Rain's new album achieved great sales in taiwan - TW Apple Daily 15.08.2005

Korean dance king, Rain's third album <It's Raining> is enjoying great popularity in taiwan. It has reigned as the champion of the japanese-korean music sales chart for the 5th week in running, breaking the sales record of korean singers in taiwan.

Although Rain did not drop by taiwan to promote <It's Raining>, his album sales still managed to exceed 50 000 copies, making him the top-selling korean singer in taiwan, breaking Boa's record.

Recently, there were rumors of Rain making illicit comments on air a korean radio show, and of him purchasing drugs along with Song Hye Gyo. It's understood that the artiste management agency, which Rain belongs to, is currently considering taking legal action against those rumor-makers.

이로써 7월 일본 도쿄와 오사카에서 열린 비의 첫번째 단독 콘서트, 9월 2-3일 일본 부도칸 앙코르 콘서트를 비롯, 10월 8-9일 홍콩 컨벤션센터에서 열리는 콘서트 ''레이니 데이 인 홍콩(Rainy day in Hongkong)'' 역시 예매시작 10분 만에 매진됐다.
비의 소속사인 JYP엔터테인먼트는 "비의 홍콩 콘서트는 홍콩 공연계에서 사상 처음으로 인터넷 예약만으로 매진된 사례로 꼽혔다"며 "비의 콘서트를 담당하는 K''S 프로덕션에 따르면 홍콩은 전체 좌석의 일부를 현장 판매로 남겨둬야 하는데 그 조차 남지 않아 고액의 암표 거래가 벌써 시작됐다고 한다"고 밝혔다.

As for Rain's 2 concerts to be held in HK in Oct, although there's still more than a month to go before the actual performance, it's understood that requests for the tickets has exceeded the number of tickets allocated for internal sales, and internal sales of the tickets has already sold out. Although it's rumored among fans that there might be an additional night of the concert, it's understood that Rain's schedule is so fully packed that the possibility of this is very low. Hence Rain's fans should start watching out for the actual date on which the tickets will go on public sale. At the same time, many commercial houses have 'knocked on the door', offering Rain sponsorships for his concert - these in the hope of getting concert tickets. They are literally giving money to Rain and the concert organiser, however due to the limited number of tickets, and the fact that the organisers has to take into consideration the public who also wish to watch his concert, hence it has become a case of 'you might not get the tickets even if you have money."

비 소속사 JYP엔터테인먼트의 한 관계자는 "비의 해외일정에 한해 개인경호원이 밀착경호를 하게 된다"며 "이는 비의 신변에 위협을 느껴서 적극적으로 방어하려는 것보다는 비에게 몰려드는 파파라치와 일반 팬들의 우발적 충돌에 대비하기 위한 것"이라고 설명했다.
Bi's agency, JYP Entertainment, said that "a bodyguard has been hired to keep close watch on Bi while he is overseas. This is because we have felt potential personal troubles/dangers -- we're not trying to bother his personal life, but rather protect him from the persistent paparazzi and possible interferences from his enthusiastic fans".

이 관계자에 따르면 비가 그동안 중국과 일본, 홍콩, 태국 등을 방문할 때마다 많은 인파에 밀려 위험한 순간을 맞기도 했었고, 특히 최근에는 홍콩과 대만의 파파라치가 극성을 부려 해외일정에 한해 개인 경호원을 붙이기로 했다.

And with the more recent constant bombardings of the HK and Taiwan paparazzi, hiring a bodyguard seemed like a logical choice.

Bi is returning to the drama scene.
This coming early November, Bi will star in KBS 2TV's miniseries drama, "This Love That I Want to Kill" [scriptwriter Lee Kyung-Hee, producer Kim Kyu-Tae]. The drama will have 16 episodes total. Bi will play the male main lead, Kang Bok-Gu. It will have been one year and two months since his last appearance as an actor in "Full House".
Kang Bok-Gu will be involved in a inevitable love relationship while he works as a fighter F-1 player. His love interest turns out to be his older brother's ex-girlfriend from the past, Eun-Seok, who has now grown up to be a top model. This relationship will have its twists and turns.
Not too long ago, Bi had planned on returning to acting through "Cruel Love" but this endeavor - as well as Bi's acting comeback - was put on hold. This new drama has significance because Lee Kyung-Hee had written "Sangdoo!" - in which Bi debuted - and "MISA". The immense popularity of these dramas has already captured the interest of many people and broadcast stations.
PD Kim Kyu-Tae has recently produced "Blue Skies of Jeju Island", for which he recieved great praise and respect. This combination of Bi, Lee Kyung-Hee, and Kim Kyu-Tae is only furthering the anticipation and interest regarding this drama.
The female lead - the role of Eun-Seok - is still unknown at this time. Casting should, however, wrap up by the end of this week and filming will start next month.

Pop Stars Rain, Shinhwa Team Up for ‘Power’ Concert (2005/08/21)

The two most popular acts in Korea right now, Rain and Shinhwa, shared the stage during ``The Power Concert'' last Saturday.

This exclusive concert was organized by the steel company POSCO as part of its concert series at the POSCO Center in Samsong-dong, southern Seoul.

You probably didn’t hear of tickets going on sale since admission was limited to die-hard fans who entered the online raffle on the POSCO Web site earlier this month.

Thousands reportedly applied online, but only some 800 lucky fans were able to get in. Even a handful of fans from Japan flew over to watch the concert.

With the concert billed as ``Bi Versus Shinhwa,'' fans expected powerful singing, fancy dance moves and lots of charisma from Korea’s hottest heartthrobs.

First on stage was Expression Crew, a breakdancing group composed of DJ, MC, B-boy and Graffiti. Expression Crew has won several breakdancing competitions since it was formed in 2001.

Expression Crew showed off their amazing breakdancing abilities. A member even performed as a human beatbox as other members did individual freestyle breakdancing.

Expression Crew’s performance was highly appreciated but once the boys exited the stage, you could feel a ripple of anticipation as the crowd waited for the concert’s main acts.

Cheers erupted when Rain made his entrance. Wearing all black with sunglasses and a beanie, Rain started with ``Running Away from the Sun,'' one of the hits on his second album.

Rain, who is fast gaining popularity as an actor and pop star in Asia, has again proven that he is not just one of the best singers in K-pop but also one of the best dancers.

The crowd was thrown into a frenzy when Rain mischievously said ``Summer’s almost over, but I’m always hot!’’

He performed his latest hits, ``It’s Raining,’’ ``I Do,'' and earlier hit songs such as ``Evil Man'' and ``Instead of Goodbye.'' It was quite amusing to see female fans of all ages go wild whenever he smiled or winked at the crowd.

After Rain’s performance, the crowd was pumped up for more. Even louder cheers greeted Shinhwa as they entered the stage with their dance hit ``Shooting Star.''

However, there were only five Shinhwa members on stage: Shin Hye-sung, Lee Min-woo, Kim Dong-wan, Andy and Jun Jin.

The group was one member short, and Eric Moon apologized for his absence in a short video shown on the big screen. The group also asked for the crowd’s understanding since Andy apparently had a problem with his throat and could not sing well.

Despite these problems, the five guys managed to charm the audience with songs from their seventh album Brand New, including ``Crazy,'' ``How do I Say,'' ``Angel'' and ``Oh!''

Just as their act was coming to an end, Min-woo teased the crowd by saying ``Tonight, when all of you are lying in your beds, think of us and have sweet dreams,’’ causing the fans to nearly swoon.

In recent months, Shinhwa members have found individual success. Min-woo and Hye-sung have released solo albums, while Jun-jin and Dong-wan are starring in television dramas. Andy is also set to star in a television drama, while Eric is concentrating on his film career.

However, the concert showed Shinhwa can still put on a great performance as a group.

Overall, for a concert featuring Korea’s top acts, ``The Power Concert'' was surprisingly low-key, with not many theatrics or fancy pyrotechnics.

The concert was also a bit too short, with Rain and Shinhwa performing five songs each in just 1 hour, 20 minutes.

Rain – Offered High Price to be PEPSI new ambassador

Korean popular male artiste Rain who swept Asia recently, had gain popularity among both male and female fans.
