the second night, we got seats... and after the concert was in new world til round 2am, just to see him... kaso we expected too much na he would stop, wave or even just smile, and he didn't.. honestly we got bombed out... hahaha! i mean we waited... for him.... but then again, who would be in the mood to wave and entertain fans at 2am?! right?!

also they are saying that lee hom MIGHT be the special guest sa taiwan concert?! oh my... i would be kicking myself if thats gonna happen...

what i love abt maggie q in being a co-presenter of bi, she was most esp nice and in a cheerful disposition. she even touched bi quickly, i think. yrs ago during the Magic Kitchen film promo, maggie q, nicole and jerry yan (very phenomenal then) showed for presscon in Singapore. a lot of jerry fans were screaming and the press was asking jerry all the questions. maggie was irked and she even commented that no one seems to care abt her anyways. unlike in this awards show, when bi fans were screaming she was smiling and told bi, “nothing of that was for me”. sweet. and to think that she has always been with guys who have a lot more fans than her.

Rain - real name is Jung Ji-hoon - will present his one-night-only Shanghai concert at the Shanghai Stadium on April 14, part of his world tour which kicked off in Seoul last month and will take in 12 countries and regions including the United States and Singapore.

About 60 percent of the tickets, priced between 120 yuan (US$15) and 1,880 yuan, have already been booked, mainly by Rain’s fans clubs and several corporations, according to the local promoter Shanghai Bellson.

“Shanghai is the first stop of Rain’s world tour on the Chinese mainland,” said Jin Xiaojing from Shanghai Bellson. “After that Rain will give another six shows at China’s major cities through mid-May.”

The 25-year-old star is hailed for his good looks, spellbinding dance moves and stage presence. In addition to his hits, a special section will be included in Rain’s Shanghai concert, during which the star may perform martial arts and popular Chinese songs.

not going to any more Rain concerts abroad.. (for lee hom, i might, hehehe!)
i was in the Vietnam concert for 2 nights and that's enuf for me. hahaha! guess my curiousity was satisfied...

don't get me wrong... just that, its basically the same. even what he was saying.. wait... especially what he was saying...

i mean i dont mind the repeats of the songs and dances. i paid to see that... i love to see that... seeing him dance it's kinda mesmerizing... makes your jaw drop...

but what we were laughing about was we kinda "memorized" what he was suppose to be saying, especially on the second night.. stuff like "i'm gonna call you my... babies..." and others like that... quite sweet on the first night... hahaha! but the second night.. we were saying it with him na..

i know, its given, the fact that he was saying english and that they have to be prepared for the Vietnamese subbs...
but in my opinion it kinda "robot-ized" the talking part...
i know fans are there to actually see the performance but also cant deny the fact that they will be expecting to see the "real person" real in the sense that he would interact with the audience...
i mean he has a live band, a few second delay would'nt hurt, would it?

i really hope this will be addressed if he seriously wants to be global.
(i know this might not reach him or his people, but a shout out to anybody who has access.. for die-hard fanatics, they will be busy screaming their lil hearts out.. but for a fan... a newbie at that... little things like this still matters)

but its a good idea to have concerts with special guests. i just hope they will be performing together... which i seriously doubt will happen.. special guest might just be opening acts or fillers... considering they might not be able to "practice" due to busy skeds...

Geez, I'm not picking a fight with you. I'm just setting things straight. And please re-read my original post and understand it well first. If you don't understand Tagalog, then I'd gladly translate it for you. I said don't take everything that was written there as correct and factual, because some parts were not what Bi said originally (even the creator of that list would tell that to you). Nowhere in my post did I say that BiKyoers should stop believing and hoping in BiKyo. I'm just keeping everyone grounded with reality since all BiKyoers are tagged by antis as a delusional bunch.

So I guess, for the sake of respecting someone's opinion, it's ok to let people be mislead by things posted on the internet just to keep their hopes up about the couple? And when someone wants to correct something, it's tagged as starting a fight? Gosh.

I think some people in this forum could attest that I'd probably be the last person on earth who will shatter the hopes of BiKyoers everywhere.

“Shanghai is the first stop of Rain’s world tour on the Chinese mainland,” said Jin Xiaojing from Shanghai Bellson. “After that Rain will give another six shows at China’s major cities through mid-May.”

As for his China concerts, it was put up to be "to be confirmed" in the website...i read in RainSg that is is "postponed indefinitely due to permit issues"....

yup i think so too mas lumutang ang ganda ni shk sa maong whether mini or pants and tees. pang date look nga sana pagtapos ng world tour eh harapin naman nila ang personal lives nila.

hindi yung thailand ang inaalala ko. mas worid ako for his USA tours bec. of the recent VIRGINIA TECH campus carnage wherein identified na ang gunman ay south korean national (na permanent residnt na sa US) who was a senior english major. madaming mga koreans studying there and living in the USA are afraid of the racial backlash that this may cause. parang ang kasalanan ng iisa ay magboomerang sa lhat ng koreans. sad but true. the guy was a psycho to have killed all 32 ppl in that day of infamy, as matt lauer of Today has described it. siyempre kc korean si rain and since this is very recent and caused a worldwide shock, baka maapektuhan ang concert niya. well, sana naman eh hindi.

Rain to Perform at Madison Square Garden Again (2007/04/19)



Top Korean singer Rain (http://www.hancinema.net/korean_Rain.php) will hold another concert at Madison Square Garden in New York, the venue of his debut performance in America. The New York concert is part of his June world tour, which includes stops in Atlanta, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.

Prior to his American tour, Rain (http://www.hancinema.net/korean_Rain.php) will hold a concert at the Tokyo Dome in Japan on May 25th for over 35,000 Japanese fans. The Tokyo Dome is also the home field for Korean slugger Lee Seung-yeop, who currently plays for Japan's top professional baseball team, the Yomiuri Giants. It has also served as the venue for concerts by the global pop stars Beyonce and Madonna.

Rain's world tour organizer confirmed his North American tour schedule in June. Rain will first perform at the Molson Amphitheater in Toronto, Canada on June 9. Then his next concert will be staged at the Philips Arena in Atlanta on June 15, New York's Madison Square Garden on June 23, at the Cow Palace in San Francisco on June 27,and the Staples Center in Los Angeles on June 30.

At the end of this month, Rain (http://www.hancinema.net/korean_Rain.php) will hold a concert in China, followed by one at Japan's Tokyo Dome. Before Rain leaves for North America, he will wrap up the Asian tour with shows in Thailand from June 2 to 3.

In yet another confirmation of his stature as an international star, Rain (http://www.hancinema.net/korean_Rain.php) is scheduled to be the first Korean singer to hold a concert at Japan's Tokyo Dome stadium. The pop sensation traveled to Japan on Wednesday, two days after returning from last week's successful performance in Australia, and announced his plans to perform at the Tokyo Dome at an official press conference.

Star M Entertainment, which is promoting Rain's world tour, recently agreed to bring the "Rain's Coming" tour to the Tokyo Dome on May 25. The Dome has hosted the world's top talents, such as Mariah Carey, the Rolling Stones, and Beyonce. The Dome, which is also the home of the Yomiuri Giants and Korean slugger Lee Seung-yeop, is the ultimate dream of many Japanese performers, but only top-drawer local acts have ascended its stage, including Ayumi Hamasaki, Glay, and SMAP.

Star M Entertainment announced the news in Japan with Rain (http://www.hancinema.net/korean_Rain.php) and said, "With Japan as the axis, Rain (http://www.hancinema.net/korean_Rain.php) spread the wave to Southeast Asia. Now he's reconfirming his stature with the concert at the Tokyo Dome".

The Dome can hold up to 42,000 people but it requires a minimum of 35,000 tickets to be sold. Only top-selling performers attempt to play there. The Japanese press at the time made a great fuss, calling it the biggest event in the history of the "Korean Wave".

Lingering rumors say that Star M Entertainment was worried about bringing Rain (http://www.hancinema.net/korean_Rain.php)'s tour to the Dome, which would mean just once performance there. Rain (http://www.hancinema.net/korean_Rain.php), however, decided to go ahead with the idea, believing himself to be "Asia's singer" and eager to be the first Korean singer to perform at the fabled stadium. Actresses Drew Barrymore, Halle Berry, Jennifer Lopez, the bassist of the rock band Fall Out Boy, Pete Wentz, and the star of the television drama “Prison Break” Wentworth Miller, known as Seok Ho-feel, in Korea, also made it onto the list.



The magazine grouped together 45 “first time beauties” like Rain and Miller, who made it onto the list for the first time.



The only Koreans who have made this list in the past were environmentalist Danny Seo (Seo Ji-yoon) in 1998 and the classical music band Ahn Trio in 2003.



Rain was previously chosen as one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine in 2006.

Entertainer Rain Disclosed to Help Cancer Patient

Top singer Rain, 25, with original name of Jung Ji-hoon, will be disclosed to have helped in secret his fan living a time-limited life due to serious cancer in a five-part special TV documentary Saturday.

Part 4 or "Promise of a Mum" of the Human Documentary "Love..." to be aired by MBC at 11 p.m. on May 19 contains a tearful story of Ahn So-bong, 33, who had been told to live a six-month life due to stomach cancer checked after the birth of her first daughter.

In the process of the documentary production, the program producer found the undisclosed good deed of Rain. He has ecouraged Ahn mentally and supported her financially.

Rain is a fervent fan of Ahn since he found that her husband Kim Jae-moon had posted a story in the fan cafe of JYP Entertainment Rain belonged to then, I hoped Ji-hoon would encourage my wife.

Rain, who lost his mother in his earlier days, gave much pity upon reading the story. During the Chuseok holiday last year, the singer called at the ward where Ahn had been hospitalized, surprising the cancer patient to her delight. He also delivered 20 million won for her treatment before leaving for the Winter World Tour concert last year. Thereafter, he has often made calls to her husband to ask about her health.

Rain felt much pain on hearing the story of a young mother who had faced a time-limited life after her first childbirth, recalling his mother who had died at earlier age, a close aide said. It is very awkward for me as it has been disclosed in disregard of my intention although I have done this simply for a personal reason, he was quoted as saying.

MBC has manufactured and aired the five-part documentary as a feature in the month of family, May.

Rain who won "The Best New Actor" award in PaekSang award, is again nominated in another Korean film award, i.e. the 44th Daejong Sang for "The Best New Actor". MC Mong, Liu Dehuan (pinyin), Pu Guangzhen (pinyin) and Daniel Henry are his competitors for this award.

The judge committees of Daejong Sang announced 29 nominated movies. From the announcement, Jeong Jihun (Rain) was nominated due to his important movie<I'm Cyborg but that's okay>.

Rain who recently revealed his casting in Hollywood movie <Speed Racer>, had been nominated in the 1st Asian Film Festival for the award "The Best Actor". Everyone is curious if he can win the award in Daejong again.

The 44th Daejong Film Festival begins on June 1 at HanRiver Park and the award presentation is held on June 8 in Sejong Centre.

06.01.07 Rain: "Hollywood..Want to Start Step-by-Step and Develop Gradually"

During the 31st of May (local time) movie release press conference of Hollywood movie 'Speed Racer' in Germany's Berlin Babelsberg Film Studio, Rain replied to reporter's performance-related question by saying, "I want to start step-by-step from the very basic and develop gradually."

According to a reporter at the press conference, when asked why he turned down other invitations to act in leading roles and the reason why he chose this movie, Rain replied "Because I want to start step-by-step from the very basic and develop gradually, that's why I chose 'Speed Racer'. Moreover, I have great confidence in the Wachowski Brothers, and I believe that by acting in this movie it will be of great help to my experience of movie performances."

Rain said, "Since my childhood days I've always liked Susan Sarandon, John Goodman and other such great actors, and to now be able to collaborate and work with them in this movie, I feel extremely honored."

On the 28th Rain arrived in Berlin, and on both days of the 29th and 30th the producers, the directors and cast members met.

At the conclusion of the press conference on the 31st, Rain left immediately for Bangkok to continue with his world tour. On June 2nd and 3rd he will be having his concerts, and on the 4th will return to his homeland.

Rain's role will portray the strength of an outstanding new Asian race car driver in ' Speed Racer', one who single-handedly defends and fights to keep his family property.

The cost of movie production is estimated to surpass 300,000,000,000 Han Yuan (not too sure about the conversion here). 'Speed Racer' is targeted to hit the screens May 2008, shooting will officially start in June 2007. At the conclusion of his world tour Rain will then start filming.

Rain's Hollywood debut movie ' Speed Racer's producer Joel Silver discussed reasons why he invited Rain to act.

In the beginning of this year, Joel Silver arrived in South Korea to obtain all of Rain's concert DVDs, and soap operas and movie material which Rain has been involved in. Shortly after the invitation to act in 'Speed Racer' was extended to Rain, and after going through several exchanges in opinoins everything was finally detemined.

In February during the Berlin Film Festival Rain met with 'Speed Racer' directors the Wachowski Brothers for the first time, and experienced before hand the simulated vehicle race scene.

Rain Cast in Hollywood Film

Korean singer-actor Rain will take part in "Speed Racer," a new film by Andy and Larry Wachowski of "The Matrix" fame. Rain will play a talented rookie car racer who struggles to save his family business. He will join the filming in Berlin for two months after he finishes his world tour in June.

Rain's agent said that Rain personally visited Berlin in April to meet with the Wachowski brothers. At the meeting, the directors of the Matrix series showed Rain some materials for the film and Rain was reportedly very impressed with its ingenuity and techniques.

"Speed Racer" is based on a popular Japanese animation titled "Mach Go Go." The animation has been aired in the U.S. as well.

The May 31st press briefing of the film is expected to be attended by more than 100 media outlets worldwide, as well as Joel Silver, the producer of the Matrix series, and a number of big Hollywood celebrities.

Rain said that he considers himself a novice actor since this is his debut film in Hollywood, and that he will take one step at a time.


Rain to Perform at Prestigious Tokyo Dome

In yet another confirmation of his stature as an international star, Rain is scheduled to be the first Korean singer to hold a concert at Japan's Tokyo Dome stadium. The pop sensation traveled to Japan on Wednesday, two days after returning from last week’s successful performance in Australia, and announced his plans to perform at the Tokyo Dome at an official press conference.

Star M Entertainment, which is promoting Rain's world tour, recently agreed to bring the "Rain's Coming" tour to the Tokyo Dome on May 25. The Dome has hosted the world's top talents, such as Mariah Carey, the Rolling Stones, and Beyonce. The Dome, which is also the home of the Yomiuri Giants and Korean slugger Lee Seung-yeop, is the ultimate dream of many Japanese performers, but only top-drawer local acts have ascended its stage, including Ayumi Hamasaki, Glay, and SMAP.

Star M Entertainment announced the news in Japan with Rain and said, "With Japan as the axis, Rain spread the wave to Southeast Asia. Now he's reconfirming his stature with the concert at the Tokyo Dome."

The performance at the Tokyo Dome means Rain is one step further from being just an Asian celebrity and one step closer to being a world star. The Dome can hold up to 42,000 people but it requires a minimum of 35,000 tickets to be sold. Only top-selling performers attempt to play there. Among Korean celebrities, Lee Byung-heon held a fan meeting at the Dome last June with 42,000 guests. The Japanese press at the time made a great fuss, calling it the biggest event in the history of the "Korean Wave."

Lingering rumors say that Star M Entertainment was worried about bringing Rain's tour to the Dome, which would mean just once performance there. Rain, however, decided to go ahead with the idea, believing himself to be "Asia's singer" and eager to be the first Korean singer to perform at the fabled stadium. It is said that the concert promoter's Japanese partner UAE strongly pushed for the concert at the massive stadium.

Jihoon took the 7.30pm flight towards LA yesterday (17th June).

He will be there 2 weeks in advance of his concert for preparation as well as publicity activities and meetups with the media.

After the concert on the 30th, he will fly towards Berlin on 1st July to commence filming for "Speed Racer".

FIlming begins formally on the 3rd July. He will be in Berlin in July and August, and is estimated to return to Korea end August.

Jihoon will be spending his 25th birthday in the US.

Presently before the court is Rain Corporation’s (“Plaintiff�) Motion for Preliminary Injunction (# 121). Defendants JYP Entertainment, Ltd., Ji-Hoon Jung a/k/a Rain (“Jung�), and Star Entertainment (collectively, “Defendants�) have filed a Response (# 19), and Plaintiff replied
(# 35).

I. Factual Background
This is a trademark and unfair competition action arising from Jung’s use of the word “Rain� to identify himself. Plaintiff is a Nevada corporation in the business of producing and performing musical events featuring its Beatles tribute band called “Rain.� Plaintiff has used the mark “Rain� since 1975 to identify its musical band and services. Plaintiff registered the mark “Rain� for entertainment services with the United States Patent and Trademark Office in 1988. Plaintiff has performed in approximately thirty states, most Canadian provinces, Jamaica and on international cruise ships.

Defendant Jung is a Korean singer, dancer, model, and actor. In Korea, throughout Asia, and among Asian-American fans in the United States, Jung is primarily known as “Rain.� Jung adopted the Korean name “Bi� (in Korean script), a Korean word that means “rain,� as his stage name. Since 2004, Jung has starred in several television shows broadcast throughout the world via satellite, cable, and availability on DVD. Jung began performing in the United States in February of 2004. In February, 2006, Jung held his first solo concert in the United States at Madison Square Garden. Jung has recently commenced a tour of the United States as part of his 2006-2007 world tour that began in Korea in October, 2006.

As a result of Jung’s use of the term “Rain,� Plaintiff filed this action. At this time, Plaintiff is seeking a preliminary injunction preventing Defendants from using the “Rain� mark, or any confusingly similar variation thereof, in conjunction with the sale, offer for sale, promotion, advertising, or provision of any goods or services in the United States.

II. Legal Standard
The Ninth Circuit uses two alternative tests to determine whether a preliminary injunction should issue. According to the “traditional test,� the equitable criteria for granting preliminary
injunctive relief are: (1) a strong likelihood of success on the merits; (2) the possibility of
irreparable injury to the plaintiffs if injunctive relief is not granted; (3) a balance of hardships
favoring the plaintiffs; and (4) advancement of the public interest. Textile Unlimited, Inc. v.
A..BMH & Co., Inc., 240 F.3d 781, 786 (9th Cir.2001) (citing Los Angeles Mem'l Coliseum
Comm'n v. Nat'l Football League, 634 F.2d 1197, 1200 (9th Cir.1980)). In the alternative, the
Ninth Circuit uses a “sliding scale� or balancing test where injunctive relief is available to a party who demonstrates either: (1) a combination of probable success on the merits and the possibility of irreparable harm; or (2) that serious questions are raised and the balance of hardships tips in its favor. A & M Records, Inc. v. Napster, Inc., 239 F.3d 1004, 1013 (9th Cir.2001) (citing Prudential Real Estate Affiliates, Inc. v. PPR Realty, Inc., 204 F.3d 867, 874 (9th Cir.2000)).

III. Discussion
In its complaint, Plaintiff asserts causes of action for trademark infringement pursuant to 15
U.S.C. § 1114(a), unfair competition pursuant to 15 U.S.C. § 1125(a), and common law unfair competition and trademark infringement. The test for trademark infringement and unfair
competition claims is whether the alleged infringer’s use of a mark is likely to cause confusion. M2 Software, Inc. v. Madacy Entm’t, 421 F.3d 1073, 1080 (9th Cir. 2005) (citing Cleary v. News Corp., 30 F.3d 1255, 1262-63 (9th Cir. 1994)). “The test for likelihood of confusion is whether a ‘reasonably prudent consumer’ in the market place is likely to be confused as to the origin of the good or service bearing one of the marks.� Dreamwerks Prod. Group, Inc. v. SKG Studio, 142 F.3d 1127, 1129 (9th Cir. 1998) (footnote omitted). In determining whether there is a likelihood of confusion, the Ninth Circuit has looked to the following eight non-exclusive factors: strength of the mark, proximity of the goods, similarity of the marks, evidence of actual confusion, marketing channels used, types of goods and the degree of care likely to be exercised by the purchaser, defendant’s intent in selecting the mark, and likelihood of expansion of the product lines. AMF Inc. v. Sleekcraft Boats, 599 F.2d 341, 348-49 (9th Cir. 1979) (citing Sleeper Lounge Co. v. Bell Mfg. Co., 253 F.2d 720, 722 (9th Cir. 1958)). However, this list of factors is not a “score-card� and the relative importance of each factor is case specific. Thane Int’l, Inc. v. Trek Bicycle Corp., 305
F.3d 894, 901 (9th Cir. 2002). The likelihood of confusion inquiry is inherently factual and usually requires a full record. Id. at 902; Clicks Billiards, Inc. v. Sixshooters, Inc., 251 F.3d 1252, 1265 (9th Cir. 2001).

In the case at bar, the court has carefully considered the parties points and authorities along
with the evidence presented and concludes that a preliminary injunction is not warranted. The court’s preliminary analysis of the Sleekcraft factors indicates that some factors favor Plaintiff while others favor Defendants. Although Plaintiff has presented sufficient evidence to the court to demonstrate that this case raises serious questions, there is insufficient evidence to demonstrate a strong likelihood of success on the merits or that the balance of hardships tips in Plaintiff’s favor. The court reiterates, however, that the likelihood of confusion inquiry is a factual inquiry that generally requires a full record. Thane Int’l, Inc., 305 F.3d at 902. Based on the record currently before the court, it appears that the question of whether Jung’s use of the term “rain� is likely to cause confusion is ultimately a question of fact that can only be determined by a jury.

With regard to the injury asserted by Plaintiff, Plaintiff argues that Defendants use of the word “rain� in the United States will destroy its hard work and investment because it will be forced to explain to the public and music venues that Plaintiff is not the Korean “Rain.� Other than speculation, Plaintiff has provided no evidence that its hard work and investment will be destroyed. Moreover, the prevailing party in a trademark infringement action is entitled, subject to the principles of equity, to recover (1) defendant’s profits, (2) any damages sustained by the plaintiff, and (3) the costs of the action. 15 U.S.C. § 1117(a). Hence, the harm Plaintiff seeks to avoid is compensable to the extent Plaintiff is successful in this litigation.

Similarly, the court finds that in assessing the need for a preliminary injunction, the balance
of hardships favors Jung. If Plaintiff ultimately prevails in this action, the harm it will suffer
should no injunction issue is its loss of control over the use of the mark “Rain.� See Int’l Kennel Club of Chicago, Inc. v. Mighty Star, Inc., 846 F.2d 1079, 1091 (7th Cir. 1988) (citing James Burrough, Ltd. v. Sign of Beefeater, Inc., 540 F.2d 266, 276 (7th Cir. 1976)). Beyond this, Plaintiff has yet to provide evidence indicating that it will suffer any actual harm. Jung, on the other hand, is currently beginning the United States portion of his 2006-2007 World Tour. Should an injunction issue, Jung will likely incur substantial costs in communicating the name change effectively. See (Decl. of Sangbong Byun ¶ 13.) Defendants have invested more than three million dollars in the United States portion of Jung’s world tour. Id. As part of this promotion, Defendants have prepared concert-related merchandise, such as t-shirts, hats and phone straps that would have to be withdrawn from the marketplace should an injunction issue. Id. Finally, it is certainly possible that an injunction would confuse Jung’s fans as to whether he is actually performing and cause those fans to return tickets or decline to attend Jung’s concerts.

In short, the limited evidence before the court fails to show that Plaintiff has a strong
likelihood of success on the merits. Furthermore, there is insufficient evidence of irreparable harm should an injunction not issue. Nonetheless, Plaintiff has raised serious questions with respect to trademark infringement that will likely need to be decided by a jury. Despite the questions that have been raised, an injunction is not appropriate because the evidence before the court at this stage indicates that the balance of hardships favors Defendants.

IT IS THEREFORE ORDERED that Plaintiff’s Motion for Preliminary Injunction (# 12) is
hereby DENIED.

IT IS SO ORDERED.

He is known as Korea's Justin Timberlake.

Last year, Time magazine called him the second most influential artist in the world.

This year, he was named one of People magazine's Most Beautiful people. Even Diddy is a fan.

Now, the international superstar who goes by the name of Rain is bringing his high-energy musical concert tour to Southern California this Saturday for one night only.

"Hi, this is Ji-Hoon. I'm happy to be in L.A. See you at my concert. Thank you," he said.

Beyond those words, the 25-year-old performer wasn't comfortable doing the interview in English.

However, learning more of our language may be in his future.

"I was very surprised to find that I had a lot of fans in the U.S. and it surprised me a lot to see that my fan base has expanded into the American market," Rain said, through an interpreter.

"Instead of showing what's on the outer of my body, what I want to do is show my fans at the Staples Center concert, is to show my inner feelings and to show about who I really am," Rain said, through an interpreter.

He'll show fans that this Saturday at Staples Center.

And next month, he'll start filming the live action big screen version of the old cartoon series, "Speed Racer."

"From now on, I'd like to express a clear standpoint."

Regarding the problems come from Hawaii concert, Rain is expected to express his standpoint officially. A spokesman of Rain told Edaily SPN in the telephone interview on June 26 morning, "Regarding the postponement of concert as well as the rumours, Rain is very sad." "Considering other people, Rain kept silence for some time. But if the rumours are still spreading like now, it's time for us to make a clear stand."

In particular, Rain felt unfair and he was very upset due to the name 'liar' stamped on him because of the concert postponement. He told others about his bad mood.

World star RAIN is ready to protest against the accusal of fraud by the local producers from Hawaii, due to the cancellation of Hawaii concert. The accusal led to Rain's defamation.

On June 26, StarM made their standpoint in written form "We will settle the defamation issues with Click Entertainment, the domestic producer in the court." It was StarM's response to the accusal of fraud by Click Entertainment, in which Rain, StarM and JYPE are being sued.

The main organiser of Rain's world tour, StarM said, "Rain visited New York and Atlanta to promote his world tour. Just right after his Bangkok trip, he went to USA ambassy for the visa. He's doing all these with sincere. As all the USA world tour are planned by StarM, Rain has no responsibility at all. Therefore, the accusal of fraud shows that they don't even show a basic manner and respect to an artist."

Although StarM officially handed over the copyright (worth 2.25 billion) of USA world tour to Revolution Entertainment, they only received 450 million from Revolution on Feb 20. The contract is supposed to end on May 24 but they didn't receive the remaining payment.

On the other hand, Rain will carry on his Los Angeles concert on June 30 as planned.

Singer Rain cried and looked around forlornly when LA concert was cancelled.

Rain, who has been preparing whole-heartedly for the LA concert, couldn't help but break down in tears when the concert was cancelled on the day of performance.

According to Star M, which has been preparing for the Rain LA concert, after hearing about the cancellation, Rain insisted on going for the performance even if the stage is incomplete.

Rain Creates a Masterpiece for All Time, May 24, 2007


Rain, also called "Bi" in native Korea, is a 25 year old supermodel who became an R&B singer. Now, South Korea has of late been a hot spot for some of the most fantastic music (even better than most US R&B/Hip-hop releases), and this particular album is noted as genre-making.

In case you have heard about Rain through Time Magazine (he was voted No.1 of the most influential people in the world in 2007), but don't know of his music, heres a lowdown - he sounds like Maxwell + Justin Timberlake + Robin Thicke all filtered through the production of Timbaland. In fact, his music exactly sounds like that. In this particular case, it's a great thing, because this CD features beats and rhythms not heard since 1996 when Timbaland collaborated with Aaliyah on her "One in a Million" CD. Its just that rock solid.

The prime standouts here are the opening interlude (a symphony even!) and the lead single "I'm Coming". Other than the sexual innuendo (which Rain exploits to full extent on his histrionic stage shows - even if you don't speak Korean you should watch those), the song is a perfect amalgamation of tight beats with some gorgeous melody, complete with a singalong chorus sung by some `fierce' girls. All in all, the effect is stunning.

Lets be honest - not many of us speak Korean. I most certainly don't, but I am open to the notion of world music artists. That said, I would rate this album higher than Justin Timberlake's latest, only because Rain seems totally involved in the intricate art of music production, and the entire running time of this marvelous CD proves that. Not one track is filler, and when I start preferring a foreign language album to one in my own native tongue, its time to sit up and take notice.

Also, I am not much of an experimental listener these days. Most of the music I listen to is of the Tori Amos/Nine Inch Nails variety. And to add to that, I'm pretty picky. So for me to not only notice this album, but to endorse it by writing a review on it is something indeed. I would say, despite the sticker price, go ahead and get this. Its so much more listenable than whats clogging the airwaves. If you want a CD that you'll listen to all the way through and tap your feet and remember the choruses at the end of it, you can't do better than this.

Also, if this CD sparks your interest in Rain (As it did for me), you might want to check out a TV Show from Korea called "Full House" which marked his debut as an actor (though I think it lists him by his real name - Jeong Hi Joon). Rain is also called "Bi" in many forms of multimedia, so when you're doing a search for him, make sure to include these terms. Also check out his third album - I did, and it rocks!

What I like about Rain at the end of it, is that even though he is exceptionally beautiful and physically blessed (he's the face of Giordano), he doesn't stick with his looks but goes ahead and makes some amazing music. Discovering Rain also made me discover the person considered his `rival' in South Korea - a guy called Se7en. Se7en has this awesome album called "24/7" which is another unique and truly revolutionary CD (get that one blindly too).

Five Stars. Recommended without any reservations.

Great Korean Artist with a meandering JPop Debut, June 5, 2007


I discovered Se7en in 2005 when I happened to come across his third album (24/7) - one that still finds repeat plays on my Ipod - and I dont even speak Korean! Granted, Se7en's unique voice alone is worth the full-price on any CD he puts out, which is probably why I made a wise decision when I decided to download his first Japanese album before actually buying it off the Web. Boy am I glad I did that.

As an avid listener to male and female Jpop (Ken Hirai being my favorite), this albun struck me as oddly lifeless, which is weird because Se7en is known for being especially energetic and playful during his studio sessions. Perhaps this is because Se7en only speaks Korean in real life and doesn't know a word of actual Japanese (which would explain his weird pronunciation - evident even to non-native speakers). This is a pity, because Se7en is perhaps the most blessed of all the KPop singers (vocally even better than Rain, even though Rain has better stage presence).

The best track here is "Hikari" (with an equally lovable video), and this is followed closely by "Start Line". Both are rather pretty and melodious (though meandering and plodding at the same time), but they are just so, so average, that I am afraid no ones going to remember this a year from now. When a stunning and stupendous ballad such as "Aika" by Ken Hirai is already forgotten by the general public, there is no chance for an album like "First Se7en".

I liked Rain's Japanese debut "Eternal Rain" much more than this. Now that wasn't a perfect album either, but at least it was partially coherent. This album on the other hand is a desperate effort to get both the Japanese sound and feel - abandoning all of Se7en's actual roots and personality in the process. Being in his early twenties, Se7en hasn't got enough personality to pull off a foreign language record at this stage. To be fair, he is definitely the best looking man in the Korean music industry right now, and his dance moves are up there with the best (again, bettered only by Rain), but I guess at the end of it the fact remains that even an exceptionally stunning face cannot revive a weak and insipid album.

There were two things I liked about this debut Japanese album by Se7en : 1) his voice (as gifted as ever), and 2) the fact that the record was made by Se7en. Other than this, the melodies are nothing to write home about.

I would recommend downloading a few tracks from this CD before actually deciding to buy it. I haven't bought it, but have the whole thing on my Ipod anyway (with very few plays, I might add). Get it if you're a rabid Se7en fan, but if you're into male Korean Pop, I would suggest getting works by either Rain, Kangta or the criminally underrated singer Tei (especially his debut CD "The First Journey")

In this particular case, it's a great thing, because this CD features beats and rhythms not heard since 1996 when Timbaland collaborated with Aaliyah on her "One in a Million" CD. Its just that rock solid.

The prime standouts here are the opening interlude (a symphony even!) and the lead single "I'm Coming". Other than the sexual innuendo (which Rain exploits to full extent on his histrionic stage shows - even if you don't speak Korean you should watch those), the song is a perfect amalgamation of tight beats with some gorgeous melody, complete with a singalong chorus sung by some `fierce' girls. All in all, the effect is stunning.

Lets be honest - not many of us speak Korean. I most certainly don't, but I am open to the notion of world music artists. That said, I would rate this album higher than Justin Timberlake's latest, only because Rain seems totally involved in the intricate art of music production, and the entire running time of this marvelous CD proves that. Not one track is filler, and when I start preferring a foreign language album to one in my own native tongue, its time to sit up and take notice.

Also, I am not much of an experimental listener these days. Most of the music I listen to is of the Tori Amos/Nine Inch Nails variety. And to add to that, I'm pretty picky. So for me to not only notice this album, but to endorse it by writing a review on it is something indeed. I would say, despite the sticker price, go ahead and get this. Its so much more listenable than whats clogging the airwaves. If you want a CD that you'll listen to all the way through and tap your feet and remember the choruses at the end of it, you can't do better than this.

Also, if this CD sparks your interest in Rain (As it did for me), you might want to check out a TV Show from Korea called "Full House" which marked his debut as an actor (though I think it lists him by his real name - Jeong Hi Joon). Rain is also called "Bi" in many forms of multimedia, so when you're doing a search for him, make sure to include these terms. Also check out his third album - I did, and it rocks!

What I like about Rain at the end of it, is that even though he is exceptionally beautiful and physically blessed (he's the face of Giordano), he doesn't stick with his looks but goes ahead and makes some amazing music..."(cut of unrelated stuff)

LOS ANGELES, July 1 (Yonhap) -- A concert in Los Angeles by South Korean pop singer Rain was abruptly canceled about two hours before his performance, the singer's Seoul-based producer said Sunday.

Rain was to perform in Staples Center (http://www.tsinoy.com/forum/newreply.php#), downtown L.A., Saturday evening as part of of his U.S. tour.

The concert, however, was canceled because the performance center refused to allow in stage equipment from South Korea, Star M Entertainment (http://www.tsinoy.com/forum/newreply.php#) Co. said.

The city and center authorities banned the use of the Korean equipment, mostly electrical, citing the city's electricity and fire-fighting rules, it added.

"We transported 20 tons of stage equipment from South Korea after a confirmation from the concert's L.A. promoter V2B Global Co. that we could use the equipment on stage," a company spokesman said. "Everything came to nothing with the city authorities' ban."
The abrupt cancelation triggered strong protests from thousands of Korean and Asian Rain fans, who came to the concert not knowing it had been canceled.

It also dealt another blow to Rain whose earlier performances in Honolulu, San Francisco, Atlanta, New York and San Jose, California, had all been called off because of a legal challenge from Nevada-based record company Rain Corp.

The company claimed the singer cannot use his stage name because it holds the copyright of a Beatles tribute band of the same name.

"We were unable to press for the concert even without basic stage equipment, although Rain showed his intent to perform if he could sing a song," Star M said in a statement. "We're very sorry for the fans who might have traveled a long way to see the concert."

Representatives for V2B Global could not be immediately reached for comment.

South Korean pop superstar Rain blamed local concert promoter V2B Global for technical difficulties that resulted in the cancellation of his performance Saturday night at Staples Center — the last in a string of planned U.S. shows in the singer-dancer-actor's "Rain's Coming" world tour that failed to go on as scheduled.



But viewed another way, the show's last-minute cancellation can be partially attributed to a breakdown of the K-pop phenom's celebrity industrial complex. Miscommunication between his various American tour promoters, as well as Rain's recent changeover from his powerful talent manager, Park Jin Young, to a new manager accounted for at least some of the confusion that led to the technical trouble that stopped the show.



The missed concert — for which 77% of available tickets were sold, according to Ticketmaster— could push back his efforts to establish his pop stardom in America by as much as two years.



"The local promoter didn't set up everything," Rain, whose real name is Jung Ji-Hoon, said through an interpreter Sunday. "When I came to the venue, the LED screen couldn't be set up. I have rain falling in the concert — that couldn't work. The stage wasn't set up, there were no lights, no sound. I wanted to do a great show. But yesterday, I couldn't get on stage."



V2B's Chief Executive Andy Kim, however, tells a very different story, insisting the tour's original promoter, StarM, pulled the plug on the show after discovering the production would not be able to use Rain's massive Korean-made LED screen — a central component of his stage show— because it didn't conform to American electrical standards.



"It was a safety issue on the equipment they provided," Kim said. "But the real reason the concert was canceled is the Korean team didn't move quickly enough to make an alternative plan.



"They kicked me, the local promoter, out of meetings they were having with management," he added. "Then at 5:30 [Saturday], Staples wants me to approve a press release saying the concert has been canceled. StarM didn't consult me. I didn't know until I saw the press release."



Rain, 25, part of the globally popular "Korean Wave" movement and often referred to as "the Justin Timberlakeof Asia," said he felt sad and angry about disappointing fans, some of whom had traveled from Tokyo, Hong Kong and Seoul for the performance.



"I'm feeling ridiculous about the situation," said Rain. "I came here [to Los Angeles] two weeks before the concert, prepared everything and had a press conference. Then the stage wasn't set up. I couldn't even sing."



The cancellation comes as the capper on what the Korea Times called "perhaps the most ambitious and expensive world concert tour by any Korean artist" and on the heels of postponed Rain concerts last month in Honolulu, New York, Atlanta and San Francisco because, Kim said, tour organizers hadn't anticipated the difficulties of transporting the singer's 28 18-wheel trucks worth of stage rigging and 96-person entourage from Asia.



The "Rain's Coming" tour — and specifically, the Staples Center gig — was Rain's last professional attachment to JYP Entertainment, the management firm owned by his former manager, Park, a former pop superstar in his own right who Rain let go in May. (His new manager, Dong Won Cho, quit JYP to work for Rain.) JYP sold the rights to the American tour stops to another Korean firm, Revolution Entertainment, which in turn parceled them out to promoters including Click Entertainment in Hawaii and V2B Global. In January 2006, JYP oversaw Rain's performances in New York and Las Vegas, which went off without a hitch.



On Saturday, StarM, the tour's original promoter, put out a new release that explained the technical concerns that it said stopped the concert and accused V2B Global of financial mismanagement.



"Literally, the stage structure wasn't set up until one and a half hours before the show," the statement reads. "Moreover, it was ordered that none of the electronically related tour equipment (LED screen, conveyor belt, stage setting generator, special effects pump, etc.) brought from Korea could be used because of the Staples Center provision based on the electronics security and fire services act."



It continued: "The fundamental problem was the local promoter V2B Global's financial status. The local production team wasn't paid on time …."



Kim denies the allegations, countering, "We paid cash to everyone at the show."



At 6:30 p.m. Saturday, just an hour and a half before show time, notices that the concert had been canceled went up at Staples Center. Hundreds of fans lingered at the venue for hours afterward, however, some crying, many chanting Rain's name and all waiting for any word of what prevented the singer from taking the stage.



"I couldn't believe it. I had been looking forward to it for so long," said Michael Ryan, 17, who drove from San Diego for the concert. "It was like waiting all year for Christmas and then not getting anything."



At around 12:45 Sunday morning, the singer met with some 200 fans who had flown in from as far away as Thailand, Canada, Japan and Vietnam in the restaurant of the Wilshire Grand Hotel to personally apologize. "He wanted to show fans how much he cared but you could see he was very devastated," said Jay Yarbrough, 40, from Pocono, Pa. "People were crying. They cared more about Rain being upset than about missing the concert."



Rain said he hoped to record an English language album in the next year but acknowledged that it could take up to two years to get that project off the ground. And it will be at least two years before he can return to perform in the United States. Nonetheless, he remained sanguine about making good on his desire to become the first Asian superstar to cross over to an American audience. "I learned a lot of things from this situation," Rain said. "I'm angry and sad but it's not going to slow me down. What I'm going to do is make it perfect with the American promoters and do it step by step next time."



Dismissing the notion he was disappointed about having to forestall his dream of becoming a "worldwide superstar," the singer pointed out his debut Hollywood film role in the Wachowski brothers' big-budget action-adventure tent pole film "Speed Racer" will put him in the American limelight inside of a year (the movie is set for release in May 2008).



"I don't worry about it," he said. "I'm shooting a film. I'm going to show my character in that film. I don't feel a failure."

MBC's <PD Handbook> (direct translation of name of show) will be broadcasted on the 17th, featuring the true story behind the cancellation of Rain's American world tour concerts. Rain's LA concert was scheduled to be held on June 30th but was cancelled an hour and a half prior to the start time.

Regarding the sponsors and local promoters for the concert they appear to mutually shake off any responsibilities and have different viewpoints. In this broadcast there will be the rarely seen interviews with the director of the LA concert, stage-related personnel, stage production, illumination, all parties related to the LA concert and fans--their collection of testimonies, emails, pictures, clips and other evident materials; showing the happenings prior to the concert and the reasons why the concert had not choice but to be cancelled.

According to <PD's Handbook>, up to the point of the cancellation, Rain was not able to do a single thing. Initially Atlanta, New York and so on were planned concert stops but ended up being postponed. Only the LA performance would appear to be a certain success, making him truly a world star singer. But the unexpected setback of the cancellation was not the result that fans and other people had dreamed for.

During the time of the LA concert, someone (can't translate this part out) expressed that, "even after knowing the fact that he could not perform, Rain diligently wanted to continue with the performance. He really wanted to perform." Two days prior to the cancellation of the LA concert, there were business reports highlighting "Rain's Failures". It wasn't that easy for Rain (Jung Jihoon) to expand his career in foreign markets, now people sigh over his sad experience.

Star M started taking responsibility for everything with regards to Rain's World Concert Tour beginning 13th October. Rain's concerts in Japan, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Vietnam and Australia etc were all handled by this company. However, Rain's concerts in Canada, China, Hawaii and LA etc were cancelled due to all kinds of reasons. In that way, Rain's first World Concert Tour came to a dishonourable ending amidst controversy and quarrels.


Lee In Gwang, representative of Star M expressed this during the press conference, "As the organiser, we have a duty to see that the activities develop smoothly from start to end. However, we did not fulfil this duty. The World Concert Tour was unable to come to a beautiful conclusion, and we feel deeply responsible for this."


Following this, Lee also said, "Due to this incident, Rain was rebuked by many. Because of us, a respected artiste was inflicted with unnecessary hurt. As the concert organiser, we feel morally responsible for this." At the press conference, the representative of the Canada tour producer had a heated debate with the Star M representative, Lee.


Yesterday, "PD Handbook" of MBC TV station pointed out that the concert failure was due to Star M's mismanagement. With reference to this, Lee In Gwang did not make an official response, but remained that the Hawaii concert was forced to cancel because of the lawsuit regarding the use of the name "Rain".


Following that, Lee apologised to Rain, "Rain, who was only notified at 4pm that day, came to the stadium and kept telling us he hopes to be able to go on with the performance. At that time, he was already in tears. We didn't know how to explain the entire issue to him. When he realised there was no way the concert could go on, he cried and apologised to the 100 odd crew members there. The situation was hard to bear." In May this year, Lee had expressed his wish to sign a contract with Rain while they were in Japan. "With things like that, I think signing him up would be difficult to realise now."


Lee continued, "We will begin to hold press conferences on Rain's World Concert Tour again next month. Regardless of whether this concert is held in a foreign country or in Korea, we will do our best to do a good job organising the concert."

Promoters of Rain's World Tour Speak Up

Pop star Rain is now the target of much scrutiny after his abruptly aborted world tour.

Already well established in the Korean community as part of the hallyu or the Korean Wave movement with numerous fans in Asia, he is currently trying to break into the U.S. market. Click Entertainment, the local promotion company for his canceled Hawaii concert, is currently suing Rain and his Korean promoters, JYP Entertainment, Star M Entertainment and Revolution Entertainment, for racketeering and fraud. Click Entertainment is seeking costs for more than $1 million damages including the $500,000 deposit paid to Revolution and the costs of producing the concert, renting the Aloha Stadium, arranging for equipment and issuing and selling tickets.

To explain their side of the story, Star M Entertainment held a press conference Wednesday. Lee In-kwang, the president of Star M Entertainment, which was in charge of Rain's world tour, said that the L.A. Staples Center concert went wrong because of numerous faults with the stage. He explained that the reason for the cancellation and postponing of the U.S. concerts was due to a combination of the local promoters violating their contract, breach of faith, and legal issues with Rain's name. Lee however acknowledged Star M Entertainment's fault in hiring the wrong local promoters, nevertheless he called the local promoters to account. Lee said, "the reason for canceling the North American concerts was the local promoters' lack of preparation and contract violations."

Rain's "Rain's Coming" world tour opened on Dec. 15, 2006 at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul and was scheduled for the following countries: Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, China, Japan, Taiwan, Australia, United States and Canada. His tour was noted for having talented producers and stage designers (Jamie King and Roy Bennett) who have worked on tours of other famous artists such as Madonna and U2. However, it was a decided failure in America, with the majority of concerts being canceled most notably his LA one which was canceled two hours before scheduled time.

Rain is currently filming his Hollywood debut film, "Speed Racer" in Germany.

During the press conference regarding Rain's concert tour cancellation, Star M representative, Lee In Gwang finally shed tears when making his stand.


Lee In Gwang have this to say during the press conference on 18th July at 2.10pm, "On the LA concert day, Rain when already in tears when he received the call telling him there were problems. He insisted on carrying with the concert no matter what...As the person in charge of this concert, I didn't know how to console him, and I felt very helpless too."


"Rain asked me repeatedly among the 21 songs, how many can he perform. In the end, when the concert was cancelled, he cried very sadly. Instead, he turned around and consoled me and said sorry." As he said this, Lee started crying.

07.19.07 Jang Dong-Gun: "Ji-hoon Do Not Cry!"

After the cancellation of Rain's concert, the saddest person was Jang Dong-Gun.

Because Rain and JDG work and represent Giordano together, they have become closer as a result. When Rain and JDG are together, they are almost like blood brothers. When Rain encounters any stress, JDG is on the front line as his only listening ear. Therefore, the hearsay of Rain wanting to be a part of JDG's company StarM also lingers on faintly.

Because the concert was suddenly announced to be cancelled an hour prior to showtime, Rain was unable to restrain himself from weeping bitterly.

On July 18th, the subsidiary company that is under JDG's company, StarM Planning, held a press conference. That night, JDG together with three of his show business friends - company's senior Kong Jiong-zhen and also his friend of 10 years Han Zai-shuo (direct translation from pinyin, don't know who these people are) accompanied and comforted one another through drinks. On this day JDG went from dining room to 'singing house', drinking continuously until 2 a.m.

This day, JDG sadly expressed, "That Ji-hoon who deeply loves the stage--he has a lot of sadness." The matter of Rain's concert cancellation resembles as JDG's own matter, feeling incomparably sad. One of his representative said, "MBC's coverage of <PD Handbook> as well as other media sources that have expressed accusations against the topic of Rain's concert have created such a negative atmosphere. JDG wouldn't even sing his favourite songs at KTV, just only drinking."

This representative also said, "Regardless of whose fault it is, as like an older brother, JDG feels extremely sorry and sad for Rain. There's the saying, the sun shines after the storm, hope that after all this has past, their friendship will grow one step further."

"You cannot defame our Rain just like that!"

A famous Korean music producer voiced out when being interviewed about his opinion on the cancellation of Rain's LA concert, "If he falls, then it's more difficult for the second and third Rain to stand out!" We can sense the trembles from the producer's voice.

Yi Denglong (pinyin), the music representative from DR music handled Rain's development plan in China since 2004, including other overseas concerts at China, Thailand and other countries in year 2006. But now, he is the third party which is irrelevant to Rain and StarM, the main organiser of Rain's world tour. However, we should treat the comments from a professional music producer as an advice, and Mr Yi has talked about something rare.

"My story may be quite surprising. I would like to tell you about Rain's personality and many Hallyu stars will be involved. 'Where did you go shopping?' 'Did you go for the massage?' These are the common questions among others. But singer Rain, he never wastes his time... His mind is only about the show in 24 hours. Once, it was very late when they reached hotel, but Rain still practiced with his dancers in their room. I can't describe how impressed I was. On the other hand, if it's overseas performance, he himself got ready and came out at 8.30am although the departure time from hotel is 9am. He sat in the empty car waiting for everyone. He is the RAIN who always be prepared earlier than anyone."

Mr Yi also mentioned about the joint concert with Rain in Dec 2004. "It was a hoax, the local promoter suddenly disappeared. Rain didn't get any payment nor air ticket, but he still stood there to perform without receiving a single cent. He said money is not that important and in fact he convinced us to carry on the show. I guess he must cry over this cancellation (LA concert)."

Mr Yi indicated that the major victims in this incident is neither concert promoter nor StarM and his previous agency, but they are RAIN himself, the audience and Hallyu!

"Now the domestic music market is dying, it's hard to find a super star like Rain in short period. Moreover, anti-Hallyu phenomenon is spreading in Asia where they are looking for the replacement to overtake Korean singers. It is a hard time for us now. Therefire, Rain is the hope of Korean music producers, he is the dream of Korean singers and because of him, he is the Hallyu. So you can imagine how tired he is!"

Talking about the disputes in USA, Mr Yi said that Rain did nothing wrong, "If problems occur on the stage, that is singer's fault. However, if the singer is unable to stand on the stage , it's the mistake of production team and organiser as they were not well-prepared."

"Speaking frankly, Rain can't have such large scale tour concerts without the financial support from big company like StarM. Well by right, StarM should be highly appraised. Yet the communication problems with local organisers and even mistakes can occur in local performances. Now, it's not the right time to find out who is the victim or who should be responsible, the key point is: they have to learn how to chance the right chance."

Mr Yi suggested that it would be good if everything goes back to the beginning.

All the passions of Rain should go back to the origin. It will be better that Rain can put in more efforts and time when presenting to the overseas fans, and he should learn to control the commercial elements stamped on him. For those who are looking forward to his success shall keep on supporting him. And so, all the things are clear.

Regarding Korean Air gave up their sponsorship with Rain, Mr Yi was very disappointed. "The sponsorship was much more significant compared to what the government and tourism board have done. It provided a very strong support to Hallyu culture. With the supports from airlines, these singers and artists are able to fly to all corners of the world and form a strong network of Korean culture. If there's a chance, I hope Korean Air can assist Rain again."

Mr Yi still could remember the scene where about 40k audience rushed to see Rain in the performance, the screams and cheers seemed surrounding his ears.

"I was touched and I couldn't hold my tears, that was Rain's charisma and it showed the power of our culture. The world tour has gathered more than 250,000 audience from different countries and now, we should show our support to Rain who is fighting alone and not even has a good sleep. The media, the fans and the organisers should not discuss further about the losses, but they should encourage Rain to go back to his origin and stand up again. He is walking alone on a undeveloped route, it's getting tougher for him. Rain is a friend who doesn't ask for money or anything, he is a friend who will stand up immediately when he feels our warm and kind hearts. So we must do that."

Rain to Make it on His Own? New Office and Good Luck Ritual Held

After Rain’s contract ended with his previous management company, JYP, all eyes were on Rain as he followed another direction with an unknown office somewhere in Cheongdam-dong, Seoul, and has captivated the interests of the entertainment industry as he held a good luck ritual ceremony on the past 20th.

Rumors of large entertainment management companies to spend tens of billions of Korean won on Rain began receiving even more attention when the world began to expect him to create his own entertainment company. Still, the official company name and questions if Rain is to personally participate in the business himself is left to be answered sometime in mid-August.

Of course, Rain’s decision is still not 100% certain. Rain recently explained, “I prepared an office to continue on with my work, temporarily. The good luck ritual was held because business was not going as planned.”

Rain’s contract with JYP ended this May. His presence in a large entertainment company is one to multiply the company’s assets and substantially raise its stock value as well. His world tour management company Star M also stated, “We have intentions of welcoming Rain”. Although the statement grabbed the world’s attention, with the recent cancellation of his concert in LA, the press conference revealed that it would be difficult for them to take in Rain.

Currently, Rain is concentrated on filming a movie by the Wachowski brothers in Berlin, Germany, called ‘Speed Racer’. He is with an English instructor in Berlin, and his managers are known to be in Korea.

Is he going to be an independent temporarily or be tied-up to another management company? RAIN can only be the one who can answer this. I just hope after filming the movie, he can make an announcement about this. It was reported before that after his LA concert supposedly he's going to make a big announcement but we really don't have any idea what that was. I just hope he’ll make the right decision whatever it would be.



I just hope his new manager is taking good care of him. Just wondering why is he not with him in Berlin?

IT is my pleasure to introduce Rain fans to a special edition of KoreAm Journal, a national magazine that covers the Korean American experienced. Established in 1990, KoreAm has interviewed and written about actors(Sandra Oh, Daniel Dae Kim), musicians (Karen O, Joseph Hahn) and athletes (Hines Ward, Se Ri Park), while also delivering hard hitting news stories and features (Hurricane Katrina and Virginia tech).


Now, I am especially excited to offer up an inside look at the man that brought you all out here tonight: Jeong Ji-Hoon, more famously known as Rain.


It’s a momentous occasion for a middle-aged guy like me. Back in the ‘80s, I went to a Michael Jackson concert at The Forum in Los Angeles. He performed hits like “Billie Jean” and “Beat It” and just wowed the audience. He truly was the king of pop.


At that time, I never imagine I’d one day see a Korean artist who could sing and dance like that. Two decades later, enter Rain, better known in Korea as Bi. Voted one of People Magazine’s 100 most beautiful people, the pop star has attracted millions of fans across the world. Time magazine called the Korean heartthrob “the face----and---well-muscled torso-of pop globalism.”


He’s been touted as the Justin Timberlake of Asia, but to me, this guy is the new Michael Jackson. We’ve been trying to get an interview with Rain for the past two years, but his whirlwind schedule, hadn’t been able to pin anything down.


Finally, with the help of Andrew Kim, president of VOI telecommunications, we were able to send managing editor Carina Knoll to Atlanta last month and meet up with Rain for an interview. It was perfect-timing since he is now attempting to become as successful in America as he is in Asia.


Tonight is one of hopefully many concerts Rain will put on in Los Angeles. I wish him the best with his career and am grateful that, once again, KoreAm Journal is able to bring another compelling story to the public

Rain's photoshoot in Spain was recently released and soon it caught the public attention. In these days, the disputes and arguments about concert cancellation bothered him.

Other than his identity as singer, Rain is also catching up pretty fast as an actor and model. A magazine, <Vogue> August issue will disclose a few posters of Rain in branded fashion.

Taking Spain as an exotic foreign background, Rain and the Caucasian model interpreted a wonderful atmosphere. Either in simple suit with tight close jacket and holding the lady model, or standing alone beside the wall like expecting for something, or passing the lady model in smart casual clothes... Rain looks so handsome from every angle.

It is very different from his energetic and powerful image on the stage, Rain in these photos seems to have mild lighting around him, like those lights from Christmas snows.

Lady fans are so impressed and highly appraised Rain's ability to adapt and interpret any costumes perfectly.

Looking at Rain in these posters, perhaps people may have such thought: It's too wasted if he's just a singer. To Rain who is gradually expanding his influence in the world, hope that he can enter into Hollywood movie and show his elegant demeanor!

Season 2 of popular KBS drama 'Full House' is in the process of full-scale production.

Park Chang Shik of Kim Jong Hak Production stated on the 30th, "To make season 2 of 'Full House', writer Jo Jong Hwa is already in a full year's work and at present has successfully completed the script until the 3rd episode. We are also considering oversea locations."

The script and the casting of the main characters will be approached at this latter half of the year and the shooting and broadcasting of the show will happen next year. The director is as yet undecided.

Mr. Park said "The 'Full House' drama in 2004 received great love from many viewers and it was so successful as to receive offers from Chinese and South-eastern Asian countries to broadcast it on their television networks." and "If 'Full House' season 2 is just produced well then there is a high possibility that there will be great success not only in Korea but in Asia." It is yet unknown whether Rain and Song Hae Kyo, the main characters in the first season of this drama will be cast.

The KBS drama 'Full House' that aired in 2004 in August was a modern love story based on a sweet comic story and acted out by Rain (Young Jae) with Song Hae Kyo (Ji Eun) who were received as an extremely beautiful couple.

Two months ago, Rain registered himself as the director in Rainy Entertainment. The chairman of the board is his father. This 'one-man' style enterprise is indeed very eye-catching.

After actor Bae Youngjun, singer Rain is also working on 'one-man style enterprise' and this fact is recently revealed.

The info was verified. Rain changed his registration on June 29 and a share holding company, i.e. Rainy Entertainment was set up and Rain is the director. Based on the exclusive info received by Sportshankok, Rainy Entertainment is an entertainment enterprise which was registered with 50 million Won.

It is predicted that Rain's future planning can be quite close to Bae's one-man enterprise. Bae owns 4.2 million (33.3%) shares of a listed company called Key East and he is the biggest shareholder. The current stock situation is not so well but the daily value is worth up to 568 hundred million.

Well since Rainy Entertainment was setup, will Rain be another Bae Youngjun, who will increase the value of his company by getting it listed in stock market and therefore be another king in music industry? Let's see.
