FYI,
To be able to meet their (Customs) quota for the year, so that they'll earn extra money...they're now implementing the 10% charge out of the total value of the imported goods that are coming from the Customs Post Office Department. So besides paying for the handling fee which ranges from Php 20-100, the recipient of the goods will have to pay 10% of the total value of the imported goods!

So I suggest that if you order online, opt for the Express Delivery/Door-to-door delivery! In this way, it's less hassle...the goods will be delivered to you! Unlike if you opt for the Standard Shipping, you have to claim your goods from the post office DURING OFFICE HOURS (M-F), commute in going there, and pay for the HANDLING AND 10% of the total value of goods! Argh! It'll become MORE expensive!

The Attrition Act of 2005, or Republic Act 9335


President Arroyo on Tuesday signed into law a bill to boost revenue collection, the latest in a series of tax reforms considered crucial to avoid an impending fiscal crisis.

The President thanked Congress, the business community and other officials for getting the lateral attrition law passed despite popular resistance to new taxes.

The law provides a system of incentives and penalties for employees of revenue-collecting agencies. Employees who exceed their collection targets get a share of the excess; those who miss them may be fired.

The law is expected to raise up to P30 billion a year because of the expected improved performance of the Bureau of Internal Revenue and the Bureau of Customs personnel in collecting taxes and duties.

The passage of the bill comes a week after the international credit-rating agency Standard & Poor's downgraded the coun­try's credit ratings by one notch, partly owing to the government's failure to pass enough measures to deal with the fiscal crisis.

As she signed the bill into law, Mrs. Arroyo called for the swift passage of other revenue measures that have been stuck in Congress, saying that she was willing to listen to the opposition and the people in ensuring these new measures do not excessively harm the poor.

"There should be no divisions between pro-business or populist advocates. We must all be for one united, stable and prosperous nation," the President said.

Last year Mrs. Arroyo had asked Congress to pass eight measures designed to raise at least P100 billion through new taxes, fees or savings.

However, besides this newly signed law, only one measure, an increased "sin tax" on tobacco and alcohol products, has been passed.

The Attrition Act of 2005, or Republic Act 9335, sets up a Rewards and Incentives Fund and a Revenue Performance Evaluation Board to prod officials into raising their targets.

The Reward and Incentives Fund would come from the collection of the BIR and Customs in excess of their revenue targets for the year.

If the collection exceeds the target by 30 percent or below, 15 percent of the excess collection would go to the fund.

If the collection is higher than 30 percent of the target, 15 percent of the first 30 percent plus 20 percent of the remaining amount would go to the Rewards and Incentives Fund.

The money in the fund would be divided among the units, officials and employees of the two agencies.

The Revenue Performance Evaluation Board will allocate, distribute and release the money. It will also create the criteria and procedures for removing service officials and employees whose revenue collection falls short of the target by at least 7.5 percent.

The President is optimistic that with the strong ties between Congress and the executive, the measures to raise P80 billion would be passed without any hindrance and the country's economy would further improve this year.

"The buoyancy in the economy, combined with the equitable revenue program and a strong fight against corruption, is setting the stage for a decisive turnaround that will bring in investments and jobs for our people," she said.

The BIR has set a P547-billion collection target for this year.

BIR Commissioner Guillermo Parayno said heads will roll if the target is not met.

"I'm the first one to go if I don't reach the target," he said.

But he believes the target is achievable with the enactment of the lateral attrition law. - AFP and Ma. Theresa Torres

Yesterday is the third month of Jungiery internal talent competition, 183 club, K-One, 7F, Typhoon, Tai Chi and newly reformed RnB will compete with each other in making their talents shine.

Yesterday is the first competition the company has since it was joined with Warner Music. The original plan is for them to present the talent competition on the same time that the Executive General Manager of Warner Music USA came to Taiwan. But they have problem in the time- table of the executive. But they have recorded the day¡¦s performance to present it to him.

Yesterday, K-One did a marvelous performance of performing vampire, but the hardest thing for them was the preparation of their make-up, it took them one day to prepare for the make up, specially Gino who have to be turned into a mummy. Gino expressed: ¡§ I have not gone to the rest room in 5 hours because my body was wrapped all around¡¨. While Darren played the role of Japanese Ghost Zhen Zhi, he played joke on that he like the role because it got many hair, not like himself nor Tony and Sam, this statement made Tony who was one of the panel of judges laugh out so loud!

Upon looking at K-One¡¦s internal contest performance, Tony really was amazed on their performance, ¡§ I think K-One is more and more creative and good! I think 5566 cant beat them!¡¨ In this Jungiery internal contest 5566¡¦s Tony Sun and Zax Wang who was currently busy shooting for the TFKC series that they can¡¦t join the performance, but they also did their share for the contest by being one of the panel of judges, even Cyndi Wang who was busy promoting her new album come in to look at what her younger brothers and sisters of Jungiery company are doing.

Poor Jason! He was left out alone so he joined 183 Club performance instead, they performed a Happy Birthday song with a different style, this not only prove that 183 club have only fit bodies but also got a nice vocal.

TORO never forget to promote Typhoon, he and the guys have sung a new song from their upcoming album on this contest. Tai Ji impersonates Da Pump¡¦s WADACHI, they combine their expertise in martial arts into their dance number, they also use some laser rays and other stuffs to fill up their performance. This really makes everyone have a new view of Tai Ji.

Rio has hurt his back due to performance of 5566 so he has to leave the group in the middle of their straggle in order to take care of his health. As for Rio, after he was hurt, his contribution for 5566 become lesser and lesser, but due to their deep bonding, the boys and Jungiery company have decide to continue to let Rio�fs name be part of the group even when he is not around.

Rio admitted: �g Mr. Sun and Jungiery really cares for me, they treat me well, even though I didn�ft do anything for them, but every now and then, there is a sum of money deposited to my account. I don�ft even know where the source (kind of performance) the money came from. I am ashamed of asking the reason for this. But I am really touched they have not forgotten me, the bottom line is I do made sacrifice (the performance) for 5566.�h

Even though Rio name still have connection with 5566, but he is now almost return to being behind the camera people himself. He have invested with friends on �g Rei Oh entertainment talent company�h and is the head of the company, he is now training new comers. He even have invested in �g54 Hip-Hop�h clothes in Mainland China. After the accident, Rio is now trying to do well his role as talent manager and widening his horizon.

Rio advice Ah Ti to take good care of his health, and also have a concrete communication with his recording company, try to find a balance on things.

So, may we request all Destiny Cable, Inc. subscribers to please call the customer care hotline at 8481818 and give your account name and number (found in the billing statement) and request them to keep the SETTV Channel 69 (Destiny) Channel 51 (Global) permanent. Not the SETTV Asia but the one they're showing now.

If they receive a lot of requests, they might grant it to us :)

FYI, WQYL (Showbiz) entertainment show of Zax Wang Renfu and Shan Wei is being shown on weekdays from 6-730pm, replays at 1-230am, 6-730am and 1030-12nn. 100% Señorita on weekdays from 12-1am. TFKC on saturdays starting at 9pm! Isn't this enough reason for us to request to keep requesting that they make Ch. 69/51 (SETTV) permanent?
