation and pronunciation in parts where he sings in Chinese. Based on introductions, this Olympic Games theme song will be broadcast during the process of the passing of the torch as well as during the sporting events.

The production of this MV highlights the strong element of the Beijing Olympic Games; cultural scenes representing the people of Beijing such as Wangfujing, the Forbidden City and Hutong can be see through the video. Meanwhile, the basketball court and dance-off scenes portraying unceasing Olympic spirits of self-challenge and self-transcending go perfectly well with the song's artistic conception and theme. Also worth mentioning is that the MV's leading lady in the 'hot' dance with Rain is an ordinary, unknown Beijing girl named Song Qian Jing. She has been dancing for about 10 years, and is still currently training at the Beijing Dance Academy. A fresh new look as well as the incompatibly graceful dance postures of Rain are the main attractions in this MV.

Rain & BoA’s voice insurance
April 1, 2008

How much are Rain and BoA’s voices insured?

The value of the two stars’ voices were examined in MBC Every1’s “Magazine One,” which will be aired on April 2 at 6:55 pm.

Insurance in Korea is unlike in Hollywood where each part of a celebrity’s body are separately insured. Voice insurance is given a special provision in the insurance policy and an appropriate tag price.

“When Rain’s performing, his voice is insured for 10 billion won. In the case of BoA, she gets 5 billion won,” a “Magazine One” crew member said.

Meanwhile, Sung Si Kyung’s voice was evaluated to be also worth 5 billion won.

Danny Ahn never thought that Rain would make it big

Life is really unpredictable, isn’t it? Former G.O.D member, Danny Ahn revealed recently on a program that he had never thought that Rain would cut it in the industry and never dreamt that that he would become a global popstar today.

Danny Ahn mention in the program, “Rain was only a trainee at that time while the group I was in, G.O.D was the most popular group then. I often pointed out to Rain that he should learn how to control where he is looking at when facing the cameras. I will always add a sentence saying, “You can’t cut it.” Kim Tae Woo was worst than me, he often says to Rain, “You aren’t star material.”

But after listening to Rain’s second album, “How to Avoid the Sun”, it totally changed Danny Ahn’s perspective of him. He said, “Many reporters often asked for my opinion on Rain back then since I was his senior. I will always say that he is very cool.” He added, “We often keep in contact through the phone but now I don’t because I’m afraid of disturbing him. I keep up to date with his development through the internet just like many of his fans.”

“Not long ago, he sent a group sms to his contacts saying that this was his new mobile number. This already made me very contented.”

Hi, mga sis. I'm a newbie here and just like all Biers, I'm a fanatic.

Anyway, I'm just wondering if Bi is done with his military training. If not, do you have any idea kung kailan?

I just want to be prepared kasi I don't want to go on withdrawal symptoms in case he leaves the entertainment scene for 2 years. that would be unbearable.

Rain in "TIME" Magazine for 3rd Consecutive Year

http://english.kbs.co.kr/ICSFiles/artimage/2008/04/11/c_ent_nws/080411_ent_1.jpg

Actor and singer Rain was asked for an interview with the weekly U.S. journal "TIME," according to J. Tune Entertainment.

Every year, "TIME" magazine presents a select list of "100 of the World's Most Influential People" and currently, Rain has surpassed Britney Spears on the online voting site, "2008 Time 100." The request for an interview comes from the "TIME" video web coverage segment, "10 Questions."

This is the third consecutive year that Rain has been linked to "TIME." The Hallyu star was chosen for the "TIME 100" list in 2006 and walked the red carpet with powerful figures such as U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and movie mogul Jerry Bruckheimer.

In 2007, he was ranked number one on the online voting system set up for the "TIME 100" and introduced to "TIME" readers as "Asia's Prince of Pop." Once again he is ranked first on the online poll this year along with an interview that can be viewed by a global audience.

The "TIME" editor-in-chief will select ten questions from the countless number sent in to the website (http://www.time.com/10questions) by netizens all over the world.

Actor and singing sensation, Rain, recently won the Korean Image Didimdol Award for being at the forefront of Korean pop-culture and introducing it to the world.

The 26-year-old, who’s real name is Jeong Ji-Hoon, attended the ceremony dressed very stylishly, with his long hair tied pinned under a felt hat. Rain received the Korean Image Didimdol Award the ‘CICI Korea 2008’ event that was held on February 19th at the Intercontinental Hotel’s grand ballroom in Samseong-dong, Seoul.

This year marked ‘CICI Korea’s’ 4th awards ceremony and Rain said, ‘I think of my mom every time I win an award. The award I received today means more to me than any international award that I have won. This is a great honor, and I am grateful."

CICI’s chief director Choi Jeong-Hwa stated on behalf of Rain’s award winning saying, “Rain rightfully won the award. He appeared as one of ‘TIME Magazine’s Top 100 Most Influential People’ and entered the heart of America’s pop-culture as the top Asian star, introducing the Korean pop-culture to the world.”

Korean pop idol Rain has snagged his first leading role in a Hollywood film. The singer and actor told a press conference at the Lotte Hotel in Seoul on Wednesday that he has been cast as the hero in the action movie "Ninja Assassin".
The movie is to be produced by Joel Silver, the producer of "V for Vendetta," and the Wachowski Brothers, the directors of "The Matrix."

"It's such a huge opportunity that I feel like I'm dreaming," Rain said. "I'm not only working out to lose weight and training to build the perfect body, I'm also studying English hard."

This won't be Rain's first Hollywood movie. He recently shot a supporting role in the Wachowski Brothers' "Speed Racer", which is scheduled to open in theaters in May.

"You'll see Korean characters appear in some scenes in the movie," Rain said with a grin. "That's because I lobbied and sometimes pressured the producers to feature the Korean language."

Korean pop idol Rain has been tapped to sing the theme song of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

Rain, who is a star across much of Asia, will be the first Korean to sing an Olympic theme song since quartet Koreana sang "Hand in Hand" for the Seoul Olympics in 1988. He was apparently asked to sing the song last year and gladly accepted. Working under a tight schedule as he promotes his new movie "Speed Racer," he is now discussing details of the song with the Chinese Olympic organization

The selection of a Korean star over Chinese singers is surprising, but Rain has an exceptional relationship with China. Since making his international debut there in 2004 he has worked as a spokesperson for companies like Pepsi, Pantec and Puma, enjoying popularity as great as that of any Chinese star.

Performing at the Olympics is expected to further boost Rain's international stature, as should his Hollywood debut in "Speed Racer," which is directed by the Wachowski brothers.

Rain also has plans to appear in another Hollywood movie this year. In sports he has been appointed as a PR ambassador for the 2011 Daegu World Athletics Championships.

08 Apr 11 [Sina] Rain Wants To "Take Revenge" For World-Class Asian Entertainers

http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee79/malaydebster/3cdd45f942893ada03abb8df46a4054b.jpg

When singer-actor Rain accepted an interview with a Japanese media, he said that he wanted to "take revenge" on behalf of world-class stars. In a special-edition interview on April 10th by one of Japan's weekly best-selling distributions, he said, "From the very beginning when I released my album, I had the strong hope that my music would rank up the charts at first place; after which I also had the hope that I would become South Korea's best singer. Later down the line I then thought I'd be an actor, and then extravagantly hoped for an award in Asia. Now it looks like I'm in this world to win awards." (Deb's note: This last statement was confusing to translate from Chinese, so sorry if it doesn't make much sense.)

In response to the question of the essential conditions for Asian actors to step into Hollywood, Rain then said, "Actors playing the role also have to experience restrictions on their outward appearance. In actuality an Asian's single-eye-lid appearance is considered very essential in the eyes of the Westerners. However, outside of the appearance alone, if one does not have his/her own unique charm, it wouldn't work either. By diligently paying attention to these kinds of details, one can eliminate the restriction that Hollywood has on Asian entertainers, thus paving a brand new direction for Asia. Until the day when this restriction is eliminated, I will work hard continuously and become the world's best actor."

“For 4 months, 24 hours a day, I translated and taught him English. I was surprised because Rain studied hard,” Lee Yoon Jin said about being Rain’s English teacher. The host also added that it is impressive that Rain does his best in everything he does.

Rain, 10 hours of training, lost 13 kilograms (2008/04/17)
The road to getting a leading role in Hollywood is difficult. Rain (http://www.hancinema.net/korean_Rain.php), who was cast in "Ninja Assassin", is trying hard.

Rain (http://www.hancinema.net/korean_Rain.php) went to Germany on March 7, and he has been training hard since 6 am for ten hours for the action scenes in the movie. The movie production company said that he also has to watch what he eats. A representative of J-Tune, Rain (http://www.hancinema.net/korean_Rain.php)'s company, said, "It hasn't been long since he started training officially. But he started dieting from the end of last year and has stopped intake of carbohydrates. He hasn't eaten a grain of rice. He is eating chicken breast, raw fish, sweet potatoes, and salad, and he receiving hard training". Because of his diet and training, he has lost about 12 kilograms.

Despite the harshness, he doesn't miss training and is eager for his first main role.

Racy Rain shifts into top gear (2008/04/16)

Role in Wachowski brothers' movie leads to other Hollywood jobs

Pop star Rain (http://www.hancinema.net/korean_Rain.php) has leapt into the Hollywood limelight. He's been cast in "Speed Racer", a live action film by the Wachowski brothers, the creators of "The Matrix" (1999).
Speed Racer, which will be released worldwide on May 8, is based on "Mach Go Go Go", the 1960s Japanese animation series by cartoonist Tatsuo Yoshida.
The main character, Speed Racer (Emile Hirsch), is a veteran motorist whose whole family is involved in the cross-country racing business.
Rain (http://www.hancinema.net/korean_Rain.php), real name Jeong Ji-hun, plays rookie racer Taejo Togokhan.
"He [Togokhan] has a forceful personality", Jeong said, noting that Togokhan is cast as the villain because he has such an overpowering urge to win.
The rookie teams up with Speed Racer and Racer X (Matthew Fox) and gives his all to win races for his family's honor.
"No actor would have turned down this role, especially when the movie is directed by Hollywood directors [Andy and Larry Wachowski]", Jeong said.
He also said that the upcoming film portrays hopes and dreams, feelings and emotions he is experiencing as he embarks upon his Hollywood debut.
As an actor representing Korea, Jeong has tried to think of ways to reveal his nationality in the film.
The production team agreed to support his patriotism, and chose the name of Jeong's character carefully.
They came up with Taejo Togokhan — Taejo referring to Taejo Wang Geon, the founder of the Goryeo Dynasty.
Jeong's scenes also feature many Hangul letters, which indirectly introduce Korea and its culture.
"I asked the production crew to portray Hangul characters in the scenes", Jeong said. "As you will see in the film, Togokhan is written in Hangul. Many Westerners who saw the film said the letters were pretty".
In the film, Jeong didn't actually get behind the wheel of a speeding racing car.
Those scenes were shot on a green screen using a three-dimensional video-editing technique.
"It would have been nice to have had the chance to barrel along", Jeong said.
Jeong was impressed by the advanced equipment and technology that the team worked with.
At times he was acting alone on a blank screen, when he looked at the monitor later, there were buildings and cars in the background.
While filming extra scenes for Speed Racer, the Wachowski brothers asked Jeong to star as the main character in their next project, "Ninja Assassin".
The directors had just finished planning the film and were closely observing the Korean actor.
"People say luck brings luck but in this case, I'm sure it was my hard work that won me this new role".

Currently, Rain (http://www.hancinema.net/korean_Rain.php) is training in Berlin for his Ninja Assassin scenes.
"From 6 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon, I receive hard-core training", Jeong said.
He works out every day to lose weight and he practices martial arts.
Jeong is not giving up his music for acting, though.
He contributed a song to the original soundtrack for the animated film "Kung Fu Panda" (2008).
DreamWorks invited Jeong to perform on the film as a singer.
He had enjoyed listening to the original song of "Kung Fu Fighting", so when he was invited by Carl Douglas to take part, he didn't hesitate.
Jeong never imagined himself working with big Hollywood stars.
"I'm not the guy who thoroughly calculates before planning a career or work", Jeong said. "If I had calculated, I wouldn't be who I am at the moment".
But he is not letting his success go to his head. He knows he has to continue to work hard.
"The key to success is not to stop challenging yourself, try new fields, remain focused and consider what you want", he said.

Rain in "TIME" Magazine for 3rd Consecutive Year (2008/04/11)

http://www.hancinema.net/images/rain_08_time.gif (http://www.hancinema.net/link.php?id=13341)Actor and singer Rain (http://www.hancinema.net/korean_Rain.php) was asked for an interview with the weekly U.S. journal "TIME", according to J. Tune Entertainment.

Every year, "TIME" magazine presents a select list of "100 of the World's Most Influential People" and currently, Rain has surpassed Britney Spears on the online voting site, "2008 Time 100". The request for an interview comes from the "TIME" video web coverage segment, "10 Questions".

This is the third consecutive year that Rain has been linked to "TIME". The Hallyu star was chosen for the "TIME 100" list in 2006 and walked the red carpet with powerful figures such as U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and movie mogul Jerry Bruckheimer.

In 2007, he was ranked number one on the online voting system set up for the "TIME 100" and introduced to "TIME" readers as "Asia's Prince of Pop". Once again he is ranked first on the online poll this year along with an interview that can be viewed by a global audience.

The "TIME" editor-in-chief will select ten questions from the countless number sent in to the website (http://www.time.com/10questions) by netizens all over the world.

He’s finally back temporarily. He looks very good & HOT! His skin is so fair & white. And he looks so happy back home. I’m so happy, too seeing him healthy & fine. Wondering why he didn’t remove his headphone while he’s being interviewed, can he hear the question well or might be the headphone is off. And the straw hat, who gave this to him? He looks much better as I expected. Oh, he’s on pony-tailed hair. I’ve been so nervous of all the reports of the weight he lost. When I saw his pix last weekend, the moment I opened my laptop, I almost had a heart attack – lol.

Joel Silver talks NINJA ASSASSIN (not Assassins)
4/19/2008
Posted by Frosty

Just a few hours ago I was in Long Beach attending the “Speed Racer” junket. To answer your immediate question…I loved the movie. In the coming days I’ll write a lot more than that, but for now, let’s get to the reason you’re here.

While I got to participate in roundtable interviews with most of the cast and super producer Joel Silver, I also managed to talk with Joel after the junket had ended and got a few interesting bits of info as an exclusive.

What I found out was the Wachowski’s have already figured out an idea for a sequel to “Speed Racer,” and even better than that…they’ve already come up with an idea for a sequel to a movie that’s not even begun to film yet…“Ninja Assassin!”

If you don’t know about "Ninja Assassin," it’s being directed by James McTeigue (“V for Vendetta”) and it was written by the Wachowski’s. According to Joel, production begins in a few weeks and he confirmed my Collin Chou story from earlier this week as he didn’t mention him when I asked about the cast.

Oh, and for the record, it’s not “Ninja Assassins,” because when I said the name he corrected me with “Assassin.”

Expect a lot more on “Speed Racer” in the coming days.

Collider: I spoke with you at ShoWest and you gave me a little bit of an update on Shane Black. Is it any closer?

Joel Silver: Hopefully this May. I hope May. (I think he means he’ll be getting the script?)

Collider: And then we have Ninja Assassins.

Joel Silver: Ninja Assassin.

Collider: So how is that progressing?

Joel Silver: Fantastic. We start shooting in 3 weeks.

Collider: There was a little story online about casting. What’s going on with casting on that?

Joel Silver: Rain. We’ve got Naomie Harris is going to be in the movie. I don’t think we announced her yet. She’s the girl in the movie – Mika. And the other parts are coming together – we’re making it happen…we’re working on it now.

Collider: And how has it been working with James on this? Is he excited to get started?

Joel Silver: Oh God yeah. He’s got his hands full. It’s a big movie.. it’s not an expensive movie but it’s a lot of work. A lot of visual effects, it’s not like this (he’s talking about Speed Racer) but like we did on The Matrix movies.

Collider: What else do you have coming up besides Ninja Assassin? Is there any other project that’s getting ready to go?

Joel Silver: RocknRolla will come out next.

Collider: I actually spoke to someone who said it’s very good.

Joel Silver: It’s very good.

Collider: Are they making a trilogy?

Joel Silver: Maybe…if it works. It’s really good and it’s a lot of fun. I think it’s the best movie Guy ever made.

Collider: I want to follow up with a question from the roundtables. I asked you if Larry and Andy had come to you and made you smile with a new idea.

Joel Silver: Look, they have a great story idea for a sequel to this movie (Speed Racer), we have a great idea for a sequel if it makes sense to make it. They have a great idea for a sequel to Ninja if they want to make it. We’re having a good time. I love working with them and it’s a great joy to have them in my life. They’re smart and funny and they love the kind of movies I love and they know how to make them like no one else. I look at this movie and can’t believe we created it. I can’t believe it exists.

Collider: I know you have to go, but one last question for you…with The Matrix you guys raised the bar with action and you did things that no one had ever done. Is Ninja Assassin in that kind of light?

Joel Silver: I hope so. But it’s fighting, it’s kung-fu. We did other things in The Matrix that we’re not really doing in this one as much…like car chases and helicopters and all that stuff. This is a martial arts movie.

***This is a good article. Always good to read something like this about him. It’s so nice to hear that RAIN hasn’t changed a bit as a person. Still the same as before. Good to know that he’s still in-touch with his bodyguard. I hope he’ll always stay the same. I’m so proud of him.

08 Apr 18 [Fan Account] Ji-hoon--From The Eyes of His Bodyguard

(Korean fan accidentally had the opportunity to see "Uncle", there was probably some event, saw several female entertainers...)

Ji hoon is very honest and kind-hearted^^
Even when remotely busy overseas,
he makes phone calls to Uncle to send regards, hoping that he's well and healthy~~~

Also during this time's visit to Korea, he had hoped that he will be with Uncle in Seoul,
So he is his bodyguard this time around,
Will also be going to Hong Kong with him~~~

Towards elders he is respectful and submissive,
Towards people with "principal and subsidiary causes" (Deb's note: not sure what this means) he personally sends his best regards~~~

Uncle added, "Ji-hoon has not changed from the very first time I saw him until present day,
among entertainers this is rare~~~"

"Being a bodyguard for more than 10 years now,
I've seen that as entertainers become stars, it is not an easy matter to avoid changes.
Seeing how he constantly looks after his staff, it is truly not a simple task."
So Uncle has pushed aside other services (because spring time has recently arrived, there are more outdoor activities and broadcast programs going on, Uncle's face looks very dark)
He will first and foremost be of service to Ji-hoon~
(Even though Ji-hoon is young in age, he is Uncle's most favorite client, and from everyone's perspective, he is also someone whom Uncle highly respects, so whenever he calls Ji-hoon, he adds "sshi" to his name, i.e. as in Ji-hoon-sshi)
He is very happy that Ji-hoon is able to look after himself.

Although this was very short, it is exciting whenever we hear about matters regarding Ji-hoon from someone else other than fans ^^
And because we're fans of Rain, we are very very proud of this~~~~~

RAIN SPENT LAST WEEKEND AT HOME

Rain (real name Jung Ji-hoon) returned from Berlin (where he's filming Ninja Assassin) and arrived at Incheon International Airport last Saturday. The South Korean actor and singer was seen arriving wearing a pin striped suit, green shirt and straw hat. He was listening to his iPod and carried a Louis Vuitton bag at the arrival hall.

Fans of the 26 year-old World Star was there to greet him. Korean fans are really proud of their star as he will be in TIMES Magazine's coveted 100 of the World's Most Influential People list once again this year! Rain spent last weekend at home recuperating from his long flight and also spent some precious time meeting his family and friends. With his hectic schedule and numerous projects, i'll bet he hardly gets time off to do these things.

Bi will fly to Hong Kong to promote Speed Racer on Tuesday (22 April). He will also be attending the Speed Racer screening in Los Angeles on the 25 April 2008 at The ImaginAsian Center at 7:30pm.

Read more about the LA Speed Racer screening (http://myjungjihoon.blogspot.com/2008/04/rain-attending-advanced-screening-of.html) and how you can win a chance to meet with Rain himself at the screening on ImaginAsianTV! (http://www.iatv.tv/speedracer/)

This is my fan account of this morning!! Enjoy!!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok, so there were a total of 8 fans at LAX this morning to greet Rain. Considering that this was such short notice and the middle of the week, I’m glad that some fans showed up. I bought him flowers (red roses) and JeanY made a present for him.

He didn’t come out of Bradley Terminal this time. LAX directed all the flights from Cathay Pacific to Terminal 4. Initially, there were 6 of us waiting for him to come out. 2 Chinese fans who were on the same flight as him, and the 4 of us from Rain-USA (me, JeanY, Lluvia, and mmeng).

Like the HK Clouds said, he wore a black beanie, a long black t-shirt with a wing design on it, sunglasses, and jeans. I didn’t get a good look at his shoes. His entourage consisted of 5 people I think. 4 men and 1 woman. Unlike the last airport thing in November, we didn’t really scream. We called out his name but there was no screaming. I think all of us were just in awe of his presence. And we didn’t want to scare him.

We followed him out of the terminal and tried to give our presents to him. One of his staff took it from us so I’m happy. We thought there was going to be a car waiting for him outside but surprisingly, they crossed the street and headed towards the parking structure. They cross the crosswalk and we followed a few feet behind. Well, the light turned red so they had to stop at the gap in the middle of the connecting crosswalks. Thank goodness for that red light because we got to stare at him for a little longer. Many of us kept talking to him, saying stuff like “Welcome back to LA” or “Congratulations on Speed Racer.” JeanY was a little hyper and kept asking if she could get a picture of him but that one staff said no pictures.

Bi acknowledged us and turned around to look at everyone, and smiled a little. Then I don’t know if it was him or a fan who started it, but he went around and shook all of our hands! (Fangirly moment: I got to touch Rain! I shook his hand!! *SQUEEEE*) I was holding Lluvia’s son, Kai, in my arms because he’s so small and couldn’t see Bi. Lluvia then asked Bi if he could shake Kai’s hand too, because Kai was reaching out his hand to him also. Of course Bi complied and took Kai’s hand. Omgosh, it was the cutest thing! Bi’s smile got bigger as he looked at Kai and made this noise, almost reminding me of a giggle and an ‘awwww’ sound combined. You can totally tell this guy loves kids.

The light turned green and they crossed the crosswalk and entered the parking structure. At this point, the 4 of us from Rain-USA stop following him and Bi and his staff took the elevator up to the 2nd floor. A few minutes later, Jodie and her friend show up with a fruit basket or something like that. She told me later that she was successful in giving it to him. So the 4 of us were standing in the parking lot, in shock and totally hyper. We were talking for a few minutes when a black suburban turns the corner and stops a few feet away from us. The car door opens and we see Bi in the backseat. Even from a distance he looks good. They exit the parking lot and drive away.

So, this was the best experience EVER! We got to be so close to him and everyone was relatively calm and polite. I’m so proud of everyone! As a result, he shook our hands!! (Fangirly momen: I GOT TO TOUCH RAIN!!!) By the way, his hands are really soft, especially for a guy. I was surprised. He doesn’t look as thin as he does in pictures. I think it’s because his shoulders are so broad. But his waist line is kind of slender. But it’s ok, he looks soooooo good in person. Very hot!

I’m sorry, I didn’t take pictures. I forgot my camera. But other people did and I’m sure they’ll be posted up soon. Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoyed this.

In other words: Mission Accomplished. XDDD

Four stingy questions about Rain's Hollywood entrance

http://photo-media.daum-img.net/200804/22/akn/20080422112209.902.0.jpg

Top star Rain is starring in Hollywood blockbuster "Speed Racer", which cost 300 billion won ($US 300 million), and will reveal his face to the whole world. He plays a handsome character with a big part, not distorted because he's Asian.

Rain, who rose as a singer and actor in Korea, came close to being a world star after a world tour, including a performance in America. With this movie, he will establish a foundation. With his sincerity and effort, he came out earlier than expected. He also has the lead role for "Ninja Assassin", the next work of the Wachowski brothers, the directors of "Speed Racer". The directors did not hesitate to put Rain in the leading role of their big project, ten years in the making.

At this point, it's hard not to be curious about the chemistry between Rain and "Speed Racer". The answers come from the world premiere on the 18th and an interview with Rain. Of course, most of the answers are not disappointing.

Does Rain speak English well?

When Rain, who was born, raised, and worked in Korea, said he would come out in a Hollywood movie, everyone was doubtful about his English skills. Would he be able to show his talent when he had to focus on accomplishing his English lines?

But after the premiere, there were many in the audience who applauded Rain's natural recitation of his lines. There weren't any long and difficult lines, but there was no indication that it was his first English movie.

Rain said that the secret for these results were 'honestly'. He said, "From the beginning, I truthfully admitted that I was learning English and to tell me if I pronounced something wrong. My fellow actors also corrected my usage, and monitored my scenes especially with care".

His way of studying English is to talk to himself. He revealed, "It's become a habit to sit at a coffee shop and ask questions and answer them by myself. My English is still at a conversation level, but by next year, I hope to speak comfortable even in a formal setting".

Taejo Togokhan? Isn't he Japanese?

Asian roles in Hollywood movies are usually Japanese or Chinese. This movie was a remake of the Japanese comic "Mahha GoGoGo" and there was speculation that Rain's haracter Taejo Togokhan was Japanese. It's not a big problem of what nationality he is, but there was the desire that it would be known as a Korean.

The movie approached his nationality vaguely, and took a step back from the problem. Togokhan's father seems Chinese, and his younger sister seems Japanese. The company name at the office is in Korean. Rain's opinion greatly influenced the Korean in the movie. Rain took care of the problem by saying "Taejo Togokhan is just Asian American".

Easy to adjust to Hollywood actors and system?

He wasn't absolutely alone, but there were a lot of things he had to do alone in that unfamiliar place. Rain said he was worried at first. "It seemed Hollywood top stars wouldn't be as kind to Asians".

But the results were opposite. Rain was amazed at the set, directors, and actors, but he was determined not to make it obvious. So he had no NGs or faults. The actors were nice and they got along well.

Rain revealed his ability to adapt. "Almost everything was filmed with a green screen. It was embarrassing to stare into space and recite lines with nothing there, but after the second time, I got used to it and it was fun".

He also got along with the actors. "There is a scene where I punch Emile Hirsch. I still remember people monitoring in front of the camera and telling me that I did really well. And Susan Sarandon, who I liked when I was young, complimented my acting and it seemed like a dream. Later, she took a signed CD, saying that she saw my performance on YouTube. She sent a letter congratulating my Hollywood debut, and I have it safe at home".

"I watched 'Lost', 'Prison Break', and 'Entourage" to study English, and it was nice to meet Matthew Fox, the main character of 'Lost'. He is handsome, and I tried hard to get close to them".

As the directors, Rain, who didn't have a single NG, seemed to be a logical choice for their next work. Rain wanted to treat them to Korean food, and invited them to Korean restaurant in Berlin for bulgogi and kimchi. The Wachoski brothers then asked, "You work very hard. There's something we've been preparing for ten years. Do you want to do it?"

Rain said, "Sure. Who's the main character?" And the directors answered, "It's you". And so, "Ninja Assassin", filming from next month, will allow Rain to do the action and sad acting that he wanted.

Is there a big emphasis?

Taejo Togokhan is an important character who controls the main character's situation. He is not simply a sweet friend or an evil character, but a role whose mystery grows towards the end of the movie. Rain acted out scenes when he was angry, nervous about a competition, and cheering innocently.

Initially, the emphasis was small, but it grew with Rain's efforts. How hard he must have worked for the directors to expand his role. But if you know Rain's sincerity, it is easy to understand. Afraid that he would be pushed around by the actors, he didn't sleep right, wore the racing uniform in 35 degree Celsius weather, not asking for water or rest, and showed that 'Koreans are always like this'.

It is a custom for blockbusters, but there may be a third "Speed Racer", and Rain may have the opportunity to reveal the mystery behind Taejo Togokhan. He said, "I'm curious about some scenes toward the end. There seems to be something after that, but they won't tell me".

If anyone has been into the online game "Kart Rider" (http://kart.nexon.com/), the movie will seem exciting. You can see Rain holding a steering wheel in the midst of great computer graphics on May 8.

I didn't like that Colbert guy. How can I even respect somebody who makes fun of other people for a living? But after watching his latest tirade on Rain, well, he is soooo hilarious.

Colbert talking about Rain means that Rain has gotten so big. I hope Rain actually appears on the show.

Getting really exciting...

[April-28-2008] Interview with Rain(exclusive) by YeinJee
Interview with Rain(exclusive) by YeinJee

Interview with Rain (exclusive)
April 28, 2008

I was given the chance to talk (on phone) with Korean star Rain last Friday (April 25). The phone interview was arranged by the Warner Bros as part of their promotion activity for movie “Speed Racer”.

The interview was done with the help of an interpreter. The only English words Rain had said were “Hi, I am Rain” and “Thank you, thank you. Nice to be hearing from you”… but I’ll take it as an honour regardless.

So here it is, my interview with Rain…

Interview with Rain

Hi, I am Rain.

Anneohaseyo, thanks for accepting the interview.

Anneohaseyo.

What is your biggest attraction to appeal to the western audiences?

I think being an Asian itself is a big attraction for the audience over here.

What is the biggest different working in Korea and working in a Hollywood production?

Actually there is not much different between working in America and Korea; maybe the language is different, but most of all it’s similar.

What is the biggest challenge while filming the Speed Racer, is English still a barrier?

Actually it hasn’t been a year yet that I started to learn English; I am trying to do my best to get this language overcome. By next year I think I will be much better and free from this English barrier.
For now I don’t want to make any mistakes in public, so I am using an interpreter.

Is Rain a fan of the original anime?

Actually, Speed Racer was before I was born. I didn’t have the chance to watch what it is, but now I am a huge fan of it, definitely.

Who is your best friend among the cast? Did you make any good friends while filming the movie?

Actually for our cast, it was like a family to me; but amongst them, Susan Sarandon and Matthew Fox are my best friends… if I have to pick somebody.

Tell me more about the directors.

The Wachowski brothers were really really nice and they are very great person to work with.

Do you share any similarities with Taejo, your character in the movie? I mean your own real personality and the character in the movie.

There is nothing really in common between my character and his, but me being a bit dry… and quiet… might be a bit similar.

I read that you are disguising as a woman in the movie, mind sharing more about the story?

This is my first time dressing like a woman, and it’s the first time I knew my legs are actually very pretty.

There are a few Korean stars that are making their Hollywood debut this year, what do you think about the rising popularity of Korean artists in US?

Right now I don’t think that there is much popularity of Korean stars in America yet, but as along the way if there is more… good. I think the popularity of Korean actors will increase together with other Asian actors as well.

Is this the proudest moment throughout your career, or is there any other thing else?

Yes, for me right now it is the proudest moment, but I wish there will be more proud moments in future in my life as well.

Best wishes to you too. Thanks for the interview, kamsahamnida.

Thank you, thank you. Nice to be hearing from you.

(Rain’s ‘words’ are in Italic; minor editing was done for the completeness of the conversation)

The interview was conducted on behalf of Stareastasia.com, which I am one of the editors. We got the invitation in March to cover Rain’s promotion in Los Angeles, but none of the editors could make it to LA, so we had to resort to a phone interview instead… which was not bad at all.

To be frank there wasn’t much direct conversation with Rain. I was a bit surprise that he didn’t use his English for the interview; I have watched some of his English interviews on Youtube, and I think he did pretty well with those. He sounds humble and polite during the interview, a bit more of confidence with his English is what he need to exile in the west.

I know some of Rain’s fans are eager to see some saucy and more private questions, but do mind that this is a promotion event for Speed Racer after all… I should keep the questions related to the movie as much as possible.

Speed Racer will hit the theaters on May 9. You can watch some trailers and get more information about the movie as its official website. Thanks to Rain, Warner Bros, and the coordinators for the interview.

08 Apr 28 [WenHuiDaily] Rain Submits Willingly To Supporting Role (Synthesis)

http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee79/malaydebster/en0428a3.jpg

South Korean "Son of Heaven" Rain (Jung Ji-hoon) has been in the scene for 6 years, stealing the hearts of tens of thousands of young girls in Asia. Last year, he laid aside the Asian market during its peak of power, and rushed over to film his first Hollywood movie <Speed Racer>. He not only willingly took on the supporting role, but in the movie he also dressed up as a woman. His ability to put himself aside to act in this movie, is all because of the directors of <The Matrix>, the Wachowski Brothers. For his first Hollywood movie, Rain gives himself the perfect score of 100.

Last week, Rain swept through Hong Kong for 3 days for his first Hollywood movie. He has recently been busy filming another Hollywood movie and he looked like he had lost a lot of weight. Rain, who always had special sentiments for Hong Kong, was under the protection of more than 10 bodyguards; accepting interviews from reporters all around Asia at the Peninsula Hotel. In <Speed Racer>, apart from race car driving and the showing off of muscles, Rain also played an out-of-character role of a woman. When asked how he felt at that time? He was not bashful when he said that he greatly approved his legs.

"The scene of playing the role of a woman is very much unforgettable. At first I was worried that the part of me disguising as a woman would not turn out great, but after putting on white 'coveralls' (not sure what this means) and seeing myself made-up as a woman, I discovered that even my legs looked good." Since this is his first Hollywood movie, how would Rain rate himself? "Each time I work I put forth 100% of my effort, so for every single time I achieve the same, and this is no exception."

LOOKING OUT FOR ONE ANOTHER IN THE MOVIE

In the movie, fast-actor Rain puts on thick race car driver clothes, and speeds quickly through a race course that is filled with surprises, passing through various regions. In reality, during the official filming, Rain only simulated his performance in a cab; whenever sitted he would be in it for more than half an hour at a time, causing him much backache. Rain expressed that it was an unforgettable experience simulating the scenes of the car race, but what was even more unforgettable was how the staff were so good to him. "As an Asian actor, I expressed very honestly with the other actors that I am not US-born, and therefore my spoken English is not necessarily very fluent, so I hope that everyone will be patient with me. Of course during the initial period of filming it was quite difficult, but there was much help from many of the actors, like from Susan Sarandon who plays Speed's mom in the movie. We got along really well; not only did we become very open and honest friends (everything was discussed), I also gave her an autographed concert DVD as well as wrote her a letter, thanking her for taking care of me."

PUTTING HIMSELF ASIDE TO LEARN

Filming this Hollywood movie is different from his past movie project; his role does not come to play until 30 minutes after the start of the movie. Although it is a supporting role, the salary for it is quite substantial. And yet after receiving the role, he did not even consider the question of his pay for it; all he could think of was to start studying and preparing well for the role.

"Before accepting this movie, there were 3, 4 movie invitations for me to take on lead roles, but I declined them. I thought that for my first Hollywood performance, taking on the lead role as a start would not be appropriate, By starting off with a supporting role, I can learn first and adapt slowly thereafter, then consider taking a lead role for my next work. On the other hand, I really like this fast-paced character. I know that this is based off one of a historical Japanese cartoon, so basically it doesn't matter too much if it's the lead or supporting role."

As his first Hollywood work, did Rain not feel any pressure? Is there a difference in movie-making between Hollywood and Korea?

"The reality is that during the process of filming, there is really not much difference between Hollywood and Korea. Everyone is just as enthusiastic. I'd say the only distinction is I will study harder when I go to a foreign place." But earlier on producer Joel Silver had given high approvals of Rain, he said, "I think that people will be charmed by Rain's performance, he has great attraction on the big screen." After his Hollywood film shoot, are there any intentions to return to South Korea to film any movies? "I will be paying attention to scripts and characters, as long as there is a good role, I will consider."

*** I love the part where Colbert said farewell to RAIN from the 3F. I love reading this fan account – I always love fan accounts. Can’t wait to see the program to be aired soon. I know Colbert is always giving a hard time to all his guests but I hope he was good to RAIN. I just hate seeing people being mean to RAIN.

Fan Account from cuckoo@Rain-USA (very cute)

Yesterday, it was definitely a rainy day...

I arrived Colbert building at 1pm, it was a quiet street. I saw the door was opened and two camera men were sitting there. Then, I asked them if they came for filming Rain. They said "yes" and advised me to line up for stand by tickets if I wanted to watch the show. Then, they closed the door. I turned around and found a black "Excurion" across the street. Also, 2 teenager fans (one of them wore Rainy Day T-shirt) stood behind the car. I guessed Rain was here already. Suddenly, those 2 fans walked towards me. They were local NY chinese fans and we introduced to each other. One girl asked me if that car was Rain's. I said "I believe so". Few seconds, the door opened and Rain got off the car. He wore sunglasses, light color suit and tied up the hair. He walked slowly towards Colbert building. One fan screamed loud "Rain...Rain...I love you...Rain". Rain looked at us and we waved to him. Of course, our prince looked so happy and waved back to us. Then he walked up the staircase and went inside the studio.

We, 3 Clouds, were still waiting in front of building. The weather was really bad and this may be the reason why Rain changed his schedule an hour early. This was Monday afternoon, many fans could not make it and probably would arrive later afternoon. Around 2:30pm, Jay and Mike arrived, they stayed with us 30 minutes and went to coffee break. Right after they left us, Rain walked out from studio. He made some phone calls. We looked at his back...oh! it was a perfect figure. Yes, he lost some weight but his shoulder was still strong. He took off the jacket and wore white T-shirt with dressed vest and pant with white sneakers. It's cool

Around 3:30pm, Jay and Mike came back. Suddenly, Colbert's staff jumped in front of us. They needed some fans' shots for Rain and asked if we were okay to be "temporaily" stars...haaa....Certainly, I was there for Rain... We all okay for filming. Then, Jay and Mike held on the big poster as background, I and other 2 fans screamed and jumped up and down "I love Rain"....[so funny, hopefully, it came out nice...my funny face]

At 4pm, our portion was done. Rain has already stood in front of building and ready to leave. He walked down from building. I and other fans were screaming, "Rain...Rain.." He waved back with very very sweet happy smile. He had wonderful mood. Then, he jumped into the car. I walked towards his car. He rolled down the window. Those 2 fans gave me DVD and he signed for them. I got my autograph in Berlin and I wanted to shake hands with him. I said ĽŇ°íÇĎĽĚ˝Ŕ´Ď´Ů (English means "working hard, thanks"). He smiled.

Oh! Suddenly, there was a loud voice came from upstair. "Rain, bye" I looked up. Stephen Colbert was up there on the 3rd floor. Then, Rain looked up and screamed back "Bye, Stephen".....haaa...

Then, Rain left with his staffs. One teenager fan cried after Rain left...it reminds me that Our Prince will leave us soon. He needed to fly to London for Speed Racer PR and will begin filming in Berlin for "Nanja Assassin"...

Missing you, Rain, our Ji Hoon...please take care!

Talking about the TIME 100 Poll, the poll is over & he’s on the 2nd place. This is fine – before Colbert – lol. Congratulations to all his fans for working so hard, bringing him on this spot.

*** Can’t wait to see the video. I hope they both had fun together. I’m excited of their meeting but worried at the same time because I know the only problem would be the language barrier. This Colbert is a character. He’s hilarious. But I hope people & fans won’t take Colbert seriously. It’s a friendly feud. His show is always funny with a lot of political bashing on prominent personalities in the world. For me, it’s a good press release for RAIN’s Hollywood invasion. I saw the video - he’s imitating RAIN’s dance – so funny. GO, RAIN! Funny how he actually wants RAIN to guest on his show for a dance-off, if this would happen, that would make my day! At least Colbert knows who RAIN is!

**********************************************************************************

One of America's most popular comedians, Steven Colbert, is fighting Korean singer-turned-actor Rain, for his number one spot on the Time "Top 100 Most Influential People in the World" poll.

Last year, the 43-year-old comedian, who is best known for his show "The Colbert Report" on Comedy Central, made a parody video (http://youtube.com/watch?v=dZ9EVN5iPVA)of Rain's music video "How to Avoid the Sun," (http://youtube.com/watch?v=T2p6uzk_VO8)after he found out that the singer was named "the most influential" person of 2007.

Although this year's online poll has already been open to the public to vote, the rivals are just beginning their face off.

"I will not have this Korean war end like the last one... with a sitcom starring Alan Alda," Colbert said on his show April 23.

On the show, Colbert also showed a video clip of Rain "trash talking" him in an interview with Time.

"I saw your Korean pop video on your show, and I have to say you look almost as good as me," Rain, 25, said. "But, as for the singing, lets just say... please don't quit your day job."

Colbert responded by saying that his day job was being the president of his hate club, and that he would like to have Rain come on his show for a dance off.

*** I enjoyed reading this. He's quite thin now but you can still see that huge muscles & biceps - his body is still toned. I do envy you - you're such a lucky person that you were able to see him. His get-up wearing that suit makes him so dashing. It's just too bad that he was parting his hair at the middle again. So happy to know that he's so nice & sweet to his fans there by waving them back every time they screamed & signing autographs for them. I noticed that he usually walk very fast every time there are fans running after him. I'm sure his co-stars have realized & know now how popular RAIN is worldwide, how his fans support & love him. He looks so happy all the time inspite of the fatigue probably that he's feeling recently because of traveling from one place to another. So happy to know that so many fans were there to support him inspite of the rains. :)

My experience at London Leicester Square Premier (SR)

It was raining almost the whole day. He brought RAIN with him...
It was fun and exciting (with a little bit of disappointment and pretty much embarrassment) ..... you will see as you read on.

Before his arrival
I arrived there about 3:30pm and greeted Shaf(soompier) and other fans. All of them are so nice and friendly. When I saw his huge Taejo poster along with other 4 actors, I was so happy for him. His role couldn't be minor.right? I tried to search some other fans but seems like fans are all over the place... here and there. So I gave up.
Anyway, I had to leave the place for a while to meet my friends who love to see Ji Hoon too...
When I came back, I was a bit late to get the good spot but not far... I was still pretty close to the red carpet area right in front of Empire.
There're many more fans than I thought there would be... which is suprising and amazing. I was so happy for Ji Hoon...

During walking through red carpet
I saw him on the big screen first ( I think it was about 6:15... I'm not sure) and my heart was beating so fast. It's crazy... I still couldn't see him though... cause he was stopping and signing autographs for fans and a bit far from where we were... after a few minutes, we saw him walking towards the part where we were and we're screaming our heads off. He stopped for press for quite a while. I think He spent the longest time among actors and stars on red carpet before he went into the cinema. He stopped everywhere BUT he didn't come to us .... he just smiled and waved from afar. He's so sweet and charming when he smiles... 100% *thumb up*

I think the scream coming from the crowd (our side) must be the loudest... Press, media and stars were staring and keep looking at our crowd. They might think we are super nut.
Well, here is embarrassing part... I think Ji Hoon doesn't like us shouting out loud his name... Our intention was to get his attention and to let press know that there're so many of us there for Ji Hoon. But I think we scared him...
I'm very embarrassed after thinking about the premier and why he didn't stop near our crowd but other places. It must be the scream...

After this event, I will try not to scream his name again IF I ever see him again... I was so out of control there. I hope that won't happen again.
I'm so sorry about my behaviour... eventhough our intention was all for him, it didn't turn out that way. I don't blame him. He's still smiled and waved. He seems nice and adorable.

By the way, I saw Emile Hirsh as well and crowd was screaming "Rain... Jung Ji Hoon". I felt a bit bad. Well, I was there for Ji Hoon... so, sorry Emile.

Departure
I was having a coffee in Burger King and looking over the premier and saw people started gathering there. I went there again and asked some people. They said casts will leave from the same entrance. So I waited there. After a few minutes (around 8pm), Joel Silver came out first and gave autograph to a few fans. Then I saw Ji Hoon coming out and I called out "Ji Hoon Shi" (this time was not scream... I just raised my voice a little... ) . He turned around smiling and waved again walking toward the car... I think he did that to the crowd . I don't think he heard me. I and a few fans run along to get a last glance but...oh Gosh!!! He walked amazingly quick, we're literally ranni
