Bao Long starts off with an injury

F4's big brother Jerry Yan will be attending Zhong Shi's 8 o'clock time slot drama "White Tower"'s opening press conference with an injury. To welcome the media from various parts of Asia, Jerry cut his hair, secretly took medical classes and kept his body in shape. However, a few days ago he was careless while exercising and twisted his ankle.

After 2 years of preparation, Golden Clock Director Cai Yue Xun's "White Tower" will start filming today. The cast is strong, with Jerry Yan and Dai Li Ren acting as doctors. Both have put their heart into this drama so that they can enter their roles. Everyday Dai Li Ren would discuss the drama with Cai Yue Xun through MSN. Ao Jun Yi, who's in charge of this drama, laughingly said, "Da Bao Ge (Dai Li Ren) provided a lot of valuable opinions. He might help out with the directing inbetween."

Jerry had once said he wanted to act with Dai Li Ren the most and his wish has now come true. He hasn't filmed a TV serial for 3 years. Recently he's been taking classes, getting in shape and creating a new image. A few days ago he cut his hair short. At that time he only saw the stylist keep on cutting. Not only did he not wrinkle his eyebrows, but also said, "It's ok, if director says it's ok then that's fine." His hair is like his life but he showed his perfessionalism.

It's always been easy for Jerry to get nervous. After accepting "White Tower," he became very nervous. He's originally very thin so for the needs of this drama, he's been exercising and getting into shape, hoping to look healthier in front of the camera. But he accidently twisted his ankle in the process, yet he still exercised everyday. It looks like he's putting his all into acting this doctor role along side his idol Dai Li Ren.

White Tower leads pai ban

Zhong Shi's drama "White Tower" is finally about to start filming. Today (May 31st) a press conference will be held. The main focus is the leads Jerry Yan and Zhang Jun Ning, who have signed contracts yesterday (May 30th). The drama crew can finally breathe a sigh of relief. But preparations from the beginning until now, Director Cai Yue Xun's strict demands have caused the manufacturers to become "deserters."

This also caused the drama crew a lot of trouble.

WILL METEOR GARDEN FLY HIGHER THAN "DARNA"?

Because of Meteor Garden's consistent high ratings inspite of being
just a rerun, those from Channel 2 decided to place it in primetime
and so it started last night when it was shown after TV Patrol.

Formerly, it was shown before TV Patrol from Monday to Friday. But
because of its continuous high ratings, Channel 7 got envious that
they bouted FULL HOUSE for which we already know has been a
phenomenal hit in Channel 7 a few weeks ago.

But to everybody's surprize, Meteor Garden extremely surpassed Full
House and in most times, over half lead in the ratings game.

Even those from Channel 2 was surprized maybe because of its strong
showing. They already have so many shows with big budgets and power
casts so to speak but none has reached 15 percent audience ratings.

While Meteor Garden which is just a replay and has no big expenses
even reached more than 30 percent ratings and so commercials are
heavily pouring in.

Now, Darna will be shown to match it.

Let us see if Meteor Garden will remain as strong in its new time
slot.

Maging ang mga taga-Channel 2 ay nagulat din marahil dahil nga sa very strong showing nito. Napakarami nga naman nilang shows na ang laki-laki ng gastos at sobrang dami ng malalaking guests na hindi umabot sa 15 percent ang ratings.

Samantalang itong Meteor Garden na replay na lang at wala nang
gastos ay umabot pa sa lagpas 30 percent ang ratings at grabe na rin sa dami ng commercials na pumapasok.

Ngayon, magkakatapatan na yata sila ng Darna.

Titingnan natin kung gano'n pa rin kalakas ang Meteor Garden Rewind sa bago nitong primetime slot.

DAOists, I just want to share some comments about the "The Great White Tower" also known as Shiroi Kyoto, the Japanese version. This hit TV drama series was aired last October 2003 at Fuji Tv in Japan with 21 episodes. Na-curious ksi ako about this series. :p

SYNOPSIS

Goro Zaizen and Shuji Satomi are assistant professors at Naniwa University Hospital. Goro is a brilliant surgeon who will do anything to make his way up the corporate ladder. On the other hand, Shuji is a physician who earnestly devotes himself to medical research. Though the two doctors have contrasting personalities and are considered to be rivals, they highly recognize each other's skills.

The entire medical department is restless while preparing for the election to choose a new Surgical Department Professor. All Goro has on his mind, is how to win the election. Meanwhile, Shuji is looking after a patient who apparently has pancreatic cancer. He carries out tests on the patient cautiously, and is very careful in telling the patient of the cancer. However, Goro barges in on their conversation, and out of the blue, tells the patient he has cancer, and that he needs an operation right away. Shuji is furious at Goro's rude attitude, and yells, "Doctors are not God!" Goro ignores this, and starts laying the groundwork for the operation. But when Goro finds out that the Director of the Medical Department has already given a diagnosis of stomach cancer, he cancels the operation. He feels that pointing out his boss's misdiagnosis will only hurt him in the upcoming election. Shuji however, is determined to save the patient's life and go on with the operation.

COMMENTS:

1.It's one of the best japanese tv series with perfect storyline and excellent cast crew.

Its high quality caused its high rates in Japan,many people think it's a much better series than "Pride", of course, "Pride" is just like an idol tv, but "The Great White Tower" is a very serious tv with tons of meanings and the cast just fight the acting with each other, really really exciting. But anyway,it's up to ur guys whose typical tv is like what.

But I really want to commend this to ur guys, don't miss it if you want to see a real life tv.-flying angel

2. one of the best non-love story dramas i've ever watched.. it's very different, and it makes you become aware of the principles and complexities underlying the medical world... what should being a doctor really mean, what patients that go against their doctors really feel and have to go through, and ultimately, what life is all about. add that to a superb cast = AMAZING!-moonchyld

3. This is a brilliant drama. Start off slow for the first two episodes but then the story really picked up for the third episode onwards all the way to the end. Kept me glued to my TV indeed. The drama really shows you the "other side" of the medical profession.. the backstabbing, the bribes, everything.
The main plot focuses on the differences between 2 brilliant doctors in their own fields, Zaizen Goro and Satomi. Whereas Zaizen is completely ruthless and cold, he is nevertheless one of the best surgeons there is.. Satomi on the other hand is kind, unpresuming and would do anything to help the patients. Although they cannot see eye to eye, deep down they have real mutual respect for each other. Cheers to the 2 actors who brought so much feel and emotion to the characters.
Overall.. this drama triggered a lot of thoughts in me about the competitiveness in the workplace, ethics, friendship, over-confidence and the true meaning of justice. The song "Amazing Grace" fits this show really well as well IMO.

4. Without a doubt, this series ranks as my favorite drama of all time. A sophisticated plot, supported by engaging storytelling techniques and a strong performance from the cast, Shiroi Kyoto catapults in front of all other series in terms of both rating and entertainment value. Shiroi Kyoto offers an acute view of the politics within the medical profession, and subsequently the moral/ethical dilemmas involved in a medical lawsuit.

Interestingly, there is no clear-cut right or wrong in this series, and most characters walk in a gray-zone as to position the viewers in the judge's seat, or perhaps more appropriately, the characters themselves. While the ending is somewhat predictable due to foreshadowing, it executes the subtleties perfectly and provides a satisfying resolution along with some food for thought.-greybear

5. Without A doubt, one of the best dramas!! 2 passionate & talented doctors employed in same hospital, remained friends since school, admire one another yet each is ambitious in his own way with opposite views on life, enthics, career & work, walked two different paths.

Zaizen Goro's ambition builds on being the best to impress others, prove his worth, gain power & glory to climb the social ladder at any cost. Satomi Shuji's ambition builds on medical research breakthru, doing the right things, thou respected for his noble deeds but often shunned upon due to his low key approach & not going with the flow.

Eguchi Yosuke brings great warmth & sincerity to the character. Karasawa Toshiaki portrays this power-hungry role with a likable vulnerability that made you feel for his anguish. The relationship bwn the mistress & wife is rarely seen and refreshing!!

If you like typical & tear jerking love story, this is not for you, this drama showcases the good, the bad & the ugly and is the kind that makes you ponder, although centered in medical field, you'll find it mirrors our daily life & people surround us as well.-lovejdorama

6. May 2004: A drama with a superb cast, interesting plot about the political scenes in medical professions. A bit boring and draggy at times, but this drama bring out the truth about doctors and give us another prespective to think about this job. A very realistic drama, not suitable for everyone though. Thumbs up for both lead actors!! Well acted.-Atheon

7. intense! shows the other side of the medical world.. but what I found most eye-opening is the part about how the situation is for families who decide to charge a case against their doctor/s..(how they suffer, how they are perceived and treated by others, and how much courage they must muster in order to do what they did..) meaningful and tearjerking, a wonderful break fr the usual love stories! ^O^-moonchyld

New drama, Bai Se Ju Ta, Acts as Doctor

Acted by Tang Zhe Shou Ming and Jiang Kou Yang Jie, Japanese drama Bai Se Ju Ta is very popular in Asia. Taiwan would be re-fliming this drama and would be leaded by Jerry Yan. Jerry, who acts as a doctor in the show, admits that he's most afraid of seeing the doctor and having jabs. Seeing the bloody scene during an operation, he was so shcoked and stunned !

As Meteor Garden, acted by Jerry is very popular in Japan. When Bai Se Ju Ta's press conference was held in Taipei yesterday, it attracted medias from China, Japan, Korea and HK. It was a huge event and he also recieved flower baskets from Vanness and Zaizai. Attending the press conference with a new short haircut, Jerry revealed that he have always been afraid of seeing the doctor. However, as he is acting as a doctor, he had to watch videos of doing operations. When he saw the bloody scene of the doctor cutting the patient's chest with a knife, he admits he was shocked. However, for the new show, he had to act calm and watch it and he did learn quite a few medical knowledge from it.

Reporters asked why did he delay for a year before he accepted this drama ? He said in between there were people who were cooking up problems, talking bad about both the Director and himself, thus causing the delay in time. Only after he met up with the Director, he managed to clear everything and knew the truth. Pointing out that he have become more humorous, Jerry said he was affected by Andy Lau and Sammi Cheng. When he worked with them and flimed a movie last year, these 2 heavenly king and queen was kind when treating others and they had professionalism and won't get emotional. "Hua Zai's charm was like electrifying, it made me envy that, thus, privately down, i told myself i had to change."

Cai Yue Xuan and Jerry Yan sat side by side, they had the best humour while he looked at Jerry and said, "He's changed, comfortable. We almost couldn't worked together because someone said bad things in between." Jerry kept souring him, "Who, you..." Director Cai did not reply, "But i managed to think through it while i was bathing one day, it the eyes of the outside world, we're both the same." Jerry said in between , "We're hated by people." Dai Li Ren's mature acting skills, made Jerry gave thumbs-up, "Chatting with Da Bao ge, very shocking. I find that , working this time, i have found my sunny side again."

However, Jerry was shy with the female lead. When they were being photographed together, it was Ms. Zhang who started a brief conversation. The same old same old Jerry, hahaha...

"The White Tower Jerry is going to film is not the remake of the Japanese drama in the same name. The Japanese drama White Tower was based on a novel written by a Japanese author. For such a good pop album, Fantasy Forever, it’s a shame the group is no longer together. They have disbanded. The decision has been made jointly by the group, but not announcing to the fans.

F4 have effectively matured and developed massively as a group and have grown as individuals. With F4 getting bigger on asia scale, commitment levels have increased. Individual projects have entered and they did was to just grab the opportunities that came by, it is time to call it a day.

Jerry Yan. He is best known to be a dramatic actor in the future. Singer? Forget about it. Dancer? Not! (dl404: ouchh!)

Vic Zhou : F4 member with the most expressive eyes. He can also be lined up with future’s best actors.

Ken Zhu : He can concentrate in singing, more over he can best play strings of his guitar to be one day an acoustic singer.

Vanness Wu : His album had its moments. He is no worse than any other pop singer. He is best with R&B, hiphop nuances, he can be given best street credit.
He is to release album soon, and is expected his music is getting better and catchier with technological sounds and alterations.

Even though F4 has disbanded, there is 1 thing you should know. They rock! They are funky and poppy and never claimed to be more than that. You got to love them for that! For now, You Must Stop Looking For Juliet, All you have to Do is to Make A Wish for a Meteor Rain, For You know, they will do another album and series together in Ken’s Time.

Reporter : It was re-broadcasted for a few times, you didn't watch even once ?

Jerry : (place his head down and chuckles) I only slept during in the morning for a few days.

Reporter : (gives up) Not saying, okay, forget it. Your EQ seems to have improved alot !

Jerry : Yeah ! Fliming with Andy Lau and Sammi Cheng in Hk, they have already reached that level, they are always laughing with the crew. Especially Andy Lau, he seems to be electrifying, being able to take care of each and everyone so i thought i should change. In the past, i'll react immediately, after that, i knew how to be a person.

Reporter : You have become more humorous too, did you go for some lessons ?

Jerry : Nope (as it telling his heartfelt words) However, i have been very sunshine before i came into this circle, but i didn't know why i became like that ? (laughs)

Reporter : Really can't talk about the person in the mobile phone ?

No,Jerry Yen didn't catch rumoured love Chiling Lin hosting the Golden Melody AWards last Saturday. The F4 star was too busy preparing for his first TV show in three years,medical drama White Tower. He plays a doctor, and singer Saya-sister of A*mei-a cancer patient. At a press conference on Tuesday to announce the start of the six-month shoot, he said he had holed up at director Tsai Yueh-hsun's place last weekend for 'men's talk' over the screenplay. Tsai first directed Yen in Meteor Garden,the 2001 show which shot both to fame. Yen said Tsai almost booted him from the drama because 'someone made sarcastic remarks' which led to a misunderstanding. But it was resolved after,yes, more 'men's talk'.

The Pinoys still have very solid support for Meteor Garden, the undisputed and original Koreanovela (sic) in television. It was in the match of 24 ORAS to Meteor Garden (The Full Edition) last Monday when the ABSCBN Koreanovela (sic) won over GMA's news program.

Based on the ratings results, Meteor Garden (The Full Edition) got 30% against only 25% of 24 ORAS for Metro Manila. Meanwhile, in Mega Manila, MG still garnered 30% against 26% of 24 ORAS.

This is one proof that Meteor Garden and the leads F4 is really in the hearts of Pinoys. There is a saying that one must not underestimate Pinoy's capability to love. This is continiously evident in Meteor Garden.

As a thankful gesture by ABS CBN, Meteor Garden Stars , led by Jerry Yan, will again visit the Philippines soon. That is worth waiting.

According to Yi Zhen Feng from TW, the term means that one is good/powerful enough to do the job/to get the attention/respect. In other words, Xia Yu Shun, a producer in TW who will produce his "Golden White Tower" which will start filming in September/October, 2005, commented that among all the actors and actresses in Director Cai's Whtie Tower, only Jerry's name is powerful enough. He was teasing Director Cai to use not too famous artists in his drama. That's not true, as Da Li Ren is quite famous in TW and he has won quite a no. of acting awards.



Question: There seems to be another White Tower to be be filmed by another company.

Answer: When I have time, I will explain more what is going to with that "Golden White Tower."

In short, we all know that there are two novels from two different novelists from two different areas named White Tower. One was written by a Shan Qi Feng Zi (mandarin pronounciation), a female Japanese novelist, and the other was written by a novelist from TW who was previously a doctor, Hou Wen Yong.

Last year/the year before, a drama based on Shan Qi Feng Zi's White Tower was filmed in Japan and a lot of us may have seen it.

Now Director Cai is going to film a drama also called White Tower, but based on Hou Wen Yong's novel. Therefore, it has nothing to do with Shan Qi Feng Zi's or the Japanese drama White Tower.

Xia Yu Shun, a producer who has been in the TW's show business for 40 years and he wants to film a TWese version of the Japanese drama White Tower to celebrate the success in his career. Therefore, at the beginning, he wanted to buy the copyright from the Shan Qi Feng Zi. However, I guess may be it is too expensive for him, so he decided not to film the TWese version of the Japanese White Tower. He is going to create his own version of White Tower which is not going to be based on either novel. He is going to call it "Golden White Tower" and he claims to recruite actors from China, TW, and HK in his drama. He also claims to have 40 episodes in his White Tower and the production fee will be over NT$200 millions. Some reporters did the calculation. The production fee for each episode of Xia's "Golden White Tower" is actually only NT$650,000, when Director Cai's will be NT$1,500,000.

Honestly, I think it is funny that everytime when there is news on Director Cai's White Tower, he has something to say and he talks about how he is going to find this actor and that actor to film his drama, blah, blah, blah... Well, I just think that if he doesn't want to pay, then don't use the name. Isn't it obvious that he just wants to gain attention by using the name "White Tower" as it is popular?

According to a friend working in ABS, MG is actually pitted against the news program, 24 Oras, as it captuers most of MG's slot... Darna plays only abt 10-15mins towards MG's end, so its rating dsnt matter really...

Last Tuesday, MG was at AVE 29% vs. 24 Oras' AVE26%... Darna is arnd AVE35%
