The KBS series ¡°Full House¡± has exploded in popularity since it premiered in Thailand June 25 on Channel 7, which is running the series every Saturday and Sunday morning.

The Korea Thailand Communication Center, a firm specializing in Thai tourism and market research, reported on July 27 that ¡°Full House¡± recorded a market share of 56 percent on July 16 and 63 percent on July 17.

Hong Ji-hee, head of the firm¡¯s Bangkok branch, said the series appeals to Thai viewers for its depiction of upbeat emotions and sophisticated production techniques as well as its high-profile cast. Jung Ji Hoon – When Darkness Reigns

To Bi, Rain, has been an imprint to his life during the time he was growing up. His family has been poor to the state where they stayed in an aluminum sheltered home. When he was 17yrs old his mum passed away due to illness, and because of this he regrets the time when he neglected his mum while spending his love and time on dancing. To fulfill his mum’s last wish, he pulled himself together to worked hard to become a remarkable and famous singer. In a short period of 3 years Rains popularity and fame soared with lady luck watching over him.For once there is light in Rain’s life

In the year 2004, filming only Full House and 5 CFs Rain at the age of 23 years old takes home an income of S$7.4 million

01 Because of hardwork comes success

Rain has always had a keen interest in dancing from the very beginning, due to the fact that his father lost his job and the family was very poor his diabetic mum had to choice but to work to support the family. The ignorant Rain continued to pursue his interest in dancing causing him to drift further from his family. Rain’s father came home, but his mother’s condition continued to get worst. When he finally woke u to reality it was already too late. In year 2000 before the passing of his mother, she made him promise her that he will take good care of his sister and that he will be an outstanding singer. Although Rain was very remorseful and in pain, these feelings became the pushing factor to his path for success. And because of that last year KBS Daesang award, while he was receiving his trophy tears started to fall from his eyes after he thanked his mum. From than on when Rain was asked what was his motivating factor, he will always reply saying that it is his mum.

Interview with Rain

YW: Being Asia’s Popular New comer, what do u think is the factor that contribute to your success ?
R : Success is what everybody else is claiming. I do not think that I have succeeded. However with
hard work, success is definite.

YW: As compared to the rest of the new singers, what do you think is your upper hand
R : (After the question has been translated to Rain, he asked what do u mean by upper hand. After the reporter explained clearly what she meant, Rain started to smile and thru out the whole interview it was the only time he smiled. Still picking up on English, Rain replied Thank you. After realizing that he misinterpreted what was said, he put his hand to his chest and said I’m sorry with sincerity. And thru out the whole interview Rain displayed this humble attitude.)

Not to be proud and with continuous practice. I really have to spend a lot of time practicing but I do not find it strenuous, because if you want to succeed you will need to sacrifice a lot of things……

02 I am the Best

According to Rain, his dance practice is a big challenge to the body physics. His daily practice can be as long as 10hrs or more. During the days when he is busy, he will definitely reserve 2 to 3 hrs for his dance practice.

YW: A lot of people describe you as cute and also sexy. Do you have an even better description to characterize yourself ?
R : I will see how the audience view me, and work hard towards this direction. If everybody gauges me as being cute and sexy, than yes I will continue to work hard in this direction.

YW: On the stage you look very lively, are you like that personally?
R : When I am on the stage, I will always think that I am the greatest, and the best. But once off stage I will feel that there are lots of area that needs improvement. As a performer, in order to have the best results I must put in a lot of effort, however on stage I am able to regain and find my confidence.( Are you more an introvert?) With friend that I know and comfortable with I will be very active, but with strangers I will be more quiet.

YW: According to reports your health has all along not been good, is this the reason why you are into weight lifting. How do you maintain balance between exercise and food intake control in order to achieve body robustness?
R : Yes it is because of health and maintaining a good physics that I am into weight lifting. I will do every exercise possible, in terms of food intake I normally eat chicken breast meat, tomatoes and bananas.

03 Do not simply cast Rain and storm

Rain is a name that relates to depression, however he is one who loves the Rain. His original name is Jung Ji Hoon, however this name is very common amongst the celebrities in Korea so it is easy to mixed up. Since he like Rain so much so he choose an easy to remember name. While interviewing Rain, the need to go through an interpreter make me feel like there is a wall between us. However Rain with his facial expression not warm or hot(direct translation ok) answers all the questions post to him. The Rain on stage makes you feel he can command the Rain and Storm any time at his finger tips; And the Rain off stage gives a warm feeling like the calm sky after rain.

YW: In Asia most highest rated Korean drama Full House, the character that you are acting Lee Young Jae is an atrocious, a person who does not know how to express himself and what he feels yet he is stubborn and kind hearted. In real life and in drama what are the similarities and difference in your character?
R : The character in the drama and Rain character is a little similar however on a big scale there are more differences. I may be impatient but when it comes to doing things I am very serious and professional.

YW: Is your mood temperamental like the weather, or is your mood easily influenced by criticizium from the outside world?
R : My name Rain has no relation to this. In times of turmoil, I am the sort that faces things calmly.

(During the Hong Kong showcase, while Rain was performing the headset he was using was faulty even the mike that was passed to him did not save the situation. You can only notice his calm yet frustrated facial expression. Believe that the only thing that could really make him unhappy would be when he encounters difficulties in his work.

YW: When you are moody what would you normally do to cheer yourself up?
R : Correct. Some things cannot be forced. Listen to music; watch a movie will make my mood better.

04 Breaking into Singapore

As Korean Michael Jackson, Rain has always idolized MJ and looks upon him as a role model, continuously work hard to perform on stage. However after the first concert performed at Japan last year, Rain seems to have a lot of reservations on future plans. He feels that when a person has a foresight of his future, he tends to become more proud and once accomplishing them he becomes arrogant. Due to this Rain is used to make small goals so that he will be realistic and do his best in the entire path he undertakes. Now his next goal is to meet fans in Singapore.

YW: You are now 23 yrs old and currently studying your University academic. Being so young and apart from working you need to concentrate on your studies, living the kind of life a normal under graduate can hardly imagine, how do you overcome pressure?
R : I definitely have pressure. I feel we need to learn to get use to it. I believe everybody can see this young lad’s hard work, in terms of firm stand on culture (shld be music culture), US is very strong. I am still very young, I want to establish my position in Asia. I wish to be a representive of Asia I would like to break through the US market and challenge their celebrities

YW: Lately do you have any craze over hobbies or obsession over anything?
R : Yes, crazy over Hong Kong. If I intend to visit a place, I will do my homework to understand what is going on in that country. (Rain knows that the reporter is from Singapore, he really know what to say) In future when I go to Singapore I will also do my homework to understand Singapore. Actually now I really want to visit Singapore and my company is making contacts. If there is a chance and time I would like to meet the fans in Singapore. I know that Singapore is a very beautiful garden country. I would like to introduce my album to the friends in Singapore

YW: What is your next goal?
R : (Rain is tight lipped about this, Korea can consider to allow Rain to become the ambassador in terms of tourism for Singaporeans) My next goal is to come to Singapore to meet the Singaporean Fans and perform a concert here, hopping that they will give me their utmost support to my 2 previous drama Sang Doo and Full House

▶ 콘서트 하는데 머리 손질할 시간이 없었다. 원래 모자를 쓰는데 콘서트에서 모자쓰면 예의없는 것 같아서 또, 땀을 많이 흘리기 때문에 지금 헤어스타일을 고수했다.
- You changed your hairstyle; does this have anything to do with any mental changes you're undergoing?
▶ When I have a lot of concerts, there's little time to work on my hair. Usually I wear hats, but I sort of think that wearing a hat during a concert is somewhat rude. I sweat a lot so I had to pat my hair down.

- 안색이 안좋은 것 같은데 긴장되는가?
▶ 긴장된건 아니고 굉장히 놀고 싶다. 지금 자제하는 이유는 공연준비 때문에 몇 시간 못 자서 힘이 없는 것 같은데 빨리 공연을 해서 재미있게 놀고 싶다.
- You look a little pale; are you nervous?
▶ I'm not nervous, but I really want some rest. Because I've been preparing for these performances, I haven't been able to sleep too much so I think I'm losing energy. Once that's done, I want to have a good time and play/rest.

- 가수에 대해서 어떻게 생각하는가?
▶ 무대위에 서 있다는 점 자체가 모든 가수들에게는 영광인 것 같다. 가수에게 주어지는 3분 몇 초가 무대에서 가장 자유스러운 시간이고, 이런 무대를 어릴 때부터 꿈꿔왔다.
- What do you think about being a musician?
▶ The best thing for any musician is probably those moments when you're standing on stage. For any musician, including myself, those three minutes and odd number of seconds when I'm on stage is the most flexible time of my life; from an early age, I've dreamt of these moments.

Musician, Bi, is considering taking part in a different drama besides the last drama he was considering, "Cruel Love" (which has now been postponed).
His representatives at JYP Entertainement sat down and talked with Star News saying that "Sooner or later, Bi plans on taking part in another drama. He is currently reading over a handful of synopses."

Korean pop sensation Rain has won yet another MTV Asia award this time in Beijing.
On Sunday, Rain received the prize for the "Best Korean Singer" in this year's "CCTV-MTV Mandarin Music Honors".
The latest award gives Rain an MTV Asia Grand Slam, meaning he's won a series of awards in the Asian countries that broadcast MTV Asia.
In May, Rain, known as "Bi" in Korea, was a recipient of the "Video Music Awards Japan", after winning the "Favorite Artist of Korea" in Thailand in February.
Since his debut in 2002, Rain has been one of the most popular Korean artistes in Asia.

Achieving a grand slam in Asia by sweeping every recent MTV Asia awards, Rain(23) landed on the Japan Archipelago and resumed to strengthen his position as an Asian star.

30일 오후 5시 일본 도쿄 국제포럼센터에서는 비의 단독 콘서트 ‘레이니데이-재팬’ 공연과 관련된 비의 기자회견이 열렸다. 일본, 한국 취재진은 물론 대만, 홍콩 등 아시아 언론사 등 60여팀이 참여해 열띤 취재경쟁을 벌였는데 주로 비의 단독 콘서트와 일본 진출 등에 관한 질문들이 쏟아졌다.
At the Tokyo International Forum Center Japan 5 o’clock July 30th, Rain’s press interview was held in relation to the performance of Rain’s exclusive concert ‘Rainy Day - Japan.’ 60-or-so teams of news-persons as from Taiwan, Hong Kong, as well as Japan and Korea participated and had a heated news-gathering competition. There were plenty of questions about mostly Rain’s exclusive concert and advancing onto Japan.

And the questions about the performance in the pre-match show before the match between the Manchester United and the Kashima Antlers of Japan J-League July 28th were also asked.

이날 비는 일본 전역에 생방송으로 공연 모습이 공개돼 비의 건재함을 보여주기도 했다. 기자회견서 다국적 취재진은 일본어를 공부하고 있다는 그가 일어로 짧은 대답을 할 때면 많은 관심을 보이며 그의 일거수 일투족에 신경을 곤두세우기도 했다.
By his performance being made open live-broadcast throughout Japan on theday, Rain showed his presence standing tall. Multinational news-reporters in the press took more interest in him whenever he replied in short Japanese words who is learning Japanese, and they were pretty much concerned with his every word and motion.

Q▷. 오늘도 여성 팬들이 많이 왔는데 일본의 여성상에 대해서 말한다면?
Q▷ Today too, many woman fans came. If you should say anything about your image of Japanese women?

비▶ 항상 차분하고 착하고 한국말로 표현하면 '참한 여자'라고 말할 수 있다. (일본 여성에게) 굉장히 좋은 인상을 받았다.
Rain▶ My image of Japanese women are always calm and good-natured, which can be called in Korean words, ‘Chamhan(=comely modest) lady’ I was pretty much impressed (by Japanese women).

Q▷ 오늘 더운데 일본 여름을 어떻게 생각하나?
Q▷ It’s hot today. What do you say of the summer in Japan?

비▶ 많이 덥지만 더운 와중에서도 차안에서 보는 바깥풍경은 열정적인 젊음을 느낄 수 있었다. 보는 것만으로도 나도 함께 즐거움을 느껴서 좋았다. 또한 콘서트 준비하느라고 다녀본 곳은 없는데 콘서트 끝나면 맛있는 것 먹으러 가고 싶다
Rain▶ It’s pretty hot, while the outdoor scenery seen from the car was a passionate youthfulness, I could feel. Just seeing them made me feel pleasure together, it was good. Although there have been no place I went because I was so busy preparing the concert, yet I would like to go any and have any delicious if the concert is over.

Q▷ 어떤 음식을 먹고 싶은지?
Q▷ Which dish would you like?

비▶ 스시, 장어, 계란, 게 등을 먹고 싶다.
Rain▶ I would like dishes of sushi, eel, egg, crab, etc.

Q▷ 일본어 단어중에 제일 처음 배운 단어와 가장 최근에 배운 언어는?
Q▷ Out of Japanese words, what is the word you first learned and what is the word you last learned.

비▶ 제일 먼저 배운 단어는 ‘무즈카시이(어렵다)’고, 가장 최근에 배운 단어는 ‘고래카라모(이제부터는)’이라는 표현이다.
Rain▶ The word I first learned is ‘むずかしい(Muzkasii, difficult), and the one I last learned is これからも(gorekaramo, from now).

Q▷ You have your hairstyle changed. Did you go under any change of mind?

비▶ 콘서트 하는데 머리 손질할 시간이 없었다. 원래 모자를 쓰는데 콘서트에서 모자 쓰면 예의 없는 것 같아서 또, 땀을 많이 흘리기 때문에 지금 헤어스타일을 고수했다.
Rain▶ Preparing concert, I had no time to do my hair. Usual times, I wear a hat. But if I wear a hat in the concert hall, I was afraid I might look ill-mannered and get into too much a sweat. So I got this hair style.

Q▷ 안색이 안 좋은 것 같은데 긴장되는가?
Q▷ You now look in poor complexion. Is there any strain in you?

비▶ 긴장된 건 아니고 굉장히 놀고 싶다. 지금 자제하는 이유는 공연준비 때문에 몇 시간 못 자서 힘이 없는 것 같은데 빨리 공연을 해서 재미있게 놀고 싶다.
Rain▶ It is far from strain, but from fatigue. I would like to relax myself very much. The reason of this look is because I might have looked flabby due to the sleep only for few hours preparing the on-coming concert. Somehow I would like to play around with great fun after the performance.

Q▷ 가수에 대해서 어떻게 생각하는가?
Q▷ What do you say to singer?

비▶ 무대위에 서 있다는 점 자체가 모든 가수들에게는 영광인 것 같다. 가수에게 주어지는 3분 몇 초가 무대에서 가장 자유스러운 시간이고, 이런 무대를 어릴 때부터 꿈꿔왔다.
Rain▶ It seems standing on the stage itself is a great honor to all singers. The 3 minutes and some more seconds given for the singers is their freest time on the stage. This performance is what I dreamed of since my childhood.

Q▷ 콘서트 끝나고 활동은?
Q▷ Any expected activities after the concert?

비▶ 일본에서 정규 앨범 발매를 준비 중이고, 좋은 소식은 많이 있는데 아직 밝히기는 어렵다. 일본 뿐 아니라 아시아 전체에서 좋은 일이 많을 것이다. 많이 기대해 달라.
Rain▶ I am preparing a regular album release in Japan. There are quite some pieces of news coming up, but they are hard yet to be revealed. There may be quite a few things coming up in the whole Asia as well as in Japan. Would you expect more, please.

Q▷ 이번 공연이 30초 만에 티켓 매진이 됐다는데?
Q▷ We heard this performance’ tickets were sold out in 30 seconds. Is it true?

비▶ 처음 티켓을 판매한 당일 30초 만에 전석이 매진됐다고 매니저한테서 전화가 왔다. 도쿄, 오사카 등 일본 팬들에게 감사드린다. 9월 2-3일 부도칸에서 공연이 있는데 할 수 없는 벅찬 일을 한 것 같다고 생각하고 열심히 노력하겠다.
Rain▶ On the same day that began selling tickets, all of the seats were sold out in 30 second, I heard through phone from my manager. I appreciate my fans in Japan as in Tokyo, Osaka, etc. There is a performance in Budokan on September 2nd~3rd. Though it is more than I can handle, I will prepare it to the best of my ability with a determination.

The hong Kong Tabloids wrote that the dancer girl he is dirty dancing with is his real; life girlfriend. Apparently in her personal blog page in Korea, there's many pictures of him and her together. I only saw one that was featured in the photos... they looked close but to be honest can be just smeone familiar....

Only "fishy thing" is that she has been the "designated" dancer that is allowed to do dirty dancing with Bi for the last two years. In fact the mag also said that for HK trip, Bi will only perform a sexy routine if its her...

[마이데일리 = 도쿄 강승훈 기자] 31일 오후 4시 일본 도쿄 국제 포럼에서 열린 비의 ‘레이니 데이-재팬’ 공연 후, 비는 “일본의 공연문화는 주로 앉아서 가만히 관람하는 것이 특징”이라며 “내 공연은 가만히 있는 것보다는 다함께 자리에서 일어서서 공연을 즐기는 것이 좋다”고 소감을 밝혔다.
After Bi's 4:00 PM performance on the 31st as a part of his Rainy Day - Japan concert series, Bi said: "In Japan, concerts seem to typically enjoyed with the audience sitting down in their seats. My performances are better enjoyed when everyone stands up and gets into the show rather than when everyone is seated."

비는 “일본 사람들은 공연을 앉아서 조용히 감상하는 것을 좋아한다”고 말하며 “내 노래는 앉아서 즐기기에는 흥이 나지 않고 오히려 일어서서 함께 즐겨야 신난다”고 말했다.
Bi said that "the Japanese listened to the performance while seated, which I liked," but "I think my songs are better enjoyed when everyone gets up and gets into the music." [haha didn't he just say that?]

비는 이날 공연에서도 처음부터 관객들의 반응을 유도했지만, 계속해서 앉아서 공연을 즐기는 사람들도 있었다며 아쉬움을 드러냈다. 하지만 비는 공연을 즐기는 문화가 달랐고, 그런 몇몇의 관객들은 소극적이고 얌전한 사람이지만, 정이 많고 제가 악수만 해도 눈물을 흘린다며 일본팬들의 순수한 마음을 헤아리고 감싸는 면모도 보였다.
On this day, Bi tried to help guide his audience's reactions [sorry, loose translation], but there were still some members who watched the show while sitting. Regardless, Bi knew this was a group of fans who loved the culture and although they were calm, Bi also managed to show his more caring side. [note: bad translation of the paragraph, my apologies]

환하게 인터뷰에 응한 비는 “많은 사람들이 관심을 가져줬다는 사실만으로도 기분이 좋다”며 앞으로 일본 내 활동도 열심히 하겠다고 답했다.
Bi said in an interview, "I am extremely glad that so many people take interest in my music". He promised to be more involved with his Japanese fans in the future.

비는 이 날 ‘나’, ‘나쁜 남자’에 이어 ‘악수’를 퍼포먼스 동작에 맞춰 안무를 보여줬다. 의상의 소매를 뜯고 나중에는 상반신을 노출하는 컨셉트였는데 30일 공연과는 다르게 의상이 찢어지지 않아 일부 팬들은 웃음을 보였지만 비가 환한 미소로 화답하면서 현장분위기를 압도하기도 했다.
Bi performed "Nah", "Bad Guy", "Handshake". Bi attempted to rip his shirt sleeves, but unlike the performance on the 30th, was unable to do so. The Japanese audience laughed, but Bi's bright smile overcame this minor glitch.

비는 “30일 공연처럼 옷이 찢어져야하는데 힘이 안 들어갔는지 안 찢어졌다”고 말한 후 공연에 오신 모든 분들에게 다시 한번 감사한다는 인사말을 남겼다.
Bi later said about this: "Unlike the 30th performance, I was unable to rip my shirt sleeves. I tried but I must not have put enough energy into it; they just wouldn't rip." He later thanked his audience and fans.

한편, 30-31일 있었던 ‘레이니 데이-재팬(Rainy Day-Japan) 공연이 1만 1000여명이 참석한 가운데 성황리에 끝나 일본에서의 비의 위상을 실감케했다.
The Rainy Day-Japan concerts had a turnout of 11,000 female fans.
